Dodge Journey:  Bad Timing Belt or Chain Symptoms

A bad timing belt or timing chain can be a serious issue.  If it jumps a tooth or breaks entirely, it can lead to permanent engine damage.  Knowing the symptoms of a bad timing belt or chain is vital so this doesn’t happen to your Dodge Journey.

1. Engine Won’t Start

The Dodge Journey is a crossover SUV ( D-segment in Europe) produced by the American marque Dodge within the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) conglomerate from 2009 to 2020. Subsequently, the model was relaunched again in 2022 with a new generation.

The first generation Dodge Journey was produced between 2009 and 2020. It received a mid-cycle facelift in 2011. The Journey was available in five- and seven-passenger configurations and was known for its flexible seating, storage and entertainment options. In North America, trim levels were the SE (powered by a 2.4-liter gasoline engine), SXT an d R/T (both powered by a 3.5-liter V6), with the SXT and R/T available with all-wheel drive. This same model was sold in Europe as the Fiat Freemont .
