Wild Boar Hunts

Wild boar hunting is our specialty and a year round sporting activity at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge. Our area of the low country produces prime habitat for wild hogs which include both Feral and Russian strained hogs. Wild hogs harvested at Cypress Creek typically range from 100lbs to 250lbs, with some hogs being harvested weighing in over 400lbs.

Wild hogs here at Cypress Creek are all free ranging and are native to the area. Our swamp land areas along with planted seasonal food plots and supplemental corn feedings aid in attracting and keeping our wild hog close to our stands.

You will be hunting from comfortable elevated tower stands, ladder stands, and tripod stands equipped with rifle rests; open ladder and loc-on stands are also used to accommodate pistol and bow hunters. Stands are strategically placed throughout the property over food sources or travel corridors providing our hunters the best opportunities possible. Hunters may harvest 2 hogs per day weighing at least 50lbs or greater.

  • 2 Hogs per hunter per day*   Skinning/Quartering  $60. per hog…. head mounts + $20 each…debone + $20 each

Welcome to  HAWGS-R-US , we hope you enjoy our site. Our little piece of "hawg heaven" is located just outside Chesterfield, SC.  Here you will find lots of information about our hunt, located in Mt. Crogan, SC as well as some current photos of our facilities and harvests. We look forward to meeting you in person & here to help in any way we can.

Camp address   is  4556 Teals mill rd Chesterfield SC

STC_0640.JPG

We started our hunts in January, 2005. We strive to give our hunters the best possible hunt at an affordable price. Our hunts are still hunt only. All of our stands are safe box stands. All hog hunts are afternoon/night hunts only! Hogs rarely if ever move in the morning so an afternoon hunt is a full day hunt.

We are now offering wild hog and hog/deer combo hunts. We specialize in rifle hunts with an average shot of 100 yards or less. We offer bow hunts as well but, as in any kind of bow hunting, it has a lot more variables and success ratios are much lower. We do not have stands set up for Bow hunting but you are welcome to bring a climber if you wish to bow hunt.

There is a 2 day hunt minimum with more days available if you wish. We cater to our hunter's schedules, with the most popular hunts occurring on Friday and Saturday. We do not over hunt our properties and you will never be put in a stand someone has just hunted. All of our hunts are fair chase hunts, no fences or released game. We don't knock those kinds of hunts since some hunters prefer them, however, our hunts are truly wild hog hunts therefore we cannot offer any guaranteed kills. We are happy to supply you with references to clients that have had successful hunts, as well as those that did not. WE DO NOT LOAD OUR REFERENCES.

We start taking reservations October 1 for January through August hog hunts. We fill the calendar quick so we suggest booking early.

One thing we guarantee is a clean, safe, and fun environment. Our business is built on word of mouth and repeat hunters, you will not see ads for us in magazines. We are proud to say our repeat customers keep us busy but welcome new hunters as well. We feel confident that when you give us a try, you'll become a repeat hunter as well.

Our website is here to keep our hunters up to date on how our hunts are going, as well as information for new hunters, so check back often.  Thanks again for stopping by and feel free to give us a shout.  Be sure to check us out on FACEBOOK at hawgsrus for our latest photos.

Hunt Wild Hogs in South Carolina: The Ultimate Guide to Bag Your Best Trophy

Introduction.

Hunting is a popular outdoor activity in South Carolina and one of the most exciting hunting experiences is wild hog hunting. Wild hogs can be found throughout much of South Carolina, but they are especially common in the Lowcountry and Midlands regions. Hunting these animals requires skill, patience, and preparation.

Know Your Hunting Regulations

Before you begin planning your hunt, it’s important to know the hunting regulations for South Carolina. The state has specific seasons and bag limits for wild hog hunting that vary by region. You’ll also need to have a valid hunting license and any necessary permits before you head out into the field.

Choose Your Equipment Wisely

Wild hogs are tough animals with thick hides that can be difficult to penetrate with low-powered rifles or shotguns. It’s recommended that hunters use high-powered rifles or bows with broadheads when targeting these animals. Additionally, it’s important to wear blaze orange clothing so other hunters can see you in the field.

Pick Your Hunt Location Carefully

South Carolina has many public lands where wild hogs can be hunted, including national forests and wildlife management areas. However, private landowners may also allow hog hunts on their property — sometimes for a fee — so it’s worth exploring those options as well.

Bonus Tip: Consider Hiring A Guide

If this is your first time going after wild hogs or if you’re not familiar with the area where you’ll be hunting, consider hiring an experienced guide who knows what he or she is doing. Guides can provide valuable tips about where to find game, help track an animal once it’s been hit with a bullet or arrow, and ensure your safety while out in the field.

Conclusion: Wild hog hunting is undoubtedly challenging but incredibly rewarding when done right. With some careful planning beforehand, choosing the right equipment and hunt location, as well as taking necessary precautions with regulations will help ensure a successful hog hunting experience in South Carolina.

Did you know our Wild Hogs came here in 1539, brought by Hernando de Soto? Wild hogs directly compete with deer and wild turkey for habitat and food, doing significant damage to the habitat and agricultural production through their rooting activities.

Studies done by Wildlife Researchers, show that hunters need to take 75-80% of the hogs from an area every year to keep the population in check. This is where you come in!

D7BD75C8-893A-4F35-9D83-97C3156C7568

White tail deer are the largest mammals found in South Carolina and the most popular animal to hunt.

Hunting license fees and excise taxes on firearms and ammo fund millions of acres of habitat preservation and improvement. Each year, hunters contribute $7.5 million per day toward conservation. Habitat loss has eroded the natural range of animals while agriculture has increased food supplies—the result is game populations growing out of control. If they’re not hunted, they’ll die of starvation or disease. Proper game management is more important than ever. Not to mention that venison is free of man made intervention, which benefits the mind, body and soul.

wild hog hunting trips in south carolina

Just hunted the Run again and did I nail it with a monster sow. Cant thank Tom and his crew for another awesome hunt they know where the animals are he lives to make every hunt an experience you will remember. I will be back again as always.

I’ve been hunting at Cherokee Run for five years now and have never been disappointed. As a hunter I know fair chase hunting is not a guaranteed harvest, but it’s been pretty close hunting at Cherokee Run. I highly recommend!

South carolina on map, about hunting in south carolina.

South Carolina natives refer to their coastal region as the “Low Country” and the other two regions of the state, the central Piedmont and the Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, as “Up Country.” The coastal region contains salt marshes, estuaries, and bays, many of which hold good populations of waterfowl. Much of the Piedmont region is forested, and the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains soar as high as 3,560 feet. South Carolina has a population of some 730,000 white-tailed deer. Although the state is not known for large-antlered deer, it tends to receive less hunting pressure than many other states in the South, and it has long seasons and generous bag limits. Parts of the state are open for archery and firearm hunting beginning in mid-August, which means it’s one of the few states where rifle hunters have a good chance of taking a buck in the velvet. Most hunting is done from stands, but South Carolina allows deer to be hunted with dogs in some areas. South Carolina was one of the original release points of feral hogs in the United States, when Spanish explorers released them in the coastal region in the 1500s. In the early 1900s, Eurasian wild boars were also released into the mountainous regions of the state. Wild hogs have spread and an estimated population of 150,000 can be found throughout most areas of South Carolina. Wild hogs are not protected in South Carolina and there is no closed season or bag limit on private land. As many as 35,000 pigs are taken by hunters in some years. South Carolina has huntable black bear populations in two regions, the mountains and upper piedmont, and in the coastal plain. Depending on the season, bears are hunted with and without dogs. Alligators may be hunted in South Carolina and tags are available through an annual drawing. With a generous bag limit of three gobblers per season, South Carolina is also an excellent destination for hunting Eastern wild turkeys. Hunters must wear blaze orange when hunting deer on public land in South Carolina. For more information on South Carolina hunting regulations, see http://www.dnr.sc.gov/hunting.html .
