En español: el plural de Tour es Tours

La Fundéu indica que el término Tour, que da nombre a la gran prueba ciclista francesa, se escribe con inicial mayúscula por tratarse de un nombre propio y admite la forma plural añadiendo una ese final (los Tours).

De acuerdo con el Diccionario panhispánico de dudas, el empleo de este extranjerismo en mayúscula está justificado cuando se usa en el ámbito deportivo para designar a la competición francesa de ciclismo por ser un nombre propio y su plural es Tours.

Neither one is idiomatic in AE, in which we go on tours. A tour operator designs and runs tours for its customers.  

Personally I would be using "organises" or "conducts". "Doing" a tour is perhaps how a tour guide would describe his job, conducting tours; it could also describe what the tourists are doing, colloquially: we're "doing a tour" of Edinburgh Castle today, meaning "we're being taken on a tour of the Castle".

El concepto de un tour proviene del francés y tiene varias acepciones utilizadas. Entre los profesionales de la industria hotelera y turística, un tour es un viaje o excursión previamente planeado y diseñado, normalmente por una agencia de turismo .

El tour conlleva visitar uno o más destinos turísticos, la lista de paradas y actividades que se contemplan en un tour son lo que llamamos un itinerario. También existen otros tipos de usos para la palabra “tour”, utilizado para designar una visita a una empresa o fábrica, o en la industria musical.

Ideas claves sobre el concepto de tour:

• En la industria hotelera, un tour es un viaje diseñado y organizado con una o más paradas.
• El itinerario del tour, normalmente, es organizado por una agencia de viaje. Sin embargo, en las últimas décadas ha habido un resurgimiento de tours organizados por viajeros independientes .
• Uno de los primeros empresarios en comercializar un tour fue Thomas Cook.

El concepto de “tour” en la industria turística

El significado de tour en la industria hotelera y turística es el de un viaje organizado por una agencia de viajes o un touroperador. El tour turístico puede tener un destino o varios destinos, al igual que puede incluir variedad de actividades relacionadas con los mismos.

Ante esta situación, el viaje organizado por una agencia de viaje pierde cuota de mercado. Los viajeros más jóvenes no tienen interés en un tour en un autobús de dos plantas por las ciudades, y prefieren descubrir los rincones escondidos sólo conocidos por los locales.

Todo esto propicia el nacimiento y el uso de nuevas empresas que aportan herramientas para que cada viajero organice su propio tour. Empresas como Segway se hicieron famosas por sus vehículos de movilidad en las ciudades, y hoy en día es común que pequeñas empresas los utilicen para organizar tours en las ciudades.

El tour independiente también ha sido posible por el auge de las aplicaciones móviles que ayudan a organizar el viaje por cuenta propia. Aplicaciones como Airbnb, Trivago y Tripadvisor han supuesto un aumento de un mayor número de turistas que organizan su propio tour.

Tour empresarial: una herramienta de marketing

Otro tipo de tour relacionado con el turismo es el tour empresarial. En este caso, la palabra tour se utiliza por las empresas que reciben a clientes y visitantes a sus instalaciones. La empresa toma esta oportunidad para enseñar cómo es la elaboración de sus productos, o la gestión de sus servicios.

Es una buena oportunidad para crear lazos íntimos con el público objetivo, y ayuda a las marcas a obtener credibilidad.

Un ejemplo claro de un tour empresarial lo encontramos en el turismo vinícola. Es muy común ver algunas marcas de vino organizar tours por sus bodegas. En estos tours, se incluye una visita guiada por las instalaciones, un almuerzo o cena y una degustación de vinos.

Esta estrategia también ha sido implementada por fábricas de cerveza, y hasta por marcas de coches y motos. En estos casos, el concesionario o el fabricante del vehículo dispone de un circuito privado donde poder hacer pruebas al automóvil, con la ayuda de técnicos especializados.

Otros usos y definiciones del concepto tour

Tour de Francia: también conocido como el Tour, simplemente. Se trata de una carrera profesional en ciclismo que se realiza por etapas en Francia.

Tour musical: también conocido como una gira. Se utiliza por bandas de música para designar una lista de conciertos que van a realizar en una zona geográfica en particular. También es utilizado por otras profesiones como teatros (gira teatral), monologuistas (tour de stand-up) o hasta por políticos.

A continuación se ofrecen una serie de claves para una adecuada redacción de las informaciones relacionadas con estos eventos.

1. Nombres de grupos musicales, escritura correcta

Según la Ortografía de la lengua española , en los nombres de los grupos de música se escriben con mayúscula inicial las palabras con especial relevancia semántica: Gente de Zona . Se aplica lo mismo si el nombre del grupo tiene estructura oracional: No Me Pises Que Llevo Chanclas .

2. Nombres de miembros de grupos musicales, escritura correcta

Se escriben con mayúscula inicial en todas las palabras significativas de la denominación los nombres de los miembros de grupos musicales; por ejemplo, un Beatle o un Led Zeppelin .

3. Nombres de canciones, con cursiva o comillas

Los títulos de las canciones se escriben con mayúscula en la primera palabra y entre comillas si se citan junto al nombre del disco del que forman parte («Ojos verdes», de El pájaro fantasma ); si se citan aisladamente, pueden ir con cursiva o comillas («Ojos verdes»,  Ojos verdes ). Los títulos extranjeros pueden mantener las mayúsculas originales («Cruel Summer»).

4. Alternativas a backstage

Entre bastidores , entre bambalinas y tras el telón son traducciones válidas para el anglicismo backstage .

5. Nombres de festivales

Según indica la Ortografía de la lengua española , se escriben con mayúscula inicial los sustantivos, adjetivos y otras palabras significativas (si las hay) de la denominación de un festival : Festival de Jazz de Vitoria.

6. Encuentro o pase especial , mejor que meet and greet

Encuentro o pase especial son alternativas válidas en español a la expresión inglesa meet and greet para referirse a los encuentros de artistas con algunos de sus seguidores en un concierto o con la prensa.

7. Los fanes o  seguidores , mejor que el  fandom

Para aludir al colectivo formado por los seguidores de algo o de alguien pueden emplearse en español los fanes , los seguidores o  la comunidad fan , entre otras expresiones, mejor que el anglicismo fandom.

8. Staff , alternativas válidas

El anglicismo staff , utilizado para referirse al ‘conjunto de los trabajadores fijos de un organismo o empresa’, puede traducirse por equipo , organización o personal , en función del contexto.

9. Nombres de estadios

Los nombres de estadios se escriben en mayúscula por ser nombres propios:  La Cartuja .

10. Mánager , término válido

El Diccionario de la lengua española recoge mánager , con tilde, como la forma adaptada al español del anglicismo manager para referirse al representante de un artista.

11. Gira , mejor que tour

El término español gira para hablar de una serie de actuaciones sucesivas de un artista o grupo musical es preferible al uso de la voz francesa tour , como registra el diccionario académico.

12. Girar también es ‘hacer una gira’

El verbo girar es adecuado para aludir a que un artista o un grupo hace una gira, así como para señalar que esta se presenta por varios lugares.

13. Merchandising , alternativas válidas

Productos comerciales , promoción comercial o comercialización son alternativas válidas al anglicismo merchandising , utilizado para referirse a los productos que se suelen vender con el nombre, el logo o la imagen de un grupo musical o un artista.

UPDATED : After announcing the postponement of the opening night of his “Past Present Future” tour in his home base of Atlanta, Usher released a statement explaining that he’s rescheduling the first three hometown dates due to a neck injury.

Yesterday, Usher announced that he only had to cancel the opening date on Aug. 14, vaguely referring to the nature of his ailment. A rep for Usher told  Variety  the singer needed time to heal from an unspecified injury; the rep did not provide further details. The decision apparently happened quite recently: Usher wrote on social media Monday, “ATL, I’m coming home. Night 1 of #PPF is 2 days away,” and tickets and parking information for Wednesday’s show were sent out on Tuesday night.

As evidenced by Usher’s two-year “My Way: The Las Vegas Residency and his headlining performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show in February, his shows are extremely physically demanding, as they have been throughout the 45-year-old singer’s career.

Hoda Kotb revealed why she “tabled” her relationship with a mystery man after going on three dates earlier this year.

“This person, who’s a lovely human being, has a lot of things that are being worked out. … I think what I’m looking for [is] more kind of just simplicity,” the “Today” show co-anchor explained in Tuesday’s episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show.”

Kotb, 60, admitted she used to struggle with being the “fixer in life” where she would help everyone, but she is trying to do less of that.

“Sometimes you’re like, ‘You know what? Let’s just pause that instinct because that is my instinct. I’ll help. I’ll make it better. What do you need? How can we do it?'” she acknowledged.

That said, the journalist made sure to clarify that “nothing funky” happened when she “beautifully” ended her brief romance with her mystery man, with whom her co-host Jenna Bush Hager set her up .

“[We are] all good. He’s very cute, by the way, extremely handsome. I’ll show you a picture after, but tabled for now,” she shared on the podcast.

When asked whether she has “met anyone new” since, Kotb replied, “Not yet” and explained that she is constantly evaluating what she has “room for” each day.

“I think I’m into the addition process — someone who’s adding and not subtracting. Like, in this moment, I just want addition, because I feel like when I kind of map my days out and see what free time do I really have, it’s so limited that you want to make sure that when you have it that you’re spending it with someone who’s in the addition business of your life,” she continued.

The “Dateline” correspondent shared the update five months after revealing she had gone on her first date in two years .

“You know what? Life is beautiful! Like, try things, go out, get out of your house and your apartment. I feel like life is meant to be experienced and step out into it,” she told “Entertainment Tonight” in March.

Kotb gushed that Bush Hager, 42, was a “great picker” after the former first daughter played matchmaker.

The fling marked the first time that the “Hope Is a Rainbow” author had publicly dated anyone since calling off her two-year engagement and eight-year relationship with Joel Schiffman  in December 2021.

Kotb recently gave some insight into her decision to end the long-term relationship , explaining that she and the financier, 66, were in a situation “a lot of people are probably in.”

“One person’s growing … or one person wants it this way, and one person wants it that way,” she said in last week’s episode of “The Jamie Kern Lima Show.” “He really is a great human being, and I feel like I’m a pretty great human being, but sometimes two great human beings together isn’t quite enough to make it work.”

Kotb and Schiffman have remained friends and continue to co-parent their two adopted daughters: Haley, 7, and Hope, 5.
