The Weeknd has announced European and Latin American dates for his After Hours Til Dawn tour, which belatedly wrapped its North American leg in Los Angeles over the weekend. Next year’s dates begin on June 10 of next year in Manchester, UK at Etihad Stadium. The newly announced European leg of the tour spans 21 cities and continues with six dates in Latin America’s most popular destinations before wrapping up in Santiago, Chile on Oct. 15 at the Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. Additional 2023 dates will be announced soon.

The After Hours Til Dawn tour supports the Weeknd’s 2020 chart-topping album “After Hours,” as well as his fifth studio album “Dawn FM,” which was released in January this year. Kaytranada and Mike Dean will be joining the Weeknd on all European dates.

Ticket holders will receive souvenir NFTs, powered by Binance, as well as gain access to an exclusive NFT collection for the tour, in collaboration with HXOUSE. Five percent of the sales from the upcoming tour NFT collection will be donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund.

Tickets for the European shows go on sale starting Friday, Dec. 2 at 12 p.m. local time. Fans who purchased tickets for 2022 After Hours Arena Tour in Europe can register for presale access to the 2023 dates. Visit the EU FAQ page for any questions.

Tickets for Colombia shows go on sale starting Dec. 3 at 9 a.m. local time. Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Argentina tickets go on sale for shows in Mexico (at 2 p.m. local time), Brazil (at 10 a.m. local time) and Chile (at 11 a.m. local time) starting Thursday, December 8th. The Weeknd has announced a string of 2023 European and Latin American tour dates for his upcoming 2023 After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour.

The Diamond-certified artist’s announcement comes as an expansion of his recently-concluded North American tour. The European leg of the shows will kick off on June 10 in Manchester, UK at Etihad Stadium. Other stops include shows in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and more. The tour ends on October 15 in Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.

Kaytranada and Mike Dean will join The Weeknd on all European dates.  More dates for 2023 will be announced soon, according to a press statement.

The Weeknd’s North American tour generated $130 million, including a $5 million check the artist donated to charity.

According to the press statement, “United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye will again partner with the U.N. World Food Programme to contribute funds from the second leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. €1 from each ticket sold across Europe, £1 in the UK and the $1 equivalent in countries across Latin America will go to this important cause.

“The fund raised money during the North American leg of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour t-shirt, and a $500,000 donation directly from The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s corporate partners, tour venues, World Food Program USA board of directors and supporters also stepped up to contribute, as well as tour sponsor Binance, who contributed US$2 million to the fund.

The upcoming tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album, After Hours ( hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as his critically-acclaimed album Dawn FM , which was released January 2022.

The Weeknd adds three new shows to 2023 UK, European and Latin America tour

Abel Tesfaye adds new dates in London, Paris and Nice to this ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour leg

The Weeknd has added new shows in London, Paris and Nice to his recently announced ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour for 2023 in the UK, Europe and Latin America.

Days after announcing the new leg of the tour, Abel Tesfaye has added fresh dates in London as well as Paris and Nice in France. The new London date will take place at London Stadium on July 8, the day after his first show there on July 7. He will also perform at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester on June 10 as well as Marlay Park in Dublin on June 28.

In Nice, he will perform at the Allianz Riviera over the weekend of July 22-23 and then two shows at the Stade de France in Paris the following weekend. He will be accompanied by Kaytranada and Mike Dean on most dates of the tour.

Tickets for the UK and European tour will go on sale Friday (December 2) at 12pm GMT and can be purchased here . A pre-sale began on Wednesday (November 30).

Following the European dates, the tour will call at several venues in Latin America including Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and more before wrapping up in Santiago, Chile on October 15 at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. For tickets head here .

Meanwhile, The Weeknd is set to star in his new series The Idol co-created with Euphoria  helmer Sam Levinson.

Tesfaye himself will star as a self-help guru, club owner and leader of a modern-day cult who begins dating an up-and-coming pop artist played by  Lily-Rose Depp . The series will also see  BLACKPINK‘s   Jennie  make her acting debut in the series.

He also recently said he’s considering removing his compilation album ‘Trilogy’ from streaming services.

The Weeknd announced the dates for the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn global stadium tour on Monday morning (Nov. 28). The run of shows is slated to kick off at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, UK on June 10 with support from Kaytranada and Mike Dean and then move on to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, the Czech Republic and Poland before wrapping in Estonia on August 12.

The completely sold out North American leg of the stadium tour was an incredible success breaking attendance records and grossing over $130 million dollars to date.

After Hours Til Dawn Stadium Tour continues through new year

The Weeknd has announced 2023 dates for the expansion of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour. The next leg of the tour will kick off Saturday, June 10th in Manchester, UK at Etihad Stadium, with stops across Europe and Latin America in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and more before wrapping up in Santiago, Chile on Sunday, October 15th at Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida. Additional 2023 dates will be announced soon.

The completely sold out North American leg of the stadium tour was an incredible success breaking attendance records and grossing over $130 million dollars to date.

Tickets for the European shows go on sale starting Friday, December 2nd at noon local time. Fans who purchased tickets for the 2022 After Hours Arena Tour in Europe can register for presale access to the 2023 dates.

Tickets for Colombia shows go on sale starting Saturday, December 3rd at 9 am local time.

Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Argentina tickets go on sale for shows in Mexico at 2 pm local time, Brazil at 10 am local time and Chile at 11am local time starting Thursday, December 8th. On sale information will be announced soon for Argentina.

United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will again partner with the UN World Food Programme to contribute funds from the second leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. €1 from each ticket sold across Europe, £1 in the UK and the $1 equivalent in countries across Latin America will go to this important cause. The fund raised money during the North American leg of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour t-shirt, and a $500,000 donation directly from The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s corporate partners, tour venues, World Food Program USA board of directors and supporters also stepped up to contribute, as well as tour sponsor Binance, who contributed US$2 million to the fund. The first grant of $2 million will be going to provide emergency food and nutrition assistance to the most food-insecure regions of Ethiopia.

Ticket holders receive souvenir NFTs as well as gain access to an exclusive NFT collection for The Weeknd’s tour, in collaboration with HXOUSE, a think-center and community incubator for creative entrepreneurs. Five percent of the sales from the upcoming tour NFT collection will be donated to the XO Humanitarian Fund.

The Weeknd Adds 2023 Tour Dates

Just one day after bringing the first leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to a close, the Weeknd has announced even more tour dates to come in the new year. The second leg begins in June 2023, and the trek runs through Europe and Latin America. Check out the Weeknd’s schedule below.

The Weeknd released his fifth studio album, Dawn FM , in January. The album was withheld from consideration for the 2023 Grammy Awards , continuing a boycott that started in 2021 after the Weeknd’s previous album, After Hours , failed to receive any Grammy nominations. Despite the boycott, the Weeknd won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his contributions to the Kanye West song “Hurricane.”

The Weeknd announces 2023 european dates for his “after hours till dawn” stadium tour!

The Weeknd has just made a thrilling announcement for his fans across Europe. He will be embarking on a highly-anticipated European tour, including a stop at the prestigious King Baudouin stadium in Brussels, Belgium, on July 11, 2023.

After the unfortunate postponement of his world tour, which initially included Antwerp’s Sportpaleis for 2022, The Weeknd has resurfaced with an even grander plan. The Canadian artist is determined to deliver a stadium-sized show. This 27-date tour will kick off in Manchester on June 10 and conclude in Estonia on August 12, before moving on to South America. Supporting the singer on this tour will be none other than Grammy-nominated artists Kaytranada and Mike Dean .

The Weeknd Announces The After Hours European Tour dates

The Weeknd has announced his new headline world tour, The After Hours Tour, on the heels of his upcoming album, After Hours. American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets in select markets before the general public beginning Tuesday, February 25 at 9am local time. Regular ticket on-sale begins Friday, February 28 at 9am local time at LiveNation.co.uk.

The After Hours Tour will showcase state of the art production and one of the most innovative stage designs to date, containing the most LED lights and video for an arena show. Produced by Live Nation, the world tour will hit cities across United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France with support from 88GLAM and Sabrina Claudio across Europe.

The After Hours Tour boasts new state-of-the-art production and innovative stage designs. The 57-date tour takes the R&B star around the globe, with stops in US, Canada, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France with support from Sabrina Claudio and Don Toliver in the US, and 88GLAM and Sabrina Claudio in Europe.

Pre-sale for the tour begins beginning Tuesday, 25 February at 10am local time (9am local time for UK/EU) through Thursday, 27 February at 10pm local time. General ticket sales begin Friday, 28 February at 10am local time for North America and 9am local time for UK and EU.

Prior to announcing the tour, The Weeknd shared the title track from his upcoming fourth studio album After Hours , as well as revealing its cover art and release date of 20 March. Along with the album pre-order, the singer also shared new exclusive After Hours merch .

For all North American dates, each ticket purchased online comes with one CD of The Weeknd’s new album and all purchases of the album or album bundles via the UK webstore also give priority access to pre-sale tickets for the upcoming UK and EU tour dates.

On 7 March, The Weeknd will perform as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live , and debut some of his new tracks.

THE WEEKND GOES ON A WORLD TOUR – ONE STOP IN SWEDEN

Today the diamond certified and award winning artist The Weeknd confirms the date for his upcoming tour ”After Hours til Dawn”! The next stage of the tour starts in the UK before he moves on to the rest of Europe en finishes in Latin America. On Saturday June 17 and 18 2023,  The Weeknd comes to Tele2 Arena in Stockholm for two long-awaited concerts!

The North American part of the stadium tour was an incredible success which hit attendance record after attendance record and ended up completely sold out. The tour has since made over 130 million dollars. 

UN:s World Food Program Foodwill Ambassador, Abel “ The Weeknd ” Tesfaye, will once again collaborate with the UN:s World Food Program through contributions from the other part of the tour to XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports organizations response to the global hunger crisis. 1€ from every ticket sold in Europe, 1 GBP in UK and the equivalent in 1 USD in countries across Latin America will go to towards this important cause.  The fund raised money during the North American part of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour T-shirt and a $500 000 donation directly from The Weeknd. Even The Weeknd's business partners, the arenas and the board at World Food Program USA contributed. As did tour sponsor Binance, which contributed $2 million to the fund. The first grant of $2 million will provide emergency food and nutrition assistance to the most food insecure regions of Ethiopia.

The tour celebrates The Weeknds album “After Hours ” from 2020 (hit single “Blinding Lights” was #1 on Billboards Hot 100 of all time and passed Chubby Checkers hit ” The Twist” from 1960). The tour also takes place in conjuntion with the critically acclaimed album ”Dawn FM”, that was released in January 2022. Kaytranada and Mike Dean will be supporting acts on all the European dates on the tour.

”After Hours til Dawn ”-tour is operated by Binance, the global the blockchain ecosystem behind the world's biggest cryptocurrency exchange, that brings Web 3.0-technology to concert goes all over the world. This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.

The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.

As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

European cities hope jet-setting Taylor Swift fans will splash the cash for Eras tour

The superstar arrives in Europe next month – and Swifties, tourist boards and venues are already preparing

T im Brown, 44, and his wife, Marcella, 34, may not consider themselves bona fide “Swifties”, but when it was announced last June that Taylor Swift would be visiting their corner of the globe this summer they could not resist joining the scramble for a pair of tickets.

A post-pandemic appetite for live music events has fuelled huge worldwide interest in the American singer-songwriter’s Eras tour, which surpassed in $1bn sales in November to become the highest-grossing series of concerts in history.

The pop culture event of the summer will arrive in Europe next month, kicking off in Paris on 9 May and wrapping up in London on 20 August with 49 dates in between in Sweden, Ireland, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

The unique nature of the tour’s ticketing system, which was tweaked after a number of hitches last year, means there will be a mass movement of travelling fans who will not only be Swiftie in affiliation but swift-like in their willingness to travel across the continent.

In expectation of intense demand, Ticketmaster introduced a pre-registration system that rewarded some early applicants with access codes to the ticket sale proper, via staggered windows for each city.

Notionally designed to prioritise genuine fans over “scalpers” – people who buy and resell tickets for a quick profit – the pre-sales system also meant many fans registered for tickets in multiple destinations across Europe to increase their chances.

Tim and Marcella, who live in Norwich, registered not just for the nearest concerts – in London and Liverpool – but also in Amsterdam and Lisbon. The pair got lucky with a pair of €91 tickets in the Portuguese capital and have turned the trip into a weekend break. “I used to live in Lisbon so I thought why not kill two birds with one stone,” Tim said. “We booked ourselves flights and four nights’ accommodation the same day.” They are far from alone.

Katie Soo, the chief business officer of DICE, a rival ticketing company, said: “The excitement and uncertainty inherent in the ticket-purchasing process might have inadvertently incentivised fans to apply for tickets in multiple cities, thereby increasing the likelihood of travelling across Europe to attend the concerts.”

Hotel prices

Several European cities have already reported a sharp rise in demand for hotel and short-term rental accommodation over the summer, when the Swift hurricane will arrive. In Edinburgh, Liverpool and Cardiff, rooms at the Travelodge chain around Swift’s June dates have been sold out since August 2023, a month after tickets for the shows went on sale.

In Paris, where fans anticipate Swift to debut an updated version of the Eras show with songs from the new Tortured Poets Department album, 80% of hotels and apartments listed on Booking.com are already full up. In Warsaw on 2 August, only 9% of hotels listed on the same site are still available.

Not all of the 18 cities covered by the Eras tour are obvious tourism destinations. From 17-19 July, Swift will play three concerts at the 65,000-capacity home ground of the football club Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen in Ruhr valley, western Germany. The city’s less-than-familiar name prompted one US chatshow host to quip that “the place might not even exist”.

Yet even in Germany’s rust belt the influx of Swift fans is temporarily transforming the hotel market: any two-bedroom apartments that remain available are going for €800-2,000 a night, with cheaper accommodation available only in surrounding cities that are just as off the usual tourist track as Gelsenkirchen, such as Essen, Bochum or Herne.

Cities with stricter rules on allowing Airbnb-style holiday lets and a more limited stock of short-term rental apartments are reporting a particularly marked increase in rates during Swift’s visit, with about 30% year-on-year spikes in rental rates in Cardiff, Edinburgh and Milan, according to AirDNA, a data analytics company specialising in the short-term rentals market.

Of all the tour’s European stops, Vienna is experiencing the most notable impact on its rental market, with booking rates for the nights of Swift’s concerts recorded in February 44% higher than at the same point the previous year. By the end of March the number of nights booked in the Austrian capital for the length of Swift’s stay in the second week of August had risen by 430% compared with the same period in 2023.

When Luke Tilden’s wife, Tatjana, suggested last summer that the couple buy their 13- and 15-year-old daughters, Lena and Maya, tickets to a Taylor Swift gig for Christmas, the 53-year-old Briton initially waved it off. “There’s no chance in hell we’d get a ticket without paying through our noses, I thought,” said Tilden, who works as an interpreter at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

But after pre-registering for tickets in London, Paris and Munich, the Tildens got unexpectedly lucky for four tickets in southern Germany and have turned the concert visit into a mini-holiday: “We’ll visit the in-laws in Bavaria, enjoy the countryside, do a bit of hiking.”

The hope in cities across Europe is that this will be replicated on a massive scale, with fans’ excitement translating into generous spending sprees on food, shopping and leisure. In Stockholm, for example, where authorities are expecting 159,000 visitors to arrive from 135 countries in mid-May, the chamber of commerce has forecast a spending boost of €50m. “We hope the whole town will buzz from the Eras tour,” said Tomas Andersson, a spokesperson for the Swedish capital’s tourism board.

Whether fans will necessarily act like ordinary tourists, however, is up for debate. “Pop-culture tourists do not necessarily care about traditional buildings and authentic restaurants,” said Maria Lexhagen, a professor at the European Tourism Research Institute, Mid Sweden University.

“Joining up with other fan communities is stronger motivation, as is the idea that they might get closer to the stars themselves. Many of them will map out where Swift is spending her time in the city – they will seek out seemingly marginal but meaningful places like back alleys or coffee shops.” Venues may be hoping for a repeat of Sydney in February, when Swift swept into an unassuming Italian restaurant in the suburbs and sent its name into global media headlines.

In Stockholm the tourism board said it was expecting bookshops and secondhand clothes stores, rather than museums and royal palaces, to attract most of the arriving visitors. Some venues are being proactive: one restaurant within walking distance of the multipurpose Friends Arena in the Solna municipality is putting on a “Taylor Swift brunch experience” with a karaoke stage; the waterfront nightclub Debaser is hosting a pre-concert party on 16 May, an all-ages all-day party with a Swift-themed quiz on 19 May and an afterparty the day after.

Environment

As the Swift circus rolls across the continent, the transport infrastructure of urban centres will also be put to the test. Around the tour’s three-night stop in Dublin at the end of June, Irish Rail has announced additional late-night services to Cork and Limerick to meet an expected increase in demand. Extra tram and bus services are likely to be announced nearer the time.

Unlike rail operators, most airlines do not have capacity to charter additional flights. Due to yield management – airlines adjusting prices based on expected demand – a scramble for airborne journeys into cities that host the Eras tour is more likely to result in more expensive tickets rather than additional flights.

Officials at Lisbon airport said no additional flights had been chartered around Swift’s concerts on 24 and 25 May but that demand would probably be reflected in slightly higher load factors. A spokesperson for Amsterdam Schiphol said general aviation slots could be requested at short notice but nothing out of the ordinary had been logged so far.

Calculating the environmental impact of the tour with any certainty was difficult, experts said. “We can expect that some Swift fans will travel a long way to see one, if not several, shows across Europe”, said Stefan Gössling, a professor of tourism at Linnaeus University in Kalmar, Sweden. “But measuring the environmental impact of these trips is extremely difficult – it would involve a lot of guesswork.”

This did not mean the carbon footprint was negligible. “Every flight taken by a person adds to demand and hence influences supply considerations,” Gössling said. “The greater the demand, the more aircrafts are in service.”

The pop star’s carbon footprint is easier to estimate. Swift owns two jets by the French manufacturer Dassault, whose journeys are trackable. During the 2023 leg of the Eras tour, Swift’s planes spent 166 hours crisscrossing the US in about 75 individual journeys, though it is possible they were used by people other than the singer.

According to data available through the open-access aviation tracker ADS-B exchange, Swift’s jets caused carbon emissions of about 2,830 tonnes of CO 2 equivalent over the course of the US Eras tour – about 1,700 times the annual contribution of an average person.

A spokesperson for Swift told US media last year that in advance of the tour’s start in March 2023, the pop star bought more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel. Carbon offset credits are tradable certificates that allow purchasers to compensate for emissions by investing in environmental projects that claim to reduce carbon emissions, though recent studies have questioned the efficacy of these schemes.

Families of Manchester Bombing Victims File Lawsuit Against MI5

The suit comes after an independent public inquiry said the 2017 bombing at an Ariana Grande concert was a “significant missed opportunity” for the U.K. spy agency.

Hundreds of survivors of the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing attack have filed a lawsuit against the British government intelligence agency MI5, their lawyers said.

Three lead firms — Hudgell Solicitors, Slater & Gordon and Broudie Jackson Canter — said in a statement on Sunday that they were representing more than 250 victims of the bombing and family members of those killed, and have submitted a group claim to the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, an independent judicial body that hears complaints against Britain’s intelligence services.

“As it is an ongoing legal matter, we are unable or provide any further details, or comment further, at this stage,” the group statement said.

The lawsuit comes a year after an independent public inquiry found that MI5, the domestic security service, failed to act on two pieces of critical intelligence about the bomber that could have prevented the atrocity.

It appears to be the first time MI5 has been sued for its failure to prevent a terror attack, a maneuver that is sure to be legally and bureaucratically complicated should the tribunal accept the case.

Holding security services accountable for failures is notoriously difficult. Families of victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks in America have tried for two decades, as part of a lawsuit against the Saudi Arabian government, to obtain more information on the F.B.I.’s and C.I.A.’s actions leading up to the tragedy, with little success .

Twenty-two people were killed in the attack on May 22, 2017, in which a suicide bomber detonated a powerful homemade explosive near the Manchester Arena exit as throngs of people were leaving an Ariana Grande concert. Hundreds more were injured. It was the deadliest terror attack in the United Kingdom in more than a decade .

The Islamic State later claimed credit for the bombing, which was carried out by Salman Abedi , a 22-year-old adherent of the terror group who had returned to the U.K. from Libya four days before the attack. Not long after his return, he picked up an explosive device that had been stored in a vehicle in Manchester.

The independent public inquiry found in 2023 that the bombing was a “significant missed opportunity” for Britain’s domestic intelligence services, which, the report said, could have intercepted Mr. Abedi had it acted more quickly upon his return from Libya. The agency, the report said, failed to act on two key pieces of intelligence related to Mr. Abedi that could have offered a “realistic possibility” of preventing the attack, though it did not specify what that intelligence was.

“I deeply regret that such intelligence was not obtained,” Ken McCallum, the director of MI5, said at the time . “Gathering covert intelligence is difficult — but had we managed to seize the slim chance we had, those impacted might not have experienced such appalling loss and trauma.” He added that he was “profoundly sorry.”

The lawsuit announced this weekend was filed in the U.K.’s Investigatory Powers Tribunal, the independent judicial body that handles complaints about the country’s security services. Among other things, the panel can assess culpability, issue orders and award compensation.

The Tribunal could not be immediately reached for comment. Asked if MI5 had any comment on the lawsuit, the Home Office pointed to Mr. McCallum’s statement on the independent inquiry released last year.
