Are only 21+ allowed ? I am planning my daughters 21 birthday but I do have 17 year and 20 yr old. So was just wondering if under 21 are allowed?

Thank you for your interest in Boomerang! All public cruises this 2021 season are 21+, but all ages are welcome on board private charters.

What type of music is played on the boomerang party yacht?

The night we went they play a good mix of Top 40, old school hip hop, reggae and 90's pop. It honestly was a good mix.

If you're looking for a unique experience in DC, the Boomerang Party Yacht delivers! Start your adventure at the bustling Georgetown waterfront, where you can enjoy a drink or a bite before and after your cruise. We set sail around 10pm on a perfect night with a gentle breeze, and the yacht wasn't too crowded, making it an ideal atmosphere. Imagine a nightclub on water: stunning views, fresh air, endless photo ops, and a lively dance floor. The smaller crowd allowed for great conversations and plenty of seating on the deck. They even have cute sailor hats you can get for the photo ops! The staff? Absolutely fantastic and super friendly. Sure, the drinks might be a bit watered down and the snacks are just bags of chips, but if you come prepared and know what to expect, you're in for a blast. So, grab your friends, set your expectations right, and get ready to have an amazing time on the Boomerang Party Yacht!

I've been on this boat at least 3 times in the last 3 years and what a fun and easy way to get outside with your friends. It's all you can drink for about $75. They don't do any shots though. Snacks are provided as well. They have a DJ there on the boat and sometimes the DJ is hit or miss. Obviously with different groups of people they have to do a variety of genres. Overall no complaints. They were even friendly when I spilled my drink. I,however, was super sad as they had no more ginger ale .

Celebrated my friends birthday on the boat and had a great time! Drinks were great and it was a fun atmosphere! Would highly recommend for a fun night out with lots of friends!

I had my friends book the public Open Air Cruise (public) for a birthday party and the experience was awesome! I was communicating with Tonya via email for many weeks prior to the event to ask questions. She was very prompt and thorough with all her responses in answering my questions. We took the night time boat (9:45pm) around DC. There was ample seating, drinks were good, music, energy and vibe, were fantastic. The space was also very clean. The boat also wasn't too crowded and over packed at the time, so all guest groups could have their separate spaces. The music was good, it wasn't too loud and the staff was very accommodating to our requests. I would definitely recommend booking this cool DC experience for a gathering or more upbeat party. It's not really for families or someone looking for a more relaxing cruise. The vibe was much more party so more fun for groups who like to drink and dance.

What does it take for a PARTY YACHT to be a hands-down-five-star PARTY YACHT? Unfortunately, I can't answer that. But what I can speak to qualitatively is my experience on the Boomerang PARTY YACHT. The PARTY YACHT is a boat, really nothing more. There is an enclosed room downstairs (with a disco ball that "only works half the time" [according to the security guard]) and an open deck upstairs, which is nice when the weather is good. Two (2) stars of my review result from the fact that the PARTY YACHT meets the requirements of being a functional boat. One (1) star is attributed to the staff on the boat. The bartender was pleasant (0.25 stars) and had a shot ski (0.50 stars), which was reminiscent of the winter months in the Alps. The security on the boat was very good (0.25 stars)--I can't say I've ever felt as safe on a PARTY YACHT as I did on the Boomerang. (At the same time I had never been on a PARTY YACHT before.) The final one (1) star is attributed to the quality and selection of consumable products on the boat. The drinks at the bar were decent, although really all some variation of soda with liquor. Drinkable but by no means luxury cocktails. There were also several beers and wines to choose from. The music was decent, an soundscape of different eras and genres. Don't pay too much for the Boomerang (as with anything, if you can get a Groupon, that's the way to go), but it can be a fun activity to enjoy with friends.

I do not understand the praise for this load of garbage. It's website points out "top shelf" drinks and "gourmet" snacks. The drinks are all store bought mixers and the best bottles there were Smirnoffs. The gourmet snacks were small bags of Fritos, Cheetos, and Doritos. Dance floor was sticky before we even boarded, and the route taken shows you nothing besides dark views of buildings and trees. Only reason I'm not giving this one star is because it's cheap and the staff understood how terrible the drinks were and offered to give me some vodka and club soda (You have to order from the extremely limited drink menu). Besides the friendly staff this "cruise" was terrible.

Sometimes, before settling on a particular place to go, or thing to do, a reasonable amount of research is performed before a decision is made. However, in this particular case, I wanted to experience D.C. at night, by boat, and took advantage of a last-minute Groupon offer to do so. This decision came quick enough, and the trip was booked. . Fast forward to planned boat departure time. First thought, this boat is way smaller than anticipated. 2nd , and way more disturbing observation and thought, is that the line of people about to board were easily 30 years younger than myself. I was about to be thrown into the center of a 2 hour party boat with an entourage of alcohol-fueled college students. Not exactly what I had in mind for the evening. My thoughts of quiet and relaxation were left behind on the dock. Don't get me wrong, the scheduled excursion was a great venue for a party on the water. I just happened to be in the wrong age bracket for this particular party. Not sure if its possible to post an age appropriate guideline next to the description in order to help others choose a cruise that is more suited to their age. With this being said, DJ, staff, and other guests were friendly and polite. Rating is based on my expectations of the night and not necessarily the overall operations.

This was SO MUCH Fun! If you're thinking about doing It, just go! $65 basically covers everything and the staff could not be nicer. Emanuel and Kelly and the man who checked our IDs were awesome! Will definitely be back. Such a nice day on the water too.

Didn't like it. DIDN'T like it at all!!!!!!!!! (Went on this adventure 6/13/2015 at 7:30 PM) Started off as a good idea. I was getting together with some high school classmates that live in the DMV and this was suggested as cool tour/party. We get checked in and get on. However three people from our party are missing. I notice one (my sister) is on the boat but the one member of the crew (Emmanuel) is not let the other two board. The boat leaves without them. That was the first strike. So I go downstairs to get some drinks (long line and it was hot, like your mama cooking on a summer day and ya'll don't have AC). Get my drinks and try to go back upstairs to only find out I couldn't. The boat only allows a certain number of people on the upper deck. We had to stay in a sauna like cabin for the majority of the trip with the DJ playing music. It was pretty miserable but we tried to make the best of it. Luckily there were windows, every couple of minutes we had peek our heads out to breathe.That was the second strike. We signed up for drinking games but there were no games on this yacht at all. No limbo....nothing! They did play the wooble but that doesn't count! That was the third and final strike! We were finally allowed to come upstairs and the views of DC from the water were nice. I recommend that everyone in your party gets to the location (near Sequoia) about 30 minutes before the boat departs. Then when you get on the yacht don't move from upstairs...not even to get a drink or go to the bathroom (which you may have fainted in, they were gross). Such a disappointment!

For my friend's birthday she decided to do the boozy boat cruise with Boomerang Party Yacht. It was a large group and the boat had plenty of space. Everyone was responsible for buying their ticket-there was a groupon for half off. The staff was very friendly. Even to the point where they would discard your empty cups for you. I highly recommend this if you're looking to celebrate without the hassle of planning. The boat handles everything. Bartender was heavy handed and drinks weren't overpriced. No food on the boat and you cannot bring outside beverages or food. Overall a great time.

Boomerang Pirate Ship, a goofy party on the Potomac River

The newest party-cruise vessel on the Potomac River is a 54-foot, custom-built pirate ship outfitted with 12 water cannons, Jolly Rogers that flap in the breeze and a crow’s nest atop the mast. There’s also a full bar, a DJ booth and two levels of deck with enough room for 90 people and a cutthroat limbo contest.

Because it’s a pirate ship, the crew peppers their speech with “yaaaars” and refers to you as “matey.” You will be offered “grog” and tequila-heavy “Pirate Punch” at the bar, and be threatened with walking the plank if you don’t want to limbo.

So, this isn’t for everyone. There are those who would consider a two-hour pirate-themed cruise a violation of the Geneva Conventions. But there are plenty of others for whom an excursion aboard the Boomerang Pirate Ship presents an excuse for a goofy night out.

This is the sister ship of the Boomerang Party Yacht , a more conventional party boat that launched last year. The original's indoor dance floor seems like a place to celebrate a bar mitzvah or prom. The Pirate Ship, on the other hand, looks like something from Disneyland, designed to excite kids and awaken childhood dreams in adults.

Co-owner Nikki DuBois says she and her husband, Dave, had family adventures in mind when they commissioned the custom-built pirate ship earlier this year. The boat takes children on a theatrical adventure Wednesday through Sunday, complete with a water cannon battle. But the couple also had a feeling that there were enough adult wannabe pirates out there to make it worth their while to host nightly cruises on the Potomac with booze, music and great views of the monuments.

Some really get into the spirit. DuBois guesses that at least one-third of the adults who make their way onboard are decked out in some form of pirate garb, from women wearing off-the-shoulder blouses and black boots to guys in button-down shirts who tie on a skull-and-crossbones bandana. (An entire bachelorette party once showed up looking like extras from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” DuBois says.) Sadly, the night I sailed featured no pirate costumes outside of the crew, so DuBois wandered through the crowd passing out eyepatches and plastic cutlasses.

The trip itself is rather uneventful, departing from Georgetown’s Washington Harbour and cruising as far as Reagan National Airport or Old Town Alexandria before turning around and sailing back. The monuments and the Kennedy Center gleam off the water. There are two decks — the main deck and a smaller rooftop above the bar — where partiers can hang out. The upper level has benches where you can relax, while the more open main deck is good for dancing to the steady stream of contemporary pop hits and ’80s tunes. Thankfully, there are no sea chanteys, although reggae bands perform during some Sunday cruises.

Weather can put a damper on things. In case of rain, the ship sails for the Key or 14th Street bridges and idles underneath, waiting for precipitation to pass. (“Our pirate cove,” DuBois calls it.) In the case of more serious storms, the ship returns to the dock.

You may decide that the pirate life is not for you. But if you forget about being self-conscious for a couple of hours, have a few rum drinks and don an eyepatch, you may have a pretty good time, matey.

• BOARDING LOCATION:  Our cruises exclusively depart from and return to the Georgetown Waterfront. This picturesque location is nestled in front of an array of iconic waterfront bars & restaurants, including Nick’s Riverside Grill, Tony & Joe’s, Sequoia’s, Fiola Mare, Farmers & Fishers, and Guapo’s. The closest street address is 3100 K St NW, but you will be meeting our vessel in front of Nick’s Riverside Grill. Please note that the Georgetown dock is a shared space, and commercial boats are limited to a 15-minute stay. To ensure a smooth departure, it’s crucial that all guests arrive on time. Regrettably, we are unable to delay the boat’s departure for late arrivals.
• CATERING/FOOD: For private charters, clients have the flexibility to collaborate with any external catering company, as our vessel does not feature a galley or kitchen facility. If needed, we are more than happy to recommend our preferred caterer. Food should be pre-prepared and can be kept hot using Sterno if the caterer prefers this method. Additionally, guests are welcome to bring their own food platters, pizzas, or snacks without the need for an external caterer. Your culinary options are open to your preferences, budget, and convenience.
• BEVERAGE OPTIONS: When booking a private charter, our inclusive pricing covers a premium open bar featuring a selection of unique cocktails, seltzers, beer, wines, sodas, juices, and water. If preferred, we can keep our bar closed, offering only water. Alternatively, you have the option for a ‘soda, juice, & water only’ open bar experience. • MUSIC:  We often recommend charter guests hire a professional DJ for their cruise, since this is typically the most fun.
