What is Mario Kart Tour’s Tier Shop?

Tier Shop is a special shop that appears in the bottom section of Mario Kart Tour’s shop. Granted, players meet the level requirement. If we are not wrong, players have to be at Level 45 or above to unlock the Tier Shop that holds items like Drivers, Karts, Gliders, and Tickets that players can buy using Gold Coins.

How Does Mario Kart Tour’s Tier Shop Works?

mario kart tour tier shop

As the name suggests, Tier Shop is a special shop where items are unlocked based on players Tier. The higher players Tier, the more items they’ll be able to get with coins from the Tier Shop.

The item for sale in the Tier Shop is updated twice every tour. The first set of items are available at the start of any new tour and the second set of items are available in the second half of the same tour.

Players get around a weeks time to buy and clear the items from the Tier Shop. While some items and their prices in the Tier Shop are reasonable. We had moments when a single high end glider point cap ticket was sold at 20,000 Coins.

Mario Kart Tour  is a kart racing action game currently available on Android and iOS platforms.

If you’re good at using the Jump Boost skill, then make sure you use it with Festival Girl. This skill allows you to extend the performance of the kart’s skill and, in the meantime, you can also collect extra points.

Choco’s special skill is also Mini-Turbo Plus, which greatly increases the stock speed and acceleration once you trigger it. Remember to use it when there’s a perfect chance to overtake multiple karts as it will also allow you to nab extra points.

Best picks in A Tier

As you've probably guessed, the Mini-Turbo Plus skill is one of the most popular and powerful skills in the game as the cars that use it all find themselves placed in the top tiers. Happy Ride also uses Mini-Turbo Plus and the effects of the skill are the same as the previous.

Red Taxi’s special skill is Dash Panel boost. Use it wisely to bring the best out of it in terms of increasing the kart’s performance and extra points. Although it's worth noting this skill can’t be upgraded.

This kart also uses the Mini-Turbo Plus which allows it to gain a speed boost. Although the skill might be the same, it works differently when used in this kart.

  • Chocolate Mint Soft Swerve kart

  • Blue Turbo Yoshi
  • Gold Cheep Snorkel
  • Cheermellow
  • Red Standard 8
  • White Royale
  • Yellow Offroader
  • Red Offroader
  • Turbo Birdo

Best picks in B Tier

If you plan on using the Dash Panel skills, Wild Pink is a good choice in this tier. The best way to earn extra points while using this skill is by activating it when overtaking more than three karts.

Making a good start and leading the race from the beginning can guarantee you an easy win. To help you with that, the Rocket Start Plus skill comes into action and gives you an extra boost in speed at the start of the race.

A jump boost is very essential and helpful in some situations when the contest is about to finish. To utilise it in the best way, use it during the last lap as you approach the finish line.

Gold Blooper

  • Wild Wiggler kart
  • Black Sneeker
  • Gold Blooper
  • Gold Bullet Blaster
  • Radish Rider
  • Vampire Flyer Kartr
  • Sweet Daytripper
  • Black Circuit
  • Black B Dasher
  • Yellow Turbo Birdo
  • Super Blooper
  • Piranha Pipes kart
  • Turbo Yoshi
  • Yellow Turbo Yoshi kart
  • Black Penguin Slider
  • Pirate Sushi Racer
  • Chrome DK Jumbo
  • Koopa Clown
  • Red B Dasher
  • Red Streamliner

Best picks in C Tier

If you plan to use any kart from this tier, Gold Blooper can be a good choice as it uses the powerful Mini Boost Plus, which - as you know by now - will help increase acceleration.

Activate Slipstream Plus when you’re drifting on the track. This will allow you to overtake maximum racers while the boost is still active.

The jump boost might not be much effective when paired with Cloud 9. But considering the tier, it is still viable. There are also many alternatives to Cloud 9 which come with other upgradable skills.

Mario Kart Tour kart tier list Sunny Sailer

  • Sunny Surf Sailer
  • Cheep Charger
  • Green Cheep Charger
  • Red Turbo Yoshi
  • Birthday Girl Daisy
  • Barrel Train
  • Bull's-Eye Banzai
  • Blue Biddybuggy
  • Birthday Girl Rosalina
  • Rambi Rider
  • Poltergust 4000
  • Light-blue Turbo Yoshi
  • Light-blue Turbo Birdo
  • Flame Flyer
  • Streamliner
  • Birthday Girl
  • Green Kiddie Kart
  • Pink Mushmellow
  • Red Kiddie Kart
  • Koopa Dasher
  • Bullet Blaster

Best picks in D Tier

It is probably the only kart in this tier that has Rocket Start plus ability. As usual, use it when the race begins to give you an advantage over the other karters.

Daytripper’s Dash Panel boost is enough to give it an advantage over others. But, using the Plus ability on the stock one will allow you to claim more points than usual.

The only Jump Boost skilled kart we would recommend to use in this tier. At max, it lets your kart gain 1.15 times boost in comparison to the normal option.

Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List – Best Drivers in the Game!

Image of Jean-Pierre van Wyk

Our Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List goes over the best drivers you can collect in the game! If you want to have the greatest advantage when going into a race, you'll want to have the racers with the highest possibility of going on a frenzy! This list features a look at which racers have the highest rate for that and what their special skill is!

Update (10/10/19): New characters have been added to the game and have been placed on our tier list!

Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List

Characters across the board pretty much drive exactly the same, so the thing that sets them apart are rarities, frenzy levels, and special skills. So, those are the metrics we're taking into account when ranking all of the drivers! Higher rarity characters have more potential to be upgraded when leveling them up.

mario kart tour tier shop

Dry Bowser has one of the best abilities to utilize, and also has five frenzy levels and an additional four two item bonus courses. Add those up and you likely have the best driver in the game!

Special Skill: Bowser's Shell

Hurl this sharp shell in front of your kart to scatter opponents.

Favored Courses - Three Items Per Box

  • Dino Dino Jungle
  • Dino Dino Jungle T
  • Bowser’s Castle 1R
  • Neo Bowser City T
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R

Favored Courses - Two Items Per Box

  • Daisy Hills T
  • Bowser’s Castle 1
  • Kalimari Desert T
  • Neo Bowser City
  • Neo Bowser City R
  • Rock Rock Mountain
  • Rock Rock Mountain T

Metal Mario

Metal Mario jumps up the list with a bunch of new frenzy courses available to it!

Special Skill: Fire Flower

Lets you throw three fireballs. Spin out your opponents while you burn up the track!
  • Rainbow Road
  • Rainbow Road T
  • Rock Rock Mountain R
  • Mario Circuit 2R
  • Shy Guy Bazaar
  • Rainbow Road R
  • Toad Circuit
  • Yoshi Circuit R
  • Yoshi Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • Shy Guy Bazaar T

Mario (Hakama)

mario kart tour tier shop

Mario (Hakama) is a new character in the recent patch, and he's got a pretty good set of favored courses. His special skill isn't super strong though, so he isn't able to jump to the top of the list just yet.

Special Skill: Coin Box

Spits out coins with reckless abandon. It's a very generous item!
  • Bowser's Casstle 1T
  • Mario Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 2
  • Tokyo Blur R/T
  • Bowser's Castle 1R
  • Mario Circuit 1R
  • Mario Circuit 2T
  • Shy Guy Bazar T
  • Tokyo Blur T

Mario (Musician)

mario kart tour tier shop

Mario (Musician) is still a strong character and has a useful ability.

Special Skill: Double Bob-ombs

Gives you two Bob-ombs you can hurl at once. Engulf your opponents in a might blast!
  • Daisy Hills
  • New York Minute T
  • New York Minute R
  • Daisy Hills R
  • New York Minute
  • New York Minute R/T

Peachette has good value and a pretty decent ability. If you can get good with the ability and not leave any mushrooms for your opponents then it is even better!

Special Skill: Mushroom Cannon

Rapidly fires Mushrooms onto the course. Grab as many as you can to dash ahead!
  • Dino Dino Jungle R
  • Mario Circuit
  • Toad Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit R
  • Yoshi Circuit
  • Mario Circuit 1

Peach (Kimono)

mario kart tour tier shop

Peach (Kimono) is very similar to Peachette, but has a couple less courses in the two items category which keeps it a bit low.

  • Tokyo Blur R

mario kart tour tier shop

Pauline has a great ability which is what sets her slightly above some of the other drivers in this tier. The problem for her is that her value is weak because of only two frenzy levels.

Special Skill: Lucky Seven

Surround your kart with seven items. Tap once to use them all!
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon T

mario kart tour tier shop

Peach has a ton of value with the four frenzy levels and has a pretty solid special ability that gives her a way to protect herself from attacks!

Special Skill: Heart

This Heart is overflowing with kindness! It will protect you from opponent’s attacks.
  • Koopa Troopa Beach R
  • Koopa Troopa Beach T

mario kart tour tier shop

Daisy is very similar to Peach and has the same ability. She is only edged out because she has one less two item course.

  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R

mario kart tour tier shop

Mario is a very solid driver with a lot of value and a pretty good special skill.

  • Koopa Troopa Beach

mario kart tour tier shop

Bowser has slightly more value than Donkey Kong and has a better special skill.

  • Bowser’s Castle 1T
  • Kalimari Desert

mario kart tour tier shop

Bowser Jr. comes out of the gate relatively strong with a good ability and quite a few frenzy course options.

  • Choco Island 2R
  • Bowser's Castle 1T
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon

mario kart tour tier shop

Diddy Kong slides down the list a bit with a lack of frenzy courses and an only somewhat useful ability. Spraying a bunch of bananas on the course isn't terrible, but you'll have to be sure to avoid them yourself!

Special Skill: Banana Barrels

This barrel automatically launches Bananas. Turn the course into a sea of Bananas!
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Choco Island 2T

mario kart tour tier shop

Wario's got a pretty good ability, but is lacking a bit in frenzy courses.

  • Kalimari Desert R
  • Choco Island 2

Donkey Kong

mario kart tour tier shop

Donkey Kong only has two frenzy courses and his ability isn't particularly great.

Special Skill: Giant Banana

This particularly stern-looking Giant Banana splits into three Bananas when hit.

mario kart tour tier shop

Yoshi has strong value with the three frenzy courses, but unfortunately his ability is RNG based which makes it hit and miss.

Special Skill: Yoshi's Egg

Chases down opponents. But what’s inside?! You’ll find out when it breaks!

mario kart tour tier shop

Toad got an additional frenzy course in the recent update which puts him firmly ahead of Toadette.

Special Skill: Triple Mushrooms

Gives you three Mushrooms to use in one go for a long-lasting boost.

Toadette - 12

mario kart tour tier shop

Toadette isn't bad, but she's only got a couple of frenzy courses which keeps her low on the tier.

mario kart tour tier shop

Lakitu and Toadette are very similar, it just depends which ability you value more.

Special Skill: Triple Green Shells

Three Green Shells surround your kart. They’ll fire off rapidly all at once!

Rosalina - 10

mario kart tour tier shop

Rosalina is a new character in the patch, but finds herself at the bottom of the tier. She's lacking in frenzy courses, and her ability is okay but it being able to be used by opponents is pretty bad.

Special Skill: Dash Ring

Pass through this for a burst of speed. Your opponents can use it, too, so make it count!

The B-Tier is pretty much all determined on frenzy courses and based upon their abilities. There's not a ton separating the majority of these characters.

mario kart tour tier shop

  • Bowser's Castle 1

mario kart tour tier shop

Special Skill: Bubble

Kick back and relax as this bubble floats you around. But beware the sudden pop!

Koopa Troopa

Whirls around and around your kart to strike nearby opponents.

Mario Kart Tour: How to Tier Up & What It Does

Image of Omar Banat

If you’re going to take this game seriously , then you better learn this crucial information. Here’s everything you need to know about how to tier up and what that does in Mario Kart Tour .

What Tier Up Does in Mario Kart Tour

First, to unlock tiers you must unlocking ranking. You won’t even see anything about tiers until you finally reach the point where you’ve unlocked ranking.

Luckily, we have this fantastic guide on how to get Ranking in Mario Kart Tour . Just follow that guide first if you aren’t there yet and then continue from here.

How to Tier Up

Once you have ranking, then you’ll be able to compete against other players on a leaderboard in Mario Kart Tour. You get points by performing well in races, so aim for those first-place finishes every time.

Amassing large amounts of points each ranking season (typically about one week long) will yield some great rewards. This is also how you will tier up. The better you do, the faster you’ll rise through the ranks.

Doing well in Mario Kart Tour is important, but so is racing often. If you only do one or two cups a week, then tiering up will be an incredibly slow process. Playing as often as you can is a solid strategy for moving up.

What It Does

As you move up the tiers, your competition will become increasingly difficult. It will help balance out your opponents to make sure you always have a fighting chance no matter where you’re placed.

Fortunately, facing more high-skilled racers isn’t the only perk of moving up. As you reach higher tiers you’ll also be able to unlock better rewards at the end of each ranking season.

That’s all there is to know about tiers in Mario Kart Tour . If you’re looking to quickly move up the rankings, then check out our guides on how to get fast and easy points , how to change CC , and whether you can play with friends .

Super Mario Kart Tour

The Super Mario Kart Tour was the twenty-sixth tour of Mario Kart Tour , which began on September 9, 2020 and ended on September 22, 2020. The tour introduced Mario and Donkey Kong Jr. in their Super Mario Kart sprite-based appearance as new drivers, the latter making his first playable appearance in the Mario Kart series since the aforementioned game. A new remix course based on SNES Rainbow Road , named RMX Rainbow Road 1 , was added as the signature course of this tour. This was the first tour to introduce an RMX course since the Flower Tour nine tours prior. The drivers were announced in the Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct on September 3, 2020. [1] Participating in the tour was one of the My Nintendo missions for the anniversary, with rewards including sweepstakes and a collectible pin set. [2] The menu's background featured the main intersection of RMX Rainbow Road 1 as the landmark for this tour. This was the first tour to include different music in its trailer other than its main background music (SNES Rainbow Road's theme): at the start and end of the trailer, the race start and victory themes from Super Mario Kart play respectively.

  • " The Super Mario Kart Tour is almost over. Thanks for racing! Next up in #MarioKartTour is the Los Angeles Tour! " [6]

Names in other languages [ edit ]

Trivia [ edit ].

  • The trailer for this tour mistakenly featured the Gold Standard instead of the new Gold Pipe Frame . [7] The Gold Standard was exclusive to Coin Rush mode at the time of the Super Mario Kart Tour, not appearing in other modes until the 2022 Mario vs. Luigi Tour . The mistake was clarified in a reply tweet [8] to the trailer's tweet and in the YouTube video's description.
  • Super Mario Kart Pipe 1's description read, "Driver Mario (SNES) and kart 8-Bit Pipe Frame make their debut in classic 8-bit style!" This is inaccurate for Mario (SNES), as the SNES is a 16-bit console.
