Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. (born 2 November 1974), better known as Nelly, is a Grammy award winning rapper, songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist from St. Louis Missouri, USA.

Originally born in Austin, Texas, Nelly moved to Missouri as a result of his parents’ separation at the age of 7. It was there that he found initial musical success, with the formation of the hip-hop group “St. Lunatics” with his high school friends in 1993.

After achieving moderate local interest with their song “Gimme What U Got” it became apparent to Nelly and the rest of the group, that he was the star of the group, and they encouraged him to push forward with his solo career.

He was finally signed by Universal, despite concerns about his geographical background not being commercially viable, as the majority of well-liked rappers hailed from New York or California at the time.

However Nelly’s debut release Country Grammar in 2000, was fairly successful, with the title track’s popularity helping pull the album to the top of various charts in the US. The album established Nelly’s personal pop-rap style, matched with his southern drawl that made him distinctive in the genre at the time.

Two years later, Nelly released his second full-length album, “Nellyville”, which took the rapper to superstardom. Tracks such as the catchy “Hot In Here” and R&B collaboration jam “Dilemna” with Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland, established Nelly at the top of the charts around the globe, with the album certified as six times platinum and ranked as the fourth best selling rap album of all time.

Suddenly, Nelly and his trademark plaster were everywhere. His third LP, a “dual” album called Sweat, Suit, was a half Rap, half R&B album, Both albums were released simultaneously in 2004, with the latter featuring the hit single “Over and Over” a surprise joint track with country singer Tim McGraw. The album was yet another commercial triumph for the rapper, cementing his place as one of the true icons of the 2000’s.

Alongside his musical career, Nelly became known for his business acumen, during a time when rappers could seemingly release anything! Nelly’s ventures included, collaboration with Nike for a limited edition sneaker, his own brand of energy drink “Pimp Juice” and a women’s clothing range called “Apple Bottoms.” He also made a name for himself in the acting industry, starring in comedy sports movie “The Longest Yard” with comedians Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.

Live reviews

Decent show....Wish he'd SING more as [IMHO] he's a better Blues Singer than rapper. Also, now that he's "middle-aged" (42-45-ish), wish he wouldn't worry so much at..?....I guess I'd say: Trying so hard to be cool! He's NOT 21 anymore AND he's got talent so there's just NO NEED to think he has to prove he's "cool/hip" if that makes sense. IOW, once you've made it big and you're in your mid-forties, I just think you should chill and be yourself and not think you have to compete with the likes of Justin Bieber or other little kids/20-something year olds! Just act your age man and let your talent shine. I REALLY HOPE NELLY READS his reviews because I'm not dissing him (my brother) rather I'm trying to convey the point that when you're in your mid-forties and you try and act like you're 21, it shows; everybody knows it/everybody can tell sadly. Other than that, it was a decent show. Props to him and all other performers that both come to and don't overlook the Permian Basin that has a population of half a million. A native Californian (Los Angeles), of Course Midland Odessa isn't that large to me but at the same time, half a million is a decent amount of people and there are some really decent venues here including the world-renowned Wagner Noel Center which many artists have commented on their Facebook page just how nice it is don't ever overlooked this area as there's a lot of money and people STARVING to go to concerts out here (we WANT MORE THAN UR HISTORICALL SAME OLD CRAP: COUNTRY & MEXICAN...1/2 the population HATES the latter & I do NOT mean that in a racist way but this is AMERICA!!! Our primary language is ENGLISH!!!! THEY DON'T PERFORM ENGLISH SHOWS IN MEXICO SO THEY SHOULD PERFORM ENGLISH SHOWS IN AMERICA! AND IT'S NOT TO SAY THAT I DON'T LIKE SOME SPANISH MUSIC BECAUSE I DO I JUST THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A VARIETY OF MUSIC...NOT JUST these 2 genres (Mexican & Country); we WANT: CURRENT (Key Word!) Pop, Hip Hop/Blues (thnx Nelly, really!), Adult Contemporary (like Christopher Cross came here on Valentine's Night 2014; awesome!), smooth jazz, Stand-Up Comedy (Chris Tucker even came here on a four-city Tour which included: New York, Dallas, Midland, & Los Angeles; that's freakingawesome!!!!), any genre you would find in Dallas or Los Angeles for example! Peace & Love to all people!

Nelly has not had frequent appearances on the charts over the last couple of years yet during his incarnation and first few years he scored chart choppers on both sides of the Atlantic. His set lists are now carefully considered to include some of his very best material along with the crowd pleasing mega hits from the mid 00's.

From the opening intro of 'Party People', Nelly swaggers around the stage and whips the crowd into frenzy. Perhaps the most iconic of all his tracks 'Hot In Herre' of course evokes screams of delight as Nelly commands the audience 'to take off all your clothes'. Yet other tracks such as 'Country Grammar' and 'Ride Wit Me' gain an equally big rap/sing-along. His biggest international hit 'Dilemma' sounds fresh and despite no guest appearance from Kelly Rowland, it is a highlight of the show.

One of the best surprises is a great mix of 'Flap Ya Wings' with Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines'. Nelly has been a consistent hip hop artist with a great selection of commercial successes, an incredibly enjoyable act to see live.

I saw Nelly on the Florida Georgia Line Summer Series tour. I’m not sure how I didn’t get any pictures of Nelly’s performance. I think I was in shock when he first came out. I’m not sure what song he was rapping to but it was awkward. I’ve been so involved with country music the past few years that I’ve forgotten how to appreciate other music genres. But then he broke into his older songs that we all knew and loved. I hadn’t realized Nelly has been around for 15 years. I was 10 when Country Grammar came out then. And he tested us. He wanted to see how many of us had been around since the beginning and my group knew every word of Country Grammar. I have a feeling none of the younger crowd knew what was going on. Nelly had a few humble speeches towards the end of his set. He was so grateful that country music fans accepted the Cruise Remix and made him feel welcome on the tour with Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane. He also told the crowd to chase their dreams like he had before ending the night with Just A Dream.

The VIP was horrible, the tables were all the way in the back couldn't even see the stage so it kind of sucked to spend that much money on a show yet the people who got in free were right up front to the stage. The servers brought us our bottle but then that was it they were too busy making twerking videos of each other instead of asking if we needed anything, they never came back to our table after bringing us the bottle. It was not a good "vip" experience at all I would of rather saved my money and did the free admission. Nelly was late he came a little after 1am and only performed about four songs but not all the way through, it was more of a night club with the DJ than a performance which sucks because I've been a huge Nelly fan since I was 13 so for 17 years and was looking forward to this show, the overall experience was disappointing.

When Nelly came out, I had to leave. I am a conservative country music fan of Flordia Georgia Line and Nelly's show was the most inappropriate show I have ever seen. I went for Flordia Georgia Line and was excited for Nelly. Sadly, the girls he had dancing were barely dressed and were dancing in a very inappropriate manner. Everything in my soul told me that I needed to leave the show while he preformed. This was a huge let down because I had bought very expensive seats. This was a very disapointing experience for me. I saw mothers with children leaving the same time I left. I would never come see Nelly or a similar artist in Wheatland again. I wish I was notified that Nelly was going to have suggestive and degrading dancers . Please keep your shows for the whole family.

Juvenile didnt make it to the show has apart of the head liner bc he missed connecting flight amd Nelly was late 45 mins coming on stage due to flight delays as well. I know weather happens but it would have been nice to know what was goin on. The venue did not let the concert goers know about the cancellation of Juvenile or that Nelly would be late so I dnt think that was right. But over all Nelly himself did a great job. The crowd was ready for him after listening to the DJ play the same music over 5 hrs. Wish he would have played alittle longer considering how long we waited. Glad Nelly apologized as well bc alot of artists wouldnt have cared they kept fans waiting.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! After 3 hours of watching music videos (don't get me wrong, watching 90s hip hop vids really got us into the mood for Nelly - but 3 hours!?) he finally came on stage at 12:40 am on a Thursday night. To our horror, he didn't sing full songs and his hits were remixed with different background tracks. I would say most people at this concert were in their 30s and 40s (teenagers in the 90s)and came to hear the songs of our glory days. Most also had to work the next day. We left after about 4 songs, the sound was terrible which was surprising because they had over 3 hours to get it right.

Absolutley amazing show , he gave the people what they paid for :) been listening to his music since he started out and still love his music now. The dj's who played before him were entertaining the crowd well before the main event. Would love for him to come back to the uk and tour again as i would go see him again.

Three-time Grammy Winner Nelly transcends genres with a full band Concert Series featuring Blanco Brown and Harper Grace

Nelly, the multi-platinum,  three-time Grammy winning artist and four-time AMA award winning entertainer  announces his Fall Concert Series, a first-of-its-kind experience showcasing the on-stage fusion of country, hip hop, and R&B with a distinctly “rock n’ roll” presentation. Nelly will be traveling with a full live band as well as a multi-million-dollar production package along with some of country music’s biggest rising stars supporting this incredible show.

This unique production stems from the celebration of Nelly’s 20-year anniversary of the RIAA certified Diamond record “Country Grammar” earlier this year when fans were gifted with the digital release of a LIVE, full band production of the complete album, not to mention his continued commercial success in country music. Whether fans are attending to party with the classics or bask in his most recent hits like  Cool Again  with Kane Brown,  Good Times Roll  with Jimmie Allen and  Lil Bit  with Florida Georgia Line, Nelly is ready to shake up the live music scene with this show that is sure to have a little something for everybody.

Nelly will hit the road just in time to celebrate the release of “Heartland”, his country inspired EP that he likes to call a collection of “country club-bangers”. His lead single “Lil Bit” from the project continues to make major waves in the country space as it is his 3rd collaboration with the multi-platinum duo Florida Georgia Line. Nelly describes the EP as his “ appreciation for country music.”... “It’s my thanks for country music, the whole world of country music, for allowing [me] to be a part of it.”] -  Music Mayhem Magazine

The first of three of these Lil Bit of Music Series will feature Nelly and Blanco Brown, which fans can expect to see more than a dozen dates throughout the month of October. Blanco is a fellow pioneer of hip hop and country fusion. The Atlanta born,  platinum selling artist and creative visionary known for his #1 hit singles “The Git Up” and “Just the way” with the band Parmalee, has coined his unique sound as “Trailer Trap”. Brown brings soul and a sincere and playful energy to the stage, along with an underlying message (as titled in his most recent single ) -  “Nobody’s More Country” than anyone else.

This collection of shows will continue to harness and uplift what is an ever-growing community of music lovers from all walks of life who did not grow up on only country or only hip hop and who find their identity and inspiration at the intersection of urban and rural cultures. From Nelly’s initial success in 2004 with Tim McGraw in “Over and Over’ to the remix of Kane Brown’s “Cool Again” just last year, he continues to prove that music transcends all boundaries and genres insisting,  “No matter what you listen to, everyone likes to party, and to celebrate the same way”.

Harper Grace, a rising pop-country artist, who recently inked her first Publishing contract, will open for the entirety of the series. This will serve as Harper’s debut tour. As a Dallas, TX native, she is known for her soulful country melodies and larger than life pop choruses.

Tickets are $49.50 for General Admission, $75.00 for limited Golden Circle GA tickets, and a limited number of Reserved VIP Box Suites at $175.00 per seat.  The OutPost VIP Lounge Access can be added on to tickets for an additional $50.00.

Nelly Korda is dominating the LPGA Tour and it's not even close

PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler , who won his second green jacket at the Masters last week, isn't the only world No. 1 golfer dominating a professional tour right now.

Nelly Korda , No. 1 in the Rolex Women's World Golf Ranking, has won in four consecutive starts on the LPGA Tour, becoming the first golfer since Lorena Ochoa in 2008 to accomplish the feat. Korda is the first American golfer since Kathy Whitworth in 1969 to capture victories in four of her first five LPGA starts in a season.

At this week's Chevron Championship in The Woodlands, Texas, the first major championship of the season in women's professional golf, Korda will attempt to become only the third golfer in LPGA Tour history to win in five consecutive starts -- Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sörenstam (2004-05) were the others.

Even Scheffler, who captured his first nine PGA Tour victories since February 2022 and has already won three times this season, isn't winning at Korda's current pace.

Korda, 25, said she has been inspired by Scheffler's run the past three seasons.

"I mean, gosh, I don't think anyone can ever say anything bad about Scottie," Korda said. "I love his morals, I love his attitude out there. I just love the way he goes about his business. He inspires so many around him, including myself.

"So yeah, obviously, as he even said, he wants to win every tournament he tees it up in. That's every girl that's out here competing, too. I think that you just have to go about your business. You can get lost in the articles, lost in the expectations, but I think if you just stick to your true self, I feel like you can live in your own bubble and enjoy it a lot more."

Korda has long been considered one of the best players in golf. She has won 12 times on the LPGA Tour and three times in Europe. In 2021, Korda won four tournaments, including her first major at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Atlanta Athletic Club. Later that summer in Tokyo, she became the first American women's golfer to win a gold medal in the Olympics since Margaret Abbott in 1900.

Following that breakthrough season, Korda was diagnosed with a blood clot in her left arm and needed surgery in April 2022. She battled COVID-19 earlier that year and ended up missing about four months of the season. Last year, she was sidelined for about a month because of a lower-back injury and never regained her form. She didn't win in 2023, her first campaign in three years without a victory.

"Yeah, in 2021 I went on a run, and then in 2022 and 2023 golf really humbled me," Korda said. "I think [in] sports, there are ups and downs. Every athlete goes through the roller coaster, and that is what makes the sport so great. You mature and grow so much and learn more about yourself. You never take these weeks for granted."

What has made Korda's current streak so impressive is the many ways in which she has won this season.

"Yeah, I don't think I can put a scale to what she's accomplished," LPGA pro Rose Zhang said. "That's honestly just such an incredible feat. There is only one Nelly Korda, and I think she really shows how she's the best right now in the game. Even growing up I've always watched her play. There was obviously something special about her. So to see her do all that she's done, especially the last four events, it's been really inspiring. It's so difficult and it's so rare."

After tying for 16th in the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Florida, on Jan. 21, Korda won the next week at the LPGA Drive On Championship in Bradenton, Florida. She came back from a 3-stroke deficit by carding an eagle and birdie on the final two holes to force a playoff. She defeated Lydia Ko on the second playoff hole to win in her hometown.

Korda skipped the LPGA Tour's Asian swing and took seven weeks off from competition. When she returned in late March, she battled Augusta National-like winds and chilly temperatures on the West Coast at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship. Korda made bogeys on her last two holes to fall into a playoff, in which she beat Ryann O'Toole on the first extra hole with a 12-foot birdie. Korda returned to No. 1 in the world for the sixth time in her career.

The next week at the Ford Championship presented by KCC in Gilbert, Arizona, Korda posted a 7-under 65 in the final round -- in steady rain no less -- to win her third straight tournament by 2 strokes. She became the first American women's golfer to get to three victories before April 1 since JoAnne Carner in 1980.

Two weeks ago at the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards in Las Vegas, Korda struggled early in the 54-hole stroke play competition to even advance to the match-play knockout rounds. She carded a 1-over 73 in each of the first two rounds before rallying for a 3-under 69 in the final round. She beat Angel Yin and Narin An to advance to a championship match against Ireland's Leona Maguire . Korda took four of the first seven holes and won the match 4 and 3 .

"This is definitely one of the best stretches I think a player has played in my 11 years on tour," said Ko, a 20-time winner on the LPGA Tour. "For her to win the second event of the year and have eight weeks off and win the next three, I was like, 'Man, I shouldn't have played, all playing for second place.'"

Korda's ballstriking has been on another level during her winning streak. Among golfers with at least 30 rounds played, she ranks first on the LPGA in strokes gained: total (2.76) and tee to green (2.21) and second around the green (.78). She is 10th off the tee (.76) and 17th in approach (.93).

Her putting isn't statistically as good (she ranks 46th in strokes gained on the greens) but she has made plenty of clutch putts to win.

"I'm not surprised, I will tell you that," U.S. Solheim Cup team captain Stacy Lewis said. "It's very impressive. Four very different golf courses, and the three weeks in a row I think was the most impressive. The amount of energy it takes to do that, I thought you would've maybe seen a little drop in play at match play just getting a little bit more tired.

"But the ballstriking has always been so good for her. Short game gets a little better, the confidence to be in that position. I think that's what you're seeing more now. ... I knew it was just going to be a matter of time."

Some of the most accomplished PGA Tour stars have envied Korda's silky-smooth and seemingly effortless swing.

When she competed with PGA Tour players at the QBE Shootout in Naples, Florida, in December 2022, Kevin Kisner called her the "Tiger Woods of the LPGA Tour." After watching her play, Max Homa said, "I don't know how she does not win every week."

At the PNC Championship, another exhibition that teams pros with their parents or children, Jordan Spieth said he told his father, Shawn, to "swing like Nelly."

"It's like playing with Adam Scott ," Spieth said, comparing Korda to the 2013 Masters champion, who is known for his nearly flawless swing.

In a perfect world, young golfers everywhere would be trying to "swing like Nelly"-- just like they're now trying to make 3-pointers like former Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark , whose sharp-shooting the past three seasons brought record TV ratings to the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

The LPGA is hoping that Korda's success and the growing popularity of women's sports can help it expand. The final two rounds of the Chevron Championship were broadcast on NBC for the first time last year and coverage will extend from four hours to six this year. There's also 40 hours of coverage of featured groups on ESPN+. Other non-major tournaments are broadcast on tape delay or only on streaming.

"I feel like we just need a stage," Korda said. "We need to be put on TV. I feel like when it's tape delay or anything like that, that hurts our game. Women's sports just needs a stage. If we have a stage we can show up and perform and show people what we're all about."

LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan recognizes the unique opportunity her tour must take advantage of. During a news conference at the Chevron Championship on Tuesday, she noted that the LPGA didn't have a marketing department not long ago.

Now, it has four or five people helping publicize the tour's stars. She said weekly social engagement numbers have improved from about four million a week in 2022 to about 11.6 million this year. The LPGA will roll out a new website this fall.

Along with the four remaining major championships and the upcoming Olympics in Paris and another Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia, later this summer, Korda will have plenty of opportunities in the spotlight.

"We always talk about exposure and investment," Marcoux Samaan said. "Those are the things we need right now. There is no doubt that the product is world class. I mean, from Nelly Korda to Lilia [Vu] to Lydia, just down the leaderboard, these are the very best women in the world. So our job is to make sure people know who they are and make sure people can see them."

Whether Korda knows it or not, part of that burden falls on her shoulders, according to Lewis.

"I think Nelly does have a responsibility, and she probably doesn't always want it, just knowing her," Lewis said. "But it's saying, yes. Continuing to play great golf though is No. 1. That's what helps our tour the most is her playing great golf. I would tell her to remember that. I would tell her to do as much extra stuff as you can for us."

At times, Korda has been a reluctant superstar. This week, she has talked often about staying in her "bubble" to avoid distractions, even if she understands her power to influence the next generation of women's golfers. If Korda keeps winning, perhaps it won't be too long before young girls are trying to "swing it like Nelly" around the world.

"It's an inspiration," Korda said. "I'm hopefully inspiring the next generation and hopefully it promotes the game. Hopefully we continue to climb up. I just hope I show people how much I enjoy being out here week in and week out competing against all the girls, practicing, and hopefully that drives more attention to us.

"Listen, I feel like for me, the way that I promote the game is just the way I am. I'm very true to myself. I'm never going to do something I'm not really comfortable with. Obviously, I love seeing all the kids and I love promoting the game. I mean, there is nothing that I enjoy more. I'm always going to stay true to myself, and hopefully that way I do promote the game."

Nelly and Blanco Brown will instead be coming to eastern Iowa on Saturday, January 22, 2022 . The show will also be moving venues. Instead of performing at the new Xtreme Arena in Coralville, Nelly will be performing at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids .

The good news is that tickets for the rescheduled Nelly show on January 22nd in Cedar Rapids are on sale now. You can purchase tickets to see Nelly here.

To add to the good news, starting Monday, October 18th at 8 a.m., B100 will have your chance to win tickets to the show! Listen for the cue to be caller 10 to win your tickets to see Nelly on January 22nd in Cedar Rapids from B100!

This is the second concert in less than 24 hours that has been postponed. On Tuesday evening, The Rust Belt in East Moline announced on social media that the Back It Up Tour won't be coming to the Quad Cities until 2022. The Back It Up featured headliner Ginuwine, along with Juvenile, Chingy, and special guest Random Tanner of Clinton, IA.

The Rust Belt said in their social media post that the show has been postponed "due to a scheduling conflict...". Saturday's show has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2022. The already rescheduled show was supposed to take place this Saturday, October 16th.

Originally, The Back It Up Tour featuring Ginuwine, Juvenile, Baby Bash, and special guest Random Tanner, was scheduled to be played at The Rust Belt in East Moline Saturday, March 21, 2020 . That show was postponed to September 19th, 2020, and then later to Saturday, October 16th, 2021.

The Rust Belt said in their social media post that all purchased tickets will be valid for the show now scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Last call for the ultimate Pinehurst trip

It’s Nelly Korda time. How far can she take the LPGA?

Nelly Korda looks to win a fifth straight event at this week's Chevron Championship.

Getty Images

Nelly Korda’s press conference started a few minutes late on Tuesday afternoon, not because the World No. 1 was late herself (as is often the reason to blame for a pro’s media tardiness), but because she was busy talking with other media. As in the host of ESPN’s SportsCenter .

To the victor go these spoils. When you win a bunch of golf tournaments — Korda has won four starts in a row — SportsCenter comes calling. (Scottie Scheffler found this as well, doing a SportsCenter hit of his own after a press conference Wednesday.) Korda is the story this week and rightfully so; her quest for consecutive win No. 5 comes at the first women’s major of the year. Just how far will that story spread?

The timing of Korda’s dominance is hard to ignore. It comes on the heels of the most-viewed NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament ever and the most-viewed WNBA Draft ever, both by an incredibly wide margin . It comes in the wake of women’s volleyball becoming a popular TV product for ESPN. And it comes as the National Women’s Soccer League continues to grow and see franchise values increase, too. There is a newfound penchant for women’s sports in America from both fans and investors. Naturally, Korda’s name has led the LPGA’s entry into that discussion.

Can she carry the LPGA Tour to new heights in the way Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, JuJu Watkins and Paige Buechers did so for women’s basketball? In an individual sport, what obligation does she have to make it happen with anything but the 14 clubs in her bag? And if she does, what does that look like?

Nelly Korda hits tee shot at 2024 LPGA Match Play event

2024 Chevron Championship: How to watch, TV coverage, streaming info, tee times

All these questions have been arriving on Korda’s doorstep lately — including that SportsCenter interview — and she’s stuck with a consistent answer throughout. “I feel like we just need a stage,” Korda said. “When we get a stage, we can show people the talent that everyone has out here.” A few minutes later, she was asked the question again, in a press conference this time.

“I feel like we just need a stage,” she reiterated. “We need to be put on TV. I feel like when it’s tape delay or anything like that, that hurts our game. Women’s sports just needs a stage. If we have a stage we can show up and perform and show people what we’re all about.”

Discussing the stages that television carves out for women’s sports has always proven a chicken-and-egg conundrum. In order for network executives to guarantee enhanced TV time they want to know that more people will watch. In order for more people to watch, the sport needs to be guaranteed enhanced TV time. In golf, that has often left the LPGA not just in second place behind the PGA Tour, but sometimes fourth place behind the PGA Tour, the Champions Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour or DP World Tour. It was on full display a few weeks ago when Korda won for the fourth time in a row . She was competing in Las Vegas at Shadow Creek, a golf course worth viewing on its own, in the T-Mobile Match Play final against Leona Maguire, a Solheim Cup rival. But the match wasn’t available on Golf Channel when Korda and Maguire reached the 1st tee. It wasn’t viewable until well after it had started because the network was airing the (playoff) finish of the Korn Ferry Tour event.

Though she didn’t say it directly, that clearly irks Korda. And rightfully so. It clearly irks her Solheim Cup captain, Stacy Lewis, too.

“I was disappointed to not see that entire match on Sunday on TV,” Lewis said Tuesday. “I just felt like you’re really probably looking at a twosome, three to three-and-a-half hours of golf, and I was really disappointed we didn’t get that entire match on TV.”

It’s a fair critique. Lewis highlighted that broadcast when asked how the LPGA can capitalize on Korda’s stellar play.

“Those little things like that we have to push,” she continued. “We have to push our partners to say, how can we make this happen? It’s getting creative. Maybe it’s changing tee times, playing earlier, later, whatever it is. We got to figure out a way to be more visible.”

Nelly Korda has won FOUR straight tournaments. She's the best golfer in the world. Whose responsibility is it to capitalize on this moment in women's golf? Former No. 1 Stacy Lewis had some fascinating thoughts on the matter, and giving the LPGA a greater platform. "Say yes."… pic.twitter.com/YBPX1uj7op — Sean Zak (@Sean_Zak) April 17, 2024

Lewis has been in Korda’s shoes before. Not literally as a four-straight-tournament winner but as the No. 1 player in the world, hailing from America, the No. 1 golf TV market in the world. There’s a certain pressure on that player to deliver, both on the golf course and off. Lewis knows that Korda is a bit of a reluctant star, but sees this as a moment where she needs to lean in.

“I think Nelly does have a responsibility, and she probably doesn’t always want it, just knowing her,” Lewis said. “But it’s saying, yes. Continuing to play great golf, though, is No. 1. That’s what helps our tour the most is her playing great golf. That’s what I would tell her, is to remember that.”

This comes at an interesting time for the LPGA, which has established an in-house marketing team in recent months focused on pushing forward its greatest players. The return on investment is already proving quite valuable, LPGA commissioner Molly Marcoux Samaan said Tuesday, as the tour has seen roughly three times the social media engagement in recent weeks as this time two years ago.

“Those are huge growth numbers in the overall engagement. We just need to keep investing in that. You need money, you need resources, you need people to keep having the world see these amazing athletes, and then the whole tipping point will occur.”

As for what else Korda might be able to do to urge women’s golf closer to that tipping point, Lewis was rather direct.

“Well, I mean, every week she needs to be in [the media center] talking about it and how good she’s playing,” Lewis said. “I don’t know what that’s going to be, what that looks like for her. I’ve been in her shoes. I’ve been the No. 1 in the world and top American, and you’re asked to do a lot of things. But give the media a couple hours every week. That’s what she’s going to have to start doing.”

That plus the simple task of continuing to play historically great golf. The latter is much more difficult than the former, even if she’s made it look easy. Korda’s opening round begins at 2:10 p.m. ET Thursday and will be broadcast on Golf Channel and Peacock, as well as ESPN+’s featured groups coverage.

This week’s stage is set.

Ashanti and Nelly confirm they’re engaged and having a baby, baby, baby, baby, baby

It’s true! Ashanti is expecting her first child with longtime love Nelly.

The “Baby” singer and the “Hot in Herre” rapper confirmed months of pregnancy rumors Wednesday after much speculation about their growing family. They also confirmed that they’re engaged.

Nelly confirms he and Ashanti have rekindled their romance. Is it getting hot in here?

Nelly and Ashanti have rekindled their romance more than a decade after breaking up. The ‘Hot in Herre’ rapper confirmed it on the ‘Boss Moves’ podcast.

Sept. 13, 2023

“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” Ashanti told Essence . “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

The R&B star also announced the news in surprise ad for Proov, a diagnostics company she co-owns with Nelly that offers medical-grade at-home tests for couples trying to conceive. The ad, which the singer posted on Instagram in a collaboration with her fiancé and Essence, features the “Always on Time” singer getting ready for a show and, when asked how much more time she needs, she quips “about nine months.”

Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond Thursday to The Times’ requests for additional comment.

While this baby, baby, baby, baby, baby will be Ashanti’s first child, it will be Nelly’s fifth. The St. Louis rapper shares daughter Chanelle, 30, and son Cornell, 25, with his ex Channetta Valentine. He also adopted the two children of his late sister Jackie Donahue after she died of leukemia in 2005.

Nelly, 49, and Ashanti, 43, dated on and off for about 11 years before breaking up in 2013. After sparking romance rumors through much of last year, Nelly directly addressed speculation about the couple’s rekindled relationship in a September interview with Rasheeda of “Love and Hip Hop” on her “Boss Moves” TV show.

Ashanti and Irv Gotti

Ashanti debunks Irv Gotti’s ‘relationship’ claims: ‘He never tells the full story’

R&B star Ashanti finally addressed racy remarks made by estranged Murder Inc. producer Irv Gotti, who said they dated and who spent years discrediting her.

Oct. 26, 2022

“Sometimes being separate you understand one another more,” he said, confirming the relationship.

Ashanti — who said in 2022 that she was ready to “slow down” and have kids — acknowledged their reunion on Instagram stories during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards that month. There, she showed off a clutch on the pink carpet that was emblazoned with a photo of her and the hip-hop star.

“So... in this pic, we exchanged numbers at the VMAs in 2003... 20 years ago lol ...” she wrote, sharing a close-up of their faces on her accessory.

The couple sparked pregnancy rumors back in December when they attended an event together in the “Ride Wit Me” rapper’s native St. Louis. At the function, Ashanti and Nelly both playfully caressed the “Rock Wit U (Awww Baby)” singer’s stomach, as seen in a TMZ video.

nelly tour 2022 postponed

Nelly Korda is dominating the LPGA Tour and it's not even close

P GA Tour star Scottie Scheffler , who won his second green jacket at the Masters last week, isn't the only world No.

After 76ers win, Bad Bunny concert in Philadelphia will be on Friday as scheduled

By Joe Brandt

Updated on: April 17, 2024 / 10:13 PM EDT / CBS Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Bad Bunny 's concert scheduled for Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center Friday will proceed as scheduled.

The timing of the show, part of the Latin trap and reggaeton artist's  "Most Wanted" tour , was up in the air when the Philadelphia 76ers entered the NBA Play-In Tournament. Because the Sixers defeated the Miami Heat Wednesday night, the team's next game is Saturday in New York against the Knicks.

If the Sixers had lost Wednesday's game, they would have played at home Friday night.

In that scenario, Bad Bunny's concert in Philadelphia would have been moved to Thursday.

The show will be Bad Bunny's first appearance in Philadelphia since  headlining the Made in America Festival in September 2022 .

Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist on Spotify for three years in a row , from 2020 to 2022, before he was upstaged by Berks County native Taylor Swift in 2023 .

Ashanti and Nelly Rekindled Their Y2K Romance With a Ring

More than two decades after they first met, the R&B singer announced her pregnancy and engagement to the rapper. Fans rejoiced.

Nelly and Ashanti sit on a yellow couch. Ashanti, dressed in black and sporting bedazzled sunglasses, has her hands on Nelly’s shoulders. He wears glasses, a backward cap, and a white t-shirt.

Sometimes the love of your life is an ex . That seems to be the case for Ashanti and Nelly.

On Wednesday, Ashanti, 43, announced her pregnancy in an Instagram video with Essence magazine.

Some online users expressed their disapproval of the R&B star having a baby with Nelly, 49, without a ring on her finger (though certainly not uncommon among celebrities).

A few hours later, Essence broke the news that Ashanti, a Grammy-winning vocalist who has released six studio albums and sold millions of records, is engaged to the multiplatinum St. Louis rapper in a double surprise that led their fans to rejoice. No wedding date was announced.

“This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” Ashanti said in a statement to Essence. “Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”

“For all those people who were saying he got her pregnant without a ring … I hope you see the word FIANCÉ in that statement!!!” one user commented on Instagram.

The announcement also drew comments about getting back with an ex: “This is a block spin I can STAND FORRRRRR” another user wrote.

The two first linked up in 2003 and were a beloved couple throughout the 2000s, which is perhaps why fans are so delighted about the news. The pairing elicits feelings of nostalgia about the early aughts. Both were big names during the era, with hits like “Ride Wit Me” and “Hot in Herre” from Nelly and Ashanti’s chart toppers “Foolish” and “Happy.”

They first met at a news conference for the 2003 Grammy Awards nomination announcement. Nelly playfully asked for her autograph, which she took seriously — a moment that was captured in a photo that made headlines.

In the decade that followed, they attended high-profile events together, though they were notoriously private about their relationship status. They also released music together, including the 2008 seductive song “Body on Me.” In the music video for the song, they lock eyes as she croons lyrics like “I know you want it" and he raps to her “I wanna make you someone more than just a bone in my closet / I wanna win that type of relationship.”

After about a decade together, in an interview in 2015 with Meredith Vieira, Ashanti confirmed that the two had broken up.

They weren’t seen together again until September 2021, when they reunited at a Verzuz battle between Fat Joe and Ja Rule in New York. Nelly and Ashanti were both onstage during the musical battle, invited by the rappers to perform their songs with them, and Nelly gave her a hug . She later revealed it was the first time she had seen him in years.

In December 2022, they performed “Body on Me” during a concert in Arizona, dancing with each other onstage, as flirty as ever. Rumors about a rekindled romance were sparked, but it wasn’t until September 2023 that the couple confirmed their relationship.

That month, Ashanti attended the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, where Nelly was performing, carrying a purse embossed with a photo of the two of them when they attended the awards ceremony 20 years ago, in 2003.

In an interview on the red carpet, Ashanti said she thought wearing the bag would be “cute,” and when asked if she and Nelly are back together, she responded coyly, “I mean … yeah.”

Around the same time, Nelly also confirmed they were back together with the “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” reality star Rasheeda Frost on her show “Boss Moves with Rasheeda.”

“We cool again,” Nelly said. “I think it surprised both of us, though,” he said, adding that he believes their time apart was important for them to come back together stronger.

Asked if they feel good together now, he said: “Yeah, because it’s no pressure. Before, I felt like both of us were doing what we were doing career wise. When you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough.”

Now more low-key than they were in the 2000s, the duo seems to be ready for a new chapter in their long journey together — sans middlemen.

The 25 Concert Tours You Can’t Afford to Miss This Summer

From the stones to j. lo, pearl jam, journey, foo fighters and robert plant, it’s all about big shows and big stars. grab your tickets now.

After a massive slump during COVID , the concert industry is again sh-boom, sh-booming! The gross for the top 100 North American tours in 2023 reached $6.63 billion, up 39.5 percent over 2022, with attendance nearly doubling, to 15,008 per show, according to Pollstar.

And this year is shaping up to be another box office blowout. Despite the national outrage over price spikes for eggs, airfare and gas , music lovers seem immune to ticket shock. Ticket prices climbed 22 percent last year, to an average of $135.88, compared to $111.49 in 2022. And the trend is pointing skyward.

Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour and Beyonce’s “Renaissance World” tour ranked first and second last year, but boomer acts remain the tour circuit’s lucrative and reliable summer tentpole, delivering packed arenas and sheds year after year as fans flock to relish the oldies and rekindle the past.

Here are the acts to catch this sunny season.

Heart (April 20–May 24, Aug. 10–Nov. 22)

Sisters Ann Wilson, 73, and Nancy Wilson, 70, haven’t released an album since 2016’s Beautiful Broken , but they have decades of hits, including “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “These Dreams” and “Alone,” to draw from on their “Royal Flush” tour . Cheap Trick opens.

Kenny Chesney (April 20–Aug. 23)

After hitting arenas last year, country star Chesney, 56, has booked 18 stadiums for shows with openers including the Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker, his duet partner on chart-topper “When the Sun Goes Down.” All but one of the shows are on Saturdays.

Billy Joel (April 26–Nov. 9)

The Piano Man, 74, has scheduled only 13 dates , four of them at New York’s Madison Square Garden, so ticket stampedes are likely. Fans are curious to know if “Turn the Lights Back On,” Joel’s first single in 17 years, will be added to his hit-heavy repertoire.

$20 off a Walmart+ annual membership

The Rolling Stones (April 28–July 17)
