Global Champions has announced the calendar for the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL team series today. The 2024 season promises to be a heart-pounding journey across three continents, with 16 iconic destinations featuring the return of fan favourites like Shanghai and a spectacular new destination in Abu Dhabi.

The electrifying 2024 LGCT season will kick off from 29 February with the season opener taking place in Doha. An adrenaline-filled year follows, with the Championship Race full steam ahead to the Finale blasting off on 20 November with the GC Playoffs in Riyadh.

Heading to Miami Beach (03-06 April) and Mexico City (11-14 April) before the tour returns to Shanghai for the first time in four years at a brand new stadium of Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Center . Located at the Expo Park in the Pudong New Area, the centre is China’s first permanent professional equestrian competition venue.

When returning from China the European tour kicks off in Madrid from 17-19 May. Covering 14 countries, fans will be able to enjoy an array of destinations from the vibrant streets of Paris to the historic charm of Rome, the global circuit is set to captivate a worldwide audience for the 18th LGCT season. Prepare for an international journey like no other as Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL promise to be even more breathtaking with world-class venues meticulously chosen for their unique and iconic capital cities, as well as spectacular Riviera destinations.

Presenti alla conferenza Alessandro Onorato , Assessore ai Grandi Eventi, Sport, Turismo e Moda di Roma Capitale, la Senatrice Isabella Rauti, Sottosegretario di Stato al Ministero della Difesa, il Senatore Claudio Barbaro, Sottosegretario di Stato al Ministero dell'Ambiente, l'On. Roma vive un momento d’oro, a volte se ne accorgono di più all’estero. Dopo il no alle Olimpiadi sono tornati i grandi eventi che contribuiscono a un’immagine contemporanea della nostra città. Riuscire a comunicare questa passione per l’equitazione e veicolare la nostra bellezza è il volano su cui dobbiamo investire. Il fatto che questo appuntamento sia a Roma è molto importante. È un grande appuntamento sportivo che ha una valenza unica per le romane e i romani perché gratuito”.

Le parole di Barbaro

Sen. Claudio Barbaro, Sottosegretario di Stato al Ministero dell'ambiente e della sicurezza energetica: “Parto dal mio legame storico personale con questa manifestazione che mi ha visto in passato come rappresentante dell’ASI e oggi come rappresentante del Ministero dell’ambiente. Sono felice che a differenza del passato esista per la prima volta nel nostro Paese una delega sulla sostenibilità sportiva. Siamo alle prese con l’organizzazione di Milano-Cortina. Esiste un criterio che stiamo cercando di attribuire a ogni attività produttiva, si tratta dei criteri ambientali minimi. A tale proposito stiamo ragionando su degli eventi campione per testare questi criteri in vista dell’Olimpiade invernale e la tappa romana del Global Champions Tour è stata scelta come tester di sostenibilità dalla prossima edizione” .

Rauti: "Non c'è una cornice migliore di Roma"

Sen. Isabella Rauti, Sottosegretario di Stato al Ministero della Difesa: “Il binomio tra l’uomo e il cavallo è un dato storico e imprescindibile, dal lavoro, al trasporto fino all’impegno militare e di carattere storico. Non possiamo immaginare un passato senza questo connubio inscindibile. Sono molto contenta che non mancheranno i caroselli sia dei Carabinieri sia dei Lancieri di Montebello. Non c’è una cornice migliore e una città più vocata per ospitare questo evento e l’Esercito se ne sente parte”.

Le parole degli onorevoli Frassinetti e Mollicone

On. Paola Frassinetti, Sottosegretario al Ministero dell’Istruzione e del Merito: “Ringrazio tutti per questo invito, in particolar modo Eleonora Di Giuseppe con la quale da molti anni faccio le mie battaglie per il cavallo, che deve essere paragonato a un animale di affezione, perché non dobbiamo guardare la sua stazza, ma l’empatia che con l’uomo. Il cavallo è un amico dell’uomo sotto molti aspetti, pensiamo alla pet therapy e ai benefici che i ragazzi ne traggono. La mia attività legislativa è sempre stata a favore di questo animale e di tutti gli animali. È infine importante sottolineare che il cavallo deve essere sempre messo in sicurezza e che venga salvaguardato quando si organizzano queste manifestazioni”. On. Federico Mollicone, Presidente Commissione Cultura, Scienza e Istruzione alla Camera: “Grazie agli organizzatori di aver voluto portare qui al Circo Massimo questo evento nel luogo che storicamente ha un rapporto secolare con il cavallo. Il cavallo e Roma sono un binomio unico: basta ricordare il Marco Aurelio al Campidoglio. Credo che questo appuntamento sia l’esempio di come debba essere valorizzato il Circo Massimo”.

Svetlana Celli: "Il LGCT evento d'eccezione"

Svetlana Celli, Presidente Assemblea Capitolina Roma Capitale: “Siamo stati presenti le scorse edizioni, ci siamo e ci saremo per i benefici che il Longines Global Champions Tour porta alle tante persone che decidono di passare qui o di portare qualcuno per vedere un evento d’eccezione in una cornice straordinaria. Ringrazio gli organizzatori per la forza, il coraggio e l’impegno di continuare a credere ai benefici di questa manifestazione. È presente elite di questo sport, ma ci sono numerose attività ludiche e la possibilità di far salire i più piccoli in sella. Inoltre la possibilità di accedere in maniera assolutamente gratuita per i tre giorni va nella direzione dei grandi eventi che vogliamo che Roma accolta. Insieme ai dipartimenti, alle interforze: regione, ministero siamo pronti ad unire le forze perché Roma diventi la città dei sì. Luoghi aperti e fruibili per tutti”.

"Evento internazionale e gratuito"

Fabio Pacciani, Direttore Edilizia Monumentale Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali: “Siamo ben lieti di ospitare per la terza volta questa manifestazione al Circo Massimo. Abbiamo l’onere di mantenere fruibile questo sito alla cittadinanza”. Alessandro Cochi, Uffici Assessorato Sport Regione Lazio: “Questo è un evento internazionale, gratuito, popolare ed elegante firmato Longines. Lo sport insegna a essere uniti, un evento pluridisciplinare e collegato adeventi socialmente utili come quello portato dall’Asi in favore dei detenuti o il cavallo come pet therapy per i bambini affetti da autismo. Lo sport è cultura e movimento ed aumenta il turismo, il pil della città e della nazione stessa” .

L'organizzazione del LGCT Roma

Eleonora di Giuseppe, coordinatrice italiana del LGCT Roma: “Pensare che grazie al supporto di tutti, a questa sinergia tra Roma capitale e i membri di governo competenti, riportiamo un po’ di storia all’interno del Circo Massimo. Riportiamo al Circo Massimo quelle attività per cui questo luogo era stato in antico deputato: perciò spettacoli con i cavalli, attività sportiva con i cavalli ma lo facciamo con una consapevolezza in più, ossia il valore del sito dunque ma anche con la consapevolezza sociale del cavallo”. Marco Danese, Direttore Sportivo del circuito LGCT: “Roma non può o non deve mancare in futuro. Noi abbiamo 16 tappe in paesi europei ed extra. Roma è presente in maniera meravigliosa e la maggior parte dei nostri atleti vengono a Roma con le famiglie e i collaboratori che hanno piacere a godere della bella di Roma. Ci sono i primi dieci cavalieri al mondo, ma in tanti vengono per il piacere di passare un week end a Roma con le famiglie, con gli amici. Dal punto di vista sportivo c’è in corso una grande battaglia sia per la classifica della Lega che per quella individuale, ma il livello è talmente alto che è difficile prevedere chi possa essere il vincitore. Le condizioni tecniche ci sono tutte, il terreno, il clima e il contorno. Cercheremo di rappresentare il top dello spettacolo, ma a questi i livelli i binomi lo garantiscono sempre. Abbiamo inoltre, in parallelo, un 2* la mattina, che permette ai meno esperti di vivere una palestra unica. Infine diamo la possibilità a tutti gli allievi delle scuole di equitazione di Roma di sedere in una parte riservata della tribuna e di ascoltare tramite gli auricolari i commenti tecnici d i campioni italiani e stranieri e di entrare in campo per verificare da vicino le difficoltà e i dettagli dei percorsi” .

The 2022 edition of the Longines Global Champions Tour makes a stop in Rome again. The ‘Formula 1 of Show Jumping’  takes place from 2 to 4 September, included among the Great City Events of Roma Capitale. Entrance is free for all competitions and shows.

The 7th edition of the Longines Global Champios Tour in Rome

For the seventh consecutive year, the Longines Global Champions Tour is offering fans and onlookers in Rome a spectacular three-day event with 15 competitions (9 in the CSI2*, 6 in the CSI5*) that will host 122 athletes representing 24 countries from all continents and more than 200 horses, with a prize pool of 650,000 euro.

Thirteenth stop of the season and third last act of the tour, Rome celebrates the world’s elite of show jumping: many champions have arrived to compete in the two top competitions of the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League, starting with the Swedish world number one Henrik Von Eckermann , double gold medallist at the last World Championships in Herning , to the Olympic champion for Tokyo 2020 , the British champion Ben Maher , and the current circuit leader, the German Christian Ahlmann , to the winner of the 2021 edition, the Sweden Peder Fredricson , currently number 3 in the world ranking.
