OnlyFans model flashes Dublin-New York portal leading to temporary shutdown

"I thought the people of Dublin deserved to see my two New York homegrown potatoes," the model said.

A 24/7 livestream between Dublin and New York was temporarily switched off after videos went viral showing flashing, swearing and people showing images of the Twin Towers burning on 9/11.

Since being activated on 8 May, videos have been shared on social media of people using the video livestream in ways not intended by the designers or local authorities behind the project.

OnlyFans model Ava Louise posted a video of herself lifting up her top and showing her breasts to the portal with her naked back facing the New York City crowd.

"I thought the people of Dublin deserved to see my two New York homegrown potatoes," Louise said.

The stream appeared to shutdown after Louise was caught flashing Dublin.

In another video, a man held up his phone to the screen, showing a video of the World Trade Center towers burning and billowing with black smoke during the 9/11 attack.

Another video showed a woman being dragged away from the portal by police after grinding against the screen.

"Basically she was there for about 20 minutes very drunk and was slapping and grinding against the portal before guards stepped in," the person who filmed it explained.

Dublin City Council says it is working on 'technical solutions' to address 'inappropriate behaviour'.

Why have Dublin and New York set up a 'portal'?

“We are delighted to connect Dublin with New York which we share a deep historical and cultural bond with,” says Lord Mayor of Dublin, Daithí de Róiste, after the portal launched to a crowd of hundreds of people in Dublin on 8 May.

“From July the Dublin Portal will also connect to other global city destinations in Poland, Brazil and Lithuania.”

The main idea behind the portal is connection. It was given the green light in Dublin as part of the city’s recent designation as European City of Smart Tourism 2024.

“Portals are an invitation to meet people above borders and differences and to experience our world as it really is—united and one,” says Benediktas Gylys, a Lithuanian artist who invented the Portal.

The portal has proved popular with Dublin locals, with crowds gathering to check out what’s happening across the ocean.

In one clip shared on social media, a Dubliner can be seen trying to communicate his phone number to a special someone on the other side in New York.

And another one doing the rounds showed a girl in New York calling a guy in Dublin after connecting through the portal.

A video was also circulating of the police physically removing someone who was standing in front of the portal.

In a more heartwarming scene, an Irish university shared a picture of one of its American students linking up with their mom in New York through the portal camera.

In a statement to Euronews Travel the team behind the portals responded to these creative scenes: "We are overwhelmed by the reactions, which are vastly positive. We are not trying to suggest any particular way in how people should interact with the Portals or with each other."

It continued: "Instead, Portals are an invitation to meet fellow human beings and for people to draw their own interpretations and feelings. In this sense, we are also just observers of this event, and it's great to see the amount of creative energy that people have and how powerful human connection can be."

Where can I see the portal?

Running until autumn, visitors and locals can find the portal on Dublin’s O’Connell street, with the iconic GPO building and the Spire as the backdrop.

In New York you can find it on the Flatiron South Public Plaza at Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and 23rd Street, next to the famed Flatiron Building.

Other portals are also installed in Lublin in Poland and Vilnius in Lithuania, according to the maker’s website.

A group of US medical workers trapped at a hospital in Gaza have now left the territory, the White House says.

American doctors providing care in Gaza were unable to leave after Israel closed the Rafah border crossing.

Among them were 10 from the US-based Palestinian American Medical Association, who had intended to leave after a two-week mission at the European Hospital in Khan Younis.

Today, 17 American doctors and healthcare workers, out of a total of 20, left Gaza, White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said.

"I can assure you that any of them that wanted to leave are out," Mr Kirby said. 

Three of the doctors chose not to depart Gaza, a source familiar with the situation said.

The Palestinian American Medical Association reported on Wednesday that its team of 19 healthcare professionals, including 10 Americans, had been denied exit from Gaza

Israel seized and closed the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on 7 May.

The number of people injured by an Israeli airstrike in the West Bank has risen to eight, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

They are in a stable condition and receiving treatment at hospitals, it said.

As we reported in our last post, at least one person has been killed by the attack on Jenin refugee camp.

Residents of the camp said a house was targeted.

Unlike Gaza, such a strike is a rarity in the West Bank, which is run by the Palestinian Authority, not Hamas.

The Israeli military says a fighter jet has carried out a strike in Jenin in the West Bank.

One person was killed and two injured, the Palestinian health ministry said.

While Palestinians live in both Gaza and the West Bank, the territories are controlled by distinct groups.

Hamas has ruled over Gaza since seizing control in 2007 following a brief civil war with the Palestinian Authority.

The West Bank, meanwhile, is still run by the Palestinian Authority, headed by president Mahmoud Abbas.

A three-year-old Palestinian girl with an ultra-rare genetic condition has been forced backwards in her quest to leave Gaza for life-saving treatment.

Julia Abu Zeiter, whose story is being followed by Sky News, was moved with her family from a tent in the southern city of Rafah and relocated to a supposedly safer zone to the north and further away from the border they had hoped to cross.

Speaking to Sky News, her mother Maha said: "We were going through the travel procedures to leave Gaza. When the time for us to travel through Rafah crossing got close, the Israelis occupied the crossing, and they told us they want to invade Rafah."

She added: "I was between two fires, not knowing where to go. Do I go try to travel to treat my daughter or do I flee to another place?"

Israel has assured the US they are willing to continue discussions before making any major decisions on plans to assault Rafah, a US official has said.

White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said national security adviser Jake Sullivan will raise the issue on a visit to Israel to meet Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mr Sullivan will stress the need to go after Hamas in a targeted way, not with a full-scale assault on the southern city, Mr Kirby said.

He said it was important that the Rafah crossing was opened immediately.

The Israeli military seized control of the crossing between  Gaza and Egypt earlier this month.

Hamas says the US-built aid pier off Gaza's coast is no alternative to opening all land crossings under Palestinian supervision.

It added that they reject any military presence on Palestinian land.

Trucks carrying aid rolled across the pier today for the first time in an operation the US says will scale up to 150 truckloads a day.

But Gaza is already on the brink of famine, according to international aid organisations.

Aid groups also say land crossings are much more effective, and at least 500 trucks a day are required to meet the basic needs of the population.

Israeli restrictions on border crossings and heavy fighting have hindered the delivery of food and other supplies.

An investigation has been launched after a 450kg bomb fell from an Israeli fighter jet into an Israeli town this morning, according to reports.

Images showed the munition landed close to homes in Yated.

The Israeli military said it was intended for Rafah and described the incident as "unusual", reported the Times of Israel.

"Air Force technical teams arrived at the scene and began an in-depth investigation of the incident."

The Rafah strike was carried out moments later, the military said.

Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed at least five people including Lebanese militants, Hamas fighters and Syrian civilians, security sources told Reuters.

A series of strikes on a coastal town further north than the usual conflict area killed a Hezbollah member as well as two Syrian civilians, the security sources said.

They said a separate Israeli strike on Majdal Anjar, on Lebanon's eastern border with Syria, killed two Hamas fighters.

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging fire across Lebanon's southern border for seven months in parallel with the Gaza war, but it has ramped up in recent days.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

The recovery of the bodies of three hostages from Gaza is a "painful reminder" of those who are still in captivity, says a member of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Professor Hagai Levine said over the last day, rumours circulating about which bodies had been returned to Israel were "very painful for the families" of all the captives.

It was important to bring home the bodies of hostages to give their families closure, he said.

"We do not lose hope. We are preparing for the return of the hostages that are alive," he said.

"As long as we promote a solution to release the hostages, it will also help to prevent further bloodshed in Gaza."

Turning to the approach the Israeli government has taken, Mr Levine said the government "is not representing well the desires of the public".

"There is a majority in Israel that believe that we should now promote regional agreements and together with the moderate countries, not the extremists, we should kick out Hamas... and replace them with another kind of government.

"This could really bring peace and prosperity to the Palestinians and to Israelis and to the entire region and we feel that the government is not doing enough."

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is open for the season, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maine Days are May 31 to June 2, when anyone with a Maine driver’s license or state ID gets in for free. With more than 300 acres of gardens and natural spaces, including a waterfall, there will be plenty to see, smell and bask in the scenery.

Viles Arboretum is a botanical garden in Augusta with 6 miles of trails and more than 20 botanical collections. It’s open daily from sunrise to sunset, and admission is free. There are 224 acres with all sorts of flora and fauna to discover. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the visitor center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Viles Arboretum offers medicinal plant walks, and although the May 18 session is full, you can still register for the June 15 and Sept. 14 events, lead by herbalist, homeopath and flower essence practitioner Debra Bluth. Tickets are $25. Advertisement

Woman and 3 children killed in North Texas head-on crash between SUV, tractor-trailer

A woman, two Chico Elementary School students and a toddler were killed in Wise County early Tuesday morning when their SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer, investigators said.

According to a preliminary investigation report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound and the SUV was traveling westbound on Farm Road 1810 about 5:30 a.m. near County Road 1340. The SUV was attempting to pass in a no-passing zone when it hit the tractor-trailer. The accident caused the SUV to catch fire.

The four occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, a DPS spokesperson said.

The people who were killed were identified by the DPS as 32-year-old Brandy Nicole Price, 3-year-old Avery Mullins, 8-year-old Gracie Mullins, and 10-year-old Skyla Price. They were all in the SUV, a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox.

The 3-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.

Chico school district Superintendent Randy Brawner wrote in a message to the district’s families that two of the children who died were Chico Elementary students .

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of two Chico Elementary students,” Brawner wrote in the message shared on Facebook. “Such a sudden loss of a classmate can have a profound effect on students even if they are not in the same class. It would not be unusual for students to behave or express themselves differently during the next few weeks.”

Counselors were on campus Tuesday to support Chico ISD students and staff members and will continue to be available as needed, the superintendent said.

Funeral arrangements are pending, according to the school district.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

FM 1810 was closed to traffic for several hours on Tuesday morning, the Wise County Messenger reported.

Residents told the Star-Telegram that FM 1810 is known for being a dangerous road.

Kim Milburne, a Chico resident since 2003, says there have been plenty of wrecks, including fatalities on FM 1810.

“I think a lot of it is people trying to pass when there shouldn’t be passing,” Milburne said.

FM 1655, which meets FM 1810 in Chico, is also known for car accidents, according to Milburne. “It’s just a lot of not paying attention.”

Residents also commonly see trucks or 18-wheelers in crashes, but Milburne says the time it takes for trucks to react is different from other local drivers.

“A lot of people blame it on them, but it’s not always their fault,” Milburne said. The trucks are commonly seen in Chico due to the numerous rock quarries in the area.

Brandy Sides has also often seen 18-wheelers in the area. According to Sides, accidents have also happened when materials fall from trailers and the truck drivers do not stop.

Although Todd Blair has only lived in Chico for a year, he said he has witnessed reckless driving from 18-wheelers.

“There’s a bunch of them and they’re in a hurry,” Blair said. “They get paid by the load and so they pull out in front of you and it’s a scary place.”
