Be very cautious on their "2 week 100% fully refundable deposit. " We cancelled to book with another tour. They keep making excuses on why months later they haven't been able to provide my refund. Maybe they are keeping the money to keep up with the large lawsuit they lost. Wish I would have known about what a terrible company this was before I trusted their "guarantee." Stay away from EF Tours. There are many more reputable companies.

Our 2022 Transparency Report has landed

Service and helping others..

This is my 4th tour with EF, third with students, and EF continues to provide an exemplary experience. On the rare occasion there is an issue, the EF tour guide, who is with us the entire trip works to make sure that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible. I love working with a respectable company that values local resources and uses local businesses that choose to help others over just looking at the dollar (like the zip lining place in the Dominical Republic that uses its profits for medical care for the local community). I want more of this in my life! Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you had a great time on your trip and that our tour guide is always able to resolve any issues that arise. We are committed to providing immersive, life-changing education to students and we are glad that we could help you have a memorable experience. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to traveling with you again soon!

Off we go!!

Off we go!! My tour person Kaitlyn has truly been invaluable. She's answers my 5 million questions, provided me with documents, even obscure ones I didn't think she would have, given me a powerpoint, and worked with me until the very last minute! She is just as excited for my students to take this trip as I am! The site the parents use to sign up is easy to navigate, I have not had one parent reach out for assistance. I'm so excited to be able to give my students this opportunity! Thank you EFT!

My experience with EF Tours was safe, loaded with content, and fun

My experience with EF Tours was absolutely fantastic! Their commitment to safety was evident throughout the trip, which made my students feel secure and well-cared for. The tour guides were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly positive and enthusiastic, which added a lot to the overall experience. My fellow group leaders and I were most impressed with how EF balanced educational content with fun activities, ensuring that our students and adults on the trip had a great time while still learning a lot. Our journey was filled with memorable moments and experiences that our students and adult travelers will be able to cherish forever. I would highly recommend EF Tours to anyone looking for a safe, educational, and enjoyable travel experience!

TRAVEL! see the world!

We had a wonderful experience with EF tours, from day 1 to the return of our son from Costa Rica. Paying every 2 weeks for a year made the expense small to us, and the app was wonderful to know what our son was doing each day. Can't recommend this enough to others to give their kids the experience of international travel - our entire family has another trip planned this summer - reminding us what is important - TRAVEL! see the world!

Great life experience

Really good event, education was great, interaction and learning about cultural differences was great, tour guides were great. The only issue we had was the return flight not allowing enough time in customs. Our kid was able to get on their connecting flight OK, but 5 persons had to find another connecting flight. Not sure if that was a EF tours glitch or a glitch with the airlines.

Date of experience : January 03, 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you had a great time on your trip and that you enjoyed the educational and cultural experiences, as well as the tour guides. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the return flight and we share the feedback with our team.

Tour guide was great but paperwork earlier please

My son had nothing but glowing things to say about Vietnam representative Hy (sp?) while on his trip. My only piece of constructive feedback is related to the Visa. Whether it was our teachers or EF Tours that gave us the date to apply for Visas, we were too late and many of us had to fill out expedited applications the night before. So stressful!

Date of experience : January 09, 2024

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. It’s great to hear that your son had a wonderful experience on the trip and that the Vietnam representative Hy was exceptional. However, we regret to hear that you had a stressful experience with the visa application deadline. We understand that obtaining visas can be a complex and time-consuming process. Your feedback on this is appreciated and will be shared with our team. If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to reach out and our team will be happy to help.

EF Tours is giving me the run around

EF Tours is giving me the run around. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my son's trip, due to severe health issues that he is having and he now cannot travel. I cancelled the trip on November 14, 2023. I was told I would recieve my refund in 4-6 weeks. When I did not, I contacted them again. I was told, after 7 weeks of waiting, "So sorry. For some your refund was never processed. You should get it now in 1-2 weeks." 2 weeks went by and nothing. Contacted them again. This time I was told, "So sorry, we are updating our billing system and it is holding up the refunds. You will receive your refund the week of January 21, 2024. That week came and went. Still no refund. Contacted them AGAIN! Once again, I am told, "We are so sorry. We are updating to a faster system, ironically, to process returns faster. You will recieve a check in the mail beginning to middle of next week." Guess what?!?! STILL NO CHECK!!!! With having to deal with my son's medical issues right now and missing a lot of work, I really do not need to be dealing with this right now too.

BEST Tour Consultant at EF!

My tour consultant, Madison Furnas, is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I have never felt pressured into booking any tours, experience, etc., and she has never felt like she was "selling" me anything but genuinely wanted to get to know me, the students I serve, the community, and how we can both collaborate. She is very responsive, empathetic, and understanding. She answers all of my questions and if she doesn't know the answer -- will always find it or connect me to the best person! She makes working with EF Tours an absolute dream.

The best trip ever!!

This was the most amazing and worry free experience I was able to share with my daughter. Everything was extremely organized-from the flights, meals, and transportation to and from the various sites we visited. The tour guides were exceptionally engaging and knowledgeable. This Greece and Italy trip was life changing and I look forward to our next trip with EF tours. Thank you.

EF Educational Tours provided a 5 STAR experience from start to finish. The enrollment process was simple. Once in a lifetime

This was an amazing experience to travel with peers and trusted educators from our small, rural school. There was an incredible mix of cultural experiences and physical challenges for those who wanted to take advantage of the full opportunity this tour had to offer. The Dominican Republic offered a diverse experience with its varied terrain, small villages, and urban areas- from Latin dancing to surfing!

Great trip to Spain

I participated as a parent chaperon and got to see first hand what a great experience EF put togehter. First, you get your money's worth and then some. The week in Spain was worth at least a semester of class. EF made it easy to do, all of our guides and our director were friendly and knowledgable. I felt that every aspect was safe and secure. The balance between guided tour time and discovery time was perfect.

Date of experience : January 21, 2024

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Michael! It's great to hear you had a wonderful time on tour while finding it educational. We're also glad to hear you found the process to be easy and our staff to be friendly! Thank you again for sharing and for being part of the EF Tours family.

More support needed

I don't like that I have had to ask for everything thus far. I thought there were training packages that would take all the questions away. I finally received the ability to see the group today, but due to the previous fail and cancellation of the tour and upset parents, I needed everything asap to return confidence.

Date of experience : January 22, 2024

We regret to hear you have not had an excellent experience thus far. We will share your feedback with your EF team so they can adjust the information and communication as needed. Your feedback is valuable as we seek to continuously improve our tours. Thank you for sharing.

EF Tours Made Traveling the World Easy

EF Tours made traveling easy and accessible for my students and me. The thoroughness and details of each aspect of the trip allowed us to really enjoy ourselves and not have to plan and worry about timing or what to do next. We got to see and explore so much all along the way, and our tour guides were all about tailoring the experiences to our liking. We can't wait to do another trip with EF!

No refunds for date conflicts

I recently booked a trip with EF with a college group. I’m not a student, but I’ve been multiple times with a certain college. I’ve never had issues before, but that’s because I’ve never had a date conflict. Fast forward 4 months after booking the trip, and my son commits to the Air Force. That means he leaves while we would be away on the trip. Not a single parent would go on this trip while their son is leaving for the military. When we had to cancel the trip, we got absolutely nothing back for the date conflict. Between my husband and I l, we lost over $1500. That’s a LOT of money for nothing. They charged us a late fee, a travel protection fee, cancellation fee, and an enrollment fee. This left us apparently no refund of our hard-earned money. I don’t recommend using them or their travel protection, because your trip is not backed unless there is a death. Update since EF responded. I have never went on an EF go ahead tour. I am speaking directly about the educational tours as stated above. College students beware that date conflicts mean no money back.

Let’s do it again!

The best thing I can say about my son’s recent trip with EF Educational Tours is that he wants to go again! He also would us to enjoy the trip and join him the next time he goes! Teenagers are very critical about events and for him to make those comments speaks volumes regarding how the trip was conducted! Well done EF Educational Tours!!

EF Go Ahead Tours Review 2024: Are their guided tours worth it?

EF Go Ahead Tours Review 2024: Are their guided tours worth it?

EF Go Ahead Tours is a world-leading guided tour company offering a comprehensive travel package with local guides and authentic travel experiences. You've likely heard of them before, but are they really worth it? What do they offer, and how do they stack up to other guided tours?

edf tours

Raeesha is an expert freelance writer who loves to tap into unique perspectives about heritage, art, wildlife, and outdoor adventures. Coming from a country famed for tourism, she also focuses on promoting sustainable travel choices to minimize environmental footprint. Besides the travel niche, she also writes about economics, business, and linguistics. You will find her guides informative and detailed, albeit with a pinch of dry humor.

Guided tours are a great way to travel, make new friends, and enjoy new experiences without the hassle of planning the logistics of the trip.

While guided tour companies boast of convenience, they tend to fall short when it comes to flexibility and customization. Hence, many travelers resort to planning their trips by themselves using helpful apps like  Pilot .

But, if you still prefer a guided tour with some level of flexibility, EF Go Ahead Tours is definitely a choice to consider.

EF Go Ahead Tours is one of the world's largest tour companies that host small group tours with unique, authentic experiences. A great benefit of joining an EF Go Ahead Tour is that they allow travelers the benefits of hosting a free private tour with larger groups.

However, are the experiences they're offering for you? What are the pros and cons? Here's our review of EF Go Ahead Tours!

EF Go Ahead Tours Logo.

What is EF Go Ahead Tours?

EF Go Ahead Tours  is a brand under the EF Tours group that offers both guided and fully customizable tours to destinations worldwide. It caters to young and older travelers, admitting anyone from age six and above (under-age travelers accompanied by adults). The number of travelers in each group is capped at 14-38, and small group tours only admit 10-22 people.

EF Go Ahead Tours aims to provide you with meaningful tours with flexibility and personalization. It also promotes responsible travel by supporting local communities and adopting sustainable practices.

EF Go Ahead Tours mobile app helps you easily manage your bookings and view tour details. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.

What does EF Go Ahead Tours offer?

  • Tour directors and local guides:  A tour director is assigned for each group to be in charge of all logistics of the trip. They will accompany you throughout, sharing insider knowledge and background information about places you visit.
  • Accommodation:  3-4 star hotels that provide comfortable amenities while being located in close proximity to the city.
  • Meals:  Breakfast and some other meals are included in the pricing. Primarily, they focus on local food and beverage specialties. They will arrange meals meeting your dietary requirements if necessary.
  • Transportation:  Transport between airport and hotels and other transportation required during the trip are included in the package. While flights are not included, you can get EF Go Ahead Tours to arrange them for you at an additional cost.

EF Go Ahead tour benefits.

How does EF Go Ahead Tours work?

You can browse for tours by  Destination  or  Travel Styles  on the website. Travel styles are further categorized as  Trip Type, Interests, Seasonal and Special Events , and  With Your Own Group .

For example, all the related tours will appear if we pick Adventure Tours under travel styles. You can filter the results further by destination, dates, duration, price, and travel style.

Check out its details, trip highlights, prices, reviews, etc. There's a list of FAQs below related to the trip and other similar tours for you to compare and choose from.

What destinations does EF Go Ahead Tours cover?

EF Go Ahead Tours covers many of the popular destinations worldwide. Here's a list of where EF Go Ahead Tours covers:

  • Europe:  Ireland, Italy, Greece, Iceland, England, France, and Germany
  • The Americas:  United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, and Belize
  • Africa & Middle East:  Egypt, Kenya, Israel, South Africa, Turkey, and United Arab Emirates
  • Australia & Asia:  Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, India, and Thailand

Benefits of EF Go Ahead Tours

  • Worry-free guarantee

If you cancel the booking within 60 days from the reservation date, you are entitled to a full refund. EF Go Ahead Tours also allows you to change the date of tour or destination up until your final payment day. It helps you book with confidence knowing there's ample time to make changes.

In addition to covering many destinations worldwide, the tour company also offers a diverse range of tours. Group trips for solo travelers provide ample privacy while facilitating socialization. In addition, there are cruise tours, rail tours, food & wine tours, battlefield tours, winter tours, and many more!

  • Fewer people

The worrisome factor about large group tours is they can seem too crowded and noisy to have a quality experience. There's also less opportunity to get to know other travelers better. In this case, small group tours offer a more intimate travel experience. Guides can give individual attention and advice easily. Overall, it makes the trip more enjoyable and memorable.

  • Flexibility

If you like to travel with friends but don't have the liberty to plan, get EF Go Ahead Tours to plan one for you. You can explain your requirements and get a whole new itinerary done or choose one they offer. Invite your friends and/or family, choose your travel dates, and enjoy. There's also the option of organizing faith-based tours!

Adventure travel experiences.

Drawbacks of EF Go Ahead Tours

  • Increase the number of tours

While there's a variety of tours, different trip options under each category are quite limited compared to other guided tour companies like  G Adventures  or  Contiki . For example, there's only one tour option for India. They can also add more countries to their list of destinations.

  • Improve refund and cancellation issues

Customers had faced refund and cancellation issues for scheduled or booked tours during the pandemic. There were complaints of EF Go Ahead Tours not refunding the money as per its cancellation policy. But, it's a common problem that many tour companies dealt with their customers following the Covid outbreak. We hope they are resolved now.

EF Go Ahead Tours vs. EF Ultimate Break

The most significant similarity between EF Go Ahead Tours and EF Ultimate Break is that they are managed by EF Education First Tours. This means that you'll most likely be getting a similar refund, cancellation, and customer service policies between the two tours.

EF Go Ahead Tours identifies itself as the 'older sibling' of EF Ultimate Break. Ultimate Break Tours is geared towards college students and folks aged 18-29, while Go Ahead Tours admits anyone 6 and above. So, the tours offered also tend to be different from each other.

EF Go Ahead Tours has a wide variety of tours catering to all age ranges. It also provides both private and group tours. EF Ultimate Break only offers group tours and are tailored to suit youth's preferences.

Is EF Go Ahead Tours worth it?

Yes! We came across great GoAheadTours reviews online about the unique and immersive experience EF Go Ahead Tours offers. Go Ahead tours are a great way to travel if you prefer to join a guided tour.

Like  Flash Pack , it's an excellent choice for older travelers looking for trips that involve activities beyond partying and drinking. Overall, the tours are ideal for anyone, really.

Our Rating: 4.5/5

  • Variety of tours
  • Smaller groups
  • A limited number of tours
  • Refund and cancellation issues

‘Let them back’: McIlroy’s wild U-turn complete as $2.2bn golf deal nears... but LIV question lingers

Rory McIlroy says PGA Tour triumphs at venues such as Pebble Beach and Riviera will be devalued in the absence of two-time major winner Jon Rahm and other star players following their defection to LIV Golf.

And the four-time major champion from Northern Ireland says it’s more important to complete a merger between LIV and PGA Tour than it is to sort out punishments for defectors to the Saudi-backed upstart circuit.

Speaking on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s start of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McIlroy was asked if wins at the California venues were cheapened without Rahm, Dustin Johnson and other top players who jumped to LIV.

“Yeah,” McIlroy said. “I’d like to win here and stand up with a trophy on 18 green and know that I’ve beaten all of the best players in the world, so yeah.”

McIlroy, who spoke of conversations with 2023 Ryder Cup teammates Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton before they signed with LIV Golf, said golf needs to reunite top players even if it delays sorting out any punishment for players who went to LIV but want to play future PGA Tour events.

“Life is about choices. Guys made choices to go and play LIV, guys made choices to stay here. If people still have eligibility on this tour and they want to come back and play, let them come back,” McIlroy said.

“It’s hard to punish people. I don’t think there should be a punishment -- obviously I’ve changed my tune on that because I see where golf is and I see that having a diminished PGA Tour and having a diminished LIV Tour or anything else is bad for both parties.”

Talks on a framework merger agreement between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV’s Saudi backers, the Public Investment Fund (PIF), have extended beyond a December 31 deadline in order to sort out a deal to please all sides in golf’s bitter civil war.

According to tour insiders Dan Rapaport and the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, a deal is now close to being done between the PGA Tour and a group of US billionaire investors SSG who it has also been negotiating with.

A deal could come as soon as Wednesday, according to Lewis, but it’s unclear whether or not it will include PIF as well.

The deal between the PGA Tour and SSG is reportedly worth about 1.5 billion (AUD$2.3bn).

Rapaport, however, reports that his sources have indicated that the PGA Tour is at the “finish line” with both SSG and PIF, which would likely increase the value of the deal.

Either way, McIlroy is eager for golf to re-unite as soon as possible.

“It would be much better being together and moving forward together for the good of the game,” McIlroy said. “The faster we can all get back together and start to play and start to have the strongest fields possible I think is great for golf.

“We’re potentially about to do a deal with PIF, who owned the large majority of LIV, and hopefully seeing things come back together here at some point.”

McIlroy removed himself from the PGA Tour Policy Board last year, needing to focus on his game instead of working on a merger deal.

“I just didn’t feel like I could influence things the way I wanted to,” he said. “I felt like I was just banging my head against the wall.”

Rory McIlroy says PGA Tour triumphs at venues such as Pebble Beach and Riviera will be devalued.

- The sooner the better -

McIlroy said a deal is near between the PGA Tour and Strategic Sports Group (SSG) that would see a $3 billion investment in the tour.

“I just hope they get it done,” McIlroy said. “They were supposed to vote on it Sunday night and there was a delay. They were supposed to vote on it last night and there was a delay.

“I feel like this thing could have been over and done with months ago. For all our sakes the sooner we sort of get out of it and have a path forward, the better.”

World number 16 Hatton jumped to LIV after talks with McIlroy about the move.

“Everyone needs to do with what’s right for them,” McIlroy said. “I had a long talk with Tyrrell on Sunday, completely understood where he was coming from.

“I’ve talked to him quite a bit about it over the past month. It got to the point where they negotiated and got to a place where he was comfortable with and he has to do what he feels is right for him.

“I’m not going to stand in anyone’s way from making money and if what they deem life-changing money, like absolutely.

“These are guys I respect and I’ve spent a lot of time with and if that’s what they feel is the best decision for them, then I’m going to be supportive of that decision.”
