No Visa Fee for Children: Here's How to Apply for a Family Group Visit Visa in UAE

No Visa Fee for Children: Here's How to Apply for a Family Group Visit Visa in UAE

Tourists can apply for the family group visit visa through travel agencies for either 30 days or 60 days which can be extended within the country.

If your loved ones are planning a trip to the UAE, here's a reminder: tourists can apply for a family group visit visa, in which children receive a visa free-of-cost.

The family group visit visa allows children under the age of 18 to receive a visa free-of-cost, while the parents to pay for their own fee.

“The application for this visa should be submitted along with either father’s or mother’s application,”

said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager for inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide.

Industry experts said that the family group visit visa is highly in demand and many visitors are opting for this entry permit.

“A family group visit visa is more convenient and cost-effective for families, given that there is no visa fee for children under the age of 18,” said Subair adding that it is not restricted to any number of children.
“The visa can be applied for one parent and both of them visiting the UAE is not necessary,”

added Subair.

As it's the festive season, we are issuing many family group visit visas every day as Indians want to celebrate Diwali in Dubai, said Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels

Experts say that this visa was introduced two years ago and people from all over the world who are aware of it prefer this service.

How to apply

To apply for this visa, visitors should collectively submit passport copy and photos to the agency.

“We will process the entry permit as a family visa, where the children can travel without visa charges. However travel agent service charges and insurance must be paid for children,”

said Firoz.

“This visa will be issued in a day or two,”

Firoz added.

The visa fee for parents within the group application, along with the service charge for children, may vary on the travel agency.

However, the cost for 30 days visa for a parent ranges from Dh350 to Dh500 on average and the service charge and insurance for a child lies between Dh80 and Dh120.

“For 60 days visa for single person, the fees is Dh500 to Dh650 on an average and the service charge including insurance may vary from Dh130 to Dh170,”

Experts said that the family visa can be extended without exiting the country,

“however, a full visa fee has to be paid for children. The extension within the country is not free for children,”

said Subair.

“Visitors can extend the family visa up to 120 days without exiting the country,”

Traveling with your family is one of the most exciting things you can do. Dubai, in particular, is a great destination to visit with your family. If you are planning to visit Dubai with your child, you will need to apply for a family visit visa for your child.

In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process of applying for a family visit visa for a child in the UAE.

Now, let's be honest, the process of applying for a family visit visa isn't exactly a walk in the park. But fear not! With our expert guidance, you'll be able to breeze through the application process with ease. So, let's dive right in and take a closer look at the five essential steps you need to follow to secure a family visit visa for your child in the UAE.

  • A birth certificate for the child
  • A marriage certificate (if the child is traveling with only one parent)

It is important to note that some of these documents may need to be attested by the UAE embassy in your home country.

After submitting the application, you will need to pay the visa fee. The fee for a family visit visa for a child in UAE may vary depending on the travel agency you use.

In the UAE, residents with certain visas can sponsor family members to live in the country without a job.

If you are unemployed or a student under the age of 18, you need to be sponsored by a family member to remain in the Emirates year-round .

In October 2022, changes to the law meant that residents can now bring their parents and their spouse's parents without having to show they are the only source of support.

However, a minimum monthly salary is still required.

Here is everything you need to know about sponsoring family members.

What monthly income is required to sponsor parents or underage siblings?

To sponsor parents or underage siblings, the minimum salary threshold required is higher than for a wife or child.

Residents can sponsor up to five family members if they earn a minimum monthly salary of Dh10,000.

This increases to six family members if they earn at least Dh15,000 a month.

For more than six family members, dispensation is required.

The fee for sponsoring parents is Dh1,750, plus a refundable Dh5,000 deposit.

“Setting a minimum salary as a condition for expatriates wishing to sponsor family members is only to ensure they will be properly provided for,” said Nida Al Masri, a legal consultant at Justitia Advocates and Legal Consultants in Dubai.

“The terms and conditions are important to regulate this procedure, which reflects the UAE's commitment to supporting its expatriate community and creating a more inclusive society.”

Which accommodation is required to sponsor parents?

The law requires that sponsors are already in suitable accommodation before they apply for the family visa.

This is classified as at least a two-bedroom house or flat, before they apply for the family visa.

They must also present supporting documents that prove family ties at residency centres.

What documents do you need to sponsor parents?

The following documents should also be submitted:

  • Passport-size photograph of the family member
  • Copy of the family member's valid passport
  • Copy of the resident's Emirates ID, passport and residency page.
  • Proof of residence, such as a lease contract
  • Labour contract
  • Three months of bank statements for the resident

Can a woman sponsor her family?

In Abu Dhabi, a woman can sponsor her husband and children if the request is approved by the authorities, according to a customer service agent of the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship – ICA .

“She should have a valid work visa and her monthly salary should be at least Dh5,000. The cost of the one-year visa is Dh2,575 and it can be renewed for one more year,” said the executive.

In Dubai, a woman can sponsor her family, but her monthly salary should be at least Dh4,000 and her request must be approved by the GDRFA, the immigration authority.

“A wife can sponsor the family, but she has to obtain an no objection certificate from the husband. The NOC has to be notarised by the Dubai court notary service,” an Amer customer service representative said.

A single mother can also sponsor her child.

What does it cost to sponsor a spouse or child?

A husband can sponsor his immediate family members, such as his wife and children, if they have a minimum salary of Dh4,000 or Dh3,000 plus accommodation.

If these conditions are met, the husband must open a registration file.

This costs between Dh200 to Dh300 if they are outside the UAE, rising to up to four times as much if they are in the country, due to the price of the entry permit and the charge for change of status, according to the Amer Centre for visa services.

The medical test, Emirates ID typing and visa stamping will come to around Dh1,000 altogether. All costs are per person and there is no security deposit needed. Medical tests are not needed for children under 18.

Parents can sponsor sons who are 18 and can continue to do so until they are 25 . Unmarried daughters and disabled children are granted a residency permit regardless of their age.

The documents and the visa costs are the same and it is valid for two years.

90-day visit visa for family members

UAE residents can apply for 90-day entry permits for family members, rather than a 60-day visa, before sponsorship is finalised.

“The resident should have a refundable deposit of Dh1,000 to issue a visit visa for the family members,” the Amer Centre representative said.

The fee for an entry permit is Dh1,020 and the following documents should be submitted:

  • copy of the family member's valid passport
  • copy of the resident's Emirates ID
  • proof of residence, such as a lease contract or hotel reservation
  • copy of a return ticket

Visas can also be applied for online at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs website, or on the department's app.

Uae family group tourist visa: kids under 18 enter for free.

visit visa dubai cost for child

Tourists can now apply for a family group visit visa, and the good news is that it’s free of charge for children.

Under this scheme, children below the age of 18 can receive a visa without any cost, while the standard visa fees apply to their parents. The application for this visa should be submitted alongside either the father’s or mother’s application.

Industry experts highlight the growing popularity of this entry permit among visitors, citing its convenience and cost-effectiveness, as there are no visa fees for children under 18. Importantly, there are no restrictions on the number of children eligible for this permit, and it even applies to children traveling with only one parent. This visa is available for stays of 30 or 60 days, with the option for extension within the country.

Application Process: To apply, a family needs to submit passport copies and photographs to a travel agency all at once. While the visa itself is free for children, travel agent service charges and insurance fees will apply. The agency then processes the application, typically issuing the visa within a day or two.

Cost: The visa fee for parents, along with service charges for children, may vary depending on the travel agency. For a 30-day visa for a parent, costs range from Dh350 to Dh500, and service charges and insurance for a child range from Dh80 to Dh120. A 60-day visa will cost Dh500 to Dh650, with service charges, including insurance, varying from Dh130 to Dh170.

Requirements:

  • Passport copy
  • Passport-sized photograph

Extension Policy: The family visa can be extended without exiting the country, but a full visa fee must be paid for children during the extension. Visitors can extend the family visa for up to 120 days without leaving the country.

How a single or married mother can sponsor her child in Dubai

  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Required Documents
  • Validity of the Visa
  • Where to Apply

Not only does the UAE provides a robust business environment but it also offers a family-oriented lifestyle, with equal opportunities for men and women. The country’s laws also allow expatriate women to sponsor their children’s residence visas, whether they are an employee in the private sector or own a business in the free zone. So if you’re an expat mother interested in sponsoring a child in Dubai, you’ve come to the right place.

We’ve compiled comprehensive information on the eligibility criteria, necessary documents and charges for mothers to sponsor their children in Dubai.

Can a mother sponsor her child in Dubai?

Yes, expat mothers can sponsor their child’s residence visa in Dubai. According to the new family visa rules, mothers looking to sponsor children in Dubai must earn a minimum salary of AED 4,000 or AED 3,500 plus accommodation provided by the employer.

If they meet this minimum salary requirement, expat mothers will be eligible for sponsoring a child in Dubai. You can refer to our guide to learn more about family visa cost in Dubai .

It’s important to note that married, divorced and single mothers can sponsor their child’s residence visa if they can provide the required documents pertaining to the custodial rights of the child in the home country.

However, please remember that the mother is not allowed to sponsor her child’s visa if the father lives in the UAE and meets the requirements for sponsoring a child in Dubai.

Sponsoring a Child as a Divorced Mother in Dubai

Many people also ask, ‘can a single mother sponsor her child in Dubai?’ Yes, a single or divorced mother can sponsor the UAE residence visa for children.

If a woman is divorced and has full custody of the child with the father’s visitation rights, she needs to provide additional documents such as the divorce certificate and/or custody certificate along with the other requirements for the mother sponsoring a child in Dubai. Divorced mothers can sponsor kids in Dubai after the due process.

The process includes attestation of all documents from the UAE Embassy in the home country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. All documents have to be translated into Arabic (legal translation).

Documents required to sponsor a child in Dubai by the mother

When the mother is the sponsor, a child’s UAE residence visa requirements are slightly different. Here are some of the documents for sponsoring a child in Dubai in 2022:

  • The salary certificate (if the sponsor works in a free zone or government sector) or labour contract (if the sponsor works in the private sector)
  • Ejari Tenancy contract or proof of property ownership
  • IBAN number
  • Original Emirates ID of the sponsor
  • Passport copies of the sponsor and sponsored child
  • Photo of the sponsored child (passport size against a white background)
  • Birth certificate of the sponsored child (attested and Arabic translation)
  • In case of divorced single mother: Divorce deed/certificate with related documents (attested by UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation)
  • Marriage certificate of the sponsor (attested by UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation)
  • Certified no-objection letter from the husband (for married women)

Apart from the aforementioned documents, the applicant is also required to submit an original bank statement of the last three months duly stamped by the bank to where the salary is credited. However, this rule applies to women who aren’t working as a nurse, doctor, engineer or a teacher.

Please note that the no-objection letter from the father in the case of a divorcee mother is one of the most important requirements for a wife sponsoring a child in Dubai. In its absence, the father may request a travel ban on the kids.

What are the applicable costs when the mother sponsors a child in Dubai?

When sponsoring a child in Dubai, mothers will have to pay the applicable fees for the entry permit, visa stamping and Emirates ID. Take a look below at the UAE residence visa fees for children.

Step-by-Step Procedure in Acquiring a Visa for Your Child

How to apply for a uae residence visa for your child / children.

In a regular scenario, it is the father (head of the family) who is ideally the one to sponsor the child in the country. But there may be certain cases wherein a mother may need to sponsor the child such as when the father has lost his job.

A parent residing in the UAE can sponsor her children who are below 18 years old and not married. This does not include university or college students, unless a certificate proving that they are below 18 and not married is submitted.

Requirements/Qualifications In any case, a mother who wants to sponsor her child in the country must meet the following conditions / requirements:

  • Valid employment visa
  • Monthly salary of at least AED 4,000 or AED 3,000 plus accommodation allowance from her company (NOTE: Nurses and teachers who want to sponsor their children are exempted from the salary qualification.)
  • Birth certificate of the child attested by the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE
  • Marriage certificate attested by the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) in Arabic from the husband regarding the mother’s petition to sponsor their child. If the husband is not in the UAE, the NOC must be attested by the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE. (NOTE: If the NOC is not written in Arabic, it should be translated into Arabic).
  • If the husband is in the UAE, his labour contract must be attached to the application.
  • Tenancy contract or accommodation rental agreement attested through the Ejari online system of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA)
  • University degree attested by the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE (if the mother is not a doctor, engineer, nurse, or teacher)
  • Bank statement for the last three months (if the mother is not a doctor, engineer, nurse, or teacher).

Conditions for specific cases:

  • A divorced mother needs to submit a child custody verdict from a court. This should be attested by the UAE Embassy in the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE
  • A single mother needs to submit a child custody verdict from a court, a certificate from a local authority, or an affidavit from the Philippine Consulate. Certificates issued in the Philippines must be attested by the UAE Embassy there and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.

Documents for Visa Sponsorship

In addition to the above conditions / requirements, the sponsor or applicant needs to submit the following:

  • International Bank Account Number (IBAN) of the sponsor

1. Fill out an Application Form at the nearest Typing Center.

3. Apply for a medical exam at the Typing Center. You will be given documents to present to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) clinic for the test. Medical results are often finished after two working days.

4. After getting the medical results, go to the Typing Center to change the status of the visa from “temporary residence visa” to “permanent residence visa.”

5. Apply for an Emirates ID for your child at the Typing Center.

Visitors to the UAE can now come to the country on a three-month visa, Khaleej Times can reveal.

A call centre executive at the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) said that people who want to visit the UAE for 90 days can make use of the opportunity. “They should consult their travel agents who will help them in issuing the 90-days visit visa,” said the call centre executive.

According to industry experts, this visa was introduced by the end of May 2023, allowing visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days. The visa can be extendable within the country at an additional cost based on the service provider.

Residents are not aware of this three-month visa, Libin Varghese, sales director at Rooh Tourism LLC, said.

According to industry experts, this was reintroduced by the end of May 2023, allowing visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days.

Different types of entry permits

“There are two types of entry permits — a tourist visa or a leisure visa and a visit visa. A tourist visa is issued for 30 or 60 days. The visit visa is issued for 90 days,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager for inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide, adding that this extended visit visa complements the existing tourist visa options, which includes a 30-day or 60-day stay, offering travellers greater flexibility in planning their itineraries.

The 30-day and the recently introduced 60-day tourist visas have long been popular among visitors seeking shorter stays in the UAE, providing ample time to explore the country's iconic landmarks and indulge in world-class shopping and dining experiences.

Who can apply?

Industry experts said that anyone can apply for this visa. “Currently, we have not received much inquiry about it, and visitors who prefer this entry permit are their family members residing in the UAE, as they want to spend a longer time. Take for instance, if a child who is studying in his home country visits UAE during vacations or parents of a resident,” said Varghese.

The fee for a 90-day-visit visa varies depending on your issuing travel expert, with a starting price of Dh1,500 and can go up to Dh2,000, which can even be extended within the country. “The exact details of extension has not been announced as the visa was introduced a few days ago,” said Varghese.

Documents required

According to Subair, one must submit the following documents if planning to apply for the long term visit visa:

  • Recent passport-size coloured photograph
  • Passport copy
  • Processing time

“Once a person applies for this visa, it may take up to five working days. But we can even receive it in two days,” said Subair.
