High Vis announce new album 'Guided Tour' with "Mind's a Lie"

London’s High Vis announces their highly anticipated new album Guided Tour , set for release on October 18th via Dais Records. Alongside the album announcement, High Vis shares new single “Mind’s a Lie,” which marks new sonic territory for the band, synthesizing inspirations from house, garage, and Pirate Radio into a dance-punk anthem. “Mind’s a Lie” takes stabs of sampled female vocals by celebrated South London singer and DJ Ell Murphy built into a razor wire rhythm of low-slung bass, tense drums, and sparkling guitar before vocalist Graham Sayle’s staunch voice barks harsh truths. “Mind’s a Lie” arrives with a cinematic video shot throughout South East London, written and directed by Martina Pastori and starring Welsh movement artist Sem Osian. The “Mind’s a Lie” visuals explore themes of class, isolation and loneliness and also feature a cameo from vocalist Graham Sayle in the boxing ring across Osian. Guided Tour will include the previously-released single “Mob DLA” and is available for vinyl pre-order in various exclusive colorways from Dais Records (NA), High Vis (NA/EU/UK/AUS), Rough Trade (UK), Going Underground and Seasick Records (US), and all fine local record shops .

Speaking about the "Mind’s a Lie" video, Sayle shares, "I wanted to look at how quickly negative habits can take control when you lack a positive or constructive outlet for your energy. While the language of mental health provision has found fertile ground in the churn of social media, access to essential services has been decimated by the indifference of successive Tory governments. Further division has been stoked through governmental rhetoric and media scapegoating. Without adequate support in times of crisis, life can quickly spiral into an angry and isolated existence."

Additionally, High Vis announces their upcoming headline European tour slated for this November and December and picking up again for a run of UK shows in February 2025. High Vis will be joined by Pain of Truth for the first leg and Narrow Head for the second leg. This fall, High Vis will be supporting Show Me The Body across their CORPUS GROWS North American tour with additional support from BIB, Special Interest, ZelooperZ, Bearcat, and HiTech on select dates.

High Vis’ run with Show Me The Body will follow their various festival performances around the globe this summer, including Hurricane Festival in Germany, Hellfest in France, Glastonbury in the UK, Louder Than Life in Kentucky, Aftershock in California, Mondra & Roll in Spain, and more. High Vis will also be accompanying Speed for a run of shows in Australia this August and September alongside Pain of Truth and Fuse.

High Vis have announced a West Coast tour for this summer. The band will be playing in the US and one show in Vancouver, BC. Tickets for this run of shows go on sale on Friday, May 19. High Vis have exploded onto the DIY scene, earning a devoted following for their intense live shows and immediate lyrics that tackle themes from class politics to the challenges of everyday life.

Their exceptional second full-length album, Blending released in the Fall of last year, landed on countless end of year lists and garnered overwhelming high acclaim worldwide from the likes of Stereogum, The Fader, NME, The Guardian, NPR, BBC 6Music, Revolver, Kerrang!, Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1 and more.

Now after years of anticipation, the band are finally set to tour North America for the first time ever just after their sold out EU / UK run. The tour kicks off April 1st at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn and continues through Canada, Chicago, Nashville, Boston, Philadelphia and more. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 20 at 10AM Local. High Vis's signature sound of aggressive, artful punk is as tough as any hardcore record, yet sonically opens beyond the parameters of any genre or scene. As the title of Blending suggests, is about bringing all these new strands and elements into what the band are about at their core to forge something entirely new.

While Blending shows High Vis's sound blossoming even further from their exemplary 2019 debut No Sense No Feeling, the album represents another leap forward lyrically, too. Talking frankly about poverty and class politics, frontman Graham Sayle's lyrics have always addressed the downtrodden and discarded communities across Britain slipping below the waterline. This time around, Sayle's lost none of that social consciousness, but he's looked at himself and his own emotional landscape, and in the process created something that feels more universal, that reaches a hand-out to people and ultimately gives a message of hope.

Today they've released a moving new video "Trauma Bonds." Sayle explains, "Filmed and directed by Jonah West and shot over the course of a year, the video is an emotionally charged portrait of Jamz and Sean. Two people negotiating the world whilst living in the shadow of trauma. The video is dedicated to everyone carrying the weight of grief for those taken too soon, and those struggling with their own existence. When you're going through hell, keep going."

High Vis announce autumn headline tour

DIY punks High Vis have announced details of an autumn headline tour – including two UK dates.

Following the huge success of their excellent second album Blending, High Vis have announced a headline tour.

The band will be heading to Europe and then returning for two shows in the UK later this year, kicking things off in Brussels on October 15 before hitting Luxembourg, Paris, Utrecht, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig and Munich. Then, they’ll play London’s Islington Assembly Hall on October 27, and Birkenhead Future Yard the following night. Before that, High Vis will be playing various summer shows including sets at Outbreak Fest, 2000trees and Reading & Leeds.

“So happy to be able to announce our European tour this October,” say the band. “Trying to organise tours whilst holding down civilian jobs is a nightmare, but we can’t wait to get out again! “We’re also really excited to play places that have been so influential on our lives. The painting of Ski’s estate is by our mate @franklaws . We’ve made music in his tiny back room for years and it felt right that it was on the poster. The last Euro tour was insane and can’t wait to do it all over again!”

Visitor Information

Nightly Stargazing Activities

Looking to see some stars on Maunakea? Join us at the Maunakea Visitor Information Station ( VIS ) for a spectacular view of stars, constellations, satellites, and more (weather permitting).

The VIS is located at the 9200 ft/ 2800 m elevation and open daily from 9 am to 9 pm. In addition to visitor exhibits, you will find a gift shop, the flushing toilets, and knowledgeable staff to answer your questions. There are no registration, entrance, or parking fees to visit the VIS .

If you decide to come to the VIS past business hours, please make sure you adhere to the UH Rules and Regulations of no camping, sleeping, or starting fires. View the full list of rules for Maunakea .

Our location provides great viewing and most nights you’ll find us above the clouds and nearly touching the stars.

Although we do not have any formal nighttime programs at the VIS , you are still welcome to stop by and look up. The staff at the VIS are well trained and happy to answer your questions regarding Maunakea and astronomy. When we have enough staff available, you can even ask the staff to step outside and point out the constellations and planets visible. In addition, they also know about Wayfinding (Hawaiian Navigation), stories of the area, and various astronomy concepts. However, please do keep in mind that this is weather and staff dependent.

If you are interested in looking through telescopes you can check out our once-a-month free event. This event has limited capacity and does require a registration. Visit Stargazing at the VIS for more information.
