The best time to visit Doha is between October and the end of April, when temperatures are at their most comfortable, the humidity is down and the sun is enjoyable. Doha is never swamped with tourists, but if you are looking for the time when there's the most space by the pool, and you can withstand temperatures of 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46.1 degrees Celsius) in the shade, then opt for July and August, when most locals and expatriate workers tend to leave for cooler climes, leaving the hotels and pools empty. Hotels rates do not vary that much, but are slightly cheaper during the hot summer months.

Doha’s dry, subtropical desert climate can be a challenge between May and end of September, with scorching temperatures and a humidity level that leaves you feeling as if you have been slapped with a hot, wet towel as soon as you set foot outside—and if you wear glasses, leave you sightless for some time, while trying to get rid of the condensation on the lenses.

Even in the cooler winter months, the temperature rarely goes below 57 degrees Fahrenheit (13.8 degrees Celsius) , and while the handful of rainy days fall mostly in those months, the maximum rainfall is four inches per year. That said, those four inches sometimes fall in one big downpour and can leave the city unnavigable for a day or two.

Between October and end of April though, the weather is perfect. Sunshine every day, low humidity and temperatures a still warm 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit (15.5-21 degrees Celsius), with some highs in the 90s Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius).

When traveling to a Muslim country, you must be aware of the Holy Month of Ramadan, as the experience of the country will change dramatically during that month. The timings of Ramadan are calculated by the lunar calendar and the sighting of the moon, and the dates change by around 11 days every year. For example, in 2019 Ramadan was between May 5th and June 4th, and in 2018, it was observed between May 16th and June 14th. 

During the month of Ramadan, no eating and drinking is allowed between sunrise and sunset, meaning that even for non-Muslim visitors, chances to eat and drink are dramatically reduced, as most restaurants and cafes are closed during the day. Most hotels have a secluded area where guests can eat, but having a snack and a cocktail by the pool would not be happening.

But, Ramadan is also a time of joy and celebrations. Every evening, at sunset, families gather holding a date and cup of water to break their fast with the firing of the Ramadan cannon. Then there is Iftar, the breaking-the-fast meal, where families and friends gather, celebrate and enjoy their meal. Every hotel puts on special Iftar meals, often in elaborate tents in the gardens.

During Ramadan the daily routines change, with, for example, shopping malls opening after Iftar at night, and staying open until 2 or 3 a.m. You’ll find tennis lessons occurring in the middle of the night, and people milling around and walking the Corniche throughout the night.

So, if you are interested in experiencing this very important month in every Muslim’s life, then maybe time your visit to slightly overlap, so you can observe the occasion in part.

Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha

The other two important dates on the Muslim calendar are the two Eids — Eid meaning feast or festival. Eid al-Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is celebrated straight after Ramadan and lasts around three days. People sacrifice an animal, usually a sheep or goat, and you will see many people driving around with a goat in the back of the car. Families cook like crazy for friends and family, and it is a huge celebration with all the favorite foods, presents for the children and joyous get-togethers. 

Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, takes place around two months after Eid- al-Fitr and is the time when most Muslims, those that are able to or have not been before, go for the Haj Pilgrimage to Mecca. During both Eids, shops are often closed and that can cause some disappointment if you are not aware.

Weekends in Doha are Friday and Saturday, Sunday is the beginning of the week, with everybody returning to work. During the weekend, you’ll find that the hotel pools are overrun with locals and resident expatriate families, as most hotels double as a Leisure Club, meaning people buy memberships to use the pools, beaches and fitness areas with their families, and tend to spend all weekend by the water with their kids. So, if you want peace and quiet by the pool, maybe leave it until mid-week, if it is not school holidays, and explore the country on the weekend.

Doha holds many sporting events, and it is quite safe to assume that these will take place between October and April to catch the milder temperatures. Do check the local listings for events before you book, as many world class athletes flock to Qatar to play in off-season events.

The FIFA World Cup will be taking place in Doha in 2022, and held in air-conditioned stadiums around the city. Instead of in the summer months through, this championship is for once going to be shifted to the cooler month, again to make it easier on the players and all the visitors.

It is very rare in Qatar to get much advance warning on events, and since the country’s regular festivals are celebrated according to the lunar calendar the dates change every year, but here is a rough overview of what to expect. For confirmation, though, it is better to check closer to the time.

The highest average temperature is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius ) with around a max of 0.5 inches of rain. While people tend to enjoy the cooler temperatures, beaches and pools are deserted.

January also usually sees the Shopping Festival throughout the malls, with big discounts being offered, events for kids held in the malls, and raffles taking place.

It is still, relatively cool, and people tend to flock to sports events such as Golf championships and the Qatar Tennis Open.

Temperatures are perfect for all things outdoors, even the pools are beginning to looks good again. Sporting events usually taking place in March include the Qatar Masters (Golf), MotoGP Grand Prix of Qatar, tennis matches and gymnastics meets.

It is getting warmer and the pools and beaches are definitely calling. Depending on the year, Ramadan could start mid-to late April.

It’s starting to get warm, with temperatures reaching the 80s Fahrenheit (28 degrees Celsius). Depending on the month, Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr could take place in May.

The temperatures are in the 100s, reaching 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43 degrees Celsius ). Sporting events have pretty much ceased and schools are breaking up for the summer, so for a while, before everybody leaves, the hotel pools are going to be busy.

It’s hot and humid, and the city is deserted. Temperatures are up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius), humidity reaches 90 percent and higher. Eid al-Adha is likely to take place during July depending on the year.

It’s even hotter than July, stay indoors in the air-conditioning.

It's still hot, but humidity is lowering a little. Families return to the city and schools are open again.

The weather is lovely. Sporting events are starting up again.

Perfect weather to sit outside in the sun. Plenty of exhibitions and sporting events to enjoy.

Locals think it’s freezing, anybody else thinks it’s nice walking around with maybe a thin jacket. Plenty of events are happening this month, and, despite it being a Muslim country, Christmas decorations are going up everywhere.

Doha, Qatar is becoming increasingly popular, both as a tourist destination and an ex-pat enclave. However, this Gulf city has a reputation for being extremely expensive, with its modern infrastructure and luxury amenities.

Qatar sits in the heart of the Arabian Gulf (Persian Gulf). A small peninsula, it’s connected by land to Saudi Arabia and in close proximity to the Tropic of Cancer.

Qatar experiences a desert climate with sunshine almost year-round, and the occasional dust storm thrown in. So when is the best time to visit the city of Doha and the tiny nation of Qatar?

How hot does Qatar get in the summer?

Visitors should expect long, hot summers followed by mild winters. There are no 4 seasons in Qatar, just summer and winter (also known as hot and really hot!). But does that mean you can only visit Qatar during the cooler winter months?

Certainly, the cooler months from late October through to April are the most pleasant for visiting Qatar. However, increasingly, there are more attractions open year-round, and Doha has its lights on year-round, 24/7, thanks in no small part to being the hub for the international airline Qatar Airways.

In this post, we will talk you through what to expect throughout the year, both in terms of climate in Qatar, as well as local holidays and events to be aware of.

Peak summer temperatures in Qatar can average 45°C (113°F), so it’s a case of life moving indoors during those hottest months; outdoor activities during the peak of the day in Qatar are all but unbearable. 

You will find a lot of the expat population use this time to leave the country, and everything really slows down across the city.

That said, it’s also your best opportunity to snap up a bargain-priced resort or short getaway.  DOH airport still runs at its busiest, with Qatar Airways ferrying passengers across the globe over summer. You will still find plenty of things going on in Qatar that make it worth a stopover in Doha , even in summer.

You will find there is quite a dry heat at the start of summer, changing to ultra-humid and sticky as August and September roll on. There is sudden relief come mid-October and temperatures will drop.

Note that sea temperatures in Qatar are very warm as well in summer. You can expect Gulf water temperatures as high as 34°C (93°F) so don’t go planning a refreshing ocean dip mid-summer (and check your hotel has a temperature-controlled pool!)

Qatar, in the cooler winter months (broadly November to April), can be a beautiful place to be. Without a doubt, this is the best time to visit Doha and all that Qatar has to offer.

Doha makes for an ideal mid-winter escape over the Christmas break, and is still quite pleasant during school term breaks too; the end of October autumn half term for many schools in Europe and the Spring Break in later March are the perfect times to plan a visit.

Daytime temperatures in Qatar really start to fall back to the low 30’s by the end of October, and to around the mid-20s by December/January.  These pleasant conditions last until around the end of April; by the end of May things really heat up again to 40°C+.

Be careful when planning anything to do with the resorts or beaches through mid-winter; you may find the water is a little on the chilly side (though coming from the coldest parts of Europe, it will probably feel tropical!!)

Winter is the perfect time to head out to some of the more remote parts of Qatar, including the inland sea, or north to visit some of the historic points, such as Al-Zubarah Fort.

The springtime also sees the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) – and in 2024, this is taking place as part of the EXPO 2023 exhibition in Al Bidda Park.

If you love a bit of sunshine and warmth thrown in, our favourite months to visit Qatar are November and March.

Yes! It might take you by surprise, but rain is possible over the cooler winter months in Doha, Qatar (or it could stay completely dry!) We wouldn’t recommend packing your umbrella just in case – but do expect sheer pandamonium if it does as buildings are put to the water-tight test; roads become easily flooded and most drivers don’t know how to react. Best to stay in place if a rainstorm does hit, it will soon pass.

Very much so.  These occur largely in the spring to summer period but can occur at any time of year. Qatar can be susceptible to the Shamal – a northwesterly wind that blows over Iraq and the Persian Gulf states. Those with respiratory conditions such as asthma should keep abreast of the AQI if it’s dusty out.

Real outside snow? No. The coldest it’s ever gotten in Qatar is 5.6°C.

Qatar hits its peak temperatures for the year in July, though August can often feel hotter due to the rising humidity later in summer. Expect July average high temperatures of 42 ° C (108 ° F), but highs as much as 50 ° C (122 ° F) are not unheard of. Keep your eye on the “feels like” temperature or heat index, as well as the temperature in Celcius/Fahrenheit.

Public and school holidays in Qatar

Although the country follows the Gregorian calendar (January through December), the Hijri calendar is observed for religious occasions.

The main observances are:

• The holy month of Ramadan
• Eid al-Fitr
• Arafat Day & Eid al-Adha
• Hijri New Year
• Mawlid al-Nabi al-Sharif – the Prophet’s birthday

These dates move forward on the Gregorian calendar approximately 10 days each year.

Actual dates are not confirmed until the moon is sighted, and the Government may move the actual dates that the public holiday is observed, normally to align with a weekend.

Qatar also celebrates:

• New Year’s Day on 1 January
• National Sports Day on 13 February
• Qatar National Day on 18 December

School holidays are set by the Supreme Education Council and the Ministry of Education. Most schools run on a three-term calendar.  They will have a winter term, and take a few weeks off over mid-December to January (coincidentally Christmas, it is not formally marked).

Term 2 then runs through until late March. There is a spring break in early April (again, it’s only a coincidence if it’s at Easter), then a longer summer break over July and August.

Also, note that the weekend in Qatar is Friday/Saturday, making these days much busier than during the week, Sunday through Thursday.

It’s important to note as a visitor when the  Holy Month of Ramadan  will occur as there are slight modifications in behaviour required. The 9th month in the Hijri calendar is a period of deep religious reflection for Muslims and is strictly observed.

Ramadan in 2024 will start approximately 11 March and end 9 April.

The most important thing to observe is fasting, with no eating or drinking permitted in public.  There should also be no public displays of affection, and  ensure you are dressed modestly  – more so than usual.

The other thing you may observe is that businesses and attractions are closed during the day and only open in the evening. That said, most tourist attractions are now keeping normal operating hours during the holy month. It is more so local businesses, government offices and schools that are impacted by the change in hours.

There is no reason not to visit Qatar during Ramadan . It can be a great time to enjoy the local culture, join in with a traditional Iftar (the evening breaking of the fast) and overnight festivities that last well into the night, especially on weekends. But please note the change in hours and dress code. 

It is still a more conservative place than Dubai, for example, so expect hotels to have covered dining areas and no alcohol to be served during Ramadan.

All subject to moon sighting for the actual start and end dates, you can expect Ramadan to fall:

Over the past decade or so, Qatar has seen a huge influx of visitors. Its popularity as a travel destination has skyrocketed making it one of the top searches for a vacation.

It’s what I would call “charming”, yet full of thrills. The tall buildings that make up their skyline can be dizzying, but the architecture and history is what brings in many tourists throughout the year. 

Doha is the capital of Qatar and is comprised of about 85% expatriates making it one of the most diverse cities in the world! This makes it a hotspot for multicultural events, amazing cuisine, and beautiful architecture. Basically, it has become a traveler’s paradise.

Doha offers a wide array of activities, from dune bashing to splurging and haggling at the local bazaar to taking a camel ride through the desert, you can find it here. If you’re like me and always try to seek out cultural activities you will be happy to know that there are plenty of museums in Doha. It even has its own  cultural village  that you can visit.

Each trip I have taken to Doha has offered a completely different experience. When getting ready to take a vacation it’s important to consider who all is going when you’re ready to hop onto that Qatar Airways flight as that could dictate just when the perfect time to go would be.

Traveling Solo –  If you’re traveling alone, whether for business or leisure, you can pretty much go whenever works best for you. Check the weather forecast and do some research to make sure that whatever malls, venues, and attractions you will want to see in your downtime will be open and available and then book your flight and room.

Family Vacation –  If you’re traveling with children, then probably the best time to visit Doha would be during one of the major school breaks. I would recommend that you consider either the winter or spring break as this is when the weather will be the best, although it may get a little rainy in April. Sometimes children can’t deal with the blistering heat of Qatar, so if your kids aren’t accustomed to super warm weather you might want to avoid summer break.

Romantic Doha Getaway –  Doha, in my opinion, is best traveled with a spouse. While the crime rate is very low there, and I never once felt in any type of immediate danger when I went for my business trip, it always made me feel a bit more comfortable having my husband to lead the way and pay for things.

Although PDA is a big no-no there, even for a married couple, it didn’t dampen our spirits and we still had a ton of fun when we went for our anniversary. So  my  perfect time to go to Doha was when my husband and I were both able to clear a week out on our calendars at the same time. Sometimes it’s just as simple as that.

Weather In Doha

One thing that I was really worried about before heading to Doha for my first time was what to expect as far as the weather was concerned. I mean I knew it was a desert and that it would be hot, but that was about it. I kept seeing conflicting answers on what to  really  expect besides just a temperature range. That’s one of the things that made me want to write this guide for you, a possible future Doha traveler!

One thing to know before heading to Doha is that the weather there can vary greatly depending on the month of your trip. Temperatures are known to get as low as 50°F (under 20°C) in the winter months of December through February. Alternatively temperatures can end up as hot as 110°F (about 45°C) in the summer months of June through late September.

With all that being said, if you’re looking for moderate weather, for temperatures that are not too blistering hot and not too frigidly cold, your best bet would be sometime from March through May or September through November. During these months you will find common recreation areas, like the beaches, hotel pools, museums, and parks full of citizens, expats, and visitors enjoying the warm weather.

One thing you don’t have to worry much about is having rain put a damper on your trip. Qatar is a desert country after all, so it seldom rains. In fact Doha gets less than 3 inches of rain  per year .

If you’re one that enjoys taking in a thunderstorm while on a trip, you’re most likely to have one in December or April, where it typically rains an average of 3 days out of the month. Other than that it’s unlikely that you’ll encounter any thunderstorms. An occasional dust storm might be another story, though.

Below is a little more detailed breakdown of what to expect for the specific months throughout the year.

December Through February –  Remember earlier when I explained that December through February is considered winter in Doha? Well, I wasn’t exactly counting those months out as the best time to visit Doha. In fact, some consider this to be the optimal months to go!

The fact that it does get a bit cooler during this time doesn’t mean that it’s unbearable – far from it actually. The sun shines for 7 to 8 hours per day. Remember, the lows only get into the 50s or 60s. If you’re coming from North America, you’re probably already used to these temperatures around those months anyway.

Although it may be too cold to enjoy the beaches and pool, you will likely find some great flight and hotel deals around this season, too. Plus, who wouldn’t like to be able to say they spent Christmas, New Year’s, or Valentine’s Day in Qatar? The rates for flights and hotels will be a little higher than usual during this time, but it may be a small price to pay for some cooler weather in the desert country.

March Through August –  The springtime can actually be pretty hot and humid in Doha. Summertime is even worse. The temperatures in this date range can vary wildly being as low as 80°F (27°C) all the way up to 110°F (43°C). With that being said, if you’re planning to spend most of your time down at the beach or by the pool, this may be the best option.

You will encounter somewhere between ten to twelve hours of daylight during these months. If you’re not one to enjoy  really (really)  hot unabated weather, I would definitely recommend avoiding July and August. Even spending the day in the water at the beach may not be good enough to keep you cool during this time of year.

Bear in mind that spring and summer are the slowest seasons when it comes to Doha. Slow travel seasons equal sweet deals on airfare and hotels. If you  can  handle the heat hop on the plane!

September Through November –  Two words describe this time of year in Doha: Cool and Humid. The sun beats down for a solid ten hours every day for this timeframe. Temperatures usually range between 68°F (20°C) to 104°F (40°C). 

This time of the year is considered to be the second busiest season for Doha specifically, which means it’s not good for the last minute travelers. If you’re able to book well in advance you can actually secure some really good deals on your lodging and transportation.

Mind The Cultural Holidays

If Doha is on your mind as your holiday hotspot this year, keep in mind that most of the Qatari population is Muslim and that certain religious holidays are observed. You should be aware of the meaning and customs of these times so you can act accordingly and know what to expect during your visit. The month of Ramadan is an example of one such period.

Ramadan is considered the holiest of months for Muslims and entails a month of fasting, along with much prayer and reflection. It requires fasting for the daylight hours (no food, no drink – not even water), no smoking, and no “sinful behavior” in general from sunrise to sunset.

The exact start day for Ramadan changes every year, as the lunar Islamic calendar is what is used to determine the date, so you will need to check online to find out exactly when it is due to take place for the year you want to visit.

The first time I went to Doha for business it happened to be in June 2018. I arrived on June 15 th , to be exact, and found myself entering the country right at the tail end of the month of Ramadan. It was my first trip there and to say it was a culture shock might be a little of an understatement.

Besides the fact that I had to adhere to the strict dress code, which I knew ahead of time and was completely ok with, I was also greeted by some of the hottest and most humid heat I’d ever felt in my life. I like to joke that it was “sauna weather”. Then, to top it all off, I had to wait until the restaurants opened to get something good to eat. Luckily I only had one day of Ramadan to make it through and the Eid al-Fitr made it all worthwhile.

During Ramadan many restaurants, bars, parks, malls, and other venues will effectively shut down during the day, maybe even for the month. A lot of the venues do open up at night, after the sun has set, and then feasts and fun are available again for a short while.

This practice can have a major impact on your trip, possibly prohibiting you from visiting somewhere you wanted to go. Unless you specifically want to visit Doha to observe Ramadan, you may want to avoid visiting during it so you can make sure that you are able to fit in as much as you want and that you can get the most out of your trip.

If you happen to find yourself in Doha during the month of Ramadan, like me, try to stick around for the Eid al-Fitr, which is also commonly referred to as “the Festival of Breaking the Fast”. This is the festival that occurs immediately after the completion of Ramadan. It’s a multi-day event and generally involves much revelry and great food all around – trust me I was there!

Other Special Events

Besides these special religious holidays and events, there are also many other festivals that occur throughout the year in Doha. There is the Art Festival of Qatar which generally takes place in December, the Doha Tribeca Film Festival usually in October, and the Qatar Masters Golf Tournament in February, to name a few.

If you are the type that enjoys attending one-of-a-kind festivals and fun sporting events while out on holiday make sure to check out the various events that will be hosted throughout the year. You might catch something really special and you’ll be glad that you did a little research before your trip.

Also, if you would look forward to visiting a couple museums while in Doha, you ought to check out the museum’s website prior to your trip. They should keep their site updated with their current and future exhibits and you will be able to see if they will be hosting any special events that would be of interest to you and maybe plan your trip around that.

Don’t think I forgot about the soccer fans of the world. Keep in mind that the FIFA World Cup will be hosted in Qatar from November 21 st  through December 18 th  of 2022, so mark your calendars and start planning and saving for your trip early. Flights and rooms are bound to fill up quickly (if they haven’t already)!

The general consensus dictates that as long as it’s not the dead middle of summer or the month of Ramadan, it’s pretty much always a great time to visit Doha. Of course there will be more people during the cooler months, but if you can withstand a little sweltering heat, don’t count Doha out completely during the summer.

Budget Travel

Some people out there may say that the best time to visit Doha (or any location for that matter) is the cheapest time. I’d have to second that motion. I’m all for saving money!

One thing that I will have to admit is that I regret not going to Doha sooner. I thought it was a location that was out of my league. It was too exotic, too  international ,   and thus far too expensive for me to ever be able to afford. Honestly, I think if my job hadn’t sent me over there, I would have never gone.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you have to be a millionaire to travel to Doha. There are ways to save money on everything that you will need to have a great trip there. It turns out, as is the case with most international locations, the most expensive part about a vacation to Qatar will be your flights and boarding.

So, how do you save on that? The easiest way to save on your transportation and lodging would be by traveling when it’s the low season.

 For Doha that would mean traveling in June or September, the hot summer season. Since there is always a huge dip in visitors during those times it means the hotels and airlines will lower their prices to lure you in. Not only do they need to be less expensive because of the season, but they also have to compete with each other.

More often than not you will only end up staying at one hotel during your stay and flying with one airline, so in order to gain your business they have to offer competitive pricing among each other or give their clients something exclusive. Once you get there you will find that the restaurants and even items you may want to buy as souvenirs are very affordable.

While it may be a little hotter in Doha during those months, the money you save on your lodging and travel expenses will more than pay for a nice cold beverage to keep you cool!

From The Locals

I was a little curious to find out from the locals what  they  thought would be the best time to visit Doha. I had my husband ask a few people throughout our trip, just for kicks. While there wasn’t one unanimous answer, most agreed that the peak of summer ought to be avoided at all costs.

One gentleman that my husband spoke with worked at one of the hotels along the Corniche. He said that he’s seen his fair share of people pass out from the extreme heat and has found that some people just can’t handle it.

Thinking back to my experience when I came in June, I could definitely relate. The desert heat in Doha is no joke. I encountered a few dizzy spells myself on my previous trip. After the first one I made sure to always keep a bottle of water with me.

My Personal Experience In December

Since I’d already experienced the summer in Doha when I went for work, when my husband asked if I’d like to go back for an actual vacation, I was all for it, but with one caveat; that we go when it was cooler. We decided on December for a few different reasons: 1.) Our daughter would be out of school and able to stay with her grandmother, 2.) We could both get the time off from work, and 3.) We were going to be celebrating our 20 th  anniversary.

Another big factor that made us decide to travel in December is that we found out we could visit Qatar’s Art Festival during that time. Since this was to be a more romantic vacation I figured we should make it as fun as possible and fit in and see as much of the culture as we could.

Arriving in December was such a different experience from before. The plane was way more packed with people, there were Christmas lights up all over the place and best of all the weather was amazing! It never got too cold that it actually prohibited us from doing anything we wanted to do.

Another plus is that having to bundle up a little made it a lot easier to deal with their strict dress code for women. I never once had to worry about my shoulders or knees being exposed since I kept a light jacket on and wore simple jeans every day.

What Does Best Even Mean?

Besides factoring in costs, weather, and other cultural events, it’s important to remember when planning for a trip to Doha that many things will ultimately come down to personal preference and your own situation. The “best” always depends on perspective and can mean one thing to one person and a completely different thing to another.

Some people enjoy extreme heat, while others like it a bit on the chilly side. Some like to be immersed in huge crowds and others like a little solitude on vacation. That’s just the way that the world works, and it’s a good thing, too. Qatar has two major seasons: Summer and Winter. May to September can be considered summer, while December to February is the cooler season. March to April and October to November are the transition months.

Summer temperatures are routinely 50°C during the day and often more than 40°C at night. It’s important to wear sunblock, cover yourself and drink plenty of water when going outside during the day.

During cooler months (December to February), the temperatures average between 14°C and 25°C on most days.

Since most of the attractions are within a couple of hours distance from Doha, you do not have to stay at different hotels during your Qatar vacation.

Doha’s city centre is just 15 minutes drive from the airport by car. To get from HIA to the city, you can take Airport Taxis available at Arrivals Terminal or request your hotel to arrange a private hotel transfer. It is possible to rent a car at the airport or at the hotels. An international driving license is required for visitors to drive in Qatar.

For travelling around the city, you can use the official taxi network called Karwa Taxi or pre-book a taxi using mobile apps like Uber or Careem . Even though Qatar has a network of public buses, they are not recommended for first-time visitors as their frequency is not guaranteed.

Since Qatar is an Islamic country, it is important to dress appropriately. Loose-fitting and modesty-covering clothing is the preferred style. Women are not required to wear the hijab or veil their heads in public.

Tourists are generally expected to cover their shoulders and knees at a minimum. Beachwear is acceptable at private beaches and swimming pools inside hotels.

The national currency of Qatar is the Qatari Riyal (QAR). One QAR is equivalent to 100 Dirhams. Qatar Banknotes are available in values of QAR 500, 200, 100, 50, 10, 5, and 1. Coins in circulation are 25 Dhs (QAR 0.25) and 50 Dhs (QAR 0.5).

Since Qatar Riyal is pegged to US Dollar, the value of USD 1 is around QAR 3.64. Banks and ATMs across the country take major international credit cards and debit cards.

• Normally, the work week in Qatar is from Sunday to Thursday.
• Government offices operate from 7 am to 2 pm.
• Private offices operate from 8 am to 4 pm, or 9 am to 5 pm.
• Shopping malls generally are open from 10 am to 10 pm and up to midnight on weekends.

Most shops and offices change their working hours during Ramadan . Visitors should refrain from eating and drinking in public, except in hotels, during the hours between sunrise and sunset.

Hi Robert, Due to the World Cup, the visa-on-arrival service (or any kind of tourist visa) is unavailable during that period. As per the current rule, you need a Hayya Card to visit Qatar from 1 November, and it is only available for those with a match ticket. There is still five weeks to go before your travel date. So please check back after a few weeks in case the rules change.

Average temperatures in Doha vary greatly. Considering humidity, temperatures feel hot for about half of the year and otherwise nice with a very low chance of rain throughout the year. The area is somewhat temperate — in the 56th percentile for pleasant weather — compared to tourist destinations worldwide. Weeks with ideal weather are listed above . Fall (September through November)

Fall daily highs range from 105.7°F (40.9°C) and 79.4°F (26.3°C), which will feel warmer than comfortable given the humidity and wind. It rains or snows a barely noticeable amount: 0 to 1 days per month. Tourism is the second busiest during these months due to the weather, so hotels may be slightly higher priced.

Winter (December through February)

Weather is perfect this time of year in Doha to be enjoyable for warm weather travelers. The average high during this season is between 80.3°F (26.8°C) and 69.9°F (21.1°C). On average, it rains or snows a smalll amount: consistently 1 times per month. These times of year are the busiest with tourists.

Attitudes towards dress in Qatar are relaxed, but visitors (men as well as women) are expected to show respect for local culture by avoiding excessively revealing clothing in public. It is generally recommended for men and women to ensure their shoulders and knees are covered.

The Qatari riyal is the only currency used in the country and can be obtained through ATMs which are widely available in malls, hotels and around Doha . The Qatari Riyal (QR) is pegged against the US Dollar at QAR 3.64

Currency import regulations

When bringing local currency (Qatar Riyal-QAR) and all other foreign currencies amounts equal to or higher than QAR 50,000 must be declared on arrival. This includes jewelry, precious metals or stones valued at QAR 50,000 or higher.

Drinking water

The World Health Organization estimates that 99% of Qatar has access to drinkable tap water. However, bottled water is widely consumed in Qatar with plenty of local and imported brands widely available.

Electric supply

The standard voltage is 240 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. Plug points are the same as in the UK. To use electric appliances made for the range of 100 V - 127 V (as is in the US, Canada and most South American countries), one needs a voltage converter or a combined power plug adapter/voltage converter.

Embassies & Consulates

Doha is home to over 100 foreign embassies and a consulate. These are open for business from Sunday to Thursday and closed on Friday and Saturday, as well as all public holidays of both Qatar and the embassy's home country.

Friday timings

All business and commercial activity shuts down during Friday prayers in the morning (around 10am -12pm).  Several shops remain closed on Fridays while malls open in the afternoon on Fridays.

Qatari ladies will  not  shake hands with men, and many men will not shake a lady’s hand as a gesture of respect.

Healthcare facilities

In case of emergency, visitors can go to Hamad General Hospital’s network of hospitals and healthcare centers for care.

Internet connectivity

Qatar is the world’s first country to introduce a commercial 5G network. Free WIFI facilities are available at the Hamad International Airport and most public places including shopping malls, restaurants and parks.

Islamic holidays

Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the month-long period of fasting.  It is spent with family and friends, with much feasting, and goes on for three days, though shops and private businesses may reopen after one or two days.

The Hajj pilgrimage ends with Eid Al Adha , also known as the “feast of sacrifice” and continues for four days.

Home to around a hundred nationalities, Qatar is a melting pot of cultures with numerous languages being spoken. Being an Arab country, the official language is Arabic, but English is commonly spoken at all public places.

Official holidays

Qatar National Day is celebrated on 18 December. Sports Day is also a national holiday celebrated on the second Tuesday of February each year. In addition to these two holidays the country is closed for three days during Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha.

Public display of affection

As in all Middle Eastern countries, showing overt affection and intimacy in public is frowned upon.

During the Islamic month of Ramadan, visitors are expected to refrain from eating, drinking and smoking in public places during the daylight hours out of respect to those who are fasting.  Hotels continue to cater to guests by opening restaurants that are out of the public’s view.

Qatar is a Muslim country and Islam plays an integral role in daily life. Prayers take place five times per day: at dawn (Fajr), around midday (Duhr), in mid-afternoon (A'asr), at sunset (Maghrib) and about two hours after sunset (‘Esha). The exact timing varies each day according to the sun's position.

Qatar has been ranked first in terms of safety and security, according  Numbeo  Crime Index 2020, the world’s largest database of user contributed data on cities and countries.

Smoking is prohibited in all public spaces including museums, sports clubs, shopping malls and restaurants. Violators can be subject to fines between QAR 1000-3000.

Most hospitality outlets in Qatar include a service charge in the bill. However, a tip of 10-15% as a gesture of satisfaction is appreciated. It is advisable to carry cash for tipping.

What is the best time to visit Doha?

December-February is the best time to visit Doha, Qatar. The winter months have an average temperature ranging from 26.8°C to 21.1°C. Weather in these months are pleasant and is easier to roam outdoors. It is said to be the peak-season in Doha. Although rainfall is deficient, it rains for a day or two in a month.  March-May, the spring months in Doha is very warm, and the same is with the summer months of June-August. The temperature ranges between 108°F (42.2°C) and 80.3°F (26.8°C). The expenses for accommodation is much cheaper during these months. The fall months of September-November is, again, warm, with a temperature range of 105.7°F (40.9°C) and 79.4°F (26.3°C). Rain is also not frequent during this time, and hence, there’s no respite from the sudden heat waves. With one of the fastest-growing tourism hubs in the Middle East, Qatar has been busy establishing itself on the global visitor map. 

A cheap and efficient new metro system opened in 2019 making it now easier than ever to experience the Gulf nation’s ever-expanding array of attractions. With the bulk of things to see and do located in the capital of Doha , you might be surprised by how many must-dos you can squeeze into a short stopover. 

Qatar is smaller than the US state of Connecticut, so it doesn’t demand as much time to explore as its larger neighbors. Here are 14 things to do in Qatar that are worth shuffling to the top of your itinerary.

Marvel at Doha’s next-level museums and galleries

Rising up from a purpose-built island off Doha’s Corniche , the postmodern fortress-styled Museum of Islamic Art is Qatar’s showpiece gallery, housing the largest collection of Islamic art on the planet. In 2019, it was joined by another unmissable cultural institution. Rebuilt to resemble a desert rose, the name for the crystal clusters found in the Qatari desert, the National Museum of Qatar charts the nation’s history with the help of 21st-century technology. 

But these aren’t Qatar’s only museums and galleries worth seeking out. Mathaf , the Arab Museum of Modern Art, showcases a vast collection of contemporary art with an Arab connection, while the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum , which opened in 2022, is a sophisticated ode to sports.

Get lost in Souq Waqif

In the heart of Doha, the sprawling Souq Waqif complex is one of the most atmospheric corners of Qatar, best visited in the evenings when it brims with locals. Built on an ancient market site, Souq Waqif was redeveloped in the noughties to look like a 19th-century souq (market), with mud-rendered shops and exposed timber beams, plus some beautifully restored heritage buildings.

Despite the rise of Qatar’s mega-malls, the Souq Waqif remains at the heart of social and commercial life in Doha, one of the few places where people from all rungs of society come together to feast on regional cuisine, shop for everything from antique daggers to custom thobes (traditional robe commonly worn by men on the Arabian Peninsula) or simply sip karak (cardamom) tea and watch the world go by.

The Falcon Souq offers a fascinating insight into a favorite Qatari pastime, though some visitors may find the leashed falcon displays distressing. Nearby stables house Arabian horses, and just off the Corniche end of Al Jasra Street, a pen is usually filled with camels.

Go off-roading to Qatar’s iconic “inland sea”

Sign up for a thrilling 4WD off-roading adventure to Khor Al Adaid , Qatar’s spectacular “inland sea,” where enormous shifting sand dunes meet the azure waters of a unique tidal embayment system that creates a natural border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Organized tours offered by the likes of 365 Adventures typically run for four hours, with the dunes beginning around an hour south of Doha, just beyond Sealine Beach .

Visit Qatar’s only Unesco World Heritage Site

The most prominent feature of Qatar’s Unesco-listed Al Zubarah Archaeological Site, Al Zubarah Fort was built in 1938 to guard the nation’s northwest coast. Used by the military until the 1980s, the fortress has since been restored and turned into a museum. Inside there are displays showcasing the history and pearling heritage of Al Zubarah, a once thriving pearling port abandoned in the early 20th century. A 1.5-hour drive from Doha, the fort is the only part of the site currently open to the public, but if you stand outside and look toward the sea, you can just make out the sprawling ruins of the long-abandoned town.

Seek out the mysterious Al Jassasiya Rock Carvings

This profusion of petroglyphs – nearly 900 rock carvings depicting rosettes, fish, dhow boats, and more – on a rocky outcrop in northeastern Qatar is one of the nation’s biggest mysteries. Up close you may feel underwhelmed by the poorly preserved shapes, but imagining communities here hundreds (perhaps thousands) of years ago is still an evocative experience. 

Some archaeologists have suggested the petroglyphs, located 90km (56 miles) north of Doha, could date back to the 3rd century BC, while other experts believe they were created between the 10th and 18th centuries AD. Signboards offer some background information and maps of the site, but that’s currently the extent of its tourist facilities.

Explore the ultra-modern Msheireb Downtown district

In the heart of Doha, the Msheireb Downtown district bills itself as the world’s first sustainable Downtown regeneration project. While the marketing should perhaps be taken with a grain of salt, there’s no denying that this compact precinct – blending Islamic and contemporary design elements – is architecturally stunning. While most of the buildings are brand new, four heritage houses have been beautifully restored and opened to the public as the Msheireb Museums . 

Msheireb is also home to the M7 design and innovation hub, which has hosted fashion exhibitions by the likes of Christian Dior and Hermès since opening in late 2021. A free tram runs through the district, which is dotted with restaurants and luxury hotels.

Eat your way around the world without leaving Doha

Qatar’s melting pot of cultures – less than 12% of the population is ethnic Qatari – has birthed an incredibly diverse food scene that makes dining out in Doha a joy. While hotel restaurants tend to focus on European, Latin, and East Asian cuisines, Doha’s proliferation of migrant-run restaurants serve up a huge range of authentic, affordable eats from the Middle East, the Subcontinent, and beyond, with some top wallet-friendly eats including Turkey Central for excellent mezze and grilled meats and Bandar Aden for hearty Yemeni dishes. You don’t have to go far in Doha to find a terrific Indian meal.

Seek out Qatar’s excellent public art

Not all of Qatar’s art acquisitions are hidden away in museums. With a reported arts spending budget of around US$1 billion, the nation is constantly adding to its public art collection. In Souq Waqif, you can’t miss Pouce , a giant golden digit modeled on the late French sculptor César Baldaccini’s own thumb, while multiple works can be found in MIA Park and Katara Cultural Village .

Farther afield in the Education City precinct, look out for The Miraculous Journey , a series of 14 bronze sculptures by Damien Hirst, and US artist Richard Serra’s huge East–West/West–East installation rising out of the western desert. Even Hamad International Airport has a dozen-odd pieces of art, including a huge golden falcon by Dutch sculptor Tom Claassen that’s perched on a railing outside the departures hall.

Admire the national mosque

Doha’s impressive modern Imam Muhammad Ibn Abd Al Wahhab Mosque , the largest mosque in the country, has a fort-like appearance, with more than two dozen domes on its roof. It’s perhaps more striking from the outside, particularly at dusk when the mosque's arches and domes are attractively illuminated.

Taking a peek inside its cavernous, largely unadorned prayer hall is allowed outside of prayer times and should be arranged in advance with a local tour agency or through the Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center in Souq Waqif.

Spend a morning wandering Katara

This purpose-built cultural precinct can feel a bit Disneyland-ish, but Katara is still worth a visit, even just to see its two splendid mosques: the glittering, gold-tiled Golden Mosque and Katara Mosque with its beautifully ornate ceramic tiling. Katara’s numerous performance and gallery spaces include the classical Greek-style Katara Amphitheater, while the Al Thuraya Planetarium offers a crash course in Arabic astronomy.

Katara has a good selection of restaurants and food stalls, and it’s also home to Doha’s main public beach .

Catch a camel race

Camel racing took off in Qatar in the 1970s and remains a popular wintertime spectator sport, with races held at the Al Shahaniya camel racetrack west of Doha on Fridays from October to February. Major events – such as HH, the Emir’s Main Race – are also held in March and April. Pioneered in the 2000s, robot jockeys are now used in Qatari camel races. This shift effectively ended a cruel child labor industry once common in the Gulf, but visitors with animal welfare concerns should know that the robot jockeys are fitted with remote-controlled whips. While there’s no betting allowed, sponsors provide lucrative purses for race winners.

Wander the “Arabian Riviera” at The Pearl

Qatar’s answer to Dubai’s The Palm Jumeirah , The Pearl is a luxurious artificial island development on Doha’s northern fringe that, well, shows you  how oil and gas riches can be spent . The Pearl’s Porto Arabia precinct, encircling a yacht-studded marina, has a pleasant waterfront promenade lined with cafes and restaurants. But most visitors get a bigger kick out of visiting the Venetian-inspired Qanat Quartier, complete with canals, brightly colored apartment blocks, and even a replica Rialto Bridge. It’s a far cry from the real deal, but you’ll feel a world away from Qatar.

Get an unexpected culture hit at a new kind of wellness resort

Perched on Qatar’s northeastern tip, Zulal Wellness Resort offers an opportunity to experience Qatari culture in a whole new way. The first international outpost from iconic Thai wellness retreat Chiva-Som, the sprawling complex, officially opened in 2022, offers immersive stays guided by traditional Arabic and Islamic medicine. If you've absorbed all your weekends in exploring the countless hidden gems in the UAE and are now thinking to head to one of our neighbouring countries for a quick getaway, we've got you covered.

In this week's travel guide, let's traverse through Qatar, a destination which is just an hour away by flight, and seven hours by car. It's so close that you can go in the morning, finish your work, enjoy the evening, and head back home to the UAE at night. And many people do that, especially those who hold business meetings often. But in this guide, we'll tell you about a few attractions that you can visit in 24-hours.

Check-in and freshen up

Let's assume you take a morning flight to Qatar; you arrive in Doha, the capital city, in about 60 minutes, and head to a hotel where you'll be staying for the night. We recommend Four Seasons The Pearl, Qatar for your night stay. A 20-25-minute drive from the airport, the hotel is located in one of Doha's most popular areas. From there, you can easily head to several tourist destinations which we'll cover in this guide.

Qanat Quartier, Qatar’s very-own Venice

You don’t have to go to Italy any more to enjoy the charm of Venice, the city of canals. We’re not undermining the beauty of Venice, but the Qanat Quartier is much easier to travel to, especially because you don’t have to wait for months to acquire a schengen visa. Qanat Quartier at The Pearl is a mini-version of Venice; it’s got canals and boats, beautiful bridges, colourful apartments, and many cafes to check out. Although a residential area, you can visit the destination as a tourist and take plenty of pictures for your Instagram. There’s also a beach right next to it if you’re in the mood for it. Arabs really know how to give all-in-one packages.

Katara Cultural Village

When you’ve had your fill of canals and coffee, it’s time to take in some culture. And you’ve got an entire cultural village next to you. Located between The Pearl residential neighbourhood and the financial district of West Bay, Katara is your destination. Here, you can marvel at the mosques, check out the pigeon towers, go shopping at Galeries Lafayette, which is very similar to the original in Paris, and explore art galleries.

Mina District, Old Doha Port

Towards the evening, head to Mina District, a picturesque neighbourhood located on the Doha Corniche featuring pastel-coloured buildings, a docking bay, and a stunning fish market. The place used to be a port but is now transformed into a tourist attraction, though cruise ships are still docked during the winter cruise season. The buildings at Mina District also feature beautiful street-style artwork on its walls. Cosy cafes and restaurants make for a pleasant environment as you walk along the pier at the bay. There’s also a popular fish market and seafood restaurant, Chabrat Al Mina, if you want to go seafood shopping. Nearby, there’s a Box Park, built with shipping containers turned into food and shopping outlets, a Flag Plaza, with flags of many counties fluttering, and the popular Souq Waqif.

Place Vendôme

Here’s another Paris-like architectural masterpiece in the heart of Qatar. On your way back to The Pearl, before you sign off for the day, check out the extravagant mall Place Vendôme (we know you love to shop on a vacation). The four-floored mall houses 580 high-end and mid-range stores, including every global fashion brand. You can also indulge in culinary experiences at the several cafes and restraurants within the mall. And then, if you’re not bored already of the fountains, check out the Dancing Fountains shows that take place during day and night.

Lusail Stadium

If you love Lionel Messi like I do, you cannot end your trip to Qatar without visiting the Lusail Stadium. It’s here that the Argentinian footballer lifted the 2022 Fifa World Cup trophy after beating France in a nail-biting finale. Make sure you visit the spot after sunset as the stadium exteriors light up, making for a grand golden view from the empty parking spots next to it. The stadium is in Lusail City, a neighbourhood on the rise after the World Cup.

This concludes our tour; now, you can head back to the hotel for that sleep you’d very much require. If you plan to fly back the same night, you must reach the airport a little early to explore one of the world’s best airports. The Hamad International Airport houses an indoor tropical garden called The Orchard, a functioning mini metro that takes you to your departure gates, and several luxury brands for your shopping needs.

Qatar's travel and tourism sector to reach record levels in 2024

Industry set to contribute all-time high of US$24.9bn to Qatari economy

Following a record-breaking year, Qatar is on track to reach even greater heights in 2024 with its travel and tourism sector predicted to contribute US$24.9bn to the Qatari economy, up from US$22.3bn in 2023. 

Representing 11% of the country's GDP, the sector will support more than 334,500 jobs across the country (16% of the total workforce).

Spending by international travellers is expected to increase significantly across the year, with forecasts indicating a record spend of US$19.1bn this year, while domestic spend is projected to reach US$3.3bn.

These predicted figures all surpass those seen in 2023, as outlined in the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) 2024 Economic Impact Research (EIR). 

As the host of the FIFA World Cup in November 2022, Qatar's travel and tourism GDP contribution grew by 31% in 2023 to reach a record-breaking US$22.3bn, representing 10% of Qatar’s total economic output.

The sector also proved to be a vital source of employment, creating more than 20,300 new jobs and raising the total to nearly 286,000 nationwide, representing one in every eight jobs across the country.

With the 2024 figures all predicted to surpass these record levels, this success is testament of the government’s commitment in prioritising collaboration between the public and private sectors to boost Qatar’s travel and tourism, creating diverse and immersive experiences for visitors.

By 2034, the global tourism body is forecasting that the sector will grow its annual GDP contribution to more than US$37bn, nearly 13% of Qatar’s economy, and is projected to employ nearly 458,000 people across the country, with one in five residents working in the sector. 

WTTC president amd CEO Julia Simpson said: “Qatar's travel and tourism sector is poised to break all records this year, highlighting its significance as a leading destination in the Middle East. The government’s efforts and emphasis in collaboration will propel Qatar’s travel and tourism growth, setting the stage to play a crucial role in the national economic landscape, promising a future defined by prosperity and opportunity.”

Overall, the Middle Eastern travel and tourism sector grew by more than 25% in 2023 to reach almost US$460bn. Jobs reached nearly 7.75 million and international spending grew by 50% to reach US$179.8bn. Domestic visitor spending grew by 17% to reach more than US$205bn.

WTTC is forecasting that travel and tourism across the region will continue to grow throughout 2024 with the GDP contribution set to reach US$507bn.

Earlier this year, the national carrier of the State of Qatar announced several route launches and resumptions, as well as a significant increase in flight frequencies to meet the growing travel demand and enhance the airline’s global network comprising of more than 170 destinations.

Qatar Airways will start operating flights and resume services to the following destinations this summer:

·       Democratic Republic of Congo:  Inaugural flight to Kinshasa on 1 June 2024 (triangle with Luanda)

·       Uzbekistan: Inaugural flight to Tashkent on 2 June 2024

·       Portugal: Lisbon resumption on 6 June 2024

·       Italy: Resumption of flights to Venice on 12 June 2024

·       Germany: Inaugural flight to Hamburg on 1 July 2024

 Additionally, the national carrier of the state of Qatar will operate to the following destinations throughout the summer season: 

·       Adana: three weekly flights between 09 June and 25 August 2024.

·       Antalya: five weekly flights between 30 May and 31 August 2024.

·       Bodrum: three weekly flights between 07 June and 19 August 2024.

·       Marrakech: seven weekly flights between 01 April and 26 October 2024.

·       Mykonos: four weekly flights between 07June and 07 September 2024.

·       Sarajevo: seven weekly flights between 01 June and 29 September 2024.

·       Trabzon: five weekly flights between 07 June and 24 August 2024.

Destinations served by Qatar Airways will receive the following year on year flight frequency this summer:

·       Almaty - increased from seven weekly flights to 14

·       Baku - increased from seven weekly flights to 12

·       Bangkok - increased from 35 weekly flights to 38

·       Casablanca - increased from four weekly flights to seven

·       Copenhagen – increased from four weekly flights to seven

·       Dusseldorf - increased from seven weekly flights to 11

·       Hanoi - increased from 12 weekly flights to 21

·       Barcelona – increased from 14 weekly flights to 21

·       Boston – increased from seven weekly flights to 10

·       Brussels – increased from seven weekly flights to 12

·       Kuala Lumpur – increased from seven weekly flights to 14

·       Malaga - increased from three weekly flights to seven in peak season (has also been extended to year-round)

·       Manchester – increased from 18 weekly flights to 21

·       Miami – increased from seven weekly flights to 10

·       New York (JFK) - increased from 14 weekly flights to 21

·       Nice – increased from four weekly flights to seven (to increase in May ahead of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival)

·       Oslo – increased from seven weekly flights to 14

·       Paris – increased from 21 weekly flights to 28

·       Rome – increased from 18 weekly flights to 21

·       Seoul – increased from seven weekly flights to eight

·       Tunis – increased from seven weekly flights to 10

·       Warsaw – increased from 10 weekly flights to 14

Qatar Tourism Forecast: QAR 90.8bn Boost Expected in 2024

Qatar anticipates a significant windfall of QAR 90.8 billion in tourism revenue this year, marking a substantial contribution to the nation's economy.

This follows a record-breaking period for tourism, with the sector expected to provide employment opportunities for over 334,500 individuals, representing 15.8% of the total workforce. International traveler spending is anticipated to surge, with tourists contributing QAR 69.6 billion, while domestic travelers are expected to spend QAR 12 billion.

A report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) outlines the promising projections for Qatar's Travel and Tourism sector, highlighting its pivotal role in economic growth and job creation.

The WTTC report underscores the remarkable achievements of Qatar's travel and tourism sector in 2023, with notable increases in GDP contribution, job creation, and domestic traveler spending. The sector saw a 31% surge in GDP contribution, reaching a historic high of QAR 81.2 billion, while over 20,300 new tourism jobs were created, totaling nearly 286,000. Despite hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup and witnessing a significant rise in international visitor spending, the report notes a slight shortfall compared to previous peaks.

Julia Simpson, President and CEO of WTTC, emphasized the government's concerted efforts to drive Qatar's Travel and Tourism growth through collaboration and strategic initiatives. Looking ahead, the sector is poised to play an instrumental role in Qatar's economic landscape, fostering prosperity and opportunity for years to come.

By 2034, the global tourism industry is projected to further amplify its GDP contribution, signaling continued growth and development for Qatar's economy.
