California State University, Northridge is hosting its annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 28, offering local high school and community college students an all-access look at the campus and its programs.

At the Open House, which takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., students and their families will be presented with a chance to tour CSUN, connect with a variety of student support services and organizations and familiarize themselves with the campus as they plan for college.

The event will also feature a number of workshops on how students can plan a path to college, understand available resources, navigate financial aid and more. The informational workshops will be repeated throughout the day offering select presentations in both English and Spanish.

Planned activities will showcase all eight of CSUN’s academic colleges, giving students the opportunity to learn about different majors.

“Our goal as a university is to make sure students have the support they need to succeed in college,” said Juana Maria Valdivia, director of Student Outreach and Recruitment. “That support starts long before they even apply to CSUN. More than 70% of our students are the first in their families to go to college. Events like Open House help us connect with students early on so they know they won’t be lost in the crowd and can be successful here.”

Activities within the various colleges are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and continue until 1 p.m. and include presentations and facility tours as well as student panels and information tables.

Students ready to apply to CSUN for fall 2024 can visit the event’s drop-in style support center for hands-on help with their Cal State Apply application.

“Our faculty and staff are fiercely committed to student success,” said Valdivia. “Guests who attend Open House will really get a glimpse of the positive community we’ve created here as they learn how becoming a CSUN Matador will help them reach their goals.”

The CSUN Open House is free to students and their guests, however pre-registration is required. For questions about the event or applying to CSUN, contact Student Outreach and Recruitment via email at [email protected] . To register for the event visit, https://www.csun.edu/csun-open-house .

Pink resumes tour after health scare, tells fans 'We are going to shake our juicy booties'

Pink is resuming her Summer Carnival Tour after an unspecified health issue with a colorful statement.

After cancelling a show in Bern, Switzerland on Tuesday due to an unspecified health issue, the pop-rock superstar is returning to the stage in Copenhagen, Denmark.

"I’m back COPENHAGEN and we are going to shake our JUICY BOOTIES together tonight!!!!!!!" the singer captioned the post. Earlier this week, the "Trustfall" singer took to Instagram to apologize to fans for canceling the show.

"I am so sorry that I have had to cancel my show in Bern this Wednesday," she wrote in an  Instagram caption . "I do everything I can to ensure I can perform for you every night, but after consultation with my doctor and exploring all options available, I’ve been advised that I'm unable to continue with the show tomorrow."

"I was looking forward to being with you and making memories with you and sharing our show with you and am so disappointed that we have to cancel," she added. "Sending love and health to you all, and I really hope to see you again soon."

All purchased tickets for the previous show were refunded. Her tour  will head to Amsterdam, Brussels and Stockholm, as well as several German cities, through the end of the month.

On her Summer Carnival Tour, in support of her ninth studio album, "Trustfall," Pink performs the greatest hits that span her two-decade musical career as she fills stadiums with impressive visuals, from aerial acrobatics to over-the-top costumes.

The tour first launched in Europe last June and circled North America from July through early October last year, and this February, Pink embarked on a new leg of the tour in Australia and New Zealand.

Pink is set to launch the second North American leg of the tour in St. Louis, Missouri, on Aug. 10 after the Europe portion wraps.

Luke Combs records video with Post Malone before big MetLife Stadium shows this weekend

2 minute read.

Portrait of Chris Jordan

Luke Combs had an interesting warm up for his upcoming concerts on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The “Fast Car” country star recorded a music video Wednesday, July 17, with Post Malone over five blocks on Lower Broadway in Nashville. The track was “Guy for That” from the upcoming Malone country album, “F-1 Trillion,” due Friday, Aug. 16, according to the Tennessean .

The genre-hopping Malone, who broke out with the 2015 hip-hop hit “White Iverson,” recently dropped the country crossovers “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen and “Pour Me A Drink” with Blake Shelton.

Combs' shows at MetLife are part of his “Growin' Up and Gettin' Old” tour. Music starts at 5:45 p.m., and Combs is scheduled to hit the stage at 9 p.m.

The tour began with shows on April 12 and 13 in Milwaukee.

“We got an opportunity to do two shows in some U.S. markets on the world tour, but when I found out we were going to be able to do two shows for most all of the cities ... I decided I wanted each show to have their own unique set up of openers, as well as my own unique setlist,” Combs said in a statement. “I thought this would give people an opportunity to come to both nights if they want, but see two completely different shows.”

Cody Jinks, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters, and Wilder Blue perform Friday at MetLife; Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker, and Colby Acuff on Saturday.

So far, no surprise guests have joined Combs on stage. But how about a Post Malone guest appearance in the swamps of Jersey? Combs' rep had no reply when asked if that was a possibility.

In the words of Combs on a July 10 Instagram audio post of a “Guy for That” snippet, “We doin' this or what”?

Go : Luke Combs, 5:45 p.m. Friday, July 19, with Cody Jinks, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters, and Wilder Blue, and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, July 20, with Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker, and Colby Acuff, MetLife Stadium, One MetLife Stadium Drive, East Rutherford, tickets start at $99.50; metlifestadium.com.

Shane Lowry makes adventurous double bogey at Railway hole, still leads The British Open Championship

Change Text Size

The Open Championship is supposed to be a stress test, a constant battle with the elements and tricky undulations, pot bunkers and possibly disaster lingering on every hole. Through 28 holes of this year’s Open, Shane Lowry managed to avoid almost any issue that would raise your blood pressure.

Then Lowry, 2-under for the day and 7-under for the tournament, arrived at the famous Railway 11th hole at Royal Troon. He felt enough stress for a full round on the 488-yard par-4, which took him nearly 45 minutes to play. He arrived at the tee with a two-shot lead. It was gone when he left the green.

Lowry’s drive missed right and settled in heavy fescue that borders the property line. Lowry took a mighty lash at the ball, but the club face completely closed as it went through the fescue, sending his shot tumbling into the gorse that lines the left side of the fairway.

Lowry hit a provisional, which remarkably found the green and set up a manageable bogey putt of about 10 feet. But as he walked toward the green, a spectator found Lowry’s first ball. Under the Rules of Golf, once the ball is found, Lowry must play it, forcing the 2019 Open champion to abandon the provisional and head for the gorse.

“I did the hard part. I hit my drive where you could find it, which is obviously a hard thing to do on that hole. I did a nice lie in the rough. I got a little bit distracted on the right just as I was over the shot, and I kind of lost a bit of train of thought,” Lowry said, referencing a cameraman that was in his vision just a few yards away.

“You're so afraid of going right there that I just snagged the club and went left. Then from there, I hit a great provisional. The referee asked me going down, did I want to find my first one, and I said no. So I assumed that was okay. Then we get down there, and somebody had found it. So apparently we have to find it then, or you have to go and identify it, which I thought, if you declared it lost before it was found, that you didn't, you didn't have to go and identify it.”

That’s when the fun began. It took more than 20 minutes to sort out Lowry’s next shot as he sought the opinion of multiple rules officials. Lowry opted not to hit his ball from the gorse bushes, instead taking an unplayable that moved him back along a narrow pedestrian pathway. Lowry did not hit the green with his approach from just under 60 yards, but he got up-and-down from just below the putting surface to escape with a double.

“I felt like through that whole process of that 20 minutes, it was whatever it was, of taking the drop, seeing where I could drop, and I felt like I was very calm and composed and really knew that I was doing the right thing, and I felt like Darren (his caddie) did a great job too just kind of – he kept telling me, we have loads of time. We don't need to rush this. We just need to do the right thing here,” Lowry said.

“To be honest, I was happy enough leaving there with a 6. It was not like – it wasn't a disaster. I was still leading the tournament.”

Shane Lowry's excellent tee shot yields birdie at The Open

If there’s a hole to survive a disaster, it would be the 11th, which has played as the toughest on the course this week. Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods doubled it on Thursday. Matt Fitzpatrick tripled it on Friday.

It claimed The Open leader, who dropped to 5-under, but he didn’t let it sink him. Lowry responded with a pivotal par at No. 12 and birdied the 16th and 18th to jump back to 7-under. Lowry was the clubhouse leader when he finished, which he expected to hold up given the difficult conditions.

“I think I'm ready to take what comes, take what's given to me out there. Almost ready for – anything that's thrown at me, I feel like I'm ready to take it on the chin and move on. I just have to deal with it and try and make the best of it and see where it leads me.
