Upon entering the park, a well-lit museum displaying a wide variety of butterfly species greets visitors. The collection contains samples from different parts of the Philippines and Asia, while the lower part of the museum shows off various local sea shells from different parts of the country’s coastal areas.

According to its owner Inday Nelly, she was 7 years old when she awoke from a dream that left her with visions of a mysterious cave. A sense of duty compelled her to leave her home town in Iloilo to travel the country in search of the natural underground chamber. Eventually, she found it in Antipolo. Using a makeshift explosive, she to blew up a tiny coin-sized opening into an entrance that led to her mystical cave. Inside she found intricate limestone formations that were shaped like biblical events and religious formations. 

Today, the site may be reached through a steep set of stairs. Upon entry, you will be greeted by huge stalactites and stalagmites and a natural basin that collects dripping water from the rock formations. The water is believed to have healing properties, while the entire cave is up to 8 stories deep, with only the first floor open to tourists.

There are lighting fixtures everywhere that allow visitors to see interesting sights like glittering white walls in various corners, bell-shaped formations, and popular figures like the “Eagle Pride” and “Sheep of Humility”.

If you don’t mind hiking up a rocky cliff for roughly 15 minutes, then follow a local guide to bring you to the top of a hill located outside the cave. Upon reaching the summit marked by a life-sized wooden cross, you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of Rizal province and Laguna Lake.

8. Casa Santa Museum

Casa Santa Museum is located inside Jardin de Miramar Events Venue in San Isidro Antipolo City. It features more than 3,700 Santa and Christmas themed items collected from different parts of the world, highlighting various Christmas traditions and stories from other cultures. The museum is divided among 5 various attractions, namely Santa’s Toy Factory, Balay Belen, The Grinch, Christmas Village, and Lego Wall.

Santa’s Toy Factory is a replica of where Santa’s elves are hard at work making Christmas gifts for children. It displays statues of elves creating toys from different time frames worldwide, with wall clocks reminding them to stay on schedule, while another section shows a replica of a kitchen where elves have their meals during their breaks. 

Next is the Balay Belen, a section that highlights nativity sets from various places worldwide that show different versions of the Christmas narrative. It is a collection built up through the years and collected with care for everyone to enjoy. After a heartwarming section comes an area dedicated to the popular Christmas-hating Dr. Seuss character known as The Grinch, where a life-sized figure is displayed.

7. Boso-Boso Church 

Formally known as the Nuestra Señora de la Annunciata Parish Church, Boso-Boso Church is a Roman Catholic parish church located in Sitio Old Boso-Boso, Barangay San Jose. First established by Franciscan missionaries in the mid 15th century, the church is more than 400 years old, making it one of the oldest churches in the Rizal region, certainly older than the more famous Antipolo Cathedral. It lends a serene presence in its remote location, hidden as it were in a leafy area on a valley beneath the Sierra Madre mountain ranges, seemingly frozen in time. 

The ancient church is flanked by two majestic acacia trees and is surrounded by other leafy trees. There is a huge shaded courtyard in front of it while multi-colored San Francisco leaves stand beneath the trees. It has a sparse Romanesque architecture that has survived countless catastrophes, both man-made and otherwise, and therein lies its mysterious charm and ethereal beauty. 

The Jesuits took over the church in 1741 but had to leave when they were expelled from the Philippines in 1768. A secular order took charge when a devastating earthquake damaged most of the structure in 1880. It was never rebuilt and could have been lost forever in the 1930s when the residents were forced by the American administration to leave the place because a dam was supposed to be built. The proposed dam project was eventually abandoned. A fire burned down what was left of the church during the Japanese occupation, but it was rebuilt by the Camillian order in 1986, restoring it to its present-day condition.  

That the church is still around is a testament to the stability of its foundations and the unwavering faith of its Catholic devotees. 

6. Hinulugang Taktak

Hinulugang Taktak is located roughly 1.7 KM from another iconic Antipolo tourist spot, the Antipolo Cathedral, and is accessible via the Taktak Road. The falls is about 22 M tall and 26 meters wide. It is such an iconic destination that a local hymn of Antipolo that was composed back in 1929 mentions the park, indicating that it was already a famous tourist spot. It is now a protected landscape and the second most popular national park in the Philippines. 

It boasts of at least 11 species of trees in the surrounding area. Besides enjoying a view of the famous waterfall, the park has other recreational activities for nature lovers, adrenaline junkies, and even Marian devotees. These facilities include a public swimming pool, a hanging bridge built above a canopy of trees, a man-made spiderweb platform suspended over the waterfall, wall climbing facilities, and a meditation area with a statue of the Virgin Mary. 

5. Philip's Sanctuary 

Philip’s Sanctuary offers much more than a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of city living. It is also an eco-adventure mountain resort filled with exciting facilities and fun leisure activities perfect for large team-building events, family excursions, spiritual retreats, birthday parties, and as a workshop venue. It even has a chapel which is perfect for weddings and other gatherings for special occasions. 

Located in Sitio Panlilingan along Pestano Farm Road, this agro-forestry farm also hosts tree planting events to encourage the development of plants and flowers in the vicinity. It has a campsite where visitors can pitch a tent, enjoy the natural surroundings, and even build a bonfire at night. It has an aquaculture area with a pond and a river for farm-bred tilapia and pangasius fish, while an organic fruit farm is also nearby. They grow exotic tropical fruits like rambutan, guava, avocados, and dragon fruit.

The resort offers overnighters with simple huts and dorm-type places that can accommodate large groups. They offer food packages at the Breakfast Club that serves “silog” fare like longganisa with rice and a side of egg, which is much-needed fuel to help you navigate the grueling but fun obstacle courses available in the resort, which include activities involving ropes, water-based obstacle courses, and mud sliding through a huge piece of heavy-duty waterproof cloth. 

Kids and adults alike will enjoy catching their own farmed fish using fishing facilities available for rent, while those who have never seen an ostrich in the flesh will enjoy the sight of these flightless birds around the resort. Besides swimming both at the pool and the river, other fun activities include zip lining, kayaking, and riding a bike through the bike trails.  

4. Cloud 9 

Cloud 9 is famous for its panoramic view of Metro Manila, particularly in the evening when city's shimmering lightscome alive from one of the highest vantage points among Antipolo resorts  nearby. While the view is the resort’s main attraction, it also offers other attractions that showcase the city’s thriving local art scene as well as the storied history of Antipolo and Rizal. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted with an art exhibit that include a 29 foot long mural of the iconic image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage along with other pilgrimage sites in the area and a mosaic of the Philippine map decorating the ceramic floor.

2. Antipolo Cathedral 

The Antipolo Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church located in the Sierra Madre Mountains roughly 23 km east of Metro Manila. Also known as the Immaculate Conception Parish, the church’s major attraction is a 17th-century wooden statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary that is formally referred to as Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or Our Lady of Antipolo. 

The black madonna is one of the most highly venerated representations of the Immaculate Conception in the country, attracting millions of devotees both in the Philippines and abroad.

Its present location was the place where the image kept on turning up after mysteriously vanishing several times. The image would be found on a tree called a “tipolo”, prompting the townsfolk to take it as a divine sign to build the church on that exact location.

The statue is believed to be miraculous, and the claim appeared to be substantiated by several successful sea voyages across the Pacific Ocean during the Spanish colonial period at the height of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade. The black madonna served as 6 other ship’s patron saint and protector on the journey from Manila to Mexico during the 1600s. 

Annual pilgrimages to the celebrated shrine reach the highest numbers in May, a month traditionally dedicated to the blessed virgin Mary. The most avid devotees can be seen going on an “alay lakad” or a “walk offering” by traveling from from Manila to the Antipolo parish on foot, just in time to hear mass at dawn.

Pinto Art Museum is located within a sprawling two-hectare estate designed by popular Filipino artist Antonio Leaño. The artworks seamlessly intermingle with the plants and flowers in the Silangan Garden, an arboretum filled with vibrant flora and fauna. The large complex is owned by art patron and neurologist, Dr. Joven Cuanang.

The exhibit space and art museum is home to a vast collection of local art he acquired through the years, his collection beginning in earnest in the late 1980’s when he championed a revolutionary art collective called The Salingpusa. His patronage of local art saw their full expression through dedicated connoisseurship and acquisions, which continues to this day.

The museum opened its doors to the public in 2010, it has become one of the 25 most Instagrammed museums in the world, belonging to a list that includes The Louvre in Paris and MoMa in New York City. Some of the distinguished names with rotating exhibitions at the museum include Elmer Borlongan, Rodel Tapaya, Marina Cruz, Joy Mallari, and Mark Justiniani. The museum houses a vast collection of contemporary art and primitive art such as statues or images from the Ifugao region in the Northern part of the Philippines.

When it came to the overall waterfalling experience, it was hard to beat the famous Hinulugang Taktak Falls. This famous Falls is known for its dramatic splendor of nature and serene and relaxing atmosphere. 

Unfortunately, it was replaced with pollution and trash everywhere back in 2010 but thanks to the continuous efforts of the local government it was reopened recently in 2015 back to its former glory. 

The Hinulugang Taktak Falls is, plainly put, absolutely massive and beautiful. It’s surely impressive enough to wow even the hardest to please! Today, many enjoy the renovated park sports facilities like the spider web platform, the hanging bridges, and the wall climbing facility. There are also cottages you can rent for P500 a day and a pool to take a dip in, for P50.00.

ANTIPOLO TRAVEL GUIDE

How to get from manila to antipolo, from cubao by fx van and jeepney.

If you want to get from Manila to Antipolo by van and jeepney is the most convenient from Cubao. You can take the jeepney or FX from Cubao to Antipolo and it will take 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic. Prices are around 40-70 PHP .

FROM AYALA BY FX VAN AND JEEPNEY

From Ayala (Shaw Boulevard) to Antipolo by FX or jeepney can take from 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on the traffic. FX will provide air condition and the jeepney a local ride to enjoy from Manila to Antipolo.

MANILA TO ANTIPOLO BY CAR

If you want to get by car or taxi will be the most comfortable way. It will take 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic and your location in Manila.

BEST TIME TO VISIT ANTIPOLO

If you don’t know, Philippines has only 2 seasons- wet and dry season. You should be prepared with the weather in Antipolo because it is hot and humid during the months of March to May, and can extend up to June!

However, wet season starts from June to November. But due to climate change (which affects Philippines the most), rainy season can start as early as May.

We recommend that the best time to visit Antipolo is during the month of January, as the weather is expected to be the coldest of the year plus you won’t compete with the locals during December’s holiday rush (traffic and all).

2. PAMITIAN CAVE

Near Wawa Dam in Rizal, Pamitinan Cave is a limestone cave in the foothills of the Sierra Madre. This is also where Bonifacio, a Filipino hero, initiated new members into the Katipunan.

And scribbled the words Viva la Independencia Filipinas on the cave walls using a piece of charcoal. Fortunately, you could still see it up to today.

Antipolo Cathedral is also called the National Shrine of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage and the Immaculate Conception Parish. Antipolo Cathedral is a Roman Catholic style and attracts pilgrims during the Pilgrimage Season.

9. BOSOBOSO CHURCH

BosoBoso Church is also called Nuestra Señora de la Annunciata Parish Church. It is Roman Catholic located in Sitio Old Boso-Boso in the barangay San Jose in Antipolo City. BosoBoso Church was built in 1669 by the Franciscan missionaries as a mission church.

In 1880 an earthquake caused significant damage to the church and in 1930 the Americans starting to rebuilding the surrounding area and it was completed in 1995.

10. VIA DOLOROSA

Via Dolorosa and also called the White Cross is a popular pilgrimage in Antipolo especially during the Holy Week. But it’s opened everyday and you can visit anytime.Avoiding religious events it will be quiet and peaceful.

Nelly’s Mystical Cave is a natural cave visited by religious pilgrims and those who are seeking for miraculous healing. It was discovered in 1970 by an individual named Inday Nelly, who had dreams and visions of the cave when she was a child. She then traveled across the country to look for the cave until she found it in Antipolo.

There are eight levels in the cave, but only the first level is open to visitors. Here you can see not just stalactites and stalactites, but rock formations that are said to resemble religious figures. It is also said that the water inside the cave possesses healing properties.

Although Padi’s Point opened branches in the lower areas around Metro Manila, there’s still nothing like the original. Named after its original discoverer, Inday Nelly Deles, the Mystical Cave is believed to have healing powers due to the number of “mystic” or religious formations around the cave. 5. PACEM Eco Park

Short for Peace And Care For Earth Ministry, it comes to no surprise that people looking for some peace and quiet end up here. This eco-park comes complete with a mini forest, wild-life sanctuary, butterfly collection, aviary, organic garden, and so much more.

6. Crescent Moon Cafe

Tucked within a residential area hides one of the mountain city’s best art and culinary destinations. The quirky and colorful Crescent Moon Cafe is owned by the niece of National Artist and sculptor, Napoleon Abueva. The large property entails a private home, pottery studio, garden and a cafe. The reservation-only cafe offers delicious, season-based dishes alternating between buffet-style and set menus. After meals, guests can explore, browse, and buy handmade (slightly-damaged) beautiful pottery for only P200/kilo.

7. Casa Santa Museum

There’s nothing like the Christmas spirit in the Philippines! If you think a holiday countdown that begins with the “Ber” months is too much, then Casa Santa is here to prove you wrong. Here, Christmas is celebrated 365 days a year! The internationally-recognized museum boasts of a collection of over 3,700 Santa Claus and Christmas-themed items.

8. Hinulugang Taktak

Famous for being part of the song by German San Jose, Hinulugang Taktak falls is considered to be one of the top destinations to visit in Antipolo. The 12-meter high falls and the surrounding area was declared a National Park in the ‘90s and has since been one of the necessary stopovers when you’re around the area. The park is currently undergoing major restorations and still has a lot to go in terms of maintenance, but the beautiful view and relaxing sound of the falling water makes it worth the trip.

9. Boso-boso Church

Boso-boso Church or The Nuestra Señora de la Annunciata Parish is a 16th-century structure built by priests during the Spanish era. The church has survived wars, fires, earthquakes and even abandonment throughout the centuries of its existence. But today, after reconstruction, it still maintains its original architectural design.

10. Jardin de Miramar

Jardin de Miramar is a 3-hectare garden complex with several themed event venues that can be booked for special occasions. Sitting on a two-hectare property, Pinot Art Museum is a place to appreciate art collections and the museum’s aesthetic. Dr. Cunanang has an array of varying artwork disciplines, from contemporary to native arts.

Art enthusiasts or not, the Pinto Art Museum has elegant, vibrant, and colorful installations that will surely please the naked eyes.

The museum’s name itself, Pinto, means door. Going inside, you can find many doors which open to different room exhibits, including stairs.

When exploring the outdoors, you may have noticed its Santorini-inspired exteriors just before you could enter the museum. Perhaps, the Pinto Art Museum is even among the best-photographed Museums in the world.

Not to mention its Antipolo overlooking decks and lush gardens; you’ll find every corner worthy of taking some selfies and dramatic shots.

Dedicating a day is ideal when you want a whole experience. They also have a cafe where everyone can grab some bites and rest after long walks inside the museum.

2. Cloud 9 Sports and Leisure Club

Its humble start as a restaurant in 1995 had eventually opened to both hospitality and recreational tourist destination.

Among the crowd’s favorite here is its heart-pumping hanging bridge and the 360-degree view deck. You’ll be passing by the hanging bridge before reaching the viewing deck, so it’s best to wear comfortable shoes.

From there, guests have an unobstructed view of the lush Siera Madre mountains and the Manila skyline.

The viewing deck is also famous for watching dramatic sunsets and Metro Manila skyscrapers and city lights during the night.

A unique dining experience awaits you at The Burrow Cafe in Beverly Hills Subdivision.

A brief history of this Antipolo tourist spot started when Inday Nelly has had visions of caves at the early age of 7. Later on, she left her place in Iloilo and ended in Antipolo until she discovered what is now called the Mystical cave. She eventually bought the 450-hectare property where the caves are.

Apart from rock formations, some of its walls and ceilings are interpreted as religious figures and biblical events. The Mystical Cave has since become one of the pilgrimage sites during the Holy Week.

Even non-Christian tourists will appreciate the Mystical Cave as well. This cave is one of the nearby spelunking destinations from Metro Manila.

There are two entrance stair steps. The first one leads to exploring the inside of the cave, while the other leads you to the upper hill that opens to a pleasant viewing area.

Cloud 9 Antipolo is one of the most visited places in Rizal province which is located on the Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City. From the viewing deck or from the top of the hanging bridge, it offers tourists a panoramic 360-degree view of Antipolo City, the Sierra Madre mountain range as well as the entire Metro Manila skyline. On a clear afternoon, visitors can have an impressive view of the sunset.

Cloud 9 Antipolo is just one hour and thirty-minute drive from the National Capital Region. It is roughly twenty kilometers away from the east of Metro Manila. For this reason, it is one of the most popular day tour trips near Metro Manila. In addition, it is only a fifteen-minute drive from downtown Antipolo City.

According to its past history, Cloud 9 Antipolo was opened to the public in the year 1995 as a humble restaurant that serves lavish plates to customers. It is formerly known to the locals as the Cafe Nueve. The owner of Cloud 9 Antipolo is Doctor Potenciano Malvar and Mrs. Lourdes C. The owners realized the development of the mountainside that visitors coming from different parts of Luzon are eager to visit just for the confounding view. For this reason, Cloud 9 Antipolo gradually grew as a major tourist attraction. As the years passed by, the restaurant incorporates accommodation and recreation establishments. For the past seventeen years, it became a hotel and restaurant business.

As of today, Cloud 9 Antipolo is also known as the Cloud 9 Sports and Leisure Club. It is the towering point of Antipolo City. It has an art gallery, seventy-eight rooms, two swimming pools, and seven different venue halls. Also, it is home to the most sizeable mural painting in Antipolo City created by Mr. Othoniel Neri which has 4 meters in height and 9 meters in length.

Cloud 9 is the name of the hotel restaurant event venue because from the terrace you will feel like you’re in heaven already. The operating hours at Cloud 9 Antipolo is every day from 8 am until 10 pm in the evening. So if you are looking for a perfect place to relax and chill then this is the place to go. It should be included in your travel bucket list. All in all, I advocate you to visit this hotel and restaurant as soon as possible to experience a cool ambiance and appetizing food.

Main attractions at Cloud 9 Antipolo

Hanging Bridge – also known as the sky bridge that guides visitors to the viewing platform. It connects the restaurant, museum, rooms, and the building that showcase a 360-degree viewing deck. In my experience, visitors must have patience when crossing the hanging bridge because there’s a queuing line, especially during weekends and holidays. Only fifteen people are allowed at the same time when walking on the hanging bridge. Also, this is not for the faint-hearted because of its high elevation and thrilling experience. As I walk on the hanging bridge, I noticed that it is swaying. Nevertheless, once I reached the top I was greeted by a remarkable view of Rizal, Laguna de Bay, and Metro Manila. As a result, I snap many pictures of the delightful surrounding as my souvenir. When I decided to go down, I use the tower stairway and the metal walkway.

Metal Walkway – is a romantic pathway composed of a variety of decorated greenery flowers and plants that looks like one of a kind hanging garden. It is found at the lower level of the 360-degree view deck. The metal walkway guide the tourist to the exit way going back to the restaurant and information building. It is one of the most picturesque spots in Cloud 9 Antipolo.

360-degree view deck – is the main highlight of Cloud 9 Antipolo because it provides tourists with an unforgettable view of Metro Manila skyscrapers whether they come at day or late in the afternoon. It is a popular spot for watching the astonishing sunrise and sunset pass by. Also, there are metal railings where you can put love locks.

Butuan Caraga Heritage Museum – is home to a different collection of archaeological artifacts such as bones of Datu in the bronze age, swords, spears, historical arts, and accessories linked to Butuan City and the Caraga Region also known as the Caraga Administrative Region. There is an informational and historical walk-through as you explore the museum.

Cloud 9 Restaurant – located inside Cloud 9 Antipolo building near the information office. The restaurant is very roomy and home to different local Filipino foods. The food menu prices in the restaurant range from 150 pesos up to 700 pesos. During peak hours, lunchtime, and dinner time it is filled with so many visitors because it’s a perfect place for bonding moments and group gatherings. During the night expect the cold temperature. The restaurant is open for walk-ins.

How to Go to Cloud 9 Antipolo 

By commute:

• From Pasig City, ride a jeep or a UV Express van going to Antipolo Cathedral.
• Then from Antipolo Cathedral, ride a tricycle going to Cloud 9 Antipolo. Tell the driver to drop you off near the Padi’s Point Sumulong Branch.
• From Makati City, ride a train going to Araneta Center – Cubao MRT Station. 
• From Araneta Center – Cubao MRT Station walk for a few meters going to the Telus building near the Farmers Market and ride a jeep with an Antipolo signboard going to Antipolo Church. Tell the jeepney driver to alight you at Cloud 9 Antipolo. The estimated travel time is forty minutes. Afterward, ride a tricycle bound to Cloud 9 Antipolo.

By private car:

• Open your Google Maps or Waze app on your mobile phone and pin Cloud 9 Sports and Leisure Club. 
• From Metro Manila take the Marikina-Infanta Highway going to Antipolo City. At the Masinag Intersection turn right to Sumulong Highway and proceed to the parking area of Cloud 9 Antipolo.

Reminders and Tips:

• The entrance fee in Cloud 9 Antipolo is 70 pesos per head and the parking fee is free. On the other hand, if you’re eating at the Cloud 9 restaurant and your total receipt is 300 pesos and above, you will be given a supplemental admission to the 360-degree viewing deck, hanging bridge, and Butuan Caraga Heritage Museum. In addition kids below 5 years old are free of charge.
• Walk-in is allowed and no reservations are required before visiting Cloud 9 Antipolo. 
• Bringing of pets is not allowed to avoid disputes with other visitors’ preferences.
• No smoking, horseplaying, kite-flying, and no spitting inside the premises. Always follow the rules and regulations set by the management team.
• The best time to visit Cloud 9 Antipolo is on weekdays and after lunch to avoid crowded restaurants and long waiting lines at the main attraction just to take pictures at the hanging bridge and viewing deck.
• Put all your trash in a proper way. 
• There are several Unliwings restaurants near Cloud 9. 
• Please take note that visitors who wear high-heeled shoes are not allowed to walk on the hanging bridge.
• The Cloud 9 Antipolo contact number is 0917-8003424.
• The Cloud 9 Antipolo menu includes Pinakbet, Sinigang, Beef lumpia, fish shanghai roll, grilled chicken, grilled liempo, fried tilapia, Beef Kare-Kare, pancit bihon guisado, tokwa’t baboy, and many more. 
• There’s an available internet connection or WiFi around the Cloud 9 premise and it’s free. In addition, the voltage outlet in the building is 220V for twin flat pronged plugs.
• There’s an ATM (Automated Teller Machine) machine located in Antipolo Bayan which is just a ten-minute drive from Cloud 9. 
• A service charge of ten percent will only be applied for food and drinks and not for room rates or other establishments and services. The Cloud 9 restaurant offers warm and cold beverages, cocktail drinks, wine, and beer. 
• Visitors can decide to stay in a regular room. However, most visitors will cherry-pick the grandeur of the Cloud 9 room or one of the lodgings that involve the unsophisticated Veranda room, Rainbow Suite, Morning Star Suite, or the Penthouse Suite. In addition to the rooms, visitors will have admission to two swimming pools, seven venue halls, and different amenities.
• Cloud 9 Antipolo is available for special diet requests but please inform the management in advance for them to prepare.
