How to get a free trip to Sweden (NOT a raffle!)

Volvo overseas delivery

The program is called Volvo overseas delivery , and here’s the basic way that it works:

  • You pick out any new Volvo from a local (US) showroom. Typically you will get a “no-haggle” price from your Volvo dealer that is 8% off of MSRP (see also this review of the program at kbb.com )
  • You are given 2 roundtrip tickets to Sweden.  Since we’re in the miles and points game here, I should point out that I would assume that you would earn miles on the flight 😀
  • When you land, you are picked up by a Volvo limosine and taken to a first-class hotel in Gothenburg (as of this writing it’s the Radisson Blu in Gothenburg), as well as picked up (by limo again!) the next day and given a tour of the Volvo Gothenburg Factory Delivery Center in Sweden, where you pick up your new car.
  • You’re given European insurance, and can then drive anywhere you want in Europe for up to 6 months.  There are 20 dropoff points all around the continent, and if you bring it back to Gothenburg, then you will pay nothing to ship it back
  • Volvo ships the car back to the US, where you can pick it up from your local US Volvo dealer in about 8-10 weeks.

Why does Volvo do the Volvo overseas delivery?

So, I’ve heard of new car incentives, but this kind of takes the cake, right? 😀  So why does Volvo do it?  My thoughts on the reason involve taxes and shipping.  If Volvo is shipping their car from their plant to their showrooms, then they have to pay all the associated taxes, duties and import fees.  But if YOU buy the car in Sweden, then it’s YOUR car, and you’re just contracting with Volvo (probably actually not the car company but an affiliate company) to ship YOUR car to YOU, which shouldn’t have any taxes or import fees.

(UPDATE: gfb in the comments suggests that the tax savings is NOT the reason – that in fact it’s more likely the marketing aspect of the program that provides the real benefit to Volvo)

the front of a car

How much less?  Well I’m not sure, but one can only assume that it’s enough for Volvo to afford to fly 2 people to Sweden and give you a night in the Radisson, as one would assume Volvo is not a charity :-D.

You do have to be a US citizen at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and passport.  European citizens (even those living in the US) are not eligible for the Volvo overseas delivery program.

Similar programs from other European automakers

Several other European automakers offer similar programs, but none is as lucrative as the Volvo Overseas Delivery program, as far as I could tell

  • Audi Overseas Delivery program – you get 5% off your car, free transportation from the Munich airport and a night at a hotel, but no plane tickets.  You also have to pay for your insurance
  • BMW European Delivery – 7% off your car (negotiated with the dealer), and discounts on hotel and flights
  • Mercedes-Benz European Delivery – 7% discount on your car, 1 night stay at a hotel, and 15 days of car insurance
  • Porsche European Delivery – You negotiate the price like a regular sale.  1 night stay at a hotel, and discounts offered on flights.

Is the Volvo Overseas Delivery program worth it?

Well, only you can answer that question.  Generally a new car is not considered to be a great investment, but if you’re on the market for a new car anyway, something like this could make sense.

You DO get a 8% discount off the MSRP, so it seemed like you could get a decent deal on selling a “nearly-new” Volvo with only 1000 miles or so once you returned to the US.  You might not break even, but considering the other benefits you got while doing the Volvo Overseas Delivery program, it might make sense.

What do you think?  Ever done something like Volvo Overseas Delivery program or would you consider it?

Might be one of the coolest perks for buying car… I could totally buy a Volvo and take a trip to Sweden. Thanks for the awesome find!

pointswithacrew

If you do it – totally let me know how it goes!

gfb

The taxes reason is an urban myth and the math does not work out. Import duty on vehicles is 2.5%. A pair of cheap airline tickets to Sweden could arguably be gotten for $500 each, plus say $150 for the hotel & transfers. The insurance and car registration in Europe is at least $150 ($50 for registration, low estimate of $100 for 6 mo insurance.) This adds up to $1300 on the very low end.

The cheapest Volvo that you can do Euro Delivery on (from what I can tell) is the S60 at ~$33k including the discount. With taxes at 2.5% they are paying $825 total in import duty on that car. The taxes are not high enough for depreciation to make the numbers work.

The current belief amongst Euro Delivery aficionados is that the marketing benefit of these programs is where they are making money, not a tax difference.

sources: http://www.cbp.gov/trade/basic-import-export/importing-car https://www.transportstyrelsen.se/en/road/Vehicles/Export-and-temporary-registration1/Temporary-registration/Temporary-registration-when-exporting-new-vehicles/

Awesome! Thanks so much for the long reply and for correcting me on the reason for why they do this. I guess that explains why all the other European automakers aren’t nearly as generous as Volvo!

One more quick tip (I’ve done 3 Euro Deliveries with BMW) is that the Euro Delivery MSRP is not set in stone, it can be negotiated just like a normal car pickup negotiation and you can save a lot of extra money. I have heard that each manufacturer has different leeway on negotiations, possibly based on the number of additional extras they throw in to the program like flights, hotels, etc. You can easily save enough money negotiating below ED MSRP to pay your own flights and hotel 😉

Check out one of the BMW ED forums for more details: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Pat

I read that the real saving in these programs (for the car company) is that they save a lot on dealer promotions, incentives, and commission costs.

DaninMCI

This is has been on my bucket list for many years and I’ve checked into this extensively. Volvo actually has the price listings buried on their website that shows the cost for each package and option. Volvo is one of the best European delivery plans still around. Mercedes used to own this space but Volvo still offers the free flight and extras that the other companies have done away with. One of the best features of the Volvo plan is that you can pick up the car in Sweden and drop it at various ports throughout Europe. You can also select some colors not available in the USA market to make your car really unique and maybe more valuable at resale. Travel in Sweden is very expensive but you also save on the cost of a rental car while your in Europe. With the drop in the Euro this may be the year to do this. If you want a delivery for this Summer though you need to go to the dealer and order now. There is a waiting period and certain delivery dates.

One thing to keep in mind with some of the other companies is that not every model is available for European delivery. For example if you want a BMW X5 that might be tough as they are made in the USA for this market. I guess you could always go pick up your new Mercedes in Alabama but it’s not quite the same experience. It’s also near impossible to buy a non-USA market car like say a Peugeot unless it’s 25 years or older (then it’s easy). Also Asian car companies don’t typically offer this service as there is not VAT tax advantage there like in Europe.

Tom

It’s was on a tour of the BMW plant in Spartanburg, SC and asked that question.

ALL of the BMW X-vehicles (x3/x4/x5/x6 SUVs) in their world are built there, then shipped to whatever market they are intended for in Europe, Asia, or the USA.

It is possible to choose an x3, for example at your dealer in the US, specify if for pickup at the factory in Munich (they’ll put it on the boat with rest of the Europe-bound cars), tour Europe, then have it shipped back to the US. In fact, they can even ship it BACK to the Spartanburg plant, where you could go pick it up, take the factory tour, stay overnight at BMWs expense, then have a ‘driving experience’ at their US delivery center.

Just have to allow the extra time for the 2 ocean voyages for the car…….

SB

Incorrect – you cannot do European Deliveries on BMW X1/3/4/5/6 that are built in USA. You can only do ED on BMWs that are built in Germany plants. Same goes for Mercedes – you can only pickup MB cars that are built in Germany.

jamie

This is a great idea! I am not really in the market for a new car, but something to put on the back burner if it comes up. Sounds like it would be worth it just for the experience. Anyone who does it should definitely write it up in detail. I can see this as the basis for a European summer adventure. Points for hotels, and your own car as your “rental” throughout Europe.

Graydon

Slight correction needed. It’s Gothenburg as you point out with the Radisdon Blu hotel not Stockholm. Stockholm is on other side of country. The hotel they provide might be the best location in Gothenburg as a base for visiting the area. Stayed there last year and although quirky it’s well worth the points to stay longer.

No way I woukd make the flight in coach so if you are considering this think about upgrades you will want them.

Thanks for all the posts this past week!

Thanks – I corrected it in one place (from Stockholm to Gothenburg) but missed the other.

Carolyn

Volvo now supplies tickets in Economy Plus on SAS or BA. The hotel they currently use is the Clarion Post in Gothenburg.

RickyLee

OK, so I just came across this old post, and I’m not sure anyone is still interested in more info about this program, but here goes anyway. We bought a Volvo XC90 years ago and took advantage of the Overseas Delivery Program (OSD). We’re now looking at buying again through OSD because of our terrific past experience. The purchase through a local dealer was no hassle, no haggling, and 8% off the cost. On a hot high-demand vehicle (as was when we bought) with dealers offering little or no discount, any cost reduction was appreciated. There also was no destination fee (around $900 savings). A nice benefit is you can build the vehicle to suit your tastes, by adding options that you choose, without the need for the packages sold in the US (altho packages are offered). We also added some options that were not available in the US.

The round trip airfare for 2 was on SAS and included lounge access. The transfers were on time, drivers were gracious, and we were transported in new Volvos. The factory tour was excellent and we enjoyed lunch at the factory. Our vehicle was presented to us, and we drove out and into the Swedish countryside, We also added a 5 day travel package to Barcelona. The Europe trips vary in price, but at the time of this post, a trip to Rome was running $1090 for two people (including a $500 discount). Our trip (and presumably the excursions being offered now) included airfare, all transfers, accommodations, and breakfast; Currently, Volvo is also giving another $1000 off most models for OSD sales.

We’re ready to replace our XC90, and are looking forward to another OSD experience.

Kris

RickyLee, Did you have any luck with your new OSD order? I just visited two local Volvo dealers and they categorically told me that the 8% discount was “many years ago” and that I can now only order using the european list price which is only very slightly lower than the MSRP in the USA. It is still OK deal if you need to tickets to Sweden but no longer a great one. If you had better luck with your Volvo dealer I would very much appreciate his contact number or address.

Mel

Hi, I am considering an OSD order of Volvo 2017 XC90 hybrid. The price is slightly lower than the MSRP at local dealers. I’m going to ask about the 8% but what I have been hearing from car brokers and dealers is that the Xc90 is in such high demand they are not generally negotiating below about a $2k discount. The great thing about it is you get EXACTLY the features, colors, etc. you want without stuff you don’t need/don’t want to pay for. Curious if anyone else has negotiated a better discount on Volvo OSD. The dealer rep for the OSD program is extremely professional so far and it’s worth it for the free tickets, factory tour, etc. IMO. Hope that helps.

Karen

With this OSD, does the Volvo dealer here in the US allow for a trade in? Thanks for the info

Sam

Ricky Can you let us know if you ended up going the OSD route? Did you get any discount?

Deborah Foran

Any updates with reference to OSD program lately? Looks very interesting and I would like any fed back. Thanks!

Musa

Is it eligible for other countries?

Dan Miller

Is this offer for Canadians as well ?

Aaron

Is this offer everywhere? Puerto Rico, maybe?

Hank Peters

This sounds freaking great!

Craig Sanders

I had no idea about these offers, totally worth it to have a trip to Sweden (always wanted to go there), any weird or secret hidden fees that we should be aware of?

Darryl

The OSD looks really interesting! I just bought so I won’t be looking into getting another for a couple of years but it is something to know. Very useful! Know where I could find some details of anyone who has done this already? Thanks!

L A

I’ve opted for European Delivery! I have tickets to travel to Sweden and tour the factory this Christmas. Volvo said the reason they are offering this is to promote tourism to Sweden. That isn’t to say the only benefit, but that is the “official dealership” stance.

Question: If we purchase the car (from inside the US) and will be the owners but someone in our family travels to Sweden, picks it up and drives it, do the rules/benefits change? To put it another way, if we buy the car and will be the owners of record, but are not the ones to travel to Sweden, drive it and then have it shipped home, do the same rules apply? Or, does the purchaser/owner have to be the same one who travels to Sweden and drives the new car?

Brent

I just met a guy at a body shop who did this. He was thrilled with the offer and enjoyed Europe! Sadly, three days after the car arrived in the US someone rear-ended him, thus why I ran into him at a body shop. Good news, the Volvo withstood the impact quite well, the guy who hit him though? His car was totaled! Wish I could post a picture of it! It was unbelievable! Volvo’s are incredibly safe vehicles. This gentlemen I met made a believer out of me. Think I’ll need to get my kids through college first though. Hopefully they sill offer the plan when I’m ready to buy…and fly!

Pieter Brink

I would like to get more information on your program. I am based in South Africa. Where does it leave me. Is there a program activated in South Africa with the same benefits mentioned in the US program.

James Woods

I did the Overseas Delivery on an XC60 and was impressed how Volvo handled all the logistics of the trip, Air, Hotel, Meals and a driver to take you from and to the Airport and to the Factory. You get the car well below what you could at a dealership and get to enjoy it while in Sweden with insurance provided for up to 15 days. No tricks, no hidden fees, it was all good and beyond my expectations

Deanna Horwitz

Does this program exist in 2023?

I don’t have any first-hand knowledge of the program, but a quick Google search makes it seem that it does

Volvo Overseas Delivery: Get a Free Trip to Sweden (My analysis & review)

July 7, 2023

volvo xc90 sweden trip

I am a serial entrepreneur and a consumer advocate. When I’m not helping car buyers, I love working on ventures that have a positive impact.

I run a  cause marketing agency  and serve on the board of  Vayu Global Health  where we are disrupting the medical industry and preventing the needless deaths of mothers and babies during childbirth.

Currently, four major European manufacturers offer a European car delivery program . Volvo stands out as the clear leader in terms of value and savings.

Compared to other manufacturers, Volvo offers the highest price discount , and they are the only manufacturer to offer free airfare to their customers.

Our avid car guys could not wait to jump on this one. We’ll break down the Volvo Factory Delivery Experience .

We’ll also dive into the ordering process and delivery, what to expect during your stay in Europe, and the review the cost of the program for different Volvo models.

Table of Contents

How does Volvo Overseas Delivery work?

How to order a volvo from sweden, what is the volvo overseas delivery itinerary and timeline, picking up your volvo in europe, what to do in europe with your new volvo, shipping your new volvo home, what does volvo overseas delivery cost, is volvo overseas delivery a good deal (my assessment), frequently asked questions.

How does Vovlo Overseas Delivery work

Here’s how the process works:

  • You order a new Volvo from an authorized U.S. dealer and tell them you want to go through the Overseas Delivery program.
  • Once the pick-up date is confirmed, you book your travel.
  • Pick-up your car a few weeks later at the factory in Gothenburg, Sweden.
  • Spend a night near the manufacturer in Sweden and take a factory tour.
  • Travel the country-side in your new wheels for as long as you want (insurance lasts 2 weeks, but can be extended).
  • Drop off your car at an approved European drop-off location
  • Accept delivery in the U.S. within 6-8 weeks (if you live on the East coast) or 9-11 weeks (if you live on the West Coast)
This promo video from Volvo will give you a taste of the program as you watch Jonathan and Anne design, order, and pick up their new car in Sweden.

You can place an order at your local authorized Volvo retailer to take advantage of the special Overseas Delivery pricing options (details further down below). All retailers should be familiar with the program and can walk you through the purchase.

How to order a Volvo from Sweden

In addition to generous Volvo cash incentives , Volvo allows you to customize the vehicle with your choice of color, wheels, interior, and even accessories that are only available in the European market. However, vehicle options, powertrains, engines, and wheels are based on the U.S. market.

When you place your order you will need to put down a non-refundable $3,000 deposit that is applied towards the vehicle price.

After placing the order the next step is to fly to Scandinavia with complementary round-trip tickets for two. The flight includes priority boarding through SAS (Scandinavian Airlines Systems) airlines, and passengers flying out of Newark International or Chicago O’Hare airports get access to lounge passes.

Once you arrive in Sweden, a Volvo driver will be waiting to pick you up and drive you to the Clarion Hotel Post, a 4-star luxury hotel located in the city center of Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo pays for accommodations for one night.

The next morning a Volvo driver will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the Volvo Factory Delivery Center where your new, custom Volvo will be waiting for you. Once you are checked-in, you can relax and enjoy refreshments in the state-of-the-art facilities while you wait for your vehicle.

If you’re too excited to relax, an English-speaking factory tour is available or you can enjoy the taste of Sweden at the restaurant located in the Volvo Factory Delivery Center.

Now it’s time for the big moment, the reason why the trip to Europe was planned in the first place: the delivery of your new custom Volvo. A personal delivery specialist will assist you through the whole process starting from the initial review of necessary documentation to a detailed presentation on the exciting new features of your Volvo.

The automaker provides a complimentary 15-day insurance coverage on the vehicle along with temporary Swedish registration.

Volvo offers a wide range of tour packages to suit different interests, families, or even trip lengths. If you would rather have more freedom, the alternatives are the exclusive road trips designed by Volvo to fully experience and explore Sweden.

Tour packages are carefully designed around a theme and all are catered for an upscale experience. Volvo European tour packages include:

  • Culture and History – Seven day tour of Swedish history, 4 three-course dinners
  • Golf in Sweden and Scotland – Tour of highly rated Scandinavian golf courses or visit St. Andrews
  • Family Fun in Sweden and Denmark – 5 or 8 days which include Legoland, a wildlife park, and theme parks; discount passes
  • Shorter Trip – 3 day package with hotel accommodations and 2 three-course dinners

The other option to take advantage of with your new Volvo is to experience one of the four road trips around Sweden. These are also designed around a theme and satisfies many different interests like food, nature, culture, or adventure.

You go can go fishing and hunting at The ICEHOTEL , enjoy an award-winning farm-to-table meal, take a trip to the Medieval Old Town Stockholm, and even go sea kayaking.

Volvo gives its customers plenty of opportunities for great experiences with their vehicles while in Sweden or all over Europe.

Once you’re ready to head back home, Volvo makes it extremely easy to ship the vehicle back to your local Volvo retailer. They will do all the necessary paperwork and take care of all fees, including import duties and US tourist customs duty and shipping before transporting the car back to the U.S.

You can drop your vehicle off in Gothenburg, where there is no charge to ship it back home. Other drop-off points offer the same service but require you to pay a transfer fee.

Volvo will provide a Home Shipment voucher that you must keep with you during your trip. You will also receive a customer registration coupon that has to be sent after your arrival back home; this registers your vehicle in the service and warranty program. You must also ensure that the vehicle is cleaned before handing it over for transport or the EPA may steam clean the car at your expense.

Make sure to have necessary documentation like:

  • Proof of social security number (copy of SSN card)
  • Copy of registration and insurance (provided at delivery)
  • Copy of Bill of Sale
  • Copy of MSO (provided at delivery)

Make sure to call or send an e-mail 5 days in advance to confirm the use of the Volvo Home Shipment service.

Drop-off locations and fees are:

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands ($527)
  • Antwerp, Belgium ($779)
  • Frankfurt, Germany ($441)
  • Hamburg, Germany ($356)
  • London, United Kingdom ($865)
  • Madrid, Spain ($1,060)
  • Munich, Germany ($535)
  • Nice, France ($1,459)
  • Paris, France ($1,028)

The timeline for your vehicle to arrive is around 6-11 weeks depending on the destination. Generally, East Coast residents can expect their Volvo in 6-8 weeks, while West Coast residents have a longer 9-11 week wait.

Let’s take a look at the cost of the Volvo European Delivery program compared to ordering a Volvo normally from the U.S. The table below details the typical prices for Volvos negotiated in the U.S. (on Edmunds ) versus the Overseas Delivery prices and perks:

*I do not guarantee the accuracy of the prices or promotional details quoted above.

Based on the cost comparison above, the combination of 8-10% car price savings and $1,550 in travel perks translates to a great deal.  If you are buying a new Volvo you should strongly consider flying to Europe.  And if you like to be pampered, Volvo has many travel perks that other manufactures aren't offering with their overseas delivery programs.

I rank Volvo the best compared to all other European Delivery programs .

Related : See how Volvo compares to BMW in terms of reliability

Is it cheaper to buy a Volvo overseas?

Yes, Volvo offers overseas discounts that are typically lower than the average negotiated price in the U.S.

Who else offers European delivery?

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche.  See the full details for all European Delivery programs.

What’s included in Volvo Overseas Delivery?

Volvo’s program includes a discount on car price, round trip airfare for two, one night in a hotel, a factory tour, international car insurance, and free car shipment to the States.

Is the Volvo Overseas Delivery price negotiable?

It never hurts to try, but the price is not likely to be negotiable.  The average car price is already 8% below MSRP and includes a travel package.

How long does it take?

After you return home from Sweden, your car will be delivered to the U.S. within 6-8 weeks.

Buy a Volvo and See Sweden for Free

By Jennifer Dombrowski 18 Comments

Have you heard of the Volvo Overseas Delivery Tourist Program ? We hadn’t either until Volvo and Visit Sweden contacted us to help them promote the program. We’re here in Sweden right now, and though we didn’t buy a Volvo, we’re experiencing all of the aspects that a customer who has opted to enjoy the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program would…and more. Though we’re only mid-trip, we think this program is pretty awesome!

Volvo V60

What is the Volvo Overseas Delivery Tourist Program?

It’s actually pretty simple. US customers order the Volvo of their choice at their local Volvo dealer and Volvo gives you two round trip airlines tickets to Sweden, plus hotel and transportation to and from Volvo, so that you can pick up your brand new car right from the Factory Delivery Center in Gothenburg (or at any official delivery location in Europe). With 15-day European car insurance coverage, including Swedish temporary registration, you can test out your new Volvo on Sweden’s roads with one of their tours like the Explorer tour we’re on right now.

When you’re ready to head back home, just drop your Volvo back off in Gothenburg or any official drop-off location in Europe and Volvo will take care of shipping it to your authorized Volvo dealership back home. They even take care of the paperwork involved when importing a car, from excise taxes to import duties. What’s not to love?

Volvo Museum

Volvo Museum

One of the perks of the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program is a free visit to the Volvo Museum and if you’re a car lover like us, car museums are always a lot of fun. Like any car museum we’ve been to from Ferrari to Porsche , the museum walks through Volvo’s nearly 90-year history. Volvo began right here in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1927 and the car company calls April 14th its official birthday in honor of the very first road-ready Volvo to roll off the assembly line.

The Volvo Museum is a cool collection of classics from the good ‘ol days, passenger buses with fun stories about the first public buses in Sweden, and even a set of quirky racing 18-wheelers. Of course, you don’t have to be a Volvo customer to visit the Volvo Museum. You can just head on over to check it out; there really is a lot for everyone to experience.

The Volvo Museum is open Monday – Friday from 10am – 5pm and Saturday – Sunday from 11am – 5pm. Closed June 20 and 21. Admission is free to Volvo Overseas Delivery customers.

Volvo Museum

Volvo Factory Tour

Photographs aren’t allowed in the Volvo Factory for security reasons, even for press like us, so you’ll just have to take our word for it that a visit is definitely interesting! Volvo Overseas Delivery customers hop aboard the Volvo Blue Train and it takes you through a guided tour of the production plant. The plant can produce 52 cars per hour and is highly automated with a number of robots working on various parts of the production process. Of course, the robots are all supervised by humans to make sure everything is always in order.

One of the things we learned and found most interesting is that all of the cars in production in the plant are already sold. So you won’t find any of these cars just sitting on a lot and waiting for an owner. The plant produces the car models in the sequence the car orders were placed, so you could be seeing any number of models on the production line during your tour. It’s pretty cool to see everything from components being made to the body parts being welded together.

A 4-star Stay in Gothenburg

Volvo also puts their customers up in style while you’re in Gothenburg. We’ve experienced both the Radisson Blu Scandinavia , located right in the heart of the city, and the stylish 4-star design hotel Radisson Blu Riverside . Though we loved the location of the Radisson Blu Scandinavia because so much is literally steps away, the Radisson Blu Riverside has a more boutique hotel feel and stunning views of the harbor and city.

Between the Gothenburg’s public transit system and your Volvo, Radisson Blu Riverside’s location isn’t at all an issue. We loved the rooftop spa facilities and definitely took advantage of reviving our weary bones in the sauna and jacuzzi. The rooms are spacious and unique with custom designed wallpaper and a variety of hip furniture created especially for the hotel. And you’ll love the quirky Cuckoo’s Nest restaurant that plays on the hotel’s location in the Lindholmen Science Park with scientific equations scrawled on the glass, vintage apothecary tables, and a Waco bi-plane flying overhead.

What to do on Your Trip to West Sweden

We won’t give it all away just yet – you’ll have to continue following us on Facebook , Instagram , and X formerly Twitter all this week. Of course, as you can always expect here on Luxe Adventure Traveler, we’ll have info-packed posts on what adventurous things to see and do in West Sweden once we’ve experienced it all to give in order to you the best recommendations. So stay tuned!

We have done this, and it is wonderful!!! Going to do it again this coming September. The travel part is all mapped out for you, and your itinerary is very well written. Do not go in July when the Volvo plant is shut down for a month for their holiday.

You would need to speak to Volvo to inquire about that as it may vary from location to location.

This hasn’t been available in Canada, and was told a while ago that stopped this in the states. I have spent a whole lot of money on my new Volvo and am considering ordering a C40. Why would I not be able to participate? Very unhappy

Buy a Volvo: Get a Free Trip to Sweden!

//  by  Lisa 8 Comments

Want a free trip?! Well, if you are in the market for a new car, and that car happens to be a Volvo, you can get a free trip to Sweden  with the Volvo Overseas Delivery Program. Seriously. What’s the catch? Ahem, none.  Buy a new car, get a free vacation .

Boom. Too bad I’m not in the market for a new car (and hope not to be for awhile as I love being car-free!). But if you are, here’s the deal:

Volvo Overseas Delivery Program

Table of Contents

Volvo Overseas Delivery Program

The Volvo Overseas Delivery Program gives U.S. car-buyers two complimentary tickets on Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to Gothenburg, Sweden   — home of Volvo since the 1920s (although it has since been owned by Ford and now Geely of China) -— where you can pick up your new wheels right off the factory floor.

Sweden Road Trip

Then take your Volvo for a spin ‘round Sweden (or all of Europe really) by taking a road trip in your new car. The first night hotel and 15-days of car insurance is covered. The rest is up to you!

You are free to roam around wherever you can drive or at least until your tourist Visa runs out. If you return it to the factory, your new ride will be shipped back for free to you in the States. And through this program you even save about 8% off the price plus don’t have to deal with certain taxes, import duties and such.

Free Trip to Sweden with Volvo

If you follow my Facebook Page for daily updates, photos, and other goodness, you may recall I was very fortunate to be invited over to Sweden. The good folks at Volvo and the Car + Vacation promotion, welcomed me in order to tool around the countryside with my boyfriend by my side in a Volvo and see some more of this beautiful country.  The funny thing was, I had actually tried to do this story about a decade ago for the ABC television show that I produced, but it never worked out.  Nice how it came back around.

Gothenburg Sweden

Haga, Gothenberg

Before we even hit the road in our Volvo, we had to check out Gothenburg , Sweden’s second city. We toured the city while a cloud of jet lag hung over us, putting us in a bit of a zombie state.  A break was in order, so we stopped for a fika in the Haga, Gothenburg’s oldest (dating back to the 1600s) and most charming cobblestone area full of outdoor cafes, bistros, and the largest cinnamon bun you will ever had.

Norda Bar & Grill Menu

Where to Eat in Gothenburg

We had a lovely dinner at Marcus Samuelsen’s (Gothenburg’s hometown boy that has hit it big in the U.S. with NYC’s Red Rooster in Harlem amongst others) new restaurant, Norda Bar and Grill .

Charcuterie Board

Where to Stay in Gotheburg

Then we crashed in our modern, comfy hotel inside the city’s former post office – now the Clarion Post .  This neo-classical building was built in the 1920s and now has 500 contemporary rooms plus a rooftop pool and wood-decked sun terrace.

Our free trip to Sweden with Volvo was off to a stellar start!

Clarion Post Hotel Gothenburg

Road Trip Sweden Day One

Feeling much more refreshed, the next morning we were ready for a road trip. After fortifying ourselves with what would be many huge Swedish breakfast buffets to come complete with smoked fish, herring, breads, cheeses, fruits, and other goodies, we were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the Volvo headquarters. They shared a bit of the company’s history and demoed some of their famous safety and security engineering concepts. We learned more about this amazing Volvo overseas delivery program… and of course stuffed our bellies with…Swedish meatballs.

Free trip to Sweden with Volvo

First Stop: Kladesholmen —  Salt & Sill

Once we were safely strapped in our new vehicle, we hit the open road (making sure to watch for Moose – or at least ‘Moose crossing’ signs).  Considering I never drive when traveling, let alone have a car back home, traveling by car in Sweden was a breeze. The roads were all like new and signs were abundant and easy to follow.  We drove up West Sweden’s coast passing its many islands and fishing villages. Our first stop? The island of Kladesholmen (Herring Island) with a stay at the delightful Salt and Sill , Sweden’s first floating hotel.

Salt & Sill, Klädesholmen

This area was once all about herring production. There are still a handful of processors…so make sure you try the strong and savory herring board at the Salt & Sill restaurant and get a taste of six different delectable herring preparations.  It may not be for everyone as it is “fishy,” but I loved it!

Salt & Sill Herring Board

The accommodations here were, hands down, my favorite in a long time. The 23-room hotel consists of six cubic two-story structures built on pontoons that float on the water. It is a mix of clean, fresh and bright, with woody cabin feel; think white-washed Pottery Barn style.

Salt & Sill Sunset

Have more time for a longer road trip? Check out the charming area of Småland on  your holidays in Sweden .

After a hike around the mostly residential, charming island which reminded me a bit of New England fishing villages, we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, and dessert on the terrace while watching the late Sweden sun sink into the sea. Then we drifted off to sleep rocked like babies from the gentle waves of the sea.

I’ve done this trip and bought a 2012 Volvo. Going back next year to do it again. You’re right, about the catch. I kept trying to figure it out. No catch. It was a great way to travel and we were treated like royalty. That’s why were doing it again. Plus, I love my Volvo and it was bought at a discount.

Test drive: 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge adds polish to Swedish plug-in hybrid

Joel Feder

Just before Volvo continues its all-electric shift with the XC90-sized EX90 EV , it’s smoothed out its popular plug-in hybrid powertrain in the XC90.

With more electric range, more power, and more refinement all baked into the already appealing Swedish package, the 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge is now nearly ideal for families

That said, Volvo’s move to Android Automotive OS and its tight third row mean the XC90 won’t fit every family or tech desire.

Here are the pros and cons of the 2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge after spending a week shuttling the kids around town, and then taking it north to Lusten, Minnesota for a long ski weekend with my son and friend.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Pro: Volvo XC90 Recharge gets more electric range, more power, and smoother transitions

Thanks to a new battery pack with 14.8 kwh usable, up from the previously usable 9.1 kwh, the Volvo XC90 increases its EPA electric-only range from a scant 18 miles to 33 miles. With temps in the teens and mid-20s cabin heat sucked a few miles of range off the top with me witnessing a solid 27 to 29 miles of electric range. A more powerful 142-hp electric motor replaced the old 87-hp unit. When paired with the 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline-4, the powertrain makes a combined 455 hp and 523 lb-ft of torque. While all the power never delivers a wallop, it’s more than quick enough for a three-row crossover wearing the Volvo badge. Remapped behavior with the 8-speed automatic transmission, plus the more powerful electric motor, mean power transitions are smoother and more in the background than before.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Con: Volvo XC90 Recharge can’t lock fully into electric-only mode—or one-pedal drive

Putting the powertrain into Pure mode is supposed to lock the powertrain into electric-only mode as long as there’s enough charge. It doesn’t. There’s a detent behind the accelerator pedal, and it’s not just one for foot-to-the-floor power. If the pedal is pushed to the three-quarter mark the detent will engage and the gas engine will kick on for full system power.

The latest plug-in hybrid powertrain in the XC90 features a ‘B’ mode for braking, which Volvo calls “one-pedal drive,” as it does with its electric cars. Only here it’s not the same thing. The regenerative braking force is noticeably stronger in B mode, but the vehicle won’t come to a full stop and the force isn’t strong enough to slow the vehicle quickly enough in traffic situations.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Hit: Volvo XC90 Recharge adopts tighter Apple CarPlay integration

Despite dropping Volvo’s in-house Sensus infotainment system and gauge cluster interface for Google’s Android Automotive OS, the automaker’s given the XC90 deeper Apple CarPlay integration. Apple CarPlay requires a wired USB-C connection (the XC90 doesn’t have wireless smartphone charging) and it projects as one expects on the 9.0-inch portrait-style touchscreen on the center of the dashboard. But it now also integrates Apple Maps’ turn-by-turn navigation directions directly into the 12.0-inch digital gauge cluster. That’s slick, and makes Volvo one of the few automakers to feature such tight integration.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Miss: Volvo XC90 Recharge infotainment backtracks

The shift in infotainment operating systems actually removes key functionality from the 9.0-inch touchscreen. The ability to multitask on the homescreen with CarPlay and other apps is gone. The ability to swipe left or right to access quick shortcuts for key vehicle functionality is gone. Some of that functionality simply disappeared while other controls were wrapped into the multi-layer menu system. Changing driving modes for the powertrain requires three taps, two to get into the menu system alone where other vehicle settings live. The interface itself lacks any design effort. This is one step below GM’s effort at slapping a skin on Google’s OS, though it’s somehow more pleasant and easier to use. At least Volvo doesn’t seem interested in removing CarPlay like GM is.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Hit: Volvo XC90 Recharge delivers understated class

In a way that one might argue only the Swedes can do, the XC90 carries class and elegance in a similar way a Range Rover does. There’s just the right amount of tasteful chrome bits, it’s not flashy, the dashboard is simple and unadorned, and everything is low key. The entire package feels rock solid and doesn’t scream, “look at me,” despite my loaded tester’s $87,495 sticker price. The seats might just be the best in the business, and my tester featured a massage function that really came in handy after a long day on the slopes. These are the definition of road-trip-worthy with a 4.5-hour road trip leaving my body unfazed.

2024 Volvo XC90 Recharge

Miss: Volvo XC90 Recharge third-row remains the kid zone

The Volvo XC90 Recharge is one of the few three-row plug-in hybrids, but the third row is by no means adult-friendly. That’s only a con if you need the third row for more than kids, but for those that do it’s important to note the space constraints. At 5-foot-10 I can fit back there, but the second-row passenger is going to horse-trade me for room. And while I have been stuck back there for an hour-and-a-half road trip before, it wasn’t ideal. It’s a kid zone or for short trips if an adult is headed back there. The Lexus TX plug-in hybrid features a more adult-friendly third-row for those in need.

The electric Volvo EX90 will replace the XC90 in the next few years, but in the interim for those looking for a stopgap plug-in hybrid the recent updates to the XC90 Recharge finally make it truly compelling.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Base price: $73,195, including $1,195 destination

Price as tested: $87,495

Powertrain: 455-hp plug-in hybrid, 8-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive

EPA fuel economy: 33 miles of electric range, 27 mpg combined

The pros: Smoother powertrain with more electric range, expanded Apple CarPlay integration, gorgeous and comfortable

The cons: Lacks one-pedal driving, can’t remain in electric-only mode, Google Android Auto OS, tight third row

Volvo XC90: a Thanksgiving road test for Sweden's hot new SUV

Does it live up to the early praise.

By Tamara Warren

volvo xc90 sweden trip

When you’re looking to make a lasting impression, it’s best to take the time to get it right. While the click-hungry musicians of the moment are constantly dropping new tracks and teasers, my favorite artist, the ethereal Erykah Badu, can up and drop a mixtape after a five-year hiatus and still shake things up. In an era of a cultural saturation, there’s something to be said for restraint.

This advice carries over to cars, too. Take Volvo, known as a master of restraint (hello, they literally invented the three-point restraint seat belt in the late ’50s). After an era of financial tumult brought about by its divorce from former corporate parent Ford and a lagging product line, Volvo has finally re-merged on the scene with the introduction of the XC90, an SUV that’s entirely new for the first time since the model’s introduction in 2002. And it’s good . Thanks to an $11 billion investment by its current owner — China’s Geely — the Swedish-born automaker is having a drop-the-mic moment brought about by, of all things, a big truck. Volvo has always projected itself as a luxury brand that mixes cool, quirky, and safe, but with the XC90, it’s doing so on a much grander scale. So far, the praise has been effusive: Motor Trend named it SUV of the Year , it’s Yahoo’s Ride of the Year , and Consumer Reports gave it considerable praise in its recent review.

The praise has been effusive

Last fall, I first spent an afternoon tooling around in the XC90 and realized it deserved a deeper look of my own. For Thanksgiving, I drove it from New York City to Washington, DC to see how it fared on a classic American holiday road trip.

While Volvo knows that Americans spend 26 minutes on their daily commute — research that is feeding into the company’s growing self-driving initiative — it also understands that Americans are open-road types, and as such, they like a smooth, powerful ride. We are a nation of crossovers and SUVs, after all.

I’m all-American in that regard, but when it comes to good design, my tastes lean European. From mile one, the XC90 was stopping traffic. I was still in Brooklyn when I got my first thumbs-up, windows-down inquiry about it. From the outside, it looks expensive — and it is. The MSRP is $48,900, but my test vehicle ballooned with high-dollar options to $66,705. And while the onyx black paint and graceful proportions were turning heads, the real design game is actually happening on the interior.

volvo xc90

The inside of the XC90 looks like it belongs in an Ikea (in a good way). It has that fresh form language that we see in countless starter apartments — clean lines, balanced proportions. The sunlight pours in through the moonroof and the natural walnut trim is inviting without being high-gloss tacky. That’s where the Ikea comparisons end, though. While I’ve found that Ikea couches have short-lived ergonomic appeal, the same can’t be said for the XC90: three grueling hours into the drive on I-95 South, the leather seats were still comfortable and supportive. The backseat driver — a seven-year-old passenger — could change the rear climate independently to his liking. All three passengers had plenty of legroom (and the seven-year-old had the option of hopping into the built-in booster seat). Road noise was minimal, all the better to blare Lykke Li and Miike Snow on the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, which is excellent.

The inside of the XC90 looks like it belongs in an Ikea (in a good way)

At launch, the XC90 shipped with a single engine option — a 2.0-liter direct-injection mill that produces 316 horsepower and runs on a modest four cylinders. It’s equipped with an 8-speed transmission and has start-stop capabilities. For my purposes, the engine had plenty of power to make quick passes on the highway, and while it wasn’t Range Rover boss-like, it didn’t feel sluggish. It averaged about 22 miles per gallon — which is not great, considering the small displacement, transmission, and start-stop system, all of which are designed to improve economy. However, there’s a plug-in hybrid model due out soon in the US that’ll do better for a much steeper base price of $68,100, followed by the coupe, crossover, and station wagon concepts shown at recent auto shows based on the XC90’s form language.

On a longer excursion, the XC90 has features that make you want to fiddle with its new telematics system, which just debuted in this model and will filter into more models in the future. I entered in my destination — the Washington, DC suburb of Alexandria, Virginia — on the iPad-like center console with the same quick, painless satisfaction of signing my name on a Square tablet at a cafe. It’s one of the least frustrating in-car navigations systems I’ve used. The UI is large, readable, and more responsive than similar ones offered by other automakers, such as Cadillac’s CUE. It wasn’t cold enough to wear mittens this Thanksgiving, but I’ve read that I could still use gloved fingers to play with the touchpad — perhaps a testament to Volvo’s cold, Swedish roots. (I did have some electronic quibbles that could be attributed to my well-abused press car, like a USB port that failed to charge.)

volvo xc90

Playing it safe is a longtime Volvo concept. The first Volvos were developed to withstand the harsh conditions of the Scandinavian winters that chewed up foreign vehicles in the late 1920s. It’s held on to that safety-first philosophy over the decades. Though it’s changed hands, Volvo still espouses safety in virtually every ad and piece of marketing material, things like adaptive cruise control and pedestrian detection. Its backup and side view cameras have clear graphics that closely represent the actual proportions of the car to road (sometimes, you get a distracting fisheye effect, but not here). The XC90 also has a self-parking feature, but I didn’t have the patience to wait for my car to park itself; autonomous driving hasn’t yet caught up to the speed of me, it seems.

The real test for the Volvo XC90, as with any vehicle on a road trip, came when it was time to get out. The seven-year old in the back seat didn’t want to; I can’t say I did, either. This car makes you want to be on the inside, which is really where it counts.

2020 Volvo XC90 T8: Swedish Classic With a Green Twist

volvo xc90 sweden trip

The Volvo XC90 is a midsize luxury SUV with a unique silhouette and available plug-in hybrid powertrain that maximizes performance and fuel economy.

Over the years, it has become the Swedish brand’s flagship vehicle. With the increasing popularity of SUVs in all shapes and sizes, the XC90 is now the second best-selling model in the lineup, sandwiched between the XC60 and the even smaller XC40 .

  • Also: Volvo to Stop Selling Gasoline Cars in 2025

The original debuted in 2002, but Volvo waited until 2015 (following its purchase by China’s Geely) to launch a second generation. The latest XC90 is radically different, built on an innovative, modular platform and offering a much more refined, more opulent cabin. It’s no longer a college professor’s ride, but rather a genuine luxury vehicle that plays in the same league as Germany’s holy trio of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, as well as Japan’s Lexus, Acura and Infiniti).

With over 320,000 XC90s on the road across the globe, it’s safe to say Volvo has a good thing going. The 2020 model year brings a few styling revisions and technical upgrades, but the core is still the same.

volvo xc90 sweden trip

Subtle Changes

Outside, the 2020 Volvo XC90 stands out from previous editions with a redesigned grille and bumpers, integrated roof rails in an aluminum finish, new-look wheels ranging from 18-22 inches in size, plus new body colours. The LED daytime running lights, shaped like Thor’s hammer, are naturally carried over. In fact, they’ve become the brand’s visual signature.

The cabin features a subtly refreshed, yet still conventional dashboard. There’s a nine-inch vertical display in the middle and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Customers have plenty of selection when it comes to seating upholstery (leatherette, nubuck cloth, anthracite or cream Nappa leather, etc.) and trim pieces (ash wood, walnut wood, carbon fibre, etc.), which is exactly what you want from a luxury SUV.

volvo xc90 sweden trip

Just Four Cylinders

Under the hood, don’t look for a five- or six-cylinder engine like the original XC90 had. The second generation uses a smaller 2.0-litre four-cylinder that benefits from a few tricks to meet the power requirements of drivers.

The base T5 engine uses a turbocharger to produce 250 horsepower, while the mid-range T6 adds a supercharger to increase output to 316 horsepower. Our tester was blessed with the top-line T8 powertrain, which combines the aforementioned T6 with electric motors for a total of 400 horsepower. It’s all handled by an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

Three Levels of Performance

Each powertrain is quicker than the next. The T5 sends the XC90 from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, but the T6 and T8 are more impressive with acceleration times of 6.5 seconds and 5.6 seconds, respectively. For a family-oriented, three-row SUV that weighs about two tons, this is pretty remarkable.

What about fuel consumption? Natural Resources Canada rates the 2020 Volvo XC90 T5 at 9.9 L/100 km, while the T6 variant achieves a combined 10.7 L/100 km. The gas-electric XC90 T8 is obviously more efficient, as evidenced by an official rating of 8.8 L/100 km.

volvo xc90 sweden trip

The problem is we couldn’t match that last number with our R-Design tester. In fact, our average was a disappointing 11.7 L/100 km. The 11.6-kWh battery theoretically delivers a zero-emission range of 29 kilometres, which is much shorter than the 50 kilometres provided by the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan or the 76 kilometres achieved by the Honda Clarity sedan.

A Different Kind of Electrification

Customers looking for more electrification in a Swedish vehicle should turn to Volvo’s new EV brand, Polestar , because the XC90 T8 is more about performance than saving the planet. That being said, CO2 emissions are half those generated by the T5 and T6 models.

We just hope you have the means to afford this 400-horsepower XC90, though. A fully loaded Inscription model can top $120,000 before tax and other charges—seriously.

Whether you opt for the whole shebang or a more affordably priced model, the 2020 Volvo XC90 is a unique SUV with timeless elegance, superb fit and finish, and extremely comfortable bucket seats. The cargo area is quite spacious and versatile, too, at least with the rear seats folded. With occupants in every seat, the trunk is fairly tight. Another complaint is the rather heavy cargo cover, which is hard to remove and put back in place.

For sure, the driving experience is pleasant thanks to precise steering, smooth shifting, a comfortable ride delivered by the available air suspension, and lively acceleration resulting from the electrified T8 powertrain. If only the various driver assistance features were less intrusive. Also, some of the controls, like the Park button or the drive mode selector on the centre console, could be more ergonomic. For Thor’s sake, we hope Volvo fixes that soon.

What's New for 2024?

The 2024 Volvo XC90 is a largely carryover model. That said, Volvo makes a handful of small changes to the SUV's features and options menus, the most notable of which is the demise of the Dark theme and its black exterior trim pieces. The Bright theme and its chrome bits live on, though. Other updates include the likes of standard laminated side windows on the top-spec Ultimate trim and a newly available 22-inch wheel and tire package for the turbocharged and supercharged XC90 B6 Ultimate.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

The price of the 2024 Volvo XC90 starts at $57,895 and goes up to $80,895 depending on the trim and options.

Volvo allows for a decent amount of configurability when it comes to building the perfect XC90, but to find a good balance of opulence, price, and power we’d suggest starting with the Plus trim, adding the optional 295-hp B6 powertrain, and sticking with the cheaper seven-passenger bench-seat layout instead of paying for second-row captain’s chairs.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

Even the B5 and B6 powertrains receive help from a 48-volt electric motor. B5 models feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 247 horsepower. Moving up to the B6 powertrain, available on Plus and standard on Ultimate trim levels, increases output to 295 horsepower. The 455-hp plug-in-hybrid XC90 Recharge is the most powerful of the group. All-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission come with every XC90, no matter the trim level or powertrain. A Recharge shot to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds at our test track. As with many vehicles in this class, the Volvo leans noticeably around curves, but its steering responses are accurate and the wheel has a pleasing heft that splits the difference between feather-light and heavyweight. Our test car had the optional air suspension, which provided a pleasant, insulated ride. It also handled most road situations well. Some clattering from the chassis over particularly sharp bumps betrays minor road imperfections, one of only a few grievances with the otherwise graceful XC90.

Towing and Payload Capacity

Those interested in pulling boats, trailers, and other toys should be aware not every XC90 is capable of the model’s 5000-pound max tow rating. While every XC90 with the 295-hp B6 powertrain and XC90 Recharge can pull that much, XC90s with the base 247-hp B5 powertrain max out at 4000 pounds.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

With the exception of its plug-in powertrain, the XC90 achieves similar fuel-economy ratings to many of its six-cylinder competitors. Last year, the 247-hp B5 powertrain earned an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city and 28 highway, while XC90s with the 295-hp B6 powertrain returned 20 city and 26 mpg highway ratings. The XC90 Recharge netted an EPA-rated 66 MPGe. It can also go for as far as 36 miles on battery power, according to the EPA. During our 75-mph real-world highway fuel-economy test, the XC90 Recharge fell short of its EPA rating , earning just 58 MPGe and traveling 29 miles on battery power. For more information about the XC90's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website .

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The XC90's interior is a masterpiece of the medium, featuring an attractive design and high-quality materials. We wish there were more vehicles like this. Adults won't be happy in the third row, especially if the journey is long. The XC90's wide, boxy silhouette helps in the cargo-hauling department, but interior compartments aren't as cavernous as in some competitors.

2024 volvo xc90 recharge interior

Infotainment and Connectivity

A handsome, tablet-like 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard in all XC90s. Every model has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability; a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot is optional. Additional redundant hard buttons, as well as more intuitive on-screen controls, would notably improve its functionality.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Overall safety rating (nhtsa).

Volvo's commitment to safety is legendary, and its three-row crossover has a loaded roster of driver-assistance technology . For more information about the XC90's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ( NHTSA ) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS ) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
  • Standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Standard lane-departure warning

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

The XC90 has a merely average warranty plan versus competitors. However, Volvo outdoes them by offering excellent complimentary scheduled maintenance.

  • Limited warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
  • Powertrain warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles
  • Electrical components are covered for eight years or 100,000
  • Complimentary maintenance is covered for three years or 36,000 miles
