Elche Insider
Rio Safari Elche
Rio Safari Elche is a family favourite attraction where the excellent leisure facilities ensure a great day out will be had by all. The park is located on the outskirts of the city. This is just off the CV-865 and is actually closer to the town of Santa Pola than Elche. The setting of the park is wonderful, with shady trees and palms and spacious animal enclosures. Be sure to bring along swimwear and towels to enjoy the lovely swimming pool and water slide. The leisure area also boasts other fun activities, and visitors can bring along a picnic or eat in the restaurant or cafe.
Rio Safari Elche Animal Attractions
Of course the main attraction at Rio Safari Elche is the animals. These weird and wonderful creatures can be seen throughout the park. Visitors can either explore at their leisure on foot or take the handy Safari Train. Animals from all over the world are housed in the park. These are represented in various zones such as African Savannah where you can view the giraffes. A favourite area of the park is where the carnivores are kept. Here you can see Bengal tigers, lions and the elusive jaguar. There is also a great variety of birds and reptiles including birds of prey. The most popular area of the park with children is where the cheeky monkeys and apes live.
Rio Safari Elche Shows & Education
For many visitors the various animal shows are the highlight of the day. Some of the animals and mammals are highly intelligent. They entertain the crowds with their funny antics while they interact with the park's highly trained keepers. For an experience you will never forget, there is a choice of close encounters. These include petting and feeding lemurs and parrots, and swimming with sea lions. There is also an area of the park dedicated to education and conservation. Young ones can learn all about the animals natural habitats and get to learn about and pet farm animals.
Rio Safari Elche Leisure Facilities
All aboard the Safari Train. This is a superb way to view the animals at Rio Safari Elche. The train meanders its way through the park and visitors can hop on or off at leisure. In places the train actually enters the enclosures of some of the tamer animals. The leisure highlight of the park between June and September is the lovely pool area. Here it's all about fun in the sun. Terraces surround the pool for relaxing and sun bathing, and there is a fun for all water slide. The park has recently opened their Splash Zone. This is an exciting water playground for smaller children. Further leisure facilities include a go-kart track, trampolines and a children's playground.
Rio Safari Elche Dining Facilities
Unlike many animal, theme and water parks, Rio Safari Elche allow visitors to bring their own food and drink. The shaded picnic area is handily located next to the playground. For those that don't fancy lugging around a picnic, there is a snack bar and restaurant in the same area. The snack bar offers the usual favourites such as sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and combo plates. In the restaurant visitors can dine on a good selection of local and international cuisine. They also do a good choice of soft and alcoholic drinks, and a super value set lunch menu including a drink.

Water parks Costa Blanca summer opening times and prices
WHEN THE HEAT IS ON there's a wide variety of water parks in the South Costa Blanca that offer an opportunity for some cool wet n' wild fun in the sun. From meandering lazy rives to heart-pumping thrill rides, these parks offer a complete range of water attractions.
Water parks are a family-friendly favourite for many tourists and visitors to our little part of Spain, but the attractions offer such different experiences, that it's worth doing your homework before you commit to buying a ticket.
So here's what's available this summer, with seasonal opening times, the latest ticket prices for all the Costa Blanca water parks , and handy Google Maps to get you there.
Aquopolis Torrevieja | Torrevieja
The largest of the water parks in the south Costa Blanca area, Aquopolis Torrevieja packs 18 wet n' wild rides into one thrilling day out. Charmed Lake, mini zig-zag, and the mini-park provide plenty of entertainment for younger children, while Speed, Boomerang, and Kamikaze provide high-octane thrills for older kids.
Favourites such as Hydro-Racer, the Rapids, the Black Hole, and a wave pool cement Aquopolis's position as a firm summer favourite when the heat is on, and a VIP Zone offers a privileged area for parents and families to unwind in the sun or shade.
Aquopolis offers a wide variety of dining choices on-site, including a dedicated Burger and Pizzeria outlet, an ice-cream parlour, a sandwich bar, and a family-style cafeteria geared towards the tastes of children and hungry sun-drenched families. Visitors are welcome to take their own food and drink into the park, but no glass is permitted.
The best way to visit Aquopolis is by car with 600 free car parking spaces provided. There is no direct bus route from Orihuela Costa, and visitors relying on public transport will need to get a bus to Torrevieja's Habaneras Commercial Centre and make the short 10-minute walk to the water park on foot.
Alternatively, consider booking a taxi to get you there, with an estimated cost of around 20€ each way.
- Sunbed hire: 5,00€ per bed
- Secure lockers: 8,00€ plus 5,00€ refundable deposit (self-service lockers are cheaper)
Standard ticket prices cost 31,95€ for an adult, and 26,95€ for a child from 90 – 140 cm. VIP tickets cost 83€ and 73€ respectively, and discounts are available for online booking. Aquopolis Torrevieja opens daily from 11:30 until 18:00 (19:00 July and August).
Visitors can also save money by buying online discounted tickets at Aquopolis Torrevieja . Discount code AQCONSUM24 provides the largest online discount saving 40,94€ for a family of 4 on regular ticket prices. Aquapark Rojales | Ciudad Quesada
Located 20 minutes north of Orihuela Costa by car, Aquapark Rojales in Ciudad Quesada is a highly-regarded choice for family fun in the sun. It might lack the extreme rides offered by adjacent water parks but actually, that is part of the attraction.
Originally opened in July 1986 and the second water park to be established in the Spanish territory, the park offers 21.000 metres of rides, a lawned chill-out zone, a picnic area, a beach bar, and a cafeteria offering a menu of casual finger-food designed to appeal to a younger palate.
Aquapark Rojales is perfectly suited to younger families, or families with children (or adults) with a fear of heights. The entire park is built into the side of a naturally occurring hill, so the high climb-towers needed at some other parks won't be found in Aquapark Rojales.
Staple water park rides such as the Rio Yukatán lazy river, the Amazonia adventure zone, a children's activity lake, and a large pool will entertain little ones and grown-ups alike, and free parking is provided on-site. Read this fabulous personal review by La Zenia Community Group member, Jamie Gledhill.
Summer 2024 ticket prices cost 19€ with children's tickets available for 16€ (4 to 10 years). Concessionary prices are available for persons aged 65 years or older, but please note that Aquapark Rojales never offers promotional discounts or ticket giveaways. The park opens daily throughout the summer from 11:00 until 18:00 (19:00 July and August).

Flamingo Aqua Park | Torrevieja
Small, but packed full of fun, Flamingo Aqua Park in Torrevieja offers an excellent alternative venue for families hoping to avoid the madding crowds of the more popular Costa Blanca water parks at the height of summer.
This local water park is often overlooked, but just like Aquapark Rojales, Flamingo Aqua Park is just perfect for younger and less demanding children who can do without high-octane thrill rides and sky-high climb-towers.
Indeed, visitors expecting the full water park experience are sure to be disappointed, but Flamingo Aqua Park follows a successful recipe of a handful of flumes, a children's activity zone, and a freeform pool for messing around in the water.
Coupled with a snack bar serving a menu of family favourites that won't give Gordon Ramsay sleepless nights, this little water park proves that all you need is sunshine and H2O to have a lot of holiday fun. You'll find the prices reassuringly tiny too, and patrons are welcome to take their own food (no glass and no metal cutlery).
Entrance prices for summer 2024 start from 15€ for children aged 4-12 with an adult ticket price of 17,50€ per day – sunbed included. Children under 4 years enter free of charge, and special concession tickets cost €15 for those aged over 60 years. The park opens daily from 11:00 until 18:00.

Rio Safari Splash Park | Elche, Costa Blanca
It's hardly surprising to find Rio Safari park on most visitor's hotlists this summer. The venue houses a variety of exotic fauna including Jaguars, lions, Bengal Tigers and animals from the African savannah that are undeniably majestic and a wonder to see firsthand.
The adjacent Rio Safari Splash Park , incorporated into the main park, provides 4 swimming pools (2 dedicated to small children), 16 toboggan-style slides, and a host of water attractions for children and adults. The park is perfectly suited to younger children and families.
A self-service restaurant offers a menu of sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, pizzas and combo plates. For those who prefer to cater for themselves, a shaded picnic area is on-hand for visitors to consume food and beverages brought from home.
Rio Safari Splash Park is only accessible by car, located 40 minutes north of La Zenia in the direction of Elche. In addition to the animal experience and the water attractions, the park offers kart racing, a trampoline zone, and family-focused education and conservation activities for children.
Summer 2024 park admission tickets cost 22,50€ per adult and 17€ for children aged 3-12 years. Access to the Rio Safari Splash Park costs an extra 8€ per person as a supplement to the main ticket price. The park opens every day from 10:00 until 18:00.

Aqua Natura Water Park | Benidorm
Part of the larger Terra Natura complex, this fully-fledged theme park experience boasts 14 epic rides, with 5 specific attractions suited to young children under 5 years old.
Around 90 minutes north of La Zenia by car, Aqua Natura offers a complete day of entertainment for guests of all ages, and thrill-seekers won't be disappointed with four high-octane water rides and slides designed to elevate the heart rate: Niágara, Speed Hole, Kamikaze, and the zero-gravity La Cresta – a 20-metre high rollercoaster slide.
Naturally, Aqua Natura's splash zones offer an animal theme, and visitors can enjoy educational demonstrations from the “Guardians of the sea”, an immersive and responsive show featuring sea lions. There is a range of leisurely cafeterias and restaurants on-site and a picnic area for visitors to consume their own food.
An exclusive VIP zone provides easy front-line beach access to the swimming pool to enjoy with friends and family. The private area has both sun and shade, designed especially for those seeking a restful oasis between dips in the pool. Low-season prices start at 120€ and don't include the price of park admission, keeping this VIP area reassuringly exclusive.
Standard adult ticket prices start at 37€ with children's tickets available from 31€ per person online. Ticket sales for admission on the day cost 5€ more per person, and combination tickets offer money-saving admission to both Terra Natura and Aqua Natura. Parking is chargeable at 5€ per car per day, and Aqua Natura opens daily from 11:00 until 18:00.
Rosa Tours offers coach trips to Aqua Natura six days a week during the summer months, with adult ticket prices from just 39,00€ including return transport and admission to the water park and Terra Natura theme park. Departures from La Zenia and Orihuela Costa.

TOP-11 Moscow Parks to Visit
I have chosen the best 11 Moscow parks to visit and spend a beautiful time for you. Do not miss and choose one that you like the most – cycling, festivals, flowers, panoramic views and many other things are waiting for you!
Gorky Park (The Central Park of Culture and Leisure) – The main one of the Moscow Parks
In my opinion this park could be called the main park of the city. Why? Because of its huge territory, the central location and the amount of people visiting the park daily. It was founded in 1928 and in 2011 it was totally reconstructed. Now it pleases visitors with modern objects and soft green lawns.
- Oktybrskaya or Park Kultuty metro station, Krimsky Val, 9
The Gorky park is a the right choice for everyone! The youth will like a free WiFi, bicycles, skateboards and other rentals; the couples will enjoy spending time near the river, watching a sunset; parents will appreciate colorful playgrounds and a room for mother and child. Everyone can find something for themselves: from yoga classes to watching movies in a cozy summer cinema, from dance classes to volleyball playground. Gorky Park is also the venue for all kinds of exhibitions, festivals, events for children and adults. During the winter there is one of the biggest skating rinks in the park.
Museon Art Park – A Second Gorky they say
“Museon” is located on the opposite side of Krimsky Val street. And right now some people believe that Gorky and Museon together is a one space sharing the same beauty.
- Oktybrskaya or Park Kultuty metro station, Krimsky Val, 2
The Park of Arts was named this way because there is the largest composition of open-air sculptures in Russia. In its territory there are already more than 1000 unique exhibits: from monuments of the socialist realism era to various kinds of contemporary art. But this is not all the attractions of the park. In recent years, “Museon” has become an important cultural site of the city. The park regularly hold many different concerts, festivals, educational projects in the field of art and design. There is a Central House of the Artist, a comfortable summer cinema and other attractions on territory. Be sure to stroll pedestrian Crimean embankment, which looks like a modern park.
Neskuchny Garden – True Russian Nature is Here
Neskuchny garden is located on the right bank of the Moscow River. Today it is also seen as a part of the Gorky Park. This landscape park is one of the oldest in the city and is protected by the state. Its name was received from the Neskuchnoye Estate of Prince Trubetskoi which is still located in the park.
- Leninsky Prospekt metro station, Leninsky Prospect, 30
This park is famous mostly for its location close to the Gorky park. It is a quite place with true nature, lots of trees and squirrels and also ancient architecture. As in every park, there are sports and playgrounds, cafes and even a football field.
Zaryadye Park – 5 Steps Away From The Red Square
The area of this brand new park was opened only in September 2017 and located in the very heart of Moscow – right near the Red Square.
- Open from 10AM to 10PM
- Teatralnaya, Okhotnyi ryad, Ploschad Revolutsii
The park has 4 zones, each of them represent different parts of Russian landscapes. Above the river there is a floating bridge from where you get to see one of the best panoramic views on Moscow. Other attractions of the park are 5D cinema where you can take a flight above Moscow, few cafes and restaurants, pretty lakes with fishes and old preserved churches. In addition there is still being built a philharmonic hall, covered with a huge dome and an Ice cage where the temperature will always stay below zero degrees.
When you are on the Red Square do not miss it!
All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh) – The Soviet Style Moscow Park
Park VDNKh – one of the most famous parks in Moscow. This park is one of the sights of the city as it hasn’t changed much since the Soviet era.
- VDNKh metro station, Prospect Mira, 119
The symbol of VDNKh is a fountain with 16 women symbolizing the friendship of the nations of the USSR. Around this fountain there are all the pavilions representing 16 republics. Now inside the pavilions you find various shops, cafes and exhibitions. If you go deep inside the park you will find a rocket Vostok and and an aircraft. What is funny the inside of the aircraft there is actually a photo exhibition. Near the northern entrance you there is a famous sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”. It is extremely famous among Russians as all the movies by Mosfilm corporation used to start with the picture of this statue. But if you go further inside the park you will reach a very calm area. A lake is there, forest and birds singing. Since the park occupies a large area I suggest you to rent a bicycle.
Sokolniki Park – A Place For A Hunt Or For Leisure?
The park got its name because of the royal falconry, which took place there in the past when there was a dense forest. (Sokol means a falcon.) In 2011 it was significantly transformed: updated lawns, landscaped ponds and picnic areas, restored summer cinema and theater, a large rose garden, sports grounds, bicycle paths and other things.
- Sokolniki metro station, Sokolnichesky Val, 1, p. 1
From the main entrance along the alley you can walk to the Sokolniki circle, where 8 alleys form 9 sectors, in each of them you will find trees of the same breed. The park is famous for its rosary, as well as flower decoration. On the territory of the park there are concert halls, a library, amusement zone, dances zone and many many other attractions. In winter the park has a skating rink (a free of charge one) and ski runs. During the warm season you can rent a bicycle.
Tsaritsino Park – A Different World Inside Moscow
Here you can walk for hours, admiring the most beautiful nature and magnificent architecture.
- Open from 6AM to 12AM
- Tsaritsyno metro station, Dolsky, 1
The most amazing part of the park is the lake with a light and musical fountain. Every evening the fountain starts the show. Lights and music combined make you feel like you are not in Moscow but in a fairy tale. The park is also well equipped for sports lovers and healthy lifestyle. There are volleyball and basketball courts, a tennis court, sports facilities for acrobatics, bodybuilding equipment.
What I personally like about this park is the atmosphere. This place is actually far from the city center but I love going there anyway. Whenever I go there I feel like I left Moscow with all its hectic lifestyle. It is the place where I relax, enjoy myself or a company of my friends and feel kind of different. By the way totally suggested for a date!
Kolomenskoye Park – Combination Of Reserve and Architecture
The Kolomenskoye park is actually a Museum-Reserve. It is a former residence of Russian tsars and one of the most scenic places in Moscow.
- May to September – open from 8AM to 12AM, October to April – from 8AM to 9PM
- Kolomenskoye metro station, Andropov Ave, 39
Alike with Tsaritsino park Kolomenskoye park has its own special atmosphere with all the architecture, trees, ponds and even a river bank. The park regularly hosts various folk festivals and different fairs. In summer time you can play with kites or rent a bicycle and ride around the huge area of the park.
I love the view that you get on the city from one of the hills near the river. I love the apple trees alleys and the beautiful churches. It is also a bit far from the city center but yet worth going there. One of my best friends even celebrated her wedding there.
Aptekarsky Garden or Botanical garden of the Moscow State University – The Best Botanical Garden in The World
Aptekar in Russian language means a pharmacist so basically it is a pharmacist’s garden. It was founded in 1706 by Peter The Great for growing medicinal plants for the royal family. But later they moved it from under the walls of the Kremlin to the current location.
- Open from 10AM to 8PM
- Prospect Mira metro station, Prospekt Mira, 26
In the botanical garden there are no attractions and noisy crowds of tourists. The area of the garden is not as big as any other park in Moscow. And the entrance is not free. But this exactly what makes this park one of the most comfortable in the city. In the Aptekarsky garden they grow thousands of different plants, flowers and trees. Some of the trees are more than 300 years old. They held different festivals there: flowers festivals, sand and ice sculptures expositions.
For me it is one of the most beautiful parks not only in Moscow but in the world. I have never seen so many different flowers and plants anywhere else. And trust me I am a real park lover. And what is more the staff really takes care about every single tree or plant there, some of the trees have names and stories. I love it there and I think the price is really worth what you get.
Victory Park – A Park That Makes Us Remember The War
The park is located on the Poklonnaya Hill and it has one of the world’s largest memorial complexes dedicated to the World War II. The park was opened for the 50th anniversary of the Victory on May 9, 1995. It is also one of the main venues in the city for holding a variety of mass events.
- Park Pobedy metro station, Brothers Fonchenko, 7
On the main avenue of the park there are with 1418 fountains – exactly as long as the war lasted. Fountains make five water terraces, symbolizing five years of military operations. And in the center of the park there is the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. If you are interested in the history of the war do not miss it. The Poklonnaya Hill is a part of the park and from the hill you get one of the best views on the city of Moscow. And I could say this is the best place for watching the fireworks during the mass celebrations. But be aware it gets too crowded then. As in most of the other big parks you can rent a bicycle or rollers there.
Izmailovsky Park – A Mix of a Big Forest and Attractions
Izmaylovsky Park occupies a huge green territory, making up a large part of the Izmailovo district. The park consists of two parts: Izmaylovsky Park of Culture and Rest and the forest park of Izmailovo. First part is full of attractions and restaurants while the second one is like a real forest with pine trees, birch groves, beautiful clearings and ponds.
- Izmaylovskaya, Shosse Entuziastov or Partizanskaya metro stations, Izmaylovsky Park
It is easy to spend there a whole day. A large landscaped area and a lot of various entertainments for children and adults will help you not to get bored. An observation wheel, a boat station, children’s playgrounds, a dance floor, sports grounds, a skate park – all this is only a small part of the possible leisure activities. In the park there are bike paths and a rental services.
I don’t go there often to be honest. But the park is very very close whenever to a souvenir market on Partizanskaya metro station. And whenever the weather is nice and I have enough of free time I stroll through the alleys of the park and enjoy the nature. So if you are going to the souvenir market too and you have enough free time then do go to the park too.
