Celebrity Edge
Debuted in December 2018, the Celebrity Edge stands out for its modernity. The vessel carries 2,918 guests at double occupancy, 3,373 guests at maximum occupancy and 1,320 crew members. The Edge is dressed to the nines in contemporary designs and features a diverse array of technologies, amenities, activities and dining venues on board. Passengers can delight in the ship's rooftop garden, take a dip in one of many ocean-facing pools, work up a sweat on the jogging track or relax at the on-site spa.
You'll find plenty of evening entertainment options, too, including themed bars and lounges, a club and a theater showcasing a variety of productions. The Edge was the first Celebrity ship fitted with the Magic Carpet – the line's cantilevered venue at sea that travels 13 stories. The open-air venue can be repositioned alongside several decks, allowing it to transform from a live music venue to a bar to an exclusive specialty restaurant, depending on its location.
For dining, passengers have 29 options to choose from. These include four main restaurants and specialty options serving a range of cuisines, from sashimi to French bistro classics. After a bite to eat, take a break and relax in your modern stateroom or suite. Every room offers technology that allows guests to control temperature, service and lighting with a touch screen. What's more, with a roughly 2-to-1 passenger-to-crew ratio, service across the ship will be spot on.
Celebrity Edge makes sailings across Alaska, Hawaii, Asia, Australia and more.
U.S. News Insider Tip: On Edge Series ships, park yourself at the Sunset Bar with a spicy margarita every evening – it’s the best spot on the ship to watch for the fabled green flash. – Skye Sherman, Contributor
Seven Seas Explorer
Regent Seven Seas Explorer debuted in 2016. It's one of the largest vessels in the fleet, welcoming up to 746 passengers at double occupancy. The ship makes service a top priority, with 548 crew members on board. According to past cruisers, the staff is friendly and attentive.
Travelers were even more impressed by the all-suite accommodations, which are some of the largest offered among ocean liners. All 373 suites include spacious balconies, marble bathrooms, walk-in closets, interactive flat-screen TVs and unlimited Wi-Fi.
Another high point: the cuisine. Explorer offers eight dining areas that range from the casual Pool Grill to Asian creations at Pacific Rim. As part of the 'Regent Experience,' all specialty dining is included in the cruise fare.
Outside the cabins, guests can spend their days participating in cooking demonstrations, lounging by the pool or relaxing in the library. At night, entertainment options include casino games, cocktail lounges and shows in the Constellation Theater. Complaints about this ship are few and far between, though some reviewers felt the entertainment could be more impressive.
The best perk, according to recent passengers? All shore excursions are included. Seven Seas Explorer sails to destinations in Alaska, Asia, Australia and more.
U.S. News Insider Tip: Pacific Rim is a favorite dining venue among cruisers, with its Asian-inspired cocktails and cuisine offering a selection of dishes from Thailand, Korea, China, Vietnam and Japan. Spin the bronze Tibetan Buddhist prayer wheel as you enter the restaurant and be sure to sample the miso black cod. – Gwen Pratesi, Contributor
Launched in 2012, Oceania Riviera was last refurbished in December 2022. The upgrade featured new furnishings, remodeled bathrooms, updated lighting and new outlets and USB ports. Oceania Riviera features larger staterooms than the line's older ships. The 1,250-passenger (double occupancy), 800-crew member ship is identical to Oceania Marina and includes Inside, Ocean View and Veranda staterooms. The ship's suites range from 420 to 2,000 square feet. While all cabins include minibars, full-size bathtubs and flat-screen TVs, suites add perks like 24-hour butler service.
When it's time to dine, cruisers can choose from eight venues. These include options unavailable on every Oceania ship, like Jacques (French fare) and Red Ginger (Asian-focused dishes). Bar and lounge venues are also varied, with specialty spots mixing martinis, offering wine tastings and serving poolside cocktails.
Other onboard pursuits include treatments at the spa and cooking classes at The Culinary Center. With amenities and organized events geared toward older cruisers, Riviera isn't a great choice for those traveling with children.
Riviera splits its time between the Middle East, the Mediterranean, Alaska, Australia, Asia and other destinations.
Norwegian Joy
Built in 2017, the 3,776-passenger, 1,821-crew-member Norwegian Joy was refurbished in 2020. Accommodation options include Inside, Oceanview and Balcony staterooms, as well as Suites, Concierge rooms (which come with concierge service) and The Haven cabins (which include 24-hour butler service and private sundecks).
There are 13 dining venues on board including seven specialty restaurants, the latter of which offers American, French, Japanese, Italian, Mexican and Thai cuisines. Complimentary restaurants include the ship's three main dining rooms.
Cruisers will find plenty of things to do on board, from shopping at duty-free stores and luxury boutiques to watching stand-up comedians. The ship also offers a spa, laser tag, a racetrack, a casino, mini-golf, a fitness center, two aqua parks and more.
Norwegian Joy sails from Miami , Los Angeles , New York , Seattle and Quebec City to ports across Alaska, the Caribbean, the Mexican Riviera, Bermuda and more.
Originally launched in 2008 and updated in late 2015, Eurodam carries up to 2,104 passengers at double occupancy, 2,731 passengers at maximum capacity and 876 crew members.
The ship’s 11 decks include multiple cabin categories: Interior staterooms, Ocean View and Verandah staterooms, Signature Suites and Neptune & Pinnacle Suites. All cabins come equipped with plush Euro-Top mattresses and flat-screen TVs. Suites received updates to the furniture, carpeting and bathrooms, as well as a USB outlet on the bed's headboard and a Bose Bluetooth speaker.
Recent cruisers of Eurodam were pleased with the versatile selection of nine dining venues. Most notably, the ship offers Tamarind, which serves exotic fare from Southeast Asia, China and Japan.
Daytime activities range from the Greenhouse Spa & Salon to the BBC Earth in Concert experience. More active pursuits include two swimming pools, pickleball courts and more. In the evenings, passengers can sip cocktails at one of the bars or lounges or take in a show at B.B. King's Blues Club.
Eurodam departs from Fort Lauderdale , San Diego , Seattle and Vancouver for sailings in the Caribbean, Alaska, the Pacific Coast and the Panama Canal.
U.S. News Insider Tip: Make sure to attend a show or two – which feature comedy, dancing or singing – offered at the Main Stage. There are also piano duels in the lounge by the casino, and fantastic music at the B.B. King's Blues Club (which can be hard to get a seat at – get there early!). – Leilani Osmundson, Digital Producer
Norwegian Jewel
The 2,330-passenger Norwegian Jewel (the namesake of the line's Jewel-class ships) has been cruising since 2005 and and underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2022. It reemerged boasting more than 25 refreshed venues. With 1,069 crew members aboard, the low 1-to-2 crew-to-guest ratio makes tailored experiences a priority.
With 13 eateries and 12 bars and lounges, every guest has plenty of elbow room. Passenger favorites include the specialty Brazilian steakhouse.
While Jewel appeals to a variety of traveler types, it's especially well-suited for families thanks to its age-appropriate kids clubs, a video arcade and waterslides. But there are plenty of diversions to keep grown-ups occupied as well, such as a full-service spa, a casino, sports facilities and an art nouveau-style theater.
As for lodging, cruisers can choose between Inside, Oceanview, Balcony, Club Balcony Suite and Suite category cabins. Those looking for even more space and luxury should opt for a cabin in The Haven, which offers multiple bedrooms and access to a private sun deck.
Norwegian Jewel sails to a variety of destinations throughout the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the Mediterranean, Europe and more.
Royal Princess
Like its sister ship, Regal Princess , unique features like a top-deck pool and the SeaWalk (a glass-paneled walkway that stretches 28 feet beyond the ship's edge) make Royal Princess stand out among competitors.
The 3,560-passenger ship (at double occupancy) debuted in 2013 and was last refurbished in December 2018. There are about 1,350 crew members on board. Activities include an indoor driving range, duty-free boutiques and educational programming through Discovery at SEA. Younger passengers can participate in age-appropriate youth clubs while adults play games in the casino or sip cocktails at one of multiple lounges.
When it's time to dine, passengers can choose from the main dining rooms, six specialty restaurants or several casual eateries. In terms of lodging, all cabins are appointed with minifridges and flat-screen TVs. While Interior cabins measure between 158 and 162 square feet, larger Balcony staterooms offer 214 to 222 square feet. Each guest aboard Royal Princess receives an OceanMedallion wearable device to unlock his or her stateroom, make onboard payments, track down friends and family and more.
Royal Princess offers itineraries throughout Alaska, California, Mexico, Australia, Hawaii and the South Pacific.
Grand Princess
First launched in 1998, Grand Princess underwent a renovation in March 2019 that added new top-deck dining venues like Alfredo's Pizzeria, Salty Dog Grill and Coffee & Cones. The ship carries 2,600 passengers at double occupancy and 1,150 crew members. The Princess Theater was also refreshed to provide a more immersive audio experience. Other onboard amenities include the adults-only Sanctuary and duty-free boutiques.
The ship houses numerous dining venues, including one main dining room, two specialty venues and a variety of casual eateries serving classics like burgers and pizza. Come nightfall, passengers can enjoy cocktails at their pick of lounges.
The recently refurbished accommodations are outfitted with amenities like flat-screen TVs and minifridges. Though only 76% of exterior cabins offer private balconies – a lower percentage than other ships in the fleet – guests describe cabins as comfortable and spacious. Additionally, past cruisers describe the onboard service as attentive and friendly. What's more, each guest aboard Grand Princess receives an OceanMedallion wearable device to unlock his or her stateroom, make onboard payments, track down friends and family and more.
Grand Princess sails to destinations worldwide, including Alaska, Hawaii , the California coast, Mexico, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.
Ovation of the Seas
Debuted in 2016, Ovation of the Seas carries 4,180 guests at double occupancy, 4,905 passengers maximum and 1,500 crew members. It features a skydiving simulator, an observation pod that hovers 300 feet above the sea and a bionic bar where robots mix cocktails. Other highlights include a rock climbing wall, a surf simulator, an outdoor movie screen and upscale boutiques like Cartier.
After working up an appetite, passengers can take their pick of 20 eateries, including six signature restaurants that require reservations and an additional fee. Many recent cruisers praised the cuisine, from the main dining room to the Italian menu created by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
Travelers were also mostly complimentary of the staterooms, 75% of which boast balconies. The ship offers Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite category accommodations, all of which are equipped with flat-screen TVs, safes and sitting areas. Even those staying in Interior rooms can catch a glimpse of the sea with virtual balconies that give a real-time view of the ship's location.
The most common drawback, according to cruisers, is that you're likely to encounter long lines and crowded common areas. Some recent travelers also felt the service on board did not meet their expectations.
Ovation of the Seas sets sail from ports around the world for itineraries in Alaska, Asia, Australia, Mexico and the South Pacific. It also completes trans-Pacific voyages.
Anthem of the Seas
Debuted in 2015, Anthem of the Seas offers impressive amenities like the first at-sea skydiving simulator and a 360-degree observation pod that allows cruisers to dangle 300 feet above the sea.
Staterooms also boast innovative features, including family-friendly adjoining cabins and Interior rooms outfitted with "virtual balconies" that show real-time views of the ship's location. All cabin categories (Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suite) include flat-screen TVs and minifridges.
Guests won't need to spend much time in their cabins, though. The ship offers a multitude of activities, ranging from daytime spa treatments, rock climbing and bumper cars to nightly shows and casino games. When it's time to eat, travelers can choose from 19 dining venues, including six signature restaurants for an extra fee. Guests praised the new technology on board, including smart wristbands that eliminate the need for room keys.
With a capacity of 4,180 passengers at double occupancy, 4,905 guests maximum and 1,500 crew members, Anthem of the Seas passengers can expect crowded common areas during peak times.
Anthem of the Seas sails to ports in Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Arabian Gulf, Europe, Hawaii and the South Pacific. The ship also offers trans-Pacific voyages.

Winners, losers as Jets cruise past Patriots 24-3 on Thursday Night Football
Winners, losers as Jets cruise past Patriots 24-3 on Thursday Night Football originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets barely had to break a sweat as they cruised past the Patriots to start Week 3 .
New York, at home, topped its divisional foes 24-3 on Thursday Night Football as New England offered little creativity on offense and couldn't slow Rodgers and Co. on defense.
The result moved New York to 2-1, its second straight win of the young season. New England, however, fell to 1-2, its second consecutive loss.
Let's analyze the result further with five winners and losers:
Winner: Aaron Rodgers, Jets
It was vintage Rodgers in his first home game since tearing his Achilles in last season's opener. Rodgers completed a solid 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns and no picks, showing off his quick releases and short scramble successes.
The obvious caveat is that Rodgers should've performed well against a Patriots unit that isn't elite, but it's a good sign for the Jets moving forward as their star quarterback continues to gain form. Tyler Conklin led the receiving department with five catches for 93 yards, while Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard caught the two touchdowns.
Loser: Patriots offense
On the opposite side, New England's offense just couldn't generate anything. Jacoby Brissett was held to 98 passing yards, no touchdowns and no picks on 12 of 18 completions, while running back Rhamondre Stevenson mustered just 23 yards on six attempts.
The Patriots as a whole recorded 139 yards, with rookie Drake Maye getting late reps that helped increase the numbers a tad. New York, for comparison's sake, put up 400.
Winner: Will McDonald IV, Jets
McDonald IV, New York's 15th overall pick in 2023, could be on the path to a breakout year. After recording a total of three sacks in 15 games last season, McDonald IV has already surpassed that total through three weeks.
The Iowa State product entered the game with three sacks through two appearances, then added another 1.5 on Brissett, who took a total of five sacks on the night. McDonald IV performing the way he is brings a new element to Robert Saleh's defensive unit that'll be needed for the bigger games.
Loser: Third-down disparities
New England's offense, as aforementioned, failed to pick up yards consistently throughout the night. That was expected given the talent disparity between its offense and the Jets' defense, though it didn't help that the Patriots went 2-for-11 on third downs. With Brissett under center, they only picked up one first down in such positions.
Now the Patriots did go 3-for-3 on fourth downs, but that did little to alter the scoreboard. On the other hand, New York went 10-for-15 on third downs and should've put up more points with more ruthlessness. A missed Greg Zuerlein field goal also transpired.
Winner: Braelon Allen, Jets
Allen in Week 2 became the NFL's youngest touchdown scorer from scrimmage, logging two. Though the 20-year-old rookie didn't get inside the end zone in this game, he showed more promise of being a potential RB1 in the future.
Allen rushed for 55 yards on 11 carries, good for an average of five yards a run. Breece Hall added 54 yards on 16 carries with a goal line score, good for an average of 3.4 a run. The more running backs perform, the better for Rodgers' pass-run balance, and Allen is proving he can be relied upon despite his inexperience.

Nneka Ogwumike scores 17, Seattle Storm spoil Diana Taurasi's night with 89-70 win over Mercury
PHOENIX - Nneka Ogwumike scored 17 points and the Seattle Storm spoiled what could be the final home game of Diana Taurasi's 20-year career with an 89-70 win over the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night.
Taurasi had nine points on 3-of-9 shooting in 18 minutes, returning after the crowd started a chant of "We want DT!" in the closing minutes. She returned less than a minute later to another chant — "One more year!" — and addressed the crowd following a tribute video.
Brittney Griner led the Mercury with 11 points.
The Storm (25-15) were already locked in the WNBA's No. 5 playoff seed and will open the first round Sunday at the Las Vegas Aces in a best-of-three series.
Phoenix (19-21) has locked up the No. 7 seed and will play No. 2 Minnesota in a best-of-three first round series starting Sunday, but there's no certainty Taurasi will be back for another game in the desert. The Lynx could end Taurasi's career — if this indeed is it — by sweeping the first two games.
Mercury players honored Taurasi before the game, wearing her jersey with a goat — Greatest Of All Time — in the No. 3 during player introductions. The 42-year-old Taurasi has not said whether she will retire after this season, but has hinted this might be it.
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JULY 05: Diana Taurasi #3 of the Phoenix Mercuryis guarded by Jonquel Jones #35 of the New York Liberty during the third quarter of the game at Barclays Center on July 05, 2023 in New York City. NOTE TO USER: User expressly ackno
Taurasi's place as one of the greatest women's basketball players of all-time is unquestioned, a resume that includes multiple championships and records.
The Storm were intent on spoiling Taurasi's night, scoring the game's first 10 points. Taurasi — of course — ended the run with a 3-pointer, but it didn't stop the Storm's push.
Seattle shot 15 of 22 in the first quarter to lead 35-14 while the Mercury struggled to get into an offensive flow. Phoenix had nearly as many turnovers (five) as field goals (six) and looked disjointed through most of the quarter.
The Mercury were better in the second quarter, opening the second quarter with a 7-0 run while cutting the lead to 43-31 by halftime. Ogwumike had 14 points.
The Storm surged again in the third quarter while the Mercury foundered again, stretching the lead to 68-49. Phoenix tried to mount a rally in the fourth quarter, but Seattle pushed back every time, running away with a road victory in possibly the final home game of Taurasi's career.

deGrom K's 5 in long-awaited return to Globe Life Field
Kennedi Landry
ARLINGTON -- Jacob deGrom gave himself a C after his first start of the 2024 season, when he threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings in Seattle. No matter how good the Rangers ace appears, he has high standards for himself.
deGrom made his second start of the season on Friday night, once again against the Mariners, this time at Globe Life Field as the Rangers opened their final home series with an 8-2 loss . It was his first start at home since April 28, 2023, when he threw 3 2/3 one-hit innings against the Yankees before leaving with the forearm soreness that would eventually lead to the UCL surgery that kept him sidelined for 18 months.
Against the Mariners on Friday, deGrom threw three innings, allowing one run on a solo homer from Seattle nine-hole hitter Josh Rojas. He struck out five batters and walked just one.
“Jacob, he was good,” said manager Bruce Bochy. “They fouled a lot of balls off, the pitches caught up to where we were going to take him. So good stuff, it was a good outing for him. He’s just going to get stronger and stronger and even better with stuff and command. It's hard to get much better, though. He did a great job.”
deGrom is home. pic.twitter.com/xYlba1OEq4 — Texas Rangers (@Rangers) September 21, 2024
It wasn’t perfect, but deGrom said he felt like he could upgrade a little bit more from the C grade he gave himself the first time out.
“I felt like my stuff was good,” deGrom said. “My changeup was good. I landed one curveball, it was a foul ball to [Justin] Turner. Like, I said I was able to throw all four pitches and felt good with them. So that's a huge plus.”
- With surgery in the rearview, Seager (hernia) looks forward to '25
He started the night off hot with a three-pitch strikeout of Victor Robles, but there was a bit more traffic this time out than in his first start in Seattle. He settled in mostly, allowing just the one run, though he didn’t come back out for the fourth inning.
Bochy said pregame that deGrom was expected to be right around 60 pitches for the second start in a row. He threw 58, with 37 going for strikes. His four-seamer averaged 97.6 mph and topped out at 99.4 mph, slightly up from his first start .
“I noticed in the first start, I was -- I call it, running away from my arm -- so my head starts going towards first, and then my stuff's not as sharp when I do that,” deGrom explained. “I did it with runners on tonight. I feel like that's why I lost a little command with runners on. It's little things that I got to continue to work on. But all in all, my arm felt good, and that was the most important part.”
deGrom, to no surprise, was fastball-slider heavy in his outing, though he mixed in four changeups and three curveballs.
One thing that has remained consistent throughout deGrom’s rehab process is the development of his slider. He threw 23 of them on Friday, and got three whiffs on 10 swings. He said postgame that while it felt better out of the hand, the pitch is still a work in progress.
“It was better,” deGrom said. “The ones that I actually throw like my fastball are good, and the ones that I try to do too much and start pulling to the first base side, those are the ones that spin. It's just going to be getting reps and trusting my delivery. It's easier said than done.
“You get out there and you try, like, ‘Oh, I gotta make this one nasty.’ That’s trying to do too much. Those are the ones that tend to spin in the middle. It’s gonna be getting reps and keep trying to go back out there and trust my stuff.”
Sign up to receive our daily Morning Lineup to stay in the know about the latest trending topics around Major League Baseball.
deGrom is expected to make one more start this season as a final tuneup for a fully healthy and normal offseason. The goal for his last time out is simply to go further than his first two.
“Tonight, I wanted to at least get four or five innings,” deGrom said. “But, you know, three 20-pitch innings isn’t ideal. So I want to try to be a little bit more efficient, and try to get up there in pitch count, or go out there for a fifth inning. That would be the goal, hopefully somewhere between five and 75. That's the goal. They did a good job of battling me today and fouled stuff off and getting my pitch count up.”
