One thing that you should have in mind while driving in Corfu Greece is that the routes are narrow and not straight, so the possibility of overtaking another vehicle seems unlikely.

My Favourite Corfu Stops

1. corfu old town.

• Corfu Food & Walking Tour is the best experience (3.3 hrs)
• Take in the views at Corfu Old Fortress 
• Sweet ‘N Spicy Bahar Shop to get Greek Spices
• Length of time to spend here: 2+ Hours

You cannot have a getaway to this Aegean Island without stopping by its capital.

 It is also one of the best places to pick up a hire car asides from the airport!

Corfu Old Town is a must-stop for so many other reasons- including its great connections to the rest of the island!  

This is where many locals will spend an evening or a weekend so there is always lots going on. My favourite thing to do here is to wander through the cobbled streets, taking in the Historic views. 

I hate getting lost (I do always blame Google Maps) but I would happily get lots here! 

You can’t help but be romanticised by every single street you walk down. I have visited a lot of Greek Old Towns and this is the most Magical Old Town.

 And the perfect stop for families and couples!

There are lots of amazing ways to spend a few hours or days exploring Corfu Old Town, but for the best time do a food tour. 

You will get to see all the sites and experience the best tastes of Greece with a local guide at the same time.

2. Corfu Town Harbour

• Book a boat tour
• Stop by Corfu Sailing Club Restaurant 
• Stroll through the gardens at Spianada Square
• Length of time to spend here: 30 Minutes +

The perfect place on your Greek Island Road Trip to stretch your legs, grab a drink and check out the local crafts (it also helps that it is incredibly pretty too!)

There is an amazing local driftwood shop in the area where you can buy locally crafted gifts that are great quality and not very expensive. 

It’s not just driftwood stuff here, I bought an amazing small souvenir here for 4 Euros.

While you are in the area, there is no better way to explore Corfu than by boat !

Especially if it includes an open bar, sightseeing and snorkelling (👇)

🚨 Parking for Corfu Old Town and Harbour: There are lots of spots that offer parking around Corfu Town . However, it can get super busy during the summer months so you will want to try and arrive early morning or late afternoon.

The best free Spot is behind the Old Fortress as it’s less busy than the other car parks. There are other options on the road towards the harbour too.

3. Paleokastritsa Monastery

• Take in the stunning views from the top
• Say hello to the adorable Donkey’s in the area
• Cool off at La Grotta Beach
• Length of time to spend here: 1+ Hour

If you want to see the most Breathtaking Views of the Corfu Coast, Add Paleokastritsa Monastery to your Corfu road trip itinerary.

 This is honestly my favourite stop when driving around Corfu because of its views and local beaches nearby 😍

The Monastery on the Hill showcases the rarest Byzantine holy books and other relics. 

Exploring Inside the monastery is like stepping back in Greek History and it is simply, beautiful.

Olive trees surround the Monastery so you can find products for sale here from their traditional olive oil press.

🚨 Important Information about Visiting Paleokastritsa Monastery :

✔️ This is a Religious place, acting respectfully and dressing appropriately is key.

✔️ You will only be allowed entry if your knees and shoulders/chest are covered. In the Summer Heat, this can be hard for the Ladies.

(They will kindly provide you with a skirt and shawl if you aren’t dressed for your visit)

✔️ A visit here is Free but there is a donation box on the way out. Please make a small donation to help keep the Monastery open.

4. Agios Georgios Beach

• Snorkel the clear waters (it’s a blue flag-rated beach – perfect for families)
• Rent Bikes to explore the area
• Grab a cocktail at San George Food Bar
• Length of time to spend here: 1 Hour +

Don’t miss out on the laid-back vibes of Agios Georgios Beach if you are spending a weekend or longer in Corfu.

 Tucked away on the northwest coast, this spot is a chill haven that should definitely make it to your itinerary.

 Parking is a breeze, with plenty of spots near the beach!

Once you hit the sand, soak in the chill atmosphere, soft golden shores, and clear blue waters of Agios Georgios. Whether you’re into water sports or just want to kick back with a cold drink, this place has you covered. 

Oh, and the sunsets? Legendary. 

5. Canal d’amour 

• Swim in the love canal (it’s meant to be lucky!)
• Explore the coast and find your own hidden beach
• Book a boat tour- they are best at sunset
• Length of time to spend here: 1 Hour 

You gotta swing by the charming Canal d’Amour – I missed it on my first trip and I’m still disappointed I did now!

 Parking’s easy here and you will find lots of spots, especially earlier in the day. 

This spot screams romance with its cosy coves, soft sand, and turquoise waters.

 And oh, the sunsets? Unreal. 

It’s the perfect spot for couples or anyone wanting a slice of Corfu’s dreamy side. I Highly encourage anyone to book a sunset cruise here!

• Relax at Road Beach (One of my favourites on the Island!)
• Grab a drink at The Boathouse Bar & Cocktails
• Visit Sant Goerge church and Temple of Apollo
• Length of time to spend here: 2 Hours 

Roda is a pretty Greek Village that is becoming an increasingly popular place to stay.

With its warm turquoise waters and laid-back atmosphere, I loved my visit here!

But the main reason you should stop by here when exploring Corfu by road is because of its wonderful beach. 

I went with my sister and we loved that you could walk through its waters and not see it getting deeper for ages!

Waters this shallow are pretty safe which allows you to take in the incredible views and make it great for anyone exploring with Kids.

7. Kassiopi

• Explore the ruins of Kassiopi Castle
• Spend time at Kassiopi Beach- ideal for swimming and snorkelling
• Watch the traditional Greek dancing at Kostas Bar 

The laid-back charm of Kassiopi got me good– it’s a spot that’s got it all. 

This gem boasts a mix of chill vibes, historical charm, and coastal beauty. 

You can easily spend a day here strolling through the village’s quaint streets, grabbing a bite at a local taverna, and soaking in the Mediterranean atmosphere.

 Kassiopi’s coastline is also dotted with secluded coves and crystal-clear waters, perfect for a dip or some laid-back sunbathing

8. Benitses

Only 12 km from Corfu’s old town is the tranquil village of Benitses. This is where my parents stay every time they visit Corfu (which is usually twice a year).

This village is an amazing way to see traditional Greek Island life away from the crowds as it is not the most popular destination for tourists.

 I have stayed here twice now and I am always discovering something new about the Island when I do!

Visiting here is a great way to relax on the Sandy Beaches and watch the Local fishermen catch their Lunch. You just have to walk along the beachfront at midday to see the village in action!

There are some lovely Restaurants and bars which are perfect for Families, Couples and anyone else who just wants to relax.

I highly recommend visiting Oi Oraies Benitses for basically anything involving honey, feta and Filo pastry!

So If you want to embrace Greece with its locals and have great places to eat, drink and swim, I do recommend staying here for at least one night on any road trip through Corfu.

How many days do you need in corfu.

Exploring the Island on your Own Corfu Road Trip means you can see as much as you want in a small timescale.

 You can easily see the Island’s Highlights and have some Beach Time in 3 days.

But if you have a small budget or are using Corfu as a quick stopover, a one-day itinerary is easy to do and you can see a good amount!

I have travelled around Corfu in a few hours and it’s a great way to get a taste of the Island. 

It is doable but if you want to make the most of the stops, you may want to hire a car for at least 2 days.

How long does it take to drive around Corfu?

The total length of Corfu island is 64km/39 miles, making it super easy to see the highlights of the island in a short amount of time.

For a more relaxed experience, take 2-4 days to drink in everything Charming Corfu has to offer .

Do you need a Car in Corfu?

Corfu has a pretty good Bus service so technically, No.

But it will take you a long time to explore the Island if you don’t rent a car. And Corfu has only recently got Uber !

Renting a car works out cheaper, and quicker and allows you to see so much more of Corfu, especially if you aren’t travelling alone.

It is also a good idea to rent a car if you are staying in places like Sidari as it works out a lot cheaper!

(But if you aren’t comfortable Renting a Car, you can still do this route using Public Transport)

Is driving in Corfu Easy/ Safe?

Even with its winding and narrow roads, driving in Corfu is pretty easy and safe.

The traffic isn’t hectic even in Corfu town and every route has lots of signposts making it super easy to find Corfu Hot spots.

You can also really easily reach Corfu by car from the UK and other parts of Europe!

Just make sure you take extra care when driving routes (especially in the mountains)and don’t cut corners.

This may NEVER happen to you but be aware, your car may cut out due to the hot temperatures. This happened to my parents when driving towards Paleokastritsa on their last trip 😳

Luckily there were lots of helping hands and they were back on the road in no time.

Corfu is without a doubt one of the most stunning Greek Islands you can visit pretty much any time of the year!

It’s a really popular place to visit because of its laid-back atmosphere and even though it has high levels of tourists during the summer months, it doesn’t feel like it when you are there.

It is also fairly easy to explore the Island by public transport, so you can even follow this road trip itinerary by taxi, bus or private transfer. However, I will always recommend hiring a car when visiting Corfu, even just for the day.

Not only does it usually work out a lot cheaper, but you can visit many of the hidden beaches, coves and other attractions only accessible by car.

Just remember you can’t drink the tap water here so make use of your rental car and stock up!

Open your eyes to the sun-kissed Ionian island of Corfu, Greece. Not one to shy away, Corfu makes good use of its natural resources: voluptuous mountains, fertile lands, and passion-fuelled traditions. In doing so, it's flirted with, and won over many a visitor from Homer's Odysseus to the Durrells. An intuitive start to any Corfu road trip, Corfu Town is just minutes from the airport and car rental pick-up stations. Grab a bite to eat at one of the city's thriving cafes before setting off on your island adventure. Liston Square is a good place for lunch, and among one of the trendiest spots in town when it comes to casually sipping on a coffee and people watching (a favorite Greek past time). Though parking is available adjacent to the square, spots fill up fast. Instead, try the public, and often free-of-charge car park near the new port. Even when a fee is tacked on, daily rates are around 3 Euros. The heart of the city can be reached by foot in under ten minutes, and Liston Square in half that time from this parking lot.

Allow yourself enough time to take in the sights, including the port, new and old fortresses, and mix of Greco-Roman-Franco architecture - without neglecting the rest that this island paradise has to offer.

Ready to go? First stop, Agios Matthaios, is a 40-minute trek southwards through mountain communities characterized by their breathtaking views.

Agios Matthaios

In the late-afternoon heat, Agios Matthaios (Agios Mattheos in some translations online) is every bit the somnolent Grecian town as one might hope to find. Untouched by tourism, it moves to the beat of its own drum, setting a slow albeit steady pace. Park next to the church perched atop the mountain-side village and follow the inlaid stone paths to make your descent on foot. Enjoy the varying architecture and the scent of home cooking in the air. In mere moments, the mountain laneways give way to a bustling main street. As the sun heads west overhead, this stretch of road welcomes farmers, businessmen, and children alike. Locals make good use of the cafe patios here to exchange stories of the day. Crammed onto both sides of the street, seats come at a premium. Take the first available and order a cafe frappe. Then, sip slowly, basking in the sunlight.

Before sunset, take up residence at local design-apart-lodging, Mavres Studio . Nestled in a centuries-old olive grove, a two-minute drive from the center of town, it provides the perfect sanctuary after a sun-drenched day. Consider picking up fresh produce, beverages, and fish from a grocery near the cafes. Mavres was designed with privacy and relaxation in mind and comes equipped with a large BBQ, generous veranda, and reclaimed wooden picnic table, plus kitchenette for two.

When you wake up the next morning, get yourself into the mood for further gastronomic exploration. Hop into your rental car and head to The Governer's Olive Mill . Award-winning, and touted as the best producer in the world when it comes to taste, quality of production, and health claims: it's a must-see. Treat yourself to a tour and soak up 5 generations of olive making tradition. Known to delight guests, purveyors Spyros and George are as passionate about their craft as they are generous with hospitality. Expect to be well taken care of.

Ready for the next stop? Jump back into your car and travel north to the quaint beach town of Agios Gordios. The trip along the coast is captivating, to say the least. Try to soak it all in as it totals less than a half hour's drive.

Agios Gordios

Bursting with life, make no mistake, this town lives for tourism. The oldest taverns and hotels got their start here in the 60's and 70’s as commercial air travel took off. It thrives to this day because of it. But there's an undeniable energy to this community that makes it a must-stop on any Corfu road trip. Perhaps it's the nature of the businesses, most of which are family run. Maybe it's the wild olive trees and gardens that surround the village. Either way, there's something for everyone in Agios Gordios. From affordable luxury hotels to secluded beach resorts, and hippy-havens, it strikes a unique balance between touristic and authentic.

And, you'll want to come on an empty stomach because someone's bound to fill it. As modest as Agios Gordios is in size, public parking exists in two places. Spots are just a few euros near the beach, but inland towards the escarpment, behind Sebastian's Family Hotel & Taverna, is best. Although limited, these are free of charge.

Sebastian's has cultivated a familiar sense of hospitality that will warm your heart from the get-go. After three generations of ownership, they've created their own unique take on classic Corfiot fare as well. From Metaxa and Feta stuffed calamari to savory Moussaka, each meal releases its own restorative sensations. Many dishes are further enriched by local produce, with many ingredients coming from their private estate and farms. Let the staff guide your menu selections, you'll inevitably be in good hands when you do.

The main street of Agios Gordios leads onward from Sebastian's, connecting both swanky and down-to-earth tavernas, traditional restaurants, and guesthouses. Each serving their own take on Greek beverages like Caffe Freddo (ice coffee), Ellanikos Cafes (Greek coffee), Cafe Frappe, and fresh-squeezed juice. Refreshments are also available at the beach which lay just a few minutes beyond by foot.

Once you've finished sinking your teeth into hearty homemade tastes, and wrapped up a sunbathing session, it's time to head further north to the waterfront village of Arillas. Don't hesitate to stop your car at lookout points along the way. They're Instagrammable if not romantic.

An hour from Agios Gordios lies the seaside town of Arillas. Though situated on a sandy beach, development is moderate, and tourism is more organic than the higher-traffic areas near Corfu Town. The businesses are all locally owned, and no chain hotels or massive resort complexes occupy the landscape. As such, the local atmosphere is peaceful and unassuming.

It's become a sought after destination by yoga and meditation enthusiasts for this reason. The tranquility of the lapping waves and quiet ambiance of Arillas have also lead to the growth of similarly calming activities. Ouranos Club is one such meditative retreat located in the nearby vicinity. Many yogis also take to the beach to stretch their bodies and minds year-round.

Should you opt for a quieter day, park in the center of town, and stroll down to the boardwalk to relax. Heart-healthy foods are available in the cafes and restaurants dotting the shore, including fresh seafood and easy-to-digest goat cheese.

Within view from many local restaurants is a cluster of smaller islands, ideal for boating. No expensive boat rentals or license required. Instead, paddle and peddle boats are offered for the day for around the price of a simple meal. Unlike many beaches in Corfu, this one is relatively rock-free, making running and swimming attractive activities as well. Arillas is truly a destination promoting health and serenity.

For those venturing to Arillas in the fall, an incredible festival takes place . Enjoy a mix of modern and classical music, dancing, food, and refreshments for 5 days.

When you're ready to discover more of this island's timeless harmony, take to the road again. This time, drive east to Palea Perithia. A nearly one-hour car trip, this will take you across the island's northernmost frontier, up a mountain, past olive-strewn winding roads, to a town that almost time itself has forgotten.

Palea Perithia

When you arrive, you'll be privy to Corfu's foremost-preserved historical village: Palea Perithia (Old Perithia). Decades ago, when tourism grew to demand waterfront resorts, residents of Old Perithia abandoned their mountain homes to cater to the opportunity. Houses were left with pots and pans in the kitchens and chairs strewn about for time to ravage. But that's started to change.

This 120+ building heritage site is in the midst of a rebirth. The Greek Ministry of Culture and Archaeological Department of Corfu have deemed it 'A Designated Heritage Site with Elaborate Architecture in need of Special Public Protection.' As such, and with the tireless efforts of hoteliers Mark Hendriksen and Saskia Bosch, the island's ghost-town is getting its second wind. The aging stone-and-stucco facades are born anew - one address at a time.

In addition to the gentle rebuilding of the town, it's also, thankfully, one of Corfu's pedestrian-only communities. Cars park on the maintained plateau outside the old Venetian quarters. This allows for the picturesque sites and natural historical monuments to remain unobstructed. Situated just below the rounded peak of Mount Pantokrator, it boasts an idyllic location with surreal views of the Ionian to boot.

8 churches, their belfries, 5 tavernas, reinvigorated private estates, and a luxury bed and breakfast thrive here among ruins and yet-to-be-restored properties. The hospitality is striking, and there is something to be enjoyed at each turn - from wild honey to locally made preserves, and charcoal-grilled meals.

Stay a while to take full advantage of the sites and self-guided walking tours. Hoteliers Saskia and Mark make you feel at home in their accommodation which saw several merchant's houses brought back to life as a luxury bed and breakfast, honorably named The Merchant's House.

Tips For Driving A Car In Corfu

Corfu is a beautiful green island with a stunning scenery and many sights scattered around the island which makes it perfect for a road trip. Whether you are planning to bring your own car on the ferry or rent a car upon arrival, there are many things to consider when driving a car in an unfamiliar environment or country. This might feel overwhelming, but there’s no need to worry as we have listed everything you need to know about driving in Corfu, from traffic rules, to parking, and many other tips to stay safe and have a comfortable trip around the island.

Why Drive In Corfu

Corfu is a beautiful island with great nature, amazing beaches, historic towns and many other sights. Although you can get around the island by bus, navigating the public transport is more complicated and you don’t get to stop everywhere you want. With a (rental) car you have much more flexibility and you can get to some of the most beautiful places on the island that you can’t otherwise get to. If you don’t feel like driving, you can also book one of the many available tours .

Getting To Corfu By Car

Since Corfu is an island there are no roads leading to it, but there are regular car ferries that will take you with your car to the island from the mainland of Greece (Igoumenitsa), but also from Albania (Saranda).

Renting A Car In Corfu

To avoid the hassle of taking your car on a boat you can also rent a car upon arrival in Corfu. The main place to do this is in Corfu Town at the airport or the ferry port , but there are also other places around the island where you can pick up a rental car. Prices very heavily based on the demand, so you can expect higher prices during the busy summer months, compared to the rest of the year. Is It Safe To Drive In Corfu?

Driving in a foreign country always feels a bit more adventurous because you’re out of your comfort zone, but it’s perfectly safe to drive in Corfu if you drive cautiously and adhere to the traffic rules. Many roads on the island, especially in the mountains, are narrow so always drive slowly and be careful of the oncoming traffic.

Traffic Rules

In Corfu the same traffic rules apply as in the rest of Greece. The rules don’t differ much from most other countries but there are a few things that are good to know that might be different than what you’re used to.

Driving On The Right

Like in most countries in Europe, in Greece (including Corfu) you have to drive on the right-hand side of the road.

Speed Limits

For your own and other’s safety, always adhere to the applicable speed limits when driving in Corfu. Unless otherwise indicated, the maximum speeds for cars are as follows:

• Urban areas: 50 km/h
• Outside urban areas: 90 km/h
• Motorways: There are no motorways in Corfu.

Roundabouts

Traffic on a roundabout needs to give way to approaching vehicles entering the roundabout, unless this is otherwise indicated by signs.

In Corfu it’s not mandatory to have your (beam) lights on when driving during the day, unless the weather circumstances are causing reduced sight.

Mandatory Equipment

When driving a car in Greece, it’s mandatory to have the following equipment on board: a warning triangle, a first aid kit, and a fire extinguisher. If you rent a car , this equipment should be included but it’s recommended to check this when you pick up the car. It’s also recommended to carry yellow vests for all passengers and a torch with you.

Winter Tires And Snow Chains

The use of winter tires is not mandatory in Greece. The use of snow chains is only allowed if the road is covered by snow or ice.

Mobile Phones And Headphones

Drivers are not allowed to have a mobile phone in their hand while driving and can get a fine for doing so. Making phone calls is only allowed hands free. The use of in-ear or over-ear headphones is not allowed while driving.

Alcohol And Drugs

The maximum blood alcohol level to be allowed to drive a car in Corfu is 0.5 permille, but for drivers who’ve had their permit for less then 2 years, for professional drivers, and motorcyclists, the limit is 0.2 permille. Violations can lead to high fines and even to imprisonment, so never exceed these limits. Never drive under the influence of drugs as this is extremely dangerous and strictly prohibited.

Driving In The Mountains

Corfu has many hills and mountains, which means narrow and steep roads with a lot of bends. Driving in the mountains is not very difficult and rather fun, but it’s good to be aware of how to drive these roads. First of all, if you are descending down a declining road, you need to give way to the oncoming ascending vehicles if space is limited. On mountain roads it’s also important to use the correct gear based on the steepness of the road. When driving uphill, in most cases it’s recommended to use the 2nd gear, and shift down to the 1st gear when needed. When driving downhill, it’s best not to drive in neutral or use the clutch, but to shift down the gear to slow down. This way you avoid having to use the breaks all the time which is better for the car.

There are no toll roads in Corfu and there’s also no need to buy a toll vignette like in some other European countries, so you don’t need to worry about any extra costs for driving around the island.

Street parking is free in Corfu, including in the old city Corfu Town, unless otherwise indicated or signs indicate that parking is prohibited. Also make sure not to park at a yellow line because this is prohibited. Paid parking lots are also available in the capital city and at some private locations in other parts of the island.

Petrol Stations

There are many petrol stations in Corfu and most of them are open from the early morning until the evening and some are even open 24/7. Most petrol stations offer service, so you don’t have to fill up your tank yourself, but they might try to sell you the more expensive petrol with a 98 octane level in stead of the cheaper and more common 95 octane level, so make sure that you get the right type of petrol (or diesel).

If you’re looking for a relaxed and unique Greek island getaway, you cannot go wrong with mapping out a Corfu itinerary. Spending 2, 3 or 4 days in Corfu is never a bad idea and you’re sure to fall in love with this picturesque Ionian island.

Make your way directly east of southern Italy and just off the coast of Albania and you’ll find yourself on the lush island of Corfu in the heart of the Ionian Sea. While the Cycladic Islands tend to boast the highest popularity among Greek island visitors , the Ionian islands are completely different with beautiful beaches and scenery that are sure to impress.

How Many Days in Corfu?

When planning a trip, many visitors how long to spend in Corfu in order to do the island justice. Of the 7 Ionian islands, Corfu is the 2nd largest. Although it’s quite big in comparison to the other 5, it’s still a medium-sized island that’s quite easy to get around.

If you’d like to spend your time at the beach and wandering through the Old Town of Corfu for a few hours, 1 or 2 days in Corfu will suffice.

But if you’re someone who prefers to take your time, see more beaches, maybe go on a day trip and enjoy an island getaway, I’d recommend spending at least 3 or 4 days to maximize your time on the island. 

Getting To & Around Corfu

Fortunately, due to its size, Corfu is one of the most easily accessible islands of the Greek islands. 

Many islands are only reachable by ferry and others only have small airports connecting Greece and other islands (with high flight costs.)

Whereas the island of Corfu has an international airport with seasonal bases for many European and low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and EasyJet. 

Getting to Corfu

If you fly into Corfu, you’ll be flying into the “Ioannis Kapodistrias” Corfu International Airport. The Corfu Airport is conveniently located just under 2 miles from the Corfu Old Town and is easily accessible by public transport or by taxi. 

If you prefer to reach the Old Town by public transport, you’ll want to take the number 15 bus from outside the terminal. The bus goes directly into the center of the old town with other stops along the way, with a journey of around 15 minutes. 

From here you will reach many other bus stops which will connect you to other areas of the island.

If you prefer to take a taxi, it costs just between €10-15 depending on the time of day. It’s also possible to organise a private transfer here.

If you don’t have any luggage on you, walking is another option, as it only takes around 25-30 minutes to reach the center of the Old Town on foot.

There are numerous ferry routes to the island of Corfu from other nearby Greek islands such as Kefalonia , the mainland , and also from Italy , and Albania . You can view schedules here.

The port in Corfu is located about a 10-minute drive from the Old Town, and here you can also find local buses to take you to numerous points across the island.

Getting Around Corfu 

You have a few different options to help you get from place to place during your time in Corfu. The option that I’d personally recommend is to rent a car.

If you’re a driver and have an adequate amount of money to put toward your trip, this will be your best option. You can browse options on Rentalcars.com which aggregates prices for a number of companies.

If you want to keep costs lower while in Greece and don’t want to spend a large amount of money to rent a car, here is the quintessential way to get around a Greek island; a motorcycle.

Motorcycles are a lot cheaper to rent than cars and offer speedy and fun ways to get around. You’ll also see so many views that otherwise would’ve been blocked by the top of the car!

Booking a rental car or motorcycle a fair amount of time in advance will give you the best deal and a lot more flexibility for your trip. From the southernmost point of Corfu to the northernmost point, it takes around 2 hours by car.

You never know where you may end up wanting to explore – from Paleokastritsa Monastery to Porto Timoni Beach to the Achilleion Palace, which was built for Austrian Empress Sisi in the 19th Century.

If renting a car isn’t an option for you, don’t worry. There are two main bus systems within the island; blue buses and green buses. The blue buses are for connecting the central part of the island such as the airport, the old town, the port, and surrounding areas. 

The green buses reach the rest of the island which is a great option if you want to get out and explore further than your hotel or the Old Town.

The main bus station of the green buses is located near the port and connects to most of the main villages on the island which are worth the visit. 

2, 3 or 4-Day Corfu Itinerary

Corfu (Kerkyra in Greek) truly looks like a scene from a Mamma Mia movie. From the aquamarine waters, uniquely rich history, abundant lush greenery throughout the island, and dreamy sunset nights with a delicious meal or drink in hand, you’re bound to fall in love. 

Corfu is an ideal island to visit if you’re looking for a Greek island getaway unlike anywhere else.

Day 1 – Old Town of Corfu

The ideal place to begin any trip to Corfu is in the Old Town. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the history of the Old Town of Corfu goes back to the 8th century BCE as well as the Byzantine period. Over time Corfu has been under rule by many countries and empires, including the French, the British, the Byzantines, and the Venetians. 

Undoubtedly, today you can still see an immense amount of influence on the island, its culture, food and, mainly the Old Town from these periods. 

The Esplanade (Spianada)

Located beside the sea and next to the dreamy streets of Corfu’s Old Town, you’ll find the largest square in Greece and the Balkans. Just looking around you’ll already be able to notice the strong Venetian influence on the island. 

The Esplanade is a relaxing and green area to take in your surroundings and prepare for your day.

Don’t be thrown off if you see cricket players having their hand at a match in the Esplanade, this goes back to when Corfu was under British rule and is still the only spot in Greece where you’ll find cricket! 

Old Fortress of Corfu

From the Esplanade, one of the most defining points you’ll likely notice is the Old Fortress sitting looking out into the Ionian sea and taking watch over Corfu.

Known as one of the most astonishing and impressive fortifications in Europe, the Old Fortress of Corfu was built by the Venetians during the period of their rule in the 15th century.

The Old Fortress is a brilliant site to spend time at on your Corfu itinerary, not just for the impressive features of the fortress itself but also for the breathtaking views from the top.

There are regular exhibitions at the fortress as well as concerts at different points of the year if that’s something that you’re interested in.

Wander the Streets of the Old Town

The Old Town of Corfu is truly stunning and even has a royal feel to it. The Old Town itself is quite small and wandering through its Venetian-influenced streets is truly a joy. 

From the colorful buildings, cobblestoned streets and friendly locals, you’ll find it hard to leave! You’ll find boutiques, speciality food stores, ice cream shops, restaurants, cafes, and pretty much everything else you’d expect. If you want to learn more about the history of the town, you can organise a walking tour here.

If you’re visiting on a hot summer day and want a cool treat (or you’re visiting in winter!), I’d recommend heading to Papagiorgis Patiserie-Gelateria to enjoy an artisanal gelato. 

Church of St. Spyridon 

Just a 2-minute walk away from the Papagiorgis Gelateria is the most monumental church on the island of Corfu, the Church of St. Spyridon. 

Built in the 1580s and still located in the Old Town of Corfu, the Church of Spyridon is home to the relics of St. Spyridon and also has the highest bell tower in all of the Ionian islands! 

The outside of the church is quite typical, but the baroque and Orthodox art inside the church is quite beautiful and worth popping in to see. Visits to the church are free. 

Dinner at Veranda Taverna

At the end of day 1, you’ll make your way to the harbor at sunset to enjoy a sunset meal at the wonderful tavern Veranda Taverna. Here you’ll find classic Greek and Corfu-specific dishes. 

The dishes of Corfu are unique due to the many occupations throughout history and I recommend the Pastitsada or Stoufada to experience the unique foods of Corfu! 

The sunsets and the views that overlook the coast of Corfu are breathtaking and because of this, I recommend making reservations in advance to secure a table.

Day 2 – Wine Tasting & Beach Day 

When people think of wine and wine production countries, France, Italy and Spain are typically what come to mind, not Greece. But Greece – and Corfu in particular – has some incredible varieties of wine grapes and unique wines to get to know. 

If you’re spending 2 days, you’ll have the opportunity to get to taste some of these wines, explore the vineyards, and sit back, relax and enjoy the sun and time at the beach. 

Wine Tasting & Vineyard Tour

The vineyards on the Island of Corfu are all located in small villages and more rural areas of the island. Reaching these parts of the island can pose a challenge especially if you’re not with a car on the island. But with the right planning, you’re on your way to Corfiot wine country. 

My recommended option for a vineyard visit is to take part in a guided tour. Many guided tours that will transport you from the Old Town and possibly your accommodation, as well as arrange vineyard visits and wine tastings. 

A lot of these tours also combine tours with local olive oil tastings which make for a perfect day to get a literal taste of the island of Corfu. Some options include this wine-tasting tour or this private full-day tour.

If you don’t have a car, there are bus routes from the Old Town that will take you to many of the villages where you will find local wineries. 

If you do have a car during your stay in Corfu, your options do open up quite a bit. For those with the flexibility of location, my recommendations for vineyard visits Pontiglio Winery – a lovely family-run vineyard in the southern Corfu village of Lefkimmi – and Nicoluzo Winery – a winery in the northern part of the island with unique wine varieties.

Glyfada Beach

The best place to head to after wine tasting is to go relax under the Greek sun at the beach. 

Corfu is full of wonderful beaches, and you can find different beaches to suit your needs. One of my favorites is Glyfada Beach. 

The water is clean, the sea is vast, there are a few different restaurants at different budgets on the beach, and you can either pay to rent a chair at one of the beach clubs or just lay your blanket down and get to it. If you decide to rent a chair and umbrella, be prepared to pay between €15-20.

Glyfada is located on the other side of the island from Corfu’s old town and can be reached by bus transport quite conveniently. If you’ve been doing a wine tasting, you’re already in the nearby vicinity. 

Another nearby sandy beach that’s located just a bit further south is in the village of Agios Gordios which is also within easy reach. Regardless of where you end up, lounging on one of the island’s many lovely beaches is one of the best things to do in Corfu.

Day 3 – Western Corfu Beaches

Gialli beach.

If you’re lucky enough to spend 3 days in Corfu, today will bring you to what is arguably the most beautiful beach in the Ionian sea. Located on the west side of Corfu, Gialli Beach is a tranquil wonder unspoiled by tourists and infrastructure. 

From the clearest glasslike, bluest water, to the few people you’ll likely find on the beach, Gialli Beach is what I would consider to be the hidden gem of Corfu. 

The only caveat is the means of reaching Gialli Bbeach. If you have a car, it’s easy to access the nearby areas, and if not, the local villages are accessible by bus transport. 

The beach isn’t accessible by road or short walk so the only ways to reach it are by about an hour-long hike down the mountain (mainly holding onto rope due to the descent and loose rocks), or by boat.

If you decide to take the hike down, plug “Chapel of Prophet Elias” into your GPS, and once you arrive you’ll want to follow the trail down toward the coast. It is extremely dangerous to commit to this hike if you don’t have the correct footwear or fitness level, or are bringing tons of beach gear. 

Only do the hike if you just have a backpack on your back, and closed-toe shoes with a good grip. There are no options for food or drink once you reach the beach as it is very secluded, so bring a light lunch and water if you plan on spending the day or more than an hour at the beach (it’s hard to leave!)

Otherwise, you have the option to take a boat trip. You can either rent your own boat and transport yourself there (which is a bit costly), or hire a boat taxi from one of the nearby village ports. 

Liapades is the closest port nearby and there you can arrange boat transportation to Gialli beach as well as plan a time to be picked up. It’s about a 10-minute boat ride each way and costs €10 per person. 

Afterwards enjoy a lovely, local dinner at one of the nearby villages such as Giannades, Marmaro, or Ermones. 

Day 4 – Day Trip to Paxos & Antipaxos

One of the biggest benefits of a Corfu itinerary is the close proximity of other Ionian islands to Corfu. 

For those spending 4 days on the island, one of the best ways to get the most out of your trip after exploring the island of Corfu is to get out to one of the nearby islands. 

The closest islands nearby that make for a great day trip and are known to be some of the most beautiful islands in the world, are Paxos and Antipaxos.

To spend a day in Paxos and Antipaxos islands you have a few options; you can either take part in a guided tour taking you from Corfu, then around the other islands and back to Corfu. 

These will cost you a lot more than visiting independently but it also takes a lot of stress away from planning your day trip. Some options include this full-day boat cruise or this similar tour.

And the other option is to take the ferry from Corfu and explore Paxos and/or Antipaxos independently.

If you decide to visit the islands independently, make your way to the New Port of Corfu to then prepare to board your ferry to Paxos.

“Kamelia Lines” is the passenger ferry line transporting passengers to Paxos and the journey takes around an hour. “ Kerkyra Lines” also has routes to Paxos from Corfu via Igoumenitsa for both foot passengers and vehicles.

Once reaching Paxos, it’s important to know that Paxos is the smallest of all the Ionian islands. There aren’t too many “touristy” things to do or sites to see but the best thing to do when visiting Paxos is just to wander the island, enjoy the crystalline beaches, and eat good Greek food. 

Gaios, the island’s capital is where most of the action is happening and the town itself is beautiful, getting lost in the colorful streets and observing locals while sipping coffee is a delight. Mambo located in Gaios, is a delicious Greek tavern to enjoy a meal during your time on the island.

If you’d like to visit the sister island of Paxos, Antipaxos, you can either rent your own boat to visit or take a boat taxi as it’s only 3 nautical miles away. Expect costs for the water taxi to be around €20 per person for a return trip.

When on Antipaxos, head to Votoumi Beach to catch some sun and sea, try some local Antipaxon food and maybe even try your hand at snorkeling or scuba diving.

Alternatively, head north to the port village of Sidari and hop on a ferry or boat tour to the small island of Erikousa for a very off-the-beaten-path day trip option.

Where to Stay on Corfu

Eros Beach Hotel – This lovey beahcfront hotel in the village of Benitses is an excellent option for mid-range visitors. They have several bright and modern rooms available (some with sea views), an excellent location for exploring the island and rooms suitable for both couples and families.

Art Hotel Debono – Those looking for a luxury escape will love this beautiful 4-star hotel. They have a number of plush rooms on offer, a swanky swimming pool to enjoy and plenty of other amenities to ensure your stay is an excellent one.

Brentanos Apartments – Travelers who want the convenience of their own apartment but don’t want to sacrifice the amenities of a hotel will love this centrally-located aparthotel on Corfu. They have a range of flats available, an on-site swimming pool and beautiful views of the Ionian Sea.

Angelica’s Backpacker’s Hostel – If you’re visiting Corfu on a tight budget or as a solo traveler, you are sure to love this hostel. They have a range of both shared dorms and private rooms on offer, great common areas and a good atmosphere for meeting others.

While Corfu may not be the main island that you think of when planning a Greek island itinerary, it’s certainly one that should be on the top of your list.

From incredibly friendly people to historically unique fusion food and idyllic beaches, Corfu has many things that set it apart from the other Greek islands and make for a wonderful island getaway.

Visit Corfu : One week road trip on the island of Corfu in Greece

Greece is one of my favorite destinations in Europe ! There are many islands, 6,000 in total, of which about 300 are inhabited. Until now, I had dedicated my trips to Greece to the Cyclades. You can find our travel guides on Santorini, Milos, Mykonos, Paros and Crete by clicking here. For this solo trip, I decided to change the location and visit Corfu for a week . So what to do on the island of Corfu ? Find in this article a complete road trip itinerary .

What to do in Corfu during a week ?

One week to visit Corfu is the ideal time ! This destination is conducive to relaxation and will delight beach lovers. Corfu belongs to the Ionian Islands, of which there are 7.

Practical information for your road trip to Corfu

How to get to corfu .

Being an island, the most convenient way to get there is by plane :

⛴️​ The ferry : you can reach Corfu from Greece or Albania. Book your tickets online at Ferries In Greece.

How do you rent a car for your week in Corfu ?

I didn’t rent a car because I booked this trip last minute and rental prices had skyrocketed, so don’t make the same mistake I did. I made do by renting a quad bike and a car for 4 days from a small rental place next to my accommodation. I also took the bus, which is very well connected on the island of Corfu. So you can consider this trip if you don’t have a driving license. You can find the info and timetable of the Green Buses Line on the official website .

Anyway, it is more convenient to have your own vehicle to carry out my route. I advise you to compare the offers and book via Skyscanner.

Budget for a one week road trip to Corfu ?

Here are the details of my expenses for my trip to Corfu :

• ✈️ Flights Lyon – Corfu : 70€ AR + 25€ Volotea luggage per person
• 🚗​ Car rental : 200€ for the week
• ⛽️ Gasoline expenses : 40€
• 🏨​ Accommodation : 434€ per week in a studio with sea view
• 🍽️​ Restaurants : 30€ per day per person for 2 restaurant meals.

Total for a 7 night trip = 1,074€, or 537€ per person, excluding activities.

This budget can vary depending on the price of car/plane rentals and the standard of accommodation you choose. You can also save a lot of money on food by cooking in an apartment-hotel as I did or by eating a snack at lunchtime.

When to go to Corfu ?

☀️ The weather is favorable from May until October. I don’t recommend the summer months when the island’s crowds explode, which inevitably makes the trip less enjoyable. Personally, I left at the beginning of October and it was great! Few tourists, the sea at 23°C, a great weather… the ideal conditions for an Indian summer.

Can you travel as a woman in Corfu ?

This was my second solo trip and I felt safe on the island. Of course, basic safety rules apply as they do everywhere (for example : avoid walking alone at night). For those of you who have been following my Instagram stories, I didn’t have any bad experiences, except for a heavy flirt at the car rental place.

🏨​ Where to stay in Corfu ?

The island of Corfu is small enough that you can visit it from one place to stay. I enjoyed the stay even more and was able to relax, without having to unpack and repack every night. I would recommend staying in the northwest part of Corfu. I found an accommodation on the beach of Agios Georgios Pagon with a great value for money, very clean, well located literally 30 seconds from the sea. Here is the link to book.

If it is not available, you can find other accommodation nearby on Booking. Otherwise, I recommend Bouganville in Paleokastrítsa, which offers beautiful accommodation close to the most beautiful beaches of Corfu. If I had to do it again, I would stay there !

Day 1 : Arrival in Corfu

As I arrived late, I dedicated my first day to transportation and to the entry in my accommodation. So I leave you this day free to take your marks according to your arrival time.

If you did not rent a car, you can take the bus or the cab from the airport to get to your hotel or apartment. The cab cost me 55€ for a one hour trip and I asked the person at my accommodation to organize the transfer for me to make it easier.

Day 2 : Beaches and North Coast of Corfu

Today, put on your best swimsuit and don’t forget water and sun cream !

Hike to the beach of Porto Timoni

This is a mini hike that will lead you to the most beautiful landscape of Corfu, according to an international ranking decreed by myself. The start of the hike is at this GPS point . I recommend you to go there in the late morning, when the sun starts to rise !

Access : 15 minutes to get down and 20 minutes to get back up. I highly recommend putting on sneakers as the trail is rocky and sandy. You can park along this street for free or go to the secure pay parking lot if there is no more room.

Lunch in the village of Afionas

After enjoying the beach, I invite you to take a walk in the tiny village of Afionas. It won’t take long because it is only composed of a few alleys, but it is cute.

For lunch, I recommend the Anafoufou Coffee Bar & Restaurant. Besides the decoration which is hot, the sea view is just as hot !

Walk to Cape Drastis, a must for your road trip to Corfu

The cliffs and sandbanks of Cape Drastis make it exceptional. In front of it, you can admire the mountains of Albania. I loved this place! Small caves have formed over the years, you can visit them by boat or canoe when you arrive at the bottom of the footpath. Allow about 15/20 minutes to get to the bottom.

The Canal of Love

Not far from Cape Drastris, you will find the Canal d’Amour, a very touristy place in Corfu. You will understand that there are many people here, with lots of hotels and restaurants. By the way, I find that this very “built” side taints the beauty of the landscape a bit.

According to the legend, those who swim across the Canal d’Amour meet the love of their life or get married with their current love. So it’s worth going there just for that.

🍽️​ If you want to have lunch or dinner nearby, my favorite address is Katerina’s Taverna : nice typical decoration and absolutely delicious dishes.

Sunset in Corfu

There are many spots to watch the sunset on the island of Corfu . I certainly saw one of the most beautiful of my life from the beach of Agios Georgios Pagon, right in front of my accommodation. You can also see it from Loggas Beach or any beach on the northwest and west coast.

Dine at a Fisherman’s Cabin

Another option to admire the sunset and feast on fish fresher than ever, head to the Fisherman’s Cabin restaurant. I warn you that the road to get there is a bit chaotic, but it’s no problem if you drive carefully. The menu changes regularly according to the catch of the day and the setting is enchanting, with the added bonus of great value for money. Reservations are recommended during the high season.

Day 3 : Visit Corfu and its old town 

Corfu town, the capital.

Corfu Town boasts beautiful Venetian architecture, which has earned it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To start your visit, you can lose yourself in the colorful alleys of the old town which are full of shops and small cafes.

The Old Fort

Started in the 6th century, the construction of the Old Fort of Corfu was completed during the Venetian era to protect the island. Apart from the interest of the buildings and the historical side, this visit offers beautiful views of the Ionian Sea and the city.

Ticketing on site, 6€ per person. Count between 1h30 and 2h30 on site, it depends on if you visit the museum. Don’t forget to go all the way to the top to see the best views.

The monastery of Panagia Vlacherna

From the Old Fort, I recommend you to walk along the coast to the monastery of Panagia Vlacherna. This place is right next to the airport, so you can watch the planes taking off from very close. However, the monastery itself is sublime.

Cultural activity in Corfu

To complete this day, I recommend one of these activities to discover more about Greek gastronomy.

Where to eat in Corfu city ?

The restaurants To Tsipouradiko and Abakas were highly recommended to me by a traveler on Instagram (thanks Fanny if you’re passing by).

Days 4 and 5 : visit the west coast for your week in Corfu

Paleokastrítsa, its monastery and its beaches, ⛪️ visit the monastery of paleokastrítsa.

I recommend you to go there relatively early so you don’t get too hot and avoid the crowd. You can park for free right at the top of the hill. I saw a lot of people walking up the road, but it is not very interesting. The access to the monastery is free.

Boat trip to swim in the caves

Paleokastrítsa is full of beautiful beaches and caves ! The best way to discover them is by boat. The rental company Alipa Boats by Yiannis offers guided tours but also boats without a license to enjoy independently – so I recommend the second option if you are several. ☀️ Take a picnic with you, water for the day and don’t forget your mask and snorkel. Don’t hesitate to contact him on WhatsApp 1 or 2 days before to book your boat if you go in high season.

Apéro sunset at La Grotta

To end the day on a high note, head to La Grotta bar after returning your boat. This place is outstanding. I was solo during my week-long trip to Corfu and this is the only time I wish I had been accompanied to enjoy the atmosphere even more. The bar was built into the rock and the layout is very nice.

For those who want to swim, you can access the crystal clear waters from the bar. There is a diving board and a rope to climb the cliff to make your best jump ! For others who just want to drink and eat, that’s also possible while enjoying the loungers and music.

Road trip in Corfu : continuation on the west coast

For this second day on the west coast of Corfu , we are going to discover some beaches, one of which is a real nugget. But, first of all, wear sneakers on your feet today and a mask/tuba (only in the water of course, unless you want to start a fashion).

🌊 Liapades Beach

This pebble beach with clear waters is a must see. While its deckchair/parasol setup is unfortunate, it’s still gorgeous with its cypress-populated cliff. Go to the right side of the beach to admire beautiful fish !

​🚗​ Access : by car, the road goes down to the beach.

Rovinia Beach

Right next to Liapades Beach is another pretty beach, preserved from any development. This one reminded me a lot of the calanques back home! To get there, park here (price : 3€) or continue down the road if you have a small car / quad. Be careful though, the road is more like a stony path, so drive carefully. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the beach.

♥️ Yiali Beach, favorite of my week in Corfu

So there, I was glued in front of the beauty of this beach! It is in my opinion the most beautiful in Corfu and it is not visited much compared to the others, because the pedestrian access is rather rough. ? That said, the effort is more than worth it, whether for the scenery during the hike or for the beach itself. See for yourself in the photos…

​🚗​ Park on this small (free) parking lot and walk down the trail to the sea. Be careful, I don’t recommend this hike for small children or frail people. At the end of the trail, it goes downhill dry but there are ropes to help you.

Once there, I saw that there were boat shuttle services that dropped people off and brought them back (cheaters !). However, I have no idea where they come from. 

Angelokastro

If you still have some juice and if it’s not too late, I recommend you to visit Angelokastro, one of the major Byzantine fortresses of the country. The castle is located on a hill by the sea and offers a panoramic view. The entrance ticket costs 3€ per adult, you can find the opening hours on Google Maps.

🍽️​ Dinner at Sunset Taverna

To end the day on a high note, go eat and enjoy the sunset at Sunset Taverna restaurant , located 4 minutes drive from Angelokastro. The view is sublime… Reservation advised in high season !

Day 6 : excursion to the islands of Paxos and Anti-Paxos

It’s time to take the sea to discover other Ionian islands, for a day. I loved this excursion ! The boat was great, with bar/snacks and DJ on board for the atmosphere in the afternoon.

Here is the activity description :

• Departure from the port of Corfu around 9am
• Sailing to Paxos for an arrival around 11:30 am. During this time, you will have the pleasure to admire the coastal landscapes with explanations of the guide who speaks many languages (including French)
• Free time of 2 hours in the village of Lakka to go to the beach and have lunch
• Discovery by boat of the wonderful “Blue Caves” of Paxos
• Barbecue on the boat for those who have not eaten or are still hungry 😋​
• Swimming in Anti-Paxos, in a clear water worthy of the Caribbean
• Return to Corfu around 7pm with Greek dance demonstration on board.

I recommend this excursion without hesitation, especially at the end of the season (October) when the boat was not filled to its maximum capacity. So you will have space on board and less people in the points of interest.

Day 7 : End of the one-week road trip in Corfu

As a bonus, if your flight is late in the day, you will still have time to visit Corfu and its must-sees ! Here are some suggestions to complete this last day.

Visit the south of Corfu

We didn’t go to the south of the island during this itinerary, but there are still some nice places to see  (traditional villages, monasteries, beaches…). Need some ideas? Here are some, to be found on Google Maps :

Water activities

You also have the possibility to book great activities in Corfu to (re)discover the sea, by water or by air. My recommendations for the best activities in Corfu :

• Private boat to learn or practice wake boarding (do it with more than one person to make it more profitable)
• Boat trip to the archipelago of Paxos and the Blue Caves

Excursion to Parga, Sivota and discovery of the blue lagoon

I have saved the best for last, namely an excursion to the beautiful villages of Parga and Sivota, located on the Greek mainland. As a bonus, you can swim in the crystal clear waters of the blue lagoon.

This is the same organizer as the excursion I did in Paxos, so I recommend it with my eyes closed !

With the freedom of a car, you can visit these seaside gems such as Kassiopi and Sidari .

Also, you can travel the steep hills to visit places like Agios Gordios , soaking in the local culture, food, and traditions at your own pace.

So for a diverse Corfu itinerary , you’ll need a car to reach to visit lesser-known historical sites scattered across the island.

Then you can easily visit the old fortresses, ancient temples, and other landmarks, diving deep into the island’s past.

Small rental cars are ideal, and lucky for me I was just one person on a solo Greek Island adventure.

The old town is charming, but parking is not easy, I would look outside the city first.

Corfu, an island off Greece’s northwest coast in the Ionian Sea, with rugged mountains and ample beach resorts. During the summer of 2022, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to work on the island of Corfu in Greece. I lived there for six and a half months while working in the tourism industry.

While in Corfu, I lived near the beach, ate my way through the island, explored every nook and cranny I could, got acquainted with the people and culture, and fell in love. Azure water, friendly people, good food, a strong Venetian influence, gorgeous cliffs and a constant view of the Albanian mountains in the North – Corfu is paradise on Earth.  

In this article, I’m imparting everything I know about Corfu to inspire you to visit and fall in love with this magical island, just like I did.

Things To Know About Corfu

Corfu is a green island: its climate is hot and humid in Spring and Summer and temperate but rainy in Autumn and Winter, which means nature gets to flourish. Because of the climate, I strongly recommend visiting during Spring when all the flowers bloom. Temperatures are high enough to enjoy the beach and the island isn’t quite as crowded as during the Summer months.  

Also good to know: tap water is not potable; during high season, you should expect low water pressure at certain times of day, never throw toilet paper in the toilet, and the internet is not always guaranteed. Between October and May, most of the island is closed for tourism.

Getting Around Corfu

Although Corfu looks like paradise, it also has a couple of shortcomings. Public buses, for instance, though present, are not always very reliable. Especially outside of high season (July-mid September).

Renting A Car In Corfu

Renting a car is the best way to travel around the island easily since some places are more remote and less accessible by other means. Renting quads and scooters is also very popular, but it’s more dangerous, especially since the roads are not in the best of states.

Driving a car in Corfu might seem a bit daunting if you’re unfamiliar, but Greek drivers are used to the tourists and if you go at a relaxed pace, you will find it very comfortable. Google Maps is also very reliable to get you from town to town, though it is best to compare the routes it takes to a map to stay on the main roads. The scenic route might be beautiful, but not necessarily easy to drive.

Corfu might not be a big island, but because of the mountains, getting around might take some time, so consider this when booking accommodation. For example, driving from Roda to Corfu Town can take between 50 to 70 minutes. It is, however, possible to visit everything Corfu has to offer in 3 to 4 days, leaving ample time to relax at one of its many idyllic beaches.

Taxis In Corfu

There are also affordable taxis on the island, but if it is busy, you might have to wait to find one. Outside of the capital, taxis should always be ordered in advance.

There are so many great hotels and places to stay in Corfu to choose from and a handful that seriously cater to groups with pools and beach access. Here are 10 of the best hotels in Corfu .

Places To Visit In Corfu

Corfu town and the achilleion.

Meander through the narrow streets of Corfu Town and you will immediately note the strong Venetian influence, with laundry hanging up between houses, warm-toned façades and shops all around. You can walk through the old town, look at and visit the Old Fortress, go to Spaniada Square and stroll along Garitsa or grab a bite at one of the many establishments.

For a better understanding of the Venetian influence, visit Casa Parlante Museum , where you’ll get acquainted with the family that used to live there and their habits.  

Take the more reliable blue busses that run between Perama and Ipsos or drive and park in one of three parking (5€ per day).

A 20-minute drive from Corfu Town, you will find the Achilleion , also known as Sissi’s Palace. I recommend visiting it on the same day as Corfu Town, as this will make for a nice full day of leisurely visits. The palace is currently under renovation, but once open, you can visit the palace and its gardens with statues and panoramic views.

• Starenio Bakery is an award-winning bakery that sells delicious vegan sweet and savory pies
• Pane e Souvlaki is a quaint little restaurant that serves traditional Greek food near the town hall
• Sway Bar and Kitchen for a swanky drink
• White Pearl for some original jewelry and clothing

Kassiopi is my all-time favorite place in Corfu. It is a charming fishermen’s village in the North of the island. There is a cute port which offers uninterrupted views of the mountains of Albania since it is its nearest point. It has several beautiful pebble beaches north of the port and if you follow the port to the right, you will find a small, hidden pathway that ends on a tiny secluded beach.  

• Limani is a cocktail bar that not only offers a wide variety of alcoholic and virgin cocktails but also serves delicious and original dishes for breakfast through dinner.

Paleokastritsa

Located on the West Coast of the island, Paleokastritsa is simply incomparable. During Spring, you must not miss out on the charming monastery at the top of a hill, with all the plants in bloom; its garden is a sanctuary with a sweeping view of the ocean.  

Paleokastritsa consists of numerous beautiful bays with sandy beaches and a lively village. You can also rent a speedboat (no license needed) and explore the bays of Paleokastritsa and Liapades.  

• La Grotta Lounge & Pub is somewhat of a climb to get to this bar located on the side of a cliff, but it’s worth it. Perfect for tasty cocktails and a dive.

Agios Georgios Pagon and Porto Timoni

Agios Georgios Pagon in the North (not to be confused with Agios Georgios in the South) has one of the largest sandy beaches in Corfu. It is conveniently close to Afionas and Porto Timoni. Porto Timoni consists of 2 bays that nearly touch which is accessible through a steep hike that starts at the small village of Afionas.

About halfway down the hike, there is a lookout point. If you are not a fan of walking or are traveling with kids, I don’t recommend starting at the top of the hill but rather taking a taxi boat at the beach of Agios Georgios. If you do decide to hike: don’t wear flip-flops and don’t forget your bottle of water and a snack.

Sidari, Logas Beach and Cape Drastis

The Canal d’Amour (canal of love) is a must-see in Sidari. It is rumored that couples who swim through the natural canal will have eternal love. The clay cliffs are also worth the trip for those who do not wish to take a swim.  

Logas Beach on the West Coast is also called sunset beach. For absolutely stunning sunsets, I recommend Logas. The clay mountainsides look simply cinematic during the golden hour.

Cape Drastis is perfect if you like a hike and a swim. Park up the hill and walk down to the beaches there. Enjoy the view on your way down.  

• Micrososmoses in Sidari sells iridescent glass jewelry handmade by a female artist who lives in Corfu. They also sell a wide variety of stainless steel jewelry.
• 7th Heaven is a bar and restaurant at Logas Beach. It has a panoramic view of the sunset, but beware: the view is better than the food and while the bar is accessible to all, you must call ahead for a table if you want to have dinner there. It is closed during the day.

Pantokrator

Pantokrator is the tallest mountain in Corfu, standing at 906m tall. At the top of the mountain, you will find a monastery as well as the ghost town of Old Perithia. You can hike up the mountain, do a jeep safari, or drive on the only paved way up the mountain. If you opt for the latter option, don’t forget to research in advance to avoid dangerous dirt roads.

Other Things To Know About Corfu

While researching Corfu, you might stumble upon the waterfalls of Nymfes. If you wish to go and visit them, ask the locals about it first since the lack of rain during the Summer season means the waterfalls are sometimes more of a ‘waterdribble’.  

Corfu has plenty to choose from if you wish to lay at the beach with hotels, bars and restaurants owning most of the sunbeds at the beach. You can use them but are expected to buy something. Some places also ask for payment for the beds, but it is always stated in this case.

If you wish to visit calmer beaches, you can almost always find one by driving along the coast and looking down the cliffs. For a large but calm beach, try Almyros outside of Acharavi.

More Recommendations

Since 6.5 months is ample time to get familiar with the island, I also have recommendations if you find yourself outside the places above.

You will find traditional Greek dishes (such as Sofrito, Gyros and Souvlaki) in virtually every restaurant on the island, but don’t forget about coffee. Coffee is a vital part of the Greek culture and they have found inventive ways to serve it. Ice coffee is especially popular; try out a freddo espresso, freddo cappuccino, or a frappe with or without ice cream.

Acharavi might not be the most charming town, but its restaurants certainly pack a tasty punch.

• Maistro is one of the best restaurants in town, especially known for its fish
• Faros Restaurant has delicious food a stone’s throw away from the water
• Fuego is a calm beach bar. If you want to go out, you can go on Wednesday after midnight for Greek Night when the locals are off work. Otherwise, they serve all-day breakfast and fiery cocktails
• Cafe Amarena Patisserie try out their bite-sized traditional pastries
• Microcosmoses are the second location of the store is handmade glass jewelry

Roda is next to Acharavi and has plenty of restaurants to pick from and livelier nightlife, but my heart goes out to:  

• Ammos Grill Room is great for traditional meats among the locals

On the East Coast in Barbati:  

• Starlight Restaurant is great for dinner with a view

And lastly, seemingly in the middle of nowhere, you will find:  

• Melisito is located near the small village of Dafni, Melisito is a reputable bakery with a view of the valley

Paxos Boat Trip

If you have time, a lot of different offices offer boat trips to Paxos, the tiny island to the South of Corfu. Paxos is known for its blue caves and most trips offer you the chance to swim in the bluer-than-blue waters of Antipaxos. It is a full-day trip, but it is worth it. If you can, visit Paxos’ capital Gaios, a quaint little village.

Corfu offers a variety of enjoyable tours. Here are four great options:

• Take a trip off the island to the islands of Antipaxos and Paxos Blue Caves on a boat trip

• Enjoy some time out on the water on a Corfu Island Sailing Trip with lunch

If you’re planning a trip to Corfu, you probably noticed that most people rent a car to get around the island. However, visiting Corfu without a car is more common than the internet might make you think!

I love how diverse Corfu is, and there is truly so much to discover on the island. And you don’t necessarily need a car to do it!

Corfu has a reliable public transport system and intercity buses connecting most major tourist hot spots on the island.

I used the bus for some of my trips while I was in Corfu, and it worked perfectly! Also, joining organized tours is an excellent way to reach more remote areas.

Let’s get right into everything you need to know to visit Corfu without a car!

Do You Need A Car In Corfu?

First things first, do you really need a car in Corfu? 

No, you don’t. You can visit Corfu, stay in the most beautiful areas, and get around the island without a car.

That being said, renting a car in Corfu could be easier and cheaper.

The easier part is valid anytime, but the cheaper part depends on when you visit Corfu.

If you visit Corfu in the low season , like I did in May, a rental car can cost you less than 10€ per day!

However, if you’re coming to Corfu in the peak summer season, rental cars are significantly more expensive. 

A way to save money when renting a car in Corfu is to get a car only for a day when you want to go on a Corfu road trip.

Also, the ease of getting around the island depends on where in Corfu you decide to stay.

If you’re staying in a remote mountain village a car might be a necessity. 

But if you’re staying in Corfu Town, you can easily grab a local bus and reach virtually any tourist attraction on the island.

Finally, there are tours. If driving in Corfu is not your thing, you can always join an organized tour and visit places that are not on the public bus route.

The best place to stay in Corfu depends on the type of holiday you’re after. 

If you want to spend a week on the beach, swimming during the day and enjoying restaurants at night, most seafront villages in Corfu offer just that!

However, if you’re more of an adventure traveler like me, and you want to explore the island you should stay along the intercity bus route.

If you have a week in Corfu , you could divide your time between two places. 

First staying in Corfu Town for day trips, and then spending a couple of days in one of the beach towns.

Most Corfu intercity buses depart from Corfu Town. That makes Corfu Town the best place to stay on the island for day trips.

Corfu Town is the biggest and the most lively town on the island. It is a place with many things to do, a charming Old Town, and lively nightlife. 

Also, if you’re coming to Corfu in the low season like I did, it is the most lively area as most locals live there.

The downside of Corfu Town is the beaches. There is a beach in the city, but it is way too close to the port for my liking.

If you’re going to Corfu for beaches, Corfu Town is not the best option.

Also, accommodation in Corfu is significantly more expensive for the same level of comfort compared to the other places on the island. 

When I went to Corfu, I paid more for a room in a family-run apartment in Corfu Town than a 4-star hotel in Kavos!

Where to stay in Corfu Town?

Now if you want to be close to Corfu Town, but have access to better beaches, you should consider Dassia. 

This beachfront village is situated about 10 km from Corfu Town, and you can easily take a local bus to get to the city.

Where to stay in Dassia?

• TOP Pick: Senses Suites
• Budget Option: Villa Karmar by Go4sea  
• Luxury Option: Rodostamo Hotel & Spa

Another alternative to staying in Corfu Town is Benitses. This small seafront village is situated south of Corfu Town, and it is well connected by public transport. 

The buses going to Benitses are local Blue buses, so more frequent than intercity Green buses. 

It is a good compromise if you want to be close to the beaches and public transport! 

While Benitses Beach is right in the city center, it is not as beautiful as some of the other beaches on the island. Also, you might not enjoy the beach right next to the busy road passing through the village.

Sidari is a popular resort town in northwest Corfu, and I stayed there for 2 nights exploring the northern Corfu. 

I loved how the town was close to several impressive Corfu landmarks like Canal d’Amour and Cape Drastis.

You can easily take a bus from Sidari to Corfu Town for a day in the city. There is also a bus to Kassiopi if you’d like to visit another fishing village in the area.

Paleokastritsa

Paleokastritsa is one of the best places to stay on Corfu’s western coast without a car. 

This seafront village is well connected to Corfu Town by public transport and there are so many things to do in Paleokastritsa !

From beach hopping to hiking and sightseeing, it is one of the most diverse areas to stay in Corfu.

How To Get Around Corfu Without A Car

If you don’t hire a car in Corfu, you can get around by:

• intercity bus
• joining organized tours 

Sure, you also rent a scooter or a quad. However, in my opinion, that’s the same as renting a car as you can reach all the same spots as easily!

Public Transport In Corfu

The most budget-friendly way to get around is a local bus.

There are two types of buses in Corfu: Blue buses and Green buses . 

Blue buses are Corfu city buses . Those are local Corfu Town bus lines that connect different neighborhoods of the city and several nearby villages including Dassia, Benitses, and Pelekas.

City buses are frequent and affordable. You can see the itineraries and departure times online to plan the trip.

Further villages are connected to Corfu Town by Green intercity buses . These buses depart from the Green bus terminal in Corfu Town, and you can buy the tickets at the terminal or online.

You’ll need to take an intercity bus to places like Kavos, Paleokastritsa, or Sidari.

Buses are more frequent on some routes than others, so you’ll need to check the itineraries.

Corfu Taxis

You won’t have an issue finding a taxi in Corfu. However, you might have an issue financing frequent taxi rides.

When you compare it to the average prices in Corfu , taxis are not cheap if you want to use them for day trips around the island.

One of the reasons I don’t like taxis is that prices can be unpredictable. 

I get very stressed sitting in that car not knowing how much money the taxi driver will ask once we arrive at the destination.

Luckily, there is an Uber in Corfu and you can see exactly how much the ride will cost you when booking it!

Also, you can book a transfer with Welcome Pickups or arrange a pick-up with your hotel and they can tell you the price in advance. 

As I said, Corfu taxis aren’t cheap – expect to pay around 50€ for a 20km trip. 

Also, there are boat taxis in certain areas too! Like a boat transfer from Sidari to Cape Drastis or Agios Georgios to Porto Timoni.

Joining Tours

Finally, joining organized tours is the best way to discover the island and make friends as a solo traveler.

You don’t have to do complex maths to figure out exactly how much time can you spend at each location to catch the next bus and figure out bus lines and bus stops.

It is also a great way to explore the island if you don’t have many days in Corfu , as you can visit multiple attractions in one day. 

Corfu Itinerary Without A Car

So, what activities should you add to your Corfu itinerary if you don’t have a car?

Honestly, you can do almost everything you would do with a car!

Of course, there are some differences. You might not be able to visit some of the more remote villages which are not on the public transport route, or you might have to pay a bit more to join a tour to take you there. 

What I didn’t like about getting around by public transport was that you can’t really visit multiple locations on the same day. 

You’ll have to commit to one or two activities a day and make sure that they work logistically if you need to take multiple buses in a day.

However, remember that most people coming to Corfu don’t rent a car, and still have a fantastic time on the island!

If you need a sample itinerary, here is how I suggest you spend 7 days in Corfu without a car:

• DAY 1 : Corfu Town sightseeing
• DAY 2 : Day trip to Paleokastritsa by bus
• DAY 3 : Day trip to Sidari, Canal d’Amour and Cape Drastis by bus
• DAY 4 : Boat tour to Paxos and Antipaxos
• DAY 5 : Beach day and sunset at Kaiser’s Throne by bus
• DAY 6 : Corfu mountain villages tour
• DAY 7 : Beach day or Corfu Town before a flight home

Of course, you can add more activities, rearrange the days, or spend more days on the beach depending on how active you want your holiday.

So, here are the best things to do in Corfu you don’t need a car for!

1. Stroll The Cobblestone Streets Of Corfu Old Town

Corfu Old Town is the best place to stay in Corfu without a car and is easily the most picturesque area of the island.

I love the Venetian architecture, colorful houses, and cobblestone streets of this seafront town. 

Some of the main tourist attractions are the Venetian Fortress, the burgundy Holy Metropolitan Church, and the Holy Church of Saint Spyridon, known for its painted ceiling.

However, my favorite thing to do in Corfu Town was to wander the cobblestone streets and admire the architecture.

I loved taking narrow winding streets and finding hidden corners and unique restaurants. 

2. Take A Greek Cooking Class

If you’re a fan of Greek cuisine like I am, you can join this cooking class in Corfu and learn how to make all the Greek delicacies at home too!

It is a really fun inside look into the local life. You’ll start by browsing the local market and then heading to their family home to cook with freshly sourced ingredients.

3. Enjoy Corfu Beaches

You don’t need a car to enjoy Corfu beaches. 

It can be even easier to go to the beach by public transport as you don’t have to worry about finding parking. 

Yes, the best beaches in Corfu can get crowded, but you can only imagine how crowded small parking lots get!

You can reach so many beaches by public transport. The quickest and the easiest are the beach towns around Corfu Town like Dassia, Ipsos, or Benitses. 

However, you can also take a bus to Paleokastritsa, Kassiopi, Barbati, and Glyfada Beach. 

4. Go On A Boat Tour

If you want to discover more remote and secluded beaches without a car, you can join one of many boat tours from Corfu !

There is no shortage of different sailing routes you can choose, whether you want to discover the northern or southern coast of the island. 

You can even take a boat tour to the beaches in mainland Greece!

I found this full-day cruise with lunch and drinks to be the best value-for-money tour of the island.

It is a full-day sailing cruise where you’ll get to discover some of the most picturesque beaches and see Corfu’s famous landmarks. 

Drinks and lunch are included, so all you have to do is relax and enjoy the day!

5. Visit Paleokastritsa

A day trip to Paleokastritsa is one of the easiest day trips in Corfu by public transport. 

I like Paleokastritsa because there are so many things to do in the area you don’t need a car for!

You can go sightseeing and visit Paleokastritsa Monastery, go on a hike to Lakones village and admire the stunning view over the island, or stay on the beach and see the unique Blue Eye Cave.

6. Watch Sunset From Kaiser’s Throne

The small hilltop village of Pelaks is home to one of the best spots for watching the sunset in Corfu – Kaiser’s Throne. 

Pelekas is situated about 10 km from Corfu Town and is easy to visit by frequent city bus line 11.

Kaiser’s Throne is a historic observation deck offering some of the island’s best views!

You get a full 360 view of the island and it is a fantastic spot to watch the sunset or sunrise if you visit in the low season when sunrise is later!

7. Swim In Canal d’Amour

Canal d’Amour could be the most romantic spot in Corfu. At least that’s what the legend says!

The unique landscape of Canal d’Amour is known for a local legend that if you swim in the canal with your lover you’ll stay together forever. 

But wait, there’s more!

If you’re single and you swim to the edge of the canal, you’ll find love. See, there’s something for everyone!

Jokes aside, it is a unique landscape to admire even if you don’t swim.

8. Admire Cape Drastis

I was completely mesmerized when I first saw the cliffs along the northwestern coast of Corfu. It looked nothing like the eastern coast or the sandy beaches in the south.

While driving is the easiest way to get here, you can also take a boat shuttle from Sidari Beach or walk to the Cape and take a boat back!

9. Discover Corfu Mountain Villages

One of my favorite things to do in Corfu is to explore all the quaint villages in Corfu . They are usually not as touristic as beach resort towns, so you can enjoy the authentic local atmosphere. 

Unfortunately, most of these villages are not easy to reach by public transport. 

To be fair, I’d be worried if I’m driving in Corfu and see a bus heading in my direction on some of the roads leading to these villages!

However, you can always join a tour! This North Corfu tour takes you to several mountain villages, including the oldest village on the island – Old Perithia.

10. Go On A Day Trip To Paxos And Antipaxos

Island hopping is one of the best things to do in Greece, so you should add it to your Corfu itinerary too!

The closest islands to Corfu are Paxos and Antipaxos and you can take a ferry or join a boat tour to visit them.

While I like organizing activities, joining a boat tour is more affordable and easier than getting a ferry. 

Of course, it won’t be cheaper if you go for a luxury private cruise , but you can find Paxos group tours for under 50€ per person!

Yes, you can explore Corfu without a car by taking local buses or joining organized tours. Corfu has a reliable and frequent bus network, connecting Corfu Town to almost every tourist attraction on the islands. 

Corfu is a large island, and it would take you a week to walk from north to south of the island. However, Corfu towns and villages are very walkable once you reach them. Even the main Corfu Town is compact and you don’t need a car to explore.

Corfu is so diverse, so you can choose to have a relaxing beach holiday or go on adventures every day. I spent a week exploring the island, and there were still things on my wishlist that I had to save for the next time. 

A reliable and frequent public transport network makes it easy to get around the island, and you can always join fun and creative tours to reach more remote areas.

The Ultimate Corfu Travel Guide

Corfu – is it the perfect Greek island escape? When looking for a Greek island vacation, Corfu is not the first island that comes to mind for me. I always think of Santorini or Mykonos and Corfu often slips to the bottom of the list. That was until we discovered that one of the best luxury all-inclusive hotels in Europe is located in Corfu. Let me tell you, finding a luxury all-inclusive hotel in Europe that not only has superb decor, amenities and reviews BUT exquisite food to match is not an easy feat. You either get one or the other but never the full package. It wasn’t until we started to research Corfu properly as a Greek island destination we might want to visit that we realised what amazing things Corfu had to offer. This Corfu travel guide will share all our favourite sights, places to eat delicious authentic food and where to stay in style.

Corfu is different to most other Greek islands, mainly because it is covered in lush green vegetation and mountainous terrain. With over 217km of coastline and plentiful sandy beaches with turquoise water, a beautiful romantic old town and a rich cultural heritage, Corfu is a surprisingly fantastic island to visit for your vacation.

Due to its location off the northwest coast of Greece, Corfu is the most northern of the Greek islands. It is also one of 7 islands that make up the Ionian Islands. Rain falls in winter creating a lush green landscape of olive trees and cypresses followed by warm, sunny and dry summers.

The island of Corfu in Greece also has a town of Corfu, Kerkyra  in Greek. Also known as Corfu Old Town, you can see Venetian influences due to the four centuries that it was under Venetian rule from 1386 until 1797. Corfu’s Old Town features Renaissance, baroque and classical architecture, old fortresses and a 19th-century Liston, a promenade on the central square, with arcades and cafes. If you are looking for a culturally rich and relaxing island to visit in Greece, then why not visit Corfu?

IKOS Dassia 5* All Inclusive Hotel

I can’t talk about the best luxury all-inclusive hotel in Europe without telling you what it’s called or why it is so fantastic. Read on to discover why you will be adding this hotel to your bucket list and why we included it in our Corfu travel guide.

The Ikos Dassia Experience

We stayed at the Ikos Dassia all-inclusive hotel for the first 5 nights of our trip to Corfu. Our plan was to find a modern luxury oceanfront hotel that offered an unparalleled all-inclusive experience. It did not disappoint . We wanted to simply have a luxuriously relaxing stay, and drink cocktails all day by the pool whilst gorging on delicious food. From the moment we arrived in our taxi, we were personally greeted by the concierge outside the hotel and taken to check-in in the most beautiful lobby which instantly made us gasp “wow” out loud. Champagne and gin and tonic (our drinks of choice) were served as our personal concierge showed us maps of the resort on an iPad and then walked us to our hotel room. Instantly, we knew this holiday was going to be amazing.

The Rooms at Ikos Dassia

Our room was booked as an inland view room, one of the cheapest categories on offer. Before we travelled, I emailed reservations and requested to have a room that was not facing the main road. (Tripadvisor reviews really do give the best tips). To our surprise, this meant we had a room with a partial ocean view for no extra cost.

The rooms are bright and modernly decorated with a simple luxurious feel. They include a fully stocked mini-bar (beer, wine, local spirits and soft drinks) that is included in the rate. It can be refilled with your favourite drinks on a daily basis. They also serve 24-hour room service which is quite handy if you fancy breakfast in bed or a late-night dessert snack.

The Ikos Dassia hotel has 2 buildings – Sea and Sky. Each has its own rooms and buffet restaurant. The Sea building is more appropriate for families and the Sky building is perfect for couples. I would request which building you would like before visiting as the vibes are quite different. The property really does cater for all types of travellers.

Dining at Ikos Dassia

There are 5 main restaurants at Ikos Dassia offering Michelin star chef-created menus. Our favourites were Anaya, for mouth-watering Asian cuisine and Provence for the delicious French fare. We didn’t particularly like the Flavors buffet and would recommend eating in the a la carte restaurants. You can pre-book these before you arrive at the resort to ensure you get a table at a reasonable time and can experience each one. Luckily the concierge is there to help with all your needs prior to visiting. And yes, before you ask – you can order as many dishes as you want. This was perfect for Anaya and being able to experience a variety of Japanese dishes.

Experiences at Ikos Dassia

Book a Mini Drive Adventure ! Ikos Dassia offers the complimentary opportunity to drive a Mini Cooper for the day to explore the island of Corfu. This was such a great unique touch and we really enjoyed adventuring around Corfu on our own.

The wine tasting experience at Ergon . As part of the all-inclusive experience at Ikos Dassia, you are able to enjoy wine tasting. One might think, why would you do this when all the wine is included anyway? Well, let me tell you this, the wealth of knowledge we gained from the sommelier, along with the delicious food pairings made this a very educational and fun experience.

Sunset boat cruise around the island. A not very well-advertised perk of staying at Ikos Dassia is the opportunity to go on a complimentary sunset cruise. Unfortunately, the night that we had pre-booked (ensure you do this before arriving) was raining so it didn’t sail. However, we did watch the boat leave on previous evenings and it looked absolutely fantastic sailing into the sunset.

Dine out on authentic greek food in the renowned local restaurants with the Dine Out Culinary Experience all included in your stay.

Overall Score 10/10

All of these wonderful amenities are on top of the multiple beautiful pools including waiter service, all-day access to ice cream, insanely beautiful bars and views. Ikos Dassia was hands down one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. We highly recommend staying here if you want the luxury all-inclusive experience at a reasonable price.

Bella Venezia 3* Boutique Hotel

On this trip, we wanted to experience Corfu Old Town and booked this hotel extremely last minute. We had planned on staying at another accommodation, however, they let us down whilst we were actually on our holiday in Corfu. So a last-minute search led us to Bella Venezia and we couldn’t have been happier that they had availability.

This traditional boutique hotel is ideally located close to the centre of Corfu Old Town and is a restored neoclassical mansion. Enjoy alfresco dining in their glorious courtyard garden with a gazebo sunroom and wisteria-adorned trellis. The breakfast is a traditional Greek breakfast and the rooms are classically designed. We highly recommend staying at Bella Venezia when you visit Corfu Old Town.

Corfu is one of those islands with little in the way of tourist attractions. You come here to relax on the beach, enjoy the culturally rich old town and explore the island’s wonderful natural beauty.

Inspired by a stunning photo on Instagram, we visited La Grotta in Corfu on our day trip from Ikos Dassia in the Mini Cooper. On the way to Paleokastritsa, imagine a secret cove located down 142 winding steps. Set at the base of the cliff with a sparkling turquoise lagoon below. The waves gently splash on the rocks that make up part of the beach bar that is built into the cliff. People jump off the turquoise blue diving board and snorkelers gather to swim around the rocky shore. We arrived before the beach cafe had opened and so had the lagoon to ourselves for a while before visitors started to appear. As we visited in the offseason it was a lot quieter than what we had heard it can be in peak season. We didn’t need to purchase anything from the bar in order to swim there, however the bar was closed when we arrived. When the bar did open we wanted to stop for a drink however no one served us for quite some time so we left.

Corfu Old Town

Corfu Old Town was named by UNESCO a world heritage site and is beautifully preserved with stunning Venetian architecture. Set on the East coast of Corfu island, the old town faces the border of mainland Greece and Albania. With a rich and abundant history, Corfu Old town is an absolute must-visit for your trip to Corfu island.

Historic monuments are nestled in between the charming cobbled streets and romantic, colourful buildings. The Venetian influences rose from the middle ages when Corfu was under Venetian rule for over 4 centuries. You would be forgiven for thinking that you were strolling through the streets of Venice due to how large the influences are here. It is quite honestly, a magnificent and unique old town.

There is no set itinerary recommendation for visiting the old town as you simply want to just wander the cobbled streets and get “lost”. Discover quaint cafes nestled into hidden cosy corners and admire the characteristic facades of the buildings.

A few points of interest for visiting Corfu Old Town are listed below to help you navigate a few of the must-sees:

Taking a page out of Venice’s book replicating St Marks’s Square vibe. With charming arcades forming a romantic background for the aristocrats in yonder years, this is the perfect place to come for an evening promenade, eat dinner or stop for coffee under the shade of the umbrellas.

Saint Spyridon Church

A Greek Orthodox church that was built in the 1500s with the highest bell tower in the Ionian islands. You can see the church peeking out from the cobbled lanes and it makes a truly fantastic photo. Watch out for traditional Greek weddings that happen here, it is wonderfully romantic.

The Old Fortress

Sitting on a peninsula on the East coast of Corfu’s Old Town, with 360-degree panoramic views of the Ionian sea and UNESCO World Heritage old town, the Old Fortress is a sight to behold. The Venetian-built fortress was erected to protect Corfu town from invaders in the Byzantine era. Access to the fortress is via the Contrafrossa , a moat that enabled the fortress to withstand three major sieges. Tickets are just 6 Euros to enter and are well worth purchasing.

The New Venetian Fortress

Built on the hill of St Mark on the west side of Corfu town is the fortress of Agios Markos. This magnificent fortress can be seen from the old port and is built over two levels. The New Fortress was built to fortify the defence of Corfu as the Old Fortress was no longer enough. This fortress is a great addition to visiting the Old Fortress and only costs a few Euros to enter, sometimes even free.

Plakada t’ Agioú Square

We stumbled upon Plakada t’ Agioú Square as we were wandering the old town streets. Located near Saint Spyridon church, this colourful square is one of the most central and historic points in the old town of Corfu. The beautifully colourful buildings adorned with white shutters make you feel like you have stepped into a bygone era.

Kapodistrias Statue

To get incredible views of the Old Fortress, head to the Kapodistrias Statue. Located only a few minutes stroll through a park from the centre of the old town, you will find sweeping coastal views here including the magnificent Old Fortress.

Porto Timoni

On our list of places to visit in Corfu was Port Timoni, for obvious beautiful reasons. However, we did not get to visit it whilst we were there and felt I had to add it to the list of places to visit as it simply looks amazing. Access involves a little hiking and you need a car to access the car park, there are no facilities and so coming here isn’t for the faint-hearted. The views just look simply breathtaking.

Paleokastritsa

We visited Paleokastritsa due to its close proximity to La Grotta. It is quite a pleasant area with a monastery on top of a hill, olive tree forests and clear blue ocean views. It is a very small rural resort, with quite pretty views, however, we only stayed for a very short time (probably less than an hour) as we felt it didn’t quite offer what the internet had described. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

All of the restaurants I am recommending in this post are located in Corfu Old Town as we spent part of our trip eating in the all-inclusive restaurants at Ikos Dassia. Since most visitors will be spending some time in the old town these are our must-visit restaurants for your visit.

We found Abakas the usual way that we find our favourite places to eat – via Trip Advisor. It gets 5/5 and is No.4 of all the restaurants in Corfu Town. We were not disappointed by the delicious local Mediterranean food served for a very reasonable price. Think large portions of succulent grilled meats, fresh salads for 10-15 Euros and wine for only 5 Euros for half a carafe! Set a little away from the usual tourist traps, Abakas is a must-visit and worth arriving early or booking a table as it’s very popular with locals and tourists. We went twice we loved it so much in the short time we were in the old town.

Pane E Souvlaki

Pane E Souvlaki is located in the centre of Corfu Old Town in a beautiful building overlooking the Old Town Hall of Corfu and a bustling picturesque courtyard. There’s alfresco seating and cute, albeit small balconies with wonderful views. They serve delicious traditional Greek food with their main special being the Souvlaki, which is mouth-wateringly good. We hadn’t planned on coming here, but as we were sitting in a restaurant opposite that was serving up mediocre food, we popped over and are very glad we did so.

To Mikavziko

If you are looking for a traditional Greek dish to take away whilst wandering the cobbled streets of Corfu Old Town, then pop into To Mikavziko. This little hole-in-the-wall establishment serves Gyros (pronounced yee-rro) for just a couple of Euros and makes the perfect takeaway lunch.

Flying to Corfu

You will fly into Corfu International Airport (airport code CFU), also known as Ioannis Kapodistrias, located only a short 5-minute drive from the old town. There are direct flights to Corfu from most airports in the UK with the flight only taking around 3 hours.

We flew from Bristol with Easyjet and for a week’s trip, with just hand luggage that fits underneath the seat in front of you (you will be surprised how much this fits), it cost us £156 for 2 people return. We travelled during the low season (October) and prices can peak higher during the Summer.

You can also fly from mainland Greece with flights from Athens taking only an hour.

Ferry to Corfu

If you are in Greece living out your Mamma Mia dreams and island hopping, you can also catch the ferry to Corfu. The closest ferry departs from mainland Greece from Igoumenitsa and takes 1 hour. Bear in mind that Corfu is located in the Northernmost part of Greece on the West Coast and is the furthest Greek island to travel to.

Corfu is a large island, about 585km² and if you compare this to another Greek island like Santorini for example which is only 76km², you will need some sort of transport if you want to see different sights.

Hiring a Car in Corfu

Hiring a car is the most ideal situation as many places you would want to visit are off the beaten path. However, if you are planning a trip to spend a week on the beach in an all-inclusive hotel, you could easily get away with taking a taxi or the local bus for the odd trip.

Taxis in Corfu

Taxis are available easily in Corfu and are handy to use if you need a late-night transfer or want a private alternative to a shared shuttle. To give you an idea of taxi prices in Corfu, we pre-booked a taxi from Corfu International Airport to our hotel, Ikos Dassia, and the total cost for 2 people was approximately £28. The journey was 13km and takes 20 minutes.

Top Tip: We did notice that the prices of taxis from Corfu Old Town to Corfu International Airport were quite expensive given the distance. They cost up to 20 Euros for a 4-5 minute journey (around a 2km distance) and there are cheaper alternatives. You can walk which takes about 20 minutes or catch the local bus number 15 for 1,10 Euro in advance or 1,70 Euro on board.

Local Buses in Corfu

There are local buses in Corfu that you can easily use to travel around the island on a budget. The Blue buses are used for short distances and the Green buses travel further around the island. Fares are only a few euros and make travelling without a car in Corfu a breeze. Also handy if you want to have a few cocktails at lunch and don’t want to worry about driving. Some of the bus journey durations are also similar to taking a car.

North-east corfu, north-west corfu.

Horseshoe-shaped Kalami Bay attracts beach-going families and sailing yachts to its protected waters and pebbled shores, fringed with olive and pine trees, and blooming with brightly coloured flowers in spring. In this natural playground that was so beloved of the Durrell family, youngsters dangle, mesmerised, at the edge of wooden jetties foraging for undersea life. Yachties tie their dinghies to the dock below  The White House , the former home of the Durrells, checking into the onsite restaurant to relish steamed cockles in the sunshine. Long, narrow Barbati beach is located at the foot of the imposing Pantokrator Massif – Corfu’s tallest mountain – which stands at 2,972 ft (906m). Barbati is known for its stark white flat pebbles that show off crisp, aqua-tinged translucent waters. Couples, in particular, frequent this beach, lazing about on the many sun loungers and ordering freddo espresso from beach bars that double as restaurants. Beachgoers can sate their appetite in the shade of eucalyptus trees. There is easy access by road and parking available. Arrive early to nab a good spot on the beach.

Simple cottages in hues of pale yellow and salmon huddle around Kaminaki beach in the homonymous hamlet, which has barely changed over the years. Strewn with pebbles and sand, this tiny beach has a smattering of umbrellas and draws devout regulars in search of an annual dose of sun-soaked serenity. Children spend hours snorkelling around the rocks at either end of the beach. Boat rental and water sports such as stand up paddle boarding and water skiing are on offer. At the western end of the beach, The Rocks (0030 2663 091374) serves old-school Greek taverna fare, such as masterfully-chargrilled sea bass and village-style sausages, on the water’s edge.

Framed by a verdant hilly backdrop dotted with holiday apartments and two hotels, long, sandy Glyfada is one of Corfu’s busiest beaches. Families love it as there are ample umbrellas and sun beds, a couple of seafront tavernas and refreshments readily available. Locals and visitors flock to Pazuzu beach bar for sunset parties featuring international DJs. If you prefer a more serene scene, stick to the northern end of the beach, which is well protected from the wind that sometimes blows in from the Adriatic. Naturist-exclusive Myrtiotissa, which Lawrence Durrell enthusiastically described as the world’s loveliest beach, is a short drive north.

Kontogialos

A winding road descends gently through Pelekas village down to Kontogialos beach, past olive groves cascading down the hillside. Families adore this sweeping curve of a beach that measures some 98ft (30m) wide for its golden sand and shallow emerald waters. Once a hippie haven, Kontogialos also lures a young crowd thanks to its relative proximity to Corfu town. Umbrellas and sun beds abound though there is plenty of space to lay out a towel. To the north is a minuscule beach hidden in the shade of an impressive sheer rock face rising up out of the sea.

Getting there: City Bus 11 to Pelekas 

Issos beach is, perhaps, the island’s most jaw-droppingly spectacular beach. Some one and a half miles (two and a half kilometres) long, this untamed stretch of fine, golden sand sits below high, rolling sand dunes. Explore the dunes, where sand orchids grow, and a rare cedar forest that reaches the shores of Lake Korission, Corfu’s most significant wetland habit. There are sunbeds at the southern end, however, it’s more peaceful the further north you go, which makes it popular with naturists. With its steady winds and flat seas, Issos is ideal for windsurfer and sailing catamaran newbies who can hire kit. Bring wine and treats to celebrate a sublime sunset.

Getting there: Green bus B6 to Issos

Seemingly endless Halikounas beach, separated from Issos by a small rocky cape, snakes along some two miles (three kilometres) and backs onto Lake Korission. Families tend to prefer the northern end, where there are a few sun loungers, whereas those seeking a little privacy head south. It's also one of Corfu’s best kitesurfing and windsurfing spots, so it attracts the more experienced, who bring gear or rent onsite. Visit in the late afternoon and wait until the sun casts a bronze glow on this narrow strip of soft fawn sand. You’ll find it hard to resist a solitary, soul-reviving run along a wild, near-empty beach.

Shortly after entering Paleokastritsa and before you reach the bustling main beach of Agios Spyridon, you will find picture-perfect Verderosa tucked below a cliff. Walk down stone steps lined with green and red railings to the small sandy sliver of a pebbled beach where orange and yellow chaise longues match the blazing sun and palms painted on the faded exterior of a restaurant that once was. If this beach had a soundtrack, it would be reggae. A favourite with couples for its tranquility, Verderosa enjoys views of Paleokastritsa’s small harbour, where boats can be rented to reach otherwise inaccessible beaches like Stelari.

Agios Stefanos Avliotes

The sheer length and breadth of Agios Stefanos Avliotes is guaranteed to stir the heart of even the savviest beachgoer. This open sandy expanse is more reminiscent of those in Australia. No matter that there are sun lounger and umbrellas aplenty, nature has provided infinite space so you can find your own slice of solitude. Shallow waters make it excellent for children and a regular, gentle breeze is welcome in the height of summer. Tavernas, restaurants and cafés are nearby, as are beach supplies. Small ferry boats depart from here for the Diapontia islets of Erikousa, Mathraki and Othoni.

Porto Timoni

It takes a good 20 to 25 minutes to navigate the twisting rocky path from Afionas village down to Porto Timoni but the reward is a lifelong memory of experiencing one of Greece’s great beaches. Many a young family with babes in arms barely flinches at the trek. It's composed of twin pristine sandy coves with crystalline aquamarine seas facing one another, meaning when viewed from a minute lookout ledge on the trail, they are knock-out astounding. The eastern facing beach is at its most gorgeous in the early hours of the day and the westerly side is, clearly, made for sunset and entwined lovers.

Agios Georgios Pagon

Horseshoe-shaped Agios Georgios Pagon, not to be confused with Agios Georgios Argyradon beach in the south, measures 1.2 miles (two kilometres) long, so it never feels crowded. This easy-to-access, well-sheltered beach retains a distinct Ionian throwback feel. There are umbrella and sun lounger sets but also ample room to ground yourself on the sand and finely-pebbled shore which shelves gently into cerulean waters. Aside from various water sports, a reef close to shore keeps youngsters busy snorkelling for hours and gives parents peace of mind. Catch a fiery sunset from Fisherman’s Cabin, a tiny real-deal fish taverna reachable on foot.

From saving on gas to driving with kids, here's your ultimate road trip planner

Ina Daly has spent most of her life on the road.

“My dad was a truck driver and that led me to becoming a truck driver,” she said. “What we do in a day, on a daily job would be like a long road trip to most people.”

With nearly 40 years of driving for freight transportation services provider XPO and numerous industry accolades under her belt, including grand champion at this year’s Arizona Truck Driving Championship , Daly is a pro. She’s also a mom and a grandmother who’s happy to share her experiences to make everyone’s road trips better.

“Some of the things I'm telling you are what we truckers tell our family members,” she said. “I've had a lot of accomplishments in my career and going to the National Truck Driving Championships (this month) is a reward, but the bigger reward is being able to share some things … that have the potential to save lives.”

What to do before a long drive

“Make sure that your vehicle’s road trip ready,” Daly said. ”Really pay close attention to your tires, your coolant, your fan belt.”

She notes tire dealers often offer free inspections to ensure tires are properly inflated and undamaged.

AAA spokesperson Aixa Diaz advises getting the whole car serviced before hitting the road.

“If you're a car person and you can, do that yourself at home, by all means,” she said. Otherwise, she recommends getting the oil changed and battery and tires checked professionally. 

To save time and avoid stress, Diaz also suggests filling up on gas the night before leaving and making hotel reservations well in advance, noting that many hotels allow cancellations without penalty up until the day beforehand. 

What do you need before a road trip?

It’s always good to keep an emergency kit with supplies like first aid, a flashlight and extra batteries, and basic tools in the vehicle.

“You want to make sure that if you do have a tire issue, you have the proper tools and jacks in your vehicle to be able to change it,” Daly said. She said warning signals like reflective triangles can also warn other drivers to steer clear in the event of a breakdown.

For road trips, both she and Diaz recommend shelf-stable snacks like protein bars that won’t melt and plenty of water. “Don't think that a bottle or two for everybody is enough,” Daly said. “You've got to have, you know, five or six bottles for everyone.” 

Diaz also recommends wet wipes, blankets during the winter, and any time-sensitive medication or pet food that might be needed in the event of an extended delay.

“These things ideally wouldn't take up too much room in your trunk but they're just good to have in case of an emergency,” Diaz said. “Just think, ‘If I were stuck for a long time, what would keep me comfortable until I was able to (get) help?’”  

A printed map and a general sense of the route can also help in case there GPS hiccups or a phone dies.  AAA’s free TripTik planner can help travelers plot their trips in advance and find rest stops, lodging, food and gas along the way. What I should know before a road trip?

“Everything can be a distraction in the car – the radio, the kids, etc. But the phone is a big one,” Daly advised. “When you’re driving, that thing should not ever be in your hand.”

More than 3,500 people were killed on U.S. roads in 2021 because of distracted driving, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration . 

Daly also recommends watching out for distracted drivers.

“You can tell a distracted driver by their fluctuating speed,” she warned. “They're drifting in their lane. Their head is looking down instead of focusing on the road. You want to give those people a wide berth.”

How long will a road trip take?

Road trips always take longer than expected because of traffic, construction and other things that arise en route.

Diaz says to expect at least an hour longer than whatever the GPS predicts. Daly recommends leaving at least two hours early.

“You don't want that stressful drive,” Daly said. “You’re hurrying. That lends to bad driving behaviors like tailgating and speeding, which leads to accidents. Don’t put yourself in that situation.”

How many hours a day should you drive on a road trip?

“It just varies so much from person to person, how long they’re comfortable driving,” Diaz said. “We want to err on the side of safety. We want people to be safe on the roads and drive the speed limit and not rush it, but everybody's different.”

Switching out drivers can lighten the load, but no matter who is driving, Daly said, “If you're starting to feel a little, less attentive, maybe a little fatigued, it’s time to take a break.”

What time is best to drive?

“We always recommend, especially during the holidays, leave early in the morning,” Diaz said. “The later you leave in the day, the worse it's going to be because a lot of times during the week … you're going to mix with those commuters on the road.”

“Some people enjoy night driving,” she added. “Once you get to like 8 p.m., 9 p.m. traffic comes down a lot.” 

However, she noted drivers who leave in the evening should watch out for fatigue and plan to drive less than if they started fresh in the morning.

How do you take a good road trip with kids? 

When possible, Daly recommends having a designated passenger to help with kids so the driver can focus on the road.  

Another important thing is to keep seatbelts on the whole way.

“Kids have a tendency to take those off,” Daly said. “Make sure they stay buckled up. I've seen some horrible things out there.”

What do kids need on a road trip?

Entertainment helps pass the time, but it doesn’t have to be digital. There are all sorts of screen-free road trip games . 

Diaz recommends printing a map or list of sites or cities for kids to watch for along the way.

“You know, yell it out or mark it on your sheet,” she said. “Have some crayons in the car with them so they're following along on the trip, and they feel like they're part of it.”

“Point out historical landmarks and scenery; enjoy nature,” Daly echoed. “That's one of the things that we truck drivers love about our jobs is we get to see the country and nature.”

Stop at points of interest every few hours or simply for everyone to stretch their legs.

And for those times when kids are on screens, make sure to pack car chargers.

What is the best way to save gas?

Don’t speed. 

“Fuel economy peaks at around 50 miles per hour on most cars, and then it drops off as the speeds increase,” Diaz said. “You think, ‘OK, if I just go 70, I'm going to get there faster, and it'll be better,’ but essentially, you're just wasting gas at that point." Fuel economy can be increased by as much as 15% by reducing highway speeds by 5 to 10 miles per hour, she said.

Don’t idle unnecessarily either, like at rest stops.

“Your car engine consumes about a quarter to a half a gallon of fuel per hour while it's idling,” she said. “But a warm engine only takes about 10 seconds’ worth of fuel to restart, so if it's safe to do so, just shut off your engine.”

What happens if my tire blows out?

“When you blow a tire, kaboom, it freaks you out. Do not panic,” Daly said. “Don't slow down abruptly or brake hard or jerk the wheel because that will cause you to lose control and have an accident.”

“Just focus on steering,” she added. “Slow very gradually, off to the side of the road in a safe area, and you won’t have any issue from your blown tire.”

How do you drive around semitrucks?

“Be aware of our needs and limitations,” Daly said. “You know we’re big. We need a lot of space around us. We have big blind spots. … If you can’t see the truck driver’s face in the mirrors of the truck, the truck driver can’t see you.”

She advised against passing on the right. 

“If you have to pass quickly, don’t linger over there. We see people driving over there for the shade (and it) puts us in a very dangerous situation,” she said. “And don’t cut in front of us and then hit your breaks. People don’t like to follow a truck because they can’t see around us, so they pass us and then cut in front of us.”

“It takes away that safety cushion we leave in front of us,” she added. “When you see all that space in front of a truck, that's not for your convenience so that you can pass us and cut into it. That’s for our safety and yours.”

By the same token, she advised fellow drivers to leave plenty of space in front of their own vehicles, so they have enough room to stop quickly in an emergency. If another driver cuts into that space, she suggested, “Take a break. Slow down again. Recreate that space. Bite your tongue and think pure thoughts.”

That last tip may not be so easy.

West Palm Beach father arrested after leaving toddler in hot car during shopping trip

A 3-year-old was rescued from a hot SUV in the Sam’s Club parking lot off 45th Street in West Palm Beach last Saturday, May 11, 2024. Police said her father went to do Mother's Day shopping and forgot he left his toddler in the car. (WPEC)

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Hot cars can become deadly for children in a matter of minutes, according to recent studies . It almost happened to a 3-year-old girl in West Palm Beach over the weekend.

42-year-old Raul Rielo-Fernandez was arrested, accused of leaving his daughter in the backseat of his parked SUV without the engine running to go shopping. It was a scorching hot day, police said.

The incident occurred in the Sam’s Club parking lot, located off 45th Street in West Palm Beach last Saturday afternoon.

“Good Samaritans apparently opened the car. It was unlocked and took the child out of the car seat,” West Palm Beach police spokesman Mike Jachles said. “When they found the girl, she was profusely sweating. She was red, flushed and crying.”

Police said Fernandez forgot he left his daughter in the vehicle.

“He went inside apparently to do Mother’s Day shopping. That’s what he told police,” Jachles said.

In surveillance videos from police, the father can be seen on his phone, walking inside Sam’s Club. He was then spotted in the checkout line several minutes later.

“Then after he checks out, he goes into the liquor store for several minutes. Leaves the liquor store, proceeds back towards his car, sees the commotion. That’s when he realized he apparently left his daughter in the car,” Jachles said.

Fernandez was charged with Unattended Child in Motor Vehicle Excess of 15 minutes and Child Neglect Without Great Bodily Harm, a felony.

Officials determined his daughter was in the car for about 31 minutes.

“Certainly, it could’ve been deadly for that child,” Jachles said.

Officers determined the temperature in the car rose to at least 117 degrees Fahrenheit.

NHTSA: Childhood Heatstroke Prevention

Heatstroke happens when your core body temperature reaches 104 F (40 C) or higher. Heatstroke needs immediate medical attention to prevent permanent damage to your brain and other vital organs that can result in death, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Kids are more at risk, as children’s bodies warm three to five times faster than adult bodies, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Vehicles can heat up quickly, with temperatures rising 20 degrees in as little as 10 minutes, creating a deadly situation for a child locked inside. 29 children died from vehicular heatstroke nationwide, last year.

West Palm Beach police hope this recent arrest and close call serves as a reminder to all of us to slow down and remember who is with you, especially little ones who can’t fend for themselves.
