Companion Fares on Emirates from $398 Round-Trip Per Person

Flying with a companion? Emirates allows you to save when booking for two or more people on the same reservation.

If you find it more enjoyable to fly with friends and family, you'll be able to get a discount when flying Emirates from the New York area to Milan or Athens. To get these per person airfares, you'll need to book one single reservation with at least two people flying together.

Economy fares are valid for departures from the USA through March 26, April 1 through May 9, and August 20 through November 20. Travel is valid to Europe on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, returning from Europe on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You may be able to find some weekend travel days available at slightly higher fares with a $25 weekend surcharge. There is a 4-night or Saturday night stay required and a maximum stay of six months. Business Class fares have slightly different rules/restrictions. Click on the fare details below for more information.

Whether you're looking for an extravagant last-minute Valentine's Day present for your significant other or are just planning out your year in travel, Emirates' limited-time companion sale is worth checking out. Running through February 16 (be sure to book by 11:59 p.m. EST), the special fares on one of the most luxurious international airlines include round-trip flight deals for two that start below $1,000. Divide that by two and you're looking at the same price as a cross-country flight in the U.S. for travel to places like Milan, Athens, Dubai, Bangkok, Bali, and Johannesburg.

The travel period depends on the route, but most city pairs can be booked between February 18 and November 15, 2020. Be aware there are weekend surcharges for economy flights booked on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in either direction. As for where pairs can fly, the least expensive routes are from New York (JFK) to Milan and Athens, both of which are less than $900 round-trip for two. Flight deals for two in the $1,500-$1,900 range are available from Fort Lauderdale to Dubai, Boston to Bangkok, Chicago to Bali, and San Francisco to Cape Town. While these base fares are for economy seats, Emirates is known for having solid legroom , generous meal service, and complimentary drinks (cocktails included), and expansive in-flight entertainment options, even in its budget class.

For those who are staunch business class travelers, there are plenty of solid deals to shop, too. Tickets for two from New York to Milan are under $6,000; from Chicago to the Maldives, a long-haul flight at more than 25 hours, they start at $10,498.

Best of all, groups can claim deals, too. While space and availability is limited across the discounted routes, travel can be booked for anywhere between two and eight passengers traveling together at once, meaning those planning family trips or friend reunions can get in on the Valentine's Day spirit, too. Just note that changes and cancellations must take place for all passengers in the itinerary at the same time, and the journey must be taken together—so it's not the time to invite flaky travel companions.

Other airlines have announced Valentine's Day flight deals, too. Through February 13, Norwegian Airlines is offering 20 percent off economy flights out of 11 U.S. cities to destinations like Paris, Rome, Barcelona, and Athens. Qatar Airways is advertising fares from $555 for two in economy, and from $2,760 for two in business class. Qatar's sale ends February 14 and is good for travel between February 18 and November 26. Some of the lowest deals include New York to Baku ($555), Atlanta to Nairobi ($695), and Dallas to Singapore ($725).

For one more sale this week, look to JetBlue. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the airline is having a flash sale with deals as low as $20 one way for short trips (routes include New York City to Syracuse and New York City to Worcester, Massachusetts). Longer legs are heavily discounted too: fly from New York to Seattle for $129 one way, from Dallas to Boston for $119 one way, or from Fort Lauderdale to Austin for $79 one way. The anniversary sale runs through February 12 with travel dates through June 17.

Emirates reward flights aren't always the cheapest option and can sometimes come with hefty fuel surcharges, but the miles are still useful. Earning Emirates elite status

Earning tier miles to qualify for Emirates elite status works a little differently than earning regular Skywards award miles. You earn tier miles and Skywards miles at the same rate for flights with Emirates, flydubai and codeshare flights you book through Emirates. So every Skywards mile you earn for flying with Emirates also earns a tier mile, but the Skywards miles you earn from using the Emirates shopping portal won't help you qualify for elite status.

You can also earn tier miles by spending on an Emirates co-branded credit card . Every four Skyward miles you earn by spending on your Emirates card earns one tier mile. However, transferring rewards to Emirates from one of its many credit card program partners will not earn tier miles.

The Emirates cards also offer elite status for one year and a path to earning status through credit card spending. You'll get a year of Silver status with the Emirates Skywards Rewards World Elite Mastercard® and can continue to enjoy Silver status by spending $20,000 on the card each year. The Emirates Skywards Premium World Elite Mastercard® comes with a year of Gold status and you can continue to qualify for Gold status by spending $40,000 on the card each year.
