I was a bit confused! When using a "click and collect " service with a retailer, I expect to pay for the goods whilst on-line, and then go to the shop to collect. This is not the case with Hays Travel money. This was not made clear on the Website, so I thought that I hadn't completed the transaction properly.

Bought £105 worth of Euros

Good experience. Ordering online was fast and easy. They phoned me when it was ready. Staff polite and friendly. Only negative was when picking up my money the next day. Gosport store was late opening. When I eventually entered the store, service was slow as the cashier was busy sorting/logging into computer systems etc.

Good website for ordering euros and local shop for completing the process and collecting the euros, but was disappointed to be to told that the transaction was flagged for money laundering checks, due to holiday not having been booked with Hays. As holiday was flight only, have previously been told they could not price match online booking costs, so we only use money exchange.

Making the most of your Polish zloty

If you’re going on holiday in Poland, you’ll want to sort out some spending money for your visit. Poland’s official currency is the Polish zloty.

Like all currencies, the exchange rate for Polish zloty varies from day to day, but as a guide, the average rate for early 2023 was PLN 5.01 to the pound.

Where to get your Polish zloty

You can get your Polish zloty before your trip from your nearest TUI Store . You can also order them from us online, or check out our handy multi-currency TUI Travel Money card. It works just like a debit card, and you can use it in 36 million places worldwide. Fees apply in Poland when using the card.

Spending your Polish zloty

ATMs are found all over Poland, and you can use credit cards in larger hotels and restaurants, but you’ll need zloty for smaller or more rural places. You could spend around PLN 130 a day depending on what you like to do, but for a closer estimate, try our handy TUI calculator to get a better idea.

Tipping is common in restaurants, and for services such as a salon visit, but otherwise just round up bills and fares if you want to show your appreciation.

You can order and pick up your Zloty before you jet off to Poland, to make sure you have enough for essentials, such as snacks, transport, food, water and, of course, fun times with friends and family.

It can be worth buying in advance, so you know exactly how much Zloty you’re getting for your Pounds. Leaving it last minute can make it harder to budget, because exchange rates can change at short notice.

Get your currency when it’s convenient for you

You can use Click & Collect to arrange a time to pick up your Zloty as part of your weekly shop, either from a Tesco Travel Money bureau or customer service desks. You can also use our home delivery service, which is free for online orders of £500 or more.

Some common questions about the Polish Zloty

The Polish Zloty is the official currency of Poland and dates all the way back to the 14th century. Its symbol is zł and is abbreviated to PLN.

One Zloty is subdivided into 100 Groszy, in the same way a British Pound can be broken down into 100 pennies. The symbol for a Groszy is gr.

The lowest value Zloty banknote is 10zł and the highest is 500zl. 20, 50, 100 and 200zł notes are also available. You can also get Zloty coins in 1, 2 and 5zł denominations. When it comes to Groszy, you’ll find there are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50gr coins.

The Polish Zloty is only used in Poland, where it’s the official currency. In some popular tourist areas, you may find shops or restaurants that accept Euros, but the exchange rate often isn’t favourable. It’s a good idea to use Polish Zloty when visiting Poland.

Tipping isn’t expected in Poland, but it’s often appreciated. The most common place to tip is in a restaurant or bar and around 10-15% is the average amount. It’s generally easier to tip in cash as there may not be a way to add a tip to your card payment. You may also find cafes and restaurants with tip jars, suitable for dropping in a few Zloty coins.

You won’t be expected to tip for taxis, haircuts or at a health spa service, but you can if you’d like.

You can cancel a Click & Collect order any time prior to collection. We'll refund you with the full Sterling amount that you paid for your order, unless you cancel less than 24 hours before your collection date, in which case we'll charge a £10 late cancellation fee.

We are unable to refund any fees charged by your card issuer, so please contact them if you have any further queries.
