These fuel stations are always busy and not always the cleanest. This one is a smaller one for both trucks and POV's with single line pumps. Parking area is small. The high octane gas is $0.10 higher than the location across the street. Inside is very outdated and crowded with narrow aisles and barely any room for lines at the counter. Always has a very dirt dusty feel to it. The store itself is also small. Not near the selection as other Love's stores. They didn't have Frito's which I was looking for. There is a Subway and a Chesters Chicken attached. Staff is plenty helpful, always talkative.
When I was a teenager, my job was cleaning dog kennels. I learned that cleaning pee and poo was just my job. When going to vets, dog care, pet sitting, I realize the nasty funk is a sign of their care and cleaning skills, not the dogs. Everyone stopping here uses the bathroom. The pee everywhere and nasty smell folding out of the bathroom has less to do with the patrons than the piss poor cleaning skills and give a "hoot" of the staff. There's a reason Buc-ees is wildly popular. They get where most patrons are going and they care. There are too many nearby stops to spend my money at than try this again. I'm sure they focus on what they need to do as part of their business.
This is a new Love's to compete with the megastore across the street. I had to get gas but the megastore across the street was blocked with some sort of emergency. I would rather had gone across the street but needed gas. This location is a typical store, nothing new. The megastore across is the choice when driving through.
Car was running on orange so I pulled in to the 7-11 across the street for gas. I probably could've made it to Love's but didn't want to risk it since I was already running the last of the fumes. Then I decided to come across to Loves to use the bathroom. Why? Cuz I can always count on Love's to have clean bathrooms! Not to mention some sort of popular fast food connected to it, which in this case... Subway! Albeit this location is smaller and a little older compared to other Love's stops, it's still just as brightly lit both inside and outside. Makes a great place to feel safe napping at when you're getting sleepy on the road!
Truckers this is a pretty busy location, have never stopped here and it not be busy. Expect a lengthy wait at the fuel island. Could practically do your 30 min break just waiting to fuel haha. Ladies restroom was decent today, husband said the men's was ok, not exactly the best Loves travel center for cleanliness I'm guessing they would blame the high volume of customers and lack of employees. But still you need to keep your business clean.
Pretty busy in the fuel islands today, been here about 20 minutes and nothing much has moved.
The bathroom was clearly not cleaned before the shower. The toilet had stuff on it that I don't need to mention. This is not a good Love's. There are plenty that are but definitely not this one.
Really clean with nice workers. The place has good lighting also and has ok gas prices if you are not picky with what kind of gas you put in your car.
Easy off/on from I-35 and $0.20 cheaper than the station at the next exit. Bathroom was clean.
Never ceases to amaze me that I somehow end up in this place all the time when traveling. Its located in a great spot and its decent. The bathrooms are messy but not terrible and it has a subway so it has decent food. It looks pretty run down from the outside but its ok. However the people were really nice here.
Maybe if they tried to clean the bathroom they would know have the lights are burnt out. Great disappointment, since Love's normally has better truck stops.

2024 fall trends: Shoulder season savings, leaf peeping, and event-cations
Key Takeaways
- Fall has been the most affordable season to travel with price-per-night at its lowest compared to the rest of the year.
- The top three US states that had the highest percent of stays in the fall were North Dakota, Maine, and Massachusetts.
- Passion travel continues to play an influential role when it comes to travel this fall.
- Japan continues to be the top trending international destination for Americans this fall for a second year in a row.
As fall quickly approaches and the leaves start to change, Airbnb is revealing travel trends for this upcoming shoulder season, including data showing that fall 1 has been the most affordable time to travel on Airbnb. In addition, we’re highlighting the top cities to get the best deals during the off-season, trending destinations, as well as prime fall escapes that embody the season.
Affordable off-season destinations
From smaller crowds to milder weather, traveling during the off-season has its perks. One of the best kept secrets is how affordable fall travel can be compared to the summer and peak winter months. When comparing price-per-night over recent years, prices during the year tend to be the lowest in the September through November timeframe, 2 making this a great opportunity for guests to travel affordably.
When surveying guests about what’s important to them when deciding between booking an Airbnb listing or other accommodations, over 85 percent selected price as a contributing factor. 3 With that in mind, fall may be the ideal time to take advantage of these crisp savings.
The cities that saw the most savings for traveling during the fall span all across the US, from the waterfront to the great outdoors. Below are some of the cities 4 that had the most savings during fall: 5
- Somers Point, NJ
- Myrtle Beach, SC
- Norfolk, VA
- Panama City, FL
- West Des Moines, IA
- Cheyenne, WY
- Spokane Valley, WA
Discover prime fall destinations
Nothing says fall like apple picking, pumpkin patches, leaf peeping, and spooky vibes. It’s no surprise that travelers want to embrace the season by going to these niche destinations that embody that true essence of fall. The top three US states that had the highest percentage of stays during the fall season were North Dakota, Maine, and Massachusetts. 6 From stunning foliage to crisp fall air, below are some of the top US cities 7 that will “leaf” you in the fall spirit:
- Bar Harbor, ME
- Walla Walla, WA
- Hartford, VT
- Columbia Falls, MT
- Mills River, NC
- Superior, WI
- Eureka Springs, AR
The top trending destinations this fall
“Event-cations” are here to stay. Passion tourism has been a key theme for travel this past year and shows no signs of slowing down. When looking at destinations that US travelers are increasingly searching for this fall, it’s clear that they want to sing-along to their favorite artists. The highly anticipated return of America’s pop icon from the European leg of her tour played an influential role on the list of trending 8 destinations with cities like Miami Gardens, FL, and Indianapolis, IN making the cut. Americans are also searching for the other side of the Atlantic Ocean to Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest and Brussels, Belgium for various food and wine festivals that take place during fall. Below are four of the trending destinations:
- Miami Gardens, FL
- Indianapolis, IN
- Munich, Germany
- Brussels, Belgium
However, there’s one country that has remained as the top trending 9 international destination for Americans–Japan. Year after year, travelers have continued to seek out its unique blend of tradition and modernity. Fall is the perfect time to visit Japan as the country transforms into a scenic landscape of red, orange, and gold leaves. The temperature is also great for outdoor activities. The trending Japanese cities 10 searched by Americans this fall continue to be Tokyo and Osaka.

It’s cuffing season for horny tarantulas as thousands of spiders travel the us looking for love.
They’ll go anywhere for love.
Arachnophobes beware: thousands of horny tarantulas are emerging from their subterranean dwellings and scouring America’s southwest for a soulmate.
“This event does happen every year, usually around the same time,” Lauren Davidson, Associate Curator of Entomology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, told BBC Science Focus of the frisky phenomenon.
The mass mating migration generally occurs from June-October (depending on the region), during which reproductively mature males — aged 8-10 years old — will seek mates across Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
What prompts this paramour pilgrimage?
“The females tend to stay in their burrows and emit pheromones to let males know where to find them,” Davidson explained.
Then, turned-on male tarantulas emerge from their silk-lined burrows hungry for love. Once they’ve tracked the perfume down to its source, the spider suitor will “knock at the door” by rhythmically tapping at the entrance.
If the courtship display is deemed acceptable, she could meet him.
Naturally, the idea of thousands of tarantulas — which are America’s largest spider — going on a love Odyssey might seem apocalyptic.
However, this sex pedition is actually rare to come across.
Male tarantulas are only alive for one mating season — they spend the rest of their lives underground — and only travel around half a mile from their burrows.
“It is very cyclical and region-dependent,” Davidson explained. “You really have to drive quite a way out of the city to see any of these males.”
“If people haven’t noticed these large numbers before, then they likely won’t notice them this year either,” she added.
Not to mention that tarantulas are also nocturnal, so the majority of this soulmate searching occurs at night.
If one does come across one of these amorous eight-leggers, they have nothing to fear as most are docile to the point that people handle them in the field sans incidents.
“They can bite, but their venom is comparable to a bee sting,” said Davidson.
However, the horny spiders have been known to cause traffic pileups while crossing the road.
In fact, these pilgrimages are much more perilous for the critters themselves, as along with getting run over, they can be devoured by the very female they are trying to court.

Kate Love Reveals Harrowing Travel Experience En Route to SI Swimsuit Debut in Chile
Martha zaytoun | aug 25, 2024.
For Kate Love , booking her debut Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoot in 2013 was a dream come true. The travel experience, on the other hand, was not.
The photo shoot was set to take place on Easter Island, Chile , a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Love, a New York resident at the time, was set to fly from the big city to mainland Chile and from there to the Polynesian island. It “was my dream job, so getting booked for this was so exciting,” she said on the set of the 60th anniversary Legends photo shoot in Hollywood, Fla. this year. “I couldn’t wait.” But her travel issues began before she could even leave the United States.
“It was the day Storm Sandy hit New York,” she explained. “Every flight got delayed [or] cancelled. Everything bad that could happen on a travel day happened.”
And that was only the start. After delays, Love finally made it to mainland Chile, where she was set to board a smaller plane and for another six hours to Easter Island. Mid-flight, the crew announced that they were having mechanical problems and would have to turn the plane around and fly back to the mainland. Six hours of waiting at the airport and six more hours of flying later, Love finally arrived on Easter Island.
“I remember just balling—like I [was] so tired and scared and confused,” she recalled. “Then getting there and just having to go with it, just turn up and do the thing. It all worked out—great weather, a really cool place and beautiful. But [there was] every obstacle to get there, to start this whole process.”
From the looks of the photos, you could never guess what Love underwent to make it to the location. And, thankfully, the experience didn’t deter her from returning to the SI Swimsuit set. Since, she has posed for 10 more annual issues—each feature as stunning as the last.

I Walk 10,000+ Steps a Day in New York City, and These Comfy, Celeb-loved Sneakers Save My Feet
Stylish, comfortable, and affordable. What more could you need?
Travel + Leisure / Madison Woiten
Before moving to New York City, I completely underestimated just how much I would be walking on a daily basis and the importance of having the appropriate footwear to do so. Even on days when I simply go to the office and back home, I can easily rack up over 10,000 steps. After the first few months here, my feet were tired . However, almost two years later, I now like to consider myself a seasoned pro when it comes to finding the perfect everyday footwear for walkable cities .
When I first started my search for finding a sneaker with great support, I needed something that was both comfortable but would also go with a variety of outfits. Sometimes, I prefer to not compromise my style for comfort, so when I found the New Balance 530 shoes , I was pleasantly surprised. The brand has been having a big moment lately for their footwear (even celebrities love them), and I can absolutely see why. If I have a day of errands or a planned hot girl walk, I grab these New Balance shoes for their all-day comfort and effortless style.
New Balance 530 Shoes
Dick's Sporting Goods
These New Balance sneakers are so comfortable thanks to the brand’s special “Abzorb” foam cushioning which supports your feet and absorbs any impact. The body of the shoe is made from a breathable mesh that helps your feet stay cool throughout the day. I’ve loved wearing these throughout the summer, and I’ve actively noticed the difference the mesh makes in comparison to some of my other athletic shoes; plus, the soles help me feel light on my feet.
Jordyn Burrell
The brand may have been known for their “dad shoes” at one point, but their recent designs have shown that New Balance knows how to refresh a product in ways that everyone will admire. The New Balance 530 is the perfect mix of contemporary and classic, and it’s also simple enough so it can work with almost any everyday outfit that you’d like to pair it with. The style currently comes in a few different colors, including options with touches of green, yellow, or red. I’ve grown to be rather fond of my pair that has hints of green against an off-white base. The style is neutral enough to go with the majority of my clothing, but it also has that subtle pop of color to help it stand out.
Whether it be with a pair of running shorts and a sweatshirt or maybe a matching workout set, these are easy to throw on and quickly run out of the house without having to worry about if they fit the look. However, it can also be fun to pair these with something not as conventional. One of my favorite looks that I’ve styled these with included a gray blazer, a plain fitted tee, denim straight-leg jeans, and a baseball hat, and surprisingly, it worked. I’ve also seen these paired exceptionally well with dresses or skirts, along with dainty accessories. They’re the perfect pair of shoes to travel with simply because of their amazing versatility.
You don’t have to take only my word for how great these sneakers are. Everyone has been obsessing over the brand lately, from TikTok shoppers to stars like Hailey Beiber, Kendall Jenner, and Millie Bobby Brown who have been spotted in these New Balance shoes.
Customers also rave about them. “I bought these to go on vacation because I knew I was gonna walk A LOT, and I was surprised about how comfy they are,” said one recent shopper. Several people also mentioned the different places that they love to wear these sneakers. One customer mentioned that it’s their gym shoe, and they “appreciate the style and comfort.” Another reviewer added that they bought a pair for school, and that they’re “such a good staple.”
If you want to continue building your sneaker collection, I’ve also included some other comfortable sneakers that I’ve been eyeing below.

This XXL Suitcase Lets Me Indulge My Inner Overpacker
Let me preface this by saying, I am not a pro packer . I'm not one of those people who has packing cubes or organizers. I fold, I stack, and that's about it. In that same vein, I'm not someone who plans my outfits. My packing style is basically: Bring all the essentials so I have whatever I need for whatever mood strikes while traveling. I'll admit, it's not the most efficient but it's how my brain works.
With all that said, you can imagine how overwhelmed I felt when tasked with packing for a two-month stint away from home. I essentially needed to pack for four different vibes and climates: A week at a yoga retreat in Greece (chic vacation-wear and enough workout clothes), a month in coastal Maine (casual summer with sweaters for chilly nights), a week in NYC (summer-in-the-city vibes), and a week in Florida (swimwear and clothes designed to withstand sweat). Simply put, I needed a lot of stuff. Oh, did I mention my dog was coming with me? (Add in a 10-pound bag of dog food to calculations.)
With my travel anxiety at an all-time high, I went in search for an XXL suitcase that would help me manage packing for those four destinations. After a ton of research, I landed on the Calpak Hue Large Trunk Luggage ($290) — and I can now say with confidence that it was the right choice. Keep reading for why this supersized bag made traveling a breeze.
What I Like About the Calpak Hue Large Trunk Luggage
Obviously, it's just plain large. There's so much space for me to fill; it's exhilarating! I was able to pack about six pairs of shoes, full-size beauty products, and the wide range of clothes I would need for every leg of my trip.
I like that instead of being stout and wide, like many of the larger suitcases on the market, this one has more of a trunk shape in that it's taller. This allowed me to have two rows of folded clothes rather than have a weird middle section where things end up being stuffed in. I know some people like luggage with more compartments, but I actually prefer the more free-form style of the Calpak. I feel like that allows me to customize what I'm including, and not feel constrained by certain compartment sizes. I also appreciate that one side includes a zip-around to keep more moveable things in place (i.e. shoes, cosmetic bags, hair tools) and a side with the compression strap that can adjust accordingly.
It was also important to me that the suitcase itself was pretty light, so as to give me as much packing weight as possible. This suitcase is only 11.75 pounds, which is one of the lightest that I found available that also has the more modern look that I wanted. For example, the large Away trunk comes in at 12.3 pounds, the Beis large check in roller is close at 11.84 pounds, and Rimowa's large trunk weighs a whopping 15 pounds. Ultimately, my bag weighed in at just over 50 pounds, which was a big accomplishment for me.
I also want to note that this bag took a beating during this trip and never gave out. Sure, it has some scratches and marks to indicate it's been used, but there are no dents, the wheels are spinning like the first day I got it, and the handle smoothly goes up and down.
What To Consider Before Trying the Calpak Hue Large Trunk Luggage
If you're someone who likes a ton of compartments or if you want luggage that includes a hanger section, this suitcase might not be for you. It's pretty minimal, with just the two large zipper compartments, one very small zippered compartment on the side, and a compression strap.
It's also important to note that this suitcase is on the taller side, so it's probably not going to be the easiest for a kid to roll around. You'll also want to keep in mind the weight limits for the airline you're flying (it's usually 50 pounds) and be prepared to pay a fee if your bag goes over. Having a large bag sometimes makes me throw caution to the wind and suddenly I end up with a 100-pound monstrosity full of shoes, so be sure to keep tabs on yourself.
Who Is the Calpak Hue Large Trunk Luggage Best For?
Anyone who is a chronic overpacker like me, or if you're traveling for a long period of time. It's also great for families (dog children also count).
Additional Details
- The suitcase is made with a 100-percent polycarbonate shell for long-lasting use.
- It includes a TSA-approved lock.
- It can be expanded for an extra 2 inches of additional space.
- There are four classic color ways and two limited-edition colors.
- It has 360-degree spinner wheels.
- This is the largest Calpak suitcase available.
- It weighs 11.75 pounds.
- The dimensions are 31.5" x 15.5" x 12.75".
Where Is the Calpak Hue Large Trunk Luggage Available
Most colors are only available on the Calpak website. If you want it in black, you can also find the suitcase on the Net-a-Porter website.

Ukraine war latest: Russia's huge air attacks this week 'cost Putin $1.3bn'
Russia has launched several air attacks on Ukraine this week, costing Moscow a reported $1.3bn. Last night, Kyiv came under drone attack for the third night in four days, with debris injuring people and damaging buildings.

Russia's attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure is taking the country "closer and closer" to a total blackout, says one of its MPs.
The Kyiv School of Economics Institute estimates that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has caused $16bn (£13.46bn) of damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Speaking on Sky News, Kira Rudik, who lives in Kyiv, says the city's home do not have electricity for the "majority of the day".
"Even right now, I'm speaking to you all being on a diesel generator," she said.
"It's terrifying that still, by this point, we are unable to protect us from those vicious attacks in full. And Russia keeps bringing us closer and closer to that total blackout.
"How we are going to survive the winter is unclear right now, because the weather outside is still good. But once it gets colder and people start to consume more energy, we will not be able to handle it."
Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in June that Russia had destroyed 80% of Ukraine's thermal energy generation and a third of its hydro generation.
But this week, he declined to elaborate on what further damage Monday's strikes had caused.
"I don’t really like energy PR," he said. "It's not very helpful when the enemy knows what damage they have done.
"Let the information about the condition of our energy facilities and what we are currently doing there be kept quiet."
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk says Warsaw's allies have recommended it shows restraint over shooting down unidentified targets in its airspace.
Poland said a drone had likely entered its airspace early on Monday morning during a Russian bombardment of Ukraine, with the object said to have flown 15 miles (25km) into Polish territory, after which it disappeared from radar.
Mr Tusk was asked yesterday about the incident but said it was difficult to identify objects in real time.
"The problem with shooting down is often of a different nature," he explained.
"It is often a fraction of a second, which makes it impossible to check whether it is not a civilian object, whether it is not a stray plane."
He added that Poland's allies had recommended some restraint over the matter and said he appreciated his country's military for their "reasonable, balanced position".
"They are not interested in opening fire every time something moves in the sky," he said.
War crimes prosecutors have inspected the sites of yesterday's Russian strikes on the eastern town of Kupyansk.
In his nightly address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russian glide bomb had hit the town and resulted in deaths.
"There was a strike – right in the city centre, people were under the rubble. Unfortunately, there are fatalities."
The regional prosecutor's office said the strike had injured 14 people and damaged the city hall.
A hotel, residential buildings, outbuildings, cars, shops, administrative buildings, and other civilian infrastructure were damaged, it added.
Kupyansk is part of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine and sits 22 miles (35km) from the Russian border.
Ukrainian shelling in Russia's Belgorod region has killed one person and injured others, according to officials.
Posting on his Telegram channel, governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported the attacks had taken place in the town of Shebekino.
There, he said, one man died and two other people had to be taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds.
He also reported two buildings were damaged and a car caught fire.
For context: The Belgorod region borders Ukraine and the Kursk region of Russia, which Ukraine invaded on 6 August.
There have been Russian reports this week that Ukraine has attempted to break into Belgorod, with Moscow's defence ministry saying the situation "remains difficult but under control".
Russia's huge air attacks across Ukraine this week cost Moscow almost $1.3bn, UK representative to the UN James Kariuki has said.
Moscow launched one of its biggest air attacks of the war so far on Monday, with drones and missiles fired into more than half of Ukrainian regions.
At least seven people were killed and power facilities were damaged, Kyiv has said.
Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting, Mr Kariuki said the attacks represent "continued evidence" that Russia is intentionally targeting civilian energy infrastructure.
He also said the "cowardly" attacks cost the Kremlin almost $1.3bn (£1.14bn). The figures come from a report from Forbes Ukraine and Ekonmichna Pravda.
"The consequence of Putin’s miscalculation for the Russian people is increasingly evident," added Mr Kariuki.
Authorities in Kyiv say debris from intercepted Russian drones injured three people and caused damage to buildings overnight.
It was the third attack on the Ukrainian capital in four days.
Kyiv's air defences downed more than 10 Russian drones, according to the city's military chief, Serhiy Popko.
Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported that apartments in the Holosiivskyi district were damaged by falling debris.
One person was hurt when a downed drone fell on a road and destroyed a car, he added.
Welcome back to our coverage of the war in Ukraine.
Yesterday, a Russian missile struck Volodymyr Zelenskyy's home town of Kryvyi Rih as Ukraine was observing an official day of mourning for an attack that killed four people the day before.
Meanwhile, authorities in the Kursk region said additional security measures would be introduced at the nuclear plant there.
Earlier, Russian troops had claimed they'd defused an unexploded US-supplied missile that was shot down and found near the Kursk nuclear facility.
Here are the other key lines from the last 24 hours:
- Russia banned entry to 92 US citizens, including journalists, lawyers and the heads of what it claims are key military and industrial firms upholding "Washington's Russophobic stance";
- The deputy director of the CIA, David Cohen, said it would be difficult for Russia to regain the territory it had lost to Ukraine in the Kursk region;
- Moscow dismissed Volodymyr Zelenskyy's suggestion that Kyiv would submit a plan to Washington on how to end the war;
- Russia reopened two airports serving the cities of Kazan and Nizhnekamsk after briefly suspending flights for safety reasons.
We'll be back with more updates and analysis tomorrow, but before we go, here's a recap of the key developments that took place today:
- A Russian missile struck Volodymyr Zelenskyy's home town of Kryvyi Rih;
- Ukrainian drones set oil tanks on fire at a depot in Russia's Rostov region and a depot in Russia's western region of Kirov, according to reports;
- Russia said it wanted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take a "more objective and clearer" stance on nuclear energy after its chief visited Kursk's nuclear power plant;
- Russian troops claimed to have defused an unexploded US-supplied missile that they said was shot down and found near the Kursk nuclear facility;
- Sir Keir Starmer and Olaf Scholz said the UK and Germany's support for Ukraine remained "unyielding";
- Additional security measures will be introduced at Kursk's nuclear plant from tomorrow, authorities in the region said.
Pavel Durov, the chief executive of Telegram, has been charged with allegedly allowing criminal activity on the messaging app.
French judges have barred Mr Durov from leaving France pending further investigation, but he has avoided being held in custody with a €5m bail.
The billionaire was arrested in France on Saturday after his private jet landed at Le Bourget airport outside Paris.
The Russian-born entrepreneur - who became a French citizen in 2021 - is accused of operating a platform which is being used for child sexual abuse material and by organised crime gangs, for drug trafficking and fraud.
Telegram has insisted it abides by EU laws and its moderation is "within industry standards and constantly improving".
Its statement added: "It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner is responsible for abuse of that platform."
Mr Durov's arrest in France, and four days of questioning, has caused outrage in Russia.
Paper planes - representing Telegram's logo - haver been placed in Moscow in support of the billionaire.
Some government officials claim his detention was politically motivated and proof of the West's double standard on freedom of speech.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call that Russia was ready to provide Durov with all necessary assistance given his Russian citizenship, but that his French citizenship complicated the situation.
We have been reporting today on Russia's advances in the direction of the key mining city of Pokrovsk, which sits in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk region.
Moscow sees taking control of the city as an important stepping stone to annexing the entire Donbas region.
And Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned the situation near Pokrovsk is "difficult".
Now, security expert Maria Avdeeva has shared footage from inside Pokrovsk and said the city is "tense" and "preparing for the looming Russian offensive".
