King David Tour - Great Experience

We are a group of 12 that recently took a cruise and hired King David for a tour of Belize. King David exceeded our expectations. It was a pleasure setting up our tour prior to the trip. David was very accommodating and set up a tour to meet our needs. The King David rep was waiting for us when we arrived. We choose to do cave tubing and the Belize zoo. Jenny, our tour guile, was awesome. She took our group to a few sights that we wanted to see in Belize City. She was very friendly, and provided us with a history of Belize as we drove to our first stop. Since this was a private tour just with our group, we were not rushed and could take our time at the Zoo. The tube caving was great. One nice benefit with King David. You do not need to carry your tube on the 30 minute walk to the cave tubing. King David has the tubes at the entry point, which was a nice touch. We typically book our own tours at cruise ship ports and our Kind David tour was one of the best experience that we have had with booking a local tour company instead of a cruise line tour.

We had the most incredible experience Cave Tubing in Belize with David. It was just the three of us and we had a private tour of the caves. We were able to climb behind waterfalls to see Mayan Ruins and to swim in the healing waters of the caves. Afterwards we had lunch at a traditional Belize restaurant and it was delicious. We will book again when we come back to Belize. It was an unforgettable experience, along with the history of the city and the caves. Highly recommend this!

We took a private tour for six from the cruise port. Great communication with David via email, very prompt and detailed. Went cave tubing which was the absolute best experience ever and then to Altun Ha ruins. Our guide Oscar took excellent care of us, was very informative, and got us back to our ship on time. Highly recommended!!

The private Altun Ha tour we took with Altournative Belize Services was the best day we spent during our whole cruise! We didn't get to spend the day with King David himself, but had Robert (I believe that was our guide..), who was just great! He was so friendly, easy going and knowledgeable. The food at the restaurant we stopped at on the way back to the ship was really tasty. Good choice! They even provided a very clean, new looking car seat for my little one to use on the tour (although it wasn't quite the right size, as she's still using a rear facing bucket-style seat at home....still it was much appreciated that they could even offer one!)

We were in Belize for one day during our cruise. King David was a bit under the weather that day, so Oscar was our tour guide. He was a fantastic guide, and the tour of Lamanai exceeded our expectations. King David and Oscar were waiting for us when we made our way out of the port, and we felt completely safe the entire trip. Oscar treated us like family, and told us all about Belize and the Mayans during the van ride to Orange Walk. We enjoyed the ride through the beautiful countryside of Belize. At Orange Walk, we had an opportunity to use the restroom before we got on the speed boat to go to Lamanai. Our guides stopped at several places on the river to point out various animals along the way. We were one of the first groups to reach Lamanai, so we were able to complete our tour without being surrounded by crowds. There were only 8 people in our group, compared to the large groups you find yourself in if you book through the cruise ship. Our tour guides did a great job leading us through the three main structures and answering our questions, and Oscar took our pictures for us several times. On the return trip home, we were served a delicious Belizean lunch cooked by the mother of one of the guides. If I had to give a suggestion for improvement, it would be to add cushions on the seats in the boat, and a sun shade over the top of the boat, because I ended up with a sunburn on the return trip even though I had applied sun screen. Regardless, the positives FAR outweighed the minor negative and I would HIGHLY recommend this tour -- we are SO glad we booked with King David instead of booking through the cruise ship. We paid less than the cruise ship price for a better quality tour, and we will definitely book with King David again the next time we return to Belize.

King David was really great tour guide. I read a lot of reviews about him and I decided to address David even before I arrived in Belize, he was very efficient with e-mails and gave information about the excursion. We chose to do LAMANAI, David is very knowledgeable and has shared many stories with us all day. We went to the table after leaving the ruins and it was one of the best meals I had! It was one of the nicest of our trips and I highly recommend that you choose King David for all your hiking needs! !

King David Tours

King David offer various tours in Belize depending on preference. Belize has many fun excursions like visiting the Mayan Ruins or cave-tubbing. My boyfriend and I decided to do zip-lining and cave-tubing which also included lunch at the end. King David sent us a detailed message that explained everything we needed to know and even how to get to the port as early as possible (we came from Carnival Cruise). It only took us a minute to find David and he led us to our destination. The tour was an hour away and he made sure we were on schedule and had enough time to get back before our cruise departed. You can tell he is very passionate about Belize and knows his stuff. Throughout the entire tour he was accommodating and informative and makes sure that his guests are taken care. He was the most hardworking guy I have seen compared to every other excursion we've taken. If you ever visit Belize, make sure to book an excursion with King David! You will not regret it.

We had an awesome time on our tour with King David to Lamanai. It was like having a good friend taking you on the tour versus how large, impersonal company tour. He was very cognizant of the time make sure we didn’t miss our cruise ship boarding. I would recommend King David tours for anybody who plans to visit Belize.

My husband and I booked a tour to the Lamanai Mayan Ruins with King David for our cruise. This was one of the best days ever!! David met us right at the port. He was easy to spot when we exited the port terminal - we knew him by his crown and tuxedo shirt! And then the fun began!! We had a short car ride where David told us all about the areas we were in and about Belize. Before we knew it, we are at the next part of our tour and ready for the journey to the ruins on a boat!! Fun ride!!! David pointed out wildlife and plants and told us all about them. And then, we were at the ruins! David planned our tour so that we got the most of our day, and we were able to stay away from the crowds. We had lots of time to climb the ruins and take pictures and just enjoy the area. We were never rushed. We passed many groups and knew that a lot of them were from the cruise ships (we asked and also saw their cruise cards) who were all rushed from site to site. I even heard one of their guides say, Time is money, Money is time. Who says that when you are leading a group? David let us take our time, at one point, he had us stop quietly on a path and just listen. We heard the howler monkeys in the distance. While we were touring, David gave us a history on each of the ruins. This was the best tour! And, David provided a yummy lunch! While the other tours were PACKED onto their boats, we had time to sit at in the picnic area and had a delicious lunch. We know that if and when we return to Belize, that we will call David to set up another tour. For those on a cruise, David has been giving tours for many years, he has never gotten his guests back late ever. We had plenty of time to look at a few stores before catching our tender back to the ship. Book your tour with King David when you visit Belize, you will not regret it.

I visit altun ha practically everyday because it's a part my area of patrol in my daily duties. I learn that the Mayans use to trade cacao and jade for example . They even use to have leaders that govern and rule over them. The Mayans they believe in a thirteen steps to heaven and none to xibalba. I get to learn that they were good farmer too. Etc...

We booked a trip directly with King David prior to going on our cruise. They did a great job communicating with us prior to our arrival and then were there to greet us and walk us to our vehicle when we got off the ship. They drove us to the river, telling us about the city and the region as we drove. We had a little time to shop before we took off on our river tubing adventure. One of the nice things is that they carried our tubes for us to the river so we could just focus on enjoying the scenery as we walked through the trails to the river. The river tube through the caves itself was AMAZING! Super fun and really relaxing (not rapids or anything). Our guide did a great job explaining some of what we were looking at as we tubed through the caves. Hard hats with headlamps on them are provided to help you see. After we returned to the vehicle, we stopped at a small restaurant for lunch before returning to the port. You will not be disappointed with this activity or this tour operator. They are fantastic.

This tour is highly recommended! King David and his team are knowledgeable about the ruins and we really enjoy the stories about the Mayan traditions. We even have the chance to appreciate some native fauna and flora.

Located in Northern Belize, Lamanai Tours is one of the last Mayan cities in Belize to be discovered by the Europeans because of its distance away from the sea. Lamanai became a focal point for Spanish priest and friars to try to teach the Mayan people Christianity. But, The Mayan People continued to practice their beliefs despite the fact that the Spaniards built their Spanish churches near present day Lamanai.

The Europeans came across Lamanai as they were searching for Logwood, Mahogany, Sapodilla (Aka Chewing gum Tree/ Rubber Tree ) and other important plants while traveling the New River in Northern Belize.

The area is rich in Flora and Fauna. Therefore, it creates an amazing river cruise and jungle safari Tour in the hopes of seeing a wide variety of plants and animals. Yet, it begs you to wander how hard working, knowledgeable these people were with out the use of modern day technology to create such amazing structures as you travel back in time and follow the footsteps of these great Nobles, Elites, Kings and peasants.

Please take note that single day tours, ESPECIALLY for Cruise Ship Visitors, for small group of 2  to 7 person, May or may not be joined by others. Groups of 8 or more are automatically Private Tours.

Please Note that the Seating space on the boat itself  is very very limited during the High Season, Mid November to Mid April, during which, there can be up to 4 ships on port in one single day, Especially if its on a Wednesday and Thursday. Hence, This is Why We will Regulate the amount of Guest we Book per day for this Tour.

Our Prices are fair and Competitive.  1 u.s dollars = 2 Belize dollars.  Prices are based  on the size of YOUR group and How much you like your tour to be customize for you. Cruise Ship passengers are met O utside Terminal One with a sign that reads their name. The sooner you board the tenders to the port, and the sooner we meet, the better for us all.

For  CRUISE SHIP GUEST ONLY, ANY small groups of 2 to 7  Persons May be join by others in the Van.  If they are join by others in the Van, There WILL NOT be more than 15 persons in the Van. There can be a little waiting involve for all parties to get organize for this tour to start. PLEASE NOTE WE ARE WELL AWARE OF YOUR TIME .  Sometimes, Your Tour may  begin immediately because  You may be the only group booked for that day .

ANY Groups of 8 OR 15 GUEST, Your Tour Begins Immediately As soon as you meet Us Outside Terminal One.  You May have the Boat also private for your party, depending on the time of the Year.

Any Groups of 14 or more, will have everything private. Boat and Transportation  For Groups of 14 or more, Prices may be Negotiated.

For ANY Small Groups of 1 or 2  guest , Who choose a  private tour, The Price is 235 u.s.  Please note, only the transportation to  and from the dock, where we will be boarding the boat will be private. More than likely, you will be joined by others on the boat.

OVERNIGHT PRICES are base  ON THE SIZE OF YOUR GROUP and HOW MUCH YOU WOULD LIKE TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR TOUR

Overnight Visitors to Belize are met  at the Philip Goldson International Airport on the day of their arrival,  at the Municipal Airstrip in Belize City, if they are flying in from the islands or cayes,  at the Water Taxi , or  at their H otel in Belize City or anywhere on Mainland Belize.

Lamanai Tours Highlights

After meeting the guest, we drive on a northerly direction for about 45 minutes to1 hour before boarding the boat for our   Lamanai Tours. During this drive, the guide elaborates about Belize in general. The scenery along the way is unique as we go over a river that has its origin in Guatemala, pass thru a savanna, see some farmland and lush forest, See local fisherman fishing on the river, and see a Mennonite community.  We may have the opportunity to go on top of some of the structures. The site includes  couple structures, plazas, gift shops for souvenirs for after the tour.  Lunch is also included.
