Matt Friedlander

Updated:

Todd Rundgren has lined an expansive 2024 U.S. trek that he’s dubbed the Me/We Tour. The 38-date road trip will kick off with an April 17 show in Minneapolis and is plotted out through a July 3 concert in Portland, Oregon.

According to Todd-Rundgren.com, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will be accompanied by a full band that features his longtime bassist Kasim Sulton and drummer Prairie Prince. The group is rounded out by sax player Bobby Strickland, keyboardist Gil Assayas, and guitarist Bruce McDaniel.

Tickets for Rundgren’s Me/We Tour are on sale now via various outlets. You can get your tickets via StubHub , where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

Prior to the U.S. trek, Rundgren will be heading Down Under in February for a trio of concerts in Australia. The shows are scheduled for February 22 in Melbourne, February 23 in Brisbane, and February 24 in Sydney. The eclectic Melbourne-based rock act Sex on Toast will open those gigs.

Rundgren’s most recent concerts were a series of 2023 shows opening for Daryl Hall of Hall & Oates. Rundgren’s most recent studio album, Space Force , was released in October 2022. The collaborative project featured the veteran singer/songwriter teaming up with such artists as Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Adrian Belew, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Crowded House’s Neil Finn, The Roots, Sparks, Thomas Dolby, The Lemon Twigs, and Steve Vai.

See the full Me/We Tour routing below. Rundgren fans will not want to pass up on this opportunity to see the “Hello, It’s Me” rocker and his band playing a mix of hits, deep cuts, and select covers at his concerts this year.

Don’t wait – these tickets are likely to go quickly. Head to StubHub now to see if tickets are available to a show near you!

Todd Rundgren announces 2024 ‘Me/We Tour.’ Get tickets today

We can’t wait to bang the drum all spring and summer.

Todd Rundgren just announced his 38-concert ‘Me/We Tour’ that will send him to theaters, performing arts centers, casinos, auditoriums and bowls all over North America from April through July.

Over the course of the four-month run, the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will spend quite a bit of time in New York and New Jersey.

As of now, the 75-year-old former Nazz frontman has lined up shows in North Tonawanda, NY (April 30), Englewood, NJ (May 2), Atlantic City (May 3), Port Chester, NY (May 5), Hackensack, NJ (May 9) and Patchogue, NY (May 11).

And while fans can likely expect to hear the hits — “I Saw The Light,” and “Hello, It’s Me” to name just a few — Rundgren also likes to mix in classic Motown and R&B covers as well.

For those that can’t wait to get their hands on tickets, you’re in luck.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, Jan. 19, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Shockingly, Rundgren doesn’t just stick to the songs fans know and love at live shows.

According to Set List FM , here’s what he brought to the stage at his final U.S. show in 2023:

01.) “Real Man”

02.) “Love of the Common Man”

03.) “It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference”

04.) “We Gotta Get You a Woman”

05.) “Buffalo Grass”

06.) “I Saw the Light”

07.) “Black Maria”

08.) “Unloved Children”

09.) “Hello It’s Me” (Nazz song)

10.) “Sometimes I Don’t Know What to Feel”

11.) “I’m So Proud” (The Impressions cover)

12.) “Ooo Baby Baby” (The Miracles cover)

13.) “I Want You” (Marvin Gaye cover)

14.) “The Want of a Nail”

In October ’22, Rundgren called upon some of his most musically gifted friends to create an all-over-the-map feast for the ears.

“Space Force,” comprised of 12 tracks, features big names like Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, The Roots, Sparks, Steve Vai and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen among others to give each song a distinct flavor.

For us, the retro reggae “Down With The Ship” and the operatic pop experiment “Your Fandango” are our favorites; however, every listener will likely find a cut that resonates more with them.

To find the recent Rundgren that hits hardest for you, you can listen to the exquisitely produced “Space Force” here .

Disco may be dead but the ’70s never died.

Many of the greatest acts from the Nixon, Ford and Carter eras are still hoofing it this year.

Here are just five you won’t want to miss live these next few months.

•  Rolling Stones

•  The Eagles

• Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

• Stevie Nicks

•  Styx with Foreigner

Who else is on the road? Check out our list of the 52 biggest classic rockers on tour in 2024 here to find out.

Vivid Seats is the New York Post's official ticketing partner. We may receive revenue from this partnership for sharing this content and/or when you make a purchase.

Excellent show. 2 hours and 45 minutes inclusive of 20 minute intermission. Outstanding crowd, Liberty Hall was packed....line extended around corner an way down block..took a long time to get in. I am sure some folks missed start of show asa result. Liberty Hall was not prepared security wise. Loud drug induced blond kept yelling from secod row of balcony, then came down to floor and jumped(i.e. crawled) o stage. Kasinm i tervened quickly and grabbed her arm and dragged her to security. Lady then got kicked out....but wait there is more....she went atound to front of buildin...past the sleeping security.....and came back uo to her seat. Finally sometold an usher who sent security up 2 to evict her! Funny thing is her catatonic hubby stayed for show...not to mention enabled her screaming and stage climbing venture..

Nonetheless the music was outstanding.! Dont miss this tour.

Great show. Todd was in great form. It is amazing how great is voice is after all these years. He is in really top form. I think he was pacing himself a small bit compared to the Utopia show I saw a few months ago, but given that he was doing 3 shows, 3 nights in a row I can't blame him.

It was a great show, lots of interaction and sharing of stories. The first half was predominately older tunes back to the early days. Second half was more recent material.

Saw the show at the Danforth in Toronto. A tired old venue. It was probably great 50 years ago but while not literally falling apart now, it's close. I wish Todd's people had booked him into one of the many superior venues in the area but c'est la vie, I go to see Todd where he plays!

I was fortunate to see Todd on his Unpredictable Tour at the Daisy Theatre on Beale Street and the whole evening went flawlessly and resulted in another great music event!

The Daisy was at full capacity but kept that "Up Close and Personal Jam Session with Todd in your Living Room" feeling...what could be better?

The Unpredictable Tour name was spot on with Todd and the band playing pretty much whatever they wanted. The vocals were a "Spot On" mix of Crooner tunes, 80's classics and of course mixed with Utopia originals.

Todd still has the Pipes and the band was tight on! All very talented singer musicians...impressive and admirable at my/their ages.

Final note...don't miss the show! You'll regret it like my 2017 Tom Petty/Joe Walsh questionable decision not to attend :(

I'll post the rest later, but will say this- it was the 2nd half of the playlist that got my excitement up as i entered songs and saw titles. Probably why i subconsciously "accidentally" played the 13s instead of the 14s the other night.

KarmaPolice said: In Every Dream Home a Heartache certainly is odd, but it also might be my favorite so far. I think of all the artists on the playlist Ferry is the one I am most uncertain of my opinion of. I really need an artist playlist dedicated listen to this one. I wasn't expecting the 60s/70s vibe here (reminded me a bit of White Room and Cream), but echoing my thoughts on what I loved about Oingo Boingo, the oddness really kicked in, and I had a similar "wait, what is he singing about??? moments". Pip's Invitation

Pip's Invitation

Known and liked songs from #15 include The Moodies, STP, Mayfield, Roxy (their signature song in the US until More Than This and Avalon got a ton of play on MTV), DMB, Chesney, Beach Boys, The Doors and EWF. Thoughts on some of the others: I guess I do vaguely remember this Boingo song in Sixteen Candles. I mainly remember it as "geek dances to New Wave music." Geyser is a whirlwind of emotions in less than 2.5 minutes. If Elvis had lived and he wasn't a drug-addled mess under the control of a shyster, he might have sounded like Bring It Back Again in the '80s. Forever Chords is dreamy and majestic. And there's definitely a Cortez the Killer vibe, but this is not the Strand of Oaks Cortez doppelganger that closed their set that I saw and that I am hoping to see in this countdown. (Forever Chords also has some similarities to Steam Engine by My Morning Jacket, which makes sense since four of its members played on this record.) But I think I like this one just as much as that one. "The problem with living/Is one day you won't". Damn. Ghost Highway is something I didn't think was possible: ethereal garage rock. Walking Down Your Street is bubbly in the same way that Love Shack is, but it came out before that. What I Like About Texas is a good snapshot of what country was like before it fused with the most formulaic styles of rock to become something even more formulaic. Plasticities is exquisite. There's even a little bit of post-rock sound in the arrangement. WSOD is another Shellac track with an incredible bass part. April Wine's three guitars are put to good use on the live version of Anything You Want, You Got It.

KarmaPolice said: Every Open Eye is my favorite album from Chvrches, and Empty Threat is a great example why. JML mentioned as well, but when I was listening my notes were more of a running theme I keep mention - me very much liking music that doesn't exactly match the lyrics. They have a way of doing fantastic sounding upbeat pop songs that have an angry edge to them when you dig a little deeper. Click to expand...

Given my love of Forever Chords and another song from it that Eephus spotlighted in a previous countdown, I am listening to Strand of Oaks' Eraserland. Much of it could indeed pass for a My Morning Jacket album. Those guys must have been happy to be working together in a studio again, as they did not make any albums between 2015 and 2021 -- Jim James continued to tour with them, but was focused on releasing solo albums during this time. Anyway, in addition to the two songs referenced above, there's another I've completely fallen in love with. I hope it appears high (Binky: low) on Eephus' list.

#1'2 - "Sing A Song" In a catalog chock-full of uplifting songs, this may be the happiest EWF record of them all. You could do a lot worse than start every day with this one. The album it came from - Gratitude - was a (mostly) live double LP. It hit #1 on Billboard's Top 200, which was unique for a live R&B album (let alone a double). There were a couple of studio songs tacked on - "Sing A Song" was one, and it went Top 5 on the pop charts. Up next, one of EWF's most enduring songs.

Brian Setzer - Rumble in Brighton This verson is the Brian Setzer Orchestra. They are covering the Stray Cats version , linked here for your convenience.

Sorry, I forgot to post about the mistake I didn't catch until last night. As I quickly click through I seem to miss that step of verifying the title with the link. My lazy butt just clicks and goes. Anyway, I noticed as I made the 12s that I was adding Close to Me for the 2nd time. We didn't catch that the #13s had Pictures of You for the song title, but Close to Me for the link. Then the 12s had Close to Me for both title and link. Since it was the full cycle of listening, I made the call to put in Pictures of You for the #12s, but forgot to warn @Juxtatarot and @Zegras11 of the swap and mistake.

John Maddens Lunchbox said: The video led to trolls at 4chan launching a misogynistic attack on Lauren. She responded on a tweet “ Dear anyone who thinks misogyny isn't real. It is and this is what it looks like” Fellow band members responded on the bands offical account “ PSA: apparently wet hair makes you a 'slut'. Nice work, 4chan / humanity ." Click to expand...

12. Meanwhile (Long Distance Voyager, 1981) Meanwhile was one of the first songs that Justin Hayward wrote in preparation for the album, and with some foresight about their new producer. He recalled years later: "I think I was probably influenced by knowing that Pip [Williams] was going to do the album, knowing that he'd done Status Quo , and having this song around...I thought 'That's great; it's in the Status Quo tempo. That's perfect for it.' However, it didn't turn out anything like Status Quo: it just sounded like the Moody Blues." Williams recalled: "This was a serious happening track from Day One...There is something very seductive – musically – about songs that comprise any form of suspended chord structure of 'hanging in the air' feeling." The song was well-received by the critics, and Hayward had hoped it would have been released as single, but it was decided above them that other songs, including Gemini Dream (which reached #12 on the Hot 100) would get to be singles. Nevertheless, it did get enough airplay on album-oriented rock stations to reach #11 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. As my tastes have changed over the years, I find this may be my favorite or second favorite song from this album, and after seeing them play the next selection live, it became the other song I can't decide is my favorite or second favorite from it.

Oh, lovely. An interview with Billy Joel is coming up on Sunday Today. Should I use chopsticks or lawn darts to finish off my eardrums? Wonder if they'll ask him what he thinks about every bandmember he ever worked with hates him because he screwed them.

12. All Mine Album: Mothers Pride (1973) Writers: June Millington and Jean Millington Lead vocals: June Millington and Jean Millington As I have stated, Fanny's fourth album, Mothers Pride, is disappointing, especially because it was produced by one of my favorite artists, Todd Rundgren, but mostly doesn't achieve the heights that can be heard on many of the records he produced for himself and others. The disc mostly lacks energy and has few memorable songs. But All Mine, the album's first US single (it did not chart), is the one track where the Rundgren magic was evident. The organ-and-guitar intro is one of the most soulful instrumental passages the band recorded, the melody is compelling throughout, June Millington's guitar flourishes at the end of each verse sound like something Robbie Robertson would have played, and the song overall exudes a spine-tingling warmth that never devolves into sappiness. All Mine is also notable for being one of Fanny's few straightforward love songs. People at the time probably would have expected an all-female band to have a repertoire of mostly love songs, so their lyrical subjects were another case of them zagging when everyone expected them to zig. The song is one of the few Fanny tracks where the Millington sisters (who co-wrote it) share lead vocals but trade them instead of sing in unison the whole time. Jean takes the first verse, June takes the second, and they sing the third together. This track is also the only time on the album where you can hear Rundgren -- he provides a counterpoint vocal during the third verse and the coda. This is the last ballad on my list. All bangers from here on out. Live on The Midnight Special on 4/17/73: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_YhgHykdl0 . This was the first song of their only Midnight Special appearance. The second was their cover of Randy Newman's Last Night I Had a Dream, which was in my Last 5 Out. At #11, a cover that the band made their own to the point of writing a new passage for it.

Pip's Invitation said: The lineup for the Midnight Special episode Fanny appeared on also included Bill Cosby (host), David Brenner, Ray Charles, Waylon Jennings, Billy Preston, Steely Dan and Taj Mahal. Click to expand...
