One of the things we love most about this particular Bazooka Golf Club set is that it will work for a beginner golfer all the way to a middle handicapper . 

The Bazooka Tour Edge 470 has a really great set makeup with a mix of fairways and hybrids that will have you set with all the golf clubs you will ever need to excel in this game.

Some may eventually add in a lob wedge , but you are undoubtedly fine to get by without it for a while. 

Shaft Options

The Bazooka Golf Clubs do not have any customizable shafts or shaft options. The woods are going to have graphite shafts, and the irons will have a stainless steel shaft in them.

Forgiveness

The sweet spot on the 460 cc driver is quite large. Even if you miss the center of the clubface on the driver, you will get plenty of distance with this golf club. The irons have a very low center of gravity with a wide sole that makes them easy to hit. 

Even the three and five wood have a slightly offset design to help you get the ball headed straight down the middle of the fairway. 

As far as weighting is concerned, the set is a little bit light . If you have a very fast swing speed or are extremely strong, you may want to look into a club set with even more durable stainless steel shafts than these. 

Considering this is a full club set with highly forgiving clubs, including fairway woods and hybrids , the price is pretty incredible.

You will have a hard time finding a better deal than this for the quality that you get with the Tour Edge Bazooka set.

Luckily Tour Edge also allows for custom fit golf clubs but the price point is considerably lower. Most golfers can get irons for a little less than $100 an iron which is something that we typically don’t see from custom golf clubs. 

The fact that Tour Edge golf clubs are slightly less expensive should not be something that keeps you from purchasing this brand. The lower price has nothing to do with the overall quality of the product.

These clubs have a very thin face , which will help you get a little more distance than the clubs you are currently playing with. This set includes a Driver , 3 & 5 wood , 4 Hybrid , 5-SW , and a putter .

So the set makeup is similar to the Tour Edge Bazooka 470, except you get one more iron and one less hybrid. It still comes with steel shafts and a lightweight stand bag.

Callaway Strata Tour

Callaway makes quite a few complete club set options. However, the one that is most similar is the Callaway Strata Tour .

The Tour comes in both a stiff and regular golf shaft , so it is geared for the player that a bit more of an idea as to what their game is capable of. 

Just like the Tour Edge Bazooka, the Callaway comes with a 460cc driver and all the clubs necessary to put together a complete easy to hit set.

The Callaway has the name brand behind it, but the player with more experience should look more at the 470 than the Callaway Strata Tour.

Last is the Cobra Speed Complete Set . The Cobra is a bit more of a premium option than the Tour Edge Bazooka, and because of that, you will pay a bit more money for it.

If you are a mid handicap golfer that is looking for a great value with plenty of forgiveness and performance , the Cobra is a great choice. This set will have a better feel than any of the other options in this review.

Tour Edge's Hot Launch 523 irons and wedges: What you need to know

What you need to know: Tour Edge’s Hot Launch C523 irons and Hot Launch VIBRCOR SuperSpin wedges are designed for golfers who prefer a more classic cavity-back design. The Hot Launch E523 irons and wedges provide plenty of help for the golfer by focusing on ease of getting the ball up in the air or, in the case of the wedges, out of the sand.

Price/Availability: The Hot Launch C523 irons cost $80 per iron while the E523 irons go for $100 per stick. Both wedges cost $90 each. The clubs will be in stores on Nov. 1.

The deep dive: The seventh version of Tour Edge’s Hot Launch series, the C523 and E523 irons (along with two new wedge offerings), are, simply put, clubs designed to make you play better whether it’s delivering clubs to optimize your skills or ones to help mitigate your flaws.

The 431 stainless-steel C523 cavity-back irons and E523 hollow-body hybrid irons offer help in different ways, yet both boast wide soles that lower the center of gravity for higher launch and enough offset to help slicers with shots that tend to go wayward too much.

While generally a more traditional cavity-back design, the C523’s wide sole smooths heavier hits while the 360-degree undercut in the cavity works with extra mass in the toe to enhance moment of inertia for better performance on off-center strikes.

The C523 incorporates a more compact design, thinner topline and sharper high toe than its predecessor. The changes help remove weight from the top line to help lower the CG, thus fostering a higher launch.

The company also continued down the path of using its VIBRCOR high-grade thermoplastic urethane to enhance feel and promote a pleasing sound. First employed in its 522 line of irons, the TPU is placed in the deep undercut pocket to boost perimeter weighting for forgiveness while bolstering speed and enhancing feel. In the 523, even more of the TPU is used to enhance those attributes.

“The VIBRCOR kind of fills the whole cavity, almost making it look like it could be a hollow iron,” said Matt Neeley, Tour Edge’s vice president of product development. “It kind of covers and hides the undercut. Having that thick pad behind face center really helps us from a sound and feel standpoint. It's a nice sounding and performing iron regardless of the price point.”

On the Hot Launch E523 irons, the sole underwent a bit of an overhaul. Although the E522 irons took an aggressive approach to turf interaction by using the company’s “Houdini sole” employed in some of its fairway woods and hybrids to effectively cut through the ground, the protruding heel of the sole was a turn off to some players. As such, Tour Edge pivoted.

“One of the biggest changes is that we pulled the heel and toe of the Houdini sole up,” said Neeley. “Still, we have a lot of weight down there to help get through the turf and get the ball up. We just felt the previous sole might be a bit too extreme for some and by making some adjustments we could make it less noticeable without changing the playing characteristic very much.”

In order to offer more help than the C523, the E523 uses a shallow face height to encourage higher launch while the hollow-body design takes that a step further by placing weight low. The offset design helps counter the slice to some degree, as well. The lofts also are a little weaker than other Tour Edge irons as this player needs more help getting the ball in the air compared to any extra yards that might come from stronger lofts.

The hidden hero, however, is the new back badge. Or more precisely, the removal of it. Now a cap sits over a hollow area filled at the bottom with TPU material (according to Neeley, it is not needed up high) to help dampen the sound, while providing another benefit along with a cleaner look.

“Using the material inside the head made up for not having that super large badge,” said Neeley. “This iron sounds and feels as good as last year’s if not better. The big benefit, however, was that by removing that badge and replacing it with just this little cap, we saved about 8 or 9 grams of weight that we were then able to redistribute low and deep in the head which added about half a degree of launch.”

The shafts also are targeted at helping slower swingers with the super-light UST Mamiya HL-SST graphite shafts that range from 45 to 60 grams depending on the flex a stock offering. The irons also are available in a True Temper’s lightweight XP-85 steel shaft.

The Hot Launch irons extend to E523 wedges. Also still featuring a wide, Houdini sole designed to make bunker escape a breeze, the sole has been slightly slimmed with more camber added to make it less of a strict one-trick pony type of club. The deep undercut in the cavity back design frees up the extra mass that's moved low to provide a higher launch while full-face grooves provide plenty of grab on shots around the green. There’s also a revamped Hot Launch SuperSpin VIBRCOR wedge with CNC milled grooves to provide enough grab and a cambered sole designed to prevent digging. A rear weight pad centralizes weight behind the top portion of the face to keep ball speed up on shots hit high on the face while also adding trajectory control through a slightly higher CG.

Tour Edge Hot Launch E521 Iron Woods Review

Tour Edge is well regarded for its value-driven iron-woods and these are the latest in a long line.

Make no mistake: They’re game-improvement clubs made specifically for slower to mid-swing speeds, just like the Hot Launch E521 driver . Each has a stainless steel, hollow-body clubhead with a super-low-and back CG, shallow and thin cup forged clubface, offset, and extremely lightweight shaft - collectively designed to help get the ball quickly skyward.

Categorized as super game-improvement clubs, these have all the ingredients to help hit long, high and forgiving shots.

For instance, there’s the “Houdini” sole that’s shaped to get balls out of tough lies - reducing turf interaction by 35 percent by moving weight low and deep. Ideally, this leads to fewer skulls and digs.

Next, along with the offset comes heel weighting that adds draw bias: You’ll be hard-pressed to slice shots or frankly even push them right. And of course, the hollow body creates a forgiving and powerful face while making impact feel extra solid.

Some players may not like the bulky look despite the overall performance-friendly shaping. Beware: If you chunk it even slightly, fear the short ball flight that drops quickly from the sky.

But if you nut it the way you’re supposed to, shots are money - high flight with plenty of length. Yet the clubs are intended for golfers who don’t pure shots on a regular basis, which is why the sole aims to help pave the way to cleaner impact.

They’re offered in individual lofts or as a seven-piece set. If you choose the latter, know that they’re available in 3-iron through attack wedge, and you can pick the exact set configuration you want.

The standard graphite shaft is a super-light Mitsubishi Fubuki that either weighs 55 or 60 grams, depending on the flex, with a lower kick point, built to help you generate long shots with a slight draw.

A classic example can be the limited workability of the golf club. Too much forgiveness always translates to too little versatility when it comes to golf club manufacturing.

Players with a high ball and clubhead speeds would find these clubs unacceptable because they’re not looking for forgiveness. They’re looking for cutting-edge technology that can handle their speeds and translate them into performance.

Why Are Tour Edge Clubs Relatively Unheard Of?

The clubs that get advertised most are the ones most frequently used to win a tournament on the PGA Tour. Tour validation is critical regarding how much a golf product sells. 

The most remarkable example that demonstrates this point is that of Nike. The brand took off and crashed on more or less the same trajectory as Tiger Woods’ career. 

He single-handedly took Nike to the top of the golf equipment industry simply because he attained success on the PGA Tour like few others. 

Bridgestone is the latest brand to skyrocket in popularity and sales due to a player’s endorsement and use of it. Again, it’s the ‘GOAT’ Tiger Woods, who has enabled all this. 

With Tour Edge, the story gets complicated. Although it does have Tour validation, and a handful of big names play with Tour Edge equipment, it still needs to have that kind of clout to be a front-runner. 

Final Thoughts: Are Tour Edge Golf Clubs Good?

Tour Edge golf clubs are, without a doubt, one of the very best golf clubs on the market today.  

These golf clubs are especially recommended for high handicappers, ladies, juniors, and seniors because they’re designed with those demographics in mind. 

Their quality is exceeded only by their affordability, which is quite something in the expensive game of golf.  Tour Edge has broken the stereotypical mindset that top quality always comes with top dollar.

The ONE Wedge is built to make the short game easier with a massive sole.  High spin, strong consistency, and a total refusal to dig into the turf.

Introduction

Martin Chuck is one of the top golf coaches in the world and the inventor of some of the best training aids we’ve ever tested.  Best known for the original Tour Striker [review HERE ] and the Educator [review HERE ], he’s now turned his attention to designing a club that can help regular golfers enjoy the short game more.  That club is The ONE Wedge, and I tested a set to see if Martin has a future in club design or should stick to the lesson tee.

Your very first look at The ONE Wedge lets you know this is not your conventional Tour-style wedge .  In the bag, you’ll see a massive sole with “Pitch Control” across the trailing edge and a cavity with numerous levels and textures.

At address, The ONE Wedge has several distinguishing features.  The face is very large and completely covered in grooves .  Between the grooves are lines at 45 degree angles centering on a small vertical groove on the bottom of the face.  That vertical groove is centered on the bottom groove but is heel-biased if you’re looking at the entire club.  Shifting your eyes up, you’ll notice that the top line is not uniform – it’s much thicker on the toe side.  Finally, the hosel has a PING EYE2 look to it – long, tapered, and giving the appearance of onset (the opposite of offset).

Sound & Feel

I was not expecting much from The ONE Wedge when it came to feel, but it surprised me.  On centered impacts, it produces a “thud” at average volume that’s paired with a medium soft feel .  It’s right in the middle of the bell curve – neither a reason to game this wedge or turn it away.

Mishits deliver clear feedback in the form of a slightly louder “knock” at impact and a firmer feel.  While I would not regard the feel feedback as pinpoint, you can tell if you missed thin, toe, or heel.

Performance

The ONE Wedge is not short on features and big promises .  I’d like to spell them out before I get into my testing results.  First is the “4-Way Auto-React Sole” which promises to “react perfectly to any lie” preventing digging and gliding through any surface.  Second is “Pitch Control Weighting,” a promise to forgive shots hit all over the club face.  Feature #3 is the “ONE-Tempo Shaft” which is counterbalanced to “ensure the club head leverages gravity.”  While I think counterbalancing is fine, the copy irks me a bit because I have yet to encounter a club head that didn’t experience gravity.  Fourth is the “Point ‘N’ Shoot Leading Edge” which simply means that the leading edge is square, not round, and they believe this is easier to aim.  Finally, The ONE Wedge has “Control Spin Grooves” all across the face (they are conforming, according to Performance Golf).

Let’s boil all that down without the buzzwords.  The ONE Wedge is counterbalanced, has full-face grooves, a straight leading edge, a cavity back, and a big, wide, rounded sole.

Moving to my testing results, I want to start with the things that surprised me.  Given the enormous sole, I was expecting these wedges to launch extremely high with below average spin.  Wrong and wrong.  The launch angles on each of these wedges was on par with similarly lofted tour-style wedges , and the spin was slightly above average .  Additionally, the numbers were more consistent when compared to traditional wedges.

What did not surprise me – but was still impressive – was the performance of the sole.  It makes this club almost impossible to hit fat .  Even was I was hitting behind the ball intentionally, the sole wanted to glide through the turf.  The disadvantage of this sole is that it’s not built for versatility.  If you try to open the club face, the leading edge lifts significantly, but this is probably not a big concern for the target player.

Finally, The ONE Wedge produced a tight dispersion .  I was hitting shots off the heel and toe that were still flying straight.  For players that want to hit little touch shots and baby fades, this is not the club.  But for golfers that want to take a lot of stress out of the short game, this will fit the bill.

While the statement “Lower your scores 7-9 shots on average” should not be taken seriously, The ONE Wedge should be.  This is a very impressive short game tool geared toward golfers who struggle around the green.  With high spin, tight dispersion, and a sole that refuses to dig, it can turn short game opportunities from gut wrenching to welcome sights.

Most of these super game improvement wedges have similar features, I don’t think anyone is “copying” anyone else.
