Cardiff Castle is a unique site with 2000 years of history. It was started in the 1st century AD by the Romans who built the original fort. In the 11th century, the Normans constructed the Keep that still dominates the Castle Green.

The medieval Lords of Glamorgan began work on the House during the 15th century but it was the Bute family in the 19th century who transformed the House into the opulent Victorian Gothic home it is today. During World War II the walls which surround the Castle were used as air raid shelters; a place of safety for thousands of Cardiff citizens. A reconstruction of the shelters has been opened for visitors to explore.

We are always looking at ways of developing our educational service and welcome any questions and suggestions that teachers, and other educational professionals, might have about our offer.

All our sightseeing cruises offer guided commentary providing engaging insight into the history of Cardiff Bay.

Our tours last around 45 minutes and take in all the sights of Cardiff Bay with commentary. Our boat can carry 55 people but if your group is larger we often split the groups and run two trips.

To book a school group trip email us using the form on this page to discuss how we can help you (and your class) get the most from Cardiff Cruises. To avoid disappointment we advise school groups to book in advance as summer is an extremely busy period for us.

School groups receive free adult tickets in proportion to the number of child tickets purchased.
