Tony Succar

A two-time Latin Grammys winner, he is an artist-producer, composer, and arranger whose talents stem from a passion for music given from an early age.

Born in Lima, Peru and raised in Miami, Florida, Succar is grateful to have come from a family of musicians. It was that early encounter with music of such influence that it would mark the foundation and preparation of him for what was to come. “I had the privilege of being raised in a family of musicians; I couldn’t be more grateful, ”Succar explained. His gratitude goes beyond those who have supported and encouraged him in his family; He reaches out to his admirers, fellow musicians, teachers, and other musical influences.

Succar’s sound is refined and distinctive. His fast-paced songs have unmatched explosive energy, while his slower arrangements are soulful and captivate the listener with the intricate nuances that are signature to his sound. Tony is currently working on his next album and on a world tour with his band. He has performed at the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival (Aruba), the Ravinia Festival (Chicago), Auditorio Telmex (Mexico), Vivo Beach (Puerto Rico), Tempo Latino (France) and the Latin Grammy Awards 2019 (MGM Grand Las Vegas), among others.

His musical diversity is well known in the industry, having worked with an impressive array of talented artists, including Tito Nieves, India, Jon Secada, Marc Anthony, Sheila E., Arturo Sandoval, Judith Hill, and Obie Bermudez, among others.

Tony’s path has led him to the world of salsa, jazz, pop, and Afro-Latin inspired music. He possesses an unusual combination of high standards, a devotion to music, and a reverent respect for those who came before him. His formal musical education began on the piano and then went on to percussion. He earned his BA in Jazz Performance from Florida International University in 2008 and his MA in 2010. It was at FIU that Tony fulfilled his personal desire to surround himself in an environment that quenched his thirst for excellence.

In 2018, Tony was nominated for the prestigious Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tropical Song, “Me Enamoro Mas De Ti”. He received four nominations in 2019 for Album of the Year, Best Tropical Song, Best Salsa Album and Producer of the Year for his most recent album, Mas de Mi. Tony took home two Latin Grammys for Producer of the Year and Best Salsa Album, making history as the youngest winner to have won both categories.

UNITY: The Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson was hugely successful, reaching # 1 on the Billboard Tropical Album Music chart, # 1 on the iTunes Latin Songs of the World chart and # 1 on the Amazon Pop Music chart. Latina, among others. The UNITY project was signed with Universal Music Group as a joint venture between Universal Classics and Universal Music Latin Entertainment. The album was the brainchild of Succar and became a nationally televised primetime PBS special that kicked off the PBS Fall Arts Festival. The special was produced by Succar and OPB (Oregon Public Broadcast) and recorded in front of an audience that packed the historic Olympia Theater in downtown Miami. The nationwide audience was impressive, with over half a million viewers on PBS. Donald Thomas, Vice President of Programming for PBS and Curator of the festival, called it “a wonderful testament to the diversity of arts and performances that are created in the United States. We are delighted to show that diversity on PBS. “

The Dance Floor at Josie Robertson Plaza

New York City's largest outdoor dance floor with a—now iconic—10-foot disco ball returns to Josie Robertson Plaza as the centerpiece of Summer for the City . Designed once again by Visual Director Clint Ramos, this year's dance floor is inspired by flaura and fauna of the American prairie, setting the ambiance for the joyful and popular Social Dance and Silent Disco series. Don't miss New York City's hottest outdoor summer dance parties that are sure to satisfy any dancer's taste, including nights devoted to salsa, Lindy hop, disco, country, Hip-Hop, freestyle, ballroom, and much more.

Looking for a quiet place to unwind and relax while at Lincoln Center this summer? Stop by The Garden at Damrosch Park, a greenhouse-like retreat to chat, read a book from PEN America's pop-up Little Library for Big Ideas , escape the sun, and be zen. The space is filled with greenery and plants designed in collaboration with Donyale Werle Design. On Wednesday mornings and afternoons, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts presents arts-based storytimes for children , and Poet-in-Residence Mahogany L. Browne curates poetry & meditation events throughout the summer.

Snacks at the Night Market at Damrosch Park

New this summer is the Lincoln Center Night Market, an outdoor food emporium open nightly from 5:00–10:00 pm, featuring a wide range of cuisines at affordable prices including Jerrell's Betr Brgr serving 100% plant-based burgers; Maya's Snack Bar featuring Mexican dessert snacks; Harlem Seafood Soul with gourmet seafood and soul food; Japanese-style street food from Yakitori Totto ; Manousheh serving traditional Lebanese street food; and authentic Mexican from Taqueria al Pastor . There will also be a tent with rotating food offerings that align with that week's programming. Joe Coffee will be available during the day. Additional vendors to be announced soon. Our permanent on-campus options will be open all summer as well!

There are three ways to get tickets to Summer for the City at Lincoln Center, depending on the venue and the programming. Please refer to the dedicated event page of the show you’d like to attend to confirm ticketing options.

Free General Admission

For free events, over half the venue capacity is aways available for General Admission. Just show up; no tickets needed! Entry to most Summer for the City performances and events is available for FREE via General Admission—first-come, first-served. Learn more »

Free Fast Track

In addition to General Admission, we’re offering a FREE Fast Track option for the majority of  Summer for the City events held at Damrosch Park, The Dance Floor, The Underground at Jaffe Drive, Hearst Plaza, and the David Rubenstein Atrium, and other select venues. • By booking Fast Track for events ahead of time, guests can access the Fast Track line at the venue which gives them priority entry to that event. • While event admission is not guaranteed, Fast Track ticket holders will have priority over the General Admission line up until 10 minutes before show time (please note: show time for social dances on The Dance Floor is the start of the dance lesson). We recommend arriving an hour before show time to ensure entry into the event. • Please check the event's dedicated web page to confirm if Fast Track is available for the performance you'd like to attend. Tickets to most indoor events are available on a Choose-What-You-Pay basis; day-of general admission will not be offered for these shows. This includes Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center programs and the  BAAND Together Dance Festival , among others. Tony Succar

Tony Succar was born in Lima, Peru. He arrived to Miami, FL at the age of two. He was fortunate enough to be born into an array of musical talent. He embarked in his life as a musician when he was thirteen. "I was privileged to have been born into a family of musicians, I couldn’t be more grateful”, he explained. Succar was inspired to begin his musical education on the piano and then moved on to percussion. Tony received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Performance from Florida International University in 2008 and his Master’s degree in 2010.

Growing up in Miami, a multi-cultural “Melting Pot”, has shaped him in many ways to become a versatile musician. Being exposed to so many diverse styles of music has blessed him to make the most of his talent. He has had the honor to share concert, festival, and nightclub stages with Arturo Sandoval, Néstor Torres, Tania Libertad, Richie Zellon, Mike Orta, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, Oscar de Leon, Tito Nieves, and Tito Rojas (among others).

Tony Succar plays a number of roles, as a musician, producer, composer, and arranger. Whether it’s in a timbales solo, an orchestration, or an explosive groove, Succar’s sound is clearly exclusive to any ear that has learned it. His compositions emphasize the combination of syncopation, harmonic curiosity, rhythmic uniformity, and tasteful melodies. He finds a mean for both the interests of a musician and/or dancer. Tony has always had the ability to entertain while keeping music complexity at a high level.

His hit songs have been broadcasted on radio stations all over the world. For the past three years, he has been performing with his project “Mixtura” on a weekly basis. Tony Succar y Mixtura are constantly performing at world-known venues in Florida such as the Van Dyke Café, Yuca Lounge, Grand Central, Blue Martini... just to mention a few.
