“I’ve Got Trimm Trab Like The Flash Boys Have”

You don’t have to be a die hard trainer fan to appreciate the significance of the Trimm Trab to the casual subculture. It’s pretty clear that the Trimm Trab has earned far more than its “stripes” when it comes to classic adidas footwear . A connection that only a handful of OG adidas styles can truly claim. The adidas Trimm Trab trainer is undeniably one of the most renowned & respected 3 stripes trainer styles from the 1980s. Its story of popularity & introduction into the UK footwear market was perhaps like the modern day equivalent of hype trainer culture, before their was social media, the internet & trainer events like we know today. Back in the 70s & 80s the trainer market was a completely different world all together. In the beginning the Trimm Trab wasn’t even available in the UK. If you wanted a pair you had to go straight to the source, and in the unique case of the Trimm Trab for example, it was the birth country of adidas itself, Germany.

After its official release in 1977, the Trimm Trab was only available in Germany and some parts of Europe. Originally released as part of a government led fitness incentive, the Trimm Trab followed on from other “Trimm” styles like its slightly older sibling, the Trimm Star from 1972. The explosion of adidas trainers in the North West during the late 70s and early 80s saw the Liverpool based footwear retailer, Wade Smith, spot a gap for the growing demand of 3 stripes in the region. The original 3 stripes entrepreneur would drive to Germany in a van and bring back hundreds of Trimm Trab’s and other rare adidas styles that would sell out within a matter of days. Rumours across Merseyside claimed that Smith sold hundreds of thousands of the Trimm Trab alone during the 80s. The reality is they were probably true.

Liverpool was where the magic started for the Trimm Trab, however it’s casual connections’ weren’t just limited to the North West. In Cass from 2008, Nonso Anozie who plays the ICF hooligan, Cass Pennant, mentions the Trimm Trab when describing the popular clothes, trainers & styles worn by the original West Ham casuals. Blur even wrote a song about the Trimm Trab for their album 13 in 1999. The lyrics “I’ve got Trimm Trab like the flash boys have”, shows the significance of the TT’s popularity when it comes to casual snobbery.

The coveted casual classic is now updated in a brand new sky blue colourway for the latest season. Highlights include nubuck uppers with contrasting 3 stripes to the side walls. The original trefoil logo sits on a dimpled tongue with ‘Trimm Trab’ in gold foiling to the sides and the signature thick white midsole which also featured on the likes of the adidas Munchen from the same era.

We’ve got the green light on designing something very special here – introducing the all-new adidas Originals Trimm Trab – ?exclusive pack. This one is part of an all-new The Lost Ones project – starting with the DIEHARDADIDASFAN community in South Jakarta. After an email in lockdown, they told us that they own around 450 pairs of vintage deadstock adidas from the ‘70s to the ‘90s.

For this pack, we’ve managed to recreate a few pairs from the collection, and we are starting with three Trimm Trabs. Boasting three silhouettes, this pack contains updated mesh renditions, premium suede and striking colourways to see you through the seasons. A retro style with a fresh look, the shoes all maintain their OG shape with the usual patterned chunky soles that define them.

First, there’s a very special homage to Jakarta. This one has soft suede uppers dressed in classic adidas blue, while contrasting yellow, green and red features nod to the crest of Jakarta, celebrating the global adidas collecting community. Crinkled tongues boast golden Trefoil branding, while shiny foil branding adorns the lateral sides. The defining Trimm Trab soles feature too; high rising, they come with tonal patterns and adidas Trefoil labelling.

Another suede Trimm Trab, this authentic look is coated in a must-have navy and red colouring. Serrated 3-Stripes sit on the sidewalls in classic style, joined by shiny foil labelling to the lateral wall. Crinkled tongues and Trefoil-printed soles crest the heels and below, the same classic sole unit features, like the other two pairs.

Finally, we are really excited about this one. We’ve updated one of our favourite adidas Originals with a mesh upper, offering a really unique setup for this icon. Dressed in a bold red colouring with complimentary blue details, things get more traditional on the sole unit and of course, shiny foil labelling on the lateral side finishes off this gem.

A$AP Ferg's adidas Skateboarding X Trap Lord Capsule Is Here

After a very successful collaboration with adidas Skateboarding in 2015 that helped bridge the gap between skate culture and hip hop, New York City’s A$AP Ferg once again partners with adidas on an all new collection of footwear and apparel, now at Culture Kings.

This time around, Ferg takes his design cues and inspiration from the independent film 'Children Underground' to produce a line that speaks to the plight of the disenfranchised youth of the inner cities of Europe.

The adidas Skateboarding X Trap Lord capsule is coming to Culture Kings and includes two colourways of the Matchcourt X Traplord skate shoe, the Ferg Windbreaker, Ferg Pants and Ferg Jersey, as well as the Ferg Trap Hat and Ferg Tee. 

The Matchcourt X Traplord sneaker is an authentic adidas court shoe with Ferg's added artistic touch. Made with a leather upper and a rubber toe cap and outsole, these skate shoes provide excellent control, staying durable where they take the most abuse. The vintage chalk-white outsole features signature A$AP Ferg branding and artwork. These sneakers also come with two pairs of laces to change up your look and are available in a black and white colourway as well as a red and whit e colourway.

The Trap Hat is a flat brim cap with elastic closure at the back with rubberized print branding on the front. Made from 100% cotton twill, an embroidery adidas Trefoil logo also sits on the back of the hat. The A$AP  Ferg Windbreake r, Pants , Jersey and Tee also feature both adidas branding and Ferg artwork.

To celebrate the launch of the Trap Kitchen x adidas Originals Forum Low, we caught up with DJ M I A to one, sample some good food but two, to chat about herself, music and growing up with a love of music.

Initial glance of M I A’s Soundcloud page, you spot the words ‘music for every mood’ and this has been key to her success having been featured on the likes of Capital Xtra as well as being a radio host on Mixtape Madness. With this said, it was only right to get M I A up on the decks to provide us and you, with our latest Frequent Players Guest Mix. Footpatrol: Hey Mia, thanks so much for coming down to spend some time with us today, we start off all our interviews with the simple question of how are you?

M I A: I am Alive, which is the main thing right? 🙂 

FP: For the people who are not familiar with who you are and your work, could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

M I A: I’m a DJ and I go by the name of M I A. I’m an old soul from the streets of North London who loves to express myself through Music whilst uplifting the spirits of others at the same time. 

FP: When was the first time you realised you had a love for DJing?

M I A: I’ve always loved music but In late December 2018 I randomly decided to buy myself some Decks 

FP: You often describe your Djing style as ‘Music for every mood’, if you were going to describe your DJing style in three words what would they be?

MIA: Sweet. Stylish. Stimulating. 

FP: If there is any, who has inspired your craft and how has this shaped you as the DJ you are today?

M I A: All of the musicians who have created the sounds I listen to have inspired my craft because without them I wouldn’t be able to play great music for the world to hear. 

FP: Let’s talk a little bit about your personal accomplishments such as being the radio host on Mixtape Madness as well as being featured on Capital Xtra by Global, what did it feel like breaking through on these platforms at the time?

M I A: It’s always reassuring to know people appreciate the music I play especially when big platforms have reached out to me directly for opportunities; given the fact that during the time of these achievements I had just started my career.      

FP: We want to know a little more about your connection with Trap Kitchen , how did this friendship come about? 

M I A: Let’s just say Real Recognise Real… & not to forget the connection I have with the Mac & Cheese and Prawns!

FP: Let’s delve into the fashion side of things, how do you think your style has allowed you to express yourself creatively? this could be through playing on the decks or through your hosting roles, how does the way you dress reflect your identity? 

M I A: When I feel like I look good, especially with my outfit choices and hair it definitely contributes to my performance. Depending on my mood I will then decide what I’m going to wear for each event but you’re most likely to see me with a belly top even in the winter. 

FP: adidas is a brand known for its versatility and has often been the rhythm of subcultural city life, especially the adidas Forum model, what is it that you like most about this shoe? 

M I A: I love the fact I can change the straps and take them off, it changes the whole design. It’s like having two trainers in one. 

FP: Moving on to being a female within the DJing industry do you think there is enough representation of women like yourself in the music scene? 

M I A: I’ve noticed the growth and there definitely has been a lot more representation of women like myself in the current scene of music, doors are opening. 

FP: What advice would you give to individuals trying to make it out in the DJing scene?

MIA: Follow your own unique music path.

adidas for Travel: 5 Important Items for Your Trip

When it comes to travel, picking the right clothing and shoes can make all the difference. You need something comfortable and stylish that can withstand long walks (or hikes!), hours of sitting in planes and cars, and everything in between. This is where adidas comes in with their range of travel-friendly products for women. They offer everything from shoes to sports bras that cater to the needs of both functional and fashionable women. In this blog post, I will dive into the best adidas products for travel that every woman (and active mom!) needs in her suitcase.

What is adidas?

adidas is an international brand of athletics apparel, shoes, and sporting goods. The company is known worldwide for their signature three-stripe logo. This logo can be found on all adidas products in many creative variations.

Why we chose to review adidas products?

As family travel bloggers, our mission is to provide helpful information for traveling families based on firsthand knowledge and experiences. This mission is not only for the destinations that we visit, but also for the products that we use and review. We only review products that we actually use and places that we have personally visited.

When adidas invited us to join the adidas blogger community, we did not hesitate to say yes. Buddy and I knew immediately that this was a perfect product for us to review. This is because adidas is Buddy’s favorite brand of shoes and clothing. He was already wearing adidas on our travels and hikes. So, it was a no-brainer to say yes to reviewing these products.

That said, as a mom who is more of a jeans and a T-shirt kind of gal, I did not own any adidas products prior to joining the blogger community. Trying new shoes and clothing out on trips was fun and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised at how perfect the brand is for travel – especially the shoes! But more on that later. So here it is, from one traveling woman and working mom to the next, the some of the best adidas products for travel.

Best adidas for travel: A review for traveling women (and moms!)

adidas is known for their high-quality shoes. And there are so many to choose from! From sneakers to soccer cleats, to volleyball shoes, to hiking shoes, adidas has so many shoes to choose from! And adidas shoes come in a variety of colors to suit everyone’s unique style. Basically, when it comes to comfortable shoes for travel, there is something for everyone.

For those who are more adventurous and enjoy hiking, adidas has hiking shoes for you! For me, the TERREX AX4 Hiking Shoes were a great choice. They provide excellent support and grip, making them perfect for tackling any terrain.

Since I purchased the TERREX AX4 Hiking Shoes in early August, I wore them to hike at Petroglyph National Monument Volcanoes Trail, Bandelier National Monument, and Deer Trap Mesa Trail in New Mexico. The shoes were great. They provided excellent arch and ankle support, and they kept me steady on trails where fellow hikers were slipping and sliding on fragile soil. Also, I had no issues breaking them in. I like these shoes and definitely recommend them for hiking. The only drawback is that they are a bit bulky for my liking and do take up a lot of space in suitcases.

For walking

For the casual traveler, adidas sneakers and walking shoes are a good option. The QT Racer 3.0 Shoes on the other hand are perfect for travel! This running shoe is lightweight, sleek, and comfortable. They also come in a variety of colors, so you can match them with any outfit.

I wore the QT Racer 3.0 Shoes when I visited Washington, D.C . with my dance company for a week of work at the nation’s capital. The shoes were perfect – they were lightweight and provided all-day comfort during all the walking that I did around D.C. The shoes are sleek and soft. It is like walking on little pillows. And best of all, the shoes fit great! I was a bit concerned because I did not break in the shoes before traveling to D.C., a mistake that I know can lead to blisters. But I did not need to worry! The shoes fit perfectly, and I had no issues with blisters.

Best of all, the shoes are sleek and lightweight and easily fit into a suitcase or carryon. They are perfect for travel!

In addition to shoes, adidas also offers some great clothing items that are perfect for travel. Traveling with a hoodie in the winter is essential for comfort on the days you will be sitting in cars, planes, and trains for hours and hours on end. adidas has a large selection of colors and styles of comfortable hoodies for your next trip!

I chose the adidas adicolor Adicolor Essentials Fleece Hoodie as my sweatshirt of choice. This is because of the small logo and the kangaroo or hoodie pocket that I could use to keep my hands warm. It is soft and comfortable, making it perfect for the plane or long car rides. It also comes in several colors, so you can match it with the rest of your outfit.

Since I got this hoodie, I wore it in Socorro, NM, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and it kept me warm when I visited the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta with my family in October. The sweatshirt is warm, comfortable, and stylish. It is so stylish in fact that Buddy took it out of my closet and wore on a day I was packing for a trip to San Francisco. I went crazy looking for my sweatshirt until he came home from school wearing it. I know I made a good style choice when my teenage son took my sweatshirt out of my closet!

How does it pack? Well, it is a sweatshirt, so it does take up some space in the suitcase. But it takes up a lot less space than some of my sweaters.

3. Sports bras

Okay, admittedly sports bras are not a must for travel. But, if you are an avid hiker, like I am, packing a sports bra or two for some travel hiking adventures is essential. If you are looking for a sports bra that provides both support and comfort, adidas has an excellent range of sports bras to choose from.

I chose the Running Medium-Support Seamless Merino Wool Bra and the Powerimpact Training Medium-Support Bra.

Specifically, I chose this bra for long hikes as merino wool is my preferred fabric for all things hiking. This sports bra is perfect for hikes and long walks . I wore it the day we hiked Bandelier National Monument, and Deer Trap Mesa Trail in New Mexico. It was comfortable and moisture wicking.

On the other hand, I chose the Powerimpact Training Medium-Support Bra for extra support for more intense workouts. And the sports bra does offer extra support. It is also comfortable and made with breathable materials, so you won’t need to worry about getting too hot.

Both bras pack nicely. It is a great choice for travelers looking to hike or break a sweat while on their trip.

4. Something a bit more stylish

If you are looking for something more stylish, adidas has you covered! Really? Really.

I thought adidas was only athletic wear, but then I came across some more stylish items. So, I splurged and got myself the Blue Version Knit Sweater. I loved the color and the look and the fact that it could be versatile and would pair nicely with jeans, a pair of slacks, or even some leggings.

So far, I wore the sweater with a tank underneath) to a nice dinner with dance colleagues in San Francisco. And I plan on wearing it to a performing arts conference in New York and pairing it with red slacks and a red scarf. Unfortunately, I did not think to take a selfie while wearing the sweater, so there is no photo.

But, I felt cute and a little sexy. Who would have known that sleek and stylish look would come from adidas? And this sweater rolls up nice and tight to fit in your suitcase.

5. Pants and jackets

Full disclosure, I have not yet tried out an adidas pants and jackets while traveling yet. But, from the looks of their website, and what I hear from Buddy who did get a couple of pants and jackets, they are lightweight and comfortable! And they are perfect for layering. I see Buddy layering his adidas jacket (and adidas sweatshirts) all the time. With so many different styles and colors available, you can look stylish and feel comfortable no matter where your travels take you.

adidas makes exchanges easy

One of the best things about adidas is their easy and hassle-free exchanges. This is very important for travelers ordering clothes online. Even if you do measure and follow the sizing guide, sometime things do not fit. adidas makes it easy to exchange products for different sizes.

Buddy and I ordered all our adidas products online. And I originally ordered the Blue Version Knit Sweater in a size too big. But, exchanging it for the right size was easy. All I had to do was print the mailing information online and pop the box in the mail. Just make sure you keep the tags on and exchange withing the specified window of time.

Do we recommend adidas for travel?

Yes, adidas is an excellent brand to consider for your travel needs. Their shoes, sports bras, and clothing are all designed to cater to the needs of the modern traveler, whether you are exploring a new city or getting lost in nature. With their easy and hassle-free exchange, it’s easy to try everything on and pick the items that work best for you. If you are a woman who loves to travel, make sure to put adidas on your shopping list for your next adventure.

Admittedly, Buddy ordered more items from adidas than I did. This is because adidas is his favorite clothing brand, and as a growing teen, he needed more items than I did. So, stay tuned for his review from a teenage traveler’s perspective. And while Buddy wore his adidas for his Halloween costume this year, we have not yet filmed a Movement Postcard in our adidas. Maybe someday soon!

Part of my packing dilemma is always about shoes. I want to have the right shoes for the things I am doing – which is often quite a mix. I always take at least one pair of “running” shoes – typically ones that have lots of cushion and are great for walking long distances. But your point about weight is a good one. Some of my older running shoes were so heavy. Glad weight has become an important factor in design for companies like Adidas.

I love the brand Adidas athough most of the shoes I have are more casual trainers. I like the look of the qt racer 3.0 shoes, they make good walking and casual shoes to wear with jeans.

Adidas has nice clothes and shoes, great that they’re both comfortable for travel and in day to day life.

I had no idea that adidas made hiking shoes, but that’s awesome! I tend to wear all my “bulkiest” things onto the plane to save luggage space, hehe. Sports bras are a must for me when I travel since I usually try to find hiking spots/adventures! :]

I also didn’t know adidas made hiking shoes until I got some. I too wear the bulkiest clothes and shoes on the plane, so when I travel for work, the sneakers are usually in the carryon – lol!

I always try to travel with just the pair of shoes I wear to the airport and one other different type of shoe. Simple trainers are great for both walking and exploring while also serving as an athletic shoe if you need it for runs or easy hikes.

Unfortunately when I travel for work, one pair of shoes doesn’t cut it so having a smaller more comfortable shoe to wear out and about is essential!
