Four Seasons is a challenging par 70 mature golf course, perfect for any player. The course opened for play in 1962 and adapted the name “Four Seasons Golf Course” in March 1983. In November 1989, East Hempfield Township purchased the golf course and has continually made improving the golf course a top priority.

The work and improvements to the Four Seasons Golf Club never stop. Under our Golf Course Superintendent’s direction, the course is consistently well-maintained. It isn’t surprising that we are known as one of the finest public golf courses in Lancaster County.

Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts are one of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, with over 100 properties in more than 40 countries. In my opinion, the best Four Seasons hotel in the world is the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat , a Four Seasons hotel. We return every year and visited just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately this gorgeous hotel is not connected to a golf course so did not make it into our top 10.

Wherever you are in the world, Four Seasons hotels are consistently one of the best hotels in that city or resort. There isn’t a Four Seasons loyalty program , so you will never be able to book a free stay by racking up and redeeming points, or by collecting points on your credit card and spending them on a Four Seasons hotel stay. It can’t be done. But you can get discounts at Four Seasons hotels and benefit from special gifts and benefits at Four Seasons hotels for no extra cost by booking your next stay via our luxury travel concierge .

I am unashamedly picking all the Four Seasons hotels on the Hawaiian Islands as the very best Four Seasons hotels for playing golf. Hawaii offers one of the world’s most westernized and sanitized tropical resort locations. Staying on these islands is comparatively free from worry. Unlike other tropical destinations around the world where diseases and mosquitos are rife, Hawaii avoids almost all of these problems, making it the perfect sunshine destination whenever you want to visit.

Four Seasons Lanai Hawaii is one of the best Four Seasons in North America . It offers a true escape on a billionaire’s private island. Larry Ellison’s to be exact. This Four Seasons on Lanai features in our best Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii . You will not find more beautiful or more remote, empty beaches anywhere in the world than the Four Seasons Lanai.

Golf here is epic, and a shot of the golf course is pictured above. Built on lava outcroppings, this Jack Nicklaus signature course features three holes perched on cliffs, enlisting the Pacific Ocean as a water hazard. Even better, effective July 1, 2022 guests can utilize a set of complimentary Titleist or PXG clubs while playing the Signature Jack Nicklaus 18-hole course. The selection includes men’s, women’s and senior’s right and left-handed sets.

In second place is Four Seasons Hualalai, which offers a tropical beach complete with magical sea turtles, a pool you can snorkel in which is full of fish, a stunning array of pools, bars, and restaurants and a world-class golf course. I particularly like the open-air bathrooms at this hotel (tip: you need to book a ground floor room to experience these).

The hotel itself is perched on dramatic blackened lava from the Volcano. The entire low-rise complex is dotted with palm trees and it has a long, private beach. The mix of warm sand, deep blue Pacific waters, lush green tropical foliage, and flowers means that the setting can only be described as breathtaking.

The golf course is also out of this world. Set along lava-rock fields, this Jack Nicklaus–designed course is a feast for all your senses as you play a 7,100 yard course that challenges and excites.

Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita is situated on the east coast of Mauritius, lapped by turquoise waters perfect for water sports. This relaxing Resort is filled with lush greenery and dramatic views everywhere you turn, from vibrant, tropical gardens to the exclusive Four Seasons Beach on Ile aux Cerfs.

Each stylish villa and residence features its own private garden and pool. After exploring the Indian Ocean or playing golf on their Ernie Els–designed course or Bernhard Langer signature course, unwind at the award-winning Spa and raise a glass at one of their exciting dining venues.

On the Resort’s Ernie Els–designed course, golf is unlimited and complimentary so that you can replay the six stunning front holes to your heart’s content.

With a prime location on the Pacific coast, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita celebrates the rich culture of Mexico one epic sunset at a time. Reconnect with family and friends; Their “mi-casa, su casa” attitude invites you to feel the true spirit of Mexican hospitality.

Golf wise, enjoy two Jack Nicklaus–designed courses featuring panoramic views of Bahía de Banderas and the famed “Tail of the Whale” – the world’s only natural island green.

In at number five is the Four Seasons Whistler in Canada. If you want to ski at a Four Seasons, you will find this ski in ski out four Seasons hard to beat! Actually, I tell a slight lie, the Four Seasons Megeve is also pretty mindblowing and depending on which side of the pond you are based, this is another fabulous choice. Both hotels feature in our best for seasons for skiing .

I love this Whistler hotel because it is easy to get to, around a two-hour scenic drive from Vancouver airport. This Four Seasons is also excellent for golf. Four Seasons Resort Whistler offers access to three world-class golf courses designed by such legends as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Robert Cupp.

Less than two miles from the Resort, the 18-hole, par-71 Nicklaus North Golf Course runs along the valley floor, boasting spectacular views of snow-capped peaks backing an emerald lake ringed by fir trees.

Whistler golf club is designed by Arnold Palmer. Mountains surround this walkable, championship 18-hole course. It’s .6 of a mile from the Resort, making it easy to fit in a round or two between other activities.

Finally, Whistler’s top-ranked golf course by Score Golf is Big Sky Golf And Country Club. This 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Robert Cupp sits at the base of Mount Currie in stunning Pemberton Valley.

While you may think of this resort as an exclusive destination for access to Disney, there is so much more to this hotel. Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort is literally 300 yards from the golf course. The Resort’s Tranquilo Golf Club was designed by Tom Fazio and is also an Audubon sanctuary replete with shimmering wetlands. The hospitality of Four Seasons extends to the course with complimentary bottled water and fruit, along with Titleist Pro V1 golf balls at the driving range, the best quality range balls you can get.

Just 25 miles south of Four Seasons Hotel Denver, The Ridge at Castle Pines North is an immaculately manicured course designed by Tom Weiskopf, and you can see Pikes Peak, Devil’s Head and Mount Evans from the green. In the winter, herds of elk often frequent the course.

Troon North Golf Club is just minutes from Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. These are probably the best desert golf courses you’ll see in the Southwest or anywhere in the world. Typically, endless desert vistas extend on both sides of the holes, with huge rocks and distinct elevation changes. Here the golf carts have GPS that will give you exact yardage to the pin. Or you can order off the food and beverage menu and have it delivered to your exact location.

We recently visited and reviewed the fabulous Four Seasons Costa Rica At Peninsula Papagayo . Ranked among the “Top 100 Courses Outside the United States” by Golf Digest, golf here is excellent with an Arnold Palmer–designed course pairing dramatic elevation changes with stunning views of Bahía de Culebra. Play among the chatter of monkeys from the surrounding, emerald-green forests.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus over lava outcrops and dramatic cliff-tops, the Manele Bay Golf Course at Four Seasons Lanai is a fantastic golf course available exclusively to Resort guests. Manele Bay opened in 1996, with a par of 72 and a course length of 7,039 Yards / 6,637 Metres. Three of the golf holes incorporate the Pacific Ocean into their layouts so that the course is one of the very few in Hawaii to use the ocean in its design rather than as a scenic backdrop. The golf carts have GPS tracking with the latest technology, and the rental equipment from the Pro Shop is guaranteed to be premium.

The Course at Manele Bay has seen many legends including non-golfing celebrities. Bill Gates got married on the 12 th hole, which means that the course is truly amazing, if not for the red cliffs plunging down into the sea, then for the lava outcrops that frame the golf holes. Ravines, greenside bunkers and disastrous runoff areas are sure to wreak havoc if it is windy, but Manele Bay is a golf course that will generate smile after smile for each golfer fortunate enough to play.

ONE FORTY American Steak, Hawaiian Seafood

Open for breakfast and dinner, ONE FORTY offers hearty meals to please. With its menu filled with cuts of prime and Wagyu beef, as well as seasonal Hawaiian fish grilled to perfection, golfers who have a taste for the sublime are sure to be excited. All dishes are accompanied with traditional side dishes, but it is the extensive wine list that is most talked about.

Ideal for a post-round meal, Views restaurant is located in Manele Golf Course’s clubhouse and offers 180-degree views of the ocean. With a vibrant selection of salads, appetizers and wraps the pre-golf or post-golf meal will boost your game with the right nutrients; or skip the golf altogether and go for the house-made ice-cream sandwich!

Sports Bar & Grill

An open-air bar allows you to mingle without sound bouncing off the walls. Catch-up over a game of pool or watch your favourite sports team on the 90-inch TV with classic bar dishes from the grill. Hand-rolled pastas and appetizers made specially for sharing will get your taste-buds dancing. The bar is open from 11AM to 11PM daily.

Malibu Farm Bar

The ideal spot for a pre-dinner or post-dinner drink, the Malibu Farm bar offers classic Hawaiian pupus, handcrafted tropical cocktails, local beers and an extensive wine list that showcases the bold flavours of Lanai. The Manele Bay clubhouse houses the Views restaurant with splendorous Lanai views over the island and golf course (cuisine description above). The Golf Shop, located in the clubhouse, stocks a wide range of apparel, gifts and accessories for the golf lover and non-golfer alike. The Resort offers private instruction with one-on-one lessons, and it uses the latest Trackman technology to enable you to discover the importance and advantage of receiving instant and actionable feedback on club delivery, launch, ball flight and landing. Every Wednesday afternoon, the Manele Bay Golf Driving Range transforms into Mini-Manele, offering guests a complimentary, six-hole, par-3 course right on the world-class practice facilities.

There is a central pool overlooking Hulopoe Bay with dense foliage creating a private ambience fit for the genteel guests. There are private cabana-style sanctuaries nestled in the foliage around the pool gardens to enjoy your mornings and afternoons. Another lagoon-style pool with a waterfall is available to guests looking to leave the central location and enjoy a contemplative swim overlooking the ocean.

Hawanawana Spa

Drawing Inspiration from the healing powers of the ocean, this island spa is open from 8.30 AM to 8PM daily. Four Seasons Lanai has two outdoor Plexipave cushion courts or numerous Har-Tru Green Clay courts at the tennis centre. Expertly managed by world-renowned Peter Burwash International and on-site tennis pros, you are sure to have unending fun on the courts.

How to Get There

Lanai is a very small island with an even smaller airport. Those coming from afar will need to travel via plane from Honolulu to the airport at Lanai, before getting a 10-mile shuttle to the Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay. There is also the Maui-Lanai Expeditions Ferry which departs five times a day from Lahaina, reaching Manele Bay on Lanai in 45-minutes. This is a fantastic scenic way to approach the island of Lanai.

Four Seasons Golf Club Review

Four Seasons Golf Club  is located in Landisville, PA. The course location is situated a couple of miles from downtown Lancaster City. Playing as a par 71 at 6,337 yards with a course rating of 69.6 and a slope rating of 120.

Four Seasons Golf Club History

Designed by Dick Funk, the East Hempfield Township golf course opened in 1962. It wasn’t until 1983 that the course adopted the name Four Seasons Golf Course. In November 1989, East Hempfield Township purchased the golf course and continually improved the golf course. In the last couple of years there has been uncertainty about the course staying open or being sold to a developer. Thankfully Four Seasons seems to be in a good place right now!

Four Seasons Golf Club Features

Four Seasons Golf Club has a tiny pro shop, putting green, and 1 driving range but unfortunately it isn’t usable. In 2020 the Blue Collar Restaurant, Bar & Catering was added, a perfect spot for an after-round meal!

Four Seasons Golf Club Rating

Although Four Seasons is a local course for me, I don’t play it as much as I would like.  That being said, it is a charming municipal course. It always makes my heart happy when municipal courses are kept in great shape. We have too many that just get left for dead in this country. 

Course Design –    ★★½

Four Seasons has a very well similar design to other courses in America. You play a hole out and then turn around and play a hole coming back. However, this course does have great par 5 holes that break up that pattern.

Par-3’s:  Have fun! These holes will be a struggle to score on. They are 3 longer par 3’s and one medium length par 3. These were great holes that really tested your iron ball-striking.

Par-4’s:  The Par 4’s can get a little stale after multiple rounds. The variety isn’t exciting. Hole #15 will be the most unique par 4 hole. Most of the other hole are straight out and doesn’t have much elevation change.

Par-5’s:  This is where I think Four Seasons really comes alive. The Par 5’s are fantastic. You start with #3 , the “warm-up” par 5 hole, that plays very straight. At the MONSTER Hole #14 at 569 yards, you have an elevated tee shot down to the fairway, and then you will have an uphill approach to the green, which is very unique. Then don’t forget about #17 , the closing par 5 with a creek that splits the fairway and is a beautiful hole. 

Course Difficulty –    ★★★

The course has an average difficulty level. We discussed the lack of Par 4 hole variety, making it more accessible. Some of the par 4 holes are easy-scoring holes. The most challenging thing about playing Four Seasons is the rough. It is very thick, and if you are not careful, you will lose a ball just off the fairway or catch one fat. Make sure to try to keep that ball in the fairway! 

Course Amenities & Price –    ★★★

Pricing is average for Lancaster County and the surrounding areas. You can check the current  Tee Times here ! Course Amenities are lacking a bit, they have a tiny putting green, and they don’t allow chipping. From what I hear, they have a driving range, but it isn’t very useful if usable at all. 

Above the pro shop, there is a restaurant/bar that opened in 2020! We found the  Blue Collar Restaurant  on Instagram and they are very active and make it look like a great place to go for dinner or after a round of 18! I would say a  4.5-star rating on Google warrants a visit very soon!

That space above the pro shop used to be empty so good on them for adding something to the building. Golf courses that have restaurants on site are a huge perk, and that’s something that you don’t see too much with a municipal golf course. 

Course Conditions-  ★★

Course conditions are usually good. The tee boxes and greens are really nice. The greens tend to be slower, but that is to be expected of a muni course. The rough is the concerning part for me. It felt a little long. I played multiple times in the spring, so the grass was thick, and it was tough to find my ball. If I did find my ball, it was DEEP and hard to get out.

I know it’s called rough and meant to punish you… However, this is a muni course, and there are a lot of beginners out there. That rough makes it very hard for them to find the love for the game because it can become a little frustrating.
