Travel cots in haven static caravans

Hello everyone, We're going to haven for the first time in July with our todler (she will be 17 months). I wondered if anyone had any advice about travel cots in the caravans. The info says that the beds in the twin rooms are too close together to put a travel cot in the bedroom, and it will only fit in the lounge. Anyone got any cunning plans for how to get a travel cot in the bedrom or other sleeping solution soshe can have her own roomas i don't want her tosleep in the lounge as thats where the dog will be and it means we can't watch tv etcI'd wondered if anyone has come up with a way of securing a pop-up style travel cot on top of a single bed in such as way as is safe? any suggestions / advice would be really welcome

PS we are in a standard 3 bedroom one

  • c CaptainMog Posted 16-06-15 Hi! I've just been on holiday to a haven site. I hired one of their travel cots for my daughter who is 16 months. I was worried the same as you about not squeezing it into the bedroom but in the twin room the beds weren't fixed to floor so I was able to stack one bed on top of the other so there was room for the travel cot on the floor next to them. Not ideal but worked and she was so tired out by end of day that she slept pretty well :-) The curtains did let a lot of light though (we have black out blind at home) so she was waking pretty early so might be worth taking a travel one if your little one is used to dark room. Enjoy your hols :) x

  • c Claires2307 Posted 27-06-15 Just Been on a similar holiday not haven though and we also just stacked one single bed on top of the other which gave plenty of room for travel cot Advertisement | page continues below
  • j jacksmummy2014 Posted 27-06-15 We are just back from a haven holiday, we managed to get the travel cot at the end of the bed in the main bedroom. Definitely take a black out blind the caravan we were in didn't have black out curtains was so glad we had ours with us! Hope you have a great time :-)

  • a ArkansasRazorback Posted 28-06-15 We went last year and I was told by the cleaner when we arrived that one single bed is collapsable in all 3 bed caravans. Sure enough, one had folding legs and it then rolled under the other twin bed.

What to pack for a Haven holiday

We are currently halfway through our stay at Haven Rockley Park, in Poole, Dorset. This basically means that on Sunday I was surrounded by piles of our belongings and trying to pack everything we needed for 5 days in a static caravan, self-catered.

This is our fourth or fifth static caravan holiday and our second Haven one, and so we’ve got used to packing seemingly random but necessary things for our trips. You only need to go shopping for tea towels on the second day of your holiday once before remembering to take them every time!

UPDATE: I’ve released a free printable version of this list.

20140520-231852-83932129.jpg

For me, the key to filling our car boot without forgetting something vital is LISTS. I always have a packing list for sorting things the day before we go, and often another for the morning, so I don’t forget any of the last minute things. This second list is especially useful if you’re getting up really early and won’t be quite awake when you’re headed out the door!

Here is my list of essentials for a self catering holiday in a static caravan:

  • The usual clothes for all family members – including spares in case you fall in the sea and get drenched, et.
  • Towels – hand towels, bath towels, beach/swimming towels, and a bath mat if you don’t want to flood the bathroom when you have a shower
  • Washing up essentials – cloths/sponges, washing up liquid, tea towels
  • Bathroom essentials – in addition to the normal toiletries you’ll need toilet roll & hand wash
  • Kitchen essentials – as well as all the food you plan to eat! you’ll need to buy or bring cooking oil (a spray can type will prevent leaks en route), coffee, tea bags, a sharp knife, a few decent size mugs if you object to using small ones, bin bags
  • Entertainment – if you’re lucky or have paid enough to have a caravan with a DVD player it might be worth bringing some DVDs for relaxing in the evenings, puzzle books, novels, etc
  • Personal tech – iPads, mobile phones, camera… and all the relevant chargers!
  • Bedding – you can save on the bedding charge by bringing along your own sheets, duvet covers & pillowcases. It has the added benefit of making your caravan a little home from home, especially if you have children
  • Picnic gear if you’re planning on taking a meal down to the beach

20140520-232459-84299166.jpg

And if you have young kids…

  • Child friendly kitchenware – we bring a few of their plates, bowls, cups & cutlery
  • A small selection of toys & books for entertainment – and don’t forget some bedtime stories too!
  • Travel cot if you have a baby/toddler still sleeping in their cot – bringing your own instead of renting saves you money & it will help them settle if they are used to it. We also brought Lydia’s Purflo mattress as she is so used to it & sleeps well on it.
  • Any sleep aids or bedtime toys your children like to have at night – Ewan the sheep, Ewan snuggly & Georgie’s Melody dollcome everywhere with us!
  • If it’s easy to pack, bring a highchair or baby seat for any little ones who can’t be trusted to sit on the sofa to eat at the table. In the past we’ve used Lydia’s Cushi Tush for this, and this week we disassembled her Tripp Trapp and brought that, instead of hiring a highchair she’d almost certainly hate using for £12. You can’t use booster seats as static caravans generally don’t have regular dining chairs.
  • Nappy changing supplies, if required

20140520-231850-83930386.jpg

That’s just about everything! If you’ve any essentials you take that I haven’t listed, leave a comment below 🙂

Such a great list! Up until now Hubby has refused to stay in any sort of caravan but next month we are off to a caravan park in the New Forest for a long weekend so this post is very helpful – We went camping as kids and the one time we stayed in a caravan it felt like the ultimate luxury! x

We did Rockley park with a some NCT friends last year and really enjoyed it – could have done with this list back then! lol x

Jutst used this list! First time Haven-er. Thanks very much 🙂

To wonder where baby sleeps? (Haven holidays)

Pigsmummy · 13/06/2013 23:19

So I have booked a deluxe caravan, hired travel cot then read faq's where it stated that the only place to put travel cot is living room. I don't fancy (although might be nice?) retiring to bed at 8pm every evening so wondering what to do and knew that MN would have some suggestions. Bed rail? Take pillows to put baby in bed? Take mattress off cot from home? Put travel cot on double bed and move to living area when going to bed? Ideas please? Baby 8 months. On aibu for traffic but also because DH seems to think that I am being unreasonable to want to discuss options and tu

Meant "to leave it until we get there".

Put baby on your bed till it's your bedtime maybe? Then transfer to travel cot.

Is it only one bedroom?

When we went on a caravan holiday it stated only place for travel cot was living room but we did manage to squeeze it in the main bedroom all be it we then had no floor space at all left!!

The first time we went we put baby in the living room, as it had a fire, so you could keep her warm at night (March holiday and it was freezing) We have done a few of these now. The preferred option is to take the cushions off the settee when you have finished your evening meal, and shove them between the two beds in the childrens room. This makes it fairly unfalloutable. We have also had me sleep in the double bed with baby, and DH sleep elsewhere. That was my preferred option because I could get her to sleep, and get out of bed, and then have plenty of space later. (2 kids, and about 10 caravan holidays)

Don't put the cot on anything! What if it fell off? It would be terrible! Also don't leave her to sleep in your bed as its really dangerous to have babies on beds IMO. if you're thinking of putting her cot mattress on the floor I would say dont - she could roll off. As for the answer though.. I'd just carry on as normal with her in the living area. She'll probably sleep through it. Unless you're incredibly noisy in which case she would wake anyway as you're in a smallish space with thin walls!

Is there not a kitchen area?

2 x bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin) and big lounge. Thinking of taking extra cushions and /or cot mattress to put baby to sleep on double or a twin bed until we retire to bed. Wondered about pre booking a bed rail (for a twin bed) but hoping for guidance from mn and annoyed that DH won't even discuss it?!

We had a two bed haven caravan that had room for a cot in our room. In a three bed caravan, it would have to go in the lounge. I took a bed rail for one side of the double bed and stacked cushions on the other and put dc in our bed to start with. Not ideal. Maybe your dc will enjoy the evening entertainment so much you will be able to stay up till late anyway.

The beds in the little bedroom were camp bed type things in our Haven caravan, so they could be moved around if you think that could be an option. We took out the bedside table that was in the middle and put it in the wardrobe, then pushed the beds together and got a mattress off a single bed in the other room (3 bed caravan) and it slotted into the gap. It turned the room into one big bed.

Apparently you can request that they remove a single bed from the second bedroom to make room. They say their travel cots are of 'generous size'. Maybe they are the big square ones, maybe the rooms are tiny. I will find out on Monday. Will be taking a screwdriver just in case...

I'm not sure anyone suggested putting the cot on anything. My babies always slept in grobags, so putting them on a bed they can't fall out of in a grobag doesn't seem any more dangerous to me than putting them in a collapsible travel cot.

we were in a two bed deluxe caravan at a haven at easter. was definitely room in double room to put a travel cot

We are not long back from staying in a posh 3 bed one on a haven site.. My baby is not so much a baby but we turnt one of the twin rooms into just a massive bed. Baby was fine when we stay in our own van we so the same and baby shares with older sibling too then. If you have got a van with central heating you won't have to worry about baby getting cold Infact we got too hot.

We tipped a single bed on it's side and fitted the travel cot there when dd was a baby. When ds2 was tiny we managed to fit te travel cot at the end of our bed, but it was a 'delux' caravan, with a bigger bedroom.

We've arrived and it's lovely! The main bedroom has enough room to fit our travel cot in but we have turned the 2 single beds on their sides and are using that room (deluxe plus). Small but fine.

we put one of the singles on the other and put our own travel cot up. We're staying in a caravan in 2 months. Don't know if DS2 will still fit in his basket... He's big! We'll need one bed (with guard from home) for DS1.

We have stayed in haven caravan lots of times. When ds was in a travel cot we used the second bedroom. We took the mattress off one bed and put it on top of the other, then turned the bed frame upside down on top of the mattresses. I know it doesn't sound very safe but it is quite stable and gave enough room for the travel cot. Last week we stayed in a 2 bedroom caravan at hafan y mor and there would have been enough room in the main bedroom for a travel cot. The 2 bedroom caravans have more room than the 3 bedrooms. I hope you have a great holiday.

We stayed in a small caravan last year but not at a Haven so unsure of difference in size. We took our own MASSIVE travel cot & managed to squeeze it at bottom of bed, was wedged between bed & wall (& I had to climb over DH if I needed a wee in the night) but we managed! (It was DH's first time in a caravan at 36 years old & I think her loved it more than DD!) Have fun!

It is fine, we moved one of the single beds and the travel cotmfits in the second bedroom.

5 Best Caravan Travel Cots For Babies

If you have a baby but want to use your caravan, you may be wondering how best to accommodate a travel cot.

A caravan travel cot differs to a standard cot because it’s designed to be used in the compact space of a caravan, where square footage is at a premium.

It’s not recommended to bring the cot that you use in your residential home because:

  • It would be awkward to transport and;
  • It’s probably going to take up too much room.

It’s often assumed travel cots will be worse in quality compared to standard cots, but with advancements in technology, brands have been able to make caravan travel cots that are just as comfy, safe and well built.

However, that’s not to say that all caravan cots are perfect. Far from it!

In this guide, we take a look at the best caravan travel cots to give your little one a peaceful night’s sleep while the family is travelling away from home.

BABYBJÖRN Travel Cot with Fitted Sheet

Graco compact caravan cot, deryan travel cot, koo-di pop up travel bubble cot, koo-di pop up travel bassinette, elevated floor, max weight and age, portable & assembled size, versatility, ease of assembly, safety standards, let your child acclimatise, standard travel cot vs. caravan travel cot, best caravan travel cots for babies.

Caravan travel cot from BabyBjorn

The BABYBJÖRN travel cot is one of the easiest travel cots to set up and dissemble. All you need to do is lift the cot out of the included travel bag, and you can set it up in a single movement.

BABYBJÖRN is, of course, a brand that is familiar to just about every new parent. Their products are known for excellent quality that stand the test of time.

There are no additional loose parts to attach with this cot, and the legs unfold automatically. For added stability, the mattress has a built-in base plate, so the cot stands firmly on the floor without rocking.

The cot sides are made using soft and airy mesh fabric so your baby will be well ventilated, plus it allows you to see in and out of the cot so you can keep an eye on them. The travel cot materials are free of harmful substances and are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 approved.

The BABYBJÖRN travel cot includes a soft mattress, so your child can sleep in complete comfort. It is designed for children from newborn to approximately three years and has no upper weight limit.

All things considered, it’s one of our favorite caravan travel cots – and not just for use in the caravan either. These work just as well in the nursery at home, meaning your little one will be familiar with their surroundings.

It’s not as small as some of our other options, but it’s more flexible in that it is suitable for toddlers (up to 3 years old), too.

Fingers crossed for a good night’s sleep!

Graco travel cot

The Graco compact caravan cot provides your child with a place to both rest and plays when you’re away from home on your caravan travels. The travel cot is portable and folds down simply using the signature Graco push-button fold into a compact size.

A carry bag is also included for convenient transport and storage. The cot also has Fully padded top rails for added support and sturdiness. The cot is easy to assemble and is suitable for children from birth to 3 years old, providing a great travel sleeping option for babies and toddlers alike.

The base of the cot is sturdy but also has a mattress included, so it’s comfortable to sleep on, but if you require more comfort you can buy and insert an additional mattress.

The cot has airy mesh sides that keep it well ventilated, whilst also providing a convenient window so you can check that your little one is actually asleep!

Deryan-travel-cot

The Deryan travel cot with a self-inflating bed is a compact pop up travel bed which weighs just 1.8kg, making it extremely portable but remains very stable when it’s time for your child to sleep. The cot is easy to set up and takes a few seconds – literally. It just pops right up.

You can also close the tent, which is ideal if you want to let your baby sleep peacefully. The cot is suitable for children up to the age of 2 years and comes complete with sleeping mat, self-inflatable mattress (2,5 cm) and carry bag.

Whilst it says that it’s suitable for toddlers, we think 2 years is a bit of a stretch. This cot is probably better for babies that are not yet “up and running” – if you know what we mean!

The materials used are fire retardant and 50% UV resistant. The mattress included is self-inflating and is built to ensure that they can’t crawl underneath it, while the mattress is also non-toxic.

The Baby Luxe cot also provides extra protection against the sun, mosquitoes and other insects, giving you extra peace of mind.

Baby Caravan Cot Twinkle Twinkle

Koo-di has made a name for themselves in the travel cot space, and the Koo-di Sun & Sleep Pop Up Travel Bubble Cot is an effective alternative to a traditional travel cot – which tends to be heavy and bulky.

This cot is super lightweight while also being easy to pack away. It’s suitable for indoor and outdoor use and comes complete with a padded base mattress to make sure your child is comfortable throughout their sleep.

When not in use, the cot neatly packs away into its carry bag. It’s suitable for babies up to 6 month – you’re definitely not getting a toddler in here!

There is a zip-up mosquito net which protects your child from insects, and it has a blackout blind which can block out UVA & UVB rays – or simply usher your baby to sleep if there are too many distractions in the caravan.

The bubble cot weighs just 2kg.

A great lightweight and portable choice while you’re on your travels. And it looks pretty cute, too.

Koo-Di Caravan Bassinette

This bassinette is ideal if you have a baby who is under six months, or if they can’t sit unaided – as this gives them added support. The Koo-di Bassinette is versatile, so you’re not just limited to using it in a caravan but also when you’re at home.

It’s quick and easy to use and measures 80 cm length by 50 cm width by 58 cm height. It’s not going to take up much space in your caravan, but it should provide a comfortable night’s sleep.

The Koo-Di Bassinette comes supplied with a comfortable padded mattress and integrated zip-up mosquito net for added protection.

The Bassinette quickly and easily folds into a compact carry bag that measures just 28 cm wide.

What To Look For In A Caravan Travel Cot

Ensuring baby sleeps well is pretty high on our list of priorities when travelling in a caravan.

(And in life, period!)

Here are some important factors to consider:

Some caravan travel cots give you the option to place an elevated bassinet or base into the floor of the cot.

This is best suited for babies up to six months for those that can sit up without help. An elevated floor means that you don’t need to bend down as far when it’s time to pick your baby up. This is ideal if you suffer from mobility issues, especially in the back and knees.

Very important.

The majority of caravan travel cots will be built for children aged from birth up to 3 years old who weigh under 15kg. Despite this, the weight and age limits can vary from model to model, so it’s important to check this with each manufacturer before you make a final purchasing decision.

The max weight will be linked to the size of the cot. For example, If it’s only designed for babies up to six months, then it’s likely to be much smaller in size.  Travel cots for toddlers will take up significantly more space.

It’s important to understand both the assembled and folded size of the cot. You need to ensure that you have enough room in your caravan for it to stay when your baby’s sleeping.

You also need to understand the size of it once it’s folded down as this will allow you to understand where in your caravan you can store it when it’s not in use.

This is one of the most important factors considering you’re going to be travelling.

Ideally, you’ll want to find a cot that is as light as possible without compromising its safety and sturdiness. This is because you’re going to be carrying it regularly while you’re on your travels whether that’s moving it from the car to the caravan or moving it into position each night when it’s your child’s bedtime.

Travel cots can be more than just space for your child to sleep in, but can also double up as a play area when they’re awake. This also gives you a space that you can safely place a child without the danger of them crawling around the caravan where they can get into accidents.

Most travel cots will have a mattress included which is often foldable. The included mattress is often average quality as they can be too thin, so usually, people tend to purchase their own thicker mattress as this will provide more support for the child throughout the night.

If it’s only going to be used for a few nights a year, then you may not be too bothered about using the supplied mattress. But if they’re going to be using it for long periods such as a two-three week holiday, then you’ll want to purchase a higher quality option.

You can’t buy peace and quiet, but you can certainly improve the chances…

Note: The same applies for adults in caravans with mattress toppers and suitable bedding .

Is it normal for you to arrive at your destination late at night? If yes, then this is one of the reasons you need to consider how easy it is to assemble the travel cot when you’re ready to use it. You don’t want a cot that’s fiddly and takes 30 minutes of frustration to get into place, especially if you’re in a rush or its late at night.

Travel cots come in a range of different prices, and this will depend on several factors, including the brand and the amount of added features that it comes with. Your main priority should be to ensure that it’s a high-quality, safe sleep space and it doesn’t hurt to spend a little more to ensure that you’re getting the highest quality cot.

It’s crucial to make sure that you only buy a travel cot that has passed all the relevant safety standard tests and regulations. This makes it safe for your child to sleep while minimises accidents occurring throughout the night.

Higher quality cots will have passed all these regulations, so you’re better off paying a little more for a high-quality cot.

Depending on the brand of the cot, you may be offered a warranty period with each cot that your purchase.

This essentially gives you added protection so in the case that a fault develops, the manufacturer will offer you support in the form of either a replacement or repair. This gives you the added peace of mind that the manufacturer believes in the quality of their product.

As you may have already noticed, there are many different brands, so it’s essential to understand that some brands will be better than others. You need to ensure your child will be safe so ideally, you will buy from a brand that has been established more many years leading to it having a strong reputation for high-quality products.

Generally, the higher the brand quality and reputation, the more expensive their products will be. However, this will often mean that the cot will last longer and have more features, so overall, both you and your child’s experience will be better.

There are many areas where it’s fine to skimp on quality – we don’t believe this is one of them!

Tips For Using a Caravan Travel Cot or Bassinette

Even if your child sleeps in a cot at home, we recommend that you allow them to sleep in the travel cot before you go away. They may need a little time to get used to sleeping in it, and the last thing you want is to find this out when you’re in the caravan, and they’re uncomfortable with their new surroundings.

It’s normal for babies to take a little while to get used to new environments so if you want a good night’s sleep then let them acclimatise to the new travel cot before you go on holiday.

Now you may be thinking if there’s a difference between a standard travel cot and a caravan travel cot and the answer is yes.

You can use a standard cot, but it’s likely to be larger which may not be suitable for the restricted nature of a caravan.

They are likely to be too wide, so you might only be able to use it in the communal areas, which may mean that you won’t be close to your child throughout the night.

Caravan cots are usually slightly slimmer in size while still being big enough for your child to sleep comfortably.

UK'S NUMBER ONE CARAVAN BLOG

Caravan travel cot.

Are you thinking about buying a caravan but are concerned about where the baby will sleep? Do you already have a caravan and wonder about the best place to put your little one? Are you going on holiday to a caravan and you aren’t sure where your baby cot will fit in? Whatever your problem or worry about your baby sleeping in a caravan, we will find a way to make it work. Lets take a look at some of the best small travel cots that are suitable for a caravan.

Table of Contents

Best Caravan Travel Cots

1. sleeptight travel cot – grey. lightweight padded travel cot suitable from birth.

haven caravan travel cot

This Travel bed is a cosy bed for baby to sleep in, and it’s great if your little one will happily sleep through the night. It’s quite large at 100 x 60 x 58cms and will suit babies from 6 months to 18 months. It’s attractive in aubergine and white. It’s easy to set up and collapse down again, and it fits into a carry bag neatly. When your little one gets too big for it, it can become a place to play in for your little one.

If you are traveling abroad this will keep mosquitos away from your baby, and there is an inflatable mattress which can be bought separately, along with fitted sheets so it will be perfectly comfortable for your precious son or daughter.

If your baby is younger or you would prefer the cosiness of a bassinette then take a look at this.

2. Koo-di 80 x 50 x 58 cm Sun and Sleep Pop Up Travel Bassinette

haven caravan travel cot

The bassinette is available in lemon and lime, beige and polka dot so you can choose whichever goes best with your decor. It is smaller than the bubble travel cot at just 80 x 50 x 58cms and again it is a lovely place for your baby to sleep. You can also purchase the inflatable mattress with this product for extra comfort, and some people like to put the mattress provided on top of the inflatable mattress for ultimate comfort. The sheet is 100% cotton jersey and is washable at 40 degrees,

To make putting the sheet on easier, just inflate the mattress three-quarters full of air, and then put the sheet on. Finish by filling the mattress with air and the sheet will be perfect.

The bassinette is just right for babies up to six months and you can be sure your little one is comfortable and safe in their crib. You can fit the crib into tiny places, making sure it doesn’t take up too much room but ensuring your baby is safe and comfortable.

The bassinette has won the 2005 baby gear gold award and the 2006 baby gear silver award , so you can be sure that you have a quality product that will suit your baby. Unless your baby can roll over, you could put this on top of a bottom bunk bed in a caravan or in between two single beds in the twin room. Of course, no baby ever fell off the floor so my preference would be to have this lovely crib near your bed on the floor, so you can be there in an instant if your little one needs you.

Bassinette sheet and inflatable mattress available here

3. Portable Baby Bed Travel Bassinet Foldable Infant Crib, Baby Cots Portable Cots

haven caravan travel cot

This is the Sun and Sleep travel cot, and this would be the travel cot I would choose for my little ones, because it has an integrated blackout cover. If your babies are used to sleeping in a perfectly dark room and you use blackout curtains at home, then this could be just right for your baby. The same easy set up as the other travel cots, this travel cot is slightly larger at 100 x 60 x 73cm.

Another great thing about this small travel cot for a caravan is, it is perfect to take to the beach because the cover protects your little one from 93% of UVA and UVB rays . I would still put on some cream on my baby especially if they are very little, but it is good to know that while they are in their crib, they are safe from the suns dangerous rays.

Another great bonus is the inflatable mattress will also fit this bubble travel cot, so you can have your baby as comfortable as can be and safe from the sun. All travel cots or bassinettes come with a carry case to keep everything together, very useful for caravanners.

4. Deryan Travel Cot Luxe Silver

Deryan Travel Cot Luxe Silver

This travel cot is made from flame retardant fabric and blocks out 50% of UVA rays, so it is good for taking with you to the beach for your little one to play in, as well as for sleeping in. It is suitable for babies from 0-2 years, and it is 120 x 75 x 46cm, so slightly larger than a usual travel cot. The 120cm is obviously the length, width is 75cms, height is 46cms.

It probably wouldn’t fit a tall two-year-old but it is good for little ones. With the width being 2’6″, you may need to think whether it will fit between single beds in a caravan – it might be something you need to check out. Of course, you could put this on the floor of the caravan, and it still wouldn’t take up much room, certainly less than a traditional travel cot.

The cot comes with an inflatable mattress, so you would need to provide cot sheets but so long as they are flat and not fitted, I’m sure they would be fine. This travel cot comes with a carry bag about the size of a cushion, so it would easily fit in a suitcase.

5. Safe T Sleep

Safe T Sleep

Finally, the Safe T Sleep. This is a small portable device that will wrap around any mattress with a depth of 15 cm (6 inches) or more. If you imagine two layers of fabric, one to go around the mattress and attached to it a T-shaped piece of fabric that goes around your baby. Wrap the long bit round the mattress. Pop your little one on the T fabric. Wrap one side around your baby’s left side. Pull up the bottom bit of the T between their legs. Wrap the other piece of fabric round their middle.

Your baby is now attached to the mattress and cannot wiggle out of bed. They can move their arms and legs, they can play with their feet, suck their thumbs and self-sooth. But they cannot roll over either on their tummy (how many times has your baby rolled over and cried out because they cannot roll back? For me I am sure it’s several million times!), nor can they roll out of bed.

There are different sizes of Safe T Sleep so although each one fits a great variety of size beds, you should check if you think you are going to use a very big bed, bigger than a standard king size.

I would suggest if you are going to try this, then try it at home for a few weeks before you go away on holiday. Your little one may need some time to get used to it, and the same is true of the travel cots or bassinettes. Babies often need a while to get used to new things and since you will be giving them a new experience while on holiday, if you want a good night’s sleep (and who doesn’t?) then get them used to the bed before you go on your holiday.

So, there you have it, I’m not going to lie and say it’s not a challenge caravanning with babies and toddlers. However, I’m also not going to say it’s impossible. Thousands and thousands of families do it every year, so don’t be put off by initial hurdles. Where there’s a will there’s a way, as the old saying goes. If you look at the suggestions outlined above, I am sure you will be able to find one that works for you, your little one(s) and your caravan layout. One thing I can’t help you with, is getting the baby to sleep! That’s your own problem to solve!

Standard Travel Cot

First of all, let me say you can always use a travel cot; but they will not generally fit well into the bedrooms of caravans, they are just too wide to fit in between single beds. So, you would have to keep it in the living area of the caravan, which at best is inconvenient. It may be that you don’t mind collapsing the cot every morning and putting it away, but things like other children getting up to get a drink of water might disturb the baby in the middle of the caravan living space. It certainly isn’t ideal. Thats why the ones above are narrow travel cots for caravans.

Some people have adapted the beds with safety rails and such but if you have a tiny baby who can roll over it still seems a bit risky. Safety rails are there to keep your little ones in their beds, not to give them something to pull up on. If you have someone clever in your family and you have your own caravan, then they can build something made to measure that will do the job perfectly. But sadly, not many of us have a family maintenance person we can rely on for clever inventions. There are some different workarounds though and we will look at two.

Inventive Workarounds

First of all, you can buy a mini travel cot for the caravan, which will fit on the floor between two single beds even in a caravan bedroom. They are completely enclosed and have a mattress, which should be renewed for each baby, and they are very cosy looking. They are not solid, so they wouldn’t prevent a toddler from falling on the baby inside the crib so you would need to have trained toddlers or keep the crib in a separate room. But they are a specific place for your little one to sleep in comfortably, and if they sleep through the night then you won’t be struggling with zips at all hours.

Some of them have blackout sections for you to use, ideal if your baby is used to a totally dark room, and that particular model is one that blocks 93% of the suns UVA and UVB rays. I wouldn’t advise you miss out on the sunblock though, babies burn very easily and that is the very last thing you want to happen, especially when you are on holiday with the family.

An alternative method is very ingenious of keeping your baby attached to the bed. It sounds a bit 1800’s but actually, this method has helped mums and dads get their babies to sleep and has been an absolute godsend for many thousands of families.

It’s called Safe T Sleep and it involves wrapping the little one so that they cannot roll over. The fabric is attached to a larger piece of fabric which is then wrapped around the bed. The mattress has to be 15cm deep, which is six inches. Then the baby is laid on his or her back, one piece of fabric goes around one side of the baby. Then a section goes up the middle, between babies’ legs, then a piece around the right side of the baby. These three sections of fabric are attached to the sheet of fabric that goes around the mattress.

I know it does sound a bit draconian, but thousands of families swear by this method of getting baby to sleep. And one of the highlights of the product is that it folds flat and is easy to transport. So, if your caravan has mattresses of the correct depth, then you can get a Safe T Sleep and you can put your baby on any bed, knowing that although their arms and legs can move around easily, they cannot roll onto their tummies, and they cannot crawl out of bed.

Another good thing about the Safe T Sleep is that it can be used until the baby is two years old, so you can get plenty of use out of it. One of the downsides of the Safe T Sleep is that it is white, so it can get dirty really easily so you may even need to get two, one for the wash and one for the bed.

Hafan Y Mor Haven Review

As Haven holiday lovers, we had been to this site before but stayed in an apartment, we heard amazing things about staying in the static caravans at the Hafan Y Mor holiday park, and we had to check it out for ourselves. Hafan y Môr Holiday Park is one of Haven’s biggest parks, and we decided it was time to go there again and share our honest Hafan y Mor Haven Review with you.

Now if you follow us on YouTube or you have visited our blog before to read other Haven reviews, you will know how much we love our Haven caravan breaks. We have reviewed a few Havens now, you might have seen our Presthaven Sands Review , Primrose Valley Haven Review or our   Blue Dolphin Haven Review . A couple of weeks ago, I also shared my Lakeland Haven Review t oo.

A few years ago, we came to Hafan Y Mor before, and we stayed in a comfortable apartment as there were no caravans left, this wasn’t really for us as I missed being in a caravan. We go to Haven’s as we like the cosiness of a caravan, so I personally wouldn’t rebook the apartments again at Hafan Y Mor.

haven caravan travel cot

Where is Hafan Y Mor located?

Hafan Y Mor Review is located in a place called Pwllheli, Gwynedd, North Wales. It is on the Llyn Peninsula near Porthmadog, an area well known for its stunning beaches and scenery.

What type of accommodation is there at Hafan Y Mor holiday park?

The Hafan Y Mor holiday park has a large selection of accommodation options to suit different budgets. The different types of accommodation include lodges and apartments, and they also have a tent and touring area which is where we would be if we brought our caravan, but we didn’t this time, we opted for the static caravan as we were going with friends.

The caravans range from budget-saver models to more luxury models. This time we opted for a silver Caravan. If you are wondering what to bring to Haven you can read our blog on Items to Bring to Haven.

haven caravan travel cot

Our silver Caravan had the following

  • 2 bedrooms (2 single kids beds in one room and a double bed in a room)
  • A kitchen with a dishwasher
  • A dining Table
  • A decking area
  • A comfortable lounge with a TV on the wall
  • Toilet and shower room
  • Our bedroom had a TV on the wall an an en-suite.

We did have to order a travel cot and also a highchair, we did this as we couldn’t fit anymore in our car. Please note: The travel cots come without a mattress so remember to bring your own. The price to hire the travel cot was £7.50 for the weekend, the high chair was £7.00 to hire which did irritate me slightly. Haven offers family holidays but then charges you for the use of a high chair, I understood the cot, but the highchair was just a bit frustrating, and I could understand why that would annoy people, especially if a family is there on a budget.

DOES HAFAN Y MOR HAVE A TOURING SITE

As we have a caravan, we were interested to know if this amazing park has a touring area for caravans and we are delighted to say it does. We didn’t get a chance to see it but I would like to come back here and review the touring pitch.

Before coming to Hafan Y Mor Haven

A couple of things I recommend you do before coming to Haven;

  • Book your swimming slots, these fill up fast and you don’t want to miss out on this fantastic swimming pool.
  • Book in the restaurant if you want to eat there.
  • Bring a mattress and sheet for the cot if you are going to order one.
  • Order a Morrisons food delivery via Amazon Prime once you know your address (this stops food taking up room in your car and also stops unnecessary spending in the mini markets.)
  • Book your activities on the app to avoid disappointment (be prepared for it to take a while, the app isn’t very user-friendly)

FREE WIFI at Hafan Y Mor

To my delight, Haven has recently been testing out the new caravan wifi boxes which is great. The WIFI was great, it meant the kids could stream, and I could log in to work without worrying so to see this new feature was exciting as lack of WiFi when I have an online business just didn’t an option for me and something I have to consider each and every time we come away to a holiday home for the weekend.

The wifi in the caravan worked well, I am unsure if every caravan now has this, you might want to check before you go if wifi is important to you too.

Swimming at Hafan Y Mor Haven Holiday Park

This swimming pool is awesome, it has slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and young kids’ area. The pool was warm which if you have watched my other videos and read my other blogs is a huge factor for me.

For the changing rooms, you need a pound coin for the lockers, the changing rooms are relatively clean, and there is always a staff member tidying up around everyone.

There is a buggy station where you can park your buggy so don’t worry about trying to carry everything plus a baby,

The changing rooms were mixed which is always handy, but they were a little on the small side, all four of us fit in the changing room but only two of us could get changed at a time due to the size. It would have been handy if they had a changing table for the baby to lie on or a chair they could be strapped in whilst we go ready, my daughter Olivia-Grace is currently 16 months, so she is very much on the go, and the lack of restrictions made it hard work for us.

There is a spectators area where family members can sit and watch, there is also a shop that sells nappies and eveything.

Food Places at Hafan Y Mor

Food is always on my mind, from the moment I wake up till the moment I go to sleep I am thinking about my next meal. If you are  thinking of going to the resturant for a meal I highly recommend booking the restaurant before coming to Haven to make sure you get the time slots you want.

There are the following places to eat at Hafan Y Mor

Take aways at Hafan y mor

– Slim Chicken (love this place) – Burger King – Papa Johns – Cooks Fish and Chips – millies cookies

The Coastal Resturant

We ate at this resturant on Saturday afternoon, the food took a while, and by the time our chips came, we had already finished the food which was a bit frustrating. The food was nice. They wouldn’t heat my daughter’s baby food which I found a bit disappointing because she was due to eat lunch and I had to wait until after to feed her which as you can imagine, it made eating our lunch more stressful than it should have been. After this I wasn’t really fussed to eat at this resturant again.

haven caravan travel cot

The Mini Markets

The mini markets are good, lots in them and you can grab dinner from there and cook it in your caravan. Obviously, the price at these mini markets are more expensive but it did have everything you need.

Food shop delivery

We actually ordered Morrisons delivery to our caravan when we arrived, you can do this for free if you have Amazon Prime. We usually order from Tesco, but they wouldn’t deliver here Morissons did, and this was handy, it meant our car wasn’t too full of shopping and we had a nice delivery pretty much as soon as we arrived on site.

Evening Entertainment at Hafan Y Mor Holiday Park

The evening entertainment was brilliant, as this Haven is bigger there were two entertainment rooms on at the same time.

We started in one and went to the Cove later in the evening. It was bigger and had some great dance music on, it was like reliving our youth with our kids dancing away too. The entertainment is on late which is nice, we were just a 5-minute walk from the entertainment.

The Entertainment team are also on during the day with kids’ entertainment so even on the rainy days there is lots to do, and you aren’t reliant on the weather.

Funworks arcade

As with all Havens, the arcade was really good, they always have lots of machines. If you haven’t been to a haven before you may not be familiar with winning tickets. Most of the machines give you tickets as you win and then when you finish your arcading you put your tickets in a ticket eater, it counts them, and you pick a prize. I must admit that to get a decent prize you need to win a lot of tickets, so the prize ends up costing 5 times the price that you would have paid in a shop but we love it, and it is really good fun.

ACTIVITIES AT Hafan Y Mor

Family karts

Nature Trail

Kayak and Paddleboarding

Aerial adventure

Den Building

Entertainment during the Day at the Holiday Park

The daytime entertainment is great for children of all ages, there is plenty to do during the day. There were lots going on in the day near the swimming pool area and also in the place where the nightly entertainment is. The park in the adventure area is enough to keep children occupied all day. There is also a sand and water pit that my little girl loved going in, her clothes not so much.

Overall Summary of Hafan Y Mor

I loved this haven park, it is definately one of my favourites. There was loads to do, the swimming was incredible and the kids loved it, the entertainment was excellent, there was plenty of food choices. I must admit the resturant experience and having to pay for a high chair were the only negatives on this holiday break, If you are looking for fun and plenty to do then this place is a must visit. I would rate this Haven a massive 9/10.

Haven accommodation: What to expect from a Bronze caravan

  • Haven , Haven Seashore

Family stood outside of a bronze caravan at Haven Seashore

The O'Hallorans

The OHallorans

We’re made up of Lyndsey, John and Erin, who all love a new adventure. We try to get away as much as possible, especially during school holidays and variety is a must for us. That means staying anywhere from a luxury hotel to a hostel and it’s not often we go to the same place twice.

When booking a holiday at any Haven park, it can be hard to know what kind of accommodation to choose. Here’s what you can expect from a bronze caravan to help you make a more informed decision about Haven accommodation.

Haven’s caravan grades

A few years ago Haven changed the names of their caravan grades so they might sound a bit different if you haven’t visited for a few years. Here are the different grades in order of price:

Choosing your Haven holiday home

Something you can now pay extra to do before your family holiday is to choose where your holiday home is. Prices vary depending on the holiday park you’re staying at, and the grade and location of the caravan. This is a great idea if you want to stay in a specific location or only want to be a short walk away from the main facilities. You can find out more about choosing your holiday home in another blog post.

  • A bronze caravan at Haven Seashore

Although we stayed in a bronze caravan at Haven Seashore , the accommodation types are supposed to be pretty standard from one location to another. You can look at the specifics of this particular caravan grade on the  Haven website , as well as those for the Haven saver caravan all the way up to signature caravans.

As standard, a bronze caravan comes with double glazing and central heating. The heating can be turned up or down easily, which was good because we were a bit too warm at times The one thing I wish caravans at Haven had was WiFi, but I don’t think this is going to happen any time soon.

Living room

The living room area is the largest part of the bronze caravan. The decor may vary between locations and caravans but we found ours to be very modern and clean. It was nice that it had a bit of a beach theme/ colouring as well.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan living room

Our living room had a large corner sofa, which was more than enough space for the 4 of us. A footstool was a lovely touch too as it meant we could spread out that little bit more. We also had a small coffee table with storage, which was a great place to keep our games that we’d taken with us. Bronze caravans also get a 32-inch Freeview TV which is mounted on the wall, surrounded by more storage and hidden cupboards to the side. The whole room had a really lovely feeling to it and was a great family room for us.

Although not a dining room on its own, the living room does have a dining table suitable for 4 people. It was pushed next to a window when we arrived and could sit 3 people around it easily. When we wanted all of us to use the table we had to pull it out a bit, which wasn’t a problem. When you’re travelling with children, it’s always nice to have a dining table as it can be used for things like colouring and games as well.

Even in a bronze caravan, which is one of the accommodation options in the lower price ranges, you get a nearly fully equipped kitchen. Although not massive, the kitchen has so much to offer and it means that you need to bring less with you.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan kitchen

Just next to the caravan’s door is a storage cupboard/ where the boiler system is. There is also cleaning equipment like a dustpan and brush. To the side of this we had a large fridge/ freezer, which was turned on when we arrived. This was great for being able to put our food away straight away. If you’re looking to cut some costs and stay on a budget, the fridge makes cooking in the caravan much easier. You can bring whatever you want from home or buy from the shop on site.

Cookware provided in a bronze caravan

In the kitchen, we had a dishwasher, cooker, toaster, kettle, sink, microwave and so much storage space. We actually kept forgetting where we’d put some things because there were so many cupboards! This isn’t a bad thing though. It means you can really spread out and organise anything you bring with you. The kitchen also comes stocked with glasses, plates and cutlery, as well as cooking equipment like pans and a cheese grater. You won’t find absolutely everything you need here but the basics are provided.

It’s important to note that you won’t get things like washing up liquid, tea towels etc. included. Remember to add these to your packing lists!

The bigger of the two bedrooms is what I would consider the master bedroom. This comes with a double bed and sometimes, an additional toilet. This room has bedside tables on each side, over-bed storage, wardrobes and drawers, as well as a make-up/ desk area. We loved how much storage this bedroom had and we could really spread out in the room. Some bronze caravans also have a TV in the main bedroom but this isn’t always guaranteed.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan main bedroom storage

The bed was really comfortable however, the pillows are quite thin and not that great. We found some extra pillows in one of the wardrobes, which I assume are for the sofa bed. We shared these out to make us all a bit more comfortable. If you’re driving to your Haven holiday, it might be an idea to take your own pillow/s if you’re a bit particular about them! If you’re wondering where to store your suitcases, there’s plenty of space underneath the bed.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan main bedroom

The second bedroom is what I would usually say is the children’s bedroom. This room is significantly smaller than the main bedroom and squeezes two single beds in. These beds share a bedside table in the middle and there is a very small amount of space in the middle of the beds. The beds also seem smaller than an average single bed, with not much space to turn over if you’re an adult.

Although a small room, there was plenty of storage for two people. Along with over the bed cupboards, there was also a wardrobe and hooks on the side. There is plenty of space in this room for children, especially if it’s just somewhere to sleep and store their clothes etc.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan bedroom 2

The bathroom is the smallest area in a bronze caravan and included a toilet, sink, some space for storage and a shower. Bronze caravans don’t come with towels or bath mats so this is something you’ll need to bring with you from home. The walls offer a radiator and a couple of hooks so there is space to hang the towels once they are wet. What was nice about this bathroom was the storage space. We had plenty of space to put all of our toiletries and additional toilet rolls that we’d brought with us. You only get one when you arrive to this is essential when you do your packing.

Haven Seashore bronze caravan bathroom

Sometimes with caravans, the water pressure isn’t great but our shower was lovely. This could obviously change depending on location though. The water was always hot however, if someone us using the sink in the kitchen, this could be affected.

For the duration of your stay you usually get free parking next to your caravan. This will vary depending on your Haven location but we’ve only ever seen the odd caravan that didn’t have a parking space right next to it. In this case, there has been parking just on the road in front instead.

Would we choose a bronze caravan again?

We loved our stay in this bronze caravan at Haven Seashore. it was one of the more comfortable accommodations that we’ve stayed in at a caravan park and it was the ideal place for us as a family. Haven caravans have plenty to offer, no matter which grade you go for and if you want something basic, this one is ideal. A few differences between this and a Haven gold caravan are a patio/ decking area and a bit more space inside and when I want a cheap holiday, this isn’t worth paying for. The bronze caravan was great value for our family holiday, had a lovely living area and comfortable beds. What more could I ask for!

haven caravan travel cot

Would we be able to fit a baby travel cot in the main bedroom with us in any of your caravans? Many thanks.

haven caravan travel cot

It was a bit of a squeeze but my daughter did manage to put her normal size travel cot in the double bedroom and she had only booked a standard size caravan.

haven caravan travel cot

You will struggle to put a cot in the master bedroom as it's usually very tight around the bedroom. You could use the twin bedroom and put the two beds on top of each other which would leave space for the travel cot on one side.

haven caravan travel cot

We had a prestige van and no you definitely can't fit on in there. What we did was put out two boys in the one bedroom and the other we put the two mattresses on one bed and lifted the single b do up on its end and put the travel cot in there, hope this helps

haven caravan travel cot

I fitted an asda travel cot in a prestige bedroom but that left us with squeezing past to get into bed but was okay as we wanted him to sleep in bedroom not living room.

haven caravan travel cot

The Bronze caravans are small. The Silver and Gold would be better but with the silver there isn't much living space. If you wanted to put a cot in the main bedroom id suggest going for a gold caravan, it may cost a bit extra but at least you won't be cramped. I have been going to Quay West for 13 years and started in the bronze caravans then when had kids had to get bigger ones.

Have a walk around as well because lots of people private let and you can get some amazing caravans with cracking views.

Ours would have been too small for travel cot but there are different mobile home sizes and configurations so there may be something suitable upon enquiring with holiday park

Haven Allhallows Review: Family Holiday in Kent

Haven Caravan Family Holiday with Pool in Allhallows Kent near London – I wasn’t a mobile home/holiday camp person.

It wasn’t me.

Some accommodation fell through in London.

We googled.

We found Haven Holiday Park in Allhallows , Kent – an hour’s drive from London.

We gave it a chance.

It was wonderful.

I am a convert.

You should go. 🙂

ACCOMMODATION – Haven Allhallows Review

My preconceived, outdated idea of a static caravan was a draughty, desolate space with hard beds in cramped conditions. Our Haven mobile home was simply ace.

Haven Caravan Family Holiday with Pool in Allhallows Kent near London

Our static caravan was far bigger and more luxurious than many hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, and cosy and homely too. I think ours was newly decorated as it was faultless. The living area, dining area and kitchen were open plan, there were two twin rooms (one for my mother in law and the other for Mr Toddler) and one double room (for me, Mr Husband and Mr Baby to share).

All the bedrooms were very snug but that wasn’t a problem as the storage was well thought out and as long as we can fit both babies in the bed for morning coffee we’re happy.

The shower here had it going on – it was Hot, Hot, Hot and blastin’. Happy days. I felt at home in a mobile home, you can’t really ask for more.

Haven Allhallows Review

I’ll stop obsessing over the accommodation now.

Facilities – Haven Allhallows Review

We stayed in a Superior 3 Bedroom mobile home but whatever type of accommodation you choose bear in the mind that the price also gives access to good onsite facilities – the indoor pool was cool, the two outdoor pools were brilliant.

You’re not allowed to take photographs poolside but trust me, we were lying on the sun loungers, splashing around, watching big kids hurtle down a slide. We lucked out with the weather, which naturally made a huge difference.

There’s lot of kids activities – some free, some cost extra – and lots of sports zones such as archery, a fishing lake, tennis courts, kart hire etc.  You can rent lots of extra goodies to make your stay more comfortable too, from deck chairs to giant jenga, and overall the security and staffing levels were high.

Food & Drink – Haven Allhallows Review

The restaurant was super child-friendly because pretty much everyone staying here has kids. We ate at 5pm before attempting the ‘go to sleep’ mantra and holiday-wine-o’clock commenced.

Child friendly Restaurant

There was evening entertainment each night, which we didn’t attend because we’re pure anti-social – we have two children under two, same thing. I’m sure that in a few years if my boys are singing their wee hearts out to the Proclaimers or Abba I’ll burst with pride.

The whole place felt like a giant cul de sac where kids are free to run and play and scoot and peddle, transporting you back to the vibe of the 1950s but with all the comfort of the 21st century.

Haven Allhallows Review

The Allhallows site is on the coast at the mouth of the Thames.  Aside from the organised entertainment and facilities Mr Toddler spent a good 40 minutes throwing pebbles in the sea demonstrating that simple pleasures count for a lot.

I could be here all day

Nearby is the castle town of Rochester on the river Medway. This isn’t bucket list stuff but it was good to venture out and leave the holiday park to visit a piece of England I wasn’t familiar with.  We had a picnic in the sun in the grounds of the castle, ate ice cream and played in the park.

Mr Toddler takes a tour of Rochester by piggy back

When we returned to the park, the staff were notably welcoming and so were the other guests.  Good mood central.

I met one woman on holiday with her newborn baby and three (yes, three) other children. Her husband had to work so, rather than cancel, she’d taken the holiday alone, so to speak. If by any chance at all she is reading this I salute her. 🙂

ADDITIONAL INFO

You can book to stay three nights (arrive Friday, check out Monday) which we did, or stay a week.

There’s a shop onsite for basic grocery shopping.

The kitchen was well equipped but there were no towels, dishcloths or toilet paper provided and I wasn’t expecting this. I don’t mean soft, fluffy bath towels (we had brought our own) but I hadn’t thought to pack a tea towel, hand towels for the toilet or a dishcloth for the kitchen. Live and learn.

If travelling with infants then the double room was just big enough for a bassinet for Mr Baby. To get a travel cot into one of the twin rooms for Mr Toddler we had to gently up end a bed and place it on top of the other bed to create space – but it worked. Travel cots are available to hire if you can’t bring your own.

Haven offers 35 holiday parks around the coast so you can find one that works for you geographically.

We flew from Aberdeen to London City with FlyBe , picked up a very reasonably priced hire car at the airport, spent two nights with relatives in London before heading to Haven. And yes, we’d happily visit another Haven holiday camp.

This sounds like a great place to stay for a family! I can’t imagine ever traveling with all three of my children alone, so I also applaud that woman you mentioned. Good to know about bringing your own towels, toilet paper, etc. I wouldn’t have thought of that. Great review!

Thank you! Yes, the devil is in the detail 🙂

Looks amazing! thanks for sharing 🙂

It seemed you had a great time. I love your pics. Thanks for sharing this post.

The sun was shining and it just exceeded my expectations 🙂

Aww, we stayed at All Hallows this year too. It’s a great site! My husband was of the same opinion as younat first but now he’s also a convert. One of us. One of us.

Yip, I’ve moved over to the park side.

This looks like so much fun! Beautiful pictures!

Thank you. It was good fun and good value too – always a bonus.

I love how you call your baby Mr.Baby and Mr.Toddler haha and this makes me wish I could visit London. I want to go so bad! A trip to England does NOT sound fun with a 8 month old and a 2.5 yr old. The trip must wait. Great post 🙂

Thanks. Long haul is a thought. We want to visit relatives in New York so maybe 2016.

For some reason I always thought that mobile homes was an american thing! So cool they have this in London. That castle in rochester was so beautiful! This really looked like a well planned trip, especially because you had 2 little ones along for the ride!

Static caravans and mobile homes are everywhere ! 🙂

Caravanning With Baby - Any Tips ?

For this season we will be accompanied by my 4 year old son (he loves it) and a baby born on 19 January. She's bottle fed, so it will be easier to use EHU and the microwave steriliser, but we can't find a solution to sleeping arrangements.

She's quite long and nearly fills her Moses basket already. Travel cots seem too bulky to fit in the van (and leave room for us), so does anyone know of a large moses basket or a small travel cot that might be suitable!

Any other tips would be welcome too.

The van is a four berth with two "bed areas" - not bunks

i'll be following this thread with interest as we are in a identical position with 20 month old and a 6 month old children. our van has bunks the the eldest will be in the bottom bunk but we are not sure what to do about the youngest who will be 8 months old when we go caravaning.

The only time we had a problem was when an April frost prevented the gas (butane) from lighting to make her morning feed. At six in the morning. We luckily had a propane as a spare but had to go out in the cold frost to change it over.

She is now 22 years old.

Will a travel cot not sit on the one bed base without the cushion

We had the same issue last year with our 6 month old daughter. After a lot of searching we purchased the following -

This fits on the bottom bunk, however as it's slightly bigger & is flexible it can easily be wedged in.

We may be a little peculiar but we just slept with ours in the same bed!

Our eldest is now 2 and for her first years caravaning we used a travel cot at the back of the van ( on the bed without cushions) also meant we could close the area off for her .

Last year she was on the same bed but instead of the travel cot she was on a childs airbed which had inflatable sides. This year we have a new addition due on 4 May, so our caravaning season will be starting a little later than usual, July is our planned first time out but we have swapped the van for one with twin fixed single beds hoping that this year little one will be in her mosses basket but big sister was too big for her mosses within weeks at a birth weight of 10. 5pounds so may have to rethink this also and her big sister will be on the other bed.

Good luck and enjoy

When ours was a baby he used to go on the side bed and we got a side guard that went under the cushions and stuck up to prevent falling out.

Also found a small sleeping bag that had shoulder straps to keep in place. Google Grobag baby sleeping bag.

A think the type of layout in your Van will determine the best option. We were fortunate to have a Compass Omega when Wee Smeesh went on his first trip. Think he was round- a- bout 3 to 4 months old. The Omega had a Dinette which as you know turns into a single or bunk bed configuration. When we took the table away the travel Cot fitted snugly between the chairs. Result. Don't know how we would cope now with a fixed double bed but to be honest never went away much until the Wee man was 18 months old and it was Bedlam !!!

Those pop up cots are ideal or graco petite is a small travel cot £30 off in argos at the moment have a look at those, they are worth having even to use as a playpen when the oven is on or when you're trying to put up the awning to keep the little one safe.

Oh and yes last year we slept with one of ours in the bed, hubby woke up every morning wrapped around the chest of drawers and I slept hanging out of bed while the little one star fished across the whole bed

Later I had to make a bed guard to stop her falling out of the bed, as the shop bought type looked liked they would throttle her if she did.

The Graco Petite was the smallest suitable one we could find last year. We used this in a bailey ranger on the single side dinette bed but have now changed to the provence. I got some thin board from B&Q and cut this into a sheet to fit over the wooden slates. ....thus giving a solid base. The end bedroom is big enough to put a full size travel cot either side and then these can be used as children single beds until they get to tall (should last till they are 7(ish)). The benefit of an end bedroom layout is you can close the parition and sit at the other end to watch TV once they are asleep. We just found the side dinette in the ranger didn't work for us as when the baby was asleep we were relegated to the Awning! We also got a blow up baby bath from amazon which is great if you don't have good site facilities and used this in the awning.

We have a double bed at the back. Baby slept with her older sister (3). Put cushions around the bits where she may bump her head and put her in a gro-bag.

Worked well, and being near someone she knew settled her nicely.

I think every 'van will have a solution, but it will differ depending on your van.

Kids are now 2 and 4, and still sleep in same bed.

Ours is a 5 berth, so once they get a bit bigger we can make up the 5th bed which is a bunk

When our youngest was born (he's now 7) we had an old Sprite Alpine that had the dinette / double bed at the front so we used that, eldest didn't always come and when he did him and middle son top and tailed on the bottom bunk as they were small enough and the youngest slept on the hammock type top bunk as he was light enough. We put a cushion at the back so he couldn't bump into the wall and one at the front so he couldn't roll out although he was newborn so not much chance of that. He always slept sound at the caravan.

When he got older and more "wriggly" which wasn't long again he'd top and tail with the middle son and we had one of the bed guards mentioned above that tucked under the cushion. If the eldest did come one of the eldest two would sleep on the floor with a matress and sleeping bag!

We were seasonal ahd had a non EHU pitch so gas only and sterilised bottles with boiled kettle water and again as said, the basin was a bath!

Buggy was kept in the awning. We did think about bringing it in and letting him sleep in that as we always took the lightweight one but you could lie it flat too but then I worried he might get uncomfy.

Now the eldest and middle 13 & 10 now have slept in the awning as has the youngest occassionally or the eldest two in a small tent outside (when they're brave enough).

My current caravan had a bunk bed fitted but also had a bit damp in the corner. I'm wary of bunk beds in caravans as it is, just my paranoia!! but repaired the damp and put the bunk back up as the kids wanted to keep it. It was solid enough but I was still wary, then the youngest two chickened out and no one wanted to sleep in it so I said ***** it and removed it. Now back to the old "one in the bed, one on floor" as there's no room to top and tail however in the better weather if any of them brave it they might use the tent again.

We have a 15month old and when we started going away last year we used a normal cot side for a childs bed to stop our son from falling out of bed. We also put a couple of extra cushions at the bottom of his bed to keep him in. Check the small print of cot sides to determine if they are suitable for divans or slatted beds. Ours is for both and works a treat. Hinge for collapsing is few inches up from the base so doesnt interfere with lip of caravan seat/bed. Only problem we have now is he is more active and I have been looking online for some sort of protection from the side of the caravan. I came across a website called toddleoff today and they sell foam bumpers which look fab. They were in the camping section. Plan to order one later. Also got a fab portable booster/mini high chair from mothercare today for £19. 99 which folds down and has its own storage bag. Great for caravan - can pop it away after meals. It had 5 point harness and detachable tray. Also high back on it not just a glorified bumbo. Hope this helps!

Kiddiecare. com do a small space saver cot which fits nicely into a room of willer by Granada . we purchased one and how we put this in was to push the single together and this leaves plenty space for the cot and its not to cramped

Our first caravan experience as a family was when our youngest son was three months old. His big sister is almost three years older and we had held off for the first years of her life thinking it would be too difficult, and what a mistake. We bought a bed guard as someone mentioned above and he was put into a baby sleeping bag that was exactly the same as he used in his cot at home.

Kennels, that's what you need, either boarding kennels until little one is big enough to help set up the caravan, or you can get a large cage type kennel from Jolleyes it will fit in the awning nicely. Boarding kennels will do training as well, for retrieving things like the remote or obedience training.

We used to use a product called a safe-t-sleep sleep wrap which attaches round a matress and the secures the bany to any bed.

V good, can also put a safety pin in it to stop bigger kids opening it up.

We used it with out little girl until she was about 3.

Our little one (11 months) gets the whole double fixed bed to herself (we have to make up the front double)! Wasn't what we planned when we bought the van, but the bed guard (cage) fits nicely across the gap between bulkhead and bathroom wall (wouldn't work on an island bed). From 3 - 5 months, we all slept together.

Apart from having to be fairly quiet after she has gone to sleep, it works well and is easier than the tent with the little one.

If you change your mind about being part of the Choose Your Holiday Home scheme, or wish to cancel your holiday, you are entitled to a refund on your Choose Your Holiday Home charge, refunded onto the card you paid on. Please call the relevant park to arrange for your refund and quote your booking reference. You should be aware that by cancelling your Choose Your Holiday Home reservation, you have not necessarily cancelled your holiday. For guests using the scheme, there may be incidences where we have to move your pre-booked location due to a fault with your holiday home or replace the holiday home with a different model to what was originally shown. We will endeavour to ensure that you are informed of this change and find you alternative accommodation of the same level as you booked or offer you a full refund on your Choose Your Holiday Home charge.

h. Choose Your Check-in Time

Choose Your Check-in Time is a scheme to enable our guests to select their check-in time on the day of arrival (subject to availability for your chosen time). You will see an addon in “Extras” section within 'My Account' offering you the option to pre-book your chosen check-in time, either at the time of booking or after you have completed your holiday booking. If you change your mind and wish to cancel your pre-selected check-in time, this can be done by cancelling the addon within your account, providing it is more than 7 days prior to arrival. If we are unable to fulfil your chosen check-in time (for instance, because of an unexpected issue with your accommodation), then we will endeavour to ensure that you are informed of this change prior to arrival to advise you of your new check-in time. In such circumstances, your check-in time payment will be refunded in full.

i. Haven Food & Drink Card

Haven Food & Drink Card is available to guests when purchasing a holiday directly with Haven or via their online booking account, only up to 24 hours prior to the holiday start date and can be purchased in set values between £100 and £300. Group Organisers may purchase on behalf of the whole group a maximum total of £300. Maximum purchase of £300 per booking. Haven Food & Drink Card will be issued to guests in the form of a digital voucher with a redemption code. The code will be issued to the lead guest on the first day of your holiday and must be downloaded from haven.com/experience. Any value purchased on Haven Food & Drink Card is linked to a specific Haven Holiday booking only and is not transferrable to another holiday booking. The total value purchased on Haven Food & Drink Card (including the free 10%) can only be redeemed on the Haven Park linked to the holiday booking and for the duration of the linked holiday booking only. If you wish to remove the Haven Food and Drink Card from your booking, a full refund of the money paid can be obtained up to 24 hours before the start date of the holiday, after this time Haven Food & Drink Card is non-refundable. Haven Food & Drink Card can be used at all Food & Drink venues on the park (including the restaurants, show-bar and takeaways) with the exception of a small number of standalone karts (such as Costa Tuktuk). Haven Food & Drink Card is not redeemable at the following venues: supermarkets (including bakery), fun shops, arcades, swimming pool shops or for any Activities & Leisure. The list of eligible venues may change from time to time, a list of venues is available on the Haven website. Haven Food & Drink Card cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount card including the Haven Owner or Owner Friends and Family Cards. Haven takes no responsibility for your Haven Food & Drink Card redemption code being used by someone else, once issued it remains the responsibility of the lead guest. Any value left on the Haven Food & Drink Card at the end of the holiday expires, is non-refundable, cannot be transferred to another holiday or exchanged for cash.

a. Who's coming

Please check your booking confirmation as soon as you receive it because it's only the people on that confirmation who can occupy our accommodation and use our facilities. Please make sure you tell us as soon as possible if any of the details of your booking change after you've booked. If anyone not on your booking confirmation is found in occupation, we will cancel your booking and all guests on your booking, as well as the unauthorised persons, will be asked to leave the park immediately and without refund.

The total number of people coming with you (including children and babies) mustn't be more than the capacity of your caravan holiday home. In most cases, this will be 6 or 8 people maximum so please check your confirmation carefully. If you do go over the maximum number then we'll, unfortunately, have to turn away any extra people at check-in. You and members of your party who are 18 or over may be required to provide photographic identification (valid driving licence or passport) at any time during your stay.

b. Important information and updates

Wherever possible, important information updates about your holiday will be published and available for you to view online at Haven.com . Please check your emails and our website in the lead up to your holiday. To continually receive the latest information please ensure we have your current contact details and your email address. To avoid disappointment, we would recommend pre-booking your activities where possible.

c. Bringing a baby

If you need a cot or highchair, you need to ask for it when you book, and we'll do our best to get you one. A hire charge is payable for these items and a £10 deposit is required which will be returned to you at the end of your holiday. While our holiday homes are quite spacious, most won't be able to fit a standard sized travel cot in the bedroom. Most of our guests find that the living room is the best place to put them.

d. Bringing your kids

There's plenty of exciting indoor and outdoor stuff for kids to do at Haven. Our activities are very popular and fill up quickly, so you'll need to book activities either before you go or as soon as possible after you arrive. Please visit haven.com/experience to book activities. We'll do everything we can to keep you and your little ones safe at Haven, but your kids remain your responsibility at all times and you must make sure they do what our team say. Please note that services and facilities for children are not childcare facilities, and kids aged 8 and under may not be left alone without full adult supervision.

e. Guests and disabilities

We've built our caravan holiday homes and facilities to suit a range of access needs. If you have a disability or are travelling with someone who does, please let us know at the time of booking. We will do our best to meet your requirements, but they cannot always be guaranteed. If your special request is a necessity for you to be able to take a holiday, or any member of your party has restricted mobility or access requirements, please contact our disability advisers to book your holiday. They can give you advice and information about our parks, caravan holiday homes and facilities – and they'll do their best to design you a great holiday. We do, of course, accept accredited guide dogs in all of our caravan holiday homes and in all areas of our parks. This does mean we can't guarantee that we've never had any dogs in our accommodation.

f. Food allergies

All our team members in food and beverage are trained in food allergen awareness. If you have a food allergy or special dietary requirement, please talk to one of our team members before ordering your food. Our food is all handled and prepared very carefully. We will give you as much information as we can about the ingredients and how the food is prepared so you can make an informed decision about whether or what to order in our venues.

g. Dogs and other pets in our parks

We welcome (well-trained) dogs in different grades of our caravan holiday homes and on some of our pitches in all our parks except Burnham-on-Sea and Riviere Sands for a small charge. Up to two dogs are welcome in designated accommodation. There is no additional cost when booking directly with Haven as it is incorporated into your overall holiday price. If you have booked with a promotional partner there will be a charge of £40 per night per dog. Dogs with touring and camping guests will cost £1 per pet per night (up to 2 dogs per pitch). We don't accept dogs listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act which are: Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and Japanese Tosa and XL Bully. We can sometimes take other types of pet–but you'll need to ask the General Manager at the park before you book. On our parks that welcome dogs, you will be able to take your dog into certain areas of our restaurants, patios and terraces. You will not be able to take dogs or other animals into JD Wetherspoons; venues, beer gardens or outside pavement areas on Haven parks, except for assistance dogs (please see paragraph 3(e) of these terms 'Guests and disabilities' for more details). Please bear in mind that you won't be able to take your pet into our entertainment venues, or other public areas, including outdoor pools.

Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times whilst on our parks and the lead guest is responsible for the behaviour of your party’s dog. If you have a dog that's behaving badly or affecting the comfort of other guests, we will ask you to take them away. Should we have concerns about the safety of others, or that your dog may not be under control, we will ask you and your party to leave the park (without refund).

h. Bringing a vehicle to the park

We'll do our best to give you a parking space next to your caravan holiday home or pitch – but we can't guarantee this. If you're planning to bring something that's not a car with you (a lorry, van, motorbike, jet ski or boat, for example), please check with your park before you book – some parks don't have the space, and some can't accept large or noisy vehicles. Branded vehicles or vehicles with signage on the side are not allowed on park and may be turned away. We're really happy that some of our guests are using hybrid cars to help protect our lovely environment. Please do not use your caravan holiday home electricity to do this. We're working on ways we can help you charge your cars while you're staying with us and are pleased to offer charging facilities on some of our parks, please contact the park directly for availability and pricing.

i. Touring or camping

Our standard pitches are 6m x 6m – big enough to suit most units. You can only bring one tourer, motorhome, tent or trailer tent onto each pitch and you must pitch onto this pitch (unless directed otherwise). Your unit, guide ropes, awning, pup tent, gazebo or event shelter, if applicable at the park you’re staying at, must fit within your pitch area. If your unit is on the large side, we'll do what we can to help you fit it in – but please let us know when you book so that we can confirm that we can accommodate you. There is a charge for pup tents, and you must tell us when you book so that we can check the pitch is suitable. (Not all parks and pitches can accommodate these). Some parks can't accept gazebos, event shelters, awnings with annexes, for example – and in some, you can't sleep under an awning. Please check what you can bring and what you can do before booking. Please be aware that if you choose to remove the Utility Service Charge from your pitch booking, you will not be allowed to use your own electricity generator while staying with us.

j. Special requests

Please let us know when you book if you'll be celebrating something special while you're with us, and especially if you're planning to have a party or to wear fancy dress. We want to make sure your plans will fit in with the environment of the park, so we need to approve this before taking your booking. If there's anything else you'd like or need for your holiday, we'll always do our best to get it for you. Please tell us when you book and put your request in writing on this Contact Form , remembering to give us your phone number.

a. What you'll pay

Like most things to do with travel, the prices of our holidays change depending on availability. If guests book their holiday very close to arrival then fluctuations in price will occur on a much more frequent basis, so it is advisable to book early. You'll find up-to-date prices on our website, although we can only confirm the exact price of your holiday when you book. Any quotation obtained prior to booking is subject to change. All pricing is subject to promotional availability at the time of booking your holiday. We guarantee that the price shown on your booking confirmation for the accommodation and party size, plus any supplements, is the amount payable by you but we reserve the right to raise or lower our holiday prices and other charges at any time before booking. Once you've booked and paid your deposit, we won't change your holiday price unless the VAT rate changes, or unless we both agree. VAT will be payable at the prevailing rate on the date on which payment is made. Although we will confirm to you at the time of booking the price for the holiday including VAT at then current rates, if the VAT rate increases after we have confirmed your booking but before the start date of your holiday, we may ask you to pay an additional amount to cover this increase.

b. Current prices

Our latest published prices can be found at haven.com . Guests are reminded that the prices displayed on the website are subject to change and may go up and down in response to changing market pressures. Haven offers are subject to limited promotional availability and, due to the increasing popularity of Haven holidays, offers can run out or may be withdrawn at any time.

c. Our Price Promise

If the price of your break goes down after you have booked, you can get a refund for the difference. You will be eligible for our Price Promise if: (i) you have booked your holiday directly with Haven and (ii) your booking confirmation states that you are eligible for our Price Promise. If you satisfy the aforementioned conditions then please get in touch if, prior to your holiday start date, you see us advertise your holiday on haven.com at a lower price and one of our team will investigate your query and apply the relevant adjustment if the price remains available. The adjustment is subject to the holiday being for the same park, dates, package (Haven holiday or Haven Hideaway packages), duration, accommodation type, number of guests and there still being availability to book. Our Price Promise only covers the original holiday booked by you. Third party promotions are excluded. All claims must be made by the start date of your break.

d. How to pay

Debit or credit card: the easiest way to pay for your holiday is by debit (preferred) or credit card on the Haven website. If you make a payment over the phone, we will add a £3 administration fee to the total price of your booking. We accept Mastercard and Visa. We do not accept American Express, Delta, Diners Club, Maestro, Visa Electron or Solo. At the time of booking we will require: (i) the long card number; (ii) the last 3 digits of your security code; (iii) the expiry date; (iv) the cardholder's name and address; and (v) for web payments, additional verification.

Cheques: if you are paying by cheque, please write your holiday booking reference on the back of the cheque and make it payable to Haven Leisure Limited and send to: Haven Leisure Limited, 1 Park Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 4YL. Cheques cannot be accepted for holidays starting within 30 days of the booking. We cannot accept cash payments, so please do not send cash. There is a £20 administration charge for dealing with cheques refused by your bank. Post-dated cheques are not accepted. Any bank charges incurred for these cheques are solely the guest's responsibility. If you book through a booking agent, cheques should be made payable to them.

Electronic bank transfer: please call us if you want to make payment via electronic bank transfer and we will give you our bank sort code and account number along with the account name. We will also give you a payment reference to use. Please note that an electronic bank transfer can take between three to five working days to clear and, if making a deposit payment, your booking will not be confirmed until we are in receipt of the payment. A £3 administration fee will be added to the total cost of your booking for each payment made via bank transfer.

e. Deposits and when to pay

If you book more than 10 weeks before the start of your holiday, you can either pay the full amount or a deposit. If you book 10 weeks or less before the start of your holiday, you'll have to pay in full at the time of booking. If you book any holiday less than 30 days before the start of your holiday, you (the lead guest) will need to make payment via electronic bank transfer or with a debit or credit card (in your name only) either over the phone or at Haven.com .

if you call us to pay there will be a £3 administration fee. Your booking will only be confirmed once your deposit has been paid, and deposit payments are non-refundable and non-transferable to anybody else. Your booking confirmation will show your balance due date(s). It is your responsibility to pay the balance when it's due and, if you don't, we'll cancel your holiday and you won't get your money back. We will remove any extras or add-ons applied to your booking if you have not paid for them in full within 10 weeks of the date of your arrival.

f. What if we accidentally undercharge you or overcharge you

If we find out we've undercharged you because of a mistake on our part, we'll get in touch to put things right. We'll give you the choice of cancelling your holiday for a full refund or paying the full price. And if we've overcharged you by mistake, we'll give you back the difference in price.

a. How you can change your booking

We know that people's needs change – and we want to give you the best holiday we can. So, if you decide to change your booking, we'll try our best to meet your needs. Unfortunately, what you want may cost more or may not be available. There's also a minimum £20 admin fee for any changes.

If you need to change packages after booking, please call us. This is subject to availability, and the administration charge in the paragraph above. When we make the change, the booking will be repriced and will reflect the current prices and offers. Prices can go up and down in response to market pressures.

It may be possible for you to add more guests to a booking or change a name on the booking, but this will be subject to certain identification checks and will be subject to a £20 administration charge. It should be noted that we cannot change dates from one calendar year to the next. Please bear in mind that any changes made within 56 days of the start date of your holiday may count as a cancellation. We will, where possible, try to accommodate changes to your accommodation, package or holiday dates but this may incur additional costs.

If the changes you need aren't possible and you don't want to keep to your original booking, or you're unhappy with the additional charges and don't want to keep to your original booking, this will be classed as a cancellation

Please note that all requests to change your booking must be made by telephone by you (the lead guest) or your booking agent only. The request(s) should be made as soon as possible. We will correspond in all matters relating to your booking or party with you or your booking agent only. You act as representative for all members of your party.

b. Cancelling your booking if you have Haven Holiday Protection

We always hope that you don't need to cancel your holiday booking but, if you do, please follow the below steps.

1. Call us as soon as you can or, if you booked through a booking agent, please call your agent.

2. We will then cancel your holiday. If you require a refund, then we may ask you to send written proof of why you need to cancel such as a doctor's certification or court notification. If so, please send a scan or photocopy of the evidence to Contact Form within 48 hours of our request and prior to your holiday start date.

3. If we've requested written proof of why you need to cancel, then please wait to hear from us regarding any refund due - and the amount (which may be reduced by bank charges).

4. Wait for us to pay your refund (which may take up to 35 days). Cancellation charges are calculated from the date we receive your instructions.

If you have Haven Holiday Protection and you are cancelling for sickness, redundancy, jury service or bereavement:

If you have Haven Holiday Protection and you are cancelling for any other reason:

c. Cancelling your booking if you don't have Haven Holiday Protection

We always hope that you don't need to cancel your holiday booking but, if you do, please call us as soon as you can or, if you booked through a booking agent, please call your agent. Unfortunately, we will not issue a refund and you will need to claim back through your holiday insurance provider.

d. if we have to change or cancel your holiday

We do everything we can to provide the great holidays we advertise on our website. But very occasionally we find we can no longer offer the holiday people have booked, or, in exceptional circumstances, find we need to cancel you booking. If this happens to you, we'll advise you or your booking agent as soon as possible and offer one of the below options.

1. A replacement holiday that's the same as the one you booked.

2. A replacement holiday that's less expensive than the one you booked at the original booking date (together with the price difference).

3. A full refund.

If we issue you with a refund, we'll return your money in the same way you made your original payment - back to the same payment card, for example. If you've used coupons or vouchers to pay for your holiday, we may be able to transfer them to another holiday with us but, unfortunately, we can't refund coupons or vouchers.

a. Checking in and checking out

We'll always do our best to give you the exact accommodation that you booked. But if you book a 2-bedroom caravan holiday home and we don't have one available during your stay, we may put you in a three-bedroom caravan holiday home of the same grade instead.

Please be aware that, although we don’t run as many activities on check-in days, most of our facilities are open.

You will receive your arrival information via email/SMS prior to your arrival on park. Please keep a look out for arrival information updates. Your arrival slot will be sent by email 7 days prior to your arrival day.

Please bring your booking confirmation reference number (which can be quoted rather than showing the full document). Your payment card must be presented, along with a form of photo identification, before accommodation keys can be issued at check-in. Fully paid accommodation will be held until 12pm on the day following your holiday start date.

Check-out time is 10am and we reserve the right to remove any items remaining in your accommodation after this time. Please remember to give us back the keys and always leave your accommodation in a clean and tidy condition. You are welcome to use the park facilities on your departure day. When you book any experiences such as activities and tables in restaurants etc. The last session you should book is 4pm.

b. The fun stuff

Check your booking confirmation to confirm you have purchased Play Passes, giving you access to our swimming pools, activities and most other leisure and entertainment facilities at the park during your stay. Without a Play Pass you will only be able to gain access to the supermarket, arcades, restaurants and takeaways when you have booked a table or placed an order.

Some activities cost extra or need a deposit, and some may not be suitable for everyone – you can find out more about these and up-to-date pricing at Haven.com/experience . We can only confirm the exact price of your activity when you book. We reserve the right to raise or lower our activities prices and deposits at any time before booking. Once you've booked and paid your deposit, we won't change your activity price. Please note that our entertainment and activities programme may be reduced outside of school and bank holidays.

The information on our website about acts, shows you what we've got planned for your holiday. If we advertise a certain act, we'll always do our best to make sure you see them. But if they can't make it, we'll replace them with similar acts. We'll do our best not to, but you should bear in mind that we might make alterations to or withdraw certain amenities, facilities, activities and/or entertainment shows, if required for reasons outside of our control.

c. Haven Cleanliness Guarantee

If, on arrival at your holiday home, you find it is not cleaned to the high standards we expect, then we will try to put things right. If we are not able to, you will receive a full, no-quibble refund for the cost of your holiday. You must report this to a member of our Holiday Reception team at Reception or via the My Haven app as part of the check-in process within 4 hours of arrival. After rating your cleanliness on the app, we’ll ask if you would like to be contacted by a member of the team. Failure to contact Holiday Reception or if using the My Haven app not asking to be contacted within 4 hours, invalidates our Haven Caravan Cleanliness Guarantee (HCCG). We won’t accept claims after this time. A member/s of our cleaning/management team will inspect the accommodation with you to review the issue. To meet the standards that we set, we will clean your holiday home again within 2 hours of the accommodation being inspected, so that you can carry on enjoying your getaway. If this is still not the high level we expect then whether you continue your holiday or return home you will receive a full, no-quibble refund for the cost of your holiday. This will be agreed at the time.

What is covered by HCCG: a failure to adequately clean the oven, fridge or microwave; carpets not vacuumed; toilet, bathroom or shower not adequately cleaned; dirty guest linen; or unemptied bins and any other similar missed cleaning standards.

What is not covered by HCCG: interior wear and tear; interior maintenance issues; missing items of inventory; external appearance of the caravan; general signs of age of accommodation; and location of the accommodation on the park.

HCCG covers all accommodation booked directly with Haven. Accommodation booked privately is not covered by HCCG as the booking agreement is between the guest and the private letting owner, not with Haven. Refunds will be processed and paid to you within 14 days of your holiday start date. Please note that the £49 compensation referenced in our Service Charter will not be paid in addition to the refund under the Haven Caravan Cleanliness Guarantee.

d. Activities

You can pre-book and pay for activities via haven.com/experience by using a debit card or credit card. All activities are subject to availability. Activities are not transferable to other parks and are valid within the current season only. Activity bookings will not appear on your booking confirmation or on your ‘My Account’

You can cancel your activity via haven.com/experience up to 48 hours prior to the activity start time, after which any cancellations or amendments must be done by the on-park Activity and Leisure team. The activity cost will be refunded the same way and using the same payment method. Please allow 35 days for it appear back in your account. We cannot refund or transfer any missed sessions unless you were not able to take part in the activity due to having to leave your holiday early because of illness or an emergency. In this case, please call the park to see if a refund is due. These refunds may take a little longer to process.

Guests must arrive prior to the start of the session as health and safety briefings are given. If you are late and have missed the safety briefing, for your own safety you may not be able to take part in the session. The Duty Activity and Leisure Manager has the overall responsibility for health and safety of the activity and can stop the session or ask a participant to leave at any time. In this case, no refund will be given.

Activities have age/height/weight or ability restrictions so please familiarise yourself with these before booking as the participants must meet any requirements to take part, and if they don’t, they may be refused access to an activity and no refund will be given. Proof of age may be required for health and safety reasons. If you are concerned about the presence of allergens in the food in our creative sessions, please ask a member of our team for assistance. It is at the Duty Activity and Leisure Manager’s sole discretion to refuse service to any individual.

For full experience terms and conditions please visit our experience terms and conditions

e. Haven wi-fi

Only devices with a web browser and the ability to connect to a public service can access the network – please check your device for compatibility. All connections to the complimentary wi-fi will be subject to a 'fair usage' policy. Device exclusions apply.

f. Keeping you safe and healthy

We do everything we can to keep you and your party safe (and, of course, we have to do what the law, Health and Safety Executive and local authorities say). That could mean offering different activities or even, in the worst-case scenario, closing our facilities at short notice – if we needed to mend a roof urgently, say, or it was too windy for the outdoor pool. We'll always try to tell you as soon as we know. And if there's an issue at a certain park that we know about before you book, we'll warn you. It's important that you always follow our advice for staying safe while you're with us. We don't put lots of silly rules in place just for the sake of it, but we do have a few important ones designed to keep you safe. And here's one of them: if you're under 8 (or you can't swim) and want to use our swimming pools, you must always be in the water with a responsible adult. One adult can be responsible for up to two children under 8 and must make sure that non-swimmers or beginners don't go out of their depth. We also ask that everyone in and around the water does exactly what our team ask, because your safety is our number one priority. Only competent swimmers may use certain flume rides. Loose items, including goggles, cannot be worn on the flumes. Our venues are subject to maximum capacities set by the local fire officer and, as such, entrance to venues is not guaranteed. Because our venues are so popular, seating cannot be guaranteed or reserved. Please be aware that some entertainment shows use strobe lighting.

We want you to have fun at the park, but we need to ensure that we keep you safe. For that reason, we do not permit owners or guests to fly drones at the park. Similarly, in line with legislation and in accordance with health and safety advice, we only permit the use of electric scooters, Segways, hoverboards or balance boards if they are part of an organised, on-park activity. Please check with the park direct if you can bring Jet Skis, boats and any other watercrafts.

g. Personal belongings

We take all reasonable steps to safeguard our premises and hope you will have no cause for concern during your holiday, but guests remain responsible for looking after their own belongings. Please remember to secure any vehicles or bicycles and try not to leave any valuable items on display. If you are bringing anything valuable on holiday you should check it is adequately covered by your insurance. We cannot accept any liability for loss or damage to your belongings unless it is due to our negligence.

h. Filming and Photography

Please bear in mind that you're not allowed to film or take photographs in our swimming pools and changing areas. Due to the popularity of Haven, we get requests from TV and other companies to film/photograph on the parks, many of which we accommodate. We also take our own Haven promotional films and photographs on the parks throughout the year. They could be shooting anywhere in the park but where we cannot close the area to guests we'll always try to make sure the filming doesn't affect your holiday and that you always know what's going on. In most cases we'll attempt to ensure images or footage obtained does not identify anybody directly but please avoid the shooting area if you would rather not be caught on camera. If you are identifiable in the content captured we will ask for your consent. Should you wish to withdraw your consent at any time you can request this and we will remove it from our library. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information on your rights.

i. Smoking, drugs and offensive weapons

There's no smoking of vaporisers, e-cigarettes and tobacco in any of our public buildings or accommodation, and we do our best to make sure guests do not smoke in these areas. We do have outdoor smoking areas, and these are clearly signposted. We have a zero-tolerance policy on illegal drugs, firearms and offensive weapons. If you take illegal drugs or any other illegal substance or are in possession of a firearm or offensive weapon (including pellet guns, ball-bearing guns, orbees guns, other propellent guns or any other replica firearms), we will ask you to leave the park, without refund.

j. Illness and contagious diseases

Let us know if you come down with something that you think will affect any of our other guests. If we become aware, or have reasonable grounds to suspect, that you have contracted a contagious disease or illness that has the potential to infect many people quickly; you and your party may be asked to go home. If this is not possible, then restrictions will be placed upon your activities and movements to prevent the disease or illness being transmitted to other guests.

k. Cutting your holiday short

We hope you'll have such a great time with us that you don't want to leave. But if you do end up going home early, we won't offer you a refund.

l. Damage to accommodation

We hope you don't have any mishaps while you're with us. But if your accommodation is damaged by you or someone in your party during your stay, we have the right to recover the cost of this from you, including any extra cleaning costs. We may also go into your caravan holiday home at a reasonable time (and on reasonable notice) during your holiday to check the state of things. Any damage to your accommodation could result in your booking being cancelled, with no refund. If there's an emergency, we can come into your accommodation without warning.

m. If you leave something behind

Let us know as soon as you realise you've left something behind. We'll do all we can to find it, although we're not liable if this isn't possible or if it's damaged. If we find it, we'll return it to you, but you will have to cover the postage costs.

n. Expected behaviours

At Haven, we want you to have fun but not at the expense or enjoyment of others, or without impacting our ability to provide a family friendly environment for everyone. Any violent, aggressive, anti-social or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. You and your party will be asked to leave immediately if any such behaviour is displayed. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any future bookings with Haven if you or your party display any such behaviour.

o. Security

The following systems are operated in our parks, to prevent and detect crime and assist law enforcement (where necessary):

Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).

Body Worn Cameras (BWC) – the security team will always inform you before turning their BWC’s on.

Pool view – some sites may operate drowning prevention technology.

These systems are operated for the protection of our guests, employees and premises from criminal activities. If we discover any criminal activity or alleged criminal activity through our use of CCTV, we will process this data for the purposes of preventing or detecting unlawful acts.

We want you to have a great time with us. So here are some promises we'll make when we accept your booking. And because it's a two-way street, you'll also be making promises to us when you book.

a. Our promises to you

1. We'll do our best to give you and the other people in your party a great holiday.

2. We'll do our best to give you the holiday we've described on our website and in our agreement.

3. We'll do everything we can to prevent things going wrong.

b. Your promises to us

1. You'll disclose all information required by us and tell us who's coming with you to the park.

2. You'll only let the people on your booking confirmation use our caravan holiday homes, facilities and pitches.

3. You'll look after our accommodation and facilities so that other people can enjoy them after you. And if you cause any damage, you'll tell our Reception Team straight away, so we can sort it out.

4. You won't spoil things for other guests by being violent, aggressive loud or antisocial.

5. You - and everyone who comes with you - promise not to break any of our terms and conditions. If you do, we'll ask all of you to leave the park immediately. No ands, ifs or buts. And no refunds.

Even though we'll do all we can to give you a fantastic holiday, things do sometimes go wrong. Here's what to do if you need to complain:

1. If there's something wrong with your accommodation or holiday, tell the Reception Team at the park straightaway so we can try to put things right. Claims may be reduced or rejected if we have not been given the opportunity to put matters right or investigate your concerns.

2. If you holiday is over and you're still unhappy, you must, within 14 working days of your departure date, either c lick here and fill in the form as instructed or, if you prefer to write to us, send a letter to: Guest Relations, Haven, 1 Park Lane, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 4YL. The form and the letter must be completed / written by you (the lead guest) as you're the person we made this agreement with. Please make sure you write your booking reference number on your letter and include your daytime and evening phone numbers.

3. We'll review and investigate your complaint, and we'll try to respond back to you within 21 working days of receiving your completed form and letter.

We're always working hard to make sure everything is as you'd expect when you're on holiday with us. In the unfortunate event that you have an issue, we promise to resolve it as quickly as we can. If you have an emergency issue such as loss of electricity, gas or water, or a major water leak we'll work with our service providers to make sure your services are restored as soon as possible. We promise to fix it within 1 hour - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If we're not able to fix an emergency issue within the time promised, we'll give you a £49 compensation payment. Unfortunately, problems of this nature caused by external suppliers or regional outages are out of our control and won't be subject to this compensation payment.

If you arrive at your accommodation and find any of the following essential issues:

problems with your boiler, cooker, fire, toilet, TV or shower; and/or

you need replacement bed linen, pillows or duvets;

we promise to fix it within 3 hours during our office opening hours (9am-5pm, 7 days a week). If we're not able to fix an essential issue within the time promised, we will give you a £49 compensation payment. If we have failed to clean your holiday home to the standards we expect and the requirements of our Haven Caravan Cleanliness Guarantee are met as stated in section 6c of these terms and conditions and we have agreed a full refund, then the £49 compensation cannot be claimed as well.

a. The Holiday agreement

When you make a booking request, you're offering to buy one of our holidays, and you're agreeing to follow our terms and conditions. We do have the right to turn down your booking request - if, for example, we don't have the space, or we think you'd spoil things for our other guests. The agreement between you and us starts when:

1. we accept your booking and deposit – and give you a booking confirmation; or

2. we confirm your booking online or by phone; or

3. your booking agent confirms your booking.

Our agreement is with you, as the lead guest. Don't forget that you're making an agreement with us on behalf of everyone coming to the park with you. It's up to you to make sure that they all know about these terms and conditions and accept them. The agreement lasts until you and your party leave the park.

b. Validity of terms

If a court or a similar organisation questioned any of these terms, the rest of the agreement would still be valid. It would also still be valid if we allowed you to do something that we wouldn't normally allow under the agreement.

c. Identification requirements

We require evidence of identity and address details for all guests aged 18 and over. Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you provide full and accurate names and addresses of all guests aged 18 and over so that we may verify your identities. One of a bank or credit card statement, utility bill or mortgage statement, mobile phone bill no more than 3 months old must be provided for proof of address; and an item of photographic identification (valid driving license or passport only) needs to be provided for proof of identity. If we do not receive evidence of identity and address within 14 days of contact, we reserve the right to cancel the booking, without refund. Please note that due to timescales of administration tasks, bookings made within 30 days of the holiday start day may be declined if you are unable to provide evidence of your identity at the time of booking. You and members of your party who are 18 or over may be required to provide photographic identification (valid driving licence or passport) at any time during your stay. Failure to provide identification may result in termination of your holiday and you being refused entry to the park or being asked to leave, without refund.

d. When things are our fault

We'll do our best to give you a great holiday, and we accept responsibility for things that go wrong that we should have foreseen or prevented when you booked. We'll deal reasonably and proportionately with any claims for loss or damage that are our fault, and we'll never try to avoid responsibility for things that the law says we can't.

e. Things beyond our control

Unfortunately, we can't take responsibility or pay compensation if we cancel or change your booking in any way because of events beyond our control. Neither can we accept any liability for any injury, loss or damage you suffer because of events beyond our control. Some of the things we mean by 'events beyond our control' are fire, flood, explosion, storm or other weather damage, break-in, criminal damage, riots or civil strife, industrial action, natural or nuclear disaster, epidemics or pandemics, adverse weather conditions, war of threat of war, actual or threatened terrorist activity, and unavoidable technical problems with transport.

In the event of adverse weather, your booking will only be refunded if your chosen park is closed in the interests of health and safety. If you cannot travel on the day to your chosen park due to adverse weather, we will do our best to move your booking to an alternative date and/or different park, but refunds will not be provided. We recommend taking out appropriate insurance.

f. English law

Our terms are subject to English law - which means that if it ever came to it (and we hope it never would), we both agree that English law would apply to this agreement. And if things went really wrong, we both agree to allow the English courts to make the decisions.

g. Using your personal information

When you book with us, you'll be giving us some personal information about you and the other people coming with you. We may use and process such personal information in accordance with our privacy policy which can be found at privacy policy . You may choose to provide us with information about your health or the health of members in your party, so we can assist you with any disability needs. This information will only be used for the purpose(s) for which you provide it to us.

We'll only talk to you (or your booking agent) about your information. By booking with us, you're agreeing that we can use the information in accordance with our privacy policy and you're confirming that everyone who's coming on the break with you understands how we will process their personal data. If you're using a booking agent or other provider, make sure you look at their privacy policy to find out how they'll use your information.

h. The accuracy of our website

We do our best to make sure that the information on our website is accurate when we publish it, but the parks don't look exactly the same – and the photos, layout plans, artists' impressions and so on are there to give an impression of what it's like at Haven. So please don't take them as gospel. Some facilities may vary between the parks – please read park-specific information carefully. Accommodation décor, size and layout may also vary between parks. Not all accommodation is identical to the pictures shown on the website.

i. Access to our parks

We reserve the right of entry to our parks, and the right to refuse entry to our parks without notice.

j. Copyright

You can't copy anything from our website (even photos) without our written permission. Nothing in our agreement gives you or the people who come with you any rights over our trademarks or other intellectual property. And you promise that you won't acquire any rights to any of our trademarks or intellectual property.
