Cruises to the Azores
Discover the wild landscapes and rugged green coastline of the awe-inspiring island of Sao Miguel on an Azores cruise. A remote archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, the Azores are part of Portugal and are a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and those seeking rest and relaxation. The diverse topography of these islands provides plenty of outdoor activities, including whale watching, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Hike through volcanic craters, admire picturesque villages, and visit historical sites by the seaside on your visit to Ponta Delgada and its surroundings.
On an Azores cruise, you'll have the opportunity to explore the quaint cobblestone streets and centuries-old Portuguese plazas of Ponta Delgada. Step into the Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres church to see its ornate, Baroque-style interior, or explore the beautiful Palace of the Governors, which was once the home of wealthy aristocrats. For sweeping views of Ponta Delgada and the Atlantic Ocean, take a cable car ride up to Monte Brasil. Uncover centuries of prized Portuguese culture and rich history on a cruise to the Azores with Celebrity.
Azores Cruise Highlights
Awe-inspiring architecture.
Ponta Delgada's architecture represents many layers of Azorean maritime history and culture through its churches, historic homes, and squares. Walk through the plaza at the iconic Portas da Cidade (City Gates), a symbolic entrance to Ponta Delgada dating back to the 18th century. Explore the Parish Church of Sao Sebastiao with its beautiful tiled exterior, created in the baroque style. Then stroll along Rua de Santa Ana to see some of the oldest homes in Ponta Delgada.
Dramatic Nature
Soak in the Azores’ magnificent landscape at sites like the natural hot springs at Furnas, where you can relax in the therapeutic waters and even try food cooked in the thermal vapors. Hike the Caldeira das Sete Cidades, a volcanic crater that’s home to two lakes—one blue and one green. Pay a visit to the Gorreana Tea Plantation, the only tea farm in Europe, and learn about the tea-making process while enjoying views of the radiant, deep green valley below.
Azorean Culture
Due to their remote Atlantic location, far from mainland Portugal, and history as a stopping point for ships traveling between Europe and the Americas, the islands of the Azores have developed a unique culture. Make sure to try traditional local dishes like Cozido das Furnas, a meat and vegetable dish slow-cooked in the steam of a volcanic crater, and Queijadas da Vila, a cheesecake tart.

Portugal Cruises
Mastering the balance between casual, cultural and charming.
History, great food, and beautiful scenery are just the beginning of your experience on a Mediterranean cruise to Portugal . Located on the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a friendly, low-key cruise destination with a casual vibe and fantastic coastline. Destinations on a Portugal cruise include Lisbon and Funchal , the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira. Lisbon is known for its Manueline architecture. This lavish design native to Portugal, is best observed when touring monuments and exploring medieval alleyways. One fine example is the Belem Tower , a UNESCO World Heritage site dating back to 1514 that commemorates the expedition of explorer Vasco da Gama. The climb to the top of the tower offers spectacular views of the river and city. For those looking for more a leisurely travel experience, Lisbon offers spectacular scenic views from its famous seven hills , with vantage points to admire the city’s horizon. Funchal , the capital of Madeira features botanical gardens with an abundance of variety and colour. In Funchal, cable cars are a popular mode of transportation to the hilltop town of Monte. After a day of exploring the historic old town, the Monte Toboggans , and the cable car, return to your cruise ship and enjoy all of the on board amenities. Spending the afternoon in a restaurant admiring the coastline and enjoying the culinary delights of Portugal is a lovely way to experience the local culture during a Portugal cruise. Freshly baked bread, cheese, olives, chargrilled fish, and smoked meats accompanied by red wine, or crisp young white wine exemplify a typical simple and delicious meal which the Portuguese have perfected. Book your cruise to Portugal with MSC Cruises, and enjoy a world of natural beauty and a range of gastronomic delights that will make your holiday a truly memorable experience.

Are you looking for a way to explore Portugal just as the country’s famous explorers Vasco da Gama and Bartolomeu Dias did? Or perhaps you are looking for a luxurious and all-inclusive getaway abroad. Today we’ll discuss what cruises are available in and to Portugal, which are the best ones to board and answer some common questions about cruise ships in Portugal.
Portugal is considered one of Europe’s top countries for both river cruises down the stunning Douro River and Mediterranean cruises that visit Spain, Italy and more. Immune to the economic crises, the cruise industry continues to grow with more than 1.3 million cruise passengers entering the Portuguese ports just in 2017. So, if you’re looking for a holiday where you can explore parts of Portugal without having to worry about anything else: accommodation, food, entertainment, are all taken care of, then this will be your kind of trip.
Choosing between the two types of cruises is not easy, it will all depend on how much time you have and what kind of experiences you’re looking for. Here’s a brief description of what you can expect from each type of cruise.
Mediterranean cruises in Portugal
A Mediterranean cruise from Portugal will take you along the coast from Lisbon to Porto and then onwards to other destinations like Spain. Sustainability
Charting a sustainable future
We have long been committed to environmental stewardship with a long-term goal to achieve zero emissions for our operations. We are also a significant investor in next-generation environmental marine technologies, with the objective to support their accelerated development and availability industry-wide.
Our commitment to sustainability goes above and beyond our efforts to reduce our environmental impact. It is also reflected in the way we support our employees and those who choose to travel with us, as well as how we interact with our partners and the communities and places we visit.
This second phase investment plan is increased from €5.1 billion to €9 billion with the signing of a letter of intent to build a further four World class ships.
This second phase investment plan rose to €9 billion with the signing of a letter of intent to build a further four World class ships, each using liquified natural gas as energy source.
We consolidate our second fleet expansion plan with orders for two additional Seaside ships and a fifth Meraviglia vessel, bringing the total investment for the 2014-2026 period to €11.6 billion.
MSC Cruises consolidates its second fleet expansion plan with orders for two additional Seaside ships and a fifth Meraviglia vessel, bringing the total investment for the 2014-2026 period to €11.6 billion. Due to be delivered in 2021 and 2023, the two Seaside EVO ships will present an evolution of the successful Seaside platform and have a capacity of 5,646 guests. The fifth Meraviglia ship, which was delivered in 2023, has a capacity for 6,334 guests. Like the World class ships, she is equipped with a of LNG-powered engines.
Completion of MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore and strengthening our commitment to sustainability.
Despite the challenges of the Covid pandemic two new cruise ships joined our fleet in 2021 – MSC Virtuosa and MSC Seashore. We also advanced with our ambitions to grow our portfolio of cruise terminals, which allow us to anchor our presence in marquee homeports and offer the best service to guests while enabling us to foster a front-to-end integrated experience. In November, we opened the doors of the Nelson Mandela Cruise Terminal in Durban, South Africa. We also obtained final clearance to start building our exclusive cruise terminals in Barcelona and Miami as key embarkation ports in the western Mediterranean and the Caribbean. In 2021, we also took an important step forward on our journey to ustainability and reinforced our desire to be an industry leader in this field.
Delivery of MSC World Europa, the first LNG-powered ship of our fleet and introduced technologies to reduce our impact on the environment.
In 2022 we were delighted that we finally saw the restart of the entire fleet and progressively and safely ease Covid restrictions. We also continued to make significant progress along our sustainability journey. Over the year, we launched two new ships. In October, we took delivery of the MSC World Europa, the first to be LNG-powered. It features a pilot solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and incorporates a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system – which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90% by converting the gas into nitrogen and water – and shore-to-ship power connectivity, which allows MSC World Europa to minimise engine use at ports wherever the portside infrastructure is available. In November, we took delivery of the MSC Seascape MSC Protectours, our dedicated excursions that are specifically designed to educate our guests and promote responsible tourism and responsible travel become more widely available.

Mystic Cruises (mysticcruises.com) is a new cruise company ( Oporto Portugal -based subsidiary) owned by Mystic Invest SGPS SA (shipowner). The parent company is the Ferreira family-owned Portuguese financial holding with brands mainly in the travel tourism and leisure industries.
Currently, Mystic Invest fully owns four cruise shipping companies (and travel brands) - Mystic Cruises (USA), ATLAS OCEAN VOYAGES/AOV (North America), NICKO CRUISES (Germany/ fleet , nicko-cruises.de/en) and DOUROAZUL (Portugal/ fleet , douroazul.com).
Due to the COVID crisis, all Mystic-owned cruise brands (Nicko, DouroAzul, AOV-Atlas Ocean) canceled voyages fleetwide between March 2020 and May 2021.
Company History
Mystic Cruises is a brand owned by the Portuguese entrepreneur Mario Ferreira - CEO and President of Mystic Invest SGPS (group of companies/mysticinvest.com) and best known as CEO of the Portuguese river cruisetour company Douro Azul operating on Douro River. Mario Ferreira is also famous for being Portugal's first space tourist (traveling on Virgin Galactic's Spaceship One / owned by Richard Branson).
Mystic Invest fully owns several brands specializing in the travel and tourism businesses (cruises, tours, hotels) and real estate.
The list of brands (subsidiaries) owned by the parent company Mystic Invest Holding includes DouroAzul (Portugal), Mystic Cruises (USA), Atlas Ocean Voyages (North America/USA and Canada), Nicko Cruises (Germany, via Schiffsreisen GmbH), Priority Dolphin (shipbuilding), Mystic Tua (Portugal), Mystic Adventure (tour agency in Barca d'Alva ), World of Discoveries (theme park in Porto Portugal), Helitours (Porto and Douro Valley), BlueBus (Oporto), Caminho das Estrelas (suborbital and Zero-G flights), Mystic Real Estate , as well as several luxury hotels and resorts (Hotel do Cais, Monumental Palace Hotel, Douro Marina Hotel, Wine Lodge Hotel).
In late-April 2019, Mystic Invest announced plans to establish and launch in 2021 the new subsidiary company "Mystic Cruises USA". Mystic Cruises is headquartered in Florida ( Fort Lauderdale ), served by 20-60 employees, and is currently led by Alberto Aliberti (CEO and President).
On November 14, 2019, was introduced the new (adventure-luxe) brand "Atlas Ocean Voyages" which is managed by Mystic Cruises USA. Bookings were opened on January 2, 2020, with the operations scheduled to start on July 7, 2021 ( World Navigator ). Early-booking promos included per-cabin savings (up to USD 2000) and half deposits.
In early-June 2019, Certares GBT Holdings Ltd (NYC-based global company specializing in travel, tourism and hospitality investments, subsidiary of Certares Management LLC) became a shareholder (40%) in Mystic Invest Holding for EUR 250 million (~USD 294 million). The Ferreira family is the majority stake owner (60%) of Mystic Invest's cruise companies (DouroAzul Portugal, Nicko Cruises, Mystic Cruises USA, Atlas Ocean Voyages USA) and full owner of the holding's non-cruise subsidiaries.
Mystic Invest fully owns (100%) the WestSEA Shipyard ( shipbuilding /repairs yard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal ) where the Holding is currently building its new expedition cruise ships.
Ocean ships
Mystic Cruises' ocean fleet is under the AOV brand. However, some of these ships are seasonally chartered to other cruise lines (small companies and independent tour operators), including Quark Expeditions and Riviera Travel UK/fleet . Another charter partner is Saga Cruises UK .
All ocean ships are operated by Mystic Cruises USA's brand "Atlas Ocean Voyages"/AOV. These include World Navigator (2021), World Voyager (2021), World Traveller (2022), World Discoverer (2023), World Adventurer (2024). For the construction of all these units was contracted the shipbuilder WestSEA (naval shipyard in Viana do Castelo, Portugal ).
Each vessel features an ice-strengthened hull (allowing year-round operations in polar regions), LOA length 126 m (413 ft), width 19 m (62 ft), GT tonnage/volume 9300 tons, max passenger capacity 200 (max 176 on polar itineraries), crew capacity 125, 8 decks (2 with cabins), 86 staterooms , shipbuilding cost EUR 70 million (USD 80 million) - or EUR 350,000 (~USD 395K) per berth.
On May 16, 2019, Mystic Cruises signed a partnership with Adonis AS (provider of maritime HR / human resources support and solutions) for the ocean fleet's management. Adonis Maritime HR Suite includes services like staff recruitment, crewing and payroll.
On October 13, 2020, Mystic Invest purchased at an auction (sales price USD 10,187 million) Vasco da Gama after the previous shipowner ( Cruise & Maritime Voyages/CMV UK ) filed for bankruptcy in July.
Ship technology
Ship design was developed by Leadship Ltd ( Piraeus Greece -based company) owned by Italian naval Architects Giuseppe Tringali and Mirco Zoia. It features an ice-strengthened hull (ice class 1B), top-notch automation and control system, modern propulsion (based on electrical pods / 360-degree azimuthing thrusters), dynamic positioning system (using GPS data to accurately maintain ship's position without anchoring), advanced water treatment system, hybrid powerplant (diesel-electric) with efficient marine engines (two Rolls-Royce engines running on ULSD / ultra-low-sulfur diesel).
The Rolls-Royce powerplant costs GBP 7 million (EUR 7,75 million / 8,9 million) and includes two main engines (Bergen C25-33L8P) and one auxiliary dual-fuel genset (Bergen C25-33L6P). The engines are connected to the vessel's electric power system (Rolls-Royce SAVe CUBE) allowing them to operate efficiently at variable speeds. Rolls-Royce Promas propulsion is an integrated propeller-rudder system to optimize hydrodynamic efficiency. Promas includes two controllable pitch propellers integrated with two flap rudders, steering gears and tunnel thrusters.
The vessel's draft is only 15 ft (4,7 m) allowing access to remote islands and unique coastal destinations. The ship has all 2 lifeboats (full-capacity) which are fully enclosed. Ship-to-shore communications are via Inmarsat Capsat Fleet 77 (satellite phone and Internet). Landings (passenger transportation) and coastal exploration voyages are served by the ship's own fleet of ten Zodiacs (motorized boats stored aft on Deck 7) and 2 loading stations.
The shipbuilder WestSEA is owned by Martifer Group via the subsidiary Martifer SGPS. This is a family-owned holding company founded in 1990 (by the brothers Carlos and Jorge Martins), headquartered in Oliveira de Frades (Portugal) and Euronext Lisbon (stock exchange) listed since 2007. Martifer Group has over 3000 employees and specializes in metal construction and (since 2004) in renewable energy (wind and solar energy equipment production). Martifer Group is one of Europe's largest metal construction companies, with subsidiaries in Spain, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Brazil and Angola.
The two Mystic Invest-owned European river cruise companies - "DouroAzul" (Portugal) and "Nicko Cruises" (Germany) - operate mainly modern newbuild riverboats deployed, respectively, on Douro River (in Portugal) and on Seine-Rhone rivers (in France) and on Moselle-Rhine-Main-Danube rivers (in Central Europe). Almost all boats are built after the year 2000 and have 4 decks and capacity between 80-180 passengers (Portugal-based ships are smaller).
Mystic Cruises also has riverboats chartered to other brands, including Uniworld ( Queen Isabel ) and AmaWaterways ( AmaDouro ).
In the UK, Nicko Cruises operates through Light Blue Travel (direct and trade sales). Nicko's Duoro River cruise prices start from GBP 1400 per person (double occupancy). Fares are inclusive of return economy flights and land transfers in Portugal, all shipboard meals, unlimited drinks (wine, beer, cocktails, all soft and hot drinks), onboard gratuities, Wi-Fi, 4 guided shore excursions, port taxes.
NICKO CRUISES
Nicko Cruises ( Stuttgart -headquartered) in 2021 joined CLIA Europe. In the UK, the brand is represented by Light Blue Travel Ltd (Cambridge-based travel agency).
Nicko Cruises' current CEO/Chief Commercial Officer is Guido Laukamp. He was promoted in May 2023 (from his position of Managing Director) while Michael Baden (previously Sea Cloud Cruises' Sales Director) was employed as Nicko's CCO/Chief Commercial Officer.
Since April 2024, Nicko Cruises' Head of Sales is Bert Freter (previously employed by Hurtigruten ), who succeeded Christian Kaatz.
In 2018 (February 20 through March 1), Nicko Tours scheduled a total of 10 roadshows in Germany to promote the company's new "ocean cruising" business. Each of the shows started with a casual get-together and buffet with finger food, followed by the presentation of the vessel and its cruise itineraries. Then travel agents enjoyed full meals and gourmet desserts.
Currently, Nicko's only ocean-going ship is Vasco da Gama .
Itinerary of Mystic Cruises
All the four Mystic Cruises ocean-going ships will operate on global itineraries leaving from various seaports worldwide. The new company will rely mainly on North American passenger sourcing. Fly-cruise deals from the USA will be also available for booking.
The company's fleet of modern riverboats is deployed exclusively in Europe - on Douro River (in Portugal), on Seine-Rhone River (in France), and on the Western-Central European rivers Moselle, Rhine, and the Danube. Boats' homeports (departure ports) include Germany ( Passau , Cologne , Berlin , Stuttgart , Stralsund , Saarbrucken , Potsdam ), France ( Paris , Lyon ), Basel-Zurich (Switzerland) , Prague (Czech Republic) , Amsterdam (Holland) .
The company also owns a luxury hotel barge - Spirit of Chartwell - cruising on Douro River since 2012.

Among the dishes are Polvo a Lagareiro (octopus, potatoes, olive oil, roasted garlic), Alheira de Mirandela (sausage, potatoes, radish greens), Torta de Azeitao (roll cake with egg custard cream). AOV's Epicurean Expeditions also include wine tasting (of regional wines) and a guest chef (could be from a Michelin-starred restaurant or a local culinary celebrity). The voyages also provide tourists with the opportunity to participate in the culinary competition Yachtsman Cookoff and enjoy the complimentary poolside Josper Grill Dining.

Discover the Beauty of cruising with MSC Cruises.
Our company
We are the world’s third-largest cruise brand as well as the leader in Europe, South America, the Gulf region and Southern Africa, with more market share in addition to deployed capacity than any other player. We are also the fastest-growing global cruise brand with a strong presence in the Caribbean, North America and the Far East markets. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, we are part of MSC Group , the leading privately held Swiss-based shipping and logistics conglomerate with over 300 years of maritime heritage. We employ over 30,000 staff globally and sell cruise holidays in many countries around the world. Each of our highly qualified masters draws on the company’s experience to navigate our fleet of ships.
We want you to discover the world in absolute style, comfort and safety. That’s why we are constantly expanding and improving our fleet, not only to give you a greater choice of destinations, but also to offer you an amazing state-of-art cruising experience wherever you go. We have a modern fleet of vessels combined with a sizeable future global investment portfolio of new ships. The current ships across our classes of ship include:
MSC World Europa , the first MSC World Class ship introduces a completely new, ground-breaking platform that brings together innovative technologies and industry-first design features including its unique Y-shape. MSC World Europa, delivered in November 2022, is the first LNG-powered vessel in MSC Cruises’ fleet and the most environmentally advanced to date. MSC World America will be the second in the cruise line’s innovative World Class when she launches in April 2025, offering sustainable cruising in the Caribbean from Miami, with new, immersive and unique experiences at sea. MSC Virtuosa , is one of the most environmentally-advanced ship of our fleet, delivered in February 2021. With a total guest capacity of 6,334 passengers, she is the largest ship in the MSC Cruises global fleet. Her sister ship MSC Grandiosa (from the Meraviglia Plus Class), came into service in November 2019. The smaller sister ships MSC Meraviglia and MSC Bellissima were the first two Meraviglia Class ships that came into service in 2017 and 2019. In 2023 another ship, MSC Euribia , powered by LNG joined the Meraviglia Plus Class fleet. MSC Seaside (2017) and MSC Seaview (2018) rewrite the rule book of cruise ship design, blending indoor and outdoor areas to connect guests with the sea like never before. With a guest capacity over 5000 passengers, MSC Seaside and MSC Seaview add a game-changing element to MSC our fleet. Two additional larger Seaside EVO ships, representing a further enhancement of the prototype, will have a capacity of 5,632 guests. The first one, MSC Seashore , was delivered in 2021. Her sister ship, MSC Seascape joined in December 2022. The four Fantasia Class ships – MSC Preziosa (2013), MSC Divina (2012), MSC Splendida (2009) and MSC Fantasia (2008) – are large-size and modern ships. MSC Preziosa and MSC Divina can accommodate 4,345 guests, while MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia carry 4,363 guests. The Musica Class ships MSC Magnifica (2010), MSC Poesia (2008), MSC Orchestra (2007) and MSC Musica (2006) carry around 3,000 guests each. The fleet is completed by the Lirica Class ships – MSC Sinfonia (2005), MSC Armonia (2004), MSC Opera (2004) and MSC Lirica (2003) – each carrying around 2,000 guests. The fleet is projected to grow to 23 cruise ships by 2025.

MSC Foundation
Life-changing programmes worldwide
As a family-owned company with a global seafaring heritage that dates back to 1675, MSC cares passionately about the seas and has a real love of the beautiful places and inspiring cultures we take our guests to explore all over the world. This has led us to launch many life-changing initiatives over the years. The MSC Foundation was founded in 2019 to lead and coordinate these conservation and humanitarian commitments worldwide, developing the longstanding philanthropic partnerships of all the MSC Group companies and launching many new initiatives. Benefiting from MSC’s global reach and unique knowledge of the sea, the MSC Foundation protects and nurtures the blue planet, helps disaster-struck populations toward recovery, and supports vulnerable communities around the world to realise their full potential through education, sustainable development and medical humanitarian programmes. The Foundation works to achieve this both independently and together with trusted partners that have a strong innovative vision or track record for effective action. Our principal partners are UNICEF , Marevivo, Mercy Ships and Ba'a Foundation .
In 2021, we also took an important step forward on our journey to sustainability and reinforced our desire to be an industry leader in this field.
In November, we took delivery of the MSC Seascape. MSC Protectours , our dedicated excursions specifically designed to educate our guests and promote responsible tourism and responsible travel- become more widely available.
We conducted the world's first ever net zero Greenhouse Gas emissions voyage, inaugurated our new terminal facilities in Durban (South Africa) and launched Explora I, the first of six ships from our new luxury brand Explora Journeys.
MSC Euribia, our second LNG ship, conducted the world’s first ever net zero Greenhouse Gas emissions voyage utilising Bio-LNG using mass-balance, the most cost-effective and environmentally efficient method of delivering the benefits of renewable LNG.
The first steel was cut for the second of our World Class ships, MSC World America. Sales opened for her itineraries, where she will homeport in our new state-of-the-art terminal at Port Miami, from 2025. A further two World Class ships were confirmed with shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique, with an option for a fifth.
MSC Meraviglia became MSC Cruises’ first ship to homeport in New York, conducting year-round sailings. This marked a third homeport in the USA, in addition to Miami and Port Canaveral. This was followed by sales opening at our fourth homeport of Galvaston, Texas.
MSC Cruises conducted an industry first, as two ships departed at the same time for separate 117 and 119-day world cruises - MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia.
And in South Africa, we celebrated the inauguration of our new terminal facilities in Durban.
In the autumn, a new era for the Cruise Division of MSC Group began, with the launch of Explora I, the first of six ships from our new luxury brand, Explora Journeys, expanding the options for ocean travel to a new audience of luxury traveller.
Respecting people and planet MSC Cruises believes that global leadership brings increased responsibility towards the physical and human environments in which a company operates. Its commitment to safeguarding the marine ecosystem, as well as protecting the health and safety of its staff and the travellers on board its fleet, has earned numerous awards and certifications.
In 2016, leading international classification society Bureau Veritas recognised MSC Cruises with the Special Safety Best Practices Award for the high level of enhanced safety procedures across its entire fleet. This important award follows similar accolades in past years. In 2013, Bureau Veritas granted MSC Cruises the honour of being the first company to receive ‘7 Golden Pearls’ for environmental care for MSC’s Fantasia class ships. This unique award comprises Cleanship 2 Class notation for advanced air, water and waste treatment systems, as well as new ISO 50001 certification for the highest standards of Energy Performance, ISO 14001 certification for environmental management, ISO 22000 for food safety and OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety. With MSC Preziosa, MSC Divina, and MSC Splendida, the company has also successfully met the strict standards required by Bureau Veritas’ voluntary Energy Efficient Design scheme. The quality and safety of all aspects of the company’s catering practices, both ashore and on board, were formally officially recognized through ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 certifications. Reflecting its commitment to protect the seas, MSC Cruises was one of the first cruise lines to voluntarily reduce emissions in ports to levels far below the legally required minimum. Embracing the philosophy of corporate social responsibility still further, MSC Cruises launched an important partnership with UNICEF in 2009. The Get On Board For Children project benefited disadvantaged children and adolescents in 126 vulnerable urban communities in Brazil by helping to ensure they receive a proper education. MSC Cruises also supports UNICEF’s efforts to tackle child famine and malnutrition in developing countries and in emergency situations. The partnership helped raise more than EUR 7 million to date. In order to support biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and the enhancement and promotion of marine protected areas, MSC Cruises and Marevivo joined forces in 2015 to inspire young people with a passion for the sea.

Sunny summers and warm winters. Due to its southerly position, Portugal's one of the sunniest countries in Europe - even in winter, the mercury rarely drops below 10°C.
