The Premier Club

The Premier Club, known for its great atmosphere, is situated in the Shanks or Paisley suites, named after Liverpool’s most celebrated and famous Managers Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. These recently renovated lounges are the perfect lounges to mix first-class match day hospitality with match day passion and excitement.  They come with VIP match seat in the Executive section of the Upper Kenny Dalglish stand along with a pre-match meal.

LFC History, Honours & Rivalries

Liverpool Football Club were founded in 1892 and has played at Anfield since the day it was formed.

The club won the Lancashire league in its first season and joined the football league second division the following season and won the title in their first year. This led to promotion to the first division which it first won in 1901.

Liverpool FC is one of the most successful clubs in England having won the league 18 seasons (only Manchester United have won it more) the League Cup a record 8 times, the FA Cup on 8 occasions and the Community Shield 15 times. They haven’t won the league since the 1989/1990 season although have finished second a few times since – most notably in 2018-19 when Manchester City narrowly pipped them to the Premier League title.

The Reds are the most successful English club in Europe having won the European Cup/Champions League six times, UEFA Cup three times and the European Super Cup three times.

The Club is now owned by the Fenway Sports Group, an American based company having previously been owned by American businessmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett who bought the club from John Moores whose family had owned the club for over 50 years. They are currently the seventh richest football club in the world.

As mentioned, Liverpool have always played at Anfield however the stadium has obviously changed a lot since then. It started capacity at just 20,000 with the Kop built in 1906, which is renowned for its fantastic atmosphere. The stadium now holds close to 55,000 people. Hospitality packages have been improved which coincided with the end of the construction work on the new main stand which cost 100 million. This stand is now three tiers rather than two and there are new additions to the Anfield package offerings.

Their two biggest rivals are Everton, who also play in Liverpool, and Manchester United and between them they have won 38 league titles and 9 European Cups. They have both experienced title droughts – Liverpool’s being nearly 30 years now while Manchester United similarly went twenty-six years without a title.

LIVERPOOL CROWNED CHAMPIONS

Liverpool won their first title since the 1989-1990 season when Chelsea defeated their closest challengers, Man City, two-one. Liverpool’s first game as champions is away against Manchester City.

After several near misses over the last thirty years they have finally won the title and richly deserve it after serving up some scintillating football this season.

Their only defeat so far has come against Watford, at Vicarage Road, and they have regularly put teams to the sword with their strike force of Mane, Salah and Firmino causing sleepless nights for defenders. They have one of the best keepers in the world in Alisson, the world’s best centre back in Van Dijk and their inspirational captain Henderson has provided energy from midfield. They also won the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup, their only blot on the season being their loss to Atletico Madrid in the last sixteen of the Champions League.

They are also on course to go through the 100-point barrier, Man City have the current record of 100 points. Records they currently have are the best start of any team in Europe’s top five leagues having won 61 points from their first 21 matches. They have also won the most consecutive matches at home with their twenty first being against West Ham in February.

Biggest winning margin – Another record which they should break. Man City currently hold the record win 19 points in the 2017/2018 season

When they last won the league in 1989/90 Kenny Dalglish was manager where the likes of Hansen, Whelan, Rush and Barnes were the big stars. Nobody would have thought The Reds would have to wait another thirty years for their next title as clubs such as Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea became so successful.

Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and getting tickets is hard to come by unless you are a season ticket (there is a huge waiting list) or a member and getting tickets via memberships is very difficult as well as demand exceeds supply particularly for the big games. If you are going to Anfield you may get offered tickets from outside the ground but please do not buy these as they will be black market tickets and a lot more than face value, they will also probably not get you in the ground. The same applies with tickets bought on secondary ticket websites.

Few stadiums in the world are as shrouded in mystery as Anfield in Liverpool. The stadium is situated at one end of Stanley Park (the home field of Everton, Goodison Park, is at the other end), a few kilometers east of central Liverpool.

Anfield can today hold 45,276 spectators, but the record attendance is significantly higher than that. In a FA Cup game against Wolverhampton in 1952, 61,905 people showed up. Anfield is ranked as a four star stadium by UEFA, which is slightly below world class.

Stadium History

Football of the highest level has been played at Anfield ever since 1884. It might sound strange since Liverpool FC wasn’t formed until 1892, but the fact of the matter is that Everton, which was founded in 1884, used Anfield as its home stadium initially. However, when a dispute between the club and the landlord about the rent blossomed up, Everton moved to Goodison Park. The first game that Liverpool played at Anfield was against Rotherham. They won the game with 7-1. 1893 Liverpool played its first season in the English top division. Back then, the stadium could take approximately 5,000 spectators. From the end of the 1800’s up until now, the capacity has been increased in stages. In 1906 the famous stand Spion Kop, or just The Kop, was built. In 1928 it was expanded to be able to hold over 30,000 spectators, and today the stand only consists of seats. Despite this, not many people remain seated when You’ll Never Walk Alone booms out across the stadium. Between 1963 and 1973 Anfield was greatly modernized. The old main stand was torn down completely in favor of a new one. During the 1980’s, they also started to remake all stands to be seated only. The latest modification was done in 1998 when a second section of the Anfield Road Stand was built.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp tells Arne Slot: ‘You’re getting the best job in the world’

Jurgen Klopp believes Arne Slot is a smart choice as his successor as he told the incoming Liverpool manager: “You’re getting the best job in the world.”

Liverpool are working to finalise a compensation package with Feyenoord for the Dutch coach, who has two years remaining on his contract.

A compromise is expected to be reached with Slot having made it clear that his heart is set on taking over at Anfield.

“I didn’t read anything but I was told that Arne said something,” Klopp said on the potential of Slot becoming his successor.

“I am not involved in the process. What I like a lot about it is if he is the one then he wants to take the job — he’s desperate, excited, let’s go for it.

“I like the way his team play football and all the things I hear about him as a guy. Some people I know, know him, I don’t know him yet.  Good coach, good guy.

“If he’s the solution for the club then I am more than happy. It’s not up to me to judge but it all sounds really good to me.”

Asked what Slot would be inheriting at Anfield, Klopp added: “Best job in the world, best club in the world.

“Also it looks like I help with not leaving on a high so space for improvement, let me say it like that. Great job, great team, fantastic people. A really interesting job.”

Slot wants Liverpool job, 'confident' agreement will come

Wednesday’s defeat to Everton effectively ended Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League title, but Klopp is keen to ensure his final season doesn’t just fizzle out.

Cody Gakpo will return to the squad for Saturday’s trip to West Ham United after missing the Merseyside derby to attend the birth of his son.

“Little Samuel is born. According to Cody, everything is fine. Mum well, boy well, father well and back in training yesterday,” Klopp said.

“I can’t remember ever being as disappointed and frustrated as I was after the Everton game. I blame myself 100 per cent because we were not in the mood. We lost pretty much all the decisive battles.

“I am pretty sure Arsenal and Man City now see it as a two-horse race now. But I am not in the mood to raise the white flag.

“The boys are incredible footballers and I have the job to create a situation where they can be the best version of themselves and that is where I have failed. I didn’t see any version of that in the Everton game.”

Liverpool last night agreed a compensation package with Feyenoord for Arne Slot, who can now look ahead to what he will do in the role vacated by Jürgen Klopp. Here's your round-up of the latest Liverpool news.

Liverpool agrees Slot compensation

Having seen an initial offer rejected, Liverpool has now reached a compensation agreement with Feyenoord for the services of manager Slot. He was contracted at the Dutch club until 2026, with no release clause, but 48 hours of talks proved productive.

Per Paul Joyce , Liverpool will pay an initial $9.6m (£7.7m/€9.0m) for Slot , in itself a high fee for a manager. There will also be another $2.1 (£1.7m/€2m) in potential add-ons.

Slot's announcement as Klopp's heir is now expected to be imminent, with the compensation package the final hold-up. The manager had earlier stated that he was waiting on the conclusion of talks between the two clubs , and that he wanted to become the new Liverpool coach.

Slot 'wild' about Championship winger

It's thought that Michael Edwards and his team selected Slot in part due to the stylistic similarities with the current Liverpool side. But more than Klopp, the Dutchman is known to have an obsession with wingers .

He will inherit a few pretty decent ones at Anfield , not least Mohamed Salah . Another one who fits into the typical mold nicely is Luis Díaz , while there's sure to be something Slot can do with former Eredivisie star Cody Gakpo .

But Slot could also dip into the transfer market. He will be working closely with Edwards and new Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, who will exert significant influence over recruitment, but he is supposedly 'wild' about one potential player he could now target.

Anfield Sector reports that Slot is 'wild' about Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United. He infamously scored late against Liverpool to secure a 2-1 win that broke an undefeated home streak, and has more recently been impressing in the Championship.

Four months ago, Anfield Watch reported that Liverpool was 'weighing up' a move for Summerville. Perhaps with Slot on board, that's a transfer that now makes a great deal of sense to kickstart a new era.

Summerville, 22, is a compatriot of Slot's. He spent his youth career at Feyenoord, but never made a senior appearance, turning down a new contract after two loans elsewhere and instead moving to Leeds.

As Liverpool try to recover from a stretch of games, including a defeat to you know who, that will never be discussed around these parts again, one thing they’ve sorely missed is firepower in front of goal.

It does not help that Liverpool’s most consistently clinical striker, Diogo Jota, has been mostly out injured during this hell run, which took us from in the running for both Europa League and Premier League titles, to out of one, and effectively out of the other. The injury to Connor Bradley has further complicated matters, necessitating that the Reds rush back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Whether either will be seen before the end of the campaign is as of yet unknown, but Kloppo assures us both are progressing in their rehab.

“Both not ready. Progressing well, [but] not ready and nobody told me yet they will start training in the next few days. I think it will take time, a little bit,” Klopp said in his prematch press conference.

While we wait for the lads to return, it should would be nice if the ones who are fit and available started, you know, putting the ball in the back of the fucking net.
