Pearl Jam Announce Limited 2023 U.S. Tour Dates, Playing Most Places Twice

Pearl Jam have announced a limited run of 2023 U.S. tour dates, with nine shows booked in just five different cities.

The trek will begin on Aug. 31 in St. Paul, Minnesota and the band will perform a second night at this location on Sept. 2. From there, it's onward to Chicago in Illinois, Indianapolis in Indiana and two sets of stops in Texas — Fort Worth, then Austin.

Pearl Jam, who last released  Gigaton in 2020, will perform twice in each city except for Indianapolis. Inhaler, an alt-rock band from Dublin, Ireland, are set to open in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin, while support at the remaining stops will be announced in the coming weeks.

Per a press release, the group is making an effort to "protect fans' access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling PJ Premium tickets."

Tickets will first be made available to members of the Pearl Jam Ten Club through an exclusive pre-sale right now, right here .

Other ticket-seekers will have to sign up for Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program from now until April 25 at 5PM PT in order to have the option to purchase tickets starting April 28 at 10AM venue local time.

Pearl Jam will hit the road again in 2023.

There will be two main ways to shop for tickets:

• Pearl Jam Ten Club Members-Only* Presale powered by Ticketmaster Request — tap here to get started.

Pearl Jam continues to try to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets by providing the majority of tickets to its Ten Club members, making tickets non-transferable where permitted, and by selling approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs. Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.

Pearl Jam will use all-in pricing across this tour for the first time. This means the ticket price you see listed is the full out-of-pocket price, inclusive of fees, so there are no surprises at checkout.

Ticketmaster Request is a simple way to request tickets to popular shows, so you don’t have to compete in a first-come, first-served sale. You can take your time to review the available options and request the right tickets for you. All you need to do is tell us which show(s) you’re interested in, the type of ticket you want and your payment details. If tickets that match your request are available, your card will be charged, and we’ll email you instructions on how to claim them. Note: each show you are confirmed for will be charged separately by Ticketstoday; the charge will appear as Ticketstoday*Pearl Jam.

How does the Ten Club ticket request work?

Complete your request in three easy steps. First, tell us what shows and tickets you’re interested in. Then, provide a credit card to complete your ticket request. If your request is fulfilled, your card will be charged and we’ll email you a confirmation with instructions on how to claim your tickets during the week of April 24. Note: Tickets will not show in your Ticketmaster account until all seating assignments are finalized.

How do I unlock access to the Ten Club ticket request?

Eligible Ten Club members will receive an email from Ten Club with the info. You can also find the presale info on the Member News page. The Ten Club ticket request is for eligible Ten Club members only with active membership accounts as of Wednesday, April 19, 2023.  

Is there a cutoff date to become a Ten Club member for the ticket request?

Yes. All fans must be a Ten Club paid member, current as of Wednesday, April 19, 2023. However, all fans can register for the Verified Fan Onsale — tap here to get started.

Can I request tickets for more than one city?

Yes. By submitting a ticket request for any show, you are committing to purchase the ticket(s) should your request be fulfilled. For example, if you enter for five shows, it is possible your request can be fulfilled for all five shows in which case your credit card will immediately be charged for tickets to all five shows. However, you can only purchase up to two Ten Club tickets for each individual show. All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable.

*Does not apply to shows in Illinois.

How will tickets be determined for Ten Club members?

To level the playing field, ticket requests are fulfilled in a randomized selection process while still considering show priority.

What types of ADA Seating are available?

ADA seating locations will vary by venue.  There is no ADA seating in the GA PIT at any of the shows.

Can I transfer or sell tickets I can’t use?

All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable.

Pearl Jam has asked Ticketmaster to ensure their fans have access to tickets at face value and to achieve this they have directed that tickets be restricted from transfer.* On the night of the show, all guests will be required to enter with the ticket purchaser. For fans that can’t use the tickets they have purchased, Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster will offer a Face Value Ticket Exchange for every city beginning at a later date. Fans outside of the U.S. who sell their tickets on the Face Value Exchange may receive a delayed payment by check. What should I do if I’m buying tickets for a show in Illinois?

Illinois has laws that prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets. For shows in this state, Pearl Jam strongly encourages fans to choose to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges — including Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my ticket request?

I need to adjust my Ten Club ticket request, what should I do?

To adjust any part of your request, a new request must be submitted. To do so, tap here to go back to the site, sign in and submit a new request. We’ll only keep the details of your last submission. The deadline to submit a new or updated request is Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. PT.

Can I cancel my ticket request?

Yes, requests can be canceled via the ‘My Requests’ page, located in the menu in the top right corner of the request page. If you place a new request, your previous request will be canceled automatically. Requests may be canceled until Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. PT.

What is the maximum number of tickets I can request per show?

Ten Club members may request up to two (2) tickets per show for this tour. When shopping for tickets during the Verified Fan Onsale, you may purchase up to four (4) tickets per show.

When will you charge my card?

Charges will begin on Monday, April 24 and end on Tuesday, April 25 — you will only be charged if your request is fulfilled. To avoid declined transactions, please make sure your card has available funds to cover your maximum total.

As a reminder: Ten Club has secured the majority of tickets for this presale. Your request may be fulfilled for ALL the shows you selected, at which point you will be charged for the maximum total provided in your summary. Each show you are confirmed for will be charged separately by Ticketstoday; the charge will appear as Ticketstoday*Pearl Jam.

I submitted duplicate requests by accident. What should I do?

We’ll only keep the details of your last submission. If you’d like to adjust any part of your ticket request, a new request must be submitted. Can I confirm my seats before my credit card is charged? What if I don’t like the tickets I get?

Once your request has been fulfilled, we will immediately process your credit card and assign seats. Reserved Seating is based on Ten Club seniority in the fan club. Please do not request tickets for any cities, shows, or seat preferences that you do not actually wish to purchase. Please note: All sales are final. If my request is confirmed, how will I get my tickets?

Ticket confirmations will be sent out on a show-by-show basis over the course of two days, beginning Monday, April 24 and ending Tuesday, April 25. What is the Verified Fan Onsale?

Pearl Jam is using Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan technology to ensure more tickets get into the hands of concertgoers. Verified Fan requires registration, ahead of the Onsale to help filter out buyers looking to resell tickets, and instead get them to fans who are going to attend the show.

If I used Ticketmaster Request can I also request additional tickets through the Verified Fan Onsale?

Yes. You are also encouraged to register for the Verified Fan Onsale for an additional opportunity to get tickets for the 2023 U.S. Tour. The Verified Fan Onsale takes place on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time, after all confirmed Ten Club requests have been processed. Registration does not guarantee ticket access. What happens if my ticket request is not confirmed?

If you’d like to have another opportunity to shop for tickets, register for the Verified Fan Onsale. Fans who are invited to the Verified Fa n Onsale will be provided a unique access code to shop for tickets on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time. Are international fans able to request tickets?

Yes, international fans who create a Ticketmaster.com account can submit a Ten Club ticket request. Pearl Jam Onsale powered by Ticketmaster Verified Fan®

Artists choose to use Verified Fan to give their fans a better chance at buying tickets by creating an extra line of defense against bots and professional resellers who are looking to sell tickets for profit. The process includes three steps:

Step 1: Registration

By registering for a Verified Fan Onsale, you are letting us know that you’re interested in purchasing tickets. From the registration page, you sign in to your account, select your preferred show(s) and register your email and phone number. Once completed, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation email letting you know that we got your request. It’s quick, easy and free to sign up.

Step 2: Verification

Next, Ticketmaster vets each request by confirming it belongs to an individual — not a bot — and that it hasn’t been tied to irregular behaviors that could be a sign of a professional seller attempting to access the sale.

Step 3: Access Code or Waitlist

When demand exceeds availability, a lottery-style process will determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code for the sale, and which are put on a waitlist. You’ll receive an email the day prior to the ticket sale letting you know which group you’re in.

• Access Code : If you receive an access code, it will be sent via text message. It is unique to your account, and will not work if anyone else enters it — do not try to sell or trade your code. Do not buy codes from anyone else. 
• Waitlist : If tickets remain, we may text you an access code to join the ticket sale. The lottery-style process will be used to determine who gets off the waitlist.

While it doesn’t guarantee that all Verified Fans will get tickets, it does significantly block bots and professional resellers from competing against fans for tickets during the sale.

Common Questions

When is the verified fan registration period.

T he registration period is Thursday, April 20 at 10 a.m. PT — Tuesday, April 25 at 5 p.m. PT.

How many shows can I register for?

You may register for up to 9 shows. When doing so, please be sure to rank your show preferences in order from highest to lowest.

If selected, you’ll be invited to purchase for up to 9 of the shows you’ve ranked. If demand for tickets from Verified Fans exceeds supply, a lottery-style process to determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code and which fans are placed on the waitlist.

Can I register more than once to increase my invitation status?

Only one registration is required, and registering more than once won’t increase your opportunity to receive an invitation. If after you’ve registered, you want to change the dates you selected, just come back and register with your new picks. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

If I edit my registration more than once, will I be disqualified?

No, you won’t be disqualified. If you edit your registration more than once to correct a mistake, such as changing the show you previously selected, we only keep the last registration that you submitted.

I received a registration confirmation email, does that mean I will get tickets?

No, registration does not guarantee tickets. The registration confirmation email is simply to inform you that we have received your information and will be working to verify your account.

A second email will be sent the day before the Verified Fan Onsale letting you know if you will receive a unique access code or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist.

When will I receive an email letting me know if I’ll receive a unique access code or be placed on the waitlist?

On the evening of Thursday, April 27, you’ll receive an email confirming whether you’ve been verified and whether you’ve also been selected to participate in the Verified Fan Onsale. If you are verified and selected, you will also receive a text with your personal access code.

When submitting my registration, I received a six-digit authentication code from Ticketmaster. Can I use this code to purchase tickets during the Verified Fan Onsale?

No, that code was sent to you to verify your phone number at registration. It is not a unique Verified Fan code and cannot be used to purchase tickets.

Does registering mean I get a Verified Fan access code?

No. Registration for Verified Fan allows Ticketmaster to authenticate your account and places your request into a lottery-style process to determine which registered Verified Fans get an access code and which fans are placed on the waitlist. Access to tickets is not guaranteed.

If you’re selected, you’ll receive a unique access code and link to the sale via text message. If you aren’t selected, you’ll be automatically placed on a waitlist and may be invited to join the sale if tickets remain.

Does getting an access code mean I will get tickets?

No. Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to join the sale. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis so they may sell out.

When is the Verified Fan Onsale?

The Verified Fan Onsale will begin on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. local venue time.

If I am selected, how long do I have to shop for tickets?

While we suggest you purchase as soon as you are able, we understand there may be some planning involved.

What is the ticket limit?

The ticket limit for the Verified Fan Onsale is four (4) tickets per show.

What is PJ Premium?

PJ Premium seats are located in a variety of preferred locations and account for approximately 10% of ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available through Verified Fan along with regularly priced tickets.

How can I get the seating map in advance?

Seating options vary depending on the event or venue and in some cases may not be available until tickets go on sale. Visit the event page on Ticketmaster to learn more about seating options and maps.

How will I know if I move off the Waitlist?

Keep your phone close by as your text notification can come at any time after the sale begins. When notified, you’ll receive a text message that has the link to the sale and contains your unique access code. You’ll also want to closely watch your email just in case there are text delivery issues such as an incorrectly entered number or blocked carriers. In that case we’ll email your access code details to the address you use for your Ticketmaster account.

Pearl Jam is hitting the road this year, and the band hopes fans can come along without breaking the bank.

On Thursday, the rock group announced its 2023 U.S. tour, commencing at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31. Pearl Jam said it is taking action to “continue to protect fans’ access to fairly priced tickets.”

The Grammy-winning group — comprised of Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder — opted to “make tickets non-transferable where permitted” and will sell “approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs.”

How Ticketmaster became the most hated name in music

Fans, politicians and even artists were complaining about Ticketmaster long before Taylor Swift filled stadiums. But experts say the anger may be misplaced.

Nontransferable tickets make it less likely that buyers can flip their tickets for a profit by selling to third-party sites and scalpers.

In a statement shared with The Times Friday, Ticketmaster said it supports Pearl Jam’s efforts to be more transparent about ticket prices.

“Pearl Jam has always advocated on behalf of their fans and we hope more artists, teams and venues follow their lead and start using the all-in pricing display available on Ticketmaster,” Ticketmaster said. “It would be better for fans if all-in pricing was mandated nationally, but in the meantime we created the all-in display option to help fans see the full costs upfront.”

In December 2022, Taylor Swift fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster’s parent company, Live Nation Entertainment Inc., for alleged fraud, price-fixing and antitrust law violations while selling advance tickets to Swift’s Eras Tour.

Pearl Jam has had its own issues with Ticketmaster. The quintet clashed with the platform several times over ticket fees in the 1990s.

As part of its U.S. tour, Pearl Jam will make stops in Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth and Austin, Texas. Rock band Inhaler will join Pearl Jam for its shows in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

Pearl Jam has announced a short tour for late summer and early fall of 2023, playing nine arena shows in five cities in August and September. Perhaps not surprisingly with a group long known for its careful attention to ticket practices, the explanation of how the band will be handling the ticket sales runs much longer than the actual list of tour dates. (See the full list of shows below.)

The announcement about the tour dates had Pearl Jam staking its position on other controversial ticketing practices, as well. The use of “platinum” — i.e., dynamically priced — tickets came to the forefront after some of Bruce Springsteen’s 2023 tickets reached astronomical face-value heights, and Taylor Swift rejected the use of platinum pricing on her own tour. Pearl Jam is using the platinum system — here called “PJ Premium” seats — but the announcement emphasizes that only 10% of tickets will be part of that program, and that these tickets help subsidize lower prices for the other 90%.

To avoid scalping, tickets will also be non-transferable, as well, except in Illinois. The band said that the majority of tickets will end up in the hands of members of its Ten Club fan club via a presale.

The pre-sale begins today for members of the Ten Club. A subsequent sale to those who sign up for Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program will begin April 28. Advanced registration for Verified Fan begins today.

Pearl Jam have announced their first tour dates of 2023. The U.S. shows take place in August and September. Find the band’s itinerary below.

Pearl Jam are continuing to tour in support of 2020’s Gigaton . Following pandemic -induced delays , the band managed to get back on the road last year for shows in North America and Europe.

Beyond the Pearl Jam dates, Eddie Vedder will perform at his music festival, Ohana Festival, on Saturday, September 30, in Dana Point, California.

Pearl Jam has announced a slew of new 2023 US tour dates, which will kick off in Minneapolis in August.

The iconic grunge band will perform nine shows in August and September, making stops in St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin. It will be joined by special guests Inhaler as support for the dates in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Austin, with the opening act for the other shows to be announced in the coming weeks.

With the new tour dates, Pearl Jam will try to protect fans by giving access to fairly priced tickets, the majority of which will be provided to members of its Ten Club fan club. Tickets will be non-transferable in all states except Illinois, where it is prohibited by law. In a press release, the band apologized to fans in the state “who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market.”

PJ Premium tickets will also be sold, with those seats located in a variety of preferred locations and will account for approximately 10 percent of the ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available through a Verified Fan sale, along with regularly priced tickets.

The 2023 US tour marks the first time Pearl Jam will use all-in pricing, which means the ticket price listed is the full out-of-pocket price inclusive of fees.

A special pre-sale for members of the Ten Club who held membership on April 19, 2023, will begin today. General public tickets will then be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration. The registration window is open now through 5pm PT on April 25 –  you can register here . The Verified Fan sale will then begin on April 28 at 10am local time.

Last year, Pearl Jam committed to addressing its carbon footprint as a touring band with an initiative that saw the band pledging to pay $200 per ton of CO2 used on its Gigaton tour. Globally, the carbon offset market varies, but the average amount paid per ton of CO2 is between $1-15.

Pearl Jam With Special Guest Inhaler

Pearl Jam is heading out on tour with special guests Inhaler in support of their new album "Gigaton" and bringing the show to the United Center on September 5 & 7, 2023!

The following approved process will be implemented at the United Center for the General Admission (GA) pit:

• WRISTBAND DISTRIBUTION TIMES: At 9 a.m. on show day, guests will receive a numbered wristband. This represents the order they will be lined up in to access the GA area. Numbered wristbands will be distributed until 4:30 pm.
• WHO NEEDS A NUMBERED WRISTBAND:  Please note that numbered wristbands are only required if a guest would prefer to have first access to the standing room floor. A numbered wristband is not needed if a guest doesn't have a preference on where they will stand on the floor.
• LOCATION: Fans will only receive wristbands from a credentialed United Center security employee at Gate 5.
• LEAVING PRIVILEGES: Once the wristband is received, guests are free to leave and return to Gate 5 no later than 4:30 p.m.
• RETURNING TIME: All guests with a wristband must return to the United Center and be lined up in order by 4:30 p.m. to have wristband number honored.
• LATE ARRIVAL: If a guest with a numbered wristband arrives after 4:30 p.m., the guest will be placed in line after the last guest in line. Guests without wristbands arriving after 4:30 pm will also be placed in line after the last guest in line.
• ONE PROCESS: This is the only process approved for GA entry. No additional arrangements can be honored at this time.

**Please note- you must have your ticket to obtain a wristband and only one wristband per person.

** All guests with general admission tickets must enter though Gate 5.

Public Transportation

Take the Orange, Green, Purple, or Brown lines to Madison. Take #20 Madison buses west.

To the United Center : The #19 United Center Express Bus runs on game days. Service begins 90 minutes prior to game time, runs every 10 minutes until 30 minutes until start of game. Board at stops starting southbound on Michigan and Randolph. Connections are made with Metra trains at Millennium Station, Ogilvie Center and Union Station. The #20 Madison Bus travels west on Madison Street, starting downtown at Wabash Street and runs every few minutes, making all stops to the United Center.

From the United Center : The #19 United Center Express and the #20 Madison buses run every few minutes, departing from the eastbound side of Madison Street. Buses make all stops.

Suites Parking

Two reserved parking passes will be valid in lots C and K. The other two reserved parking passes will be for parking in lots A, B, D, or L. Holders of these passes will be directed to A, B, D, or L lots by traffic police and parking attendants based on traffic conditions. Parking passes are good for one space each. All parking passes are mobile entry only.

For all special events, each Executive Suite Holder will receive two complimentary parking passes per event ordered. These two passes will be for reserved parking located in lots C and K. In addition, Executive Suite Holders will also receive the option to purchase four additional parking passes in lots C and K for special events.

Suite Holder parking passes are also valid for buses or limousines under specific guidelines.

Lexus Club Parking

Lexus Club Seat members have reserved parking in fenced, well-lit and clearly marked parking lots adjacent to the United Center for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. All Lexus Club members who purchase tickets to other events may also purchase one preferred parking pass (in lot C or K) for such events. Details on how to obtain parking for other events are included with the fax transmission announcing each event.

Lexus Club Seat members with two to four tickets receive a complimentary, reserved parking space in a closed-in, paved lot for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. Lexus Club Seat members with five seats or more will be provided with two parking passes.

UBER ZONE FAQs:

What is the Uber Zone (Lot E) at the United Center? To increase and streamline the fan experience for guests who take Uber to and from the United Center, the new Uber Zone is located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street (Lot E) and will combine the three former Uber locations around the arena. Traffic leading to the three prior Uber pickup locations 1) Zone A, previously located on Wood Street & Washington Blvd. near Lot A, 2) Zone D, previously located on Monroe Street & S. Paulina Street near Lot D and 3) Zone F, previously located on Monroe Street & Seeley Ave. near Lot F will now be directed towards the one new Uber Zone in Lot E.

What is the location of the Uber Zone? The new Uber Zone at the United Center is located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Fans will enter and exit through the sidewalk entrance located on Madison Street and cars will enter the lot by turning into the Uber Zone from Madison Street. Cars will exit on Warren Blvd.

What are the hours of operation? On event days, the Uber Zone is open two hours prior to games, concerts and events and will remain open up to one hour after each event. On non-event days, the Uber Zone will be closed and Uber rides will be dropped off near the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street outside of the Uber Zone.

What is the pickup process for fans?

• Using the Uber app, fans inside the United Center will call an Uber ride.
• Guests will then head to the new Uber Zone located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street in front of the United Center.
• When arriving, fans will show the Uber attendant the lane number their driver is in.
• Fans will be shown the location where their Uber vehicle is located to start their next journey.

What is the dropoff process for fans? When Uber drivers arrive with guests at the United Center, they will be instructed to pull into the Uber Zone from the Madison Street side to drop off fans. Once exiting the vehicle, guests will walk out of the main entrance located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Guests can cross the street to the United Center and are encouraged to enter through the East Atrium.

The tour kicks off on August 31, with a pair of shows in St. Paul, Minnesota. Further dates include Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth, with the tour finishing in Austin on September 19.

A pre-sale for members of Pearl Jam’s Ten Club is open now and fans can also register for Ticketmaster Verified Fan sale until April 25. Tickets are then on general sale at 10am local time on April 28 and can be found here .

As part of this run of dates, the band have announced that the shows will feature all-in pricing, which means that the price listed is inclusive of transaction fees. Tickets will also be non-transferrable in all cities except Chicago.

To offset increased touring costs, Pearl Jam have designated 10 per cent of each show’s tickets as PJ Premium Seats. These are located in preferred locations and are priced at market rate.

The news of the all-in ticket pricing follows The Cure ‘s recent battle with Ticketmaster over fees. In March,  Robert Smith persuaded Ticketmaster to issue small refunds to verified ticket buyers over the “unduly high” service fees .

Smith also opted out of Ticketmaster’s “platinum” and “dynamically priced” ticket options, and restricted ticket transfers in markets where he was legally allowed to do so in places like New York, Illinois, and Colorado, which have all enacted legislation protecting resellers.

Elsewhere, in February, Pearl Jam announced a 25th anniversary reissue package for their album ‘Yield’. The Seattle grunge icons’ fifth studio album came out in February 1998 and featured the singles ‘Do The Evolution’ and ‘Given To Fly’.

Looking forwards, Pearl Jam‘s Stone Gossard gave an update on the progress of the band’s forthcoming album .

The guitarist confirmed in an interview with  Consequence of Sound last March that work had begun on the follow-up to 2020’s   ‘Gigaton’  and that Andrew Watt, who has previously worked with  Justin Bieber , is behind the production desk this time around.

Later in 2022, Gossard told Riff TV  how things were moving along: “The plan is that we’re gonna do some more recording, and we’re gonna try to finish a record here pretty soon. There’s songs that are getting close to being done and there’s a bunch that aren’t. And we’re gonna do something here pretty soon.” [via LouderSound ]

Pearl Jam Launches 2023 Tour: Videos, Set List

Pearl Jam played their first show of 2023, kicking off a short tour with a performance on Thursday night at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.

The band played the first five songs of the night seated, opening with the Vs. track "Indifference" for the first time in nearly 30 years. They ditched the stools for the next 19 tracks, which included covers of Tom Petty 's "Wildflowers" and Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary" in addition to set list staples such as "Black" and "Yellow Ledbetter."

The gig marked Pearl Jam’s first concert in about a year. The band wrapped their 2022 tour last September in Denver.

Where Is Pearl Jam Playing Next?

Pearl Jam’s 2023 tour will continue with a second St. Paul performance, followed by stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Ft. Worth and Austin. In total, the band will play nine shows during their brief trek.

Frontman Eddie Vedder has tacked on some additional solo dates in the fall. He will headline day two of the Ohana Festival on Sept. 30 at Southern California’s Doheny State Beach. Foo Fighters , the Pretenders , the Killers and the War on Drugs are among the other artists playing at the three-day event. Vedder is one of the founders of the Ohana festival, which has been held annually since 2016.

Is Pearl Jam Working on New Music?

Pearl Jam have been in the studio with producer Andrew Watt , working on the follow-up to 2020’s Gigaton .

“Andrew is a total character,” guitarist Stone Gossard noted in 2022. “Really, like immediately, we were writing quickly – spontaneously. Bring in a riff. 'Let's knock it out.'”

More recently, Gossard revealed that the new album was “getting closer and closer” to being finished. “It’s gonna be a good one,” he said, adding that Watt is “the most hardcore Pearl Jam fan you’ll ever meet. He can play all of our songs and all of Soundgarden ’s songs back at us — better than we can play them!”

Pearl Jam Map Out 2023 U.S. Tour

Today, Pearl Jam announced they’ll hit the road this fall with nine shows across the United States. During they’ll travels, the band will perform several multi-night runs giving select cities ample time to enjoy their sound.

Pearl Jam will kick their tour off at the MN Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31 and again on Sept. 2. They’ll then head to Chicago for two nights at the United Center on Sept. 5 and 7, followed by a stop at Indianapolis’ Ruoff Music Center on Sept. 10. Next they’ll head south to Fort Worth, Texas for performances on Sept. 13 and 15 at the TX Dickies Arena. Their travels will culminate with two nights at Austin, Texas’ Moody Center on Sept. 18 and 19.

They’ll enjoy support from a special TDA guest during their stops in St. Paul and Fort Worth, who’ll be announced in the coming weeks. Notably, Irish rock band originating from Dublin, Inhaler will open for Pearl Jam in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

A special ticket pre-sale for Pear Jam’s fan club, Ten Club, opened for eligible members on April 19, while Ticketmaster Verified Fan registration began today at 10 a.m. PT and closes on April 25 at 5 p.m. PT. Pearl Jam Announce 2023 North American Tour: See Dates, Ticket Info & More

Pearl Jam just announced an all-new North American tour this year, performing nine shows in August and September! Check out the dates and ticket info below.

During the tour, the band will play in St. Paul, Chicago, Indianapolis, Fort Worth, and Austin. Inhaler will open for Pearl Jam in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Austin. Support for the St. Paul and Fort Worth dates will be announced in the coming weeks, per a press release.

Want tickets? A special ticket pre-sale for all tour dates begins today for eligible members (active as of April 19) of Pearl Jam’s fan club, Ten Club. General public tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires advance registration in order to participate. Additionally, Pearl Jam recently announced they will release Give Way — featuring live tracks from their 1998 concert in Melbourne, Australia — on Record Store Day 2023 (April 22) on double LP and CD. Pearl Jam Radio will premiere the audio on April 21 at 6pm ET , ahead of its release the next day. In 1998, the CD version was supposed to hit shelves at Best Buy before Sony recalled and destroyed all but a couple hundred copies of the 50,000 pressed. See the full tracklist below.

Pearl Jam sets 2023 U.S. tour, touts 'fairly priced tickets' amid Ticketmaster drama

Pearl Jam is hitting the road this year, and the band hopes fans can come along without breaking the bank.

On Thursday, the rock group announced its 2023 U.S. tour, commencing at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Aug. 31. Pearl Jam said it is taking action to "continue to protect fans' access to fairly priced tickets."

The Grammy-winning group — comprised of Jeff Ament, Matt Cameron, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Eddie Vedder — opted to "make tickets non-transferable where permitted" and will sell "approximately 10% of tickets through PJ Premium at the market rate to offset increased costs."

The announcement continued: "Tickets on this tour will continue to be non-transferable in all states except Illinois where it is prohibited by law. We apologize in advance to Illinois fans who may be subject to increased ticket prices on the secondary market."

Nontransferable tickets make it less likely that buyers can flip their tickets for a profit by selling to third-party sites and scalpers.

Fans can register for Ticketmaster 's Verified Fan program before tickets go on sale on April 28 at 10 a.m. local time. Current Pearl Jam Ten Club members have access to the ticket presale.

Additionally, the band said it will implement "all-in pricing across this tour" in its ticket sales. This means that prices listed on Ticketmaster will include all processing fees "so there are no surprises at check out."

In a statement shared with The Times Friday, Ticketmaster said it supports Pearl Jam's efforts to be more transparent about ticket prices.

“Pearl Jam has always advocated on behalf of their fans and we hope more artists, teams and venues follow their lead and start using the all-in pricing display available on Ticketmaster," Ticketmaster said. "It would be better for fans if all-in pricing was mandated nationally, but in the meantime we created the all-in display option to help fans see the full costs upfront.”

Pearl Jam's latest efforts to be transparent with its ticket sales and limit reselling come months after music fans took Ticketmaster to court.

In December 2022, Taylor Swift fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster's parent company, Live Nation Entertainment Inc., for alleged fraud, price-fixing and antitrust law violations while selling advance tickets to Swift's Eras Tour.

An investigation by the Department of Justice and a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing rife with Swift lyrics followed a month later.

In March, fans of rapper Drake reportedly filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster, accusing the platform of inflating ticket prices.

Pearl Jam has had its own issues with Ticketmaster. The quintet clashed with the platform several times over ticket fees in the 1990s.

As part of its U.S. tour, Pearl Jam will make stops in Chicago, Indianapolis and Fort Worth and Austin, Texas. Rock band Inhaler will join Pearl Jam for its shows in Chicago, Indianapolis and Austin.

"We can't wait to see you out there," the band wrote.

Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard on ‘Dark Matter’ album, upcoming tour

SEATTLE — In some ways, it’s hard to believe it’s been six years since Pearl Jam last played Seattle, when their ballyhooed Home Shows drummed up more than $11 million for local homelessness organizations. Between a barrage of side projects and lead singer Eddie Vedder’s and guitarist Mike McCready’s penchants for onstage pop-ins when their rock star buddies come to town, it’s not like the guys have been laying low in their hometown.

But a full-fledged, sweaty-browed, arena-rocking Pearl Jam show (or two) in their backyard is a different animal.

The PJ machine is officially fired up, as the Seattle juggernauts release their 12th studio album, “Dark Matter,” on Friday, with a pair of local dates — their first at Climate Pledge Arena — coming May 28 and 30.

“Dark Matter” differed, at least in process, from its predecessor, 2020’s striking “Gigaton” LP. As opposed to individual members of the band — rounded out by bassist Jeff Ament, drummer Matt Cameron and guitarist Stone Gossard — coming in with near-complete demos over long gestation periods, many of the new songs were hashed out during quick-paced sessions with everyone in the same room.

“We’re all musical adventurers,” Gossard said earlier this month. “Everyone in the band wants to get into that moment of creativity and to be part of something that has that sort of magic and that feeling that transcends reality in some way.”

That all-hands, keep-it-moving approach hearkened back to the band’s early days and was largely spurred by hotshot producer (and low-key guitar hero ) Andrew Watt. Despite the 33-year-old’s pop pedigree, Watt is a not-so-secret Pearl Jam superfan who had been clamoring behind the scenes to work with the band for a while. After first making his name producing for pop A-listers like Justin Bieber and Post Malone, Watt’s become something of a whisperer to rock’s elder statesmen, working on recent albums with Ozzy Osbourne and Iggy Pop, the Rolling Stones and Vedder’s rewarding solo album, “Earthling.”

“He understands our songs from an outsider’s perspective,” Gossard said. “He knew that our early records were thrown together pretty quickly in terms of our process. There wasn’t a lot of time to think about things and I think that was part of what he fell in love with. He encouraged us to be in that same state of mind.”

Even if the guys brought in what they thought were solidified song skeletons, “everything that came in just got immediately thrown in the blender.” Parts were rearranged, keys shifted, new parts added. Nothing was too sacred. “That is a daunting process if you’re in a band because you’ve gotta be able to let your baby go,” Gossard said. “But that’s where some really magical things happen for us.”

“Dark Matter” was recorded during two stretches, the first taking place in 2021 at Watt’s studio.

“We walk into a room, here’s a guy that Ed has made a record with, but we’ve never met before, and he’s bouncing off the walls, super excited,” Gossard said. “He’s got a great little studio that the board is in the room, it’s all one room so we’re all in it together. We didn’t have any of our instruments, he just had guitars laying all over the place, and amps, and he’s like ‘Try this, try that, anything you wanna try!’ It’s a little bit ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ [laughs], he has a little bit of Willy Wonka [in him].”

Things started clicking immediately in Watt’s guitar-strewn Wonka factory, as the crew knocked out “Scared of Fear” and the swinging “React, Respond” — twin kickers that open the album — that first day. With Watt whipping up quality rough mixes on the fly, it was easy for the band to feel good about the takes and move on to the next song.

“He won our trust by having it together the first day and knowing how to get a song out of us,” Gossard said. “That set the hook for us, because we knew those songs were great. After that, we recorded another handful, but as we started to get more into the process, I think we got a little more cerebral again and [took] a little bit more time.”

After letting the first batch of songs breathe for about a year, largely due to scheduling constraints, Pearl Jam and Watt reconvened in Malibu’s Shangri-La studio last year to finish the second half of the album. On the whole, one of the strengths of “Dark Matter” lies in how the band’s individual talents and impulses — whether it’s Ament’s anxious post-punk (“React, Respond”), McCready’s fire-raining solos or Vedder’s Who-like crescendos (“Got to Give”) — shine through in a more cohesive setting.

The result is a loose, no-bull collection of songs that often fall squarely into the band’s wheelhouse — like watching ‘em crank slow-pitched baseballs over the center field wall in a home run derby. Songs like the crushable “Waiting for Stevie” — its origins tracing to when Vedder and Watt were literally waiting for Stevie Wonder to show up and record a part for Vedder’s “Earthling” album — are destined to go down live as well as a $6 value beer in the T-Mobile Park bleachers.

Here’s what else Gossard had to say about working with Watt, the Home Shows and Pearl Jam’s upcoming tour. These excerpts have been edited for length and clarity.

• On Watt’s writing contributions …

“It’s funny, but Andrew has a guitar on all the time. That’s how he works. So while we were recording, he was in there playing along and he helped write parts to songs. He helped us with sections and had great, great intuition about getting from point A to point B and [how] to build suspense — things that you learn in pop music that can help you that are basically arrangement moves of tension and release, making something pop. Those things can all be part of a rock song. But it’s [the] sounds and the attitude and the tempo that you can play with that make them sound different.”

• Reflecting on 2018’s Home Shows …

“I’m still unpacking that, honestly. I think it highlights how difficult things are to change without the right blend of partners and our intentions were to help create an opportunity to kind of build that. … But I think that we’re also human and definitely fallible. I’m not sure what we achieved, but I think at the very least we sent a signal that said it’s possible to do things on a large scale and it’s possible to be catalysts for change.

• On playing Climate Pledge Arena for the first time …

“I saw the Cure there and it sounded great. I’m barely going to concerts, but I really enjoyed that. It was a very stripped-down affair and it felt like a club show in terms of the mood and how they just jammed. So, I’m excited, it’s good. I’m excited about this record [and] the way the band is thinking about this tour and I think we’re going to be ready to come out and have a good show.”

• On recent tourmates Deep Sea Diver, the Seattle indie rock favorites opening the Climate Pledge Arena shows, and supporting Seattle bands …

“Jeff Ament is the one that fell in love with them early. They’re an amazing band live and did great opening last year. When you’re moved by music, you’re motivated to want to be around it, so I don’t know that it’s anything more than that. It’s cool to be where you’re from and to participate in your own city’s talent.”

On what keeps Pearl Jam exciting after 34 years …

“It’s still making art with your friends. That always excites me. In that collaboration and the mix of being part of something that you’re not really in control of but you know that you’re playing a role in it, that’s a fun place to play. And it’s still fun to play, like a kid.”

In a review of Dark Matter , Rolling Stone ‘s John Lonsdale highlighted “Wreckage” as an album standout, writing: “ Dark Matter shines brightest in its most restrained moments. Take the heartbreaking highlight “Wreckage,” a laid-back stunner complete with empathetic, Springsteen-inspired vocals, and lyrics that seem to be about holding on to a fading relationship.”

Andrew Watt, who produced the album, recently shared similar praise for the single in an interview with Rolling Stone . “That’s a really special song,” he shared. “If you’re a Pearl Jam fan, and you love Eddie Vedder, it’s everything you could hope for when you sit down to listen to Eddie singing at you. He’s absolutely singing his heart out, and giving you lines that feel like you’ve had them with you your whole life.”

Pearl Jam,  Neil Young with Crazy Horse  will headline the 2024 Ohana Festival.

The festival will be held Sept. 27-29 on three stages at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California.

Also performing will be Alanis Morissette , Turnpike Troubadours, Garbage,  Maren Morris ,  Black Pumas , Idles, Jenny Lewis, The Breeders and Crowded House.

Pearl Jam will headline on Friday, Sept. 27, and Sunday, Sept. 29, in celebration of their new album, “Dark Matter,” according to Live Nation. Young and Crazy Horse will headline on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The festival also features the work of more than 35 artists, “thought-provoking environmental and sustainability programming, a curated art gallery and more...”

General ticket sales start at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25. Fans can register for a passcode. Single-day and three-day tickets are available.

Fans also can find tickets on Stubhub, Vivid Seats and SeatGeek.

Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder founded the festival in 2016, which Live Nation said is “a two-time ‘Music Festival of the Year’ recipient from Pollstar Magazine” and “is a leader in sustainability and conservation by combining the power of music and activism.”

“The Cove, a one-of-a-kind area within the festival, is the cross-section for art and environmentalism with passionately curated programming on the Storytelling Stage. This special area brings to life the festival’s foundation and mission to raise awareness about issues facing the ocean and environment with discussions, exhibits and panels from world-renowned conservationists, environmentalists, researchers, and professional surfers each day.

“The Cove also features an art gallery, curated by Charles R. Adler , which showcases a dynamic collection of unique pieces around music, surf, skate and activism.”

Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Alanis Morissette Lead Ohana Fest 2024

Ohana Festival has announced its lineup for this fall's event at Doheny State Beach, featuring two headlining sets from Pearl Jam, alongside Garbage, Turnpike Troubadours, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, and Alanis Morissette.

Hosted by Eddie Vedder, the three-day festival is scheduled for Sept. 27 through Sept. 29 with Pearl Jam headlining both Friday and Sunday in celebration of their new Dark Matter LP. Friday's fest will feature appearances from Maren Morris, Crowded House, Ryan Beaty, Flipturn, Dogstar, and Gabriels.

Saturday's event - headlined by Young - will see Black Pumas, Jenny Lewis, Glen Hansard, and Ohana Fest staple Cat Power, who'll perform music from Bob Dylan's The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert . (Cat Power dropped a cover album celebrating the performance last year.) Sunday's fest, with Pearl Jam and Morissette headlining, will include performances by Idles, the Breeders, Kim Gordon, La Lom, and La Santa Cecilia, among others.

General presale tickets go on sale this Thursday, April 25 at 10 a.m. PT, with public on-sale to follow if any tickets remain.

Three-day tickets are $530 for general admission, and VIP entry is $1,589 with no hidden fees. Ultimate VIP tickets, which include a 4-night stay at Laguna Cliffs Resort and Spa, brunch buffet, $200 credit on food and beverages, complimentary food, a vinyl record of Pearl Jam's Dark Matter signed by Eddie Vedder, and $200 credit on merch stands, is $10,255.

Single-day tickets will be available for $196 for GA entry and $624 for VIP.

Last year's festival was headlined by the Killers, Vedder, and Foo Fighters. During the event, the Killers covered Tom Petty's "The Waiting" with Vedder. Haim, the Chicks, and Pretenders also made appearances at the beach-hosted fest.
