Blocking Ads on The Reddit App – Reddit Ad Blocker

The only way to block ads on the Reddit App is to subscribe to Reddit Premium. Reddit Premium members can use the Reddit App ad-free.

I am not a Reddit premium member, so I cannot tell you if this is worth the money. However, many people do swear by its benefits and say that for less than $20 per year, they get access to other features, such as downloading images from subreddits in high-resolution and a few other perks.

I will say that it is worth checking out if you are a Reddit user because the benefits of not seeing ads on every page load might be more than enough incentive to invest in.

The downside of not getting Reddit Premium for me, and many people I’m sure who depend heavily upon ad blocking software or methods such as this – which can work well most times but won’t always – is that they are not 100% guaranteed to work.

An ad blocker for Reddit might be worth trying out if you want a better experience on the website, but it’s also important take into consideration how often ads load when visiting pages before deciding whether or purchase premium membership or use an alternative solution.

Blocking Reddit Ads on iOS

When using iOS, you can install the ad-blocking Safari Extension called “AdFender”. This extension is free and will block all ads on Reddit that are served through an external domain.

The installation process for AdFender does not require any type of jailbreaking or hacking your iPhone like with other solutions such as BlockSite Pro which is not free.

Enable “Content Blocking” by going to Settings > Safari and then turning on the content blocker toggle for AdFender after installing it.

When you are on the Reddit homepage in Safari, click “AdFender” in order to block all ads. If there is a specific type of ad that needs blocking then simply tap it and AdFender will automatically remove this from your view!

These steps work for Apple devices running iOS 11 or higher without any need jailbreaking– and it’s free!

Blocking Reddit Ads on Android

The steps to blocking ads on Reddit while using an Android device are as follows:

First, you will need a content blocker app installed. I recommend Adblock Plus because it is free and can be used with any browser!

After installing the ad-blocking service of your choice from Google Play (or another App Store), head over into Settings > Apps > Google Play Store (or Appstore)

Press “Clear Defaults” and also press Clear Data to make sure the ad blocker is working.

From this menu, head into Settings again but click on Apps instead of General

This time select your browser from a list that pops up by tapping Browser app then tap Block ads on Reddit in order to activate the ad blocker.

Some ads come from the first party domain. You’d have to block Reddit.

Block Reddit Ads on Chrome

In order to block Reddit Ads on chrome, the Chrome browser extension called Reddit Promoted Ad Blocker is required. Reddit Promoted Ad Blocker will automatically remove promoted posts on Reddit without you having to do anything else. It is one of the best ad blocker Chrome Reddit options you can find.

Follow these steps to block ads on Reddit with Chrome:

• In the top right-hand corner of your screen, click “Extensions.”
• Choose “Reddit Promoted Ad Blocker” from all extensions listed and then press enable button in order for this extension work properly when browsing the Reddit site posts/comments page.
• Click “+Add to Chrome” button on top right hand corner of the next pop-up screen.
• Click “Add Extension” and then click “Install Now.”

You will see a Download complete notification below where you can confirm installation completion or find out why it failed if necessary, as well in case an extension is not compatible with your browser version.

Block Reddit Ads on Firefox

Follow these steps to block ads on reddit with Firefox:

Install and activate the Firefox extension Reddit Ad Remover. Reddit Ad Remover is one the best adblocker Reddit options for blocking those pesky advertisements while you browse Reddit site posts/comments page.

You can download and install the Firefox extension from here:

• On top right hand corner of the “Add Extension” pop up screen, click “Install”.

What the extension will do is inject CSS code into the DOM (only within ‘reddit’ domain) which will hide ‘PROMOTED’ posts and sidebar advertisements.

Reddit Ad Block With uBlock Origin

Go to the uBlock Origin Dashboard.

Select the “Ads” tab.

Underneath this section, there should be a list of domains that uBlock Origin is blocking ads from by default (such as YouTube and Facebook).

Add Reddit into these blocked sites by clicking on “+Add Domain”.

Go to “My Filters” and enter in “www.reddit.com##.promotedlink”

Click “Add this filter”.

Once you apply changes, Reddit Ads will be blocked.

Why Can’t Adguard Block Reddit App Ads?

AdGuard blocks DNS requests to ad servers in order to block ads. Ads on the Reddit App are served from the “reddit.com” domain. Blocking this domain will block access to the Reddit website so a DNS based solution can’t be used to block Reddit Ads.

Here’s an explanation of how it all works.

DNS stands for Domain Name System, and it translates the names of websites that we type into our browser to numerical IP addresses, which are then used by computers to connect with each other on the internet. This translation process can now be manipulated in order to block certain advertisements from appearing when you visit certain sites.

So how does this work? Well, every time your computer goes online, there’s a chance an advertisement will pop up on your screen, trying to sell you something or get some information about you (this is what advertisers are after).

This ad could be from a site like Facebook or YouTube, but it’s also possible that the ads on your screen are being served to you by an entirely different company.

If there is more than one advertisement showing up at once (one for Amazon and another advertising something totally unrelated) then this might mean someone else has control over what ads are being shown to you.

In this case, the other company has access and is controlling what ads appear on your screen in order for them to make money off of these advertisements through a process called ad networks or real-time bidding where people bid against each another (just like an auction) so that their advertisement appears when certain keywords show up online.

With the help of AdGuard, you have an option to block ads from Google or other companies that are controlling what is shown on your screen.

This will allow for more uninterrupted viewing and browsing without being interrupted by advertisements showing up in places where they were not wanted, like YouTube, when trying to watch videos with friends.

The idea behind Pi-hole is pretty simple, you’re just blocking ads for all of your devices. This means that not only will the ads disappear from your computer, but they’ll also be blocked on any other device you use with that network connection (i.e. if you’re connected to WiFi).

Pi-hole is a network-wide ad blocker, and it’s pretty easy to set up. It blocks ads for all devices on your network without the need for any client-side software installation. The Pi-hole can be installed in about 10 minutes from start to finish, and once set up you don’t have to worry about it again.

Pi-hole – network-wide ad blocking.

Safari 13 is severely grippled Adblocker-wise, unfortunately. Switched to Chrome (+ uBlock Origin) because of that. Nothing from the Safari-Blockers comes even close. Tested AdGuard (blocked not as much, made browsing slower), 1Blocker, Wipr and others – nothing compares to uBlock Origin.

Native ads, often seen as sponsored posts, disrupt the user experience, creating a cycle of frustration. To address this, users seek solutions like a Reddit ad blocker. Let’s explore how to block ads on the Reddit app and potentially influence the platform’s advertising policy.

Reddit Premium costs $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year. For that price, you get access to a secret r/lounge, exclusive customization of an avatar and an app icon, Premium awards, and ad-free browsing. You also receive 700 Reddit coins at the beginning of every month while your subscription is active. Devoted Redditors might find this deal quite advantageous. If you’re one of them and don’t mind another subscription, you better purchase Reddit Premium in the web browser, not the app. An in-app subscription costs $6.99 a month and $59.99 a year because Android and iOs charge developers a percentage for a subscription. Don’t worry, Premium subscription is linked to your profile, not a device. No matter how you purchased it, it would be active on all devices you logged in. 

Earning an award that grants a Premium subscription

If you wonder how to block ads on the Reddit app for free, this paragraph will give you a hint. When you make a splendid post, a kind stranger can award it with…well, an award. Some awards not only tickle the vanity of a receiver but also grant some perks, among which is ad-free browsing. Those awards are:

 – Gold one that gives one week of ad-free browsing;

We’ll search for a workaround concerning this issue, but at the moment there’s nothing we can do.

Block Reddit ads on Safari with enabled AdLock

That’s all you need to block ads on the Reddit website on an Android phone. To keep ad blocking smooth and effective, check for updates regularly in the AdLock settings. The app updates automatically by default, but sometimes the process can rupture when the internet connection is unstable.

There are plenty of ad-blocking extensions to choose from to get rid of ads on Reddit on Chrome, but why struggle with searches when you can download AdLock ? In the previous chapter, I explained how to get rid of Reddit ads using the AdLock application on PC. An app can likewise block any adverts in Firefox. Because we don’t want you to! And I’m only partly joking. At best, unknown ad blockers and extensions, especially free ones, can collect your data to sell to marketers, ironically. Now, having said that, look how many other ad blockers in the store have the same sign. 

Another way to read Reddit without ads on iOS is by using a third-party client. Unofficial apps can be more user-friendly, cheer an eye with a slick design, and provide some cool add-ons, but they also come with pitfalls. I found eight alternatives to an official Reddit app, both for iOS and Android. As I haven’t done in-depth research on them, I couldn’t provide you with the list. You can easily find them on Google, though. I discovered that among eight apps, there are only three that don’t collect any data at all and only one that collects only information used for diagnostic of app performance. The rest of the apps collect data that they may or may not use for marketing purposes.      

The other pitfall of using the third-party client is that they don’t offer all services an official Reddit app provides. Some of them even charge money for basic functions like creating posts. 

AdLock has no trouble performing as a Reddit adblocker. An entertaining platform has primitive, easily detected types of ads. AdLock works like a charm on them, but it also deals with more dangerous scammy pop-ups, banners, and autoplay on different sites, applications, and games. In previous chapters, you learned how to use our ad-blocking application for all devices and operational systems.  Scroll up if you miss them and pick your instructions. 

Reddit ads are not the most intrusive, and the majority of users tolerate them. The unique feature of the platform is that it houses subs that show how to block ads on the same platform. You can also wind down and address your concerns about ads directly to admins in r/redditads . That’s why I think the price of $5.99 a month for Premium is a bit high for dealing with minor inconveniences. Of course, it provides more stuff, but who do we kidding? Trump Team Clashed With Official at Arlington National Cemetery

The military cemetery said in a statement that federal law prohibits political campaigning on the grounds, and that “there was an incident, and a report was filed.”

Members of Donald J. Trump’s campaign team and an official at Arlington National Cemetery confronted each other during the former president’s visit to the cemetery on Monday, the military cemetery said in a statement on Tuesday.

The altercation was prompted, according to Trump campaign officials, by the presence of a photographer in a section of the cemetery where American troops who were killed in recent wars are buried. The cemetery released a statement saying that federal law prohibits political campaigning or “election-related” activities within Army cemeteries, including by photographers.

An official with the cemetery tried to “physically block” members of Mr. Trump’s team, Steven Cheung, a Trump campaign spokesman, said in a statement. Mr. Cheung added that the cemetery official was “clearly suffering from a mental health episode” and that the campaign was prepared to release footage of the confrontation to support its account of the clash. The campaign did not provide that footage after several requests.

Chris LaCivita, a top Trump campaign adviser, added in a separate statement that the cemetery official was “a disgrace and does not deserve to represent the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.”

Cemetery officials did not provide their own account of the encounter, saying instead that “there was an incident, and a report was filed.” In an additional statement on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the cemetery said that “to protect the identity of the individual involved, no further information about the incident is being released at this time.”

The cemetery added that it had “reinforced and widely shared” to the Trump campaign the federal laws prohibiting campaign activities by photographers “or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate’s campaign.”

News of the altercation was first reported by NPR.

VoteVets, the liberal veterans group, called on Mr. Trump to fire the members of his team involved in the confrontation.

Mr. Trump had visited the cemetery for a wreath-laying ceremony honoring 13 American troops who were killed in a suicide bombing at Abbey Gate at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, during the United States’ withdrawal from that country three years ago. Mr. Trump has blamed President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the bombing and America’s chaotic withdrawal, and repeated his attacks on the subject in campaign events after his visit to the cemetery.

Mr. Trump had laid three wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery on Monday morning, the third anniversary of the Abbey Gate bombing. Two of the wreaths were for Marines killed: Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover and Sgt. Nicole Gee. A third was dedicated to all 13 troops killed.

Mr. Trump was accompanied for the laying of the wreaths by family members of the slain troops, as well as Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews and Corporal Kelsee Lainhart , two Marines who were injured in the Abbey Gate attack. Sergeant Vargas-Andrews lost his right arm and left leg in the attack, and Corporal Lainhart was paralyzed in the attack and now uses a wheelchair.

Mr. Trump then accompanied the families and Marine veterans to Section 60 of the cemetery, reserved for those recently killed in America’s wars abroad, including at Abbey Gate.

That part of Mr. Trump’s visit was private and closed to the press. Mr. Cheung, the Trump campaign spokesman, pointed to a screenshot of an email that he argued gave the campaign photo access to Section 60. That excerpt, however, says that “former President Trump may have an official photographer and/or videographer outside of the main media pool,” but it does not suggest Mr. Trump’s photographer was given special access.

The campaign also shared text messages from family members of the veterans consenting to having Mr. Trump’s campaign media attend the event at Section 60. The campaign did not provide evidence that the cemetery gave them permission to have a photographer at Section 60 — which the cemetery said in its statement would be a violation of federal law.

Gov. Spencer J. Cox, Republican of Utah — who visited the cemetery with Mr. Trump — shared a photo from Section 60 on social media, with Mr. Trump and others in a “thumbs-up” pose around the grave of Staff Sergeant Hoover.
