Seabourn prides itself on offering the crème de la crème of cruise experiences. Its five ships welcome 458 or 600 guests (depending on the ship), and they offer cruisers a bevy of luxurious amenities both inside and outside their suites. Travelers can expect multiple dining options (both fine and casual), stimulating onboard activities and a variety of excursions available before, during and after the cruise.

Seabourn sails all over the world, visiting popular cruising destinations like Alaska, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, as well as more far-flung destinations in Australia, Asia and the Arctic. In 2024, itineraries range from six to 145 days.

No matter which itinerary you choose, you'll be treated to ocean views galore, whether it's from the comfort of your suite (all cabins feature sea views), while working up a sweat in the fitness center or as you indulge in a treatment at the spa and salon. Ships also offer casinos, pools, nine-hole putting courses and live music venues.

Additionally, passengers can take advantage of Seabourn's fine dining experiences, many of which feature menus crafted by Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller. Seabourn holds a high guest-to-staff ratio.

Seabourn Club cruise loyalty program: Everything you need to know

Gene Sloan

Staying loyal to Seabourn brings some big rewards.

The luxury cruise line has one of the most generous frequent cruiser programs of any brand, offering its most loyal passengers such truly stellar perks as free cruises upon hitting certain milestones.

Dubbed the Seabourn Club, the six-tier loyalty program also rewards frequent cruisers with discounts on cruises, shore excursions and premium wines, and it offers such alluring freebies as complimentary massages at onboard spas. The more you sail, the more you get.

The Seabourn Club loyalty program is particularly notable when compared to the loyalty programs of many rival luxury lines. Typically, luxury lines (and other small cruise lines) have relatively modest loyalty programs, if they have a loyalty program at all. Many luxury lines have a loyalty program with just one tier. So a six-tier program with a robust array of perks for a line such as Seabourn is impressive.

Ways to earn

The Seabourn Club point-earning system is relatively straightforward. In most cases, members earn one point for every day they sail on a Seabourn vessel. The only exception is for passengers staying in top penthouse and premium suite accommodations, who earn two points for every day they sail. In addition, members earn one point for every night they are on one of the line's pre- or post-cruise land-based excursions known as Seabourn Journeys.

There is also one final, bonus way to earn points. Members will get one additional point for every $500 they spend on onboard or pre-cruise online purchases for things like spa treatments. The number of extra points that members can earn this way is limited to one for every day they sail.

Program tiers and benefits

There are six tiers to the Seabourn Club program:

  • Member (1 to 19 points)
  • Silver Member (20 to 69 points)
  • Gold Member (70 to 139 points)
  • Platinum Member (140 to 249 points)
  • Diamond Member (250 to 649 points)
  • Diamond Elite Member (650-plus points)

Typically, lower tiers of cruise line loyalty programs offer few valuable rewards. However, the Seabourn Club loyalty program brings one great perk for all members right from its very first tier: a 5% discount on cruises booked on board a ship. Given that many Seabourn accommodations can cost $1,000 a day or more, this is a perk that can save you hundreds of dollars even on a relatively short cruise.

The Seabourn Club's initial tier, the Member tier, also brings special savings on select voyages, advance communication of special offers and invitations to special events and receptions on board ships, plus a few more minor things.

Related: A beginner's guide to picking a cruise line

seabourn cruises booked guests

The valuable perks just get better from there. Upon reaching the Silver Member tier, members will get the choice of one of the following perks on every sailing:

  • A 10% discount on shore excursions
  • A 10% discount on premium wine and spirits
  • A complimentary, two-hour internet package
  • 20 minutes of complimentary telephone calls
  • A complimentary Signature massage
  • A complimentary day in the Spa Serene area
  • A complimentary bag of laundry

Upon reaching the Gold Member and Platinum Member tiers of the program, members get two or three of the above perks, respectively — and some of the perks are enhanced. The savings on premium wines and spirits jump to 15% and 20%, respectively, at the Gold and Platinum level, for instance. The shore excursion discount rises to 15% at the Platinum tier.

At higher tiers, the telephone minute allowances also increase, as does the complimentary internet package allowance.

At the Platinum level, members get access to a dedicated Seabourn Club concierge in advance of their sailing who can help with arrangements. They also get a 15% discount on luggage shipping services (Gold members get a shipping services discount of 10%).

Reaching the first few tiers of the program isn't all that difficult. It takes just one cruise to reach the initial Member tier. Reaching the Silver Member and Gold Member tiers would take just a handful of cruises if you do a few longer cruises or stay in top suites.

Related: A beginner's guide to cruise line loyalty programs

With a requirement of 140 points, the Platinum tier of the Seabourn Club loyalty program is a bit harder to reach. It would take 20 seven-night cruises to reach Platinum, assuming you spend no extra money on your sailing (to get those bonus points) and don't stay in top suites.

That said, many Seabourn cruisers gravitate to voyages that are longer than just seven nights. If, like many Seabourn cruisers, you book a mix of sailings that are 10 to 20 days or more and spend a modest amount on board for extras, you could hit the Platinum tier in fewer than 10 cruises even without staying in top suites.

The elite level that makes a difference

We are big fans of the Seabourn Club at all its tier levels. This is a very solid cruise loyalty program. However, the tier level that really starts knocking it out of the park is the Diamond Member level.

At the Diamond Member level, members get all the perk choices on every cruise, and in many cases, the perks are even further enhanced. Plus, there are a couple of all-new perks at the Diamond Member level. Specifically, Diamond members will receive:

  • A 15% discount on shore excursions
  • A 25% discount on premium wine and spirits
  • Unlimited, complimentary internet
  • 40 minutes of complimentary telephone calling
  • Complimentary laundry and pressing
  • Daily delivery of your preferred newspaper
  • Priority embarkation

In addition, Diamond members get access to a dedicated Seabourn Club concierge in advance of their sailing who can help with arrangements and a 20% discount on luggage shipping services.

The breadth of all the above is one reason we give high marks to the Seabourn loyalty program.

Related: The best credit cards for booking cruises

seabourn cruises booked guests

The only downside of the Diamond Member level of the Seabourn Club loyalty program is that it can take quite some time for a member to attain it. With a requirement of 250 points, the Diamond tier is a level that would take 36 seven-night cruises to reach, assuming you spend no extra money on your sailings (to get those bonus points) and don't stay in top suites.

That said, as noted above, many Seabourn cruisers opt for longer sailings, and with some extra onboard spending thrown in (which will get you those bonus points) and a few stays in suites, you could reach Diamond level after far fewer voyages.

Best elite perk

The very best elite perk that Seabourn offers its Seabourn Club members, by far, are the free cruises that come with achieving certain milestones in total number of days sailed with the line (more on that in a moment). It's not something that is a part of the tier system that we have been discussing above, and it is such a huge reward offer that it deserves its own section.

As for the best elite perk within the Seabourn Club's regular tier structure, we are partial to the disembarkation/embarkation transfer to and from the ship that comes with the program's top Diamond Elite Member tier. As long as you are within a 50-mile limit, the line will send a car to pick you up and bring you to your ship and then take you from your ship to wherever you are going at the end of a cruise. What a nice touch.

At the Diamond Elite Member level, members also get a $100 spa credit every time they sail, complimentary dry cleaning and a few other perks in addition to all the rewards that come with Diamond Member-level status.

Related: Inside the most expensive luxury ship ever

Just be warned that reaching Diamond Elite Member status takes a lot of cruising with the line. With a requirement of 650 points, it would take you 93 seven-night sailings to reach Diamond Elite Member status, assuming you don't spend much on board when sailing and don't book top suites.

Note that, as is often the case with cruise line loyalty programs, Seabourn customers do not have to requalify for status each year. Seabourn Club members keep their points at the end of each year and continue to accrue points indefinitely. That means that someone who hits Diamond Elite Member status will remain at that top tier level forever (or until Seabourn makes a change to the program).

Such "forever status" is one of the great allures of cruise line frequent cruiser programs. Many airline frequent flyer programs, by contrast, require loyalty members to requalify for status each year.

Milestone Cruise Awards

In addition to all the perks of the six-tier loyalty program discussed above, Seabourn rewards its most loyal passengers with what it calls Milestone Cruise Awards. These are free cruises that the line offers members for every 140 to 250 days they sail with the line.

This is how it works: For each day you sail on a Seabourn ship, you will earn one "sailed day" with Seabourn, and the line will keep track of these in your account. Once your account reaches 140 sailed days, you can redeem them for a complimentary cruise of up to seven days. Alternatively, you can continue to accrue sailed days until you reach 250 and redeem them for a complimentary cruise of up to 14 days.

Once you redeem sailed days for a complimentary cruise, they are removed from your account. However, you can continue accruing more sailed days toward another free cruise in the future.

Seabourn is one of just a handful of cruise lines that offers free cruises to its most loyal customers. Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line are two others.

In addition to free cruises, Seabourn's Milestone Awards program also brings recognition in one other very classy way. As Seabourn regulars hit various milestones in total days sailed, they are recognized at a special onboard event with a gift from Tiffany & Co.

The onboard recognition comes at the following milestones:

  • 100 sailed days
  • 200 sailed days
  • 500 sailed days
  • 1,000 sailed days
  • 1,500 sailed days
  • 2,000 sailed days
  • 2,500 sailed days

Bottom line

Seabourn treats its most loyal customers right. The more you sail with the line, the more you will be rewarded with truly valuable perks.

There is no cruise perk that we can think of that is more valuable than a free cruise, and Seabourn hands out free cruises to its most loyal customers at regular intervals. That's something nearly no other line does (Royal Caribbean is one of few others that makes this a habit ; Norwegian Cruise Line only awards a free cruise to top customers once, when they first hit the top Ambassador level).

We also love the little touches that Seabourn extends to its most loyal customers, like the Tiffany & Co. milestone gifts. Bravo, Seabourn.

Have Some Questions about the Seabourn Source App

By SLSD , December 14, 2023 in Seabourn Cruise Line

I have some questions about the Seabourn Source App.  I used it without difficulty on our last cruise, but either I have forgotten how to use it or I do not remember how to find a few things.  Where do I go on the App to see which excursions I have ALREADY signed up for?  I'm trying to make a list and see what elese is available, but I am batting zero.  I've looked at the Wallet, the Account, etc.  Any help appreciated.

I did try calling the Excursions desk (1 800 989 3445 but after telling me the call may be recordedm it drops my call (hangs up).  Mr. SLSD says it is beginning to look like a third world (antiquainted term I know) cruiseline.  I'm getting frustrated.

For booked excursion, try, on the Source App home page, to click on "Plan", then "My Itinerary" and check the dates for which excursions were booked. To find new excursions, on the home page, middle left, there is a link to "shore excursions".

Thank you.  On my phone the screen is really jerky and jumping around, but I think I have found what I need.

I am frustrated that when I try to book an excursion, I get a message saying "try again later". This has been happening for days.

I spent an hour on the telephone with Seabourn---rebooting the Seabourn Source App. etc. etc.  It still did not work, so they sent me an e-brochure and I worked things out over the telephone,.  Not everything is taken care of, but enough that I can happy about it.

Seabourn is still not able to resolve a birthday dinner reservation on a friend's birthday at the new Solis restaurant.  We have been given reservations thirty minutes apart with assurance it can be worked out after we board.

I had no issues with the Seabourn Source App last year.  It worked fine for me at that time.  I also used to be able to make reservations for four at the TK Grill.  So---not totally pleased with the ease of making plans for our luxury cruise.

I am usually not a griper--but I have had a very frustrating morning with these things.

@SLSD If you can do it on a computer rather than your phone, log into your account and go to Manage My Booking. Click on Itinerary and you can just print that page, which will show your ports, excursions, dinner reservations, spa reservations. (I just did it this morning for our upcoming cruise, so I know it currently works!  🤣 )

Are you accessing the Seabourn Source on your laptop (which is what I usually use) or just from the SB website?

11 minutes ago, SLSD said: Are you accessing the Seabourn Source on your laptop (which is what I usually use) or just from the SB website?

Correction, I use Seabourn Source on my Iphone--I use the Seabourn website from my laptop.  I am exhausted after the hour on the phone.

3 hours ago, SLSD said: Are you accessing the Seabourn Source on your laptop (which is what I usually use) or just from the SB website?

@SLSD  Sorry I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I was suggesting that if you were on a laptop/desktop instead of a phone, you could log into your Seabourn.com account in a web browser — not the Source app — to get to see (and optionally print) your full itinerary, which shows all your bookings. That's what I did earlier today; it shows me exactly what I want on a single 2-sided sheet of paper.

If you want to do it in the Source app, at the bottom click on Plan, and then in the pop-up menu, click My Itinerary. Except that doesn't work for me currently; it just says "Oops, page not found." I don't know if this is one of Seabourn's temporary glitches or an ongoing one; I haven't opened the Source app since my last cruise!

To do it in a browser:

• Go to Seabourn.com

• Click Booked Guests

• Login to you account

• Locate your upcoming cruise on the Upcoming Cruises page

• Click "Manage My Cruise"

• Click the Itinerary link, and then the Itinerary picture which shows up below

That brings you to a page listing your daily itinerary showing daily arrival and departure times and anything you have booked each day.

Hope that helps!

Thank you.  I did figure out that Seabourn.com would be from the laptop.  I just have so little confidence in the website that I don't go there very often.  The good news is that I got the information I needed and did a workaround for the App with a Seabourn rep.  Yes, we have a TA, but not a helpful one!  I do appreciate your list of how to go about it on Seabourn.com.

Seabourn’s response to booked guests on Israel/Haifa and surrounding areas

Let me begin by saying  that I realize it is impossible to understand  the magnitude of what is occurring in Israel, Gaza, and surrounding areas. It goes without saying that the worries about what cruise lines are doing in response, is a blip on the radar of what is truly important.  That said, how is Seabourn responding to cruises scheduled in the near future to Israel and surrounding areas?  Clearly itineraries need to be adjusted, and some drastically. Some are re-routing via the Red Sea, some the Greek Islands, some mostly sea days, etc. This must be extremely challenging with the need to pivot quickly.  There seems to be a range of how different lines are taking care of their booked passengers….or not…with respect to these changes. Some lines are offering FCC, some not. Some are changing initial offerings….there seems to be a variety of responses.  But for those passengers who are not feeling safe or comfortable with the changes, is SB offering FCC or anything else along those lines?

I'm very interested in hearing the answer to this as my May 2nd cruise that I just signed up for has two days in Israel.  I knew when I signed up that Israel was not a likely stop but now I'm worried about Egypt and Jordan as well.  The cruise has plenty of sea days already so I'm hoping they do at least go to some other ports.

I doubt anyone, here or at the cruise line, has any answers about itineraries for six months from now. The current situation is just too fluid.

I understand that but I figured I can look at what they do today as a potential indication of what they might do in May.  The one thing I'm fairly sure of is that they won't be stopping in Israel in May.  I'm just curious what (if any) alternate itineraries they are choosing now.

To clarify my original post, I was asking what and how SB is responding to booked passengers in these itineraries through the end of this year. Most, if not all Cruise lines have pulled these ports until then. Some lines are being much more gracious in how they are responding to this situation than others, I am seeing that they range from best case and classy, to incredibly poor and unprofessional  ….which triggered my question. In troubled times, how a company responds speaks volumes, and drives future decisions.

I think Seabourn was already done with the Israel stops for this season.  There may be a Suez canal transit left next month.  It is probably too early to know about next year.

Michael219

Additionally, the 14-Day Allure Of The Adriatic & Aegean is scheduled to dock in Haifa on May 12, 2024.  Our 14-day segment is sold out and of course, with current world events, we have concerns.

2 hours ago, Mahogany said: I am on Encore Dubai to Athens in April, and although I expect itinerary changes, I have not been advised yet by Seabourn. I would hope to know before cancellation penalties kick in Dec. 5.

Unless developments in that area turn worse, and make it plainly obvious that they will skip Israel (and possibly adjoining countries) throughout 2024, you may not get the answers you're looking for by December 5. So much can change in a few months. If peace breaks out and it is considered safe to seal to the area, customers will be unhappy if the cruise line reroutes all their cruises 100+ days in advance. You may want to explore with your travel agent what options you have to roll your deposit to a different cruise if you don't want to be disappointed with an itinerary change announced early next year.

I was speaking to Seabourn about week ago and they informed me that Encore had been due to stop in Israel in November but they have rerouted her but I can't remember to what port. I asked because we were also scheduled to be in the area next year.

None of us can predict where the Middle East goes from here.  But the level of hate has been clearly exposed.  Even if there is a "cease fire", the hate will still be there.

I don't know that the Middle East will be a "safe" cruise destination for many years. And the cruise lines will, necessarily, delay facing reality for as long as they can.

I checked and the November transit through the Suez canal included a stop in Ashdod. It should be easy to skip or reschedule one port.

This is a terrible situation and cruises are the least of the problems they face.  Let's hope for a quick and fair resolution.

Just now, cruiseej said:   Since people can't agree on what a fair resolution would be, there is unfortunately zero chance of a quick resolution.

You are right, but "hope springs eternal."

We have booked the Grand Voyage on the Quest for 2024 and the first segment goes to Israel, specifically May 7 & 8.  Before that, the ports include Tunisia and Egypt.

It's way too soon to predict what will be possible 6 months from now, but we would not be surprised by an itinerary change.  There have already been 2 minor adjustments.  I am sure that Seabourn will want to ensure our safety.

I’ve heard from a friend on that cruise that it’s been rescheduled for Rhodes,

Were you able to turn deposit into FCC?

TootyJane

You all remember the Arab Spring began in January 2011. My Mom and I were booked on the Spirit March 21 to April 8 (Dubai to Athens). Of course, we were talking about canceling and rebooking a different cruise. Seabourn would only say “they were monitoring the situation” as many wanted to know of any itinerary changes and whether or not to cancel. Not one word from Seabourn until we all boarded in Dubai and checked in. That is when we were informed of the itinerary change. Instead of Alexandria (where all of us wanted to go) we went to Ashdod. It’s one thing to be aware of any itinerary change but to not advise anyone until we were all onboard was a BIG fail on Seabourn’s part. May 2024 is seven months away but sadly, I think the conflict is going to get worse before it gets better.

6 hours ago, Mahogany said: Were you able to turn deposit into FCC?

It was returned to our credit card since we were still in the 100% refund period

4 hours ago, PhD-iva said: ...the Seabourn website doesn’t work for $h1t. Is it always this bad (searching on the Seabourn website?) Thx!

It has been for awhile. Even trying different browsers.

I mentioned the problems with the website to an agent and asked her if they are having problems with it. She immediately laughed, which is very telling.

I was reading on another thread that if you book airfare through a cruise line, and then that itinerary is changed and a FCC is available, it may not cover the cost of the airfare that you paid. This is occurring on another line. We were about to book flights, and while we are RT out of Athens, (ATH-VCE-ATH), I   wonder if waiting a bit might be more prudent. We’ve never booked airfare through a cruise line.  I also am concerned that in the Spring, even sailings  initiating from Athens might be impacted as well. I realize that there is no answer this far out, but I do believe it’s not far fetched to think that this war may continue into the Spring sailing season .  Greek Islands and Adriatic itineraries will likely be impacted from a ship pressure standpoint with all the re-routed itineraries, making already crowded ports so busy as to be unenjoyable. The positive is that SB sails to many smaller ports that larger ships cannot be re-routed to on many other itineraries, including ours.

Booked for Dubai-Athens in April.  My TA advised us that  Cruise Lines have stated they have cancelled all ports in Israel for the next 2 years so far.

Wow, that's telling.  I think I've gone from the frying pan to the fire or perhaps just fire to fire.  I cancelled my Oceania 27 day cruise that started in Dubai and ended in Barcelona with have 5 days in Israel, 2 in Egypt and 1 in Jordan.    Now, I am booked on a 34 day Seabourn cruise that starts in Singapore and ends in Athens.  2 days Israel, 3 days Egypt 1 day Jordan.  I believe all of those ports will be cancelled but the more I research SB, the more excited I am to try out their product.  The problem is I chose Turkish Airlines which stops in Istanbul.  It wouldn't be much of a problem because I had short layovers but they changed my outgoing flight so I now have a 9 hour 45 minute layover.  I booked a tour that covers the layover but Turkey appears to be getting involved in the conflict.  That was an unnecessary fail on our part, could have used a different airline but I've heard good things about TK business class product and wanted to give it a try.  I'm in the 25% cancellation penalty phase, I'll ride this out until the cruise line decides to do something.  I might have to cancel my Istanbul tour and just stay in the airport.

A few thoughts on this as I know Turkey pretty well as I previously led a company with a sizable office in Istanbul:

 - Erdogan is an opportunist and I seriously doubt he'll do more than posture in this conflict. He has enough economic and other issues at home that over-extending into this conflict makes no sense...but he also wants to whip up his base so he'll make a lot of noise. More bark than bite, I suspect. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't be worried either about the flights or the tour.

 - Turkish biz class is quite nice, with really outstanding service. I've flown it a few times and it's definitely a big step up from any Western flag carrier.

 - There are fantastic sights in Istanbul that make a day tour a great proposition. Be warned that traffic in the city is about the worst I've experienced anywhere, so even with a layover of that duration you're going to spend quite a bit of time getting into and out of the city. The good thing is that most of the prime sites are clustered together so you won't spend much time getting from place to place (and in fact you could just walk between them all). I'm speaking here of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Grand Bazaar, Topkepi Palace, and the Cistern who's name I don't recall off hand.

Thank you, the Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque are my points of interest.  I hope you are right for so many reasons.
