Biografie - Kontra K

Dieser deutsche Rapper ist anders als die anderen: Kontra K setzt neue Maßstäbe – sowohl mit seiner Message als auch mit seinen Live-Shows. Getreu dem Motto „Der Sonne entgegen” hat sich der Berliner mit viel harter Arbeit von der Straße nach ganz oben gerappt. Anders als viele seiner Kollegen stilisiert er sich in seinen Texten nicht als harter Gangsta, sondern motiviert seine Fans zu Positivem. Zum Beispiel zum Sport. Der dient nämlich auch Kontra K selbst als unerschöpfliche Kraft-Quelle, wie dem durchtrainierten, schwer tätowierten Kickboxer deutlich anzusehen ist.

1987 als Maximilian Diehn in Berlin geboren, hat es Kontra K in seiner Kindheit und Jugend nicht immer leicht. Der Weg auf die schiefe Bahn scheint vorgezeichnet, wäre da nicht die Liebe zum Sprechgesang und zum Kampfsport. In seinen frühen Texten verarbeitet der Teenager seine Erfahrungen von der Straße und orientiert sich dabei an US-Vorbildern wie Tupac oder Notorious B.I.G. Unter dem Namen „Vollkontakt” bringt Kontra K im Duo mit KiezSpezial 2008 das Mixtape „Fightclub” unter die Leute – ein erster Schritt in Richtung Bekanntheit. Bald darauf gründet er gemeinsam mit Skinny Al und Fatal das Label DePeKa Records.

Auf ebendiesem veröffentlicht Kontra K 2010 sein Debütalbum „Dobermann”. Nach einem weiteren Mixtape namens „Elektrosmog” und dem zweiten Full-Length-Album „Was die Zeit bringt” landet der Newcomer mit „12 Runden” seinen ersten großen Wurf: Die Scheibe entert die Top 10 und Kontra K, der bis dahin als Handwerker schuftete, kann sich endlich voll und ganz der Musik widmen. 2015 tritt er endgültig „Aus dem Schatten ins Licht”. Ab da gibt sich der „Adrenalin”-geladene Chartbreaker mit nichts weniger als der Pole Position zufrieden. „Labyrinth”, „Gute Nacht”, „Erde & Knochen”, „Sie wollten Wasser doch kriegen Benzin” und „Vollmond” – sie alle führen die Charts an und halten sich dort monatelang. Die Anerkennung innerhalb der Szene lässt sich auch an Gastauftritten von deutschsprachigen Rap-Größen wie Gzuz, RAF Camora, Bonez MC oder Capital Bra ablesen.

„Erfolg ist kein Glück”

Kontra K ist ein Arbeitstier, eine Kämpfernatur und damit ein Vorbild für unzählige junge Menschen. Jedes Jahr liefert er seinen Fans neues Futter in Form von Alben oder EPs. Tracks wie „Wölfe”, „Diese eine Melodie”, „Tiefschwarz”, „Alles dreht sich”, „Soldaten 2.0” oder „Blei” sprechen vielen direkt aus der Seele. Die Message dabei: „Man will nicht ins Ghetto rein, sondern aus dem Ghetto raus”. Wenn der Berliner über das Leben auf den Straßen der Hauptstadt rappt, dann weiß er genau, wovon er spricht. Trotzdem liegt ihm nichts ferner, als Kriminalität zu glorifizieren. Auch Protzen ist so gar nicht sein Ding. Stattdessen vermittelt er Werte wie Ehre und Loyalität. Kontra K ist einer von den Guten – und kehrt 2021 dennoch „Aus dem Licht in den Schatten zurück”. 2022 veröffentlicht er dann sein Doppelalbum „Für den Himmel durch die Hölle“, das sich auf der ersten CD dem Rap widmet und auf der zweiten CD zahlreiche Rockeinflüsse verarbeitet. Auch diese beiden Alben konnten sich den Spitzenplatz in den deutschen Longplayer-Charts sichern.

Auf der Bühne steht der Rapper selbstredend immer im Rampenlicht – und fühlt sich dort sichtlich wohl. Dass er es liebt, aufzutreten, daran lässt er bei seinen Konzerten keinen Zweifel. Auch der Kontakt zu den Fans ist ihm immens wichtig; er vergisst nie, wem er seinen überragenden Erfolg zu verdanken hat. Ob „Letzte Wölfe” 2019/20 oder „Der Sonne entgegen” zum „Vollmond”-Album – inzwischen gastiert Kontra K auf Tour ausnahmslos in den großen Hallen und Arenen. Die authentischen, motivierenden Songs, das grandiose Bühnenbild und die energiegeladene Performance werden auch auf der nächsten Kontra-K-Tour Tausende begeisterte Fans zurücklassen.

He is an exceptional phenomenon in German music and one of the most successful artists: with eleven albums in eleven years, nine of them in the top ten and seven longplayers in a row all at number one - plus gold and platinum awards as well as numerous prizes and honours. Now the Berlin rapper Kontra K is coming to the Olympic Park once again - for his concert on 10 March 2024 in the Olympic Hall.

Only in September 2023 did he heat up his fans next door in the Olympic Stadium. At his open-air performance as part of the Superbloom Festival, Kontra K thrilled his audience and proved once again that he has raised German rap to a new level in recent years. Since "Labyrinth" in 2016, he has stormed to the top of the German charts with each of his albums, including the follow-up albums "Gute Nacht", "Erde & Knochen", "Sie wollten Wasser doch kriegen Benzin", "Vollmond", "Aus dem Licht in den Schatten zurück" and "Für den Himmel durch die Hölle". In 2018, he won the "Best Live Act" category at the 1 Live Crown Awards, and in 2019 to 2021 he won the "Best Hip-Hop Act" category three times in a row. A flawless hat trick.

The number one spot in the German singles charts, on the other hand, eluded him for a long time - until the summer of 2023, when he reinterpreted Lana del Rey's hit song "Summertime Sadness" in cooperation with her and celebrated a number one hit for the first time with "Summertime". Now Kontra K is coming back to the stage live, during his "Die Hoffnung klaut mir niemand" tour he will stop at the Olympic Hall on 10 March 2024. Of course, again with rap from a new dimension.

K-pop group Stray Kids confirm 2024 tour dates, perform on Good Morning America

K-pop boy group Stray Kids took over the Good Morning America studio in New York on May 15 when they performed their new English single Lose My Breath.

It was the first time the octet – comprising Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N – performed on an American television show.

Stray Kids have also confirmed that they will be embarking on a world tour in 2024. This was earlier teased by American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger on the red carpet of the Met Gala on May 6.

“We do have some good news. We are preparing a tour. Big news because it’s been so long since we prepared for something so big,” Felix, 23, told fans in the studio.

Asked about the latest single, Stray Kids leader Bang Chan, 26, said: “We got to work with Charlie (Puth), it was a very good experience. He’s very musically talented. There’s a lot of things to learn. Overall, the project turned out very, very well. I hope you guys like it.”

American pop singer Puth not only features in the song, but also had a hand in composing the music and writing the lyrics.

Unlike the band’s typical fare of fast tracks, Lose My Breath, which was released on May 10, is an R&B-infused pop number.

Stray Kids have announced dates for three major outdoor summer music festivals in 2024.

They will perform on the main stage at Italian music festival I-Days in Milan on July 12 before headlining the July 14 show at BST Hyde Park in London. The group will then head to Chicago for the US city’s annual Lollapalooza music festival on Aug 2. THE KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

Global superstar Taylor Swift is doing much more for British Swifties than just performing their favorite hits this summer – her Eras Tour is now also projected to boost the U.K. economy by nearly one billion pounds.

The “Swiftonomics” report also said that attending one of Swift’s 15 U.K. tour dates is expected to be more than 12 times the average cost of a U.K. night out (67 pounds) and even higher than the cost of a bachelor or bachelorette party (779 pounds).

But it isn’t just the tickets raking in the cash — fans will also spend on accommodation, travel and clothing for the big night. Almost a fifth will buy a new outfit especially for the concert, Barclay’s said.

More money is expected to be spent on official merchandise at the four tour stops: London, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff and pre-gig meals will also boost restaurant sales near the venues. Almost 1.2 million fans are projected to attend across the 15 dates.

A behavioral scientist at Barclay’s likened Swift’s impact to the fan crazes associated with Elvis and The Beatles.

Dr Peter Brooks said: “Whoever came up with the phrase ‘money can’t buy happiness’ clearly wasn’t a Swiftie. There’s growing evidence that spending on experiences boosts happiness and well-being more so than purchasing physical items, especially if that experience is shared with friends and loved ones.”

Stray Kids Confirm 2024 Tour Dates, Perform ‘Lose My Breath' on ‘Good Morning America'

Stray Kids staged a takeover of Good Morning America on Wednesday morning (May 15), dropping into the show's New York studios to take a few questions from fans before busting out a performance of their new single.

The first order of business for the eight-member K-pop band was confirming that they are headed out on a world tour this year. Rapper Felix verified the tease that designer Tommy Hilfiger dropped on the red carpet at the Met Gala, telling Lara Spencer, "We do have some good news. We are preparing a tour. Big news because it's been so long since we prepared for something so big. And so, yeah, we took this chance to prepare something for our fans. So exciting."

Dancer Bang Chan also took an audience question from a fan who wanted to know what the creative process was for making the band's latest single, "Lose My Breath." He said, "We got the chance to work with Charlie [Puth], it was a very good experience. Because he's very musically talented. There's a lot of things to learn. Overall, the project came out very, very well. So, hope you guys like it. Do you like it?"

The group them performed the song in studio, singing and dancing along to the song in front of a wall of flashing neon lights as the studio full of fans sang along and held up their armloads of tributes.

At press time the only announced dates for the group's tour were a July 12 gig at the Ippodromo SNAI La Maura in Milano, Italy, followed by a July 14 show in Hyde Park in London, and an August date at Lollapalooza in Chicago, which runs from the Aug. 1-4.

Childish Gambino will embark on a world tour in August four years after first releasing his “3.15.20” album, which was rereleased Sunday.

The multihyphenate — better known as Donald Glover in the film and TV industry — dropped a new version of his 2020 album “3.15.20” under its original name, “Atavista,” which he called “the finished version” of his fourth studio album.

Gambino’s New World Tour , his first since 2019, will include stops across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand and include Amaarae and Willow for select dates. Presale begins Wednesday and general sales begin Friday.

The “Community” alum and “Atlanta” star launches the tour on Aug. 11 in Oklahoma City and comes to Los Angeles on Sept. 18 and 19, where he’ll play Crypto.com Arena with Willow. His other California show will be Sept. 21 in San Francisco, where he’ll play the Chase Center with Amaarae. Gambino wraps the North American leg of the tour in Chicago in October then heads to France, across Europe then to Australia and New Zealand. The tour is slated to wrap in Perth, Australia, in February 2025.

The “Swarm” creator and “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” star is expected to follow the project with the soundtrack for his film “Bando Storm and the New World.”

Upon releasing “Atavista” on Sunday — an album that features Ariana Grande, 21 Savage and Summer Walker — he also dropped the album’s first single, the upbeat “Little Big Foot.” The accompanying music video was directed by Glover’s “Atlanta” series director and Emmy winner Hiro Murai, stars “Abbott Elementary” creator and star Quinta Brunson and features Young Nudy.

Miley Cyrus is back on the U.K. songs chart this week with the tune that recently helped revitalize her career and bring her to new heights. As that cut returns, her newer, current single is still holding on…though it may not stick around for much longer.

“Flowers” grows in popularity and returns to the U.K. songs chart this week. The tune blasts back onto the ranking of the most-consumed tunes in the nation at No. 88.

With another turn on the tally, “Flowers” extends its lead as Cyrus’ longest-charting single in the U.K. The Grammy-winning song has now lived on the roster for 63 weeks, as of this frame. Her second-longest-running win remains “Midnight Sky,” which found space on the list for 39 weeks.

Cyrus collected her third career No. 1 in the U.K. last year with “Flowers,” which was an instant smash. The tune debuted in first place on the competitive tally and then refused to move. “Flowers” would go on to rack up 10 weeks at No. 1 before finally stepping aside…though its decline down the chart was slow—and apparently not final.

“Flowers” is one of several comebacks on the U.K. songs chart this week, and they all come from musical superstars known the world over. The highest-ranking of the bunch is “As It Was” by Harry Styles. That decade-defining smash experienced a similar journey to “Flowers,” though one year earlier.

The Chainsmokers, Zerb, and Ink see their collaborative new tune “Addicted” return at No. 75. That’s a new peak for the cut, which has now racked up just two frames on the list. Olivia Rodrigo’s “So American” is also back at No. 100 as the singer heads to the U.K. on her Guts World Tour.

As “Flowers” sprouts again, Cyrus’ other hit single is sliding backward on the chart. “II Most Wanted,” her first collaboration with Beyoncé, falls from No. 62 to No. 92. That kind of huge tumble suggests that the track is likely not going to hold on much longer.
