The following is a list of episodes, listed in order of their original air date, along with information regarding featured cars that were reviewed and the main feature of the episode; for the second series only, the list also includes the celebrity guests who appeared on the programme. The Grand Tour conducted its studio segments via a travelling tent for the first series only, information pertaining its location is briefly described within the first sentence of the short summary for each listed episode of the respective series.
As of 16 February 2024, [ update ] 45 episodes of The Grand Tour have been released.

Although the series featured celebrities, most appeared in a minor capacity while others were mentioned or involved a look-alike – these appearances mainly were for a running gag involving them heading to meet the presenters in their tent for an interview, only to "die" in a freak accident.

From the second series on, the studio tent was set up at a permanent location in the Cotswolds . In addition, unlike the first series, celebrities were more fully involved in the programme, taking part in a feature involving head-to-head timed laps between two guests in each episode, with the exception of the final episode which was a special.
The third series discontinued the involvement of celebrity guests in order to provide more focus on films, and was the last series of regular episodes with studio segments, car reviews and timed laps. In acknowledgement of this format of the programme being brought to a close, the final episode's last segment included a montage of scenes featuring the presenters over the course of their career as a trio – not only from this programme, but also from their time hosting Top Gear .
After the third series the tent format was eliminated and the programme shifted focus entirely onto occasional feature-length specials. Each episode in the series is marketed with the prefix; The Grand Tour Presents...

The trio then landed at Prime, where they continued their motoring adventures on “The Grand Tour.” In a podcast interview earlier this summer, May reflected on their decades-long journey. “I recorded today the last piece of voice-over I will ever record for ‘The Grand Tour’ – and therefore in that whole legacy of ‘Grand Tour,’ ‘Top Gear’ and the few things I did before that,” he said. “We’ve done it for nearly 22 years – a lot longer than we thought we would. I thought, when I started doing it in 2003 or 2004, that this was a bit of a laugh. Maybe it’ll last a few years. And, here we are, grey and wizened and sagging. And we’ve only just stopped doing it. It’s quite remarkable.”

The Grand Tour Season 2 began in on 8 december 2017 and was aired on the streaming service, Amazon Prime Video alongside the original first Season. Unlike Season 1 which consisted of 13 episodes, Season 2 had only 11 plus a special which is coming later in the year (yet to be aired). There was however one semi-special episode set in Mozambique named, ‘Feed the World’.
There were a number of changes made to Season 2 including:
- A now permanent setting for the tent in Great Tew – five minutes away from Jeremy Clarkson’s house
- Celebrity Face Off, where two celebrities (one from the UK and one USA) go head to head to try and get the fastest lap time in a new Jaguar F-Type. This replaced Celebrity Brain Crash
- Abbie Eaton replaces The American as The Grand Tour’s new driver.
- The theme song was also changed from the previous Season
It consisted of 13 episodes, two of which made one long special episode, and while official viewing figures haven’t been released, Episode 1 quickly became the most popular pilot episode of any series on Amazon.
Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May reprised their roles as presenters after the success of the first Season.

Across five seasons, Clarkson, Hammond and May have travelled to 41 countries in 187 cars, with previous episodes in the final instalment taking them to the Sahara, Scandinavia and Central Europe. On why now felt like the right time to call it a day, Clarkson explained he is simply ‘worn out’ by the demands of the show.
“I’ve done enough of the travel, I was worn out by it,” he said. “I’m too old. It’s a young man’s game.
“The other thing is that if we were to sit down and ask, ‘Where next?’ well, we’ve been everywhere. We’ve done everything you can realistically do with a car and the world has shrunk and that’s the tragedy. The world is a much more troubled place than it was 20 years ago.”

- Edit source
A Massive Hunt (or the Madagascar Special ) is the second episode of Season 4 of The Grand Tour - made up of Specials. It aired on December 17th, 2020, before its "planned" release on December 18th, 2020.
The episode saw the presenters travel across the Reunion Island in three performance pre-production cars before modifying them for a road trip across Madagascar in a massive treasure hunt.
- 3 Production
Synopsis [ ]
The intrepid trio find themselves back on four wheels for their latest adventure. Armed with sports cars, Richard, James and Jeremy think they are in for a cushy road trip as they arrive on the exotic island of Reunion and race on the world’s most expensive piece of tarmac. But a bizarre challenge propels them to Madagascar where they must tackle the world’s toughest road.
Production [ ]
The episode was filmed in November 2019 on the African island nation of Madagascar and on the French overseas territory of Reunion Island.
The special was expected to air in March/April 2020, however producer Andy Wilman, had contracted Coronavirus, having difficulty in breathing and "coughed his spleen out" but was on the road to recovery. The only parts that would be required was voiceovers and final edits which would've been made by Wilman. Due to this outbreak, the special was scheduled for release on 18th December 2020.
However, the trio surprisingly released it a day earlier after a short announcement on YouTube, with the description saying "All those marketing plans… wasted" in a jokingly manner.
- This is the sixth special episode of the entire show.
- This is the third special episode of The Grand Tour to be filmed in Africa, following the show's travels through Mozambique in Season 2 and Namibia in Season 1 .
- This is the first ever special of The Grand Tour, where not all of the cars have finished the journey and the second time for Richard Hammond . Travelling along the RN5 Hammond's Ford suffered a broken clutch on the journey, putting it out of action permanently.

Amazon's “The Grand Tour” will continue with new hosts
- Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May's time on “The Grand Tour” ends Sept. 13
- Amazon will continue the show with new hosts but details are unclear
- The original trio won't regroup to start a new car show, according to Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May's time fronting Amazon Prime's “ The Grand Tour ” comes to an end on Sept. 13 , but the show will live on, Hammond has revealed.
In an interview with Metro published on Sept. 2, Hammond let slip that the show will live on with new hosts.
Amazon Prime itself hasn't announced plans for the show beyond the airing of the final episode later this month.
As for Clarkson, Hammond, and May, the trio won't be regrouping to start a new car show, like they did with The Grand Tour after leaving BBC's “Top Gear” in 2016.
Clarkson in an interview with The Sunday Times published on Sept. 1 said his days of talking about cars on television are over . He specifically mentioned that he's “ too old and fat ” to actually get into the cars he'd like to drive, and as for the cars he can fit into, he said he has no interest in driving them.
The Grand Tour ends with a final episode set in Zimbabwe. Its airing will mark the end of era that goes back to 2003, when Clarkson, Hammond, and May first appeared together on Top Gear .
The Grand Tour has proven to be a hit for Amazon Prime, which led to all three hosts getting standalone shows on the streaming service. The shows include “ Clarkson's Farm ” which provides snippets of Clarkson's life on his farm in the Cotswolds, and which Clarkson plans to continue.
Hammond's show is called “ The Great Escapists ,” and features both him and Tory Belleci as fictionalized versions of themselves. Only a single season was released in 2021. May has the show “ James May: Our Man in… ,” a travel show where May focuses on adventures across a single country per season. A third season was released this year and Amazon Prime hasn't announced the release of a fourth season.
