Dominica Ferry Schedule

Dominica travel is not only made easy through air access but by interisland ferries which serve the islands of Dominica, its French neighbors of Martinique, Guadeloupe, Marie Galante, Les Saintes and St. Lucia. Dominica ferries give visitors the opportunity to spend long or short vacations on the island, while locals are able to visit the neighboring islands on vacation as well, or for shopping and business.

There are two main ferry services in Dominica operating on a convenient and accommodating Dominica ferry schedule. Affordable, quality and reliable ferry services in Dominica are provided by the L’Express Des Iles , which has been delivering ferry services in Dominica for at least the past twenty years, and the Caribbean Spirit , which recently began ferry operations in Dominica from Portsmouth, the second major town on the island.

Visit Basilico Italian Restaurant for the best in Italian inspired dishes and appetizers such as Gamberi in Tempura and Melanzana alla Parmagiana which are deliciously made. Basilico International Menu stands out for its unique Italian desserts and appetizers which are skillfully prepared by Italian chefs.

The main Dominica ferry service is L’Express Des Iles . The Express, as called for short, has a convenient Dominica ferry schedule, which travels everyday to the neighboring French islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique and the more northern island of St. Lucia. The Express increases its capacity during summer and Christmas seasons when there is a lot of activity in Dominica travel. From the Roseau Ferry Terminal, in fast air conditioned comfort, passengers can get to and from the islands of Guadeloupe and Martinique with connecting service to St.Lucia, Marie Galante and Les Saintes. The Caribbean Spirit ferry service in Dominica is a service offered by Compagnie Maritime de la Caraibe (Caribbean Maritime Company) which is a member of the Groupe Loret, a French distribution and service group.

Dominica ferry schedule is well planned and delivers dependable and affordable transportation at least twice a day, every day of the week. Dominica ferry service has offered an excellent alternative to air travel which lately has been more costly and restrictive in terms of the types of items that people are permitted to travel with due to international safety regulatory measures. Dominica ferry service is thus a major part of Dominica travel and guarantees flexibility in the event that flights are fully booked. The schedule for the Dominica ferry service allows travelers to carry much more luggage than would be allowed on an aircraft.

All sea ports in Dominica take in cargo; however passengers from cruise ships and ferry disembark at the Portsmouth Cruise Ship Berth, the Roseau Ferry Terminal and The Roseau Cruise Ship Berth.

A recent expansion of the Roseau Ferry Terminal has significantly improved Dominica’s ferry service between the islands. Major improvements have been made to modernize security, user accommodations and passenger and luggage processing. The Dominica ferry facility is now equipped to handle the ever expanding tourism industry which benefits immensely from Dominica ferry services.

Dominica ferry schedules and Reservations for the ferry services of the Express can only be made via the local agent, Whitchurch Travel Agency located on Old street Roseau.

The Dominica ferry schedule for the Express may vary but the vessel generally travels to Guadeloupe and Martinique Wednesday through Friday at 10:15A.M from Dominica and on a Sunday at 12:15P.M. However the ferry travels to Saint Lucia only four days a week; Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 10:15 A.M and return form Saint Lucia at 4:00P.M. The Ferry is taken from the Roseau Ferry Terminal at Present but there are exceptions which details are provided by the agent. L’EXPRESS DES ILES also docks at the Deep Water Harbor in the Woodridge Bay when the ferry terminal in Roseau is unavailable for service use.

In the north of the island the second largest town of Portsmouth does not have a ferry terminal but the Portsmouth cruise ship berth welcomes tourist everyday during the ‘On’ season and Tuesdays on the off season. Yachts also dock at the harbor off the coast of Prince Rupert bay. Although there is no yacht marina at the moment the calm anchorage of the bay is ideally suited for a yachtsman. Yachts men can anchor their boats at any of the official ports on island but have to check with customs first. The more Popular Roseau Cruise Ship Berth, located in the capital town of Roseau is in walking distance for some of the country’s best shopping and businesses. Like the Portsmouth Cruise ship berth visitors aboard cruise ships come to Dominica during everyday but on off season every Tuesday.

Travelling to this pristine island of Dominica is relatively hassle free; for most countries no visa is required however a valid passport is necessary before entrance is permitted into the island. Visitors wanting to come to Dominica via the sea can enjoy the newly remodeled Roseau Ferry Terminal for prompt easy access into the island.

I was thinking of combining Guadeloupe, Dominica and Martinique into one 3 week trip in August 2012.

Ferry to Dominica stay 3 days

Ferry to Martinique, stay 1 week

Fly home from Martinique.

I know I can do the flights , but is there a "stop over"option with the ferry service, or do I need to buy separate tickets?

If you buy your ferry tickets in advance, your travels will be easier. The only English speaking vendor I could find was through Whitchurch Travel Agency in Dominica. Send them an email and they will get back with you regarding how to book the ferry. Trying to buy the tickets on the dock looked stressful and very time consuming. Give the plenty of time. The Express des Iles ferries are comfortable, large and pretty fast.

Thanks for the replies. I speak french, so that's not a problem.... However, I wrote the ferry company twice asking for information and no answer yet. All I can find online at their site are round trip fares. They don't list the international timetable online either.

Hi, I have tried to reserve a ticket from Guadeloupe to Dominica for some time now and with no success. I have also tried to email Whitchurch Travel Agency in Dominica with no success.

Anyone who has a good answer / how to book these tickets in advance?

Not really. But it's VERY unlikely the boats ever sell out, even in high season; they have 400+ seats. So if you don't worry having to queue for the local ticket sales desk at PTP, according to recent stories can be longish, simply wait until you are there (but do it a few days before actual trip).

Ask the person where you are staying to book them for you - that's what we did when we went and then reimbursed them.

We bought our tickets through a local travel agency : Tropical Tours. They had been recommended through another forum and all went well.

After booking, the boat schedule had changed and they send us an update with the new information.
