Madikeri Fort
Kodagu (Coorg) Region
There are good views from this hilltop fort, built by Tipu Sultan in the 16th century, though today it’s the less glamorous site of the municipal headquarters. You can walk a short section of ramparts, and within the fort’s walls are the hexagonal palace (now the dusty district-commissioner’s office) and a colonial-era church, which houses a quirky museum .
