Whether you’re looking to enjoy breakfast on the balcony or a late-night snack, you can get Carnival room service delivered to your cabin 24/7.

On October 1, 2022, Carnival Cruise Line debuted a new room service menu. The simplified menu still includes a complimentary continental breakfast, but daytime room service is now priced à la carte.

Read on to learn about the new Carnival Cruise Line room service menu.

Table of Contents

Carnival Room Service Menu and Prices

Carnival’s room service menu consists of a Continental Breakfast Menu from 6:00 am to 10:00 am and the Rest of Day/Evening Menu (Leisure Dining Menu) from 10:00 am to 6:00 am.

The new room service menu eliminates the late-night menu, which was a favorite for many cruisers. The new daytime menu is also priced à la carte, without complimentary items.

According to Carnival Cruise Line’s Chief Operations Officer Neil Palomba, “we are updating our room service menu to add more options on an à la carte basis, while maintaining a complimentary breakfast offering each morning. These changes are consistent with trends across the industry, and also provide us opportunities to continue to work towards various sustainability goals, including food, water and energy reduction, while still giving our guests the option of 24/7 room service if they so choose.”

The new menus are very similar to the old room service menu guests are accustomed to seeing. Perhaps the biggest change is that all daytime room service menus are now priced à la carte menus.

Additionally, there’s no more late-night menu. Instead, the daytime room service menu runs from 10:00 am to 6:00 am. But if you’re looking for a late-night snack, the sweet treats from the daytime menu are a great choice.

If you order à la carte menus, the cruise line automatically adds an 18% service charge.

Guests can order beverages from the bar at standard rates. However, you can’t use your Carnival cruise drink package for beverages ordered through room service.

Continental Breakfast Menu and Prices

Carnival Cruise Line New Breakfast Room Service Menu

The continental breakfast is complimentary for all guests , along with à la carte selections at an additional price. Breakfast room service is delivered between 6:00 am to 10:00 am.

The menu is available every morning of the cruise except for the last morning of the cruise. On the last morning, guests can enjoy breakfast at the Lido restaurant or main dining room.

You can order the complimentary continental breakfast by filling out the breakfast menu and hanging it outside your cabin door before 3 am.

Your cabin will have a stack of breakfast menus. But if you run out, you can always ask your room steward to provide more.

The new breakfast menu is nearly identical to the old continental room service menu. Some breakfast items are substituted, and the prices for the à la carte items are an additional $1 to $2.

One of the best parts of a Carnival cruise is trying all the fantastic food options. But you don’t have to leave your stateroom to have a meal or snack! Room service on Carnival is available around the clock.

I’ll answer all your questions about Carnival Cruise Line room service. Plus, I’ve included current menus, along with prices for any items that aren’t complimentary. Bon appétit!

Although you might remember that in 2019 Carnival announced room service would no longer be free on their ships, outrage from cruisers caused the company to quickly change its mind.

Carnival currently offers several free room service options during the day, from 6 AM until 10 PM. The room service menu offers a selection of salads, sandwiches, and desserts that are always complimentary with your cruise fare during this time.

They also offer a free continental breakfast, delivered to your room in the morning if you order before 3 AM.

Basic drinks are also complimentary with your room service order. These include:

Carnival also offers hot meals and snacks, as well as hot breakfast sandwiches in the morning, for a small additional fee.

How do you order room service on a Carnival cruise?

Ordering room service on a Carnival cruise is easy—just dial 8000 on your stateroom phone. You can access the room service menu before you call by scanning the room service menu QR code posted on the wall.

Tip: You’ll need to connect to the onboard WiFi to scan the QR code, but there’s no charge to use it for scanning codes, using the HUB app , or by visiting carnival.com during your cruise.

Is Carnival’s room service available 24/7?

Room service offerings are always available on Carnival ships, except for disembarkation morning. However, from 10 PM until 6 AM, you can only order from the “A Little $ A Lot of Yummy” portion of the menu. This selection includes hot meals and snacks priced from $2 to $6.

Tip: Looking for a late-night snack but don’t want to pay for room service? All Carnival ships have a 24-hour pizza joint on board—either Pizzeria del Capitano or Pizza Pirate .

Can you order soda or alcohol from room service on a Carnival cruise?

Carnival’s room service menu includes a selection of sodas and beers you can add to your room service order, at regular bar prices ( see an example of a bar menu with prices here ).

Soft drink choices include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Zero Sugar, Pepsi Caffeine Free, Sierra Mist, Sierra Mist Zero, Mug Root Beer, and Mountain Dew.

Tipping for room service on Carnival

Although Carnival does charge passengers automatic gratuities that are divided amongst the service staff, it’s always a nice idea to give a small tip to the crewmember who delivers your room service meals.

Some crewmembers actually volunteer for room service duty (on top of their already long hours) specifically to make some extra money from tips!

You don’t need to tip a lot—generally a dollar (or its equivalent) is just fine per meal that you have delivered.

25 of us (7cabins) are sailing on the 6/18 Mardi Gras. The presidential suite (with the huge deck) is one of our cabins. We wanted to have the rest of the group join us there for sail away. I know there are sandwich platters and other items I can purchase and the specifics say “delivered on request”. Can I have that delivered around 3 pm on embarkation day so we can enjoy snacks during sail away?

Tuesday 13th of June 2023

Hi Maudeen, excellent question! In my experience, room service usually doesn't open on embarkation day until sailaway. That could vary by ship, but that's just what I've noticed. I'd recommend trying to call room service as soon as you're on the ship and/or ask your room steward about the earliest time to order. You probably won't be able to get your snacks at 3PM, but you can probably have them delivered not long after sailaway. I hope you and your group have a fantastic time on the Mardi Gras!!

Tuesday 20th of September 2022

Hello! Thank you for the informative post! When you say to tip the crew member who delivers your food $1 per meal, does that mean $1 per delivery or $1 per actual meal? We will be cruising with 5 kids so if we ordered breakfast in should we tip $7?

@Carrie Ann, that definitely helps. Thank you so much for your prompt response, I really appreciate it!

Hi Katie, I generally tip $1 per full adult-sized meal, so if each kid is having just a bowl of cereal and some juice (for example), you can tip a bit less — maybe $4-5 for the entire family. But if you order 5-6 trays worth of food, I'd tip more in the $7 range. Hope this helps!

Booking number [redacted] I wanted to surprise my fiancé when we get on the ship. So I ordered Skyy vodka and he won't drink it. Do you have Tito’s because that is all he will drink? Therefore, I would like to cancel the vodka. We don’t board until August 27. Please advise because I don't really want to pay $100 and have it go to waste. You can credit my card for $100. That would work too. Thank you so much.

Sunday 21st of August 2022

Hi Carol, I'm an independent cruise travel writer, and Should Be Cruising has no affiliation with Carnival. If you're looking to change or cancel an order you have with Carnival, I'd advise reaching out to them directly. Calling the Fun Shops is probably your best bet - their number is 1-800-522-7648. Enjoy your cruise!

Can you order a bottle of liquor through room service on carnival sunshine.

Friday 12th of August 2022

Hi Madeline, your best bet if you want a bottle delivered to your room is to pre-order it before your cruise. You can find a list of all their drink options here.

If you'd rather wait until you're on the ship and order through room service, you'll be limited to the bottles they have in surplus, which might be limited depending on your sailing. Enjoy your cruise!

Wednesday 29th of June 2022

I'll be alone in my cabin, If I'm not sure what I can eat in one morning can I order a bagel and a croissant and a danish with my cereal or would all that be rude? I have stomach problems and never know how my day will start.

Hi Janet, that wouldn't be rude at all! I love cruising solo with Carnival, and I order all sorts of things for my room service breakfast. If I can't finish everything, I often pop the extras in the fridge (there's always plenty of plastic wrap on your breakfast tray to keep things fresh) for an easy snack later. If dairy irritates your stomach, be sure to write SOYA MILK in bold letters on the hangtag. That's usually the only dairy-free alternative on Carnival, and I've found that most of the kitchen and waitstaff call it "soya". Enjoy your cruise!

Cruise ship room service: A line-by-line guide to in-cabin dining

Kristy Tolley

There are few better places to be when hunger strikes than on a cruise ship. If the buffet is busy with people or packed away, 24-hour room service is always available to fill your belly. It's one of the greatest cruising amenities that's uniformly offered on all major cruise lines. No need to dress up for dinner — just order food, flip on your cabin TV and wait for your meal to arrive.

Wondering what you can order and how much it will cost you? Here's a line-by-line overview of room service options and pricing across the major cruise lines, along with in-cabin dining menus.

For cruise news, reviews and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

How do I order room service on a cruise ship?

Just pick up your in-cabin phone and dial the room service number to order food. Easy!

Some cruise lines offer the option to order your food and drinks through your in-cabin TV or a smartphone app, which populates photos of the menu items. Some cruise line apps even have location-specific features that allow you to order food and drinks for delivery almost anywhere on the ship.

Breakfast is often ordered by filling out a pre-printed menu card left in your cabin and hanging it outside your door before you go to bed. Crew members collect the orders during the night and deliver your food the next morning at the time you specified.

What types of food can I order to my cabin?

Many cruise lines offer a complimentary continental breakfast delivery, which typically includes pastries, bread, fruit, yogurt and coffee and tea. You can order hot breakfast items like eggs, pancakes and bacon, but they cost extra on select lines or in specific cabin categories.

After breakfast service ends in the late morning, all major cruise lines offer an all-day room service menu of salads, sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Most cruise lines have special in-room dining menus separate from what you'd find that day on the buffet or in the main dining room.

However, some of the more upscale lines and some select concierge cabin classes offer comprehensive in-suite dining menus, often with the convenience of ordering off the menu from the main dining room or specialty restaurants on board. This elevated in-room dining experience might include a white tablecloth setup and your meal delivered course by course to your cabin or suite.

You can access additional specialty food experiences from room service operations. These include fresh pizza delivery as seen on Carnival Cruise Line and MSC Cruises, a cutting-edge app feature for Champagne delivery on Virgin Voyages and lobster and caviar deliveries from luxury cruise lines such as Silversea Cruises.

Is room service free on a cruise ship?

carnival cruises room service

While most land-based hotels charge a premium for any food delivered to your room, cruise ships have a long legacy of including room service in their fares. Many cruisers' favorite amenity is the 24-hour complimentary access to generic yet classic menu items such as fresh fruit, a cheese plate or a club sandwich, not to mention continental breakfast.

Recent changes in the economics of cruising have sunset the glory days of unlimited, complimentary room service on several of the most popular cruise lines. Service fees and menus dominated by a la carte options are now the new norms across the industry.

Still, the fees are often considerably less than at comparable land-based resorts, and continental breakfast items are commonly free of charge (with the exception of MSC's lowest cabin class, which charges a per-item and service fee for breakfast service).

How much does room service cost?

Depending on the cruise line and your cabin class, room service can be a complimentary all-inclusive service, billed per item or charged at a flat delivery fee. Most lines will offer complimentary continental breakfast options through room service with no service fee, even if other options cost extra.

Luxury lines, including Seabourn, Silversea and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, always include 24-hour room service as a standard amenity.

Delivery service fees per order can reach up to $9.95, the per-order rate currently on Norwegian Cruise Line's non-suite class cabins. A la carte prices average around $5 per item, whether that's a hot breakfast or a midday sandwich.

For example, on Carnival's new a la carte room service menu, salads cost $4 to $5 (with additional fees for adding proteins), sandwiches $5 to $7, snacks like pizza and chicken tenders $6 to $8 and dessert $3 to $5.

Do you have to tip for room service on a cruise?

On no-tipping lines, such as Seabourn and Silversea, crew members are compensated appropriately, and you do not need to tip for room service. On lines where guests are expected to tip crew members, determine first if a gratuity is automatically included in your room service order or delivery fee. If it's not, a small tip is always appreciated.

Depending on what you order and the line, you might not have the chance to sign a bill for your room service order, which could be a missed opportunity to add a tip. Come prepared with small bills to offer in appreciation of the service, as you'll find the room service staff works hard to expedite many meals around the ship.

The Margherita pizza is $6 with a $3.50 delivery fee for Bella passengers, no delivery fee for Fantastica and Aurea experience guests, and completely free for guests sailing in the Yacht Club.

Norwegian Cruise Line

carnival cruises room service

You can start each day on a Norwegian cruise with continental breakfast room service (fruit, pastries, bread, cereal, coffee and tea) available from 6 to 10 a.m. A $4.95 room service breakfast fee is charged on all ships for all breakfast room service orders, but there's no per-item charge. (In-cabin breakfast is not available on the morning of disembarkation day.) Guests staying in suites and The Haven do not have to pay the room service delivery fee.

All-day menu items incur a higher per-order fee of $9.95 for guests not staying in suites; again, all items on the room service menu are available for no additional fee. They include breakfast options like a spinach and tomato omelet and steak and eggs, along with all-day menu items with highlights that include chili con carne, a veggie burger and shrimp creole.

All non-complimentary beverages ordered through room service (alcohol, specialty juices, bottles of water) incur a 20% gratuity on the cost of the drink. These fees are in addition to the delivery fee.

Oceania Cruises

carnival cruises room service

Room service throughout the entire Oceania Cruises fleet is included in all fares and available 24 hours a day. Concierge-level suites have the option of ordering room service off The Grand Dining Room menu for lunch and dinner, so favorite items like the line's signature rack of lamb and a molten chocolate lava cake can be enjoyed in the privacy and comfort of your own suite.

Princess Cruises

carnival cruises room service

Princess Cruises offers 24-hour room service delivery for various food, drinks and cabin amenities with the line's OceanNow feature on the MedallionClass app. The service lets you order food to your location anywhere on the ship, whether it's your cabin or poolside. However, you will need to pay an access fee of $14.99 per guest, per voyage, plus a $5 delivery fee for all room service orders. Passengers who purchase a Princess Plus or Princess Premier package get these two fees waived.

Princess offers a mix of complimentary and a la carte menu items on its room service menu. The long list of no-fee items includes staples like burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers, fries and a fruit cup; upcharges kick in for items like shrimp cocktail ($8), pizza ($3) and an 8-ounce filet ($19).

The complimentary room service menu includes a continental breakfast (fruits, bread and pastries, yogurt, coffee, tea and select juices). Order the service ahead by filling out the breakfast card in your cabin portfolio and leaving it hanging outside your cabin door before you go to bed.

You can also use the app to order extra towels, ice bucket refills or even aloe to soothe sunburns.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises

carnival cruises room service

Regent Seven Seas ' cruise ship room service is complimentary and offered 24 hours a day to guests in all suites. Highlights from the extensive room service menu include a charcuterie and cheese platter, beef medallions, grilled tiger shrimp and creme brulee.

If you're dining during the operational hours of the Compass Rose, the line's main restaurant, you can also order from that rotating menu, with dinners served course by course in your suite.

Royal Caribbean

carnival cruises room service

Royal Caribbean offers 24-hour room service with complimentary continental breakfast (pastries, bread, cereals, fruit and yogurt, along with coffee and tea) served from 6 to 11 a.m. If you're looking to add a heartier entree to the order, the American breakfast option (an assortment of eggs, buttermilk pancakes, sausage and so forth) on the menu is available for a $7.95 per-order charge plus an 18% gratuity, which brings the total service fee to around $9.40.

The daily room service menu is offered from 11 to 6 a.m. with meals for all times of day, from grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch and chicken tenders for an afternoon snack to grilled salmon or rigatoni bolognese for dinner and fried chicken wings and chocolate cake for a late-night snack. Room service costs $7.95 per order with an added 18% gratuity.

Guests sailing in one of Royal Caribbean's Grand Suites or higher can order in-room dining from the main dining room during the hours of operation and order room service from the standard room service menu without a service fee.

Seabourn Cruise Line

carnival cruises room service

Seabourn Cruise Line 's gourmet dining experience extends to its room service with a menu of luxe delicacies available around the clock. Room service on board is always included and complimentary, with the option to order from the ship's main restaurant.

Highlights from the room service menu include a shrimp cocktail, prosciutto and melon, a New York sirloin steak and homemade cookies. While it's not advertised, guests can order complimentary caviar and Champagne anywhere, anytime on board.

Silversea Cruises

carnival cruises room service

Silversea 's butler service for every guest includes complimentary around-the-clock room service. The line's room service menu is extensive, with various dishes from a shrimp cocktail, spring rolls and New York strip steak to burgers, pizzas and ice cream.

If you're looking for a more complete dining experience in your suite, multicourse meals (highlights include lobster salad, Chilean sea bass and hazelnut chocolate cheesecake) are available to order from Atlantide, the ship's main restaurant, during regular dining hours. Complimentary caviar and Champagne can be ordered at any time by any guest.

Viking provides complimentary 24-hour room service for all cabins on all of its ocean and expedition vessels. The room service menu includes a selection of cheeses, plant-based and beef burgers, New York strip steak, poached Norwegian salmon and a bourbon pecan brownie served with vanilla ice cream.

An extensive breakfast menu printed on an order card includes fresh breakfast pastries, custom eggs, pancakes, corned beef hash and smoked salmon. Grand suites can order from the main dining room menu for in-suite private dining and dinner parties.

Viking does not offer room service for any cabin category on its river cruises.

Virgin Voyages

carnival cruises room service

Virgin 's 24-hour room service is an extension of the ship's on-trend cuisine, with many contemporary food options you're not likely to find on most other cruise lines. Room service orders can be placed through the Virgin Voyages app or by dialing the room service extension in your cabin.

Each room service order incurs a $7 delivery fee, though you can order as much food as you like. Certain items (such as specialty coffee, alcoholic beverages and fresh orange juice) carry an additional a la carte fee. However, your delivery fee is waived if you order an extra-fee item. The fee is also waived for all RockStar Quarters suites.

Breakfast delivery is from 5 to 11 a.m. The menu features contemporary items like a Nutella-stuffed French toast, an egg white frittata and a housemade date and almond protein bar. The shipwide room service menu from 11 to 5 a.m. has lunch, dinner and late-night options, with favorites that include a charcuterie and cheese plate, a New York strip steak, a blueberry-green tea vegan cheesecake and confetti cake pops.

Shaking things up, literally, Virgin's first-of-its-kind "Shake for Champagne" feature adds the convenience of Champagne delivery no matter where you are on the ship. Simply open the Virgin Voyages app and shake your phone three times to see a button pop up to order a $95 bottle of Moet & Chandon Imperial Champagne with flutes delivered to you anywhere on board, not just in your cabin.

Windstar Cruises

Windstar 's 24-hour room service is included with your fare. The line has a room service menu that includes a full breakfast, along with salads, burgers and sandwiches available until 10 p.m. nightly. The line also lets passengers order off the ship's main dining room's lunch and dinner menus during dining hours.

Carnival’s New Room Service Menu (with pricing)

In a confusing and poorly worded press release earlier this month , Carnival indicated they’d be changing the room service menus in the future. It created quite the stir online as it seemed to be just another one of Carnival’s numerous cutbacks. Today, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald shared the new room service menu, which will go into effect on October 1st.

Complimentary room service options for breakfast

The breakfast menu will look pretty similar to previous Carnival guests. It has options that used to be on the hang tags guests could put out the night before.

Breakfast will be offered from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and will have some complimentary options. Basically, a continental breakfast is offered at no additional charge. So you can get fruit, cereal, pastries, yogurt, and some juices without having to pay anything.

Guests can also choose from a variety of hot breakfast sandwiches for an additional fee. The cost is $5 – $6 per sandwhich, plus 18% gratuity. That’s an average of 58% higher than the $3- $4 per sandwich pricing Carnival was offering earlier this year.

carnival room service menu breakfast - oct 2022

All lunch and dinner room service options have a charge

As expected, all other items on the room service menu have a charge. Previously, the menu had both free and additional fee options. Carnival calls this “Leisure Dining,” and it’s available from 10 AM to 6 PM.

It was reported that there would be “higher quality” options because of this price. In reality, the menu released today closely resembles the one from earlier this year except for the additional costs. On average, the food that previously had a charge increased by $1 – $2 (a roughly 30% increase). Drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, can be ordered at the current bar prices ( see all the bar prices here ).

Still, the pricing is moderate and cheaper than room service prices found in hotels or restaurants on land. If you hadn’t cruised Carnival before, you’d most likely find these prices perfectly reasonable. They also have the options you’d expect, like salads, sandwiches, and chicken tenders. There’s not much missing, but there’s also nothing here that screams “wow!”

carnival room service menu lunch oct 2022 page 1

Carnival is trying to fight food waste

Heald indicated that this move was less of a cutback and more to stop excessive food waste. In a Facebook post, Heald said, “many cruisers would order multiple sandwiches and food items and end up leaving 50% or more uneaten. We have all seen those plates outside of the cabin doors. So while it is not the only reason and it would be silly of me to say it was, trying to cut down on food waste is one of the reasons these nominal fees now apply after breakfast time. “

This could make complete sense, especially considering Carnival’s rock-bottom prices for many of its sailings over the past year. Guests booking these heavily discounted prices, sometimes as low as $25 per person, might be more likely to order tons of free food and not eat it.

Perhaps Carnival’s strategy of packing the ships full of people at low fare is coming back to haunt them. From onboard brawls to reports of hour-long waits for late-night pizza (the only food venue now open late at night), it seems that the recent Carnival experience is different than the pre-shutdown one, and not for the better.

Carnival Cruise Line makes major main dining room menu change

B oth Carnival and Royal Caribbean made massive changes to their main dining room menus last year. They did so in very different ways.

Carnival Cruise Line hired the famed chef Emeril Lagasse as its Chief Culinary Officer. That's not an honorary title like the cruise line making Shaquille O'Neal its Chief Fun Officer.

Related: Carnival Cruise Line takes a stand on cruise ship ducks

The pioneering chef actively worked to revamp the cruise line's nightly menus, which included adding some of his signature dishes each night. Lagasse also has three different on-board specialty restaurants on Carnival ships, and he will have an ongoing role with the cruise line.

"Aside from the restaurants, one of his most important tasks will be helping us nurture the next generation of culinary talent. ... Plus, when you cruise, keep an eye open for a special Emeril recommendation on the main dining room menu," Carnival said at the time of his appointment.

Royal Caribbean took a different approach to its main-dining-room overhaul. It took items off the menu, dropping daily items including a basic steak, salmon, chicken, and several classic appetizers that used to appear on the menu each night.

Now, each night has a theme including "Bon Voyage," "Italian," "Mexican," "Caribbean," "French" and more. And Royal Caribbean offers fewer menu items each night, which the company said was a choice based on speed of service and food waste.

Carnival adds a new main dining room menu

In July, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald wrote that Carnival was adding vegan menus to all its ships. The cruise line had already offered vegan choices each night, but it did not have a full vegan menu.

"The reason I am posting this is that it gives me a chance to let all my vegan friends know that something special is coming. We are designing distinct vegan menus for breakfast, brunch, and dinner," he posted back in July. "We know that many now follow this lifestyle and we will do our very best to accommodate them when they cruise with us."

The vegan menus have been rolled out across the fleet and Carnival has another main-dining-room menu that it has recently introduced across much of the fleet. Heald discussed the move on his Facebook page on May 13.

Sign up for the Come Cruise With Me newsletter to save money on your next (or your first) cruise.

"A gluten-free menu is something that a lot of you have been asking for, and thanks to the wonderful culinary team at the mothership, we have introduced these to all the ships sailing from North America and they will be added also to the ship sailing from Australia," he posted.

Carnival passengers react to the new gluten-free menus

Many commenters on Heald's post were simply excited that Carnival has made gluten-free menus available in the main dining room.

"Thank you for sharing this John Heald, and please thank the beards for me for finally hearing the pleas of those of us who are gluten-free. Not all of us eat that way by choice," wrote Tamela Pollard Freeman.

Others were thankful but did have some questions.

"This is wonderful! As someone else mentioned, I would like to also be assured that there are kitchen protocols to ensure no cross-contamination happens (separate workstations, different utensils, dedicated bins, etc.), but so amazing to know there are safe options. Thank you," posted Sandra Dupuis.

Some passengers also shared their experiences eating gluten-free on Carnival ships.

"I was on a b2b sailing March 02-16 this year and was very thrilled with the gluten-free menu. There were lots of choices and variety. A couple of the meals were outstanding. I also very much appreciated the labels in the buffet. There always seemed to be at least 2 entree choices. And the gluten-free parfait at breakfast was another huge hit with me," said Elizabeth Cerins.

Those thoughts were echoed by Beth Marchetti.

"As someone with Celiac who last week got to experience this amazing change and Carnival’s commitment, I am so happy. Thank you! No stress in selecting meals, I did not get sick, and the staff was very supportive," she wrote.

‘I’m just flabbergasted’: Customer finds out her $12K cruise cabin was canceled a day before setting sail. Carnival won’t refund her

'we’ve been planning this vacation for a year.'.

Posted on May 15, 2024   Updated on May 15, 2024, 3:41 pm CDT

What would you do if your nearly $15,000 vacation was canceled the day before it started? Tiktoker Tiffany Banks (@thathippiedoc) said she had been planning her family vacation with Carnival Cruise Line for over a year, only to find out the day before that it had been canceled.

“Yesterday morning, I got an email from Carnival saying two of our excursions had been canceled,” she stated in a recently uploaded viral video. She said she followed up the email with a phone call to get more information. “They said, ‘Your excursions were canceled because your cabin was canceled,'” she shared.

The customer service representative she spoke with reportedly blamed the cancellation on the company’s system having a glitch. “The original person that I talked to said that the system canceled it, and then the second person … said that the online system had been logged into and [the room] had been canceled,” she said.

She added, “We talked for almost two and half hours, and the only solution they were willing to offer was two interior rooms [in place of the] Presidential Excel Suite.”

Why isn’t Banks happy with Carnival’s resolution?

Banks said she and her family had booked the Excel Presidential Suite. “It’s the biggest room on the Carnival Celebration ship. We had all kinds of extra perks,” she said.

The Excel Presidential Suite is Carnival’s most prized accommodation, known for its exclusive amenities and features, including a large private balcony and spacious room. According to Carnival’s booking page , suites on the Celebration ship can run for thousands of dollars, while interior rooms, which Carnival reportedly offered Banks as an alternative, are the most affordable options on the ship.

Yet, the customer service representative reportedly stressed that this was the only option Carnival could provide. Banks was “flabbergasted” by this response. “We have nearly $15,000 tied up in this vacation, including excursions,” she said. “The room itself was 12,000 or 13,000, and then we got a few grand tied up into excursions, and almost 2,000 for flights.”

“I never even fathomed that you all wouldn’t offer me my money back,” she said. “You all canceled my cruise … You are going to give me my money back.”

The customer service representative reportedly wouldn’t budge and continued to stress that this was the only option and that they were making these interior rooms available for her.

Viewers sympathized and speculated

The viral video has over 680,000 views and thousands of comments. Many viewers expressed their frustration on her behalf and said that Carnival would be losing their business.

@thathippiedoc We will never book with carnival again … #carnival #celebration #carnivalcelebration ♬ original sound – Tiffany Banks

“@carnival we are planning a retirement trip of a lifetime for next year. I’m not even looking at carnival now,” one commented.

This isn’t the first time Carnival has come under fire for its purported lack of consideration. For example, the company has previously been criticized for refusing to issue a refund to a grieving daughter whose mother couldn’t attend her cruise vacation because she had passed away. It has also been called out for skipping planned stops on a Caribbean-bound cruise.

Other viewers of Banks’s video shared their speculations as to why her room was canceled and how she could go about getting a refund.

“They gave your room away to someone else for whatever reason. Go to the top manager at Carnival and demand a refund! If that doesn’t work get a lawyer,” one shared. Another added, “My first thought: They canceled you to book a special guest with a huge tip for the accommodation. Call a lawyer!” Banks agreed, responding, “At this point, I think that that’s what happened.”

What will Banks do now?

Banks recently posted a teary-eyed update video in which she shared that she is still fighting for her refund and has not heard back from Carnival.

The Daily Dot has reached out to Banks via TikTok comment and Carnival via email for more information.
