Renaissance Tours Unveils 2024 Tour Program

Renaissance Tours, one of Australia’s leading cultural tours and cruises organizations has unveiled its 2024 tour program.

The first tour of the season includes nights of musical and drama theatre plus performances by the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Ballet. Opera-goers will attend Anthony Minghella’s production of “Madama Butterfly” at The Met.

Tour Dates: January 16 – 25, 2024

Kicking off the European Winter Music Tour is a trip to Vienna and Salzburg. Travelers will attend performances at the Musikverein and the Wiener Konzerthaus, and witness the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Riccardo Muti perform works by Strauss. They will also attend Salzburg’s Mozart Week, attend performances by the Vienna Philharmonic, the Hagen Quartet and the Danish Chamber Orchestra.

Tour Dates: January 21 – February 1, 2024

Audiences will hear soprano Camilla Nylund , attend the Hamburg’s International Music Festival, and other orchestra concerts on the European Spring Rhapsody tour throughout Hamburg, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

Tour Dates: May 4 – 17, 2024

Sir Donald Runnicles conduct Wagner’s “Ring Cycle,” with director Stefan Herheim at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for the next trip. This new, complete cycle features Iain Paterson as Wotan, Jordan Shanahan as Alberich, Michael King as Siegmund, Elizabeth Teige as Sieglinde, Ricarda Merbeth as Brünnhilde and Clay Hilley in the role of Siegfried. In addition to the Ring operas, there is also a performance at Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra

Tour Dates: May 20 – 27, 2024

Opera aficionado Mairi Nicolson leads the trip from Bilbao to Barcelona. Highlights include a performance of “La Bohème” in Bilbao, Zarzuela performances in Madrid, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel.

Tour Dates: May 20 – June 1, 2024

Next up attend the first week of the BBC Proms followed by tour of the English countryside and a visit to the country house opera. Other visits include going to the Royal Albert Hall, Opera Holland Park, West Green House Opera in Hampshire and Glyndebourne Festival Opera in East Sussex.

Tour Dates: July 2024

Music in the Mountains takes travelers to Europe’s summer music festivals in Switzerland and Austria. Performances include “Der Freischütz” and opera and classical hits at Lake Constance’s floating stage.

Tour Dates: July 18 -31, 2024

Opera Bellissima features a trip to the Verdi Festival in Parma and a behind-the-scenes tour of La Scala theatre and of the Ansaldo set and costumes workshops.

The jewel in the crown of the 2024 Renaissance Tours repertoire is a privately chartered French Impressionism Art Cruis e that will sail on the Seine River through Normandy next May.

Marking 150 years since the Impressionist art movement began, the anniversary art-focused cruise will be hosted by Julie Ewington, former Head of Australian Art at QAGOMA, journalist and curator. Early in her career, Ewington taught the work of Impressionist painters Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt and has vast knowledge of modern and contemporary art.

The river journey will offer travellers a glimpse into the worlds of Monet, Cezanne, Pissarro, Van Gogh and Gaugin, giving travellers panoramic views of the landscapes and cities that inspired these luminaries to create some of the world’s most seminal works.

The 2024 collection also includes a selection of art, garden,and architectural tours, which offer access to some of the world’s most admired art galleries, private gardens and architecture and design destinations.

Other tour highlights for 2024 include: opera in Spain; classical music festivals in the Swiss Alps; art in the Low Countries; history on the Channel Islands; archaeology in the Balkans; gardens in Japan and architecture in Southern Italy.
