2022 has seen Duran Duran celebrate a landmark year. The band have just been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, a career peak that follows a summer live season of epic proportions - headlining London’s Hyde Park, performing at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace, closing the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in their home town of Birmingham, a headline tour across North America which included sold out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl, and the cinematic release of new docu-concert film, ‘A Hollywood High’. All this after the huge success of new studio album FUTURE PAST, hailed as Duran Duran at their best by critics and fans alike, four decades into their rich and storied career.

Simon Le Bon said: “2022 has been an extraordinary year for Duran Duran - mainly down to the incredible fans we have around the world. In July we celebrated our years together at Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time Festival. Next Spring we will be back on home soil once again to continue the party. It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, still able to introduce the sound of DD to new generations of music lovers. We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago."

The three-day music event is scheduled to take place over the May bank holiday weekend from April 29 to May 2 in 2022 - it is part of the Ibiza Music Summit.

The events are part of Duran Duran’s 40th anniversary celebrations - the group first marked their four decades in music with the release of a new album titled Future Past earlier this year.

Singer Simon Le Bon described the upcoming event in Ibiza as an “extraordinary experience” and recalled Duran Duran’s “tremendous love” for Ibiza.

“Touch The Sunrise is going to be an extraordinary experience – and something we’ve never done before,” he explained.

“Everyone in the band has a tremendous love for the island and over the years I have personally spent many summers there with friends and family – so it’s become somewhat of a home away from home for us.”

He continued: “People often think of Ibiza as just a party island – which of course it can be – but there’s a side to it that we really hope our fans get to explore while they are there, that’s about the natural beauty of the place, the incredible food and the warmth of the people who live there year-round.”

Duran Duran’s full list of shows for 2022 is below:

02 – Ushuaïa, Ibiza, Spain (as part of Duran Duran: Touch the Sunrise experience)

80s icons Duran Duran will be back for their 2023 headlining tour around the UK and Ireland.

The Ordinary World hit-makers will hit the stage for their five-date Future Past arena tour, kicking off in Manchester in April, before arriving in London, Leeds, Birmingham and Dublin.

Sharing a statement announcing the news, frontman Simon Le Bon said: “2022 has been an extraordinary year for Duran Duran – mainly down to the incredible fans we have around the world. In July we celebrated our years together at Hyde Park as part of the British Summer Time Festival.

“Next Spring we will be back on home soil once again to continue the party. It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, still able to introduce the sound of DD to new generations of music lovers.

“We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago.”

The 75-minute documentary was shot in the heart of Hollywood at the exclusive members-only Aster hotel, overlooking the building of their original US record label, Capitol Records.

Featuring interviews and vintage footage, the feature captures the love affair between  the band and the City of Angels, chronicling their rise to music royalty, being honoured with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 1993 and gaining heartthrob status.

The tour news comes just shortly after guitarist Andy Taylor revealed he has stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer, causing him to miss out on the band’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.

The group read out an emotional letter penned by the star explaining his absence and why he was unable to attend the swanky ceremony due to ongoing treatment and 'a setback' which prevented him from flying from his home in Ibiza to the event in Los Angeles.

Lets face it Duran Duran has built a huge part of their fame around their stylish sensibilities; but they would be no where near the band they are today if it was not matched by their music. It is the marrying of these two factors, which make Duran Duran one of the biggest pop bands of all time and one of the most fun acts to see live. Who would have thought that merging the decadent disco scene saturated by the yuppie culture and the "no-foolery" stripped down sound of punk would have worked. More importantly - is such a thing even possible?! Duran Duran is proof of its success. Fueled by the inspiration of the fervency and straightforward delivery of the Sex Pistols and the pure sheen and intricacy of Chic, Duran Duran developed a sound that was a constant contradiction, but nevertheless daring and undeniably fresh.

At a Duran Duran concert you can catch elements of this dichotic nature. John Taylor might be storming down the stage with utter fierceness, but a moment later might be playing a verbose funk bass riff. Duran Duran is a group that is uninhibited in nature, which of course makes for a highly entertaining show. When I saw them at Chastain Park in Atlanta, Simon Lebon was dancing around in a sequent shirt singing a Lady Gaga song. The crowd was eating it up. At the same show they were cranking up their most recent hit "All You Need Is Now" accompanied by an artistically tasteful but macabre video. The song starts out like a Nine Inch Nails track but ascends into a upbeat pop tune.

During a Duran Duran show you can find yourself singing and dancing along to hits like "Rio" and "The Reflex," but also find yourself spooked out by their darker tracks like "The Chauffeur" and "Nightboat" a song which Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has performed with them on one of their tours.

“Hungry Like a Wolf” saw the two-toned Le Bon joined center-stage by Dom Brown and John Taylor, flanked by the angelic voices of Ross and Wagner. I hadn’t seen the band since the ’95 (when they were performing a bunch of covers), so to be able to witness that classic up close and personal was a real treat. I was in the 9th row, so I’m not sure if the sound was able to compete with the wind up top, but it was pure perfection up front. The core members of the band were all as tight and on-point as anyone could have asked, and the although the saxophone player stayed in the shadows, his contribution could be felt as well as heard. “Oh Red Rocks!’ Le Bon seemed truly in awe as he started snapping his fingers to the James Bond theme before performing the appropriate “A View to a Kill”, but it wasn’t until the intro to the next song that he made his feelings known. “Look at this place! This is beautiful! This is like playing inside what’s left of an ancient alien spaceship. I like it. Lets get all of you singing now!” The deafening sound of thousands of people (kinda) in sync (“da na na na”) overpowered Le Bon as Roger and Rhodes set the controls for 1983 with “The Reflex”. The guys might not be the kids they once were, but they didn’t seem to have any problem with the altitude as they cranked things up a notch to compete with the decibel level of their fans. - See more at: http://ilistensoyoudonthaveto.com/2015/09/21/duran-duran-chic-red-rocks-09-20-15/#sthash.yMope03v.dpuf

I've seen Duran Duran nine times over the course of the last 23 years. The band understands how to put on a show that not only entertains but also impresses. Stage presence, glitz, glamor, pretentious weirdness... it's all there. Not to mention extraordinary musicianship. You can't please everyone with your setlist when you have as many hits as this band does. So, inevitably, those hardcore fans hoping for a smattering of deep cuts will be somewhat disappointed this go round. The last tour in support of All You Need Is Now managed to mix in hits with albums cuts as well as a few surprises, but this tour is leaning heavily on the hits with new songs off Paper Gods carefully interspersed so as not to interrupt the flow. The new stuff works well with the classics. Casual fans might not even know the difference. The Bowie tribute during the breakdown for "Planet Earth" is heartfelt and appropriate. How these guys have managed to buck the aging process so successfully is difficult to process. Simon Le Bon is close to 60 years old and can belt out these songs just as he did 30 years ago. He doesn't cheat on the high notes like a lot of singers his age do. He goes for it every time. It's amazing.

Duran Duran is my ultimate favourite band since 2006. They are the perfect mixture of rock, pop and glamour. Also this band is a great survivor, since they went through the splitting of the band and had band members quit, but still they managed to come back and make music. I need to admit not many bands can keep going for so long as Duran Duran. I attended two shows on the 2012 All you need is now World Tour. One in Vienna, Austria and one in Budapest, Hungary. Both shows had epic openings, and had great setlists. The song selections were a mixture of powerful and fast; and slow emotional songs. The guys sounded better than ever. On stage they are like a band of brothers that live for music and if the audience parties then they party even more. Duran Duran went through many things in their career but with the All you need is now album they showed that they live in the now, they can still make fantastic music and they got rid of the dirt of the past and with renewed power they run towards the future.

Duran Duran were back in Leeds after a 28 years and what a show they gave us. Simon and the gang were all on top of their game and gave 2 hours of solid music.

The lighting and stage set were as spectacular as always and the new screen imagery was a wonder to behold, especially Wild Boys.

The set list has had a bit of a makeover for The Paper God's Tour. Love Voodoo and Too Much Information from the Weddding Album thankfully replacing likes of The Reflex and Is There Something I Should Know? which while popular were getting long in the tooth. In addition they seemed to pick just the right songs from the new album. The highlight for ne being the glorious anthemic What Are The Chances? which had a fantastic Dom Brown prooving the band do not need the third Taylor back.

Duran Duran rocked our little part of the world on Saturday and I think it's fair to say that as an audience we rocked theirs.

No one sits down at a Duran Duran concert.

All around you will be beautiful people of all ages (most of them over 35), sizes, colors, and genders having fun, smiling, dancing!

They are one of the few bands that sound better live than on a polished studio recording. They love and respect music and it shows.

Brilliant energy and an experience of complete peace, joy, and belonging will overcome you at a Duran Duran concert. It feels like a family. No one was a stranger. No one was sad, or angry, or tense. No aggression. No negativity. No drama.

They love their fans as much as their fans love them. The entire concert is one big love-a-thon.

I guarantee this: even if you have never been a fan of the band or their music, if you attend one of their shows that will change. You will be a fan, and one of the family. Welcome.

First of all, the show I saw was Chic, and Duran Duran.

So, Chic played first and was on point: They sounded amazing. They worked through a bunch of hits, and then played hits written by Nile Rogers for other artists - including David Bowie, Diana Ross, Daft Punk, and more. Again, amazing. Well worth the price of admission.

Next, Duran Duran began their show. Definitely promoting the new album, as they played quite a few songs from it. The band is still a bunch of showmen, and they played hit after hit. The band worked in a tribute to David Bowie as well during, 'Planet Earth'. It was also wonderful to have Niles come back on stage and perform with them a song he wrote for Duran Duran.

All and all, a great concert performed in a beautiful Amphitheater, with a kick ass sound system.

I'd see them all again.

In 2015 I saw DD on the 4th and 8th December. I drove from my home in Bristol to Birmingham and watched them. Brilliant. After that gig I drove to London and arrived there early morning on the 5th. I stayed a couple of days and on the 7th December I drove back to Bristol and went to bed early. On the 8th I was up early collected a friend and drove back to London and saw them again. They were even better than they were on the 4th. After the gig in the O2 London I drove home. I got home very early on the 9th December and went to bed but had to look at the 600+ photos and videos I'd taken.

I can't wait for them to come back to the UK and tour again. I will be there at as many nights as I can afford.

Life long Duran Duran fan

What a cracking show. Playing the highlights from Paper Gods, interspersed with a selection of hits from the last 37 years, including some rarities like Love Voodoo.

The highlight for me was the medley "(Reach up for the) Sunrise / New Moon on Monday". Just never really thought of those two tracks together, but it worked really well.

The big screen behind the band was awesome with some fantastic visuals being projected.

All in all, a great evening, even if Lindsay Lohan couldn't remember all her lines from Dancephobia or the chorus to Rio (what has become the defacto encore closer over the last few years).

The show was great! They sounded good, looked good, seemed to be having fun and like each other.

Played all the hits and the new songs I didn't know (sorry, guys!) were really good. We had a great time!

Simon played acoustic guitar for Save A Prayer and threw his pick to the audience after. It landed by my foot in the aisle, but some clown had snuck down to our section and was hiding from security behind me. I was so distracted by this idiot that I didn't see the pick (next to my stupid foot) and the girl behind me got it. Rats! Still fun though!

David Gilmour adds third date to the Luck and Strange tour hitting the Hollywood Bowl

Pink Floyd’s storied guitarist David Gilmour is returning to U.S. stages for the first time in eight years. He announced a special series of North American tour dates earlier this week to promote his upcoming album, “Luck and Strange.” The tour originally included a two-night stay at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 29-30. But due to overwhelming demand, a third show has been added for Thursday, Oct. 31.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will kick off his U.S. gigs in Los Angeles, followed by four dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Nov. 4-6 and Nov. 9. While his U.S. run is brief, Gilmour will also grace European stages with a limited series of performances. The European leg kicks off at Rome’s Circo Massimo on Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 1-3, culminating with shows at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 9-11 and Oct. 14-15.

He will be joined by a live band featuring Guy Pratt, who famously played with Gilmour in Pink Floyd from ’87-’94, on bass and background vocals. The band also includes Greg Phillinganes and Rob Gentry on keyboards, Adam Betts on drums, Ben Worsley on guitar, and Louise Marshall, Hattie Webb, and Charlie Webb on background vocals.

Pratt, Betts, and Gentry are all contributors on the album. “Luck and Strange” is also a family affair, featuring lyrics by Gilmour’s wife, novelist and lyricist Polly Samson, as well as their son Charlie. The album’s title track features a 2007 jam sesh recorded with Pink Floyd’s late keyboardist Richard Wright who died in 2008.

Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Ticketmaster.com . Pre-sale option tickets for the Gilmour Fan Club are on sale now. A Hollywood Bowl pre-sale is now on sale with the code GILMOUR at hollywoodbowl.com.

DURAN DURAN ANNOUNCE LANDMARK REISSUE OF FIRST FIVE STUDIO ALBUMS ON LP AND CD

9th May – Duran Duran have announced the reissue of their first five studio albums - Duran Duran , Rio , Seven and the Ragged Tiger , Notorious , and Big Thing . Long out of print, this exciting reissue marks the first time this iconic collection will be available in the original 1LP and 1CD format, with remastered audio, since their initial release. The albums will be available via Warner Music from 5th July - pre-order here .

Both 1LP and 1CD formats will feature the latest album remasters, with vinyl editions cut at Abbey Road Studios. The album artworks have been closely restored to the original sleeve designs, overseen by Malcolm Garrett, the visionary designer behind the band’s first three albums.

Duran Duran’s first five albums - 1981’s Duran Duran, 1982’s Rio, 1983’s Seven and the Ragged Tiger, 1986’s Notorious, and1988’s Big Thing - have defined the sound and style of generations. Their acclaimed singles like ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’, ‘Rio’, ‘Girls on Film’ and ‘Save a Prayer’ consistently dominated singles charts around the world on their release, and continue to soundtrack the lives of millions of fans. The music and magic within these five records propelled the band to the very front of the global music scene, establishing Duran Duran’s status as cultural icons and one of the most influential groups of all time. Now, 16 studio albums deep into their recording career, and counting, Duran Duran are still performing many of these songs in packed arenas all over the world.

The five albums, which between them graced over 20 Top 10 album charts around the world, provide a rich cross section of Duran Duran's formative years. Here we are reminded anew of their self-titled debut's era-defining boldness. A record that completely solidified the signature sound of Duran Duran, whilst simultaneously soundtracking turn of the decade angst, and introducing a new British pop order. As opener ‘Girls on Film’ presented the first use of "found sound" in music with its instantly recognisable camera motor drive clicks, and the apocalyptic shock of ‘Planet Earth’ took hold, Duran Duran's innovation was signaling what British pop music would do next.

The year between Duran Duran's release and the dawn of the Rio era was shaped by huge artistic growth. The album elevated the band to global status and produced a trio of Top Ten hits in 'Save A Prayer', 'Rio' and 'Hungry Like the Wolf'. The latter two of which birthed some of the first-ever music videos that fans all over the world would fall in love with as MTV launched them into heavy rotation, also helping the band reach super-stardom in the US and beyond.

These achievements set the stage for Seven and the Ragged Tiger , Duran Duran's first UK #1 album. Truly global in its scope - recorded between studios in France, Australia and the Caribbean - the album paved the way for the Sing Blue Silver Tour, their biggest live outing yet, and saw the band’s debut #1 single in the US with ‘The Reflex’.

After their success working with Nile Rodgers to re-imagine ‘The Reflex’, and produce ‘The Wild Boys’ in the same year, Duran Duran turned to him to produce their next LP, Notorious . The band's first outing as a three piece, together they created a definitive Duran Duran album that captured the experimental spirit at the core of the band. Never a group to sit still creatively, Duran Duran expanded to a nine-piece complete with horn section and backing singers for the accompanying tour to the Big Thing album, presenting Duran Duran's most exploratory work to date at that time.

The news of the reissues arrives as Duran Duran look ahead to a big summer of live activity, including an exclusive UK festival headline performance at Latitude Festival on 28th July.

This major festival booking will follow sold-out arena tours across the UK and North America through 2023, the latest in a series of landmark achievements including Duran Duran’s 10th UK Top 5 album release Danse Macabre , headlining London’s Hyde Park , performing at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace , closing the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in their home town of Birmingham, and sold out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden , and three nights at the Hollywood Bowl . All this underpinned by their 2022 induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame , a moment truly cementing the multi- GRAMMY , BRIT Award and Ivor Novello winners as one of the most successful and influential bands of all time.
