In late 1983, after completing his first solo tour, Phil hit the road for a brief stint as Robert Plant’s drummer on Plant’s very own first solo outing. The King Biscuit Flower Hour captured three nights from this tour and edited them together for a huge four LP radio show which aired over consecutive weekends in early 1984.

Here is a listing of the only known radio broadcast show recorded during this tour:.

robert plant tour 1984

Robert Plant (with Phil Collins) King Biscuit Flower Hour #KB-508 / 509:

D.i.r. broadcasting corporation / abc rock radio network records, recorded live at the summit, houston, texas, the frank erwin center, austin, texas, the reunion arena, dallas, texas – 20/21/22 september 1983, original broadcast –, part i: 29 january 1984 part ii: 5 february 1984, pre-fm quadruple vinyl lp set.

This is the only known professional recording in existence from this brilliant tour. A four album, two-part set of vinyl broadcast discs recorded over the course of three nights in Texas, with Phil playing drums on this show and short tour. No cover art as such exists as the album covers were plain white sleeves since the set was meant to be played once for broadcast and then discarded. Extremely rare and hard to find. (There is actually a Seller on eBay who was asking $5,500 for each part of the set!) Contains original commercial blocks and DJ introductions by King Biscuit regular contributor, Bill Minkin. Incomplete capture.

Unlike most KBFH shows on vinyl, this set has music on all four sides. (Typically, these shows contained music on only sides A, B and C, with Side D being blank.) In this case, Side D of Part I contains a special live version of In The Mood , which was meant to be utilized by radio stations as a promotional teaser prior to the broadcast date for the show. Part II Side D contains a special live version of the song Big Log , also to be utilized for the same promotional purposes.

I recently picked up a copy of Part I of this vinyl set for my personal collection from a Seller on eBay for only $25!  Clearly this Seller did not realize the value of what they were selling. The remaining images, which are featured in the gallery to the right, come from a torrent copy which included scans of the Cue Sheets and some of the LP labels.

Robert Plant (with Phil Collins) The Best Of The Biscuit:

1 july 1984 , pre-fm double vinyl lp set.

This is a two LP Best Of King Biscuit show featuring songs from the above listed Texas recordings, repackaged for broadcast in July of ’84. This set does not contain any pre-broadcast music on Side D.

I do not have this item in my collection; information obtained via Discogs.

robert plant tour 1984

Since Led Zeppelin, from solo Japan tour of Robert Plant, which became the Japan tour of the first time in 12 years, the Osaka Festival Hall concert February 20, 1984, in the ultra-high-quality stereo sound board recording about 90 minute recording. Officials makes it to reproduce the direct recording, ’84 solo concert in Japan that was great in the official level of the best stereo sound board recording of than recorded master cassette (90 minutes tape) in the PA desk. Album “Pictures At Eleven,” “The Principle Of Moments” is allowed to steadily hit all over the world the, ’84 of HONNY DRIPPERS name of the album is also a great success, first solo that have been made at a time when it has been very fulfilling as a solo – as the best sample of the World tour, it is one that I would like to hear a lot of plant-fan, and the Zep fan. Magnificent vocal performance that was full of confidence as a solo artist of the plant throughout, listen meet enough. In addition, it is a great guitar work decorate the whole Robbie Blunt, also one of the drumming is also listening stations a cut of Richie Hayward of the original Little Feat to support the whole exceptional technique. Reverse point of cassette tape can be found in the middle of the Horizontal Departure, but otherwise it has been recorded in the non-cut. The only sound board outflow sound source from this new “HONG KONG 1984” Japan tour in February 1984 that were made before performances. The name sound source in history, Come and enjoy this opportunity.

★ This is a review summary of beatleg magazine vol.46 (Issue May 2004). In case you’re wondering.

Faster than those from the Japan tour, which has been incorporated as part of the first full-fledged solo tour of Robert Plant, had passed years of more than 20 years. “Pictures At Eleven,” “The Principle Of Moments,” such as two solo albums, and while I feel the end of the subject of Led Zeppelin in this solo tour, fan that attempts to find a secretly new possibilities I should have not a few. However, two solo albums as well, precisely because this solo tour also Robert Plant is was something that had a strong will, fall of the great Led Zeppelin Fan of was violently Itaitashika~tsu would be fact . This item is that of to have been recorded in direct from the master cassette was recorded February 20, 1984 the Osaka Festival Hall performance of (month) in the PA desk, has become the sound quality superb stereo sound board sound source . Since the audience cheers is almost off state, but lacks the sense of realism, because it is only this high-quality sound complaining would not say. And, even try to re-listen again at such a great sound quality, performance itself is not never bad, still at that time is bad indescribably aftertaste Robert Plant also for but the audience was also much dragged the specter of Led Zeppelin it will be in that became a concert. Little Feat Richie Hayward of the drum hear things.
