CANDLEBOX Reveal Plans For 30th Anniversary And Farewell Tour

Multi-Platinum  Candlebox  have announced details for their 30 th  Anniversary celebration and farewell tour.  “The Long Goodbye Tour 2023,”  which kicks off June 10 and runs through September 23, will feature a career retrospective of the band’s extensive eight studio album catalogue.

Tickets for  “The Long Goodbye Tour 2023” go on sale March 31  at  https://www.candleboxrocks.com/tickets .

The farewell tour dates, alongside Candlebox’s support dates with 3 Doors Down (3DD) on their “ Away From The Sun  Anniversary Tour,” will hit amphitheaters in major markets across the U.S. Candlebox will also be performing one-night only with legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd on Friday, May 5 at Frank Brown Park in Panama City, FL.

To celebrate, Candlebox will offer VIP Meet and Greet packages at each 3DD date including a ticket, early entry, photo with the band, and merchandise.  Tickets are available now at  https://www.candleboxrocks.com/tour

In addition to Candlebox’s extensive tour schedule this year, the band, which now includes Martin, Brian Quinn, Adam Kury, Island Styles, and BJ Kerwin, is also currently working on their final studio album with Producer Don Miggs. It is being released later this year by Round Hill Records.

Additionally, a feature-length documentary,  Far Behind: The Candlebox Story  is in the works for the group. Executive produced by Guy Oseary and Amy Decker and co-produced by Warner Music Entertainment (WME), the television and film division of Warner Music Group, and Highway West Entertainment, the film will explore the beginnings of what the world would come to know as the grunge scene, following the iconic band Candlebox on their rise to fame.

In addition to CANDLEBOX 's extensive tour schedule this year, the band — which now includes Kevin Martin , Brian Quinn , Adam Kury , Island Styles , and BJ Kerwin — is working on its final studio album with producer Don Miggs . It will be released later this year by Round Hill Records . Additionally, a feature-length documentary, "Far Behind: The Candlebox Story" , is in the works for the group. CANDLEBOX first formed in 1991 and helped lay the groundwork for the grunge genre, alongside notable bands such as PEARL JAM , SOUNDGARDEN , NIRVANA , and others.

CANDLEBOX has sold over seven million albums worldwide, scoring the megahits "Far Behind" and "You" , which have garnered over 100 million streams, decades after their initial release. The band's latest album, "Wolves" , had been in the top 10 on two Billboard charts (Hard Music Albums and Alternative Albums).

Last May, Martin announced plans to retire after the 30th anniversary of the release of the band's debut album in 2023. "I am retiring after next summer — yes, I am retiring," the CANDLEBOX frontman told the 94.3 The Shark radio station.

Noting that CANDLEBOX would celebrate its 31st birthday in October 2022, Martin said: "I don't know if I would have ever thought that CANDLEBOX would be around this long. I wanted it, of course; I think every kid wants to have that opportunity and a career that lasts decades, and I'm very grateful that it has. But there comes a time where my responsibilities as a husband and a father supersede my responsibilities to the music that I make. And that's kind of where I'm at. I enjoy it, but it's not the love of my life anymore. And that's, I think, when you as an artist you kind of have to recognize that and step away from it. And if it means that five years after that I decide that I wanna go out and do some shows, I'll do it; if two years after that I decide I'm going to do some shows… But I won't be doing the full-band tours for two, three, four months. I don't wanna do that. It's really, really hard. And I miss my family. And physically, it's very taxing. The way I sing, it's acrobatic, so it's not something that I wanna be performing and not have my voice work. So I'd rather go out on top, I think, is the term."

Although Martin plans on retiring from the road, he hasn't closed the door on making more music.

"I know that I've got another record I have to do," he told the 94.3 The Shark . "And people are saying, 'Well, if you do another record, you've gotta tour on it.' Well, that's not necessarily true. I would certainly want to and have people hear it, but I think that the case is that it's probably best for me to just accept that the mindset that I'm in and what I've decided for myself is what I need to do. As much as I may wanna keep singing and doing this and putting myself in the music the way I do, I have to recognize that I'm not in love with it the way I [once] was."

Kevin went on to say that "a lot of people" are telling him that he can't retire. "And a lot of those people are my bandmembers and my management," he revealed. "They're, like, 'You can't retire. People love you, and they love your music.' But like I said, man, I have got to put myself first emotionally in everything I do. And that's kind of where I'm at. I don't want to stop singing a song like 'Sometimes' that means the world to me, or 'It's Alright' or 'Far Behind' or 'You' , because I love them, but I just know that it's the decision I have to make."

Candlebox Announce ‘The Long Goodbye’ Farewell Tour

Candlebox have announced details of their 30th-anniversary celebration and farewell tour. ‘The Long Goodbye Tour 2023’, which kicks off on 10 June and runs through to 23 September, will feature a career retrospective of the band’s extensive eight studio album catalogue.

The farewell tour dates, alongside Candlebox’s support dates with 3 Doors Down on their ‘Away From The Sun’ Anniversary Tour, will hit amphitheaters in major markets across the U.S. Candlebox will also perform with legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd on Friday, May 5 at Frank Brown Park in Panama City, Florida.

To celebrate, Candlebox will offer VIP meet-and-greet packages at each 3 Doors Down date, including a ticket, early entry, photo with the band, and merchandise. Tickets for ‘The Long Goodbye Tour 2023 go on sale on 31 March at the band’s official website .

In addition to Candlebox’s ‘The Long Goodbye’ tour, the band — which now includes Kevin Martin, Brian Quinn, Adam Kury, Island Styles, and BJ Kerwin — is working on a final studio album with producer Don Miggs. It will be released later this year by Round Hill Records.

Additionally, a feature-length documentary, “Far Behind: The Candlebox Story”, is in the works for the group. Executive produced by Guy Oseary and Amy Decker and co-produced by Warner Music Entertainment (WME),the television and film division of Warner Music Group, and Highway West Entertainment, the film will explore the beginnings of what the world would come to know as the grunge scene, following Candlebox on their rise to fame.

Candlebox has sold over seven million albums worldwide, scoring the megahits Far Behind and You, which have garnered over 100 million streams, decades after their initial release. The band’s latest album, Wolves made the top 10 on two Billboard charts (Hard Music Albums and Alternative Albums).

Candlebox Announce Final Album In Advance Of Farewell Tour

Candlebox are breaking up. The Seattle grunge band, which started in the ’90s and (one hiatus later) kept chugging along into the 2020s, have announced that they’ll release one final album, The Long Goodbye , this August.

“Adam, BJ, Brian, Island and I are all super excited for everyone to hear this record,” frontman Kevin Martin said in a statement. “We pushed ourselves creatively as far as our hearts and souls would let us and created something that we’re incredibly excited about and very proud of.”

“We can’t wait for the world to hear The Long Goodbye , the final chapter in a long and illustrious career for Candlebox,” he continued. “One last album on one last tour to wrap up 30 years of rock ‘n’ roll with a nice little bow.”

Their farewell tour kicks off this weekend, and includes some headlining shows and 46 dates with 3 Doors Down. Check out that itinerary below. More details about The Long Goodbye will be announced at a later date.

Candlebox is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, US who like their regional influencers (Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, and Nirvana) are frequently associated with the grunge movement. They are particularly noted for taking this style from it’s indie punk origins and streamlining it into the pop circuit.

Their music has removed much of the harsh edges heard in the early forms of grunge; however, it is still grounded in rock music, even stretching in more obscure forms such as black metal (ex. Danzig and Black Sabbath) and freak funk ruffian rock (ex. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction).

The group formed in 1990 initially under the name Uncle Duke; however, they changed it to Candlebox upon receiving inspiration from the Midnight Oil song “Tin Legs and Tin Mines”. The band’s original lineup consisted of vocalist/lead guitarist Kevin Martin, drummer Scott Mercado, guitarist Peter Klett and bassist Bardi Martin. Within a year of the band’s formation they were playing in Seattle’s trendiest clubs and by 1992 they scored a record deal with Madonna’s Maverick label.

Their first official release, the 4 track EP “Change” was issued in 1993 as well as their self titled debut. Their self-titled LP acted as breakthrough to mainstream success for the band, peaking at No.7 on the charts and selling over 4 million copies worldwide. This album housed 4 singles including the top 20 Billboard hit “Far Behind”. Frequent air play, high profile concerts and frequent television appearances trailed behind this release. This endless stream of successes also earned them a headlining spot at the Woodstock ’94 festival.

The group’s ascent into stardom seemed to awaken a creative streak and by the Spring of 1994 they had composed a total of 36 songs. Their next album “Lucy” featured 12 of the songs. Though the album was overshadowed by the prosperity of their previous release it nevertheless received heavy rotation on the radio and reached gold status. The album produced three singles, all which were translated into music videos (acclaimed filmmaker Gus Van Sant directed the video for “Understanding”).

The band’s 3rd studio album “Happy Pills” came out on 21 July 1998 and featured the hit “It’s Alright”. Also around this time they released the single “Glowing Soul”, which self-professed fan Adam Sandler specifically requested for the movie “The Waterboy”. “Happy Pills” marked the last album the band would release through Maverick and also the last they would release before disbanding. From 1999 to 2000, Candlebox lost two of it’s founding members, leaving Martin as the group’s sole originating member. The band imploded in 2000 and failed to satisfy their contractual agreement with Maverick, which required the band to output four studio albums through them.

Throughout the bulk of the 2000s Candlebox’s members pursued various side projects; however, they reformed in 2006 and issued a greatest hits compilation through Rhino later that year. The band’s 4th long waited studio album saw release in 2008 and cemented a 10 year gap between the release of their previous studio album. “Love Stories & Other Musings” came out on 3 April 2012 and entered the US Billboard 200 at No. 82 and the US Independent Chart at No. 17.

Live reviews

It seemed that everyone and their dogs had tightly packed into the Showbox Theatre for Candlebox's return to Seattle. Heading back to the place that made them famous, the pressure was on. However, there was no doubt in my mind that this would be a show to remember. The lights dropped, the band struck a few anticipatory chords, and Kevin swaggered on stage. Usually, the beginning of concerts are slightly awkward – noone's quite drunk enough and the band aren't entirely comfortable – but we were put at ease right from the word "go." Kevin playfully frolicked between the band and the audience, wearing his heart on his (well-tailored) sleeved with a voice filled with both energy and agility. All that was required of the other musicians was to follow him with understated confidence. Fortunately the venue was large enough to accommodate Kevin's voice and stage presence, yet had the same sense of intimacy as in smaller venues that I've seen them perform. Although the group was elevated above the crowd, Kevin was poised right at the edge of the stage and kept us involved. Hackneyed it may be, but "Far Behind" was the highlight without a shadow of a doubt. A fairly bias view as it's a personal favourite, but Kevin's note-perfect rendition against the strobe lighting and the passion of the audience and the band palpable in the air made for an experience that will stay with me for years to come. I will never tire of hearing it live. Frankly, the songs, the sweat and the strobes were sometimes corny and some unheard material wouldn't have gone a miss, but nevertheless Candlebox delivered an electrifying performance to their legions of avid followers.

Candlebox came through with a kick ass performance...I was thinking till the last song they forgot too play my favorite song in the whole world "Far behind" my best friend committed suicide 3 years ago and that song is what gets me through everyday! Now I have some harsh words too the people of "Nevermind Bar. I ate the food they served which was BBQ ribs, Chicken wings, and the Seafood eggrolls. Well I ate the eggroll the next morning I woke up and my face was swollen a bad reaction too the seafood. I went down there too talk to the manager, he was not there. So I asked the very nice lady that worked there, after explaining that my face was swollen. She told me that there was crab and scallops in the eggrolls. So she took my # down for the manager too call me back, which he did. He was not very pleasant at all and told my a different story than the one that the girl had told me. He tried too cover it up with lies telling it was pasteurised and basically told me I was on my own in a very rude manner. Now 2nd day in and my face is still swollen I am seeing my Dr. at 11:40 am. I have more complaints about this promoter I have a bad back it was torture standing there for 5 hours without a place too seat. also it was really tricky to eat really messy food without a table or bar too eat on....just saying it was very poor planning on his end! LOVE CANDLEBOX Hate the promoter or manager

Slim's is always a great venue for music. If you can live with the few people that have had too much to drink, you know the ones.... Always pushing to get a little closer to the band. Or those that spill beer all over your feet, step on your toes, you will always have a great time at Slim's. Saturday night was no exception. A much anticipated crowd was well primed by the end of Lullwater's set. PeteRg opened the show with a great set. Mixing up their broad range of sound and style. They had the crowd's attention by the time they finished. Lullwater came out and literally rocked the house. The crowd was jumpin and singing along with the band. Lullwater's guitar playing and harmonies were exceptional.

Candlebox held nothing back. Kevin and the boys left it all on the stage. It is so nice and fun to see a person that is so passionate about what he does. Kevin definitely is. The man has dedicated his life to his music. It really shows in his performance and the bands style. Candlebox is and will be an exceptional draw to any venue. If you haven't seen them yet... Get a ticket, and buy this new album. It won't disappoint.

Washington outfit Candlebox are intent on keeping the grunge movement alive with their mournful rock sounds. Forming in the 90s, they enjoyed large attention placed upon the genre as their peers including Nirvana and Soundgarden all broke out at similar times.

The group has shared stages with icons including Aerosmith, Radiohead and The Offspring so have had a variety of influences and these are present in the live show. The gloom has been dismissed and there is now an anthemic quality to older tracks such as 'Blossom' which sound brilliant when supported by a choir of fans chanting back the chorus. Kevin Martin thanks them for the continuous support and their reaction to new material played from 'Love Stories & Other Musings' which has not been as popular as the former releases yet the crowds still cheer and applaud with great energy. He thanks them by returning to a classic to close, 'Far Behind' is the highlight of the show by quite some distance due to its grunge tendencies and unassuming anthem quality.

I have been following Candlebox since the beginning roughly 25 years. I discovered them while living in Spokane and then Seattle. I was hooked instantly. Kevin Martin has a voice that is unmatchable to any other artist I've heard. I've seen countless rock shows and most recently their accoustic shows. Everything they do is amazing. They don't have a bad album. Their newest release Dissapearing In Airports is fantastic, I recommend it to everyone. WJRR Earthday Birthday Festival, was fantastic and even though a short set the energy and feel of the crowd was awesome. These guys truly love their fans as much as we love them. I love seeing the newer generation of Candlebox lovers, it proves to me that great music never grows old. Thank you Candlebox for all that you do! Hope to see you again soon!

I just love seeing this band. I have been to many of their concerts and they never disappoint. This time was no exception. They did all my favorite songs and this new album is just as amazing. Kevin has a voice of an angel! The rest of the band is awesome as well. Research these guys and/or follow them on Facebook. I say that because I have heard some of their music that I have never heard before. They know how to put the music together. So so good. I am not a person that takes time to write review but these guys deserve it! A True fan that will see them again in a few months when they come back to Arizona. I can't wait! I'm a huge fan & I've seen Candlebox 3 times, they are ALWAYS GREAT. Last night tho at Ace of Spades in Sacramento CA they were absolutely amazing.

I didn't think they could get better but for whatever reason they were. They rocked the place and probably everyone outside too. Kevin Martin never ceases to amaze me with his powerful volcals and ability to engage the audience. His voice never waivers even after putting everything into each song.

I couldn't be happier with the decision to come see them again and if possible if there's a next time I'll be at that concert too.

A truly great show, they sound amazing LIVE! They are so kind and personal to the audience, you will feel such a cool connection with them at the concert. These guys put a lot of heart and soul into these shows. I hope my sister and I will get to see them again. We were lucky enough to share some drinks with the guys before the show and they are very humble, kind, gracious and freaken cool! I was so happy my cheeks hurt from smiling so much lol. They are the real deal, and if you are lucky enough to meet them, you will feel like family. Great guys! Kevin thanks for the drinks!

Absolutely amazing show!

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed some drinks with the guys before the show. My sister and I also got to watch from side stage during the show. As always the crew was very kind and attentive. They are a great group of people who do their best to give an epic show. If you ever get a chance to see them please do. Oh, also we had a special treat with the drummer from Godsmack playing on the song 10,000 horses. Also, such a nice guy to kick it with. So yes please go see them! It's called rock and roll...look it up :)

I have been wanting to see Candlebox for over 20 years, ever since I heard their first album, is to find out they were playing local to me I was very happy. And they did not disappoint. Performing some of their classic hits and songs from the excellent new album, they were amazing. How the lead singer is able to hit the notes he does after all these years is incredible.

We were also very lucky to chat tot he guys before their gig as they were watching the support act. Very nice guys.

Watch them and you will not regret it.

Bush Announce 2023 Tour With Jerry Cantrell, Candlebox + More on Select Dates

Bush have spent a fair share of time on the road in 2022 supporting their new album, The Art of Survival , and they'll be back on tour in the U.S. and Canada in early 2023 as well.

"You know we couldn't stay away for long," stated the group via their social media. "Bush have announced an early 2023 North American headlining tour with support from Jerry Cantrell , Candlebox and Silversun Pickups at select dates."

According to the group, pre-sale and VIP packages will start tomorrow (Dec. 7) with the general public on-sale set to follow this Friday (Feb. 9). You can get your tickets here .

The run comes in support of Bush's The Art of Survival album, which features the Top 10 single "More Than Machines" and the follow-up "Heavy Is the Ocean." The album is currently available at this location .

And as stated, Jerry Cantrell, Candlebox and Silversun Pickups will be playing select dates on the tour. Cantrell is promoting his 2021 solo effort, Brighten . while Candlebox last released Wolves in 2021 as well. Silversun Pickups most recent release was Physical Thrills , that arrived back in August of this year.

Grunge favorites Candlebox have announced a huge farewell tour across America in 2023 celebrating 30 years of music. The Long Goodbye Tour kicks off June 10th in Evansville and runs into September visiting cities like Lexington, Grand Rapids, Huntington, Cincinnati, West Hollywood and St. Louis. Also during the year, the band will be joining 3 Doors Down during portions of their 'Away From The Sun' anniversary tour.

Candlebox will continue supporting their seventh studio album 'Wolves' released on September 17th, 2021 via Pavement Music. The new album follows up 2016's 'Disappearing in Airports' which reached #112 on the Billboard 200 and was their first without original guitarist Peter Klett. Back in 2022, the band launched their Wolves Tour across America which was joined by Hold On Hollywood . Current members now include Kevin Martin, Adam Kury, Brian Quinn, Island Styles and BJ Kerwin.

3 Doors Down have announced an extensive 2023 US tour celebrating the belated 20th anniversary of their multiplatinum 2002 sophomore album Away from the Sun .

Candlebox will support the run, which kicks off on June 14th in Baltimore and runs all the way through September 23rd in Sugar Land, Texas. Following the tour, Candlebox will also join 3 Doors Down for the latter’s 18th annual “The Better Life Foundation Concert” taking place at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, on October 21st.

A Live Nation pre-sale starts Wednesday (March 22nd) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code OPENER , while a general on-sale begins Friday (March 24th) at 10 a.m. local time. 3 Doors Down released Away from the Sun in November 2002, and it has subsequently sold 8 million copies worldwide. The LP reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 on the strength of hit singles like “Here Without You” and “When I’m Gone.”

“ Away from the Sun has always been a personal favorite of mine because of how much it resonated with our country’s [military] service members,” remarked 3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold in a press release. “We are so blessed to be able to celebrate these significant milestones because we were very young making these albums, and we still have so much more life to give our fans.”

PHOENIX — Get ready to rock! The Offspring and 3 Doors Down are bringing concert tours to Arizona this summer!

Celebrating its sophomore album, Away From The Sun, 3 Doors Down will be playing in Phoenix on July 18, 2023. The show will take place at Arizona Financial Theatre with special guest Candlebox. It's expected to be Candlebox's final US tour and final studio album set to be released later this year.

The 'Let The Bad Times Roll' tour with The Offspring , Sum 41, and Simple Plan kicks off just days before stopping in Phoenix at Talking Stick Resort on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023.

WNBA All-Star Game tickets 2024: Price, date, roster for Team USA vs. Team WNBA in Phoenix

T he mid-way point of the WNBA season means no basketball for a month, sure, but it also means the annual All-Star Game. And with the Olympics this year, it's truly the best of the best of the league going up against each other.

Team WNBA takes on Team USA in Phoenix for the title of All-Star Champion. It's Team USA's final game before heading to Paris where it will go for its eighth consecutive gold medal. They're all set to do it, too, with a stacked roster that includes experienced Olympians Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi and A'ja Wilson. On the other end of the court is Team WNBA. Rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark highlight the squad as first-year selections amid their battle for Rookie of the Year. Clark is joined by teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. 

The game is a once-in-a-lifetime event (or once every four years) to see the biggest names in women's basketball go head-to-head in the ultimate challenge. Plus, how many basketball games feature a Pitbull concert at halftime?
