Exciting Cruises to the South Pacific
On a South Pacific cruise with Celebrity, you'll venture to remote ports with thousands of years of history and culture layered into a natural landscape of breathtaking beauty. Travel to pristine beaches with turquoise lagoons, warm white sand, and natural splendor found in very few other places on Earth.
Explore Papeete and its iconic landscape made famous by artists such as Paul Gauguin. In Lautoka, Fiji, take a catamaran to an exquisite South Sea island for a day of snorkeling and exploring pristine beaches. During your stop in Raiatea, explore one of the most sacred sites in Polynesia, Taputapuatea Marae, an ancient temple and one-time site of religious ceremonies. Uncover a world of rich history and natural wonder on a captivating cruise to the South Pacific.
South Pacific Cruise Highlights
It's no secret that the islands of the South Pacific are home to some of the world’s best beaches. On the island of Papeete in Tahiti, you'll find Matavai Bay, where white sand and aquamarine waters make for the perfect place to relax. In Fiji, head to Lautoka's Vunabaka Bay for an unforgettable experience snorkeling over brilliant coral reefs. Raiatea boasts the immaculate, unspoiled beaches of nearby Taha'a, a secluded island just a short boat ride from the port.
Polynesian Culture
One of the most valuable experiences you can have while traveling the South Pacific is to learn about Polynesia’s rich cultures. The isolated position of the islands has given rise to traditions of music, storytelling, dance, and art. In Fiji, visit a typical village, where you’ll be welcomed with a traditional ceremony and kava juice. For a taste of local culture in Noumea, head to the vibrant municipal market, filled with exotic fruit, fragrant flowers, artisanal crafts, and snack bars.
Wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty of animal encounters during a South Pacific cruise, both ashore and in the water. Snorkel from the beaches of Tahiti and you could be swimming among rays, dolphins, black-tipped reef sharks, and sea turtles. While in Fiji, take a nature tour through Colo-i-Suva Forest Park. Stroll past rushing streams and tranquil pools, one with a rope swing, and be on the lookout for dazzling birds like robins, fantails, and the colorful musk parrot.
Featured South Pacific Cruise Ports
Pape'ete, tahiti.
There’s plenty to see in and around Papeete—if you can tear yourself away from Tahiti’s glorious beaches and coral reefs, that is. Visit the house where James Norman Hall lived and shop for juicy tropical fruits at the Papeete Market. Take a 4x4 safari into the lush backcountry, a world of jagged peaks, waterfalls, and dense rainforest. See the bay where Captain James Cook made landfall. Learn more about island crafts, including pareo tying and palm weaving.
Lautoka, Fiji
Lautoka is a laid-back city at the heart of Fiji’s sugar cane industry and is home to the largest sugar mill in the South Pacific. In town, chat with locals at the vibrant Lautoka Market and stroll the pretty botanical garden. Admire the Krishna Kaliya Hindu Temple, brilliant with sculptures and murals. And don’t miss those dazzling beaches; a catamaran will whisk you to a remote atoll of swaying palms, white sands, and sparkling seas for the ultimate South Pacific beach day.
Noumea, New Caledonia
Capital of the French territory of New Caledonia, Nouméa has both French and Polynesian influences. Visit St. Joseph’s Cathedral and the City of Nouméa Museum to learn about the history of the island. Head for the bustling market to sample bougna, chicken or fish slow-cooked in banana leaves with yam, sweet potato, and banana. Relax on exquisite coral sand beaches and snorkel over vibrant reefs in the sapphire Pacific.
South Pacific Cruise Itineraries
Journey through the lush South Pacific on adventurous itineraries ranging from 12 to 18 nights. You’ll depart from Sydney, Auckland, or Honolulu and visit multiple islands during your cruise.

Princess Cruises takes guests down the ruggedly beautiful Pacific Coast en route to California before sailing to Hawaii. The voyage includes exotic stops such as Tahiti and American Samoa before disembarking in New Zealand.
Passengers will sail on the five-star Royal Princess, which offers a range of exciting amenities, including Princess Cruises’ largest top-deck pool that features an evening water and light show, mini-golf, movies under the stars, renowned spa treatments, a disco, nine bars, tennis and much more.
The cruise overnights in Vancouver at Canada Place on Sept. 21 before spending a day in Victoria on Sept. 22. Passengers will then have a couple of days to enjoy the ship before stopping in San Francisco on Sept. 25. The Golden City is home to several popular attractions that can be seen in a day, including excursions to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
After one more day at sea, guests will spend a day in San Deigo before stopping in sunny Los Angeles on Sept. 28.
The voyage includes five days at sea to reach the tropical Hawaiian Islands, where it stops in Honolulu on Oahu and the Big Island.
Passengers will enjoy another five days on the ship before spending two days in Tahiti and one in Moorea on the Society Islands on Oct. 12. After three more sea days, the ship spends a day in Pago Pago, American Samoa.
The cruise includes three more days at sea, crossing the international dateline before sailing into Tauranga, New Zealand on Oct. 21. It disembarks on Oct. 22 in Auckland.
Cruise from Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand with Princess Cruises
There are four stateroom categories to choose from, including the interior, balcony, mini-suite, and suite. No ocean views are available on this sailing (see slide two).
The interior stateroom is the best option for folks travelling on a budget. While they won't enjoy any fresh air in their rooms, there are plenty of places around the ship to enjoy the view or stand outside. The lowest price for two people is $6,727.86 or $3,363.93 per person. This total breaks down to a per-diem, per-person amount of $112.13 (see slide three).
- Related: Here's how you can sail on dozens of Vancouver cruises for $49 a day
Travellers in parties of three or more can also take advantage of some discounted offers.
The cost for the 30-day cruise includes transportation on a beautiful five-star vessel, meals, entertainment, snacks and lodging. The only thing it doesn’t factor in is alcohol, Wi-Fi or tips, but you may purchase packages to reduce the price.
Flights home from New Zealand shouldn't depart the same day the cruise disembarks in Auckland. Plus, "Middle Earth" is home to several shooting locations from the Lord of the Rings trilogy and other intriguing attractions and places you might want to explore.
One-way flights from Auckland start at around $880 and include a stop before Vancouver. However, you can also create a multi-stop itinerary that includes several days in Honolulu, Oahu.

State investigating amid reports cruise ship sailed too close to Kauai’s Na Pali Coast
KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state Land Department is investigating after Kauai advocates say a cruise ship got too close to shore at the Na Pali Coast.
Kauai community advocates said the ship appeared to be in very shallow water and about 1,000 feet offshore.
According to Celebrity Cruise’s website, the Celebrity Edge is advertising Hawaii cruises from Vancouver.
But a passenger told HNN they came from Sydney, Australia.
“It’s just plain wrong to be in that close to the shore. Period,” said resident Presley Wann.
“I find it very offensive, very upsetting because of the lack of protocol.”
One Na Pali tour manager and captain says it’s the first time he’s seen an incident like this.
“I’ve never seen this in 20 years of Na Pali Coast tours in my life. It’s mind blown,” said Sam Martin.
The DLNR said it’s “aware of the situation and is investigating. We are also consulting our partners with the U.S. Coast Guard and state Department of Transportation on this matter. We have nothing more to add at this time.”
Added state DOCARE Enforcement Chief Jason Redulla: “We’ve received numerous reports. Our officers on the island of Kauai and in Honolulu are working this case.”
Wann worries about cultural and environmental impacts.
“Some of the shots that were taken from the air actually showed the sand being disturbed at the bottom so all of these environmental impacts that it created was very upsetting to me,” said Wann.
The ship was docked at Honolulu Harbor on Wednesday and Wann met with the state Boating Division.
“I understand that that DLNR has taken at least one of their agencies and may have been on board taking statements from the cruise ship,” said Wann.
Hawaii administrative rules mention a 3,000 foot seaward from shore rule and commercial vessels with more than 50 passengers are not permitted to operate with Na Pali Coast Ocean waters.

PR Newswire

Newly Released Cruises Now on Sale
SANTA CLARITA, Calif., May 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- The exotic nature of South America attracts travelers to experience the diverse cultures, food, biomes, and the grandeur of the last "untouched" region of Antarctica. In fact, according to the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO), a record 105,331 people visited Antarctica last season. With its newly announced 2025-2026 season, Princess Cruises gives more guests the opportunity to see this less traveled part of the world with affordable rates, a wide range of shore excursions, and the comfort of a ship that can safely navigate this journey while offering countless amenities and activities to enjoy.
"Our upcoming 2025-26 cruise season to South America and Antarctica promises remarkable journeys with incredible opportunities to glide through glacial waters of Antarctica to enjoy views of Elephant Island, Antarctic Sound and Gerlache Strait – all unforgettable sites to behold," said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer, Princess Cruises. "Plus our thoughtfully planned itineraries offer guests more time in robust South American cities to fully immerse themselves in the culture to get a taste of how the locals live."
Why book a 2025-26 South America & Antarctic adventure with Princess Cruises? Top reasons include:
- 20 destinations in 11 countries with seven total departures, featuring five unique itineraries sailing from November 2025 to January 2026.
- Sapphire Princess is on the current IAATO (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators) approved operator list to cruise this region, sharing in the association's mission to advocate and promotes the practice of safe and environmentally responsible private-sector travel to the Antarctic. Sapphire Princess takes more passengers to Antarctica than any other ship on the IAATO list.
- Antarctica 17-day Adventure cruises feature four days of exploration in the Antarctic region and a special festive voyage that celebrates both Christmas and New Year's Day at sea, complete with an overnight stay in Buenos Aires.
- A Cape Horn & Strait of Magellan 16-day journey, offering an overnight in Buenos Aires and breathtaking scenic cruising past the Amalia Glacier.
- The 53-day Ultimate Antarctica & South America Adventure, connecting Los Angeles and Buenos Aires, with overnight stays in Lima (Callao) and Buenos Aires.
- Numerous opportunities to explore 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites like the Historic Centre of Lima; Lines and Geoglyphs of Nasca and Pampas de Jumana from San Martin; Church of Atlántida, the work of engineer Eladio Dieste from Montevideo; Peninsula Valdés Patagonian Nature Reserve from Puerto Madryn; the Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaiso from San Antonio.
- Notable scenic cruising of Cape Horn and the Antarctic Peninsula.
Princess brings the local culture on board for destination immersion like no other cruise line, from cultural enrichments like lively Argentine folkloric musicians, savory regional cuisine and dynamic samba classes; to destination experts including South American historians; and specially-themed entertainment including unique sail-in or sail-away celebrations.
For guests wishing to combine a land tour to inspiring inland landmarks before or after their cruise, Princess offers two cruisetour options:
- Iguazú Falls Adventure – features the thundering Iguazú Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as a visit to Rio de Janeiro.
- Machu Picchu Explorer – visits the ancient Inca compound, Machu Picchu, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, plus a tour of the historic city of Cusco.
Plus, enhancing the value of a South America & Antarctica vacation with Princess Plus and Premier inclusive packages allow guests to save over 65% on essentials such as gratuities, Wi-Fi, beverages, and more, providing added convenience and enjoyment for their journey.
For a limited time, guests booking South America and Antarctica vacations for 2025 or 2026 can receive up to $2,300 toward onboard credit and shore excursions, and Captain's Circle members receive up to $100 in savings per guest. Princess Cruises Sails to Prime Viewing Spot for 2026 Total Solar Eclipse in Europe
Sky princess departs southampton on august 8, 2026; bookings open may 23, 2024.
By downloading this image you agree to the Princess asset use terms and conditions
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., (May 3, 2024) – Astrotourism is top of mind for travelers making special trips for phenomenal experiences in the sky—and with the recent “take-your-breath-away” total solar eclipse, thousands of cruisers onboard Emerald Princess and Discovery Princess off the coast of Mexico caught a glimpse of the astounding total darkness event.
The next, not-to-be-missed total solar eclipse takes place on August 12, 2026, and once again a Princess cruise ship will be perfectly positioned, this time in northern Spain, to witness this bucket list event - two minutes and 18 seconds of totality. The 3,660-guest Sky Princess departs Southampton August 8, 2026, on a 14-day Mediterranean cruise, highlighted with total eclipse viewing while the ship is in its path at sea off the coast of Spain.
“The best way to see a total solar eclipse is via cruise ship, and our guests who recently experienced this rare occurrence on Discovery Princess and Emerald Princess were simply blown away,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises president. “We make it easy for guests to come aboard, relax and meet other eclipse enthusiasts. It’s truly a special opportunity.”
The Total Eclipse Sky Princess Voyage goes on sale May 23, 2024, with rates starting at $2,199* per person. During the eclipse, Sky Princess guests will gather on the top decks with Princess safety glasses for viewing, as well as enjoy lectures from astronomy experts, themed treats and drinks, stargazing at night, solar system trivia and more.
This incredible, 14-day Mediterranean cruise sailing takes place August 8-22, 2026, roundtrip from Southampton (London), and visits seven historical and vibrant ports, including:
- Cherbourg, France - one of France’s greatest ports with art and history museums, its basilica, the Ravalet castle and the Cité de la Mer maritime museum.
- Bilbao, Spain – located in northern Spain, Bilbao is surrounded by green mountains and is the de facto capital of Basque Country, with a skyscraper-filled downtown. It’s famed for the Frank Gehry–designed Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
- Malaga, Spain - famous as Picasso's birthplace and the gateway to Spain's Costa del Sol, Malaga mixes warm vacation vibes with Andalusia's indomitable spirit.
- Cartagena, Spain - founded by the Carthaginians around 220 B.C., the city boomed during the Roman period. Among its many Roman ruins are a 1st-century B.C. theater and Casa de la Fortuna, a villa with murals and mosaics.
- Gibraltar – this British Overseas Territory and headland is located on Spain's south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 1,398-foot limestone ridge.
- Lisbon, Portugal – the capital and largest city of Portugal, Lisbon is mainland Europe's westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast.
- La Coruña, Spain – in the Galicia region of northwest Spain, it’s known for its Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, which has sweeping coastal views.
“Our recent solar eclipse cruises were completely sold out so interested guests should book this Sky Princess cruise as soon as it opens on May 23. It truly will be an experience to remember,” Padgett added.
