It's not everyday that you come across a blues music legend who has featured on television programmes, films and even has a selection of instruments dedicated to them... well step forward Otis Taylor. The 66-year old is indeed a very talented musician, having been known to pluck the guitar and banjo as well as blow on the harmonica in a tuneful manner. Otis has released 13 albums in total, the most recent of which made its début in February 2013 entitled 'My World Is Gone'. The man himself played the Philadelphia Folk Festival in the same year and introduced himself with the song Ran So Hard, which contained one of the funkiest and complex repeated guitar riffs I have heard in this particular genre of music. A nice touch was also the back and forth solo playing between Otis's banjo and fiddle player Anne Harris. Despite being a pensioner, Otis easily managed to keep the energy levels up in the audience between songs by being informative and also witty. The song 10 million slaves was also a great hit, where the song had an almost psychedelic vibe due to sound of the guitar. Otis plays the guitar strings in quite a unique way, a similar style that he uses for playing the banjo, and thus produces a very upbeat and funky rhythm. My personal favourite was the song 'Hey Joe', probably most known to people for being a Jimi Hendrix hit. However, Otis put his own unique spin on the tune and made it more soulful with the assistance of a fiddle and his deep yet soothing voice. It was overall a very enjoyable performance and I can't wait to see where he will tour next!

Learn from the Visiting Artists in small interactive workshops. The focus is less on technical prowess and more on playing and creating music together in a group setting.

The workshops and opening Friday night jam are designed for everyone to play. It’s a chorus of musical instruments. The Saturday night jam will feature the Visiting Artists and selected participants.

Friday and during the second set on Saturday, the Visiting Artists will perform in a jam setting. Some workshop participants will be invited to the main stage.

Want to play with a legend? Join international blues artist Otis Taylor in his hometown of Boulder, Colorado—the city nestled between the mountains and reality—for the extraordinary Trance Blues Jam Festival. Unlike traditional music festivals where the audience is mostly passive, you are the rock star at the Trance Blues Jam Festival (TBJF). TBJF encourages and inspires people to be active participants. The point is to create music together. Led by Taylor’s infectious mastery, fed by his band’s passion, and wed with your musical expression, the trance jam is where you get to live your musical dreams.

The TBJF is designed for players of all types, all ages, and all ability levels to join in. It’s all about creating music together, not someone showing how well they can shred the guitar. It doesn’t matter what you play. Last year’s festival included vocalists, guitars, harmonicas, oboes, banjos, flutes, cellos, drums, violins, recorders, tambourines, maracas, mandolins and more.

All Saturday events are held at eTown Hall in Downtown Boulder (1535 Spruce Street).

Workshop participants will join with Mr. Taylor and the Visiting Artists for both the morning and afternoon sessions. The evening performance will feature the Visiting Artists. Participants will find a wide variety of dining options available for lunch and dinner in Downtown Boulder.

The highlight of the weekend will begin at 7PM as Mr. Taylor, the Visiting Artists and select participants take the stage at eTown Hall for the evening performance. Evening-only passes include audience admission to the performance. During the workshops, Mr. Taylor will invite some participants to bring their instruments and join him on stage during the evening performance. All workshop participants will be admitted to eTown Hall for the performance of course!).

Ellis-Bextor’s 2001 single ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ is enjoying a cultural and chart resurgence thanks to its use in the Jacob Elordi- and Barry Keoghan-starring movie Saltburn . She will be a special guest when the UK pop trio of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald return down under for their first shows in the region since 2017.

Dubbed This Life On Tour, this round of dates will kick off October 30 at Perth’s RAC Arena. They will also perform at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, and then round out the tour with three stops at wineries in South Australia, NSW and Queensland for concert series A Day On The Green. Australia’s own Ricki-Lee Coulter will join them at A Day On The Green.
