Jusqu’à maintenant, le variant Omicron, récemment découvert en Afrique du Sud, n’est pas synonyme d’inquiétude pour les voyageurs d'Ottawa et de Gatineau. Mais les agences de voyages doivent répondre à de nombreuses questions de la part de leurs clients qui veulent à tout prix éviter les mésaventures loin de la maison.

Dans les bureaux de l'agence Voyages Rideau Travel, à Ottawa, on reçoit surtout des appels de la part de gens qui s’apprêtent à boucler leurs valises et à partir très bientôt.

Ils se demandent s’ils ont tous les documents nécessaires pour ne pas se faire refuser l’embarquement, soit en partant ou en rentrant à la maison , a expliqué la copropriétaire, Carole Doré.

On a eu quelques appels de clients qui partent dans les prochains jours. Ils veulent voir leurs options , a ajouté celle qui a tout de même reçu un ou deux appels de clients qui ont choisi d’annuler.

Ce qu'on dit au client, c’est que depuis mardi, il faut être doublement vacciné pour embarquer dans un avion au départ du Canada , a dit celle qui voyagera à Punta Cana dans deux semaines.

Le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est qu’il s’agit de tout un casse-tête pour les agences de voyages.

Ça change tellement rapidement qu’il faut vraiment prévoir chaque destination et chaque date de départ , illustre Carole Doré.

Carole Doré a aussi remarqué que les clients qui font preuve d’inquiétude sont ceux qui ont organisé un voyage afin de pouvoir renouer avec les membres de leur famille après environ deux ans. Ça les inquiète beaucoup plus que ceux qui vont au Mexique ou en République dominicaine. Eux, ils ne sont pas vraiment inquiets encore.

CATHÉDRALE NOTRE-DAME

Cette sublime cathédrale de style néo-gothique a été désignée lieu historique national du Canada en 1990, en raison de sa grande valeur patrimoniale pour le pays. Sa construction en pierre calcaire et ses deux tours jumelles la caractérisent à l’extérieur, autant que ses superbes statues de bois et boiseries à l’intérieur.

Parc de la gatineau.

Ce parc, situé à 15 minutes du centre-ville d'Ottawa, est surnommé le poumon vert de l’Outaouais pour sa riche biodiversité et pour ses étendues verdoyantes de collines et de forêts. Les gens s’y rendent pour y voir des sites patrimoniaux , dont celui du domaine Mackenzie-King, pour pratiquer la randonnée à travers les quelques 183 km de sentiers (accessibles du 15 avril au 15 novembre), mais aussi pour le vélo , la baignade et le camping en été. En hiver, ce sont la raquette et le ski de fond qui sont les grandes vedettes.

On y trouve également des promenades panoramiques à faire en voiture, qui vous mèneront entre autres à des belvédères, des chutes et des lacs. Le parc est ouvert à l’année, 24 heures sur 24, sauf en cas de très mauvais temps.

SANSOTEI RAMEN ($$)

Le premier Sansotei Ramen a vu le jour à Toronto et possède maintenant plusieurs succursales, dont celle d’Ottawa, qui ne fini plus de conquérir de nouveaux amateurs. On y sert une belle variété de soupes aux nouilles de type ramen à partir de bouillons préparés sur place tous les jours et des accompagnements comme les ailes de poulet, le Zangi (poulet frit), le gyoza (dumplings japonais au porc poêlés), la salade d’algues et le gyudon (riz au boeuf et oignons caramélisés). Si un dessert vous tente, essayez le gâteau au fromage à la mangue.

FLORA HALL BREWING ($$)

Cette microbrasserie, située dans un bâtiment historique qui abritait dès 1927 une entreprise de réparation de radios automobile, a ouvert ses portes en octobre 2017. Elle est depuis un incontournable à Ottawa avec sa grande variété de bières fabriquées à partir d’ingrédients de première qualité, sa salle à manger chaleureuse et sa courte liste de plats créatifs et réconfortants.

Dates : mi-mai 

Le festival, né sous la forme d'un cadeau des Pays-Bas placé sous le signe de l'amitié, est devenu le plus important festival des tulipes du monde et Ottawa, la capitale des tulipes d'Amérique du Nord. C'est au parc des Commissaires que l'on trouve le plus grand nombre de ces fleurs, environ 300 000. Un service de navette emprunte la Route des tulipes pour permettre aux visiteurs d'admirer des massifs de tulipes et des jardins spectaculaires en bordure du canal.

Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival

Le Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival est le plus important de sa catégorie en Amérique du Nord et il se déroule au parc Mooney's Bay. Il propose des courses auxquelles participent quelques 190 équipes qui comptent environ 5 000 rameurs. Plus de 70 000 spectateurs prennent part à des activités culturelles, familiales et musicales.

Ottawa est une ville surprenante par le mélange de styles architecturaux très différents , ce qui enlève souvent la valeur des immeubles anciens de style victorien coincés entre une multitude de tours sans âme ni attrait particulier . Visite du Sénat du Canada , et de beaux monuments à voir cependant . Au final , 2 nuités suffisent pour visiter la ville .
