CRUISE SCHEDULE

Established in 1998, the Nauti-Cat has brought enjoyment to many all over the world. Taking everyone from old salts to first-timers, you find yourself relaxed and realizing why you’re on vacation — to be here on the water in West Grand Traverse Bay. Cruises range from 1.5 to 2.5 hours long, depending on the time of day.

I had called to make the reservation and they were very friendly and easy to work with to set up our preferred day and time. Captain John was great – fun, informative, accommodating and very skilled in boating. He gave us a tour of the bay (loved the tiki bar stop!) and then took us to Power Island at our request so we could sit at a picnic table to enjoy the bottle of wine and snacks we brought with us. The pontoon boat was very comfortable – lots of room for the 4 of us. Captain Tom Gorsline personally sails every cruise and strives to provide your private party with an exceptional sailing experience on the crystal clear waters of Grand Traverse West Bay and VIP excursions to nearby, locally famous, Power Island to swim, float on an inflatable pad, or paddle on a SUP.  Captain Tom encourages everyone to feel free to take the helm and learn to sail and have fun on his cruises!  All Cruises will meet, depart, and return to the safe, and accessible boarding dock at Elmwood Marina 12935 S West Bay Shore Drive. Captain Tom Gorsline

Captain Tom is a licensed U.S.C.G. Master Captain with an Auxiliary Sailing Endorsement.   He has over 26 years of sailing experience on the Chesapeake Bay and on the Great Lakes and Grand Traverse West Bay.  Tom, along with his wife, Teri, owns BAYLIFE a Catalina 34 mkII and they actively sail on West Bay and spend weekends anchored at Power Island. Tom and Teri are the owners and publishers of BAYLIFE Magazine of Traverse City and are also members of the Grand Traverse Yacht Club, the hub of the vibrant sailing community of Traverse City.  

VIP Cruise Offerings

We excel in exceeding your expectations and all private cruises can be customized for a VIP treatment for romantic sunset cruises, anniversary, birthdays, bridal parties and special occasions.  We furnish a BBQ grill, dining plates, beverage glasses and flatware, to ensure an enjoyable and memorable dining experience for your private party. "Fun Water Toys" for your Power Island Adventure include a floating inflatable pad and a stand up paddle boards or simply layback, read a book and chill!

BAYLIFE is a beautiful and spacious Catalina 34 MKII sailboat that features a large and comfortable seating area and walkthrough transom to access the swim deck and ladder to access the water for swimming.  The lower interior galley and salon provides privacy and spacious room to get out of the sun or private space for relaxing or changing into swim wear.  The onboard restroom (head) features a electric flushing toilet for convince and comfort. 

2-Hour Private Day Cruise on Grand Traverse West Bay - Only $299, price includes private sail for 2 guests, each additional guest add $50 up to 6 guest total.  Bookings available everyday(Monday thru Sunday)  Day Cruise 1 pm -3 pm, 4 pm -6 pm. 

 2-Hour Private Sunset Cruise on Grand Traverse West Bay - Only $325, price includes private sail for 2 guests, each additional guest add $50 up to 6 guest total. Bookings available every evening (Monday thru Sunday) 6:30pm to 8:30pm.   

5-Hour Private Cruise to Power Island - Only $699 for up to 6 passengers of all ages. Bookings available everyday sailing from 1 pm - 5 pm (Limited to 6 passengers total) An earlier 11:00 am departure time can be arranged with Captain Tom if available.

Come sail on Second Wind and enjoy a beautiful Private adventure on Grand Traverse Bay. We will set sail from the marina and travel at an average speed of 5-6 knots depending on the wind conditions. You can enjoy the view from the bow of Wind or experience the thrill of sailing by taking the helm with guidance from your captain. Comfortable shaded seating is provided in the cockpit. Water and light snacks are provided but you are always welcome to bring your favorites.We request no red wine. Special occasions are always a great opportunity for a memorable experience! We have been honored to host proposals, birthday surprises and special anniversaries!

Grand Traverse Bay

Grand Traverse Bay is a beautiful body of fresh water. It offers 320 square miles of adventure and at it’s deepest point measures over 600 feet. Sails going up

Our sunset cruise was absolutely fantastic. The ship, the crew, and even our fellow passengers were all lovely. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip. We especially loved that the drinks, snacks, and dinner were all made with local products. The crew kept the wine, cocktails, and beer refills coming and were all super friendly and helpful.

A beautiful night to sail on Lake Michigan.

My husband and I and another couple rented the pontoon for 3 hours and had an awesome time! I had called to make the reservation and they were very friendly and easy to work with to set up our preferred day and time. Captain John was great - fun, informative, accommodating and very skilled in boating. He gave us a tour of the bay (loved the tiki bar stop!) and then took us to Power Island at our request so we could sit at a picnic table to enjoy the bottle of wine and snacks we brought with us. The pontoon boat was very comfortable - lots of room for the 4 of us. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hours and will definitely be requesting another boat trip with Captain John the next time we are in Traverse City during the summer!

Had a great sunset sailboat ride last night! Captain Dan, First Mate John, and Hospitality Guru Charlie were wonderful! The boxed dinner and drinks, locally sourced, were an added bonus! I highly recommend this!

Enjoyed the e bike tour. Tree was our guide. Fun time. Tree shared some area history and geology on the way. Easy and beautiful ride. Nice snacks and delicious lunch at the end. We used the bikes to visit a few wineries on the way home. Great day. I'm recommending to friends and I'll be back next summer. Great job and thanks Tree.

There's nothing like a beautiful sunset cruise on Wind Dancer. The farm to table food, local wine and friendly service from the crew was perfect! We loved all the historical info about Traverse City from the Captain. Thanks for a wonderful sail!

First off, I wouldn't change a thing on the sunset cruise. Three hours and we were lucky enough to have perfect weather on a beautiful evening. The crew Dan, Audrey and Jonathon were great. Friendly, knowledgeable and fun. They were very attentive to all the guests. The food is purposely all local. And delicious. The owner had greeted us and gave us an introduction to the evening. She explained how they strive to decrease their waste and work to support small businesses around the area. Our meal came in a reusable beno box filled with a wonderful sandwich on the most delicious bread, mixed salad and veggies that were so fresh. Blackberries and a blushing plum filled a bin along with a crunchy sesame seed nutty snack mix. A piece of chocolate fudge finished the meal. The food was presented so beautifully with edible flowers among the fruit and snacks. Drinks were offered throughout the cruise. Such a relaxing evening sailing around the bays!

Took my wife on a sailboat for our Anniversary! It was an amazing trip from top to bottom. Great crew that went the extra mile to give us good historical information about the boat, the bay and all the local food they served on the boat. We had all the drinks we wanted and a great selection of foods from around Northern Michigan! It was an extremely memorable trip and we'd do it again! Thank you Wind Dancer for such a great experience!

Really fun boat to sail around the bay. They served us local food and drinks. It's a good size boat because you can move around and check out different areas of the boat. The captain was awesome!
