Warm weather is officially here and that means The Rooftop at Pier 17 is back open for summer concerts! It’s one of our favorite music venues in the city, thanks to its open-air stage and unparalleled skyline views. The People’s Princess, Ice Spice, is bringing her very first ever headlining tour to NYC for two dates in support of her recent debut album Y2K!  Now at superstar status, she’s earned some career defining accolades with help from hits like “Munch (Feelin U)” and her lead single from the album “Gimmie A Light.” Boasting one of the most popular sets at Governors Ball 2023, she’s here for her headlining debut, and she’s bringing Cash Cobain and RIOTUSA along with her.

August 7: Def Leppard / Journey

Two legendary rock bands are co-headlining an unforgettable night this August, with Def Leppard and Journey both touching down on the Citi Field stage. Both bands will be playing hours worth of anthems on the 7th, as well as bringing the Steve Miller Band as an opening act.

August 9 – 11: Elements Music & Arts Festival

Looking for a little music festival escape this month? Elements Music & Arts Festival is happening this August, and it’s a “Burning Man-style” get together that’s only 90 minutes outside of NYC in Long Pond, PA. It’s a camping-style festival, where EDM fans can listen to a wide range of star-studded DJs, as well as taking in large-scale interactive art installations, art workshops and demonstrations, wellness programs, workshops and talks, theme camps, and so much more . August 10: Gorgon City

Electronic duo Gorgon City bring their recognizable bass driven house music back to the Brooklyn Mirage for another summer edition of their record showcase, REALM . The two recently dropped their latest album, Reverie , and this year’s lineup (which is still TBA) is set to feature a roster of personally co-signed up-and-comers who are making a splash not only on their label but in the dance community as a whole. August 11: We Belong Here

After a wildly successful We Belong Here summer series on Governors Island earlier this summer, We Belong Here is hosting another dance party this August on Pier 16 in Seaport ! Fans of King Glizzard & the Lizard Wizard will be delighted to hear that these “marathon shows” will feature 3 hour non-stop performances on both nights in Queens. The rock band dropped two different albums last year ( The Silver Cord and PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation ) so there will be plenty of discography for them to pick and choose from!

August 20 – 22: Ken Carson

Atlanta rapper Ken Carson is playing an impressive 3 nights at Terminal 5 this August, bringing his Chaos World Tour into the intimate venue. He’s fresh off his groundbreaking A Great Chaos album which debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200 , and even made his Coachella debut in April and has appeared alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Playboi Carti in recent months. It’s set to be high-energy performance.

August 22: Tate McRae

Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Tate McRae is having quite the year, and she’s getting ready to play her biggest NYC show to date at the legendary Madison Square Garden. After dropping her incredible sophomore album  THINK LATER  last December, she’s been raking in the accolades including a #1 Spotify Global chart spot for “greedy” and recognition from Billboard, the Hot 100, and plenty more.

August 24: Two Friends

Popular for their electro-pop mashups, megastars Two Friends are bringing their Big Bootie Land extravaganza to The World’s Most Famous Arena for a very special show. The duo is set to debut Big Bootie Mix Volume 25 , the next iteration of their highly popular series that mixes music’s most popular songs. You can expect all kinds of drumlines, crazy pyrotechnics, and high energy beat drops. It’s set to be one of the most fun dance parties this month.

August 25: Pitbull

Dale! Mr. 305 is bringing the “Party After Dark” to NYC this month as he welcomes popular rapper T-Pain along with him! Pitbull recently rolled through NYC last fall on The Trilogy Tour with Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin, and this time he’s back with his own solo performance! He’ll be playing his best hits, as well as new ones from his Trackhouse (Daytona 500 Edition) record, which is inspired by the NASCAR Cup Series team Trackhouse Racing, which he has been a co-owner of since 2021.

August 26 – 27: Childish Gambino

Donald Glover’s music persona Childish Gambino is hitting the road this August, marking his first tour and stop in NYC in 5 years. The New World Tour  will touch down in Brooklyn in support of his two 2024 releases, Atavista (a so called “finish version” of his 2020 album 3.15.20 ) and Bando Stone and The New World (a soundtrack to his film) which just dropped weeks ago. He’s set to bring popular musician WILLOW as opener.

August 30: Dom Dolla

One of EDM’s most in-demand artists returns to NYC for one night only at Forest Hills Stadium! Australia-born Dom Dolla is riding high off his “girl$” record that has become one of the genre’s most popular summer anthems, and he’ll be back this August to play an awesome set in NYC. Dom Dolla has already had a massive 2024, appearing at Coachella, Tomorrowland, Ushuaia Ibiza, and many more . In terms of openers, Dom’s set to tap his close friends DJ Seinfeld, Fcukers, and Natasha Diggs set the vibe.

August 31: Porter Robinson

Fresh off his brand new album SMILE! 😀 , Grammy-nominated electronic artist Porter Robinson is playing out his brand new album in NYC this August. He’s set to bring a completely new live production including a full live band , after first experimenting with the band format at his own sold-out Second Sky festival and again in 2023 at Coachella’s main stage. He’ll be performing his new project as well as hits from other studio albums Nurture and Worlds too… ericdoa will serve as opener.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for president is entering a new phase, shifting from a 33-day sprint to the convention to something more familiar: Preparing for a debate and pivoting to getting out the vote.

On Friday afternoon, Ms. Harris plans to fly back from Chicago to Washington, where she will spend the weekend decompressing from the mind-spinning turn of events that led to her accepting the Democratic nomination for president on Thursday night.

She will begin preparing for what will be her first national interview — which she has said will take place by the end of August — and for the Sept. 10 debate with Donald J. Trump, according to campaign officials briefed on her plans who were not authorized to reveal them before they are formally announced.

The officials said Ms. Harris will return to the campaign trail next week with events in multiple battleground states, where she will aim to extend the enthusiasm generated at this week’s convention in Chicago.

Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota, her running mate who was plucked from relative political obscurity 17 days ago, will return to his state before heading back on the campaign trail next week.

Presidential candidates typically come out of their conventions trying to build momentum with bus tours or rallies. Ms. Harris’s choice to delay the traditional barnstorming reflects the supercharged pace of the last few weeks and the changed nature of modern campaigns, where social media posts can be as important as speeches. It also is evidence of a shift from a sprint to more of a middle-distance effort that requires endurance and speed in equal measures.

“Campaigns often do barnstorm, but this has been such a compressed schedule for her and she has a debate in 17 days,” said David Axelrod, the veteran Democratic strategist who worked on Barack Obama’s campaigns. “A little downtime and maybe even prep would make sense. As we just saw they have a plethora of first-rate surrogates who can and should be deployed when she is not.”

While Mr. Obama in 2012 left his re-election convention in Charlotte, N.C., for a swing through battleground states including Iowa and Florida — where he was memorably lifted into the air by a pizza proprietor — campaigns today rely less on the local media coverage generated by stumping across the country.

Campaigns now seek to reach voters as much on social media apps as in person, a reality that was evident in how the Democratic National Convention gave status to influencers willing to cheer for Ms. Harris and spread the campaign’s message that was equal to or better than what it gave the traditional press corps at the United Center.

Ms. Harris’s self-imposed deadline for a national interview, next Saturday, presents the next hurdle for Ms. Harris. It will be a break from the rhythm of stadium rallies she has hosted since she named Mr. Walz her running mate.

Mr. Trump does not have a robust campaign schedule in the coming days either.

The Republican nominee sought to divert attention to himself during the Democratic National Convention, holding an event each day in a different battleground state. Mr. Trump plans on Friday to cap the week’s events in Las Vegas and in Arizona, where his campaign has teased a special guest that many expect to be Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who suspended his independent campaign for president on Friday and endorsed Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump is then expected to spend the weekend at his golf club in Sterling, Va., according to two people familiar with his plans. But he does not have any public events scheduled until Monday, when he will address the National Guard Association of the United States in Detroit.

“President Trump will be working nonstop like he always does and doing an interview this weekend, which is one more interview than Kamala has done in 33 days,” said Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign.

Mr. Trump did not remain quiet after his convention. Two days after it ended in Milwaukee, he traveled to Michigan for his first joint rally with his newly crowned running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio.

Sebastian Bach is leaving “Skid Row” and returning to the road.

Starting in September, the 56-year-old Canadian rocker will embark on his 35-concert, North American ‘Child Within The Man Tour’ in support of his recently-released fifth studio album with the same name.

Midway through the run, he’s slated to stop in at Sayreville, NJ’s Starland Ballroom on Saturday, Nov. 2.

As of now, there are no New York dates on the North American run.

“We will give you a 100% LIVE rock ‘n’ roll show,” Bach shared in a press release. “No tapes, no fakes, all real, all the time cuz that’s the only way we know how to do it! Come and see a real rock ‘n’ roll show while it still exists.”

He’s bringing some friends along for the ride, too.

On select dates, Bach will be joined by Tesla , Ace Frehley and Lita Ford .

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming ‘Child Within The Man’ shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale is Friday, Aug. 23.

If Travis Scott’s “ UTOPIA: CIRCUS MAXIMUS TOUR ” has proven anything, it’s that the Houston native knows how to put on a damn good show. On Monday (July 22), the rapper announced a one-night concert at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium and yet another leg to his trek — this time in South America and Australia.

The rapper shared the big news on Instagram, where he seemingly mistook the arena for being in a neighboring state. “New York, I wanted to do this venue during the first leg, but football season had it tied up,” he wrote. “I had to make sure we [spun] the block. New York has always been the place for me. When I perform, it lets me know the real metric of the rage. Can’t wait for one night in New York.”

Either way, Scott teased something special up his sleeve earlier in the day. On Twitter, the ASTROWORLD artist said that he’s “got something for the gang.” Though he didn’t provide more details, fans can only assume it’s new music or guest performers. Tickets for the Oct. 9 show will be available to purchase starting Friday (July 26).

Scott brought out Ice Spice, Central Cee and Lil Baby for his London concert on July 11. He previewed an upcoming song with the “Princess Diana” creator in addition to doing renditions of “SICKO MODE,” “goosebumps” and “FE!N.”

The “UTOPIA: CIRCUS MAXIMUS TOUR” will touch down in Chile on Sept. 7 before making stops in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. From there, Scott is scheduled to perform on Oct. 17 in Sydney, Australia, and the leg’s final show will be on Halloween (Oct. 31) in Auckland, New Zealand.

UTOPIA came out in July 2023 with features from high-profile artists like Beyoncé, Drake and SZA. It’s also worth mentioning that The Weeknd and Bad Bunny joined Scott for “K-POP,” the LP’s lead single.

Jennifer lopez and ben affleck will not reunite at tiff premiere of their upcoming film.

Don’t expect any awkward run-ins on the red carpet for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.

The duo may be ending their marriage , but they’re still in business together after Affleck produced Lopez’s next movie, “Unstoppable.”

Page Six hears the divorcing duo will avoid any red-carpet reunion at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival in two weeks when their project debuts.

Lopez has a supporting role in the film produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity.

A source tells us that Lopez will attend the Canadian film fest for the movie’s Sept. 6 premiere, while Affleck will not.

Either way, reporters may be asking Lopez, 55, about the couple’s split while she’s promoting the movie.

The star had previously shut down a question about her marital status in May during a panel in Mexico City for her previous film “Atlas.”

“You know better than that,” she said with a brief smile, per a video  posted to Instagram  at the time of her press tour for the Netflix film.

“Unstoppable” — based on the inspiring real-life story of Anthony Robles, a champion wrestler with one leg – is directed by William Goldenberg, the editor of Affleck’s 2012 hit “Argo” and his 2023 movie “Air.”  

Lopez plays Robles’ mother in the movie which also stars Jharrel Jerome, Michael Pena and Don Cheadle.

According to the Daily Mail , certain producers on the movie are “pushing the two to appear together at the premiere in Toronto to create buzz on the film.”

But we hear it ain’t happening.

Vanity Fair recently wrote of Lopez landing the role in the film, “It didn’t hurt that Lopez is married to Affleck, though Goldenberg swears that didn’t have much to do with her casting.”

“She had to be somebody who’s lived a life, and I felt like Jennifer was one of the few actresses who could play the part,” the director said.

“I think that she was right for it, and it was also serendipity that he happened to be married to the person we sort of wanted all along anyway.”

It isn’t the only upcoming Hollywood project for the former couple: Lopez recently wrapped “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which was also produced by Affleck and Damon for Artists Equity.

Lopez stars in the project based on the 1993 Broadway musical and is an executive producer as well.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on Aug. 20, their second wedding anniversary. The official date of separation on the papers is April 26. 

According to a report from TMZ, the couple do not have a prenup.
