Now I'm confused! Burley, Chariot or Trek trailer?

  • Add to quote

I recommend using structured seats. Ours in unstructured, and our 2 year old has trouble staying in place--- usually ends up slumped down.

MB1

Chariot Info My wife and I have a Chariot Cougar 1, single kid model. Pretty expensive, but really nice construction, very sturdy. Folds for transport a little, but not a ton. I purchased a cordura grill cover to put over it (think car cover) while it's locked up outside. The seats have enough form to hold a wiggly kid, the harnesses are better than any other trailer I've seen, even when the kid is on their side (ask me how I know). When they're in there, they're 100% secure. Ours sees mostly (95%) bike duty, some strolling, very little running duty. From what I've seen, I would expect the resale on them to be very good, maybe 75-80%. We're actually in the market for a double (January) but we're considering keeping the single as well, just because it's so conveinient for use around town. Sure, the double has more room, but it's also a hassle to get in and out of doorways and around inside stores. I use our single almost every day, either dropping our daughter off at daycare or picking her up, as well as local milage around town. It's not really showing any wear and tear and I would expect it would hold up for several years at this usage rate. I've used it a little on mild single track, but the width of it is restricting. The suspension is pretty nice, our daughter will sleep in it for hours if she's not disturbed, moving or not. Plum

filtersweep's comment above is a good one. We have an older Burley and our 21 month old still slumps in it. Not as badly as he used to, but it still happens. Anymore he prefers to ride in the bike seat rather than the trailer. He's closer to me and has a much better view. The trailer still has its place when we need to haul groceries, cans/bottles or the swim bag, but if I can fit what we need in my pockets (diapers, wipes and a change of clothes lol) then we roll the fixie with kid seat.

chariot. best money i have ever spent. im not sure if burley had upped their harness system, but the chariot had the best harness system when we bought it last year. the versatility of the chariot is second to none, and the construction is very high. made in canada, too, if that matters to you. it also has the best system for attaching to your bike. easy to set up, puts very little stress on the wheel, and doesnt clamp on teh chainstay. it also pivots great. i took a fall once and The Kid had no idea anything happened. I think the wheelbase might be wider(we have the cougar2) than the burley. the only thing i didnt like was the wheels are exposed. the old cart we had used wheels that attached using standard QR skewers. there was a bar around the wheel, which kept the wheel safe from hitting objects. also, the wider wheelbase means you have to watch your turning radius. its not a big difference, but its there. i found it had the best ventilation, too. dont fret over the back-end storage. that was a concern for us, too. we just pack wiser. we can get enough for a nice picnic, swimsuit, change of clothes, and more. we only have the on kid (now), but i have pulled two in it and there is enough room. they both get their own little net pocket to keep drinks/snacks/toys in. The Kid loves it. calls it "That Fun Bike." and it is a nap magnet. when he wont take a nap, sometimes i just take him out for a 2-3 hour ride. he usually falls asleep after ive been on crushed limestone for 2 minutes. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/rlKgThB4ionXEcFFYxbrdA"><img src="https://lh3.ggpht.com/weltyed/SB5h1PpcQuI/AAAAAAAAAGw/mKhSb-ITE_8/s800/IMG_4523.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/weltyed/FirstMayRide">First May Ride</a></td></tr></table> here is a link to the gallery of when we took the bike fishing. we had a lunch, fishing gear for two, a swimsuit, and a change of clothes. there was still room for more in the back. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/9atzYZRT8jN33BThKngM4g"><img src="https://lh3.ggpht.com/weltyed/SDtrYeZit2I/AAAAAAAABRY/r7p11xxGiZc/s400/IMG_4835.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/weltyed/MemorialDayFishing">Memorial Day Fishing</a></td></tr></table>

forgot to mention that getting him in and out of the chariot is super easy. half the time he does it himself now. the entire front panel peels back to allow easy access. the old one we had was a bit tricky. you had to pull the entire top off and then drop them in. also, we have the stroller kit but not the jogger (yet). it is amazing how easy it is to push in the stroller setting. when #2 comes along, we might just use this for the stroller. it is big, but very easy to manuever.

Thank you all for your responses! I'm having such a hard time justifying the cost of a burley or chariot! What makes one trailer $200 and one $600???? Is there away to get away with a lower cost trailer? What is the difference between this schwinn http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/bab/837234756.html and a $600 burley or chariot? My father who is helping with this purchase loves the trek go bug because of the roll bar. I'm not a huge fan of the overly structured seats because the kids looked uncomfortable. Plus, I'm a bit concerned about the resale value of a go bug. Thanks for the feedback!

trust me, i had the same problem when it came to cost justification. especially when i sat back and realized the bike that would be pulling the chariot didnt cost as much as the trailer (bike assembled from ebay parts)! i almost went with the instep model that used the axle mount. i knew i NEEDED an axle mount, as my chain stay had been chewed a bit by the old trailer i had that used a clamp attachment. even after looking at the burley and the trek (the older treks were made by chariot, but the bug was designed and built in-house i was told, or so i was told). ten reasons the chariot won out: 1) the lap and shoulder straps were much nicer. nice padding, easy to attach and adjust 2) easy of child loading/unloading and comfort. while there is no roll bar on the front (makes it very easy to get in and out), the entire thing is a roll cage. lots of airflow, but also seemed as though it could stay warm (especially compared to trek). i have had it out in 90 degree temps and 25 degree temps. 3) bike-trailer interface. the chariot has a very sturdy ball hitch design. plus extra skewers are easy to buy. and changing a rear flat is no problem. i've done it twice. and as mentioned before, i took a fall and The Kid didn't notice anything 4) hand built in canada. i wanted to keep it in north america 5) adjustable suspension system. with leaf springs, not coils or rubber pucks 6) many accessories. from the stroller kit to an extra handlebar bag, there were things we knew we could use. they even have baby buntings! 7) easy to fold. it doesnt get as small as others out there, but it is easy to fold and set up 8) lots of reflective material for visibility 9) the thing is pretty light and rolls very easily. 10) designed, built, and sold by people who know and use the product. these people really care about child transporation. the website has nice short movies about the products.

singlecross

+1 for the Chariot... We've had our for Cougar 2 for 4 years and it is great for all the reasons the Weltyed mentions... not to mention the hiking and nordic skiing attachments that we use all winter with our two kids... if you think biking is hard pulling 60+ pounds, try nordic skate skiing pulling the kids! singlecross

Thanks! I can't thank you all enough for your help! I'm hoping to pick up a chariot soon...now to find a bike and trailer for my van!

best of luck. it is a big jump to take, but we have never regretted it.

morryjg

GoBug Chiming in ever later...we chose the Trek GoBug specifically for the two individual seats. We have twins and they cannot sit together on a bench type of seat. They will end up fighting for sure! The Trek works great...like you said, its like having two carseats in there. As far as I can tell, the Trek is the only one with two sectioned seats. Hence the only choice for us. Everyone has a Burley (so did we for our first child), but the GoBug is slick.

we have a chariot cougar 1 and 2. so happy with it. look for a sale at REI. they happen all the time. ditto on what everyone else said. i think i must have over a 1000 miles on the chariot 1.

Trek GoBug Trailer In Crested Butte

  • Add to quote

This is a longshot but does anyone have a Trek GoBug trailer in Crested Butte? I'm in CB for a few days with the family and we brought our trailer but I forgot the axle connector. In the off chance someone has one of these trailers, I'm just wondering If I can borrow/rent your axle connector for a few days. I want to avoid having to rent a whole trailer, if at all possible.

I snagged a used Gobug on Craiglist earlier this year and love it. I have pulled ~70lbs worth of kids plus a few things in the back without issue. It folds up very easily and packs tightly in the car as well so it went to Maine with us this summer for a week at the beach. In my opinion, the Gobug is a better trailer than the equivalent Burley. No affiliation, yada.... I just like the trailer and highly recommend it.

Rain Cover for Discontinued Trek GoBug Trailer

May be a long shot, but wondering if anyone has a raincover for a Trek Gobug Trailer.  Trek doesn't make trailers anymore and they don't carry that part.

If you have one, let me know!

Star Trek: Discovery Ends an Era With Season 5

The showrunners and stars on how they’re taking the disco to the final frontier one last time..

Star Trek: Discovery Ends an Era With Season 5 - TV Shows

Seven years ago, Star Trek: Discovery debuted as the seventh Star Trek series in the illustrious and long-running science fiction franchise. Discovery, or Disco as it is affectionately known,  was also the first Trek anything to debut on a streaming service. Its success made episodic Star Trek viable again after a 12-year dry spell, and now fans have a robust lineup of all kinds of Trek series on Paramount+ as a result.

But all starship missions eventually come to an end. So with Season 5 of Discovery, Captain Michael Burnham and her USS Discovery crew embark on their final adventure. We spoke to some of the creative team about what’s coming for Burnham, Book, Saru and more.

From Season Finale to Series Finale

After the turmoil and complex resolution of the Dark Matter Anomaly story arc in Season 4, the fifth season opens with many Discovery characters contemplating both personal and professional change.

While showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise told IGN that they didn’t go into writing the season knowing it would be the show’s last, their instincts to create transition points for much of their ensemble ended up lending itself to a consequential final season.

“Alex and I talked about it,” says Paradise. “And this season we explore such big themes and such big ideas. And in some ways, it felt like if [the end] were going to happen, this was the right season for that to happen because it feels almost like an ending.”

While the showrunners didn’t find out that this was the last season of the show until they had already finished shooting the body of the season itself, the studio wanted to give Captain Burnham and the Disco crew a proper send-off. And so they let Paradise, Kurtzman, and the team fine-tune the Season 5 finale so that it could also serve as a series finale.

The journey of growth, the journey of evolution – you can parallel Burnham's life with my own. -Sonequa Martin-Green

“The studio and the network were kind enough to allow us to go back and shoot some additional material so that we could wrap up the series itself,” continues Paradise. “So I feel like if people didn't know that, they would come in thinking that we had planned from the beginning to make [it] the final season. And it's exciting that the way it ends feels satisfying and fulfilling in that way.”

For Sonequa Martin-Green, who stars as Captain Burnham, wrapping up the show was the culmination of an experience for the actress that she’ll always feel lucky to have had.

“My goodness, the journey of growth, the journey of evolution – you can parallel Burnham's life with my own, this time that I had as Michael Burnham and then as Captain Michael Burnham,” says Martin-Green. “My goodness, I'll never be the same again. And I am just grateful because I feel that God blessed me with an opportunity to act out some of the things that he was teaching me.”

The Captain Conundrum

A starship operates only as well as its captain, which bodes well for both Discovery and Captain Michael Burnham, who is arguably hitting her professional stride at this point in aiding Earth’s re-entry into the Federation. Personally, it’s a little more complicated as she’s still wrestling with the open-ended separation from her partner, Cleveland "Book" Booker (David Ajala), after he chose to leave and help those impacted by the Dark Matter Anomaly last season.

“Stepping into Season 5, that relationship is fractured, and will it heal?” ponders Ajala. “Knowing these two individuals, I think they will put their best foot forward to try and make it happen. But there's still creases in the relationship. However, the two of them believe in each other. And so far as there's life in Book's body, he will always support all of Michael Burnham's endeavors. And likewise, she would do the same for him. So having said that, these two were just meant to be kindred spirits.”

Surprisingly, matters of the heart are also top of mind for Discovery Captain… err, First Officer Saru. But first, Doug Jones, who plays the Kelpien character, told us that rank issue is also complicated.

“I had reached captain status in Season 3, and I was captain of starship Discovery,” explains the actor. “And then in Season 4, with our special mission that we were on with the 10-C and exploring all that… I felt that I was needed and that Michael Burnham, with our brother/sister supportive relationship, that I would not be a captain, but be her Number One. Is it logical to keep two captains on the bridge of a ship? Can it go on forever? Should it go on forever? So Season 5 is an exploration of what else can Saru do.”

And what would any new position mean for the deepening relationship between Saru and the Vulcan President of Ni'Var, T’Rina? First introduced in Season 3, T’Rina has become an increasingly important part of Saru’s life.

“I have been courting the lovely President T'Rina this whole time, played by Tara Rosling, whom I adore,” says Jones. “And so, yes, that's evolving at the same time as the career. Can they evolve together? Can we find a blend in the two? That's our struggle, and that's our little issue to get through. It's kind of like a Hallmark movie.”

The Disco’s Crew Highs… and Cast Lows

One of the strengths of Disco has been its varied crew of characters with their own stories and arcs that have kept audiences invested in the show. One of the best relationships that has unfolded across all five seasons has been the partnership between Paul Stamets and Hugh Culber, played by Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz.

In this last season, Cruz said their unique relationship continues to grow, but Culber will get his own solo adventure that will surprise long-time viewers.

“I'm excited for people to see a different, new side of Culber,” says the actor. “I can say that. He has definitely experienced a lot of insane things in the five seasons and Season 5 is definitely up there with it. So I'm excited for [fans] to see him in a new light.”

How is it that we did not get the musical episode!? -Wilson Cruz

With Lt. Silvia Tilly, actress Mary Wiseman remains a little giddy about her character’s love for her Captain, Oh Captain Burnham, and an upcoming memorable away mission together.

“I'm excited for people to see Tilly go on a very special adventure with her best friend, Michael Burnham,” says Wiseman, while Blu del Barrio promises that, much like Culber, her character Ensign Adira Tal will get to experience a shift that will challenge how everyone sees them going forward.

“Adira [goes] on a mission that they would probably, maybe from the past seeing Adira since they joined the ship, would probably imagine anybody else on the ship being in that position before they were in that position,” says del Barrio.

Of course, series ending also mean some of the cast’s wish-list episodes or arcs will remain unexplored. While much has been covered by the cast over the past seven years, there are a few clear, if good-natured grievances to be aired about what might have been if Discovery continued to cross the galaxies.

“How is it that we did not get the musical episode!?” laughs Cruz, clearly referring to the Strange New Worlds musical episode from last year. “I'm pissed off, O.K.!”

“I did not ever get to have a mirror Universe Adira and I'm so sad about that,” adds del Barrio. “It breaks my heart!”

But as any true Trekker knows, never say never with any crew in the Star Trek universe…

'Star Trek's' Sonequa Martin-Green says goodbye to 'Discovery' (exclusive interview excerpt)

'Discovery's' courageous captain reflects on her five-season journey in the new issue of 'Star Trek Explorer' magazine.

Futuristic figures crouch before rocks brandishing laser weapons

"Star Trek: Discovery" touches down on Paramount Plus for its fifth and final season on April 4.

The season features an interstellar treasure hunt that follows "Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries."

Back in 2017, "Discovery" was at the vanguard in returning the popular space fantasy universe to its proper place in pop culture via the small screen, where the franchise was first hatched back in 1966 on NBC with " Star Trek: The Original Series ."

For this cosmic swan song, Sonequa Martin-Green reprises her role as the valiant Starfleet commander exploring outer space in the 32nd century in one last 10-episode mission for Paramount Plus' flagship "Star Trek" series.

Here's our exclusive interview excerpt:

"Star Trek Explorer:" What were your expectations heading into "Star Trek: Discovery," and, as we start to say goodbye, what’s the reality been like?

Martin-Green: I first came into this at the tail end of 2016. We started rehearsals for the pilot, and I believe we reported to Toronto on January 2nd, 2017. I had all kinds of expectations of it being this Goliath of an experience because it is a Goliath of a franchise. I was overwhelmed, excited, shocked and nervous. I was all these things. As we started our journey and started defining ourselves as our iteration of " Star Trek ," I started to expect even more from our show, especially by the time we hit Season 3, because we were finding our identity. We were figuring out exactly who we were, as it relates to the franchise as a whole. Once that happened, my expectations grew from there. "What are the possibilities now? The possibilities are even greater because we really established ourselves at this point."

Fast-forward and it's so surreal to be finishing up Season 5, though it's year seven. For Season 5 to be the final season, I expect a lot of emotion. A lot of emotions certainly went into it. I expect the response to be full of emotion, and I've experienced that already from people I've had the privilege of talking to. I expect there to be a lot of feelings and possibly debates. It'll be a bit of an emotional roller coaster for a lot of people.

We don’t want to spoil anything about Season 5, but give us a taste of what fans are in for.

Martin-Green: I’ll piggyback on some things Michelle Paradise, our brilliant showrunner, said, which is that this is a season of adventure. They wanted this to be like an Indiana Jones-type adventure. Though what we're dealing with is big, intense, serious, and impactful, we also try our best to have fun throughout it. There is a sense of leaping forward in Season 5. I wish I could say more, because it was a difficult story to tell for me, if I'm being brutally honest. There are these little keys I was able to latch onto. Even though what we're dealing with is so big, the fact that there is that sense of fun and adventure is helpful. People will be glad that element and tone are there because it's a departure from Season 4, which courageously was meant to mirror what the world was going through during the pandemic.

The AR Wall came into play during the show's run. How did that change the game?

Martin-Green: Oh, my goodness! How did it not change the game? A round of applause to the designers of our AR Wall, because that’s a serious piece of technology. We saw it first on " The Mandalorian " and then had our own in-house AR Wall built in a fraction of the time, with much fewer people and much fewer resources. I applaud them because it's a cinematic wonder. You go in there, you take a look at it, and you're like, "What?!" It’s 10,000 or 11,000 screens all together. It takes six weeks to program for a particular location. You're standing there in real life, in front of it, and the production design that goes along with it — that set design — is so important. All of it comes together to tell the story, but you go to the monitor in the Video Village and it looks like it’s ready to be released on TV right there, without going through post.

Post is so much of it. It's such a feat when you add in visual effects, special effects, and practical effects on the day. All these things are coming together. There were many times where we were perhaps overly ambitious. It’s hard to explain without giving things away, but there are all these sequences in Season 5 where it's easily 10 different elements going on at the same time. I will say the only thing that's sort of funny about the AR Wall is that if there was something moving on it — if it's programmed to have movement in any kind of way and you have to look at that movement, in the scene as an actor — you’re going to get nauseous. I was not expecting it, speaking of expectations. I was not expecting to get seasick from the AR Wall.

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell showcase their much-discussed chemistry in the first trailer for Sony Pictures’ romantic comedy “Anyone but You,” premiering in theaters on Dec. 22.

Directed by Will Gluck (“Easy A”), “Anyone but You” has been touted as a loose modernization of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” The film’s official logline reads, “When college arch-nemeses reunite years after graduation for a destination wedding, they pretend to be a couple for their own personal reasons. But through pretending, they actually fall in love.”

Sweeney became a breakout star in HBO’s “Euphoria,” while Powell is best known for his role in the hit blockbuster sequel “Top Gun: Maverick.” They are joined in “ Anyone but You ” by rom-com fixture Dermot Mulroney (“My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “The Wedding Date”), Michelle Hurd (“Star Trek: Picard”), Alexandra Shipp (“Tick, Tick … Boom!”), Darren Barnet (“Never Have I Ever”), Rachel Griffiths (“Six Feet Under”), Bryan Brown (“Australia”), GaTa “Dave,” Hadley Robinson (“Little Women”) and Joe Davidson (“Neighbours”).

Gluck co-wrote the film with Ilana Wolpert (“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”) and produces with Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth. Executive producers include Sweeney, Alyssa Altman, Jacqueline Monetta and Natalie Seller.

The film was first announced in January after paparazzi and fans spotted the production in Australia, immediately stirring up rumors of a real-life romance. In April, Sweeney and Powell made an appearance at CinemaCon and stunned audiences with raunchy first footage.

“Sydney plays a character [who is] a real nightmare,” Powell told the audience, to which Sweeney rebutted that Powell’s character is an “asshole.” Sweeney continued, “What better place to put a nightmare and an asshole than on the other side of the world in the most romantic setting imaginable?”

In a New, Extended Planet of the Apes Trailer, the Hunt Is On

A new, extended Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes trailer is here.

The first big sci-fi epic of the summer is almost here. It’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes , the next film i n the ongoing prequel series that’s setting up the iconic 1968 film. This time, Maze Runner director Wes Ball is at the helm with a story set generations after the three most recent films, and tickets are on sale now.

To commemorate the news, a new, extended trailer has been released that features the apes of this time period hunting the remaining humans. However, as is clearer in this trailer than the previous ones , the star of the film, Noa (played in performance capture by Owen Teague), doesn’t think humans should be hunted like inferior beings. In fact, he’s heard that at one point, apes and humans co-existed. Imagine that! Check out the extended trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Some of that footage has been in the previous trailers, but we do get a nice, long extension of that chase scene, and some of those set pieces near the end are new. This movie looks epic as hell and we can’t wait.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was written by Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and is directed by Wes Ball. It stars Owen Teague (It), Freya Allan (The Witcher), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key), Peter Macon (Shameless), and William H. Macy (Fargo). It’s in theaters on May 10 but special screenings will be happening in premium formats on May 8. Tickets for all of that are on sale now.

How to beat arlo in pokémon go (april 2024).

Trainers can once again face off against Team GO Rocket's Arlo in Pokémon GO this April 2024 and with the right team, he can be easily defeated.

Team GO Rocket returns to Pokémon GO in April 2024, including leader Arlo, who provides one of the toughest tests for Trainers in the game. Arlo will once again enter the battle with seven possible Pokémon that he can use, always selecting three, which will change for each showdown. He provides a much harder fight than regular Rocket grunts, so it is vital to use the correct team to counter him.

To take on Arlo in Pokémon GO this month, you will first need to defeat six grunts . You can find him by spinning Pokéstops or by finding Rocket balloons. If you want to face Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni , you must overcome Arlo, along with fellow leaders Sierra and Cliff.

Pokémon GO: Every Pokémon You Can't Trade (& Why)

Best counters for arlo's team in pokémon go (april 2024), all possible pokémon waves.

Along with his fellow leaders, Arlo has made one change since March 2024 to his team for April 2024. The Leader has swapped his starting Pokémon this month from Dragon-type Bagon to Grass-type Cacnea , which makes this battle easier for you.

The remainder of Arlo's team has stayed the same for the last few months. His second Pokémon is one of three: a flying and Fire-type Charizard, a Psychic-type Hypno, or a Ghost and Ground-type Gorluck . Arlo's final Pokémon will also be selected at random: either a Dragon and Flying-type Dragonite , a bug and Steel-type Scizor , or a Dragon and Flying-type Salamence .

How To Counter Arlo In Pokémon GO (April 2024)

Despite the change to a new starter, Cacnea, an Ice-type such as Mamoswine is still advisable to start the battle with . Mamoswine is also super-effective against Gorluck, Dragonite, and Salmence. However, Cacnea has a host of other weaknesses, including Bug, Fire, Flying, and Poison, so there are plenty of options for you to start with.

If Arlo selects a certain combination of Pokémon, Mamoswine is strong enough to defeat him alone.

An excellent choice for a second Pokémon is a Fire-type such as Charizard. It can be used as an alternative to lead against Cacnea, but it is also super-effective against Scizor, which has only a few weaknesses. For a final choice, Dark- and Rock-type Tyranitar in Pokémon GO covers many of Arlo's other Pokémon, including Gorluck, Hypno, Charizard, Dragonite, and Salamence. If you want to see how the battle with Arlo plays out, check out this video by DrKendo on YouTube.

The slight change to Arlo's line-up has made it easier for trainers to beat him in Pokemon GO in April 2024. By using the right team, he should pose no problems.

Review of Trek Go Bug Deluxe I have been using a Trek Go Bug Deluxe for the past three years to pull my children behind my bike while I train and as three wheel stroller on family walks.
